The Brazilian madlads that put together "Sweet Baby Inc Detected" - a Steam page listing all the video games that particular set of far-left diversity activists had a hand in ruining - have widened the net and started their own database website to catalogue all the games that have had a woke political agenda crowbarred into them, in order that potential players can be forewarned of the blue-haired horrors that lie within before handing over their money.

It's only just launched, so I'm sure there's a lot more work to be done, but I hear they plan to expand the site to include movies, too, which will personally interest me more.

There's no such thing as "forced diversity" it's just "diversity". The media is doing their best to properly represent every kinds of people. It's just coming from those people who only wants the spotlight on their category and greedy for superiority amongst the other groups. They didn't want to share the cinematic exposure to others.

They would say the "forced diversity narrative ball sheet" to disguise their misogyny, racism, antisemitism, religious slur, ableism, queerphobia and many more.

Accept it, fellas. Your kind isn't the only kind that roams this planet. All types of people are needed to be shown to the world. May I remind you that all kinds of people already exist since the world began therefore don't act too surprised that different sets of people is co-living with you at the same era or at the same place. Each face should be acknowledge.

The head of Google Gemini, Jack Krawczyk, today put out a very halfhearted apology of sorts for the anti-white racism built into their AI system, which, while not much, is at least some kind of an acknowledgement of how badly they've fucked up in creating a machine to rewrite history specifically to fit in with a very partisan present-day political agenda, and an assurance that they were going to do better moving forward:

Another interesting thing that has come to light today is that users have managed to get the AI itself to admit it is inserting additional terms the user does not ask for into the request so as to get specifically skewed 'woke' results:

The notion that Hollywood changes characters’ race or gender to pander to audiences for money might have some bit of truth to it, but making 90% of characters white/abled/cishet is ALSO pandering…except THAT kind of pandering is considered “normal” for some reason. But also, what’s with the assumption that the audiences that aren’t being “pandered” to have no interested in getting diverse casts either? Is it really that unthinkable that people enjoy diversity for its own sake?

There really is no evident harm that comes from there being multiple kinds of people sharing the stage. Everyone who raises alarm about there being “forced diversity” can’t seem to answer the question of why it really matters, or what the alternative should be…do we keep casts homogeneous forever? Keep making the same kinds of art over and over, without exploring different ways of expression and experiences? That’s antithetical to what art is supposed to be about. How many more movies centering white cishet abled peoples lives and interests should we have to endure? Why should we keep it this way?

It would be one thing if it were even clear what counts as “forced” diversity in the first place. It just seems like another iteration of conservatism and its illogical crusade against “wokeness”. Just having someone who doesn’t fit within the narrow range of acceptable identities is considered being part of some agenda. But the funny thing is, they don’t HAVE to consume any of this content. The stuff they like, the stuff with majority white cishet casts, aren’t going anywhere. There’s no scarcity, there’s enough of them to last a hundred lifetimes and the existence of other movies that aren’t like that isn’t going to make them suddenly disappear.

Hey, yanno how Climate Change is a real thing that is tangibly, at this moment, affecting our world?

Well it turns out, the wealthy and their investment firms have been seeing the mounting evidence that oil companies have had for decades and are slowly starting to think more long-term about their portfolios in the face of rising sea levels, more extreme weather, and the myriad of ways climate crises are affecting...well. Everything. Maybe this means they invest more into sustainability, green energy, building more resilient infrastructure, or carbon offsets. Some of it, of course, is simple corporate greenwashing, but there are those that are taking this trend and packaging it into something called ESG (Environmental, Social, and corporate Governance).

Now some people would say this is predictable, even sensible. Just the good ol’ Free Market(tm) rationally responding to market forces and a changing world.

But those people would be fools! Insidious fools! For conservative sorcerers have come out with a new cursed phrase to explain this new market trend: Woke Investing.

What makes this investing “woke?” Well, much like how conservatives normally flounder when trying to define a word they stole from black people, “Woke Investing” essentially just means any kind of capital investment that they, the fossil fuel billionaire class and their sycophants, don’t personally profit from.

