Day 1: “The Wind Blows A Little Bit Colder...”
A/N: Thank you for reading! This is my first time doing a challenge on tumblr, but I hope I can make some friends within this fandom. ❤️
@vannminner @vuelie
The wind blows a little bit colder in Arendelle as the autumn breeze changes to winter snowfalls.
This period of time has been full of change. Elsa abdicated the throne, placing the kingdom of Arendelle into the hands of Anna, and moved to the Enchanted Forest as protector of the spirits and the Northuldra people living in the Forest. The former queen, now the fifth spirit, truly feels like she is where she belongs.
Anna, on the other hand, has had a tough time transitioning into her new rule. Of course, she had a great role model— Elsa handled her queenly duties with grace after the Great Thaw. But Anna wasn't like Elsa. She always felt more like the spare child, not the other side of a very important bridge as Elsa had told her.
The people of Arendelle was always Anna's main concern. She wanted to make wise decisions with trade agreements and other political changes. Balancing council meetings, paperwork, and foreign dignitary visits, Anna could barely keep her head afloat.
Sure, she had Kristoff who was always ready to listen to her venting sessions. Olaf and Sven would do their best to cheer up the exhausted Queen.
She knew that she could send a note with Gale to tell Elsa she needed her, but Anna did not want to do that. The queen's realization of her struggles with being codependent caused her to try to do it all on her own.
Kristoff saw red flags almost immediately after Anna was coronated. He gave her a few weeks, hoping Anna just needed time to adjust. But with her constant mood swings, her skipping meals, and her staying up way too late to finish paperwork, Anna was struggling.
The only time she seemed to be herself was when Elsa came for family game night. Sometimes, Elsa would stay the whole weekend, which she had been doing more recently because she missed spending time with her little sister.
Today is Friday. Elsa should be arriving shortly after lunch. She always patiently waits for Anna to finish up in her meetings before coming to relax and have fun with the family.
Kristoff decides as soon as Elsa arrives, he will discuss what he's noticed about Anna. Maybe she can provide some comfort.
Anna runs into the dining hall a few minutes after noon. Without a word, she takes her seat.
"Um... hey," Kristoff speaks as he rubs the back of his neck nervously.
She avoids eye contact but sighs, "Hey, honey."
"Is... everything alright?"
"Everything is fine, Kristoff. I just don't think I'm going to finish my paperwork in time for family game night," Anna folds her arms and lays her head on the table.
"I'm sure Elsa will understand. She will probably stay the whole weekend anyways," Kristoff responds, trying to soothe his fiancé.
"She shouldn't have to do that," Anna grumbles.
"What do mean?" Kristoff gives her a look of confusion.
"She should just come for family game night and then go back to the forest where she belongs-"
"Woah, Anna. Are you sure you're-"
"I'm fine!" Anna yells as she slams her fists against the table.
Kristoff stares at her, his jaws dropped.
Anna cringes with embarrassment from her outburst. Tears begin to stream down her cheeks. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell. Just... tell Gerda to send my lunch to my room," She speaks choppily.
Before Kristoff can object, Anna runs out of the dining hall and practically flies upstairs, skipping one or two stairs between every step.
Kristoff lets out a sad sigh just as Gerda walks in with the huge meal. "Gerda, would you please take her meal to her room?"
"Yes, my lord," she responds as she sets the plate of food in front of Kristoff. Gerda hastily pushes the tray of food out of the room.
Kristoff hates being call a lord. He's just a mountain man that fell in love with a Queen, but Anna insists that he is spoken to with his formal title.
Interrupting his thoughts, Elsa elegantly walks inside the dining hall.
"Elsa!" Kristoff jumps up and gives her a hug.
"Hey, Kristoff," Elsa smiles at him. She looks around him, expecting a hug from her sister.
Her smile fades, "Where is Anna?"
"She's in her room... um... Elsa? I need to talk to you about her."
A flash of concern washes over Elsa's features. "Please, let's sit down," she leads him back to the dining table. "What's going on?"
"At first, I thought she just needed time to adjust to being Queen, you know? But she is overworking herself. She skips meals and never comes to bed before midnight. Her mood changes constantly, and Anna is only herself when you come to visit," Kristoff informs Elsa.
Elsa's face twists with sadness. Without another thought she stands up, "I need to talk to her-"
"Wait!" Kristoff stops her. "Um... she's upset right now, because she doesn't think she will finish her work in time for game night," he warns.
"Thank you for telling me, Kristoff. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go talk to my sister," Elsa says almost pleading. Kristoff gives a polite nod and decides to walk to the barn to feed Sven.
