Trust (Jimmy Palmer x Reader oneshot)
I couldn't think of a better title oh no
Other relationships: Tony DiNozzo & Reader, Jethro Gibbs & Tony Dinozzo
Warning: Violence and slightly gruesome implications (nothing you wouldn't see/hear on the show), also some bits might not be super realistic and a little cliche but i mean they were fun to imagine lol Note: This is an AU where Tony's still a homicide detective and the reader is his partner. Everything else is pretty much the same. Set sometime around season 2 since Jimmy is working at NCIS. also, (F/N) = full name wheeew this one went on longer than I intended. hope you have fun! ------------------
THUD!
Jimmy flinched and stared at the evidence that was slammed into the desk in front of him. The young detective across the table glared into his eyes and spread the pictures and info out for Jimmy to see. With all they had against him, Jimmy admitted to himself that it looked bad.
“So, Jimmy Palmer,” the detective said. “I’m Detective Anthony DiNozzo. I’d say it’s a pleasure to meet you, but considering you killed a man, it’s really not. Now, it’s really late and I’d like to go home and catch an airing of Top Gun so let’s not waste time.”
Jimmy recalled what Agent Gibbs told him.
“Don’t say a word, Palmer!” Gibbs said, “When they say they can and will use anything you say against you, they mean it.”
“Using your right to remain silent, eh?” Detective DiNozzo asked. “Why don’t I go first then? It says here your occupation is… ah, right, you’re an autopsy gremlin. Bet that gives you a pretty good knowledge of the human body and ways to kill someone, doesn’t it, Palmer?”
Jimmy shifted in his seat as beads of sweat formed on his forehead.
“Did you get tired of the criminals who get to live? Decide to take matters into your own hands? Bet you just couldn’t take it when Dirk walked free after everything he did to those poor families. You were disgusted and angry, rightfully so I admit, but in a lapse of judgement,” Tony slammed his hands on the table and Jimmy near jumped out of his skin, “You grabbed him and cut into an artery with this!”
Jimmy couldn’t help but stare at the scalpel thrown in front of him.
“Was that your idea of justice, Palmer? Did you enjoy watching him bleed out until he crumbled in front of you like a dry twig?”
Jimmy swallowed and forced himself to look anywhere but at Tony. Sick butterflies were swarming in his stomach, and he knew the color draining from his face wasn’t doing him any favors. He knew Gibbs would try his best to get him out of this, but with all the evidence, could Jimmy really blame him if things didn’t work out and Jimmy ended up in jail?
Another startling thought occurred to him. If he did go to jail, could he even survive an hour, let alone however many years he was sentenced? What if he was put away for life? Isn’t it bad news if you’re law enforcement? What if his cellmate was someone he’d helped put away? What if all the people there were people he helped put away? What if he was executed!?
Jimmy was snapped out of his thoughts when another detective entered the room and whispered something in Tony’s ear. Jimmy was mesmerized in an instant. He wasn’t sure if it was just his current lack of emotional stability, but he couldn’t help but stop and think she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. Something about her very presence was comforting.
She must be the good cop, he thought,
DiNozzo sighed. “(Y/N), stay with this guy. I’ll take care of his boss.”
As Tony got up to leave, Jimmy couldn’t hide that he felt a bit relieved.
“Hi. I’m Detective (F/N),” she said, “I’d like to ask you a few more questions while my partner talks to your boss.” When Jimmy said nothing, she continued, “Gibbs seems like an honorable man. If he trusts you, there must be something to it. Care to explain your side of the story, Mr. Palmer?”
“Not a word!” Gibbs’ voice echoed in Jimmy’s mind.
“Uhm, well,” Jimmy heard himself say, “I, I-I had heard a commotion, and, uhm, when I got there, he- he was already stabbed. I-I only kneeled down to, to try and help him. That’s all! He was bleeding out, I had to do something.”
(Y/N) raised an eyebrow as she looked into his eyes. Jimmy felt different butterflies in his stomach and scolded himself for having a crush at a time like this.
  “You wanted to help him?”
Jimmy, against the mini Gibbs’ protest in his head, replied, “See, uhm, I’m in med school and I-I wanna be a doctor. We, we don’t label our patients as ‘good guy’ or ‘bad guy’... A patient is a patient no matter who they are or what they’ve done.”
The detective seemed to be considering his answer. “I see.” She bit her lip and studied the evidence in the table. Jimmy noticed a familiar look of doubt and hesitation on her face, one he often wore at work despite Doctor Mallard’s reassurance that his input mattered. Then, that look was replaced by one of shock as she stopped at one of the crime scene photos.
  Wow, her eyes were breathtaking.
“Call me crazy,” she whispered, “but… I think I believe you.”
———————
Meanwhile, Tony came face to face with an angry, silver-haired man at the front desk. Tony introduced himself and decided to go straight to business. “Sir-“
“Special Agent Gibbs, NCIS. Naval Criminal Investigative Service. I want my man released,” the older man said before Tony could finish.
“Well, ‘Special Agent Gibbs’, I’m sure as a navy cop you’ve got good judgement but I’m not releasing your man just because you ask. I want to see his innocence in big blinking letters.” Tony made what he thought to be blinking motions with his hands. “As much as I respect a brother in law enforcement, I can’t ignore that my gut tells me your guy is involved somehow.”
Gibbs seemed almost amused. “Oh yeah, Detective?”
“Yeah, and your guy isn’t going to be released until we can figure out just what it is he knows, so you can march yourself on out of here and let the ‘little guys’ handle this. I don’t think this quite counts as your jurisdiction anyways.”
Gibbs didn’t answer right away. Tony could read a hint of concern on the man’s face as he stared past him, toward where Jimmy was held. “Your gut telling you he’s guilty?”
It was Tony’s turn to take a moment to answer. “If he’s innocent, I’ll make sure the kid gets back to you, I promise.”
There it was again, something that seemed like amusement in the older man’s eyes. Tony didn’t know what to make of it.
“You keep him safe, DiNozzo,” Gibbs said. “He’s a good kid.”
    ———————
“You- you believe me?” Jimmy asked with hopeful eyes.
(Y/N) bit her lip in concentration again. She squinted at something in one of the photos, then looked over Jimmy’s personal file. “We may have overlooked something when we arrested you. You were pretty distracting,” she thought out loud as her lack of experience in interrogations began to show.
Jimmy felt flustered. He didn’t hear much of what she said for the next few seconds. A beautiful woman found him distracting? He knew what she really meant by that and shuddered to remember the girlish screams he had made during the arrest, but he also knew he was crushing hard and that meant his intelligence was dropping fast. “You can’t have a schoolboy crush on someone who’s about to arrest you, Palmer!” Gibbs shouted in his head. “If I could slap your head I would!”
“Oh, I don’t doubt it,” Jimmy said out loud without thinking.
  (Y/N) looked up. “Pardon?”
“Uhm!” Jimmy felt his face flush. “I-I- th- uh-“ he tried to get his dumb, mouth to speak, “No- uhm- what, what were you saying?”
Jimmy heard the cutest soft giggle he’d ever heard. “I was saying I noticed how many cases you helped close already and I was impressed by your career?”
Jimmy died a little. He must have looked like an arrogant fool. “Oh! Uhm!”
She smiled, “don’t worry, I could tell you spaced out. I think you may be innocent.”
  “What- why?”
“Well, call it a stretch, but you’re right-handed, and his injury looks more consistent with a left-handed assailant. Plus, you just…” She paused and looked him in the eye. He felt like he was gonna melt into a puddle. “You don’t have the eyes of a man who just killed someone.”
Jimmy sputtered out gibberish. Before he could say actual words, Tony swung the door open.
“(Y/N), let’s talk,” Tony said and nodded towards the hall behind him.
(Y/N) offered Jimmy a small, apologetic smile and followed Tony outside. As soon as the door closed behind them, Jimmy let his face hit the table with a soft thud in exasperation.
————————
“What do you think?” Tony asked once they were alone.
(Y/N) considered her answer. “He didn’t do it. If he has any involvement, it’s not intentional on his part.”
Tony sighed. (Y/N) could tell he had more to say, but instead he studied the floor. He leaned back against the wall and stayed in thought for a moment. “Okay,” he said with a light shrug. “What do you think we should do?”
The younger detective’s eyes widened. “You’re asking me?”
“Well,” Tony said with a small grin, “you are my partner. As much as I like working solo, when you have a team, you work as a team. You haven’t bounced an idea around in a while and any good detective needs experience. So, what do you think we should do?”
“I don’t, I don’t know. Did you talk to his boss?”   Tony didn’t miss the deflection, but he still answered, “Yep. Says he’s a good kid. I see it too, but unless we can prove otherwise, I don’t think ‘he’s a good kid’ is gonna work any wonders with a judge.” (Y/N) nodded. “Good point.” She paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts. “ Actually, I did see something… it’s not much, but I noticed that the victim's injuries are consistent with a left-handed suspect, not right-handed. Palmer’s right-handed. Also, I studied the crime scene photos and there's some things I want to double check on.”
Tony nodded, “Good enough for me. We can go check it out now.”
“Shouldn’t one of us stay with the suspect?” (Y/N) asked.
“I’m sure we’ll be in and out, and is he really a flight risk? I mean, kid seems too scared to move. Even if he did, I think he'd be comparable to Bambi.” He shrugged and began to walk away. “You can check on him. I’ll meet you in the car. Could ya bring the copies of the photos?”
(Y/N) realized her hands were empty. “Oh! I left them in the interrogation room! I’ll be right back.”
“Hey, (Y/N),” Tony said as he stopped and turned around. “I just want you to know trust you, okay? I want to hear from you, and you're a good partner. I know your history and I also know that you’re a good cop. If you need time, then fine, go take time, but if you’re gonna keep being my partner, try to make it a team effort, ‘kay? Throw your ideas around like uh…” He turned again to go, but didn’t leave before finishing with, “like stories at a campfire!”   - - - - - Jimmy’s head was still on the table when (Y/N) walked back in. “Mr. Palmer?”
He jumped in his seat and lifted his head to see the young detective. “It’s okay! I never get sick! I was only on the table for a second, I’ll take vitamins!” “Excuse me?”
Jimmy was screaming inside. “S-Sorry, no, I meant, uh, I’m ready for more, um, interrogation!” “I’m actually just here to grab these files. Shouldn’t have left them here in the first place.”   “Uh, let me help!” Though still handcuffed, Jimmy reached for the files and attempted to scoop them up for her, which of course ended up in him dropping the files and then trying to pick them up off the floor. Despite (Y/N) saying it really was fine, he still tried and in all the fuss, he hit his head on the table. With a short cry and a hiss he dropped all the papers and winced. (Y/N) winced with him, “Are you okay? I can get ice from the break room.”
“No no no no no,” he said, “That’s, that’s fine! Just a little bump. Maybe a bruise. Nothing, nothing serious!” “If you’re sure,” (Y/N) said. “Would you like me to at least uncuff you? I don’t think you’re a danger, except maybe to the table.”
And to my own pride, Jimmy groaned in his thoughts. “Uhm, yeah, sure. Thanks.”
(Y/N) slipped a key out of her pocket and walked to his side of the table. She came closer. Jimmy felt himself blushing again as he felt her smaller, gentle hands on his large shaky ones. His gaze then found her face and it wasn’t long until he was lost in her eyes again. For a few sweet seconds, he forgot he’d been arrested and couldn’t stop a huge goofy grin from spreading on his face.
“There,” she said. “I’ll be back.”
“Wait, Detective, can I say something?” Jimmy asked before he knew what he was doing.
She stopped and looked back at him. “Yes?”
“Um, thank you. Thank you for believing me. I, I feel better knowing that, that a good detective like, li-like you is trying to help me. I really do.”
Jimmy noticed a hint of a smile on her face and the faintest blush on her cheeks.
 “I’ll do my best.”
———————
It had all happened so fast. (Y/N) shrank behind a wall and noted in dismay that she only had two shots left. Should’ve reloaded when I had the chance, she scolded herself. Heavy footsteps began to approach her and she felt panic rise inside her chest.
“Hey,” Tony whispered beside her. “You’re gonna be fine.”
“Tony,” she all but begged, “Don’t do anything stupid. I’m sorry I got us in this mess.”
  The footsteps drew nearer.
  “Look at me.”
(Y/N) looked at her partner. Despite the quick first aid, his arm still bled from being grazed by a bullet. She knew there was no way they could’ve known the actual murderer would be crazy enough to show up at the crime scene so soon, but somehow she still felt guilty. For a few seconds, it wasn’t Tony she saw bleeding out in front of her. The world started to get blurry.
“(Y/N)!” Tony called in a harsh whisper. “(Y/N)! I’m okay! I’m okay! You’re not gonna lose me too. I don’t regret trusting you and neither did your old partner, but I need you to stay with me, okay? You can do this, trust me.”
She opened her eyes again. Just before the murderer rounded the corner, (Y/N) heard another voice in her mind.
“Um, thank you. Thank you for believing me. I, I feel better knowing that, that a good detective like, li-like you is trying to help me. I really do.”
   BANG!
(Y/N) rose back to the top of her game and jumped in front of Tony just in time. She landed her two shots and the suspect fell to the ground in a heap, crazed eyes wide.
(Y/N) panted. She began to feel cold and dizzy and her stomach hurt.
Tony reached out to catch her before she hit the ground. “(Y/N)! (Y/N) you’re gonna be okay!” He wasted no time in calling an EMT. However, he knew that they could very well be too late. Despair twisted his gut.
 “D-Detective!?” Another voice called.
Tony’s head shot up to see Jimmy Palmer and his boss running towards them. There was no time to question it. “(Y/N)’s shot bad!” His eyes begged them for help before his mouth needed to.
Gibbs nodded, “Palmer, you stay here. I’ll grab the kit!”
Jimmy shifted gears and focused on (Y/N)‘s injuries. “Bullet went through?”
  Tony nodded.
“Okay, we need to apply pressure,” Jimmy said, his voice almost devoid of emotion as he focused. He slipped off his shirt without a thought and pressed it against her abdomen. Tony put his sweater on the exit wound.
When Gibbs came back with a med kit, Jimmy did everything he could to keep (Y/N) afloat until she could be taken to a hospital. “You’ll be okay,” he whispered, “I-I promise I’m doing everything I can. Please just hold on, okay?”
  “Mhmm,” (Y/N) slurred.
While Jimmy tended to (Y/N), Gibbs looked at Tony. “You good?”
“It’s just a graze,” Tony muttered. “He better save my partner. She’s a good kid too.”
Gibbs nodded. Sirens blared in the distance. “She’ll be alright.”
  ———————
Days later, (Y/N) woke up to a knock at her hospital room’s door. “Yeah, come in,” she called to the best of her ability.
The first thing she noticed when her visitor walked in was familiar brown curls. Jimmy held a fluffy teddy bear up for her to see. “The-the uh, the gift shop was kinda limited,” he said, “this was the best I could do.”
“You didn’t have to,” she said, though she accepted the bear with a smile. “And you didn’t have to keep visiting.”
Jimmy paused just as a nurse walked in to check on (Y/N)'s vitals. It didn't take long to do, but even in that little time and, the nurse caught the quick glances between the two and sensed there was something being left unsaid.
“Honey,” the nurse said, “your boyfriend here has been asking and asking about you and has been nothing but sweet to everyone here. You found yourself a devoted and kind man. Just thought you should know.”
Jimmy felt his face go bright red.
“Oh, he’s not…” (Y/N) blushed as well, “we’re not together.”
The nurse smiled as she finished up. “Well you better act fast then before someone steals your chance.”
A short but awkward silence followed after the nurse left.
“Uh... Tony told me what happened,” (Y/N) said after the awkwardness died down. “Thank you for doing what you did for me.”
“Oh, um, don’t mention it! I’m just glad you’re okay.”
(Y/N) offered him a grateful smile. Jimmy’s heart felt like it was going to explode.
“When, when you, uh, get out of here,” he rushed to say, “would you, maybe, uh, maybe, do you wanna go… hang out with me?” He winced at how lame he thought he sounded.
(Y/N) smile never dropped. “I think I’d like that, Jimmy.”
He loved the way his name sounded from her mouth. He couldn’t help the huge smile that spread on his face.
“(Y/N), you’re awake again!” Tony called from behind Jimmy. “Good to see you, kid.”
“You too. I’m glad you’re okay.” She waved to Tony, despite the pain that came from the movement. As she watched her partner wave back, she noticed someone behind him. “Tony, is that Agent Gibbs?”
“Ah.” Tony turned around to glance at Gibbs and nodded. “Yeah… there’s something I need to talk to you about.” He looked at Jimmy. “Mind if I have a more private word with my partner?”
Jimmy shook his head. “Go ahead. I’ll, uhm, get out of your way.”
(Y/N) and Jimmy exchanged one more glance that lingered longer than either of them would care to admit.
Once Jimmy left, Tony sat himself down on a couch held up his hands to motion as he talked. “You were right, you know. About the M.E. kid? He was used as a cover. The murder weapon was from a dissection kit we found in the bushes and fingerprints and DNA proved the kid's innocence. Palmer really fancies you, and not without reason." Tony paused to let (Y/N) soak the information. He had to stifle a laugh when he saw the gears turn and she became visibly sheepish at that last sentence he uttered. "Shucks, Tony," (Y/N) joked. "Anyway, ‘Special Agent Gibbs’ said he was impressed with both of us. So impressed, in fact,” Tony said as he slipped out a piece of paper from his jacket, “that he’s offered us a job.”
(Y/N)’s eyes went wide. “Both of us?”
“I couldn’t leave my partner now, could I?” Tony flashed a signature grin as (Y/N) stared in disbelief. “You wanna be a navy cop with me? All you gotta do to seal the deal is sign, apparently. Oh, and hey, Palmer works there.”
A light blush spread on (Y/N)’s cheeks. “Okay? Why do you mention that?”
The knowing twinkle in Tony’s eyes was impossible to miss. “Oh, I think you know.”

