There was a post going around for a while about how kana means chicken in Finnish, making Kanafinwe = chicken Finwe. The thing is, a lot of Quenya names have te reo Māori meanings or can have funny meanings when transliterated into te reo. I've made a little list.

The most important thing to know is that 'wh' is pronounced 'f' in most dialects. Also, I took several liberties with the transliterations - when there were multiple options, I picked the one whose meaning I liked the best.

Translations

Maitimo: Māītimo means sour gardening tool. (Māī = sour, timo = a tool used to dig up sweet potatoes.) But if you're willing to mess around with the vowel sounds a little ... Māī-iti-mau [my-ee-tee-mo]* = to be a little sour to be captured.

*'au' is usually pronounced like the o in no.

Kanafinwe: Kana = wild stare / to stare wildly, making him Wild Stare Finwe.

Kano: either 1) colour or 2) bean.

Turukano: tūru means chair, so Tūrukano means chair bean

Ingo means desire, yearning, wanting. (Ingoldo becomes Ingoroto, a desire/yearning within.)

Amarie: Amārie = of peace, tranquility.

Arafinwe: ara means the waters breaking in childbirth. It also means path, but the first option is funnier.

Arakano: path bean

Angamaite: anga = to face, māī = sour, and tē = fart.

Curufinwe: Kuru has a lot of meanings including to hit/punch, to be tired, a piece of greenstone jewelry, or a mallet. So I guess that makes his name Tired Finwe, Ornamental Finwe, Mallet Finwe, or Punch Finwe. The last one would be in the imperative, making it a command.

Moringotto: we have to take out one of the t's to make this Mōringoto. It means either 1) intense unimportant person or 2) unimportant person to penetrate.

Transliterations

Feanaro: The best transliteration would be Wheanaro, which is pronounced the same as in Quenya. But my favourite interpretation is Whaea-ngaro; mother lost/missing.

(Edited to add that 'ng' is a soft sound pronounced like in sing. I'm cheating a bit here, because it's actually the equivalent of the Quenya ñ, not n like in Feanaro.)

Nelyo: We don't typically have l or y sounds. My preferred option for this would be Ngērō, meaning to scream inside.

Nelyafinwe -> Neriawhine or Nerawhine. Nera can mean nail (as in a metal nail) or to nail. Whine [fee-neh] isn't a word in most dialects, but in some very small areas it's the word for woman/women.* (In most areas the word is wahine.) So uhhhhh interpret that as you will, but this may be the single most ironic name on the list.

*Another possible transliteration of Finwe would be Whinewē, meaning woman liquid. This is physically painful to me so I'm sticking with Whine.

Findekano: In the same vein, Whinekano means bean woman or woman bean. If you prefer Whine-te-kano or Whine-tē-kano, the former means Woman The Beans and the latter means women fart beans.

Turko is Tūrukau: chair cow / nothing but a chair.

Makalaure could become Makarōre. Maka = to throw/fling and rōre = lord, making the full name Yeet Lord. A prophetic mother name.

Tyelkormo would become Terekomo. Tere= swift/fast. Komo... um. This is mostly used to describe putting on clothes. But it can also mean to thrust or insert. So basically the same as the Quenya

Moryo = Mōriau, a firm unimportant person / a howling unimportant person.

Curvo: if written as Kuruwau, in certain dialects it would mean hit me.

Pityo would be Pitiau: defeated smoke/mist.

Findarato: rātō means western, so Whinerātō = western woman.

There are also names that are pronounced the same in te reo Māori as they are in Quenya but have no Māori meaning, e.g. Anaire or Curumo.

Take this whole thing with a pinch of salt, because obviously we don't usually make word-for-word translations of transliterated names. Like I said, I've also taken some liberties with the transliterations. But to the best of my knowledge, all of these are accurate translations.

Kpop Vedic 2024 Solar Return Chart Analysis

I wanted to check out the charts because I’m so confused as to why so many relationships are being reported lately.

11H SR Pisces Sun, Moon, Chiron, Venus, Neptune & Rahu are literally all transiting through the 7H, house of relationships in the Natal Chart.

Solar return Sun & Venus have a conjunction with the Natal Chart Sun & Venus.

It’s a coincidence that Chiron (open wounds) is also transiting the 7H and former T-ARA member opened up about her abuse and divorce from her partner.

The Solar Return 12H Jupiter (planet that represents the husband) is transiting the 8H (house of divorce & power struggles) so I wouldn’t be surprised if more couples file for divorce/break up.

