My wife posted this on her Facebook page and it was really moving to me so I wanted to share it on my Instagram page: "Some days you just hang in there and pray for strength. You hold on tight and hope the storm passes quickly. Somedays this is what Combat related PTSD, anxiety and depression looks like in the home. It's hard. It's intensity affects us all. Like a ticking bomb that hasn't yet exploded. Like random unexpected fireworks suddenly going off here and there. No one's life is perfect. Every one has struggles. Everyone has ups and downs. We have good days we have bad days like every one else. We have I love you and I can't stand you days. When trauma rewires a brain to be hypervigilant and respond to simple things in fight or flight mode........along with life's regular problems that everyone has....just imagine how that impacts everyday life....In your prayers here and there remember us. 💛💛💛 PTSD is common in Veterans it's also very common in first responders. It's common where there has been a traumatic experience. It's closer to you than you may realize." My mental health is a constant struggle that I don't normally open up about with anyone but my wife. I go to counseling but out of habit I tend to downplay my struggles with my mental health and paint a picture of being perfectly fine. There are many days were even though I know GOD loves me, has a plan for me and is merciful that I feel intense guilt and shame for the bad choices that I made in the past, some that still impact my life today. My biggest struggle with my faith isn't whether GOD exists or the issues within the Church but is my struggle with my mental health and the constant internal battle of not feeling like the most unworthy and useless of all of GOD's creation. I have 9 beautiful children and a beautiful wife who loves me so normally I would take that as proof that GOD loves me and has a plan for me but the mental health tells me that I am not worthy of his grace and blessings.