You hum softly as you continue working on the salad to go with dinner. Jethro would be home a little later, but you always make sure he comes home to a nice, relaxing dinner.
Your guys’ son, Maddox Leroy Gibbs, was upstairs playing with his newest birthday gift. Jethro had got him a wood-carving kit and now Maddox couldn't keep his hands off it.
All of a sudden, you heard thumps before the most pained scream you've ever heard. You dropped the glass bowl of salad, ignoring the glass shattering on the ground as you race towards the crying.
There was Maddox laid on the ground, cradling his arm. You fall to your knees beside him and gently grab him.
"Baby, hey, I need you to tell me what happened. What hurts?" You ask softly.
"M-My arm!" He wails.
You gently pull his hand away as your stomach flips and your throat tightens seeing blood and bone. He screams, wailing louder.
"Look away." You demand as you stand, picking him up as you grab the keys and your phone on the way out.
You barely were able to lock the door as you run out towards your car. You get him in the booster seat, grabbing the first aid kit and quickly taping gals over it loosely so he wouldn't be able to see it.
You hurry to the drivers side, starting to drive the way that Jethro drives. You open your phone with shaky hands and dial his number. It rings and rings until it says his mailbox was full. You throw the phone down in the seat next to you as your shaky hands grip the wheel tighter as you break every driving law to make it to the hospital.
You were out of your car, running to his side of the car as you swung the door open, picking him up and running inside. Immediately nurses flank you, having you place him on a gurney before your told to move your car.
You felt irritated, but you also understood. You quickly move you car before finding your way inside. You weren't allowed to go in the room with him as they had an officer on the way to question you. You knew they thought this was some abuse case, but it wasn't. You grab your phone dialing his number again and you kept dialing until he finally answered.
"Hon, I'm in the middle of a case right now." He says irritated.
"J-Jethro, h-he fell down the stairs and he hurt his arm really bad. T-They won't let me see him! They have an officer coming to question me because they think this an a-abuse case!" You sob into the phone, ignoring the nurses who gave you the stink-eye.
"Hon, I'm on my way. Do not answer any questions. Tell them your waiting on me." He says sternly.
Before you could say anything, he had hung up. You let your head fall into your hands as you cry harder.
"I want my mom!" He wails and you stand as you rush towards him.
"Ma'am, you can't see him until you've been questioned and cleared." A nurse snaps, pushing at you.
"He's my son! I'd never hurt him! Let me see him!" You snap, trying to push through towards your son.
"Mommy!" He wails.
"It's okay, baby! Daddy's on his way!" You say as tears fall down your cheeks and big burly security guards push you back towards the little sitting area in the hallway.
They cuff your hands behind your back and make you sit as you refused to leave. You looked at the ground, your head racing as terrible thoughts went through your head.
Jethro parks his car hastily, getting out of the car as his team followed him in. He tried to get them to stay and work on the case, but they refused. Maddox was their nephew and they'd do anything for the kid.
Jethro walks in, his eyes finding you. For a brief moment, he felt relief until he saw the cuffs on your wrists.
"Take the cuffs off her, now." He barks, striding towards you.
"Sir—now!" He interrupts.
The security guard fumbles with the keys as he roughly pulls you up before Jethro pinned him against the wall. Tony grabs the keys off the floor, undoing the cuffs on your wrists.
"Don't you ever put your hands on my wife like that again." He warns.
"Hey sweet cheeks, your okay." Tony murmurs as he hugs you.
"They won't let me see him." You mumble numbly into his chest.
"They will once Gibbs is through with them." He teases and you couldn't help the small shaky smile.
"Hon, come on." Jethro says.
You walk towards him, keeping your eyes casted to the floor. His arm wraps around your waist protectively as he walks towards the desk.
"Where is my son?" He demands.
"S-She needs to be questioned." The nurse says weakly.
"My wife wouldn't ever lay a hand on our son. He fell down the stairs, kids have accidents all the time. Let me see our damn son." He snaps.
"O-Of course, right this way sir." She says and starts to lead us towards the room he was in.
You hesitate and hang back towards the doorway as Jethro heads towards Maddox who was sat up in the bed with a light blue cast on his arm.
“Daddy!” He exclaims, throwing himself towards Jethro who chuckles and catches him.
You catch sight of stitches across his eyebrows and you let a shaky breath out.
“Careful buddy, you can take someone out with that thing.” Jethro teases which makes Maddox giggle.
“I don’t really like it. It’s going to stop me from being able to do my wood carvings.” He pouts.
“I think it’s a really cool cast. You can have people sign it even! And you can take a break from the wood carving, son. I’ll get you some more while you got the cast on so we can let the supplies build up.” He says.
“Okay! Uncle Tony, will you sign my cast?” He asks.
“Of course! I even so happen to have a sharpie on me!” He exclaims with a childish grin.
Your heart aches and you sit down as you watch Maddox with soft and sad eyes. Jethro was in the corner of the room, on the phone with director as he kept an eye on Maddox as well.
You look away from Maddox and at the floor when a nurse walks in. She looks at you as if you had the plague, in which Maddox notices and frowns.
“Why are you looking at my mommy that way?” He snaps.
The nurse was taken aback as you look up alarmed. You stand, walking over to the bed and reach a shaky hand out to brush his hair away from his eyes. You leave a kiss on his head.
“It’s okay, baby.” You murmur.
He looks at you confused. He was a smart child for his age. He definitely had his fathers profiling skills, that’s for sure. He looks back at the nurse, his eye narrowing as he latches onto you, hugging you tightly. Jethro was grinning in the corner as your lips part in surprise.
“Ma’am, we still have to follow protocol.” The nurse says in which your heart shatters.
“Protocol? Mommy, what’s she talking about?” He asks, looking up at you with Jethro’s blue eyes.
“It’s nothing, baby. Mommy will be back, I promise.” You murmur.
“No. I’ll be back, buddy. Mommy will stay with you.” Jethro says.
You watch confused as he leaves with the timid nurse. Tony throws an arm over your shoulder and smiles.
“Trust me, boss will handle it. Your a good mom, don’t let them tell you otherwise.” He says.
“Are they saying your a bad mommy?” Maddox asks confused.
“I-I, no…they just have to follow protocols they put in place to keep people safe.” You explain slowly.

Thankfully, Jethro was back quickly and even somehow managed to get his prescriptions whilst filling out the discharge papers. Jethro sent the team back in the work car and was going to drive you and Maddox home. Tony offered to drive Jethro’s car home, but you settled on taking Jethro to work tomorrow as you felt guilty for calling him from work early.
Maddox was asleep in the backseat, and you were focused on the building and other structures out your window. Jethro kept glancing over, sensing you weren’t okay. He grabs your hands and squeezes it gently.
“Sorry I snapped at you on the phone earlier today, hon. I don’t want you to think you can’t call me. For now on, I’ll answer immediately if I’m not out in the field.” He promises.
“Jethro, I’m not upset you didn’t answer or that you snapped at me. I know your working on a case right now.” You say softly.
“Then what has you upset?” He asks as he pulls into the driveway.
“Nothing.” You lie, getting out of the car.
“I’ll get him. You get the door opened.” He says.
You nod, heading towards the door and unlocking it. You are greeted with blood on the ground and you immediately grab your cleaning caddy from the closet and start cleaning it up. Jethro walks in, holding Maddox. He frowns seeing your shaky hands scrub at the puddle of blood.
“Hon, I got that. Let me go put him in bed and then I’ll clean that up.” He says.
“No, it’s okay. I got it. Here, you go on up and I’ll finish this up.” You say quietly.
You move just enough so he can get up the stairs. He gets to the third or fourth step before looking back down at you concerned. His eyes find your bruised wrists and his frown deepens. He turns, focusing on getting Maddox up to bed.
“Daddy.” Maddox mumbles sleepily.
“Yes, buddy?” He asks softly, tucking him in.
“Why did the doctors think mommy is a bad mommy?” He asks.
“Because they are a bunch of knuckleheads and don’t know what a good mommy you have. Don’t worry about it, buddy.” He says.
“Daddy?” He whispers as he starts to fall back to sleep.
“Yes?” He asks.
“Can mommy give me a little brother or sister?” He asks.
“I…I mean, I’ll talk to mommy and see what she wants to do, but she loves you so much. I think she’s happy with just you.” He murmurs.
Little did Maddox know, Jethro was scared to have another one. He was scared to have Maddox after what happened with Shannon and Kelly. He barely let you in and then finding out you were pregnant nearly sent him over the edge. You loved kids and you want a whole damn school bus of kids.
Maddox goes to say something, but it was little mumbles before he was softly snoring. Jethro chuckles, brushing his hair out of his forehead before leaning down and kissing his head.
He heads downstairs to see the blood cleaned up. He goes to the kitchen where he heard you. You were sweeping up the salad and broken bowl into a pan.
“What happened?” He asks, taking the dust pan to hold it.
“When I heard Maddox scream, I just dropped the bowl and ran for him.” You mumble quietly.
“Hon, go take a bath and relax. I’ll finish the clean up. I promise you that Maddox is okay.” He says.
You hesitate, but with a stern look from him, you nod slowly. You head up the stairs, starting your bath. He finishes up the floor before he cleans up what would have been dinner. He does dishes and takes the trash out before deciding to check on both Maddox and you. He checks on Maddox first to see him sleeping.
He nears the bathroom before slowing his steps as he hears your muffled crying. He walks in and sees your face buried in your knees, suds covering your bits from view.
“Hon, what’s wrong? Are you hurt?” He asks, kneeling by the tub.
“Why am I such a bad mom?” You sob.
“Y/N, what are you talking about?” He asks.
“He’s hurt because of me, Jethro. Those nurses had every right to look at me like that. I’m a terrible mom. There was blood, everywhere and the bone was sticking out. His screams…gosh his screams were so loud. I didn’t even notice he cut his eyebrow until I saw the stitches.” You sob.
“It’s not your fault, Y/N. He’s a kid and kids have accidents. Maddox loves to run throughout the house and we could tell him until we were blue in the face not to run in the house. He slipped and fell. It wasn’t your fault. You know how many times I got hurt as a kid? A lot. We can’t protect him from everything as much as we wish we could. Things like this will teach him why we tell him not to run in the house or why not to go outside barefoot. We can only do so much. Your an amazing mom. He knows so.” He murmurs, rubbing your back.
“I can’t even look at him. I feel terrible. It’s all my fault.” You whisper.
“It’s not your fault and you know that. He knows that and I know that. He knows your a good mom. He told me when he woke up briefly because he caught onto the way the nurses were treating you. He actually wants another siblings. He told me.” He says, sighing as he plops on the ground.
Your head flies up, your eyes wide as you look at him. You reach a hand out and grab his hand, rubbing it gently.
“You know we don’t have to. I know how scary it was when you found out I was pregnant with Maddox. I am perfectly content with Maddox and you.” You say softly.
“I think I might want another one. Maybe we’ll get a little girl this time.” He murmurs.
“Really?” You ask surprised.
“Yeah.” He says with a soft smile.
“Your such an amazing dad, Jethro. Maddox absolutely loves you. He always tells me that he wants to be an NCIS agent just like you.” You say with a soft smile.
“And your such an amazing mom. He tells me all the time. He also tells me how much he loves you and how much he wants to make you proud. Whether it be cleaning up his toys or helping with the groceries. He loves you and he idolizes you so much.” He murmurs.

