just an appreciation post for the set itself. my GOD have they outdone themselves this time

#vip is not super my brand of humor but i was so thrilled when we first saw the set bc it all fits together SO nicely #and this. this tops it by EONS #goddd. so much i could say. where do i even START #the color scheme is so gorgeous. the depth of the green and the accents and the lighting.........#and how all of it is warm-toned in suuuuch a masterful way #all the little items scattered around the set.......#the book bindings and the layout and the furniture design...........#it all creates this really wonderful balence of being busy but not overwhelming #like instead of drawing attention away for themselves #every little piece is precisely chosen to elevate the whole of the composition #it's. incredible. the artistry of it #and the close-ups themselves...... kudos to whoever shot those because my GODDD are they perfect #truly an otherworldly level of cohesive #just. mwah. mwah. sublime #aspen tag #dropout.tv #dropout #dropout tv #smartypants

ok so...I wouldnt call myself necessarily "artistically talented", and I famously am very bad at perspectives.. but i drew a thing for @bearotonin-international

#2 hours of my life well spent id say..#and brown bear's little drawing is supposed to be Brown bear + Panda bear. but i realise that both initials fit at least two different #bears. so you can honestly interpret it as you want..#i didnt realise how hard drawing uno cards would be.. my notes app wouldnt zoom more and my fingers arent small enough for that..#but actually they do look pretty good from farther away..#also my imagining is that they cant buy furniture. because they're bears. so they have to make do with what they find..#and that polar bear in the front is playing tetris and losing..#also literally only that brown bear in the back is doing actual work lmao..#and sorry for making them all look so tiny. its really hard to draw a realistically proportionate bear..#my art

is the outlaw scrooge mcduck really so different from the comics? i keep seeing people say that

lol well of course it is! but so is the entire show. there is not a single episode of Ducktales 2017 that "fits into comic canon" cuz its a completely different canon - different characters, different backstories, different interactions, different designs, different priorities, different everything

the barks/rosa comics (since we can assume those are the comics being referenced) take place in the 1950s and ducktales takes place in the late 2010s so thats already a pretty big jump. scrooge and goldie are very different characters. fenton doesnt exist in the comics and gyro is an unrecognizably different character. also louie wouldve never had a story separate from huey and dewey.

idk why anyone would say one ep is worse than another specifically because it doesnt fit with the comics when there are zero episodes that fit with any of the comics. webby does not exist in the comics lol neither does launchpad or beakley. or duckworth. nonsensically the show said scrooge made his first million 75 years before the third ep of the show which chronologically makes zero sense but also gave the audience a fair expectation of how scrooges backstory content would be written (none of it would make any sense but we'd have fun watching it anyway)

obv people are just gonna whine all they want but as someone who loves the show and loves the comics i dont see any point in complaining that the show didnt follow the comics. 87 ducktales didnt either (some eps were loosely inspired by comic issues but the tv-only characters and personalities made it impossible to do anything that really fits) and thats fine too! the comics are the comics, the shows are the shows. completely different stories!

We have finally finished this project, and thus, The World's Worst Dating Sim is finally DONE! Just in time for April Fools Day. Now, with our six new contestants, choose, uhh... who's dateable? Or not dateable? This last batch was determined almost entirely by People Telling Us Who To Add, contains multiple AUs, and is... hmm. "Unconventional" may be a good term? Half of these are probably undateable but you can still shoot your shot.

...come to think of it, haven't we seen that face before? On a poster, maybe? Well, it's not a surprise he's been modelling for things, he's certainly got a pretty enough face for it, but why do we feel... nervous, all of a sudden?

#umineko liveblog #like. everything else has been taken seriously even when it's stupid #but this is outright dismissed the second it's mentioned. surely not..........#ough but wait. the possibility of the captive beatrice falling pregnant is rather high #and there are several plausible scenarios with which a hidden child could work #i mean if we go full cliche then the answer here is that nanjo somehow helped beatrice hide the child #making him like double compromised with kinzo. almost like a moral stalemate even #also given the date the mansion was built we can assume this kid would be in their early/mid 30s present day #only known candidate on rokkenjima who fits the criteria would be rosa but that doesn't really makes sense #either that or gohda is a good 10-15 years younger than you'd think he is #but then i'm thinking about the ushiromiya shannon stuff and wondering if there isn't an orphanage link #not that shannon's the beatrice child because she's 15 years too young for that #but perhaps the kid was concealed in the orphanage and this is where the furniture stuff comes in?#every single servant kid is less than human unless they prove themselves to be a worthy substitute for the lost child #and the abuse comes from the fact that they also bear the brunt of kinzo's rage at this kid for having slipped out of his grasp #and of course none of the servant children can ever compare to kinzo's ideal so the cycle perpetuates forever #furniture in that they're being punished for not innately being an ushiromiya successor #this also feeds into the beatrice/kinzo becoming stuff too at a slightly different angle #the children are brought on expected to carry fragments of both beatrice and kinzo and tormented when they fail to do so #meanwhile i genuinely think if a beatrice kid existed they would presently be extremely far removed from rokkenjima #like some random well adjusted adult who knows very little of their origins #meaning that even if kinzo ever found this person they too would not be a fitting ushiromiya successor #yeah i think there might be some potential for this kind of theory

So I know this isn't anything that like actually needs an apology but it'll make me feel a bit better to say it. Oof whoops this ABoT chapter is super late. Timing kinda sucks since I wanted to have some updates out while s3 was airing but

Been kinda mega busy and stressed since October with the whole condo buying thing which rolled right into immediate day 0 plumbing and boiler issues I had to get fixed and general moving hassle and financial commitment stress and I kinda just fried myself hard. Plus then acclimating to a new place without my familiar street or familiar grocery store or familiar room or any of that. Like there's no "just go home and take your mind off it" to this cuz home is the "it". So I'm just kinda enduring until I can calm the hell down.

And anyway I definitely have progress on ch47, like 7000-ish words of it, but it's the kind of like "there is writing there" and hasn't exactly hit the "there is substance there" that I want ABoT chapters to be. Like this in particular is a chapter I want to be good, not just be done. So it's taking time to get my brain somewhere that can do that.
