Notes:
Firesight has chronic pain (and mobility issues later in life):
Fire has the Scottish Fold breed's mutation which effects cartilage in the body, this causes his ears to fold, but it also causes chronic joint pain and can progress into swollen and inflexible joints.
For Fire, he is has the heterozygous version of this mutation, which means that his disability progresses more slowly, as a young cat he does experience some joint pain, with some days being worse than others. He is able to medicate with his own chronic pain herbal mix he created as a Healer. However as Fire grows older his joints will worsen, and by the time of his old age he will be unable to jump and some days is unable to walk.
He is able to still use his medication to aid him and is able to lead a happy life, but he is disabled and I didnt want to leave that out of his character! It's important to have disability rep (and spread awareness of the issues with the Scottish Fold breed) and I hope I serve him justice!
Character Summary:

Alright, part 3 of Thorns OC INDULGING TIME WOOHOOOOO - also, a certain little 'monsterling' here is owned by @bear-cubs-art-things
꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷︶꒷꒦˚꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷︶꒷꒦˚꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷︶
Amber Island had only grown colder by the hour. Pereskia pulled down her hat to keep the wind from taking it away, Viola tying her scarf a bit tighter. When had the clouds come in? The sun had been blazing just mere minutes ago! Now, the sky was a darkened canvas, voided of colors. Whatever storm was brewing in the distance was coming in fast.
The front of the island was blocked completely by monsters, rows upon rows lined up for their chance to get aboard one of the many ships in an attempt to escape the cooling land. A Candelavra could be seen given an escort to the front of the crowd, much time the anger of her fellow monsters.
"Wait!" A familiar voice called, flying past the two who stood before the shop. "Cecilia, you forgot me!"
It was a Kayna, bearing an orange bandana and dragging behind luggage that didn'tseem to be her own. She was desprate to catch up, unable to see the crooked path along the sidewalk and soon tripping onto her face. Cecilia looked back to the fire monster before turning her attention to the ship. She was soon lost in the crowd, which now thinned as the boat left.
"You.. you didn't forget me."
Viola leaned over to Perry, nudging her shoulder.
"Isn't Cecilia supposed to be like the queen of the island?"
"A leader," Perry answered, crossing her arms. "I never liked her. Something always seemed off 'bout that gal. Guess I know now."
Enya's presence became very clear. Monsters near the back of the line left, surrounding her and throwing questions. Why hadn't Cecilia warned them sooner? Had firesight given her any new information? Why had everyone been left in the shadows about this? What will become of the island?
It was overwhelming. She couldn't answer any of them - there was no answer. They were growing hostile, becoming animals. Enya could only hide her face as the violence began.
It started with a pebble. Then a stone. Then whatever wreckage the revolting beings could find. The Kayna was beaten, smothered, and torn by the very monsters she was to lead in her future. Pereskia could only look on in horror as the monsters she grew up alongside had become savage, wild beasts, throwing their fists in the air. She pushed her way into the crowd, leaving Viola behind. Something has to happen.
"What has happened to you?" The Barrb began, turning the monsters' attention from Enya to herself. "All of you! You're all no different than the ones you hate most! Takin' everything out on innocent monsters and leavin' them for dead - just like her!"
Pereskia pointed to the distant ocean where Cecilia had fled. With a signal from her yellow and purple eyes, Viola moved in while everyone was distracted, pulling Enya out from the center of the gathering and back into the shop. Thank god that barrb had a horrible hiding spot for the keys!
"There's a storm coming, and who knows when the next ship will arrive? If we plan on surviving, we need to work together and fix the community that Cecilia left behind. She may have been weak, but we aren't her! This flame will not be smothered!"
Almost on command, the sky lit up with jagged streaks of lightning. Piercing thunder rolled alongside of it.
"We gotta be fast. Check the nursery for any remaining eggs. Bring them to your homes and take cover! Don't be afraid to take what you need from stands and shops - it won't matter once this is over! Keep one another updated on the next ships arrival!"