Gibbs x Reader One Shot
Prompt: You’re Gibbs’ wife and an NCIS agent and see your underage son at a bar while out on a sting operation.
Mentions of drinking.
You fixed your earrings in the car mirror and made sure your ear piece was secured.
“Testing audio. Y/L/N, you look absolutely ravishing in that dress. You should wear it more often,” Tony flirted.
“Jethro. Smack him for me please.”
All you heard was the familiar sound of hand meeting head and smiled.
“Alright so we need to make sure he either provides us with the name of his boss or the address where they’re hiding him. Remember, he only agreed to this meeting because he thinks you’re a double agent. Don’t leave the bar with him and if he gets spooked, we’ve got Torres inside already at the bar,” your husband lectured.
“Yes honey. I got it.”
You walked across the parking lot and into the semi crowded club, looking for your mark without seeming obvious. You spotted Nick first, pretending to nurse a drink at the bar and then saw your mark, sitting not far away at a high top table.
You walked over and took a seat across from him.
“Powell?” you asked.
“Yeah. You must be Agent Stanton,” he confirmed.
“So how do you want to do this? You gonna give me the name of your employer? Or I’ll settle for an address of where he’ll be.”
“Slow your role Agent. We’ll get there. First I wanna know a little bit about you. How is it that an NCIS agent with an outstanding background turns on her own?”
Remembering the backstory Abby created for you, you rolled your eyes and recited your lines. “It was a good run for a while. But doesn’t pay nearly as much as gun running.”
He nodded and sat back in his chair, thinking.
“Listen. If you’re not the guy to come to for stuff like this, I can find someone else. You just seemed like someone in charge.”
He scoffed, clearly offended, “Oh I am, and if anyone says anything different they find out the truth real quick.”
“Did Agent Carter find out the truth?”
He squinted his eyes at you in suspicion just as a familiar laugh broke through the silence.
Turning your head, you look over towards the VIP section of the club and can’t believe what you see. Your 17 year old son laughing and drinking with a bunch of older men and women. Had you not been on an important op, you would’ve walked over and dragged him out of there by his ear.
“Before we continue, I need a drink. Would you like one?” You ask, grabbing your purse and trying to contain your anger.
“Another Jack and Coke.”
You nodded and turned to walk toward the bar.
“What are you doing?” Tony asked through the ear piece.
“Jethro. I just spotted our son laughing and drinking with a bunch of people in the VIP section. Do something now before I march over there and blow this whole operation.”
“Torres. Get over there and bring him out here to us. Quietly,” Jethro ordered.
As you reached the bar, Torres left and you ordered 2 whiskey and cokes, genuinely now needing a drink. While walking back over to your table, you saw Torres pulling your son aside out of the corner of your eye.
“Here you go. Now. Where were we?”
————
You stomped over to the surveillance van and threw open the doors, meeting the eyes of your son who already looked like he had been thoroughly chastised.
“Tell me why on God’s green earth were you in that club with a group of people twice your age!”
Tim and Tony were both quiet as your husband stood in the back with his arms crossed. “I wasn’t even drinking mom. My friend invited me and knew the bouncer. I was just having fun.”
“Having fun? You do know that is a place where very dangerous individuals like to hang out don’t you? You could’ve “had fun” in so many different ways than what you did. You put yourself at risk for all different types of dangers, not to mention arrest, had anyone knew you were underage!”
He stayed quiet, not looking you in the eyes and took a deep breath. “Out. Now. You’re riding with me and your father.”
“But Tony said I could-
“Hey now, I didn’t exactly promise anything,” Tony defended himself with his hands up.
“Get. Out. Now.”
Both him and Jethro exited the van and you all walked over to the secondary car with Jethro driving. For about half the ride, it was completely silent until you broke it.
“You are grounded for a month. No games, no computer, and you get the emergency phone only. We expect you home every night at exactly 6pm, any later without a solid excuse and your grounding sentence gets added to. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yeah.”
“Don’t yeah your mother. Does she make herself clear?” Jethro said sternly, backing you up.
“Yes, sir.”
You closed your eyes and tried not thinking about all the ways the night could’ve gone wrong. Jethro must of sensed your anxiety because you felt his hand rest on your thigh and give it a reassuring squeeze.
“We’re not trying to be mean S/N. We just want you to really understand the dangers in what you did and that it can’t go unpunished. We love you.”
“I know. Love you guys too,” he answered, softly, making you tear up.
“Now we’re gonna go home, you’re going to give us all your electronics and then help your father down in the basement.”
There was an obvious groan from him and you both smiled. Putting your hand on top of Jethros, you lock eyes with him and he gives you his famous smirk.

A very smol blurb inspired by the end of NCIS ep 11.2 so I can cope with my very big feelings (no spoilers, just discussion of our poor honey’s injury)
Pairing: Jethro Gibbs x wife!reader
__________
The door is unlocked and the lights are off when you come home which, normally, would be par for the course if not for the truck in the driveway with its hood still warm. Slipping inside and shaking off the fall chill, you drop your coat and keys by the door before stepping out of your shoes and making your way further into the house.
“Jay?” you call out into the darkness. “Y’here? You know I don’t do well with jump scares.”
“Better brace yourself then,” he counsels, and you can tell now that he’s in the kitchen. The small overhead light flickers to life, and you take in a shuddering breath, followed by an eloquent, “Son of a fucking whore, who did this to you?” Shaky fingers reach up to graze the fresh bruise blooming on his face, and you wince at the sight of multiple cuts and his bloodshot left eye. “I bet that fucker’s regretting messing with you, huh?”
“Easy, love,” he murmurs with a smile, delicately taking your wrist in his hand and brushing his lips over your knuckles. “Your mouth could rival a sailor’s.”
“Oorah and all that jazz,” you fire back easily. “Answer the question, Jethro.”
“Which one?”
“Jethro.”
“Name’s not important. Locked up and taken care of,” he finally provides as he pulls you into a hug. You nuzzle into his solid chest and tease, “Bet he’s got an uglier mug than you now, hm?”
“You married this ugly mug.”
“And aren’t I just the luckiest gal in the world?” You guide him over to the small table and gently nudge his shoulder. He takes the hint and settles into the chair, finally releasing some tension from the day while you card your fingers through his hair. “I’ll get you some ice.”
Tilting his head back to rest against your tummy, he looks up at you with the closest thing to puppy dog eyes he can muster in his current state. “Make it a beer? It’ll be a twofer.”
“Got it,” you answer, sliding milk and eggs aside to reach for the six pack of your husband’s favorite local brew. You hear the phone ringing as you extract yourself from the fridge, and when you return to his side, Jethro heaves a sigh before lifting the device to his ear with a quiet, “Hey, Ziver.”
You twist off the cap to his beer before placing it down by his hand, then give his shoulder a firm squeeze and press a delicate kiss to his cheek. He places his hand over your own and squeezes back, looking up to meet your gaze with a small smile.
After one more brush of your lips against his temple, you head upstairs to shower and change. He’ll come find you when he’s ready.