Elsa softly knocks on the Anna’s door. When she doesn't get a response, Elsa presses her ear against the wood. Sobs escape her sister's mouth on the other side.
"Anna? Please, let me in— it's Elsa."
Another minute passes. Restless, Elsa tries again. "Anna, please! I'm going to open this door."
Instantly, Anna swings the door open and throws herself into Elsa's arms. "E-Els-sa," she sobs loudly.
Elsa holds her steady and gently leads her to the bed in Anna's room. She quickly jumps up to close the door and runs back over to her little sister.
"Anna, breathe. It's okay, dear, I'm here now," Elsa attempts to soothe the wailing queen.
It takes Elsa about thirty minutes to calm Anna well enough to understand Anna when she speaks. "What's been going on?" Elsa strokes her sister's cheek.
Anna turns her face away and remains quiet.
"Anna," Elsa reprimands gently, "Don't shut me out, please."
"I'm not you," Anna chokes out.
"What?" Elsa gasps. Anna looks back at her older sister.
"I'm not you, Elsa," Anna stands up and starts to pace around her room. "I'm not an amazing queen who has magical powers. Like Olaf said, I'm powerless. I was never meant to be the queen— I'm just.... the spare."
In shock, Elsa stares at her sister. She slowly walks toward Anna. Elsa places her hands firmly on Anna's shoulder. "I didn't know you felt that way," Elsa tells her guiltily.
"No, no, it's okay-"
"Anna," Elsa stops her. A single tear falls down the oldest's face. "I want to show you something."
Elsa shuts her eyes and conjures the icy magic. Snowflakes swirl around the room, collecting in the center, a few feet away from the girls. There, ice formations of King Agnarr and Queen Iduna form.
"Darling, I've been thinking," Iduna starts as she looks lovingly at her husband.
Anna gasps and glances at Elsa when she recognizes the icy figures.
"It might be time to tell Anna about Elsa. I can't bear keeping her shut out anymore. She's maturing now, she can be responsible," the Queen reasons.
"It's not Anna I'm worried about. What if we let them get close again and the feelings are too much for Elsa? Joy brings her powers out strongly as fear,” the King reminds his wife.
In shock, Anna takes a small step forward, watching the scene take place in front of her.
"But if anyone can find a way to help her, it's Anna," Queen Iduna smiles.
"She may be right about that. There's not much that girl can't do,” King Agnarr smiles now, thinking about his youngest daughter.
Iduna sighs happily, "Her love could hold up the world."
"Lucky for the world," the King chuckles. "Okay, we'll tell her when we return."
The King and Queen share a sweet hug as Iduna hums in contentment.
Anna turns to Elsa and runs into her sister's arms. She sniffles loudly, "Thank you so much for that."
Elsa pulls away to look Anna in the eyes. "They believed in you, Anna, and so do I," Elsa smiles warmly at Anna.
"Oh, Elsa," Anna wipes the snot of her face with the sleeve of her dress, causing Elsa to giggle.
"And hey, you do not have to be me to rule Arendelle. The people here adore you, Anna. You may not have ice powers, but you have something stronger," says Elsa.
"What's that?" Anna shakes her in disbelief.
Elsa places a hand on her sister's shoulder.
"Love!"

Day Four - Frozen Covid Angst Challenge
M. Lauren
-
Sleep had been a struggle. Despite her tired mind and exhausted body, rest did not come easy. For hours she laid there. The bed she’d been provided with was warm and lined with soft fur. It was a gift- a welcome-home offering from her newest family; her mother’s family...
Eager to show Elsa she belonged, the Northuldra worked together to create a place she could call her own. The sentiment was not lost on her. It was, however, hard for her to accept. Never before had she experienced trust from strangers. Everyday in Arendelle she had to work to prove her worth; to demonstrate control. The Northuldra weren’t like that. They accepted her without trying to. They trusted her without thought.
And that was strange.
To be a member of this community was empowering, but still new. Elsa walked around her hut with a tentativeness that spoke of her fear for it being striped away. She didn’t want to get too comfortable. Elsa didn’t want to assume that this new and enjoyable way of life... could be permanent. She didn’t feel worthy of being one of them; not yet, anyway.
This pattern of thought held Elsa at arms length. She spent the first of her weeks coming and going in secrecy. It was easy to avoid conversations with people when they were hard at work, and often, very spread out. In Arendelle, Elsa’s whereabouts were never unknown by staff, and most importantly; her sister. Anna had a way of finding her in even the most remote of hiding places... Not that Elsa minded anymore.
Yet, perhaps that was the strangest sensation of all. Here in Northuldra, there was no Anna. There was no one who felt comfortable enough to check on her, or to go out of their way and make sure she was alright. They allowed her the freedom to move through their lands without interruption. It was nice, but also; it was strange...