The crowd of fire monsters disbanded, following the guidance they had been given from their temporary leader. The nursery was emptied of the unhatched eggs, booths cleaned of any available goods. They blocked their windows and sealed the doors, being sure to keep warm from the increasing winds. Perry reopened her shop to offer planks of wood, as well as a few spare tools she had left from the buildings construction. Once she felt she had done all she could, the doors closed for good.
"Alright," Pereskia walked back into the living room, "How's Enya holdin' up?"
"She's holding," Viola answered. "Hope you don't mind, but I helped myself to the first aid kit in your break room. Lovely broom collection you have in there, by the way."
Enya was rested on the couch, still in a state of shock after the attack. The kayna's body was riddled with cracks and chips of missing earth, a bright orange magma flowing visibly within the wounds. Viola had gotten to work, cleaning any dirt that had gotten into these injuries and bandaging them up. Even with all the damage Enya's body had endured, her pain came from her mind.
"Cecilia left me," She'd whisper. "She really left me.."
"I'm so sorry, hun," Perry offered her support. "I knew somethin' was wrong about her, but I never would've thought she'd leave her whole island behind."
All those years were wasted, acting as the student of a heartless Candelavra who only cared for their own well-being. No monster could ever trust Enya now; They viewed her the same way. Or perhaps they had changed their minds? She wouldn't know for a long while. Maybe the barrbs words got to them. Maybe they didn't.
"Thank you," She said softly.
"Don't mention it," Viola nodded, closing the kit. "You want a sticker for behaving yourself?"
"Huh?"
"Here, it's a stogg with sunglasses. I have, like, 50."
Viola pulled a roll of stickers from the folds of her scarf, sticking one onto Enya's head. As confused as she was, she couldn't help but smile.
"Eh, you can have the whole pack. Not like I'll need it anymore."
The lights flickered as the storm began to reach the island fully. Heavy rains beat against the windows and roof, winds howling and thunder growling. Perry wondered if the windows within the shop would be able to hold up against it.
"I sure hope my words came across to everyone," Pereskia worried. She knew it wasn't supposed to be her responsibility, but that wouldn't exactly help the guilt she would feel if someone were to be hurt.
"If those monsters were to listen to anyone, it'd be you. If they didn't, that's their own fault. Sure, it's annoying as all hell, but it's their own choice."
"You'd know a lot about that, wouldn't you Viola?"
"Boy, would I," the bowgart rolled her eyes. "Seriously, the amount of patients I've had that chose to destroy their livers during a night out with 'the boys' instead of taking a few minutes to be sober explains why plant island's population is declining."
"Oh? Y-you're a doctor?" Enya asked.
"Well, not anymore," Perry answered. Viola gave an agitated huff. Enya chose not to comment.
The lights flickered once more and soon blacked out.
"Your lights? Also not anymore."
"Oh shut up, you lavender punk."
The Kayna's firey body emitted a low light, keeping the bickering monsters from total darkness. They went back and forth, arguing over small annoyances that hardly affect anything. They were shut up easily by the shattering of glass, luckily not within the house part of the building. Pereskia stood up
"That didn't sound like the whole front."
"What does that mean?"
"The windows at the front of my shop - it's all one glass pane. It should've been louder, don'cha think?"
"Alright," Viola stretched her arms, resting against a cushion that had wedged itself between the floor and couch, "but I wouldn't go out there either way. Pitch black, broken glass. Not exactly safe."
"What if someone broke in to stay away from th' storm? Wouldn't be real safe for them, either."
With Viola falling silent, Perry left for the store.
As expected, the shattered glass wasn't from any windows - it was from the door. Lightning illuminated a large stone, likely what had been used to break in. Shards were tossed across the concrete floor, alongside something Pereskia had to look at twice to uncover what it was: blood. Speckled across the doorframe, droplets leaving a trail that carried into a dark corner, it wasn't a good sight.
"Hello?" She called out. "I see you're hurt - I can help you!"