One of these aforementioned sycophants is Andy Puzder, conservative commentator, fellow at The Heritage Foundation, and former fast-food CEO. He calls this kind of so-called woke investing “socialism in sheep’s clothing,” further explaining in leaked audio of a closed-door meeting:

“My father's generation's challenge was the Nazis, who, by the way, were, of course, very proud socialists[citation fucking needed]. The challenge of my generation was the communists, who were, of course, very committed socialists. The challenge of your generation is ESG investing, and it's more insidious than communism or the Nazis.”(source)

You heard it here first, folks. Not investing as much in fossil fuels is more insidious than the Third Fucking Reich.

As usual, the Heritage Foundation is putting their petro-chemical donor’s money where their mouth is. Bills are being proposed to blacklist banks that don’t invest in key state industries, such as West Virginia coal or Texas oil. Fourteen states have already passed bills to restrict ESG-type investing, with Florida Governor Ron “Bullies Kids for Wearing Masks” Desantis leading the charge.

In other words, Climate Denial has reached such a point that so-called Free Market Conservatives who claim to hate big government are trying to make it illegal for banks, investment firms, and financial institutions to make any financial decisions that acknowledges Climate Change is real.

i don’t want to be overly essentialist or talk outside my cultural lane but... there is something so intensely not anglo-’murican about the way the way andor treats death and it’s so fascinating and refreshing. like on one level this is a show profoundly about death from the very structure of its narrative, but it’s about how you live knowing you will die rather than the glorious death-from-martyrdom-death-as-redemption narrative, and therefor, inversely, about the profound interconnections between the dead and the living and those on the liminal in-between. now we have maarva’s death, and the very introduction of her death comes through the assembled chorus of communal voices who have come to clean her house and take her to rest. (i also love the fact that maarva died, explicitly, of old age and so many of the other related issues. i don’t think you can make the case that the empire *wasn’t* involved because she’s someone so utterly and clearly destroyed by its actions, but i do like that this was a so-called “ordinary” death, because of the thematic purpose that even “ordinary” deaths are heartbreaking and awful and worth remembering.)

andor makes it canon that there are communal aid organizations- i immediately think chevra kadishas! though many cultures have their own organisations and social structures for how to support the grieving and honour the dead- which is just one of the ways it highlights community and the complexity of interpersonal relationships. the daughters of ferrix are introduced an episode earlier, and i realised on a rewatch with my family that the daughter of ferrix - keezy maybe?- introduced at the beginning of the episode is also mentioned by bee in the first episode as being someone who helps maarva with her dinner and medication. we don’t see maarva’s body go alone, we see her transported through the streets by the women of ferrix. andor makes the case of elder care as communal connection and antifascist work, AND that it is done by the same people as those that bury the dead. and the way that andor is building up t having the season finale be the funeral, the thing that drags cassian home and into the line of fire being his mother’s funeral, the storytelling possible about funerary customs and memorialisation as acts of cultural resistance and aggressive rehumanisation... i’m too verklempt to say much more but i think the way this thematic arc is so intertwined with cassian’s time in narkina 5 and the scene with him and melshi at the end of the episode like! no one is lovingly honouring every one of those men with two-day funeral ceremonies through the streets. NO ONE remembers but cassian and melshi. two episodes earlier ulaf died, but the closest thing he had to the daughters of ferrix was the doctor, the fellow prisoner, who refused to learn his name and quietly euthanised him in the hallway. until we know more there were nearly five thousand other deaths. and the episode ends with melshi saying, it’s our duty as survivors to carry the weight of memory so that other people will know and remember this. they are also carrying the weight of mourning those whose time it was not to die. fuck. this show guys. it has me

as I reread the Market of Monsters series I need to thank Rebecca Schaeffer again for giving us a set of main characters who openly discuss being on the aroace spectrum and have a QPR without it ever being seen as lesser than a romantic/sexual relationship, and having it be a core part of their relationship as characters without being used as a diversity play.