And so the new and the strange melded together to create those sleepless nights. At first, Elsa would steal from her bed and disappear on a long walk.  When that proved to only add to the fatigue, the walks couldn’t continue. Instead, Elsa laid awake. Her eyes held wide at the ceiling. She felt her thoughts drift in and out of mindless streaks, but sleep remained a loss.
A month in, Elsa felt frustrated to the point of tears. Night was leaving. The early morning hours crept in. Elsa turned onto her side and tucked her legs against her chest. She pleaded for sleep to find her, or to pass out from the many hours she’d missed.
Then suddenly, the words subconsciously fell from her lips. In her tired state, her mother found her; her sister’s voice, and her inner self.
“Where the north wind meets the sea There's a river full of memory Sleep, my darling, safe and sound For in this river all is found”
That night, for the first time in four long weeks, Elsa fell asleep. She woke up tired and exhausted. Yet, progress had been made. She’d found the secret to silencing her anxious mind and tired body. The song had been such a reprave, during the following night... Elsa sang to herself again.
It went on this way for even longer weeks. When Elsa could wander the forest no further, when Bruni was curled against her and asleep; her mother’s lullaby would find her. Cradled in her own arms, Elsa put herself to bed.
There was a time for which she remembered living in this same pattern. As a child after the accident, Elsa would sing herself to sleep. She did it again when her parents died. Even later, she sang before her pending coronation. Though that had been years ago now, and times had certainly changed. Elsa wondered why, after all she’d been through, this way of coping had returned to her.
She belonged to herself now. She knew that. She accepted it with a full heart. Elsa was her own darling; responsible for keeping only herself safe and sound... but it was lonely... Lonelier now since having her sister at her side... She dismissed that thought, though. Anna was not far, and she’d known loneliness before. All that was left to do here... was accept that.
It was at the end of the sixth week, however, when Elsa’s routine was forced to change. She slumbered beneath the furs. Her arms wrapped around her legs. She waited for the voice inside to find her... but it never came.
It was a knock that surfaced instead. Beyond the walls of her hut, a voice rang out through the still night.
“Elsa...” someone whispered.
Startled, she sat up straight in bed. Her hair was mused. Her heart was racing. Elsa took a collective breath before starting across the room.
When she drew back the tarp, a frown took over her face. “Honeymaren...” Her head tilted. “What are you doing here?”
With hands clasped at her waist, Honeymaren began to fidget. Her eyes held at the ground. “I- you... You weren’t singing. I’ve been coming to listen to you sing... I thought something might have been wrong?”
“You’ve been listening to me sing?” Panicked and embarrassed, Elsa took a cautious step back.
“Only me...” Honeymaren promised. “I came to check on you one night a few weeks ago... I heard you sing, and- I’m sorry! This was inappropriate of me...”
She began to walk away.
“Wait!” Elsa stopped her.
Honeymaren tentatively turned around.
“Why didn’t you say anything sooner?”
Curling her shoulders, she neared Elsa once more. “I was embarrassed... I guess- I haven’t been sleeping well... not since everything’s changed.”
“What do you mean?” Elsa’s brow furrowed.
“I mean, the world is different now... It’s bigger... It’s been hard for me to sleep... Your singing helped me feel better, though, but I thought- if you weren’t singing... something must be wrong?”
Pink flushed over Elsa’s pale cheeks. “The song... she- it didn’t come to me tonight...”
“Oh,” Honeymaren shrugged. “Well, maybe that’s a good thing? Perhaps you don’t need it anymore...”
“-but you do,” Elsa pointed. “I could sing for you if you like?”
Honeymaren shook her head. A tiny smile took to her lips. “No, I think I’ll be alright tonight... Knowing you don’t need to sing anymore, perhaps I don’t need it either... I’ll find strength where you found yours.”
She turned again. Her feet were silent as Honeymaren headed back toward her own hut. “Goodnight, Elsa...” she whispered.
“Goodnight...”
Smiling, Elsa ducked beneath the tarp. Perhaps that was the comfort she needed for sleep to find her. Maybe all she needed after all... was just a friend.
-
Cheers,
-M.

Frozen Angst Challenge Day 3
So tagging @vuelie and @vannminner for this challenge! “Your Majesty...there’s something you need to know...” Poor Elsa.
Elsa cowered next to her door, body trembling with fear as she awaited the inevitable. She'd done bad, she'd done really really bad even though she was trying so hard. With each hard knock to her door the twelve year old squeezed her eyes shut and mouthed 'don't feel' to herself over and over.