Perry followed the path. A second strike of lightning lit up the shop, giving the barrb a better look as to who had been hurt. At least, just for a second. Whoever hid within the shadows jolted onto their feet, holding a blade to Pereskia's face. She stumbled back with a sharp gasp, holding her hands up to keep the other monster back.
Thunder rolled. The lights came back on.
It wasn't a monster at all. Not physically. Perry realized her attacker was far smaller than her, clearly very young as well. She wore a torn pink hoodie, an entire sleeve holding on by a few threads. The hood seemed to be decorated with two blue ears, both in the same ragged condition. Her skin was scarred and bruised, torn up by the entrance they had made, and her hair hanged in low, tangled messes that covered her right eye. The backpack she carried seemed to be ever so slightly newer, though that didn't say much. How she was able to keep standing was astonishing - everything looks horribly painful.
"Are you.. are you ok?" Pereskia asked, lowering her arms.
The girl kept her gaurd up, moving away slowly but keeping the knife to the monsters face. The door was a busted mess, but an attempt to open it was made nonetheless.
"I don' think it's safe to go outside.. are you ok?" Perry repeated. Her words seem to finally be heard.
"I know you're scared," She spoke with a cool but still shaky tone, "and I know you're not from here. But please, just drop the knife. I'm not going to hurt you - I'm not like them. You're safe. I promise."
The kid lowered her arms, her one visible eye already pouring with tears. The blade rang as it hit the floor, Pereskia having to catch the kid with open arms. Has she never had a caring hand reach out to her? The barrb felt herself filling with the same sorrow that poor girl held. She lifted her from the ground, being sure to kick the knife away.
"Let's get'cha patched up, honey - i can tell you've been through a lot. Oh sweet Glaishur, I hope the others don't freak out."
Enya had moved from the couch to the floor, talking to Viola of her life. She spent almost ten years working alongside Cecilia, learning of the islands origins and the many secrets kept within the castle. She likely had been chosen due to having firesight - an extremely rare trait only certain kaynas obtained. Unfortunately for her, it seemed defective.
She had seen many worrying things in the future, yet some of them hadn't come true. Enya began to question if her powers were real, if the power itself had been lying to her.
"But some of them did come true, right?" Viola questioned.
"A few, yeah. It's impossible to know which is true and which is false. We just took precautions every time."
"Well, it's better safe than sorry. A lot of crazy shit had happened in my time, and I think I've seen pretty much everything there is to see."
Pereskia pushed herself through the door, facing the two monsters who resided on the floor. She gave an awkward "hey."
"Except for that!" Viola jumped from her spot at the sight of a human, Enya following behind. "Perry, what the fuck? Get rid of it!"
"Look, I know this seems bad, but she's just a monsterling! Or.. well, a kid. It doesn't matter - she's hurt, and she needs help. Please, Viola. Just help her out."
Pereskias plea was met with an immediate answer, the bowgart asking her to set the new patient down on the couch as she began to dig through the kit once more. As terrified as the child was, she accepted the help Viola offered. So long as she was under the kinder monster's watchful eye, that us. Enya kept their distance, as any other monster would.
"Y-you know what humans are, right? They're more animals than we are!"
"This one is different, Enya. She's harmless. Well, now she is."
"Now? What do you mean now?!"
"Don't worry 'bout it."
Viola worked slowly, well aware of the reputation people had in the monster world. She learned rather quickly that, other than her unkept nails, the kid was relatively harmless. In fact, human skin seemed to be far more fragile than a monster's. Viola plucked out the glass, carefully cleaning the wounds and covering most of the girls' arms with bandages. Despite how beaten up she seemed, the kid was surprisingly healthy.
"You're.. very calm about this," She spoke, keeping her eyes on her work. "How long have you been on Amber Island, exactly?"
"She isn't a talker," Perry commented, "but I wouldn't be either. We've never been this friendly to their species."
"How are you just ok with this?" Enya yelled, tugging on her bandana. "It's going to kill us!"
