Part of my job is to do product designs and like... sometimes i get so frustrated bc i come up with stuff that i really like but maybe is too 'niche' or 'out there' for a 'general' audience. I mean seriously, this is why, if you go to a gift shop, that you see a lot of merch that just has a logo on it or some other basic shit, bc doing anything more artistic, dynamic, or innovative is scrutinized by everyone within that organization. 'what is this saying?' 'will this sell?' 'will a lot of people like this?' 'is this too provocative?' 'is this color choice too feminine?' 'this needs to appeal to a wide variety of people'

This is the self-feeding culture of mundane-ness. Like so much of our culture is mass-produced garbage that you don't LOVE but you also don't HATE. This is where consumerism lives and expression fucking dies.