A Driving Force
An ancient ask from an old friend, it came to me in a dream. Viola.
Gibbs x Reader | No use of [Y/n] | 3.2 k | Mentions of Childbirth, swearing, pregnancy, mentions of sex, fluff with little to no angst
Pregnancy has got you ready to throttle your husband.
Tumblr media
Nearly eight months pregnant, and you are going to kill someone.
Someone's name is Jethro.
Jethro, who- after your first baby- thought it would be a swell idea to have another (don't get me wrong, he is more than good at making them, it's the labor and the first trimester that does you in.) Jethro, who is at work and not at home making you tea or rubbing your calves, or doing literally anything other than being at work. It's driving you nuts, and your son may as well be training for the baby Olympics. There's no reprieve, not with a heating pad, not with an exercise ball, not with the piss-poor excuse for a nap you'd tried to take, nothing.
So you do what anyone would've done: You drive your ass to his work and give the security guards some vaguely veiled threats to let you up to the bullpen.
And naturally, he's nowhere to be found.
"I am going to kill that man," you grumble, reclining in his chair, leaning your head back, and closing your eyes. Ironically enough, the background noise helps- you feel more relaxed than at home.
The elevator dings, and in comes the trio. (McGee- you assume- is down in the lab. Jethro says he prefers it to fieldwork some days.) And- naturally- they're yelling.
"I had him!"
"You had shit! That dude outran you by miles! He's halfway to Timbuktu right now!"
"Dinozzo-"
"Boss, I am telling you-"
"Dinozzo."
They stop in the bullpen, and you stand, hand over your stomach, and downright glower at your husband. "Leroy."
Tony's face crumples into something like horror, Kate looks like a bomb might go off, and Jet- well, he looks a little south of terrified. As he should.
"Sweetheart," He walks toward you, hands outstretched, and immediately goes in for a gentle peck on the cheek. You swat him away. He frowns comically.
"Your son is driving me up a wall."
"You shouldn't be driving like this," he reaches down and caresses the bump. Damn him and his soft voice. Usually, you only hear it in the comfort of your home, never at work, and maybe that's what melts your resolve of putting up a fight.
You sigh, slouching into him and leaning your head into the crook of his neck. He takes it all in stride, cupping his hand on the back of your head, drawing circles with his thumb on that place where the base of your skull meets your neck. It makes you fall apart like a card tower. You groan- he has the decency not to laugh, just winds his other arm around your waist. "Is he giving you a hard time?" It's asked softly, gently, kindly, with all the warmth of a roaring fire and the bourbon in the basement. This is the Jet that makes you question if he's really an agent.
"He's been kicking my bladder for hours," you groan into his shirt. It smells like sawdust and mint. "You'd think he's training for boot camp in there."
Jethro rubs gently at your waist- Tony and Kate sit quietly at their desks and have the decency to stop arguing. Tony even takes a field trip to God knows where- it makes you smile. "Better or worse than Dani?"
Dani is your nearly five-year-old. A bundle of joy and Jethro's entire world, she has a smile to light up a room.
And a temper to rival Hell, she gets it from her dad, but he handles her well.
You scoff. "Dani didn't take up gymnastics, and if I recall correctly, you missed the first eight hours of my labor."
"Twenty more to go- didn't miss much." You smack him gently on the back, and he only chuckles and continues to rub the muscles of your hips and neck. "You damn near broke my hand."
"Twenty-eight hours of labor, Jethro. You're lucky I didn't break every bone in your body and shoot you." He mumbles something like 'touche', and you stand in silence for a moment. Jet quietly says 'here' and untangles himself from you (you nearly kill him) until he spins around. Facing your back and winding his arms around to your stomach, he reaches underneath your bump, intertwines his fingers, and lifts.
You come this close to moaning in the middle of NCIS headquarters.
Jet started doing this sometime towards the end of the second trimester when your bump became less of that and more like a mound. (These days, it feels more like a mountain.) The muscles in your abdomen relax, and the relief is instantaneous. Your head lols back onto his shoulder, and you kiss the underside of his jaw. "Thank you."
It comes out in a whisper, but he gets the idea and returns the gesture to your forehead. "'Course sweetheart," And then you just stand there. It could be hours- it could be seconds. Realistically, it was probably closer to ten minutes. Jethro is strong, despite his age and his appearance. If you asked him he could probably do this for another hour and then some. Come to think- he'd do anything you asked him to. And you'd do the same, quite frankly, but right now- right now this is plenty.
Jethro releases the weight of your baby boy slowly, oh-so-gently and it nearly makes you sob (damn pregnancy hormones) and hugs you from the side, careful not to undo the release he's just given you. You peck his cheek, leaning into the embrace, and close your eyes.
And then water splashes down your leg, down your pants, and onto a puddle in the NCIS bullpen.
Motherfucker.
Echoed both in your head and out loud by your husband, Tony chooses this perfect moment to come barreling into the room. "Boss, we got something- oh shit."
"Dinozzo, go get my car," and Jet hurls the keys at Tony's head. Tony, with all his goofiness and jokes, makes none about the situation and beelines for the staircase, Kate hot on his heels.
Contraction number one hits with full speed, nearly taking you to your knees, and Jet hugs you around your waist, keeping you from collapsing and yanking the phone from his back pocket. "If the nurse doesn't give me an epidural this time, you have my full permission to shoot them."
"Yes ma'am," he says, throwing the phone onto his desk. You don't see what he's done with it, you're too busy trying to stand.
The contraction fades, you rise, and Jethro rises with you. "You're early."
"Dani was three weeks early," you breathe deeply through your nose and out through your mouth.
"This is nearly four."
"Well, then, Jet, get a damn move on." And move he does. He makes sure you're standing steady first, before flying behind his desk to grab a bag. You do a double take. "You keep the hospital bag in your office?"
He gives you a quick peck on the cheek, slinging the bag over his shoulder and guiding you toward the elevator. "Been with me for two months now, sweetheart."
You're going to sob.
Jet's gentle hand on your elbow and back gets you both to the elevator in one piece. An agent- you don't know who- is standing there as the doors ding open. Jethro gives him a look that could freeze over hell as he turns around to ask what floor, and the mystery agent steps out.
You poke the 'G' button as another contraction punches through you. Jet gets you to lean against the cool metal wall as the elevator begins to move, and you grip his forearm tight. You're not swearing, not yet, just breathing deeply, but at this rate, you'll be calling the doctor a fuckwad the minute you walk through the hospital doors.
Tony and Kate (bless their hearts) have the car running right out of the elevator in the parking garage. Tony reaches for your arm to help you in but a sharp, "Hands off my wife, DiNozzo!" Stops him dead in his tracks. Kate steps in as Jet throws the bag in the backseat. He opens the passenger door while Kate leads you.
"You're gonna do great, call us when the baby's here, and we'll handle the case, Gibbs." The last part is directed toward your husband, who takes your other forearm as you sit gingerly in the car.
He drives like Jethro. Which is to say: Like a maniac.
You don't complain, even if it feels like you're in the middle of a police chase. He cuts the fifteen-minute drive to the hospital in half, skidding to a halt in front of the maternity wing, and barely remembers to turn off the car before reaching behind him to snag the bag and half-carry you to the doors. You can hardly blink before they've got you in a room, changed into a hospital gown, and are telling you to push.
Mike Leroy Gibbs' labor clocks in at a whopping two hours.
It's a very painful two hours. Jet may have threatened several doctors and nurses to give you an epidural (who complies, you don't know the details and you don't want to.) They whisk him away to check vitals and clean him up, though Jet also threatens to maim or seriously injure someone if Mike isn't in your arms in fifteen minutes.
He's returned rather quickly (you have a feeling you'll have to do damage control when you give a shit.) And he is the cutest bundle of warm brown hair and the brightest blue eyes you ever did see.
You don't let Jethro hold him for something close to an hour, you damn near fall asleep with him on your chest for a little while, but with a soft, "Jet, look at your son." He takes him
Jethro is pretty quiet while he holds him- he was the same with Dani, awestruck by her existence and speechless. He coos at Mike, who's fast asleep, and sways him gently back and forth. He sits down, the armchair pulled as close to your hospital bed as it can get, with one hand cradling your son and the other holding your hand, rubbing gentle circles on the meat of your thumb.
(You crushed his forearm during labor. Not literally, Jethro is still injury free, but there will be bruises in a few days. He knows how sore you are though, and if he wasn't occupied with his new son, you'd be sure he'd be giving you a massage. He was just as good- if not miles better- than when you gave birth to Dani. He was on a case, deep cover, and didn't get the phone call from Ducky or the hospital until you were well into labor. Ducky's phone call was far more urgent- Gibbs drove at least forty over to get to you.)
"Jet, I gotta call Donovan, he still has two more days with Dani-"
"Already taken care of sweetheart."
You're going to melt. Absolutely dissolve into a pile of lovey-dovey goo. "Thank you."
He brings your hand to his lips to kiss each of your knuckles. "He's on his way, your brother drives slower than I do-"
"Jethro, everyone drives slower than you."
The corner of his lips twitch upward at that, and he doesn't argue.
The room is... nice. It's the only way to describe it. You feed Mike, and Jet is respectful and goes to find you OJ while you do it. "It doesn't make me uncomfortable, hun. Figured you could just use some time with him, skin to skin."
Yeah, you're gonna cry.
You actually do, while he's away and Mike has finished. It's not sad tears, they're definitely happy. When Jethro comes back he seems to know it, you don't even have to say anything, he just sits on the side of the bed, curls an arm behind your shoulders, and pets your hair. There are kisses laid atop your head, and he rubs your bicep. He whispers in his soft voice, the one you're so used to hearing that when you visit him at work his 'Boss' tone makes you do a double take. (Is it hot? Absolutely. But there's nothing quite like the quiet tone he uses when he asks if you're ready for bed.)
You sniffle, Mike shifts in your arms as Jethro wipes a tear and a series of gentle knocks at the door sound through your hospital room. One, two, three, four, five, heads poke through the sliver in the open door. "Boss? Can we come in?"
Gibbs looks to you for permission before answering. You nod and smile softly, and he beckons to the agents. Abby and Kate file in first, closely followed by Tim, then Ducky, who holds the door open for Tony, who's carrying two huge plastic bags filled with something that smells magical.
Abby gives you the first hug, careful to avoid your newborn, she wraps an arm around your shoulder while Jethro untangles himself from you to help Tony. ("Did ya buy enough for the whole wing, Dinozzo?")
Kate comes in next, taking Abby's place with a hug around your shoulder. You share grins, and she asks you how the labor was- the conversation is easy and nice. (Everyone knows how bad Dani's labor was. You've come into the office a few times a month, usually with coffee or breakfast, or-hell, even dinner for your husband and his crew when the nights turn long. You used to come in once a week during the first trimester. You and Gibbs would be in the NCIS bathroom with your head in a toilet, hair held back, and circles rubbed on your shoulders. Those were rough days.)
"Do you wanna hold him?"
Kate looks a little dumbstruck. Ducky and Tim are giving her encouraging glances, grinning ear to ear. "Y-you're sure?"
You smile up at her, readjust, and hold Mike out. "Make sure to support his head, arm under his neck, keep the blanket- there you go." Kate kinda giggles- a breathy laugh escapes as she turns toward Gibbs and grins wide. He smiles back- then wider to you- and winks. To this day, it still gives you butterflies.
Kate moves around the room- pacing in circles, bounces your son in the crook of her elbow, and quietly talks with Ducky. Tim comes in for a small hug. "Congrats, Mrs. Gibbs. You feel alright?"
You scoff and pull him in with both arms. "I'm exhausted- I think Jet threatened someone for an epidural."
You give him a peck on the cheek as he steps back, unfolding himself. Tim blushes pink and smiles. "Anything I can do? Food? Clothes?" You nearly start crying again. "I make a mean quiche, waffles too- Abby's can vouch for me-"
You laugh (Jethro's eyes light up at the sound, Tony notices.) "That sounds wonderful, Tim. Thank you, I mean it."
He smiles, genuine, and you get the feeling sometimes Tony and Kate are a little hard on him. Then you remember how they rallied when he was in the hospital from a gunshot wound, and all those thoughts fade away.
"McGee! Get over here!" Tony yells from across the room, gesturing with a plastic knife.
Kate comes over to hand back Mike, but you gesture to Ducky. "Go ahead, Duck. I'm sure you've had your fair share of holding babies, don't make me lecture you."
Ducky smile kindly (everyone seems to be smiling lately, and as cheesy as it sounds, it makes you happy. The my-heart-hurts-with-happiness way. You think the work is thankful, but even that seems too small of a word for what you feel.) Kate hands Mike over, carefully, slowly- his head fits neatly into the palm of her hand, where it waits until Ducky re-settles the blanket over him.
Duckys' a natural- he sways with Mike and regals him with PG versions of his cases. Mike, sleepy and half-conscious, wiggles out of the blanket and wraps one of his teeny-tiny hands around the doctor's fingers. Abby and Kate coo and fold the blanket back over your son. They wiggle their own fingers at him, but Mike stays sound asleep, shifting minutely in Ducky's arms.
Tony comes in next for a one-armed, light hug. (You suspect Jet is behind that- you pull him in all the same. )
"Gibbs mentioned you were hungry," he gestures to the small table ladened with takeout boxes. "Said you were craving pasta."
You pull him back for another, tighter hug, gifting him with a peck on the cheek too, "Thank you, Tony, that's really sweet of you."
He blushes lightly, with a smug sort of look on his face. "You guys can keep the leftovers- McGee's idea."
You give his hand a squeeze instead of words, but he seems to get the idea, winking and holding up your shoulders while you sit up as Jet brings a plate over. He doesn't chastise Tony for his hand placement or the still-visible blush painted across his neck and cheeks, but you're more focused on the heavenly-smelling, rich, and sauce-loaded noodles being presented to you.
You groan. "You are a saint, hun. Thank you." You grab the plate and fork with eager hands. Tony laughs and meanders off to grab a plate of his own while Jet sits on the side of your bed. He's got his own plate- carefully portioned and balanced on one knee as he catches a noodle falling off your fork and nearly onto the sheets.
"Thanks," you reply with a mouthful, but it comes out more like a grunt. Jet gets the message anyway, smiling down at you. You're more at an even height now that you're sitting up, and you watch cheerfully as Ducky looks to you for permission to pass Mike to Abby.
Tim and Kate are chatting quietly. They look over at you and Jet once and a while. (You get the sneaky suspicion you won't have to cook or do chores in the house for months.) Tony is still ladling noodles onto his plate, and you watch as he hands a similar one to Ducky.
You didn't notice when they first entered- or maybe she was hiding it- but there's a little (not-so-little) bag sitting at Abby's feet as she takes Mike oh-so-gently from Ducky. You guess it might be something black- it'll contrast with his eyes, and you giggle internally at the thought. Abby sways over to Tony, rocking Mike in her arms- you think Tony calls him Giblet Number Two, and you roll your eyes playfully.
It hits you suddenly how happy you are, nearly knocks you breathless as you watch everyone crowd around Abby as Mike opens his eyes. This is... wonderful. You don't have words for it: you have everything you can ask for and more, and Jethro seems to read your mind (as always.) He reaches down to squeeze your free hand, looking sideways through his eyelashes. "I'm proud of you, sweetheart."
You smile tearily at him. "I know."

It all started with Bradley counting every time it hurt. This is what Carole had taught her son to help him cope with life's disillusion. Grievance, anger, mourning... Bradley had experienced them all, and they all left a scar deep within his soul. This is why he had started boxing - to evacuate all the negative and brutal turmoil his soul was undergoing. Since then, he kept boxing as a tradition but also as a way to work out during his free time. For sure, he worked a lot and could not go to the boxing gym as much as he wanted, but today Maverick granted him a leave. After weeks of harsh training, Rooster could relieve the stress that had accumulated within. Each blow against the punching bag felt like a sweet release.
One punch for the excruciating training.
One punch for Hangman, just because he is a dick.
One punch for his ex, who had just broken up with him weeks ago.
He was about to throw another punch at the poor hanging bag when the sound of a girl grunting in pain snapped him out of his thought. Rooster stopped and swept the room with his warm hazel eyes. There he saw her ... It was Leroy Gibbs' daughter - oh, he had only caught sight of her once, but he had found her so attractive that he could not forget her beautiful face.
The girl was hitting her punching ball as if her life depended on it. She was staring at it, her brows frowned, and her wet, shining lips were curled up as a wild feline hissing at his enemy. She threw a brutal punch, so brutal that the chain from which the punching bag was hanging produced a loud jiggling sound. No one quite noticed her, for the place was almost empty and the few men training here were packed together at the weight section, at the other end of the gym. Rooster took off his thick red boxing gloves, far too busy observing her to keep it up with his training. He ran one of his hands through his sweaty blonde curls, some of them sticking to his temples and forehead.
"Fuuuuuuck you!"
You growled, louder. The violence with which your first hit the bag was so ferocious that the skin on your knuckles -already damaged by one full hour of enraged boxing- broke open. Bradley thought you would stop beating that poor punching bag now that you wounded yourself, but you kept hitting it again and again. Blinded by a destructive rage, your body seemed desensitized to pain. Self-control broke down, you were a wild fire.
If at first the pilot had been intrigued and amused by your determination, he grew worried. Rooster easily recognized the sparkle of hatred that was shining in your teary and infuriated eyes, for he had the same look years ago. He clenched his jaw as he noticed you smearing your blood all over the punching ball with your wounded knuckles - he was torn between conflicting feelings. Somehow, your problems were your business, not his. His life was already busy enough and, to be true, he had his own mishaps to deal with. But, his inner voice reminded him of the time he had been like her - lost, filled with rage and sadness. He would have loved someone to take care of him. Or just someone to tell him that everything will be fine, at least. Rooster sighed and walked towards you.
"I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!"
You hissed through your teeth. Sweat burning your eyes, blood dripping from your hands, you growled again and punched the bag with all your remaining strength, the movement directly coming from your whole shoulder. Yet, your knuckles never met the smooth surface of the bag, for someone had grabbed your elbow and forced you to stop. Surprised, you turned and glared at the man who was holding your arm firmly.
"Hey, calm down girl." Bradley's deep voice was candy-coated with an indescribable softness. It was the first pet name that came to his head
"Leave me alone!" You hissed again, showing your teeth.
"I know you are angry but you are bleeding."
His words pulled you out of your blinding hatred. You blinked several times, chasing away the beads of sweat that had formed on your eyelashes. Then, your eyes looked where Rooster's irises of honey pools were staring at. Red and warm blood was oozing from slits on each of your knuckles. As soon as your brain realized it was your hand, an unpleasant tingling pain blossomed at their spot. You winced, then looked at the tall blonde and curly man that was in front of you. Rooster gently released your arm.
"Nevermind." You chased away his hand with a hasty movement and turned around, back to him. You really did not want to talk at the moment.
Rooster hesitated: should he leave you? He shook his head. Something had attracted him, something that he had seen in your eyes. Your pain and his were similar. This sole observation was enough to convince him he was taking the right decision. No matter what happened, he would be there for you.
"Are you sure you're good?"
Six words.
One deep yet caring voice.
It was all it took for tears of anger to overflow.
Rooster gently pressed one of his large, warm, and calloused hands on your shoulder. Looking at you with concern, the pilot's fingers closed around your clavicle to anchor his presence. He was there, and he wanted you to feel it.
"There, it's okay."