Viola compared her hand size to the kids.
"Hah. Look how tiny she is."
"Eyna honey, I promise you're safe," Pereskia assured the Kayna. "If anything happens, which I highly doubt, I'll take whatever measures are needed."
Viola finished surprisingly quickly, letting the kid have the sake sticker she had given out earlier. Enya settled, though keeping herself away from the group.
"Hey, Perry, your specimen is cleaned."
"Lily," the kid spoke with a small smile. Six pairs of eyes rested on her. She didn't speak again, fearful of the many looks.
"Lily," Pereskia echoed. "Such a sweet name. I know you're real scared, but I'll tell you what - you can stay with me. This is a harsh world, and being all on your own ain't the safest thing right now. So long as you don't hurt anyone-"
"What?!" Viola yelled, cutting Perry off. "No way! I'm not keeping a human in my house, I'll get arrested! Look, Lily is harmless and cute and all that, but you just met her! I'm already neck deep in other bullshit I have to deal with, I can't risk having this on top of it!
Lightning hit the island, the castle its target. The lights flickered. Silence fell as tension grew.
"Then I'll leave you," Pereskia stated. "I'll find somewhere to stay with this kid without you. You can take away this home, but you will not take away this child."
The two held one another's gaze for a long while. Enya just wanted it to be over - what had she walked into? Who were the monsters, and why did they hate one another so much?
Viola grunted, pulling the fur on the sides of her head.
"Fine. You can stay. But only under the condition that you will leave. I'll help you find a job, I'll help you earn some cash, but I can't help you hide such a huge threat in my house. You're a good monster, but I can't be as good as you are."
Viola clearly didn't want to be any more of an asshole to Perry than she already had been, but this was a step too far. The risks were immeasurable. Lives were at stake, and the barrb was very aware of that.
"Well.. I thank you for your mercy. I planned to leave anyway."
Perry took Lily by the hand, offering to provide her fresh clothing while her current outfit got a good wash. She seemed to appreciate the offer, happily following along. It had been so long since she was able to trust anyone. Was she trusting too much? Luckily, no.
Viola cleaned her glasses, worrying of what the future held. Enya moved back to the bowgarts side.
"I know I can't kick her out," she sighed, putting her glasses back on. "I'm so fucking confused, Enya. I don't know what to do anymore. I thought I wasn't afraid of death, but I am."
"You're bound to make a lot of monsters mad or hurt by doing what's right for yourself," the Kayna took a seat.
"I've already hurt her. I can't hurt the kid as well."
"Well.. I don't know how to help you."
"Don't worry. I'll just have to help myself. Days are long, years are short."
Viola stared up at the ceiling. The lights blinked, the rain fell. She made her decision, leaving to tell Pereskia. Enya watched her leave, looking out the window once she passed. Had they truly helped? Perhaps so. Perhaps not. She wouldn't know for a long while. She knew one thing for sure, though. The storm will pass as it always does - for her and for everyone.

Good to know (and thank you for complimenting my brain) ^_^ I kind of slipped off listening things in order around season 4, I think? Anyway, I'll also use the fan extrapolation of levels of involvement with fears (from least to most, touched -> marked -> aligned -> avatarised) in these headcanons for clarity; so, here we go, in no particular order:
Bess and Hortense/Mist are both marked by The Lonely, but in different ways (Hortense's mark is more metaphorical - the growing divide between Hortense, the folk hero and Hortense, the actual person).
Soren is certainly marked by The End - he almost dies a lot in these books; the reason he's only marked is because he wouldn't knowingly serve a fear entity. I'd also argue that he is marked by The Vast and touched by The Desolation because of how much he's willingly flying in all kinds of weather and his natural affinity for the colliering(also losing his parents; tapping into Desolation's aspect as fear of pain and loss).