"Elsa, come now, it's time to do your before breakfast studies!" her father's voice was saying. If it had been her mother at the door she may have had an easier time, but since her father had come to wake her that morning, she was too afraid.
Agnar was not a cruel man at all, her father was a good person. But when he spoke to her about certain matters she felt so much deep shame she often found it hard to even find words. Over time she just got worse and worse. She didn't know what she thought might happen, but she didn't want it.
The knocking on her door continued. "We cannot be late today! There is a big afternoon meeting!"
Shortly after he spoke, Elsa heard the sound of someone running in the hall in the direction of her father. What little glimmer of hope had started to shine she immediately shut off. "King Agnar...Your Majesty!" The loud voice on the other side of the door made her slump forward. "Your Majesty...there's something you need to know..."
"Yes? Speak," Agnar commanded firmly but gently.
"Trouble outside the castle, Mette's home - it was disrupted by...by...well, several strong spikes of ice sprang forth from the ground along with snow and viscious winds!"
"What!?" Agnar asked, worried.
"I know it sounds like a store, Your Majesty but it happened! I saw it myself! Everyone is scared of the strange magic, you're needed right away!"
"Of course. Please, go and tell them I will be exiting the cancel shortly to assess the situation and speak!" Agnar told him. "Let me explain to my daughter that I cannot stay for the morning," he told the man.
"Right away, Your Majesty, thank you!" Then the sounds of him quickly leaving followed.
For a few seconds there was silence, and then a softer knock at her door. "Elsa...I'm not angry. But you must try harder to conceal. I'm begging you for the sake of your mother and I, we cannot have these disruptions. We cannot have anyone else hurt. This will become more than we can explain and protect you from. Please my dear...try harder."
Tears formed in Elsa's eyes. She'd been trying so hard! And when she felt too much of the sadness, and too much hopelessness, she made every effort to direct it away from the castle so that no harm would come to Anna. She could never ever harm Anna again. She couldn't hurt her family.
Nothing she did was enough, however.
Her father spoke again. "I will see you in the evening then Elsa. Please do your normal lessons today." Then he began to walk away.
When Elsa was sure she no longer heard him she let out a long breath and allowed herself to quietly cry. The room in front of her was icy floors and walls, a frigid breeze rolling through the center. Ice piles formed and then crumbled apart, not holding together well enough. The air seemed to crack open as various amounts of snow poured out, rushing into the breeze.
She felt none of the cold. She felt all of her guilt. All she did was endanger everyone. If only she could be completely numb...
Elsa crawled on her floor as tears fell and froze the moment they left her skin. She made her way to the bed and gripped her blanket. After a pause, an attempt to get a little more strength, she hauled herself up and got on the mattress.
She was tired. She was tired, lonely, and she'd messed up. Elsa curled into a little ball and tried to stop crying, but she couldn't stop feeling.

There's something you need to know
@vuelie @vannminner here's my submission for frozenkingdomofcovid and angst week
Doctor!Elsa and Policewoman!Anna
In the midst of the coronavirus crisis
Late at night, after a gruelling shift at the hospital, attending Dr.Elsa just wanted to weep. She couldn't remember the last time she stepped out of the teaching hospital and met anyone other than the patients and fellow attendees and nurses. It was a dismal affair, with no end in sight.
As she opened the door to her room, due another shift in six hours, she just wanted someone to hold her in some way, take her mind off it.
Lo and behold, there Anna was.
This chipper patrolwoman had sneaked into the good doctor's life after becoming her roommate. A year ago, if you told this distant woman that this ginger law enforcer would become her best friend and soulmate, she would scoff and would have a bemused expression on her face.
But there they were, a year since they first met and becoming two twin ports in this storm called life.
'Sanitizer ?' Anna offered.
'Thanks' Elsa said weakly. It was enough for Anna to catch on.
'Tell me, snowball' Anna, ever the compassionate one, even if she was just as dead tired as Elsa.
'There's no end in sight, everyday I walk into those chambers of death, all my efforts are in vain. But I pressed on, until today' Elsa spoke through tired tones, but Anna sensed the tears about to come.
'Go on' Anna prodded on, secretly dreading what Elsa was about to say.
'The morgue was filled today, no more space to place the dead' With that, the platinum blonde broke down.
At great risk to herself, Anna hugged the weeping woman, distance be damned.
'I couldn't help them, I failed them' spoke the doctor after a bout of weeping into her roommate's bosom. 'I never thought you would fear answering questions and look for comfort in lies' she continued, 'I don't know what to do'. At that, Anna looked her in the face and spoke ' There's something you need to know, you are not alone in this. This is everyone's battle to fight, everyone must rise up and face it. This will test us all in ways we never imagined. Just hold on and do the next right thing, as I always say.'