Don't ask me what I'm doing. Can't be productive today so I wanted to write a little blurb with reader as an angry brawler girl, a good boxer, and Gibb's daughter.

It is the Green-Eyed Monster Which Doth Mock
Paring: Alden Parker x Fem!Reader
Genre/Warnings: Fluff, Romance, a little spicy at the end, but nothing graphic. Implied age gap.
Word Count: 1, 991
Summary: After learning about Joy, you’re left feeling a little worried that perhaps the situationship you thought you had with Parker was all in your head.
Tumblr media
GIF by shinsfangirling
Parker's apartment was always cozy to you. Especially the patio with all the greenery and thoughtfully placed couches and chairs. You sat curled up on the more comfortable chair, your foot propped on the center table with a book in hand. Yet, despite the calming environment, you felt your heart ache inside your chest.
You lived with Parker.
Not because you two were in a committed relationship. It started before you knew much about him. You were forced out of your apartment due to black mold, and Parker offered you a place to stay until everything was sorted out. Of course, finding an affordable apartment wasn't easy, but Parker assured you he didn't mind you staying with him. Things were a little awkward at first, but after a while you two started to learn one another, and you realized you had more in common with him than you thought possible. Parker was much older than you, and you never thought you would see him as anything more than the guy who took Gibbs' place. But against your better judgment, you started to develop feelings for him.
You exhaled—a long sigh escaping your lips. Your friendship with Parker was changing slowly, and everything about the new development felt delicate as if it could slip through the cracks at any given moment. It started with long talks on the patio, sitting together on the green leather couch. Parker would break out the wine, and you would talk for hours. You loved to listen to him talk about bird watching. Which was something you found yourself interested in since learning he cared about it so much. Those long talks turned to sleepy smiles, innocent touches, and sometimes soft words that made your heart swell with so much love for him. Parker was really sweet underneath it all, and you could tell he liked talking you you as much as he enjoyed listening to you. His eyes would sparkle as you spoke, casting down to your mouth with a gentle expression on his face. He would lean closer toward you, mirroring you as if your body guided his own. It was magnetic and left your heart racing, and your face tingling with every gaze and every smile sent your way.
Your thoughts drifted to that one late night only a few days ago. You talked for a while before you both turned your attention to other things. Parker started flipping through a bird-watching book while you scrolled through your phone on social media. You enjoyed the comfortable silence that brewed between you. You understood each other and didn't need to say anything. You eventually fell asleep against the couch with your phone still in your hand. Parker must have tried to wake you, and you must have fought against him, because he lifted you straight into his arms. Your head rested comfortably against his shoulder, and you could hear his heartbeat so close to your ear as he carried you across the apartment. Just as he placed you in your bed, his hand brushed your hair from your face. It was a sweet gesture, and you could still fill the brush of his fingertips against your burning skin. When you opened your eyes, his face was only inches from yours, and you could have sworn you saw love in his eyes. He wished you a good night and left you with your racing thoughts that kept you up the rest of the night. But then suddenly Joy entered the picture. You could still recall Parker's reaction when realizing their suspect was his old flame's son. How he acted around her when they went to her house, and how nervous he was to see her again. Everything about it made you question whatever was happening between you and Parker. Perhaps it was all in your head, and he saw you more as a daughter than a potential romantic partner.
You sighed again, and this time there was a response you did not expect.
"You okay?"
You jumped slightly, averting your gaze to the doorway to see Parker was back home. You closed the book before running your fingers through your hair. "Yeah, just the book, you know?" You tapped on the cover, but he didn't seem convinced by your answer. Instead, he frowned before moving to settle on the green couch.
He matched your sigh, "Something is bothering you. I can read you like a book."
"You read? Here I thought you just looked at pictures of birds." You teased him.
The corner of his mouth tugged slightly, and he rolled his eyes, "There she is." He said, glad to see your spirit back. He studied you a moment, and you suddenly felt as if you were on fire under his intense scrutiny. "You haven't talked to me since the case started." He said.
You tried not to show any emotion on your face. The case was over. Joy's son was innocent, and then he went to Joy's house for reasons you know had nothing to do with the case. He was there for a while with her, and you could only imagine what they were talking about. You didn't dislike the woman. You completely understood what he saw in her. But you still couldn't help but feel jealous and a little insignificant. How could you compete with her? She was much more age-appropriate for him, and they probably had more in common than you did. You scratched your nail against the front of the book as your anxiety began to build up. "Oh, I didn't realize." The words came out awkward and planned as if this was your first time forming a complete sentence. Parker must have picked up on this because his brows bounced, and his mouth tightened in thought. You were a special agent, better than this, yet you couldn't fake it.
"Did I do something to upset you?" He asked, leaning forward with his arms over his knees, and his hands twined together nervously as he gauged your reaction. "If I did, I'm sorry."
"No, you didn't upset me. I'm upset with myself." You said, knowing he wouldn't just let that be the end of it.
"Oh? What does that have to do with not talking to me?" He pressed on.
You wanted to sink into the chair and cease to exist, but you responded anyway. "I suppose you've been preoccupied with something else recently." You weren't making any sense, but he was a clever man, and he was starting to put the pieces together. He released a soft sigh before leaning back slightly and gesturing for you to sit with him. You didn't move. You instead stared at his chest, refusing to make eye contact with him.
"Come over here." He said, and your gaze automatically flickered up to meet his. He was giving you an intense look that you couldn't quite describe. Your throat bobbed as you swallowed your emotions before sweeping across the floor to sit with him. He moved over slightly, giving you more room before grabbing your knees and turning your body to face his. "Is this about Joy?" You bit your bottom lip, your eyes casting down again, but he wasn't having it. He hooked his fingers beneath your chin and lifted your head to look at him. "Well?"
"Maybe." You said in a whisper, and his eyes gentled. His hand on your knee tightened, and he brushed his thumb against your leg.
"Are you jealous?" He asked calmly.
"No." You said, but a little too quickly. You felt your face heat up. "No." You repeated with a quick shake of your head. You didn't want him to know you developed feelings for him. Now that you weren't sure what was going on between you, you were terrified.
"So I've meaning to talk to you." He said suddenly, "About me and you," He gestured between you, "And whatever this is."
"It's nothing, Parker. You don't have to explain anything, please. Can we just forget this conversation?"
He looked taken aback by your words, "Is that what you want?"
"Is that what you want?" You shot back, feeling so much anxiety that your palms started sweating.
"No. I was going to say I know this isn't the most conventional development, but we have a connection, but apparently, I was wrong." You watched as an adorable shade of pink reached his cheeks. You never thought you'd see the day Parker blushed, but there he was, sitting flustered before you.
"You still love her, don't you?" You queried, needing to dig more into this mystery woman from Parker's past.
He looked conflicted for a fleeting moment as if he didn't know how to answer in a way that would satisfy you. "I love the memory of her." He said, obviously trying to choose his words carefully. "Everything I feel for her is just me reflecting on the past. I care for her, but I can't look back. I have to move forward."
You sat there with a pensive look as you listened to Parker's explanation. It made sense. Joy was a feeling of first love nostalgia, but he would rather look to the future than the past. You felt your heart flutter with relief, and you smiled. "I see."
He reached up hesitantly to hold your face in his hands. He leaned closer to you, his shaky breath painting the air between you, "Tell me if I read this all wrong."
You shook your head as best you could with his hands cupping your face, "You didn't."
His eyes crinkled, and he smiled. "So you feel this too?"
"Obviously." You quipped right back, and he chuckled.
"I like you being jealous. It's kind of cute." He said as he thumbed your cheek affectionately.
"I wasn't jealous." You grumbled but was silenced by his lips touching yours, closing the gap between you. You felt a chill shoot from the back of your neck to the soles of your feet at the feeling of his mouth against yours. His lips parted, deepening the kiss. You responded eagerly just as his hand gripped the back of your neck, pulling you closer to him. Your arms circled his shoulders, and his arm snaked around your waist to pull you flush against his chest. You could feel your head spinning as the kiss grew more intense.
You nearly soared at the first brush of his tongue against your bottom lip and moaned against his mouth. Your entire body felt as if flames were licking your skin, all while feeling as if you could float away like a dandelion caught in the wind. His grip on your neck tightened as his tongue entered your mouth, and you had to think back to when the last time someone kissed you like this. Never. Never have you ever been kissed so artfully. You hummed against him just as he leaned back against the couch, pulling you into his lap. You adjusted your legs to frame his hips with your thighs. Your hands slid from his shoulders to his face, and you kissed him back with every ounce of want inside your body. He gripped your hips, pulling your center down against him, and you pulled back suddenly with a whimper, your wild eyes searching his.
Guilt flickered within his hazel gaze, "I shouldn't have—I'm sorry." He managed to rasp out, but you responded by covering his mouth with yours, your fingers moving to the buttons of his shirt.
You knew after this night your relationship would never be the same.

Rule Number 28
2021 Month of Writing: Day 29
Pairing: NCIS!Quanitco x reader
Prompt:
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1,524
Author's Note: please don't steal my work! you can choose to respond to the prompt as well, but don't steal my work
(NCIS Team consists of Gibbs, DiNozzo, McGee, and Ziva)
Tumblr media
“Yeah, Gibbs.”
“Rule 28.”
Gibbs sat up a little straighter and grabbed a sheet of paper and pen.
“Talk to me. What’s going on?”
“Blue sedan has been tailing me for the last few miles. Male driver, I can’t tell the age.”
“Where are you headed?”
“I was heading home, but I noticed him before I got too close. I’ve been trying to lose him since then.”
“Where have you been today?”
“We went to the zoo. Jensen wanted to see the lions. He’s asleep right now and I really don’t want to risk waking him.”
“McGee,” Gibbs whispered as she spoke to him. The agent stood quickly. Gibbs handed him a piece of paper, causing him to return to his desk and start typing.
“Gibbs, I think it’s his dad.”
“Ziva.” He handed her a piece of paper as well. “Okay, listen very carefully. Here’s what I want you to do.”
He rattled off a set of directions, glancing at his team to make sure they also knew to listen closely.
“We’ll be there shortly,” he said. “Be careful.”
“Will do. See you soon.”
Gibbs quickly hung up and grabbed his things.
“McGee, what have you got!” he called out.
“Boss,” McGee said, “that number you gave me, the caller is heading down Route 1.”
“Exact location?”
“Southbridge, heading south.”
“Let’s go!”
The team quickly grabbed their belongings and hurried to the car. McGee climbed into the front seat with Gibbs while Tony and Ziva got into a separate car. They quickly pulled out of the parking lot and drove down the road. Gibbs’ phone rang, which he quickly answered and put on speaker.
“What, DiNozzo?”
“Mind telling us what’s going on, boss?”
“Two weeks ago, we had a case involving a navy officer with a young son.”
“Sarah Booth,” Tony said. “She was in the Navy band. Retired to stay at home with her son.”
“Right. Her son Jensen has been staying with Y/N since his father was in prison. At least until a more permanent solution came up.”
“Actually, boss,” Ziva said, “Ethan Booth was released on bail just after we closed the case. He was in for breaking and entering and assault on his ex-wife.”
“Jensen’s mother,” McGee said. “The call in the office was from Y/N.”
“She’s being tailed by a blue sedan. She thinks Ethan Booth is the driver.”
“He’s trying to get his son back,” DiNozzo said.
Gibbs pressed harder on the gas, causing McGee to grab hold of the door.
Tumblr media
Y/N parked her car, quickly texting Gibbs the location. It was semi remote, away from people but still crowded enough that whoever was following should have a hard time finding her. She sighed, slightly anxious about what was about to come. She took a deep breath and turned around to check on Jensen. The ten year old was still sleeping. She tried to think about how she could help get him out of here.
Suddenly, there was a sharp knocking on her window. She turned around, instantly recognizing Ethan Booth. He offered her a smile, which she cautiously returned. He motioned for her to roll down the window, which she did, but not fully. She also double checked that her doors were locked.
“Can I help you?” she asked.
“Hi, yeah, I can’t seem to find my kid,” he said. “You haven’t seen him anywhere, have you?”
“I’m not sure. What does he look like?”
“Blond hair, about this high.”
“I’m afraid I haven’t seen him, sir.”
“Don’t lie to me!” He slammed his hands down on her car. “I know you have him!”
“Y/N?”
She quickly glanced behind her, noticing that Jensen was starting to wake.
“Hey, sweetie,” she said quietly. “Listen carefully. You’re going to be okay, but I need you to stay very quiet.” She secretly passed him her phone. “If it rings, answer it. Help is on the way.”
“Who are you talking to?” Ethan Booth asked. He leaned to take a look in the back seat. “Is that my son? Jensen?”
“Sir, you need to calm down so we can talk about this.”
“No! You have my kid! I’ve been tailing you for a week, I know you have him. Jensen! Jensen, get out of the car!”
“Sir, there is no need to yell. Just take a deep breath.”
“Get out of the car! Now!”
He lifted his arm, revealing the gun in his hand. Y/N raised her hands.
“There’s no need for that. Just put the gun down so we can talk.”
“Out of the car!”
Y/N glanced back at Jensen.
“Stay here,” she said. “Do not get out for any reason, understand?” He nodded. “Good. It’s going to be okay.”
“Out!”
“Okay! Okay, no need to shout.”
As she unbuckled, she heard her phone go off and heard Jensen quickly answer it. She opened her door and slowly got out of the car, shutting the door behind her. Ethan shoved her against the car, pointing the gun at her. He went to open the back seat door, only to find it locked. He tried the driver’s door, but it too was locked.
“Unlock it!” he shouted.
“No.”
“Unlock the door!”
“Not with you waving that gun around,” she responded. “Someone could get hurt. Including the kid.”
“Shut up!” He leaned down to look through the window. “Jensen, it’s dad. It’s dad, okay? Listen, I need you to open the door.”
“He’s not going anywhere with you.”
“I said shut up! Jensen, unlock the car and get out here!”
“He’s not leaving.”
“He’s my son! You have no right to keep my son from me!”
“Legally, I do. You and your wife divorced and she got full custody. Meanwhile you got drunk and eventually went to jail.”
“Shut up.”
“She was killed two weeks ago and now, only a few days later, you get released from jail and begin to stalk your son. How do you think that looks, Mr Booth.”
“I said shut up!” He pointed the gun at her chest. “I just want my kid and you’ll never hear from us again.”
“I’m afraid we can’t let you do that.”
Y/N sighed when she saw Gibbs approaching, gun raised. Out of the corner of her eye, she could also see Tony, Ziva, and McGee. Tony was approaching the car, kneeling down to look at Jensen through the window.
“The hell you will,” Ethan said. He couldn’t decide who to point his gun at. “I am walking out of here, and I am taking my son with me.”
“Then we’d just find you and arrest you for kidnapping. Perhaps even murder.”
“What?”
“You were working with Denis Walker weren’t you? So while he got arrested for actually killing your ex-wife, you were the mastermind behind it. Walker told us everything. You wanted her dead so you could get your son. You also killed Jensen’s biological father after getting out of jail. We just found his body yesterday.”
“It’s her own fault! She cheated on me with another man, who was never around. I took care of him! She was gone too often to know him. I know him! He’s my son!”
“You killed his mother.”
“He’s my son!”
He suddenly heard a car door open behind him. Tony had gotten Jensen to unlock the car so he could get him away. Unfortunately, they weren’t fast enough.
“You won’t take him from me again!”
Tony forced Jensen down as Y/N jumped forward to try and wrestle the gun from Ethan’s hands. A shot went off, followed closely by three others. Ethan slumped to the ground. McGee hurried forward to check on him.
“Y/N!”
She leaned back against the car, breathing heavily. Gibbs came to her while Ziva called for medical assistance.
“Hey, talk to me. You okay?” Gibbs asked.
“Is Jensen okay?”
“Not what I asked.”
“Gibbs, I’m fine.”
“The blood on your shoulder tells me otherwise.”
She glanced at her shoulder.
“Must have nicked me. I’m fine though really.”
“I want you checked out when EMT arrives.”
She nodded.
“Can I see the kid now?”
Gibbs nodded, leading her over to where Tony was sitting with Jensen. When the boy saw her, his face lit up.
“Y/N!” He ran to her and quickly wrapped his arms around her waist. “You’re okay!”
“Of course I am,” she said. “I promised you, didn’t I?”
“What’s going to happen to my dad?”
“We’re going to be getting him medical attention. But he won’t be bothering you for a long time, Jensen.” She knelt in front of him. “Listen, you did really good today. I’m proud of you.”
“I didn’t do much,” Jensen said.
“You did the most important part,” Gibbs said. “You stayed safe. You listened to Y/N’s instructions and you were able to give us directions to where you were.”
“We’ll figure out what to do from here, okay Jensen? It might be hard, but you’re a tough kid.”
“We’ll all be there for you,” Y/N said, glancing up at Gibbs who nodded. “For as long as you need.”

