the last time I got tipsy I told my friend the plot of Even Robots Have Nightmares and got so emo thinking about Fixit on the scrap pile struggling to say his own name as an overpowering voice pronounces him USELESS JUNK. I just think it’s funny how RiD has these horrifying or heartwarming three-second scenes that make me think, oh, maybe this show isn’t so bad after all! and then in the fourth second, knock off Hotrod opens his mouth with another tedious insult for Strongarm (or vice versa). whole time, acabumblebee is in the background like

It is very important to me that you all know that in the RiD episode called "The Golden Knight," which is all about Bumblebee, yes, they give him a sword—and, yes, he looks epic, totally deserving of a DID YOU FORGET WHO I AM moment in my humble opinion—

—but the moment that truly shows you Bumblebee is indeed worthy of the fanciful title is when he gets down on his knee to support Fixit, whose thoughts are spiraling due to the tense situation.

"The center of the storm is always still, and it's easiest to find a solution from there." - From S1 E13, "Out of Focus"—a proverb that Bumblebee learned from Optimus Prime. While the Golden Knight does not repeat that line verbally here, the principle is made evident through his actions. Bumblebee and Fixit face a dire situation under an extreme countdown. A quick response is needed in this crisis. However, Bumblebee has the wisdom to recognize that he needs to first ground his panicking teammate, before initiating direct action. He kneels down, looks Fixit in the optics, and chooses careful words to guide Fixit out of the spiral. Because of Bumblebee's patient support, Fixit is able to calm his nerves and calculate a way out of their predicament.

Years ago, Bumblebee was, in a sense, ceremonially "knighted" from Scout to Warrior by Optimus Prime. This episode isn't trying to call back to that moment, but it does a lovely job doing so. An Autobot Warrior on Team Prime is called to be more than simply a fighter. So too, an Autobot Knight must know not only when to stand up for others, but also when to kneel down for their sakes. Bumblebee is the Golden Knight. That is why I love this episode.

As you can see here, this is the wanted poster of the 'Nasty Stingers', a group of nefarious outlaws that are after lost ancient relics, looting, frauds, and often clashed with Sheriff Steeljaw and his gang.

Led by the treacherous scout Bumblebee (after the exile of Warlord Optimus), he founded the Stingers consisting of ex-elite guard Strongarm, malicious troublemaker Sideswipe, criminally smart dinobot Grimlock, rogue bounty hunter Drift accompanied by thieves Jetstorm and Slipstream, and finally duo father-son frauds Denny and Russell Clay.

Rewards for their capture is hefty (ranging from 4,000-6,000 Shanixs)

Also when I finished sketching, I had a rough time selecting a brush that gives a griddy texture than my usual. Regardless, it was fun messing with different brushes!

what does your rid15 fix-it au you’ve mentioned look like… mine feels more like an entirely separate thing based off only the broadest of strokes bc rid15 is. honestly extremely difficult to work with for me bc of it’s weird sequel but doesn’t really act or feel like a sequel 99% of the time vibes 😭

I’m still putting the plot pieces together honestly. I have a few themes and a vibe.

THE VIBE This was easy; it will be like the Iron Giant. Many beats are similar between that movie and RiD: the start of the show being some guy yelling “Mayday!”, the kind robots who turn into mindless killers when their eyes go red, the lonely kid raised by a single parent in a 50s-diner-looking-setting, hiding robots from society/government, the scrapyard dilf who thinks trash is treasure, etc. RiD has additional plot pieces, but it’s missing any sort of emotional substance. It’s all formulaic. Put these bad guys back in their prison cans forever. It sometimes hints at themes that could be higher or deeper, but doesn’t follow through.

THE THEMES 1. Fear of being useless or incompetent (Fixit’s fears about being discarded as scrap, Bee’s fears about being good enough to fill Optimus’ shoes, Denny’s fears about not being a good dad to Russell, etc)

2. Fear of The Other (Autobots fearing Decepticons and vice versa, humans fearing robots and vice versa) and how to overcome it (kindness? Violence? Understanding?)

3. The inherent value of a living thing (yes even Minicons, YES even Decepticons)

4. Found Family YAY

MISCELLANEOUS I do know the main characters would be Fixit and Russell. Optimus would probably not be in it, aside from flashbacks and/or visions. The Decepticons would be characterized with traits beyond “generic evil/destructive evil/plotting evil”. Maybe they’d be allowed to start their own society on a different planet, just not earth. Bee wouldn’t be confidently settled with a job as a cop at the start, he’d be more listless and directionless. More like Bootleg Hotrod*, but longing for a higher cause again. Sideswipe and Strongarm would probably not be in it. Windblade though…

All of this is subject to change, I haven’t even finished S1 yet. But that’s the bones of it. I’d love to hear more about your AU!

I really loved him in RID 2015, he's super funny and a great addition to the cast. I love that even though you kind of expect him to be a bumbling pushover at first, he's got a backbone of steel and gets his hits in on more than one occasion. My only gripe is that I think all the Caretaker minicons should have been different colors, instead of all being orange. I know they're supposed to be "mass-produced" but it wouldn't hurt to give them each a little bit of individual flair! RID 2015 had some really awesome minicon designs, so it's weird to me that they'd cop out on a main cast member like that.

As for NSFW thoughts, I don't have many. I could definitely see Fixit falling for a human, but I also feel like he'd be the type to be more into plug and play than sticky interfacing? He'd be jazzed about letting a human partner poke around in his internals to run his charge, as long as a suitable level of trust was established first.