Anna then proceeded to caress Elsa's back until the blonde calmed down and looked up gratefully.
'I could kiss you right now' Elsa breathed.
'Wow, you are really tired, huh? Crying into my uniform and now this' Anna grinned.
'Well it was a long day' Elsa smiled back.
'Yeah' Anna said. For a moment they held each other, taking each other's love and strength to prepare for the coming morning.
'You know what happened on patrol today?'
'What?'
'I played some Disney songs and people started cheering, best day of my career so far'
Elsa laughed, ' I love you, you silly woman'
'I love you too' Anna retorted.

Day 4: Safe and Sound
A/N: Thanks for reading!
This submission features my Kristanna Kid Ocs
Henrik(14), Freya(12), Rita(8) and Adgar(5)
TW: Major Character Death. ( Y'all I'm sorry)
@vuelie. @vannminner
Elsa awoke to the sound of crying.  Except it wasn't just one person it was four.  She sat up and made her way to the nursery. Agdar and Rita were crying the hardest.  Clutching their toys and sobbing. Henrik's shoulders shook violently and Freya wiped a few tears from her face.
"Do you miss your parents?"  Elsa asked sitting on Rita's bed as Adgar came to sit next to her.  "Are Mama and Father going to die like Iddy and Pop?" The little boy no older than five looked at her expectantly.  Elsa's heart sunk. Adgar had heard her, Anna and Kristoff's argument. "What makes you think that would happen?" She asked her nephew as his older siblings came to join her on the bed.  "Your argument with Mom and Dad...you mentioned Iddy and Pop." Freya answered as tears threatened to surface. Elsa looked down. Her own grief had turned a casual conversation into an argument.
"To Eldora?  The only way to get there is by boat...you're not thinking of-"
"Yes we are.  Elsa it'll be fine.  The Southern Sea isn't as violent as the Dark Sea."
"No, but what if what happened with the pirates happens again?  Think of the kids!"
"The kids will be fine! You'll be watching them.  We'll be back in two weeks."
"No.  No! Those are the exact words Mama and Papa said before they never came back!! Don't do this to your kids too!"
"Do what? Leave for a meeting?!"
"Don't say you'll come back when you actually never will."
Elsa sighed and shifted to the middle of the bed.  "I'm sorry I scared you. That wasn't a good thing to say, but you guys also have to stop eavesdropping on adult conversations.   Can we meet a compromise?" The kids nodded and snuggled close to their aunt. "Can you sing the lullaby?" Rita asked as Elsa cleared her throat and began to sing.  "Where the North Wind meets the sea…"
*************************************************************************************************************
"Sleep my darling safe and sound, for in this river all is found…"  Anna placed a protective hand over her stomach as the ship rocked more violently.  She looked out the window and saw nothing but waves. Suddenly the ship tipped over and Kristoff wrapped his arms around her.  The two plunged into the dark ocean below and they were safe at the bottom of the sea. Where the waves gently carried their souls away.

Day Two - Frozen ‘Kingdom of Covid’ Angst Challenge
-M. Lauren
-
This feisty, passionate woman beside him; she was his life. With eyes reflecting clear skies, he’d lost to that blue forever. And hair like red rock... Each strand was soft to the touch. More than once, he’d found hours gone by as his fingers combed through those perfect waves.
Yet now, this woman looked the same. Her eyes were still blue. Her hair, red and curly, however, if you knew her... really knew her; you’d see how much she’d changed. How in those blue eyes- there was a far-off gaze. And her red hair was tangled from their journey. Her shoulders curled inward, too strained to be comfortable. She was hurting. She was numb.
No, Anna... she’d been broken.
Kristoff felt the weight of the ring against his chest. The forest had been saved. Arendelle’s wrongdoing had been righted, but now there’d never be that perfect moment to ask his love to marry him. Forever more, Anna would ache with the burden of a family lost.
And how could Kristoff save her from that?
He couldn’t... In the harshest reality, he knew that. His own orphanhood made him naive to family ties. Yet that wasn’t exactly true now... was it? Both Anna and Elsa had showed Kristoff into their home. They’d taught him love and companionship; respect and a life worth living...
He too would be changed by the loss of Arendelle’s queen.
Kristoff turned to Anna as she watched the reindeer circle the meadow. She had moved away from him and shielded herself protectively with her arms. Kristoff sighed as Anna tried to smile. The Northuldra were happy, but she was too hurt to lie.