Eglantine is touched by The Distortion(Michael's entity) and The Lonely: she has problems consistently keeping up friendships and her longing for parental(specifically maternal) affection leads to her being taken advantage of; also, during the Shattering she's effectively drugged for months and convinced she flies back to Tyto forest and meets her (dead)mother; pretty in line with an idea of Distortion and Lonely team-up. Wouldn't knowingly serve a fear entity, but could get tricked into getting aligned or avatarised around Shattering, though not much later.
Kludd would totally get avatarised without truly realising. He'd probably think he just gotten good until some reckless pure one officer had pointed out that manifestations of Slaughter around him are, in fact, very much not normal. Marked by The Corruption(Worm Lady's entity) (in its "fucked up and deeply unhealthy attraction, co-dependency" aspect)because Nyra, aligned with The Slaughter and The Desolation. Most likely to be avatarised by The Slaughter (possibly in the tragic "I don't know who I am outside of serving the fear and I don't think there's much of the real me left anymore" way)
Nyra would jump into serving a fear entity faster than one could finish explaining the concept to her; as far as she is concerned, power is power, the source doesn't really matter. Aligned with The Slaughter, The Desolation, arguably touched by The Hunt(because she held a grudge against the Guardians and Soren's family specifically for years and tracked Coryn down in the Middle Kingdom, but doesn't seem to enjoy the chase the same way Hunt avatars/aligned people do), marked by The Corruption.
If Skench and Spoorn were any more Web-aligned, they would've started sprouting spider legs. St Aegolius as a whole also has very strong The Buried manifestation vibes(in both its literal and metaphorical aspects: Soren and Gylfie describe the place as claustrophobic, and the whole place about straight up erasing or deeply repressing your actual identity).
Ruby is touched by The Hunt(because of whatever scared her and her family off their nest) and The Vast, but otherwise fine.
Otulissa would've made one hell of an Archivist; I think she could've been tricked/convinced into serving a fear entity(like Jon was), but would never do it on her own. Very lightly touched by The Web, The Eye(because she genuinely enjoys learning new things, writing them down and analysing them) and The Slaughter(particularly when she lost an eye), but otherwise fairly resistant to the fears.
Now, the characters/things who actually inspired this ask:
The Ember of Hoole is an Eye/Web team-up manifestation, but in a different way than the Archive is. Grank is aligned with The Eye and marked by The Web, but not fully avatarised (his pursuit of knowledge and how he most often uses firesight to learn what is happening somewhere else sounds very Eye aligned to me. Also, his apathetic state when he looked into the Ember sounds a lot like the statement of the guy who escaped the Web-aligned boarding house).
It could've been a neat thematic twist if Hoole was touched by The Dark(in its "willing ignorance" aspect); alas, he's only aligned with The Eye and The Web. Would've sworn to find a way to sever a connection with the fear entity/seal them away entirely once he learned that avatars have to feed off people in some capacity.
Lord Arrin is touched by The Vast(in its "so rich money start to lose meaning" aspect). Would totally start feeding people to The Vast and would've gotten himself eaten in the long run because he absolutely would've gotten too arrogant for his own good. Also possibly touched by the Desolation after losing his son.
Penryck is Slaughter- and Hunt-aligned (because I'm convinced he intentionally let Siv go at least twice)Was touched and marked by both pretty early, but at different times(think four different incidents instead of just one) and started noticeably losing himself to them around the beginning of "To be King". He would've become a full Slaughter avatar if he lived a little longer. He is also touched by The Web because(at least in my hc) he's really good at networking and genuinely prefers to try and solve things with words first - one can always escalate to violence if talking failed👌
Ullryck(based mostly on my headcanon for her) is touched by The End and The Slaughter. She's an assasin, she's in it for the money, and if she can do her job and be a nuisance for the high king of Nyrthgar? Sign her up. But she isn't really interested in being an avatar.
DUDE I AM IN LOVE WITH ALL OF THIS!!! Why in the WORLD are you leaving these gems in my ask box when I log in once every ten years instead of just posting em yourself?? /lh
Your character interpretations are so spot-on and I seriously dig all of these headcanons!!!!