Gibbs x reader - You are you
Tumblr media
Heyo Beautiful 💕 Could you please do a Gibbs x reader where reader is his child and comes out as ftm? I have bad dysphoria and nobody to talk about it so I could use some comfort 😅💖 - Anon❤️
Hey! I hope this is okay, I don’t have experience here so I’m sorry if anything is wrong ❤️ but remember that you are always beautiful no mater what and I support you ❤️❤️
(P/N) = Preffered name!
Scribbling out the line you just wrote you sighed heavily. How were you going to do this? How was he going to react?
“Why is this so hard...” you mumbled.
Slamming your head onto the table you groaned, chewing the end of your pen.
“Ahhhh!!!” You yelled jumping up.
Scrunching up the paper you threw it in the bin. Running a hand through your short hair, that’s the first thing he’d notice. The second being your new clothes.
Heading into the living room you dropped onto the couch, closing your eyes as you waited, accidentally falling asleep.
“(Y/N)?”
Bolting up you smiled slightly.
“Hey dad.”
Gibbs smiled, lifting your feet as he sat on the end of the couch. He pointed to your hair.
“New haircut?”
“Uhm... yeah... just trying something new...” you smiled sheepishly.
Gibbs didn’t look very convinced. With a heavy sigh, you sat up. Rubbing your hands between your legs as you focused on breathing.
“We need to talk...” you muttered.
“Okay?”
Turning to face him, you averted your eyes. Gibbs got more worried by the second, thinking you had done something wrong.
“Promise you won’t be mad at me?”
“Sweetheart I could never be mad at you.”
You winced at the pet name. You knew it was meant to be comforting but it just made everything so much harder.
“I... Uhm... well... I’m transgender...”
You quickly glanced up to see Gibbs’ slightly confused face.
“You don’t know what it means do you?”
He shook his head, waiting for you to continue.
“Well... Uhm... it’s basically where I don’t feel comfortable in my body? Like I was born as the wrong gender I guess... I may have been born a girl but I identify as a boy?”
You waited for harsh words to follow. For him to say that it was just phase or that he didn’t except it. Instead he just pulled you into his side.
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Yeah.”
“So... you don’t hate me?” You asked quietly.
“Why would I hate you for being you?”
Tears flooded your eyes, you begun to cry as you cling onto him. You thought he was going to say that it wasn’t acceptable but you also knew he wasn’t like that.
“I love you dad.”
“I love you too kiddo.”
Pulling away, you wiped your tears. Gibbs ruffled your hair with a small chuckle. Pulling at your shirt a little he pulled on of his very few zip up hoodies down from the back of he couch for you to wear.
“Guess we should get you some new clothes tomorrow huh?” He grinned.
“Please. Oh and dad? Can you call me (P/N)?
“Of course I can bud, now let’s go. I heard a new burger place opened up.”
“Nice!”
Fist pumping the air, you ran out the door. Missing the soft smile Gibbs sent your way. He turned out the light, looking at the picture of you from when you were a child.
“I’ll always support you.” He whispered as he closed the door

Prologue - Chapter 1
Tags: @duckysmith3000 @sitkafay @thebaileybugle @katieslotherford @ilovemark1951
You always put your foot in your mouth. That was your thing, you knew it but somehow you couldn’t help it. You felt terrible during lunch, and planned on apologizing to Hotch as soon as you were done. Emily talked with McGee about the case and then about you. You listened without really listening.
When you were almost done eating, Gibbs and Ziva came back with important information about the case and the victim. Emily left the room to let the team work - reluctantly, she really wanted to stay. They told you and McGee what they learned and you told them what you found and what Ducky found.
“Are you okay, Y/N?” Ziva asked, concerned.
“She put her foot in her mouth again.” Tim told her.
“Oh, with your sister?”
You shook your head no. “Her boss. I’m going to apologize actually.” You stood up, feeling Gibbs’s gaze on you. “I know about Rule 6, but this is different.” You said.
“Did I say anything?” He shot back.
“No, but—no you didn’t. I’ll be right back.”
You left the conference room and walked up to your sister’s desk. “Is Hotch still here?” You asked her, looking over her shoulder.
“Yup. Good luck.”
“Thanks.”
You went to his office and knocked. You were that his “come in” wasn't a happy one, like he was annoyed to be disturbed. “You sure I can?” You asked, just popping your head through the door.
“Yes, Y/N.” So you did and stood across his desk.
“I want to apologize for what I said. It was insensitive, and a poor choice of words.”
Hotch looked at you and noticed the very formal posture you had; you were standing straight, chin high, your hand on your back. It clearly was something you picked up for your time as a Marine, but it felt wrong for Hotch. “Am I supposed to dismiss you so you’d stand normally?” He raised an eyebrow at you. You understood what he meant and relaxed, putting your arms on your sides.
“Yeah, that was very formal, wasn’t it?”
“Old habits die hard, I guess.”
“Exactly.” You sighed. “Are we good? I really don’t want to start on the wrong foot. Emily cares a lot about you and the team and—“
“We’re fine, Y/N.” He cut you off and you sighed in relief.
“Thank you! Thanks! I really didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“I know.” He straight up on his chair, “I guess it hurt because you were right.”
You watched him stare at his wedding ring. You could tell how hard it was from him to accept that his marriage was over. Not that you’d understand, and know how he felt, but you felt for him. Emily told you about his divorce, but only the big lines. From what you understood, his wife - and mother of his son - had enough of his job, and how much it took him away from them.
You started to walk backwards to leave him alone but you saw him taking the ring off. His gesture surprised you but you didn’t say anything. “Can you keep it?” He asked, opening his hand where the ring was over you. You were even more surprised by his request, and took a few steps forward.
“What?”
“Can you keep this ring until you’re going back to DC?” He asked again, sure of himself.
“I don’t—“ you didn’t know what to say. “Are you asking me to be your Frodo?” Despite making a pop culture reference, you were pretty serious and concerned about his request, but Hotch chuckled.
“I guess I am.”
“Why?” You softly reached for the ring that was still in his palm. Your fingers brushed his skin, and you closed your eyes for a moment, trying not to think about whatever you felt in your body.
“Well, since we were having this conversation, I guess I can ask you to keep it and make sure you won’t give it back to me no matter what.” He sighed. “Maybe it’ll help.”
“I don’t think it’s just about the ring, Hotch.” You admitted.
“Surely not. But it’s a start.”
“Okay then.” You put the ring in your pocket, feeling Hotch’s gaze on you. “I won’t give it back to you even if you beg.” You silently cursed yourself for using those words.
“I don’t beg.” He chuckled.
“Let’s make that your next obstacle.” Could you never shut up? This was your sister’s boss and you were talking to him like he was someone you’ve known for months and were familiar with. Blushing at your behavior, you started to walk towards the door again.
“I'd like to have other obstacles before that one.” He said.
“Like what?” You couldn’t help but ask, as your hand reached for the door handle.
“Considering dating again, for example.”
“Well, once you’ll be back on the horse, it won't be hard for you.”
With that, you left. You’ve said enough to Aaron Hotchner for now.
As soon as the door closed, Hotch covered his face with his hands. Why the hell did he do something like this? For the moment he left the conference room after what you said, he tried to take his ring off but he couldn’t. It clearly wasn’t about the ring, it was about accepting that his marriage with Haley was over after many years and a baby. He never wanted his son to be a child of divorce but here they were now. Haley made her decision a while ago, the divorce had been pronounced and there was nothing left to do.
And he understood that when you were standing in front of him. Because for the first time in a very long time, he pictured himself being with someone. Someone other than his ex-wife. And he hated to admit that you, Emily Prentiss’s young sister, did that for him. It would never be something he’d pursue, but a man could still let his imagination run free, right?
Especially after that last sentence…
As you were going to your team, Emily stopped you. “I’m gonna go home and take a nap.” She informed you.
“You know that you didn’t have to come in the first place?” You laughed.
“True, but it was fun. Things are good between you and Hotch?”
“Yes, everything’s clear.”
“Great. Now, I may have told the team that you were here—“
“Okay, so?”
“They want to get some drinks tonight, with you.”
“In case it’s not very clear, I’m working here, Em. I can’t—“
“Oh come on! You’re not going to pull an all-nighter, right?”
“I don’t know yet. It’s barely 2pm. Let’s do that when the case is over?”
“Fine. Most of them will be here tomorrow anyway. See ya.”
She kissed your cheek and left the office to take her much needed nap.
You joined back your team, and the entire afternoon was about the case. The more you investigated, the more complicated it was becoming. You had no idea where it was going, but around nine pm, Gibbs told you to call it a night.
You all walked out of the FBI office together. Before reaching the elevator, you felt Tony’s arm wrapping itself around your shoulders. “Baby Prentiss.”
You rolled your eyes, “What, Junior?”
“First, don’t call me that in front of your sister, please. And second, can I have your sister’s number?”
“Over my dead body.” You firmly answered.
“Aw, come on!”
“You are relentless.” Ziva stated.
“Leave her alone, DiNozzo.” Gibbs gave Tony his second headslap of the day. He let go of your shoulders but stayed close to you.
“Y/N, your sister’s hot. I’m hot. We’d—“ he stopped talking when you punched his shoulder. “Ow!” He rubbed the spot you just hit.
“Be grateful I went for your shoulder.”
The elevator’s doors opened and you all got in. “Fine, I’ll just directly ask her.”
You wanted to punch him again, but Gibbs wrapped his arm around you, holding you in place; your back against his chest. You were small compared to him - which was something he liked a lot - but you’ve proven multiple times that you could kick his ass, and definitely Tony’s. Your small size was actually an advantage, because it made you fast and sneaky.
“I can’t wait for her to turn you down.” You smirked, knowing that a man like Tony was Emily’s type.
Gibbs held you against him until the lift was over and it surprised you that no one seemed to care or even paid attention.
Since Emily was the one to drive in the morning, Gibbs offered to drop you off at her place, while the others used the van to go back to the hotel. During the ride, he noticed how silent you were, deep in thoughts, so he gently put his hand on your thigh and rubbed small circles with his thumb. “Everything okay there?” He asked.
“Yeah, yeah. Just thinking.”
“I can see that, and I know it’s not about the case.”
You growled at that, “Stop reading me like an open book.”
And he chuckled, “That’s the thing about you, Y/N. You wear your feelings and emotions on your sleeves.”
“Trust me I know, I was reprimanded way too much on that by my commanders. Do you think it makes me—weak?”
“Not the word I’d choose.”
“And what word would you choose?”
Gibbs silently kept driving for a moment, thinking. “Pure.” He said, “Too pure.”
“Wow,” you laughed. “That’s what you’re going with?”
“It is.”
You took a long look at him and understood that he didn’t like you laughing at the word he chose. You could see his jaw clenched, so you reached for his hair and stroked it a little. You knew it soothed him.
“Why do you think you’re weak?” He finally asked.
“It’s not just weakness, it’s—“ you inhaled deeply, “All my life my parents compared me to Em. I wasn’t wanted, I was born twelve years after the only kid they wanted and they spent all those years making me feel inferior to my sister, in every way possible.” Gibbs held your hand in his and squeezed it gently. He took his eyes off the road for a moment to look at you and he saw the tears in your eyes. It hurt him to see you hurt. “Don’t get me wrong, I love Emily more than anyone in this world. It’s not her fault the parents were like this with me. I mean, she doesn’t know half of it.”
“Maybe you should tell her, then?”
“No way, it would make her feel so bad.”
“But right now, you’re the one feeling bad.”
“It’s okay.”
“No,” he kissed your knuckles, “it’s not.”
You told Gibbs what was wrong but you didn’t want to go any further than that. So you just closed your eyes and enjoyed his tenderness until you reached for your sister’s building. “That’s her parking lot?” Gibbs asked, pointing at a garage door.
“Yup,”
“Do you have the key?”
“Yes,” you said, showing the key that you already were holding. “Why?”
“Open it.”
You looked at him, puzzled but he just smirked. You opened the door and he drove inside. He spent a moment driving around the parking lot, until he found the most hidden spot.
Gibbs turned off the engine, grabbed your stuff and threw them in the back and proceeded to bring you on his lap. “Are you serious?” You chuckled, and he answered with a kiss. As he found your sensitive spot in your neck, his hands roomed under your shirt, where he touched every inch of skin. You found the button to lay the seat back, taking Gibbs by surprise. You immediately crashed against his chest and kissed him passionately.
You felt the bulge in his pants as he worked on unbuttoning yours. He grabbed handfuls on your flesh, and you moaned in his mouth. “Take those off.” He told you and you got back on your seat to take your shoes and pants off. He freed his cock from his briefs and stroked himself as he stared at you. You playfully threw your soaked panties to his face, and he grabbed them before inhaling deeply into it.
You climbed on top of him again, his hard cock teasing your entrance. It was quite dark but you still could make each other’s faces out and you stared at each other as you welcomed his length inside your cunt. He rubbed your clit with his thumb a little before you even moved, and then he brought you against his chest and started to thrust. It was slow and deep at first, neither of you spoke. You just kissed, touched and held each other, until he eventually fastened the pace and you met his movements.
“Yes, Gibbs! Fuck!” You cried in his ear, feeling your orgasm building itself.
“You’re so good, sweetheart. So good,” he whispered.
Gibbs was hard to read, even during sex, but you’ve learned in the past year that he’s close to come when his hands grab your skin in a death grip - that sometimes leaves bruises. So you reassured him, “I’m so close. Yes, right there!”
He kept his brutal pace until he felt your pussy and body clenching onto you, and it was his undoing. He came deep inside you and that feeling almost made you come a second time.
You stayed on top of him for a moment as you were both catching your breaths. No matter how tough the man appeared to everyone, he was also the most thoughtful and tender man you’ve ever been with. He rubbed your back and placed small kisses on your forehead until you kissed him and got back to your seat.
It was only then that it hit you; you hadn’t used protection for the first time. You could feel his cum coming out of your pussy, probably dripping on his cushion.
“It’s kinda late to ask this but I hope you’re not seeing anyone else, Gibbs.” You told him as you put your clothes back on.
“And I hope you’re on birth control, otherwise we’re going to CVS right now.” He answered right away, fixing himself up.
“I’m on birth control.” You reassured him. “You’re not asking if I’m seeing someone else?”
He didn’t say a word. Gibbs just looked at him and smirked, like he knew you were not seeing anyone else. Granted, he was right but his assumption pissed you off. Like, did he assume that no one else would be interested in you? Or that you were so into him that you didn’t want to be with someone else? Either option upsetted you.
You finished putting your clothes back on, threw a cold “see you tomorrow” and left.