Kristoff’s heart ached at the sight. He couldn’t save Anna from this. He could try, but like her smile; the effort would fall short.
His own weight felt too heavy to continue... to keep fighting, or to keep up the facade. Kristoff’s own heart was a mere ache in his chest, and so he forced himself to turn away from Anna. He held his eyes toward the sky as his own tears began to fall.
“Oh, Elsa...” he breathed, his vision blurring. “If you hear this...if you can...please, come home.”

Day 2: Please, come home...
@vuelie @vannminner
A/N: THANK YOU for the really sweet responses to my Day 1 post! I'm using my Day 2 story as a preview of one my upcoming works following Frozen 2. At this point of the story, Anna and Kristoff have three children: Neva (12) and a set of boy/girl twins, Lumi and Brina (6). If I get enough interest, I'll post chapters on tumblr; however, I have a fanfic.net account (@queenfixerupper). Without further adieu, enjoy Day 2 of the Frozen Angst Challenge.
"Mama, when is Papa coming home?" Brina whines as tears roll down her cheeks.
Anna hesitates to answer her. Instead, she lovingly picks up Brina and carries her to the sofa for some snuggles.
"I don't know, sweetie," Anna admits, "But I'm sure he will be back soon."
"B-but Mama, he's been gone for a long time," Brina buries her head in Anna's chest.
Anna refrains from rolling her eyes. "Honey, he has only be gone for about a week."
"Papa was m-mad when he left. What if he never comes home?" Brina cries.
It is true. Kristoff and Anna's marriage had hit a rough patch in recent years. It was a stupid argument. Kristoff wanted to go on an ice-harvesting trip, but Anna needed him to stay in Arendelle to help guide her decision-making.
Arendelle was in a financial crisis. If Queen Anna did not make some important changes quickly, the kingdom would no longer prosper.
She called him selfish for wanting to leave her with the kids during such a stressful time. Not to mention the dangers of ice-harvesting at this time of year— the end of winter. Some of the ice has begun to thaw, making it risky to cut the ice without falling through.
He retorted that Anna was dependent and irresponsible for not being able to handle her own council meetings. She is the Queen of Arendelle, after all. This caused Anna to burst with anger. Kristoff only made it worse when he yelled back.
The worst part is that Neva and Brina heard the entire thing. Lumi was asleep in the twins’ room, but Brina had just woken Neva up to go with her to the kitchen because she wanted some water. The girls heard the commotion from their parents’ room and decided to eavesdrop.
Neva knew better than to listen to her parent's argument, but she couldn't pull herself away. Brina remained uncharacteristically quiet during the event.
So, what if? What if Kristoff chooses not to return? Anna shivers at the mere thought.
Thankfully, Elsa came a few days ago to assist Anna with the children, along with the council meetings. Anna truly can not fathom what she would of done without her older sister this week.
Anna takes a deep breath and looks at her daughter's chocolate brown eyes, "Brina, I know he will come home to you. He loves you, Lumi, and Neva far too much to just leave."
The six year old girl lifts her head to look at her exhausted Mama. "He s-still l-loves you right, Mama?"
Anna brushes Brina's fiery red hair, the same shade of her own, out of her daughter's face. "Of course, he still loves me, sweetie. Mama and Papa just needs to have a long discussion," she strokes Brina's cheek. "He just needs to come home first," Anna mumbles to herself.
Brina rubs her eyes tiredly. "I miss him, Mama," she sighs sadly.
"Me too, snowflake," Anna kisses the top of Brina's head. "We really need to go to sleep now. I have an important meeting tomorrow morning," Anna says as she stands up, Brina clinging on to her tightly.
"Can I sleep with you tonight? Please?" her daughter begs.
"Yes, snowflake," Anna gives in. Anna's heart has been so upset this week. The least she could do is try everything in her power to make her children happy.
Once the two reach Anna and Kristoff's room, Brina has already fallen asleep. Anna tucks her in on Kristoff's side of the bed. She plants a kiss on her forehead.
Lost in her thoughts, Anna walks over to the window. She stands there for awhile, gazing at the snow falling on the icy fjord.
Anna quickly walks over to her desk and pulls out a small piece of parchment paper. She shakily writes only a few words— words that mean everything to her in this moment.
She quietly opens the window, just enough to stick her head out to call for Gale, the curious wind spirit.
Although it is hard to see in the midst of a winter storm, Anna recognizes Gale as it briskly moves a clump of fresh powdery snow towards Anna. "I don't even know if you can do this, Gale, but... I have a message for Kristoff, wherever he may be," she tells the spirit, which seems to answer by swiftly lifting the note from Anna's hand.
Kristoff, please come home...