With the Solar Return Saturn & Mars transiting the Natal 6H, I would not be surprised if idols either open up or are seen not putting enough effort during their performances due to the their declining mental and physical health. And also, I’m seeing more hiatuses coming up too.

Park Ah-reum was born on September 1st, 1994 in Apgujeong, Seoul, South Korea. The second oldest of three daughters, she was born to two entertainment industry moguls. As the daughter of pop icon Ah-young Kim and renowned director Park Junghoon, and hailing from a family of actors, Ah-reum and her sisters were pretty much expected to go into entertainment one day. Ah-reum would get her start as a child actress and model, often appearing on screen alongside her mother.

In 2005, the family would move from their ritzy apartment in seoul to Palm Beach—one, for a change of scenery, and two, for Ah-reum to get a chance at furthering her career. After a few modeling gigs, Ah-reum scored a contract with Disney, and the family was quick to relocate to California. However, in 2006, Ah-reum and her older sister were persuaded to audition for SM ENTERTAINMENT alongside one of their friends. Ever the “momager,” Ah-young allowed the girls to audition, and they passed. There, they trained alongside the future members of GIRLS’ GENERATION and even met their future bandmate, KIM EUNMI. After only training for a year, however, the girls ended up leaving the company. They returned to california, and Ah-reum continued acting.

Then, in early 2008, Ah-reum and her sister were scouted off the streets again, this time by CSJ ENTERTAINMENT. A medium sized company, they had recognizable 1st generation names under their belt such as CODE RED and THE DREAM. The girls auditioned again, and yet again, they made it through. AS a trainee, Ah-reum modeled frequently, appearing in quite a lot of CFs. She also had bit parts in dramas, and appeared in music videos for Code Red, The Dream, and other groups such as GIRLS’ GENERATION and SHINEE. She, along with her sister and another soon-to-be member of DI-VERSE, JUNG MINA, were also backup dancers for the former.

In late 2009, CSJ began plans for another girl group, teasing the possibility on their website. Slated for debut in the summer of 2010 and meant to have nine members, the agency was quick to choose promising trainees for the new lineup. Ah-reum was known for her visuals and surprising rap skills, and she and her sister were both talented dancers. As a result, they and another trainee, KIM EUNMI, were three of the first members chosen to debut in what would become DI-VERSE.

The lineup went through a couple changes before landing on what would be it’s final one in early 2010. With their debut coming close, the girls were pushed even harder by CSJ. However, in may, Ah-reum went through a particularly severe anxiety attack, and was thus diagnosed with anxiety disorder, bipolar depression, and OCD. As a result, she was forced to temporarily pull from the debut lineup. Not wanting to debut DI-VERSE without Ah-reum, CSJ pushed the group’s debut to the end of 2010, before pushing it into 2011 to allow ample time for Ah-reum to rest. She didn’t train for 5 months, and ended up returning in October. At that point, a debut that year was virtually impossible.

Into 2011, Ah-reum continued training with the rest of DI-VERSE, appearing in more music videos and CFs alongside the members as their debut approached. And finally, after 3 years and a delayed debut, Ah-reum was revealed as the FIRST MEMBER of DI-VERSE, debuting as the group’s leader, main dancer, lead rapper, sub-vocalist, and visual.

Origin

Pronounced like ‘are-uh’ 

Ara’s beginnings start the same as the ‘generic’ Mahariel warden. Her father was the former Keeper of the Sabrae clan, while her mother was a renowned hunter from another clan. After her father was killed and her mother wandered off into the woods, Ashalle became Ara’s guardian, although raising her was a clan effort. 

No one is sure why Ara has white hair, considering her father had brown and her mother black. Ashalle always (lovingly) teased it was because her mother left her in moon light and the moon bleached her hair so Ashalle could find her easily among the other children.

Fighting & Skills

Ara’s amazing at wielding two daggers or an axe and dagger, which is actually her preferred combo. Alongside with her trusty mabari, Maggs (female), she’s nearly unstoppable.

She’s an incredible smooth talker and lock picker. She can charm nearly anyone and is very convincing, but not in a vicious way. She’s also very observant. Tries to broker peace before resorting to violence. She’s friendly and curious about the world.

Companions & Love

She’s friends with all her companions. She’s closest to Alistair, Morrigan, and Wynne (this was also her preferred team). She is least closest to Zevran and Leliana.