Gibbs Has A Wife?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs X Fem OC/Reader
Word Count: 971
Warnings: Mild language, fluff, pregnancy…
Prompt: Gibbs has been knee deep in a case all week and hasn’t been home to you or your son, so you head to NCIS to talk to him yourself…
Tumblr media
Y/N's POV
Angry wasn't even a way to begin how I felt. Livid, we are getting closer. Royally pissed off, that is how I'm feeling.
I swaddle the baby, a hand on my growing bump as I storm off the elevator. I saw his silver hair from where I was coming and his team looked at me confused. I stand at the front of the bullpen when he looks up.
"Leroy Jethro Gibbs, I'm this close to being your fifth ex-wife." I grit out.
"Gibbs has a wife?" Tony asks.
I knew who they all were. Gibbs was fond of each one yet, he wanted to wait awhile before introducing me. He had a blast on teasing them. Jethro stands slowly,  paling once he realized how screwed he was.
"I'm nine months pregnant, we have an eleven month old and I have a job. Yet, I've taken care of every dirty diaper this week, every time he’s got fussy, I got him calmed. I've fed him, I've cleaned the house and made dinner every single night. Yet, you can't show up to have a meal with your goddamn wife? The mother of you two babies. One I spent over twenty hours in labor with and I'm dreading this next one." I snap.
"Y/N/N, honey...calm down. I'm sorry. I've been caught up in a case. I should've called." He says softly and I narrow my eyes.
"If you knew how much I wanted to put my foot up your ass, you'd stay the hell away from me." I snap.
"I know your mad and I'm sorry." He says softly, resting his hands on my hips.
I glare at him, reaching a hand up and slapping him in the back of the head. He smiles nonetheless, rubbing my belly as he stops our little girl from kicking.
"I'm more than mad, Jethro." I snap.
"I know, and I'm sorry. I'll make it up. Ziva, come here. Meet your god-son, Leroy Jackson Gibbs. Let Tony and Tim meet him too, but keep an eye on those two. Mostly Tony." Jethro says, taking our son away from my arms.
He places a kiss on his head, smiling softly down at him before handing him to Ziva who smiles and softly coos at him. Tony and Tim stand, going to stand around Ziva as they smile down at Leroy.
Jethro grabs my hand and guides me towards the elevator. He presses the emergency stop button and we were left in the dark. He cups my cheek, but that doesn't stop me from glaring up at him.
"I love you and I'm sorry, honey. It won't happen again." He murmurs.
"I know it won't because if it does, I'm leaving your ass." I snap and he chuckles.
"I love you." He murmurs, caressing my cheek as he leans down.
I huff, looping my arms around his neck. He knew what buttons to push and when to push them. That made me mad, and this time I blamed that on my hormones.
"I love you too, bastard." I grumble.
He chuckles, slanting his lips over mine. It was soft and slow, the two of us wrapped in each others embrace. God. I've missed him. We pull away and I slap him in the back of the head once more.
"What was that for?" He grumbles.
"Your daughter is kicking my ribcage and bladder." I grumble.
"Turn around." He murmurs.
I do as told, his chest against my back. His hands rub my belly before he lifts my stomach. I moan softly, my legs nearly giving out from how good this felt. I lean back against him, closing my eyes. He kisses the side of my head.
I could stay like that forever. We stayed like that for several minutes before he slowly let my belly down. I turn around, pulling him into a hug.
"I missed you." I murmur.
"I missed you too, honey. I'm sorry. I promise I'll do better or at least call.” He says.
We pull apart, but he grabs my hand and we head back to the bullpen to see Tony holding Leroy.
“I’m your Uncle Tony. I will teach you all the best movies to watch. There are some really good old ones that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. Ziva here will tell you all the good books and McGeek…he’ll probably teach you to game.” He rambles.
I smile, looking up at Jethro who looks down at me with a soft smile. I look back at them, putting my other hand on my stomach. Jethro moves behind me, lifting my stomach again as he rests his head on top of mine.
“Mrs. Gibbs, he’s got your hair…but he has Gibbs’ eyes.” Ziva says.
“I know. He’s going to be breaking all kinds of hearts with those eyes. And please, call me Y/N.” I say.
“Be glad he only got bosses eyes, it’s a good thing he got your looks.” Tony teases and I giggle.
“Stop flirting with my wife, DiNozzo.” Gibbs warns.
“He wasn’t. Calm down, Jethro.” I say.
“You’ve got another one in the oven it seems. Do you know the gender and name yet?” Tim asks.
“Oh yes. It’s a girl this time. We are going to name her Caitlyn Shannon Gibbs.” I murmur.
“A-After Kate…” Tony trails off.
“Yes. In honor of Kate…she was a good woman. And Jethro’s first wife, Shannon.” I murmur.
“Little one has woken up again it seems.” Jethro says as our little girl kicks away.
I grimace, rubbing my stomach as Jethro continues to hold it up. I suck in a breath, slowly exhaling.
“Y/N, are you alright?” Ziva asks.
“This one is definitely going to kick asses, that’s for sure.” I chuckle breathlessly.

empty promises - Leroy Jethro Gibbs

As you slammed the car door shut, you struggled with the groceries in your arms. You've gone out shopping for the evening, leaving Jethro to look after your four-year-old son. While balancing full bags of food, you fought with the door to get the handle down. You took a step inside as the door swung open. You weren't expecting the distress to come up behind you while you were humming contentedly.
You entered the kitchen, eager to place the shopping bags on the table and relieve your arms of the burden. Instead, the table strews with paperwork, much to your surprise. Some stood in attempted neat stacks, while the rest appeared to be displayed in completely random messes, reaching as far as the chairs and the floor. You frowned and shifted the bags to the tiles, leaning against the kitchen counters instead.
"Jeth, hon? Charles?" Your mind made a commotion instantly. You couldn't help but feel your blood pressure rise as a mother when you realized something was wrong. Why was the kitchen in such disarray, and where had your husband and son gone?
The hairs on your skin began to stand up. You stepped out of the kitchen rushed to where Gibbs buried the gun, calling for him once more. You jogged downstairs to the basement, where you noticed him sitting on the chair, shadowy. He was leaning forward, eyes closed, elbows on his thighs, and he appeared to be massaging his temples.
"Where's–" It all began with you. "I got Charles into bed," Jethro said, his eyes flickering beneath his lids, taking his a bourbon sip. You breathed a sigh of relief and placed the gun down on his boat counter. "What happened in the kitchen?" You mused as you reached for your lips with your finger.
"Just... Old cases-related stuff. I'll do it later," Jethro was barely moving, only his lips moving to say words that lacked depth.
"Hey, everything alright?" You were concerned. The Marine mumbled, pulling his hands away from his head and pressing his palms together, letting them rest against his lips. He appeared to be in prayer. "So? Not good?" You considered it yourself. Jethro sighed and moved his gaze to you. "It means nothing to you, Y/N. Go clean the kitchen or do something more useful."
You drew your hands up to your waist. "What's wrong with you, Jeth? I'm just asking." He leaned back in his chair and looked at you before dropping his arms and standing up. As the tension in the room seemed to thicken significantly, your eyes bore into each other.
"Seriously?" Gibbs joined the fight. "I said go find something else to do besides hassle your husband!"
Your brow furrowed. You were only used to your husband using you as a stress reliever – albeit only in ways that made both of you feel better – but today, it was unnecessary anymore.
"Harassing a bad husband and an even worse father? What I'm trying to do is keep you from turning into the madness Marine Agent who drinks his way through life!" You swerve away exited the basement.
You were worried about the reaction you elicited and threw it at your husband. It felt like poking a fire and watching the flames burst everywhere in the air. You padded up the stairs to your son's room before quietly entering and settling into his bed. You watch him breathe calmly, his chest rising and falling steadily.
You realized his expression. Your son, Charles, had undeniably inherited Jethro's soft and sweet features. His eyes were innocent, his cheeks rounded, and his beautiful plush lips slightly parted. He was boisterous, often self-assured, and always managed to make you laugh. He looked like a miniature version of his father. But this side of Jethro is rarely seen these days. It's something you've only ever seen in your son.
Feelings of protection seemed to bolt and shudder through your whole body as you gently stroked his hair. It wasn't that you thought Jethro was a danger to your son; it was just that the argument had made you nervous.
Charles's calm breaths were your only source of energy. You had no idea how much time had passed; all you knew was that it was getting close to evening, and Charles needed the dinner. As you leaned against the wall, your hand snaked under the covers and caressed your son's wrist. You opened your eyes as the door clicked open to meet a pair of apologetic dark irises.
Gibbs only slightly opened the door to avoid letting in too much light. The yellowish light escaping through the crack highlighted the angelic shadow behind him. Or maybe it was devilish. His expression suggested otherwise, as he shyly allowed his lips to turn up at the corners just a tad. He extended his hand to you. As you dragged yourself out of bed, you noticed his smile widening and the crinkles around his eyes that you adored.
The Marine drew you out of Charle's room and into your shared bedroom. He sat on the end of the bed without letting your hand go. His legs opened for you, and you took your place in front of him. He pressed his thighs against you and reached for your waist with his hands. "I'm so sorry," he panted. You kept silent. "I know I'm a shit bowl, a sorry excuse for a husband and a fa-"
"No. No, you not. Jethro, you're a great hubby and daddy. Our son is proud of you." His face was in your hand, and he looked up at you. "What I said earlier was nonsense, and I'm sorry for all of that," you exclaimed, practically disintegrating in his arms. He appeared surprised for a brief minute. "At work, you're having a terrible time. We all do, and it'll be fine soon, right?" Your fingers entwine themselves in the threads of his silver hair.
"In this case, things aren't going so well. There's just so much crap to get through to my whole team framed up."
"What can I help?" You offered as you stroked his neck. "Babe, you have your work to do." Jethro denied, considerate. "It's fine, Jeth. You only need to reach out to me." You couldn't stop yourself from mirroring his smile.
As though he wanted you to get closer, Jethro yanked your shirt lower. You fell onto his lap and wrapped the nape of his neck with your arms. He could smell your enticing perfume and clung to you, pulling you closer with his lips brushing against yours.
Your lips pressed frantically against his, obliviously. You want to crave his attention for a long. In his hands on your hips, you turned into putty. Then he drew back, contentedly sighing. It had all come to a close way too rapidly.
"All right, let's get started on the dinner!" You stepped up and resumed your previous posture, standing between his legs. As he peered up passionately into your eyes, his hand latched onto your wrist. A lovely smile tugged at his lips as his chin dipped slightly towards you.
"I promise I'll change. I swear to God, baby." With the comfort grin and a slight raise in your shoulders, you concealed your fear.
Because, once again, you have succumbed to his empty promises.