Day 3: Your Majesty...there's something you need to know.
A/N: Thanks for reading!
TW: Major Character Death
@vuelie. @vannminner
"Your Majesty...there's something you need to know."  Kai went on to explain that there was an incident and a beloved member of the family had passed away.   Anna wasn't listening anymore, she had to find Kristoff.
The stables were cold and he had been laying there for three days.  The sound of chattering teeth blended with his broken sobs. Anna's heart nearly shattered when she saw him there.   Kristoff was clutching Sven's harness, his knuckles white. The harness had a few red dots on it, hinting at what had happened.
She touched his shoulder and he tensed.  "I could've done something. I-I should have done something...he-he was right there…"  Kristoff gulped, swallowing another breath as the tears continued to flow.  Anna was at a loss. She wanted to make him better but she didn't know how.   Her husband let out another sob and then he howled.
He sounded so broken, so desperate and she didn't know how to fix it.   Anna gently shook Kristoff. "Lean on me." She whispered and he rested his head on her shoulder.   Anna listened to his pain and fell apart. How to help you my love?  How can I make this better?
There wasn't a way.  She realized when Kristoff had finally fallen asleep.  He'd live with the pain and guilt forever. Anna wiped a tear from her cheek.  She was always fixing things but nothing could fix this.

Day One - Frozen ‘Kingdom of Covid’ Angst Challenge
-M. Lauren
-
Across the smooth surface of her hands, ice scattered. It surged up from her wrists. Snowflakes embedded deep in the pads of her fingers. There was pain, blinding pain; until all she felt was numb.
For decades she’d heard tales of men freezing to death in the mountains. A cold wind was enough to drive the largest of harvesters mad. The ice tricked them into feeling warmth. Lost and afraid, these men were taken to the brink of insanity by the deadly hands of winter. They’d plead to live while ice stilled their organs and forced them into the deepest sleep ever known.
But Elsa had never known a cold wind before. She’d never experienced the bite of ice. Her resilience to the most frigid of elements made her an outcast, yes. However, it also created a force to be reckoned with. Yet even gifted with powers direct from nature’s frozen heart, Elsa now grew weak. Her mind, her body- they fell victim to the depth of Ahtohallan’s sound.
And so as her limbs stiffened, and while her blood flow slowed; Elsa’s mind held on a moment longer.
“Anna!” she cried. Her hand extended above her head.
A final burst of power erupted from within her. Flurries of snow carried into the air. Elsa’s time was up, and her thoughts; they faded fast.
To leave my sister behind... is this how a cold wind feels?
-
An ache so deep, it hurt to breath. A thick sheen of nothingness spread throughout her brain. That nothingness sought further and further beneath her skin. There was pain, blinding pain; until all she felt was numb.
She’s known loss before, but not like this. The weight of shock was familiar. However, before she had found a will to survive, yet now she felt she had no reason left to go on. Her reason to live... taken from her. Elsa sacrificed herself. She wondered should she do the same? Anna plead for her to live, and in her place; she pledged to accept the deepest sleep ever known.
And so as her limbs weakened, and while she fell onto the floor; Anna’s mind held on a moment longer.
“Elsa...” she cried. Her bag clutched to her chest.
Time moved forward as Anna froze in place.
Cold.
Empty.
Numb.
These sensations took over, and her heart snapped in two.
To lose my sister... while a cold wind blew.

Day 1: "The wind blows a little bit colder"
A/N: Thank you for reading!!
This is my first time doing a challenge on Tumblr and my first time posting a fanfic. So here it goes! This is an AU where Arendelle was destroyed and Elsa 'died'
@vannminner. @vuelie
The wind blew a little bit colder in Arendelle   One minute the kingdom was anxiously waiting for the return of it’s Queen and then the next minute it was entirely demolished by a tidal wave that came out of nowhere.
This was how  Anna felt when her entire world was wiped out.  It was okay. She had done the right thing, but if she had done the right thing, why did it feel so wrong?
Why did it haunt her dreams?  Why did the guilt of her actions nearly kill her?
Water.  So much water. It was loud and strong.  Suddenly she was trapped underneath it. “Help!” She cried, but her screams were drowned out by the waves roaring with a vengeance. She tried to scream again but no one heard her.  No one cared. Her entire kingdom despised her.
“If only there was someone out there who loved you.”   Anna now knew how fragile love was.  It wasn’t forever like Olaf said. If it lasted forever then her sister wouldn’t have died.  She would have been able to cross the Dark Sea and stop her from going too far.
*************************************************************************************************************
Sunlight streamed through the window as Anna prepared for her coronation.  The day she would officially inherit the throne. It was supposed to be a day of celebration but Anna was numb.
