According to eyewitnesses who sent the video, trainer Dmitry Bachinsky beat up two adult male beluga whales — on the left, a 12-year-old beluga whale Nil, Bachinsky punched with his fist, on the right - 13-year-old beluga Lir, Bachinsky kicked him with his legs. THIS BEHAVIOR IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! People wonder how animals in marine parks, shows and circuses are trained, sadly this happens FAR TOO OFTEN! These highly intelligent and social creatures are taken from their families at a very young age and continuously beaten, starved and tortured, their spirits completely broken, until they perform for unaware crowds. WE MUST WORK TOGETHER TO STOP THIS! Let’s work together to end cruel businesses like these once and punish anyone who abuses animals to the fullest extent of the law! Shark Fact 8: Respiratory System

Nurse Shark

Some species of sharks have a spiracle that allows them to pull water into their respiratory system while at rest. Most sharks have to keep swimming to pump water over their gills.

A shark's spiracle is located just behind the eyes which supplies oxygen directly to the shark's eyes and brain. Bottom dwelling sharks, like angel sharks and nurse sharks, use this extra respiratory organ to breathe while at rest on the seafloor. It is also used for respiration when the shark's mouth is used for eating.

Random fish photobomb. It happens more often than you think. Another image from one of my dive trips at the now permanently closed Isla Guadalupe. The island - part of Mexico - has always been closed - it’s used by the Mexican military and occasionally fishermen - but the waters around it were rife with Great White Sharks on migratory feeding runs across the Pacific. But now environmental concerns will allow the sharks to be sharks free from human observation and interaction.
