i have this scene in my head for asher and devin’s dad, where they are cooking together - past asher’s dad’s death - (cause the ganderas have big family feasts that entirely overwhelm asher cause he is not used to so much loud love and affection, so cooking is a big deal there) and asher is chopping something and devin’s dad goes like: ‘oh you’re good with a knife!’ and asher without thinking: ‘yeah my dad taught me’, and devin’s dad, also without thinking: ‘oh he taught you how to cook??’, and asher pauses for a sec cause he realizes that maybe his knife skills are not something to talk about so casually and he just forgot, but now that they’re talking about it he might as well: ‘..he taught me how to kill’ - cue awkward silence cause they both just kinda slipped into a moment there were asher was just a regular dude and how do you even forget something like what happened to him
