Astos from the game Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin by Team Ninja, Koei and Square enix.

I love playing FF’s Dissidia Opera Omnia game and Astos just debuted. He’s hype because of his ridiculous amount of damage output. I was intrigued by his chapter story— loved his creepy theme music— and so decided to read about his character and game.

Talk about tragic 😭 the flashback after his battle was emotional and sad... even to someone who hadn’t played the game. So naturally I really like him lol 😂

My small beef with how they handled Sarah in Stranger of Paradise is like they did slightly and marginally better with Sophie and Neon. Like the part where Jack punches her so she is forced to flee the city is absolute whack and I hate it. The way she gets mortally wounded off screen the second you look away is so damn lousy too. After the freaking way they advertised how she would have a bigger role in this game they just made her have even less agency. HELL EVEN IN THE FIRST TIMELINE WHEN JACK GAVE HER THE DAMN CRYSTAL HE DIDNT TELL HER JACK SHIT!

You know what we could have had? 

Hurt that keeps piling up: The princesses who hds to bear the burden and worries of an entire kingdom. The ones who had to witness their realm fall to ruin before the Lufenians hit the reset button. The ones who had to assume their warriors of light died alone and in great pain probably just like their first love Garland. There’s only so much pain they can bear before one breaks. The ones who saw their friends condemned even though they did everything right. You can even have her become Ragnarok or summon it with her lute in a reference to World of Final Fantasy! 

The Accomplice: Astos and Sarah working together and resenting each other. One has a memento of their first love but was kept in the dark about the plan until the King of the Dark Elves decided to include her. The other knows everything and yet the loving promise is now a memory that only he recalls while she still has something from Jack to hold onto. The princess gets basic decency from the hero while the sorcerer suffers barbs after barbs, continously trying and failing to convince the warrior to search for the meaning behind the quest. They both fight knowing the one they love and have been betrayed by will never return.

The stronger the light, the darker the shadow: the time when all your party members force Jack to kill them? Have her boost the guys with the Lute. Make it clear it to him that if he doesn’t give his all he will die. Show me the last survivor and Queen of Cordelia smiling and ready to sacrifice Jack for a kingdom that she will never see herself.

As I am one of the few to clamor for SOP to be put in Kingdom Hearts,I would like to raise the idea of Vanitas having Jack Garland as a mentor/big brother figure cause while I may have jumped on the bandwagon around KH3,I know enough to know that this kid's life has bee fucked since the start. Little rat boy all alone in the world. Basically both Jack and Vani have similar issues, both trying to fill holes through unhealthy means with Jack being so focused on killing Chaos,he has an inner crisis when it becomes seemingly unobtainable and Vanitas constantly trying to fill his empty heart with darkness and Ventus. If anyone could show Vanitas how to let his guard down and find a new purpose in life,it would be Jack and the Crew.