It was months after Runeard’s Flood and the castle was halfway done.   Instead of a chapel the queen was to be crowned in a tent. How befitting.  Anna thought, recalling how she had destroyed her entire kingdom to help people she barely knew.
Each step towards the crown felt like a boulder had been added.   When she was finally inside the tent, the boulder had become an entire mountain.  The bishop’s words were lost in the sea of guilt and Anna just stood there smiling.  “....Queen Anna of Arendelle.” Was all she heard before the cheers of the crowd drowned her entirely.   They shouldn’t be cheering.  Ann continued to smile as tears threatened to fall down her cheeks.  Her breathing became uneven as she was suffocated by a force stronger than fear.
Black.  Darkness.  Nothing. That was all she could see as she tore the crown off her head.  Screams echoed from her mouth until her throat was raw. Until it was completely silent.  Anna enjoyed the quiet, it meant she didn’t have to feel anymore. The quiet was good.
Quiet were the tears as she gripped the green beneath her family’s headstones.  Anna dug her nails into Elsa’s headstone and sobbed. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t do it.  I couldn’t do it, because they love me too much...they shouldn’t love me…Elsa..I destroyed their kingdom.”   A cold breeze blew against Anna’s face and when she opened her eyes a snowflake had materialized in front of her.  Maybe she could hope again. Maybe it would be alright. Maybe Anna had done the right thing after all.
With a trembling hand, Anna lifted the crown and placed it on her head.  She had to do the next right thing and find Elsa.

DAY 4: WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT?
Kristoff had just returned from gathering and passing out wood to all those in the kingdom. Anna and elsa have been busy working to reach out to anyone who could help as well.
"Well all the kingdoms are working together for each other "elsa says.
Anna smiled, "Its amazing we can all come together."
After days of grueling work Anna Elsa and kristoff decide it's time to rest for a while. They would be no help with no energy and sleep.
After what seems like days elsa wakes up and walks down the staircase. "I wonder if we have missed much."
Anna is soon to follow. They both throw on their warmest clothes to have a look outside.
"It hasnt gotten any warmer " elsa says.
"This has to have a solution to it. We can't be in a deep freeze forever." Says anna.
"I know, but I just cant figure out what I am missing, what I can do." Elsa paces.
"Well the cold must have come from somewhere. "
Elsa pauses with a thinking face, and suddenly it hits her, she turns to Anna.
"Why are you looking at me like that Elsa?"
Elsa smiles, "I know what I have to do!"
Anna and kristoff look at each other fumbfounded.
"My magic alone cant chase this cold away,....but as a kingdom we have the magic". Elsa smiles.
"Ummm how no one has any magic. We have no powers." Anna is confused.
"You dont need powers to have magic, magic comes from within. Tell the guards to tell everyone in the kingdom to gather in opening in front of the castle." Elsa commanded .
After a few hours the whole front castle yard was filled with everyone, standing confused.
"Listen everyone I know it seems like a long shot but I believe we need to dig deep and use the magic within us all to undo all this cold. It may seem crazy, but love and magic from the hearts of everyone can bring forth warmth. I want everyone to get close together and link up." Elsa says loudley.
Everyone looks at each other in a dumbfounded way. But they trust in their queen and follow as they are told. Arm by arm they link together in rows and get close as they can.
"Are you sure about this elsa?" Anna asks her.
"I am never sure, but I have learned to stop ignoring what I feel is right." Elsa says.
Anna nods at her.
"Ok let's do this" elsa smiled.
Her kristoff and anna and olaf join in linking with everyone.
"Ok I want everyone to close their eyes. Feel the warmth of love that you have for your family, your friends, your children. Just focus and imagine that as a color of your choice and I want everyone to just concentrate on pushing out that color" elsa says.
It grows quiet everyone closing their eyes and concentrating. Elsa closes her eyes and digs down deep. She can feel the warmth of love spiraling into her. She closes her eyes tighter.
A beam of multi colored lights starts to grow. Streaming their way to Elsa. She feels all of the magic of love inside her. She braces herself and finally shoves out all the collected colors of love and warmth into the sky. Everyone looks up in amazement. With one last shove all the colors blast into the sky.
Anna and elsa look at each other with hope. Suddenly the colors rained down and the frost begins to thaw. The sun re appears and the warmth can be felt by every single person. She could hear the crowd gasping in happiness.
"We...we did it Elsa!" Anna hugged her tight.
"We did. We all did. Thank you everyone for all your help without you I'd never have been able to do this!" Elsa screams outloud.
The castle front burst into happiness and embracing hugs. It was finally over.....for now.
