I just started rereading Artemis Fowl, and now I’m very confused about Lazuli’s genetics.

Spoilers for the end of The Fowl Twins book 3

So, Lazuli is supposed to be a hybrid of elf and pixie with a little bit of goblin, and at the end of the last book it was revealed that her mom was the fairy that Artemis gets the fairy bible from. Initially I thought this was really cool, but while rereading the first book I realized that her mom is a sprite? Does that mean that her dad is also a pixel with a bit of goblin, and Lazuli’s phenotype just doesn’t show any sprite traits?

I considered that maybe Artemis mistook the fairy for a sprite when she actually wasn’t, but that seems unlikely since she had green skin, which as far as I know is only a trait that sprites have.

A Hartemis counterargument I don't get

*Spoilers for The Fowl Twins Get What They Deserve*

I ship Hartemis. I think it's fine if you don't or if you ship him with someone else or whatever, you do you. This post is mostly for Hartemis shippers. But anyways- the main reason people don't ship Hartemis or A/H or whatever you want to call it is because of the species difference and, consequently, the age difference, right? But here's the thing: there are literally TWO OTHER CANNON human x fairy ships-- Turnball and Leonor (which I will 1,000 % admit was toxic- but not because it was human x fairy) and Minerva & that one fairy whose name we don't know, with whom she had an actual CHILD with. Neither of these are met with scorn in any way. I especially want to focus on that last ship, because nobody seemed to think it was weird that Minerva fell in love with a fairy. Minerva herself regretted his death. Human x fairy couples are a thing that has happened before, if you look at the evidence from one of the coded messages at the bottom of one of the books as well. Readers don't seem to think any of these suggestions weird, with the one exception of Hartemis.

Side note-- as to the fairy-outliving-the-human situation, it was stated by Artemis or somebody else at some point, I believe, that his actual lifespan was yet to be discovered, seeing that his existence in clone form brought into play new variables. So.

Have you read the fowl twins books? and if so is there a queer character or characters?

because for some reason the place that i buy books from Just doesn't sell the second book and i thought that might have something to do with it, sorry for the weird question. The amount of googling didn't help me at all

Right, but didn’t it turn out that the only reason Artemis did that was because of how Opal had been manipulating him too? Holly and he seeming on better terms by the end of the book, but his guilt then leading into The Atlantis Complex, which almost entirely focused on their relationship, that “moment of passion” as Orion and Foaly called it? Leading to those final moments in The Last Guardian. Haven’t read The Fowl Twins, but apparently there’s some sort of subtext about this about a character called nani? And a short story somewhat addressing it? And the author saying if he does another main book, it’d be the focus?

Agreed, their relationship does heal and I have read the fowl twins and (no spoilers) but Holly is a very big but background-y part of their home system (it’ll make sense I promise)

Holly: I go back and forth on how I feel about Artemis’s departure. Which is weird, because usually when someone’s best friend leaves the planet you’re sad, right?But no matter how long we’re friends, the relationship continues to be-- complicated with little Arty.Also, he has a webcam on his spaceship and sends me pics every time he is amused by something. HOLY CRAP IT WAS AMAZING!!

I just loved everything. The new characters, the plot, the relationship with Myles and Beckett...just everything was awesome. For anyone who hasn't been able to read it yet, it's totally worth the wait! (Message me if you wanna talk about the book. :D)