Tumblr media
Blankets surrounded your body, your leg ontop of another while light snores left your mouth. Hair was messed up and a hand was slowly moving to stroke your cheek. The curtains allowed peaks of the sunlight to peak through in your bedroom. A man lying beside you in his sweatpants and old tee.
The grey haired, older, man kept his eyes on your peacefully sleeping face, truly enjoying whatever dream you were imagining. He made no move to remove your leg from the top of his, but did make a move to place his fingers above your face, lightly pushing some stray baby hairs away.
A part of him silently cursed to himself, wishing that he had learned how to work his phone better, then being able to snap a photo of this calming moment for his own purposes.
Gibbs wouldn’t admit it to you, but these moments were more important to him than working on a boat, or the thrill after finally catching a bastard. There was something so domestic, so calming, with these times spent together. Time for him to think to himself, and also have the one he loves so much be so close.
Time to think about the past, and wonder how he got lucky enough for it to land here. Though, he may have lost a lot, and they would never be forgotten, he was grateful for another opportunity at pure happiness.
But his time to enjoy the peacefulness soon ended with a ring of a cellphone, causing you to stir a bit in your sleep. You eventually opened your eyes, staring up at the man who now had the hand that was formally on your face, resting on your chest.
“What’s that?” You questioned, trying to sit up and rub your eyes. “Can you get it?”
“It’s your cellphone,” He answered, missing the warmth of your leg, now having it be moved to lay on the mattress itself.
“Mmk,” You mumbled, reaching over to your side table and grabbing it. Flipping the screen up, you moved it to your ear. “L/n,” You tried to make your morning voice sound more as your own.
“If it isn’t little Y/n!” A cheerful voice spoke loudly on the other line. “Ya miss me?”
“No. What do you need?” You rolled your eyes, getting off of the bed, Gibbs eyes traveling your body as you walked to your dresser, picking out a outfit. “Mhm, okay,” You nodded to yourself. “I’ll be there, text me the address. Oh. Never mind then. Bye.”
Gibbs got out of the bed, going to stand beside you. He silently observed as you rolled your eyes once again, opening another drawer, he snaked his arms around your waist and pulled you into his chest, a small kiss on the inside of your neck.
“Who’s that?”
“A old coworker.” You opened your underwear drawer, picking a pair for the day.
“Purple,” Gibbs commented, as you dropped the blue pair back into the others, reaching for the one he chose.
“Gosh, it’s like we really are married,” You laughed to yourself, looking back at his straight face. “Sorry, you would know too much about that. But that’s not my point, there is a dead marine there and that means we’ve got work.”
“You didn’t seem to happy to hear from him,” Gibbs unwrapped his arms as you moved to your closet, picking out a dress shirt.
“I wasn’t. He’s annoying and almost cost me my job at the time. But, it’s our job, we have to go, so grab your clothes in the bottom drawers,” You turned around and pointed at the dresser that held some of his items, now finding what you needed and beginning to change.
———————-
“If you are all interested to know… I spent the morning watching a old TV show airing about a classic comedic couple who travels the world with their adopted son,” Tony announced to no one in particular, sitting at his desk as the others sat at theirs.
Ziva had her arms crossed, leaning back in her chair a bit. McGee sat in his, rubbing his eyes and looking down at his phone.
“What did you do this morning, McGee?” Ziva looked over to McGee, watching as his eyebrows furrowed.
“Trying to work on my new writing.. but for my character, uh, Miranda, I need a good backstory for her, people are really grasping onto her character from the former story. I’ve read some things saying they think she’ll get with Gibbs, I mean Libbs!”
“Interesting,” Ziva tsked. “I read the story and your Miranda character, who is obviously Y/n, and I don’t see it.”
“You know nothing about romance, Ziva,” Tony waltzed over, his own coffee in hand and his face near hers. “I think no one expects you to think about who would get together. But, no, I don’t see Gibbs getting with someone like L/n who is very, you know-”
“I’m what, DiNozzo?” You walked in, moving straight to your desk as you placed your bag down.
“Amazing! I meant, you’re so great that someone like Gib-” Tony looked at Ziva’s eyes widen. “He’s right behind me, isn’t he?”
“Someone like me, now what’s that, DiNozzo?” Gibbs questioned.
“Uh-” Gibbs smacked the back of DiNozzos head, moving over to his own desk.
“Dead sailor, body is already getting examined by Ducky and some visitors are coming to drop off some of the evidence.” Gibbs informed everyone.
“They think this sailor had something to do with a past robbery and murder, a cold case,” You clarified.
“L/n!” A guy smiled widely, another girl following in pursuit behind him as he walked to you with his arms wide open. “It’s been too long,” He quickly hugged you, tightening his grip around your shoulders and moving his hands to cup your face. “You still look as beautiful as ever!”
“Y/n, is that your boyfriend?” Ziva inquired.
“He looks a little out of her leagu-” You shot DiNozzo a look. “Or not?”
“Ah no,” The man laughed. “Old coworkers, that is Lila and I’m Carson, nice to meet you guys.”
“If your old coworkers, you must have a ton of embarrassing stories about Y/n!” DiNozzo beamed, moving closer to Carson.
“Uh, a few,” He responded. “We only worked together for a year or two, some, but not a ton.”
“Some will do.”
“DiNozzo, we aren’t here to make friends we are here to solve a murder,” Gibbs shot him a look and hit the back of his head.
“Right, sorry, boss.” DiNozzo put his head down like a sad puppy dog and made his way back to his desk. The two visitors looked at the scene that had just happened oddly.
“We brought all of our evidence, not much, but something,” Lila announced, placing the box on the table now and taking some of it out. “Should we get started?”
“I’ll show you to Abby, she is our forensic analysts and will probably want to take a look at this stuff for herself,” McGee told Lila, putting the evidence back in the box and letting her grab it, soon walking towards the elevator.
“You think I could check out the body?” Carson asked you. “It might be good to see what he looked like more and talk with your doctor.”
“That makes sense, I’ll show you to him,” You smiled at your old coworker and took another way to Ducky’s area.
The both of you chatted on the way down, catching up with how things differ since you worked there and a bit about your new workplace here.
“I really thought you would be Jeremy, the one who called me. I was a bit worried,” You laughed, walking into Autopsy with Carson as Ducky moved near you.
“Hello, dear, who’s this?” Ducky questioned, Jimmy moved near his boss.
“Hey, Ducky, this is Carson. Carson, this is Doctor Mallard. He is a old coworker of mine, Ducky,” You told the older man. “That’s Jimmy, he is Ducky’s assistant.”
Ducky began to explain how the man had died, pointing out various things on the body and even putting in a few past experiences of his own into the conversation.
Soon the four of you had heard the doors open, turning around to catch the view of your boyfriend entering into the room and moving to stand right in between you and Carson.
“I just want to hear some of the explanation myself, you can continue, Ducky,” Gibbs commented, all of your eyes turning back onto Ducky who was back to talking.
You felt a warm, larger hand travel to the middle of your back, a thumb softly pressing into the fabric that covered your skin. You turned your head slightly to make eye contact with Gibbs, but he just continued to stare forward ignoring it.
It was like a goosebump went up your spine, yet it wasn’t not encouraged. It was a bit of a energetic feeling, so you rejoiced in the innocent touch, a sign he was there.
Eventually, Ducky was done with his long explanation and you were back to heading upstairs with Carson and Gibbs to do more research regarding the deadman and cold case.
“So, Y/n, I was thinking we could go out to lunch or something soon to really catch up, outside of work,” Carson mentioned while you three were on the elevator ride up.
You were surprised at his somewhat boldness to announce this in front of your boss (and boyfriend), but he was always a very open person, kind and open.
“That doesn’t sound too bad,” You replied.
“We are busy most afternoons.” Gibbs added. “So, if you plan it at some ridiculous time don’t expect my agent to be able to make it.”
The doors soon chimed open and Carson quickly left, making a bee line straight to Lila. Gibbs let you leave first, placing another palm against your back to secretly lead you back to where the desks were, even though you knew where you were going.
———————
The rest of the day was spent with much more working diligently. You all had made some progress but not enough, and you could tell it was really getting to Gibbs. He dismissed everyone and told them to come back in the early hours in the morning.
Gibbs had told you that he was going to stay and work on this some more, so you told him you would stay as well and order some food. Once Carson had heard that, he decided that he would do the same.
A hour later, three burgers arrive and you hand them out to the two other men, soon taking a bite into yours. A bit of the condiment had spewed onto the corners of your mouth, but your hunger caught up with you, continuing to avoid the feeling for a moment and just eat.
Carson caught the look of your messiness, breaking off into a small laugh, and you joining, him then making a joke about how this used to be a regular for you. Gibbs got up from his seat with a napkin and bent over a bit to wipe it away from your mouth.
It was certainly a small gesture, but had caught you and Carson off guard, the both of you quieting. You just stared back at him while he continued to eat with a pride grin on his lips, looking over the papers.
It seemed like a blessing from the sky when Gibbs had finally connected the pieces. Everyone was called back in to look over what he found and to excite a plan on how to continue. You all were able to get the murderer into custody and with old evidence and Ducky’s help you were able to identify he was the killer. With Abby’s help you were able to put him at the scene where your old coworkers cold case took place.
It was a relieving feeling that the case was solved and over. It was easy to tell that your current coworkers were also happy with the fact that your old ones were leaving for good. Having unfamiliar people in a familiar place is always a weird feeling for everyone.
You watched as everyone packed up their things to head home from the tiring few days of work. Standing up, you grabbed your bag and moved to Gibbs desk, chatting with him until Carson came over.
“It was nice working with you again,” He commented, you turned around to face him.
“It was. We make a good team.”
“We really do. I was wondering about that, uh, date?”
“Hm,” That had slipped your mind, and almost did once more when you felt a brush of a hand against your bottom, turning around to make eyes at your boyfriend. “Sorry, I actually have a boyfriend. But if you mean the lunch date to catch up, then I’d love to.”
“The second one,” He nodded, his cheeks brightening a bit at the dejection but also confirmation.
“Great,” You grinned, writing down your phone number and handing it to him. “Talk soon, bye.”
“Goodbye.”
You watched as Carson entered the elevator and soon disappeared, the office area looking very empty with the lights darkened a bit and only you and Gibbs being in the area.
“Glad he’s gone,” Gibbs laughed.
“I figured,” You laughed alongside with him. “I could tell by your touchiness at work, are you trying to let everyone know?”
“If I was, I would do something bolder. Didn’t Ducky ever tell you I used to be like DiNozzo?”
“Yeah, that would be a interesting time to see.”
“I think if I was that same man, we might’ve had sex right o-”
“Let’s get home, now,” You both soon left the workplace, hand in hand, laughing along at stories of the younger Gibbs and his flirty persona.

You sigh, collapsing on the bed. Exhaustion seeps from your bones. Your eyes are barely staying open and your body aches from the events of the day.
The case had been rough, to say the least. One suspect after the other, each seemingly worse than the last. Each determined to pis you off as much as possible.
And to top it all off, he got to three more victims before you could save them. The one had been a teenager, only sixteen.
His mom had come and yelled at you, crying, blaming you for her son's death. You had told her you would bring him back. She told you how horrible of a person you were and how unworthy you were to live a life when he had lost his.
And you agreed. Who were you to live when he had to die? Your thoughts were racing as you curled into yourself.
The only thing grounding you was your husband. You needed him. Next to you, right now. You need him to hold you and kiss you and tell you it was okay.
You feel tears begin to slip down your face when a presence behind you makes you stiffen. His hands wrap around your waist, his body pressed perfectly to your own. Kisses are pressed to your hairline and you smile through the pain your heart is feeling.
"Its not your fault. You did everything you could. I'm so proud of you."his whispers soothingly in your ear.
You sniffle and turn slightly, looking him in the eye.
"Kiss me." You say. And he brings his lips to yours in a light kiss. Not too deep, but enough to hold you there with him.
He pulls away after a while and pulls you into his chest, cradling your head as you listen to the steady and rhythmic beating of his heart.
Gibbs heart clenched when he hears you sniffle and he makes sure you are really faceing him when he wraps his arms even tighter around you.
"S'alright. I got you. Not going anywhere.." he whispers soothingly into your ears and you know you'll be okay with someone like him. At your sjd.e