She quickly fell for Alistair’s witty charm and romance between the two young wardens blossomed. She felt betrayed by Morrigan’s dark ritual, but her and Alistair agreed to go through with it. Ara follows Morrigan through the mirror at the end of Awakening to help raise the child. Ara would insist that Kieran have some form of relationship with Alistair. Ara herself would eventually be considered a second mother.

In a blight/taint free world, Alistair and Ara have a son named Desmond (Desmond Duncan Theirin), a warrior like his father. Desmond would know of his half older brother, and like Ara to Kieran, Morrigan would become a second mother.

Their friends tease that Ara and Alistair suck at naming their children. But like I said, this is very not much canon, but an enjoyed thought of them being happy

I looked for Valor upon waking. 

The world was still, its air a dead weight upon my skin. I ached with the burden of this lack. My guilt crushed its due from my very bones. My tongue was dead, locked in the cage of my teeth. 

I wandered through a land wracked with the same death I felt coursing through me now — a strangled world, a shattered world, a world bearing corpses that shambled through their lives with all the dull grace of falling stones. I looked into their eyes and saw nothing more than reflected light. They were mere puddles where oceans should have plunged. 

They called me strange words in their wooden tongue, claiming a familiarity with my own speech — but I did not know of shemlen, flatear, knife ear, not until I shallowly dreamed in this space and parsed the meaning of each word from their fleeting memories. They could not reach out to me as I attempted to reach them. Too much air, or too little, separated what composed our wills, and I could not accompany my stumbling words with an expressed emotion to soften the blow, an understanding of intention to communicate a complex thought. 

I told them my name was Solas. They could not know from the speaking of it that the core of me was Pride, and in that barrier lived alienation. Once, to hear my name spoken aloud was to feel a sense of purpose — now it was a jumble of sounds, paired with the assumption of he, him, that man there. 

So I left the small village in the north, and its people, behind. 

I wandered as I imagined Hope once did. I felt his absence keenly — but more painful was his betrayal. The flash of hope in his eyes as he died still haunted me every time I blinked, every time I dreamed. I knew that that hope had not been invested in me, not as it should have been. 

With him gone, I searched for… the vestige of something. An echo. Ripples cast by a falling stone. Evidence that someone was still here. I grasped in ancient ruins and battlefields for some remainder of her, some hint of courage, some brief scent or flash of colour or fluttering sound. 

I finally sat, forlorn, at the center of the amphitheatre that had contained her death within its walls. It had broken into a crescent moon, now a jagged stone scar at the heart of this wild forest, and the sand that had drunk up her lifeblood was buried beneath a carpet of earth and leaves. 

“Lethallan,” I said aloud. My voice sounded strange and empty in this space, completely devoid of its former weight or power. It was a mere vessel for words. “Ara lath, ane ma’min?”

No sound answered but for the soft murmuring of the wind in the leaves above, a susurrus reminiscent of wings. I leaned forward, stretching the cramped links of my spine, and buried my hands into the thick, loamy earth and leaves. It felt cool beneath my palms — my fingertips bumped the lower edge of the half-buried cuirass, black as pitch and crusted with lichen, that lay at the center of this forgotten arena. I remembered, as vividly as the day it happened, how her broken, bleeding body had looked within this armoured carapace. No pool of crimson surrounded it now — only the evidence of many insect migrations, composed of chrysalis after empty chrysalis. 

I leaned my forehead against my outstretched arms and tried to smother a sob. It tore from my throat all the same. “Reveal yourself to me, friend,” I begged, searching with what little magic I could pull from beyond the Veil. “I am alone, on this wretched stage with you.”

There was no answering hum, no comfort of her voice, no passing scent of citrus or spice that could hint at some vestige of her clinging to this place. There were no spirits who imitated her likeness, reaching for me from their safe containment outside this world. There was no surge of courage, no refuge in valor, that I could take comfort in as evidence that part of her lingered here.

If any part of my friend remained, it did not remember me.

On the 3rd of July, ten years ago, T-ara released their fourth EP, DAY BY DAY.

The album marked the first appearance Areum, and the last appearance of Hwayoung.

A 10 minute music video was produced for the title track. The music video only features Hyomin, Jiyeon and Dani, who was supposed to become T-ara's ninth member but never officially joined the group, and only ended up replacing Areum in T-ara N4 for a few perrkances after the former's eventual departure from the group.
