happy self insert week!

here's a thing I wrote a while back, that was originally intended to go after this fic, but the direction of the fic changed so drastically It didn't work anymore, but please enjoy! (for context, Grian has just beat Scar in the final fight of 3rd life)

Grian expected to wake up back on Hermitcraft, or in the weird limbo other hermits had talked about when you die in hardcore and UHCs, but this was even weirder. An infinite, white expanse, not unlike the infinity rooms from Season 6, stretched before him. Soft classical music played, and he spotted another figure sitting on the ground, wearing dark jeans, blue shoes, and a black and white hoodie with pink web designs on the arms.

“H-hello?”

“Hey,” I set my laptop on the ground next to me, and stood up, a couple inches taller than him. ∴ᔑ╎ℸ, リ𝙹, ℸ ̣ ⍑╎ᓭ ╎ᓭ ℸ ̣ ⍑╎∷↸ !¡ᒷ∷ᓭ𝙹リ ⎓𝙹ᓵ⚍ᓭᒷ↸ 𝙹リ ⊣∷╎ᔑリ, ꖌᒷᒷ!¡ ╎ℸ ̣  ᓵ𝙹リᓭ╎ᓭℸ ̣ ᒷリℸ ̣.

Grian watched as her laptop kept typing away, even though she wasn’t touching it any more.

“I wish my laptop did that in real life,” she sighed, looking at it. Her voice had a slight lisp, similar to Bdubs.

“This isn’t real life?”

“Nope, this is one part of inside my head, the rest isn’t nearly this calm.”

“So none of this is real?”

“Just because it’s happening inside my head doesn’t mean it’s not real,” she grinned, “I’m Gwen. And you’re Grian, or ̇/ᒷꖎᑑ⚍ᔑ.”

“You’re that girl I saw back in the cave!”

“That’s me, I wasn’t being as careful as I should have been with the fourth wall.”

“The fourth-nevermind, why am I here?”

“Because you won.”

“Won what?”

“3rd life.”

“How did you know that?”

“Third life: an SMP in which each player received 3 lives upon joining, the premise being that during their final life, the member becomes hostile and tries to kill other members. The players are also confined within the world border which separates them from the rest of the generated world,” Grian heard in her voice, but she didn’t move her mouth. 

“Who said that? I heard it, but not in my head like a Watcher.”

“That was me, sorry. You asked how I knew what 3rd life was, and I guess you got answered.”

“Why am I here? And don’t say because I won, I already know that.”

“Because...I’m here to pass on some information, and give you your prize.”

“What information?”

“Well,” she ran a hand through her dark hair, “I don’t exactly know. All I know is that you will know, when I break the connection.”

“Break the connection?”

“I mean, let you out of my mind. I’m always watching you. Wait, no, that sounds creepy. Uh...I am a regular viewer of your content?”

“You’re a Viewer?”

“Technically, yeah.”

“Technically?”

“I...I watch Grian, but not you, the stuff this guy makes in Minecraft.” A large photo of a man with sandy hair, glasses, and holding a brown spotted cat popped up behind her.

“Who’s that?”

“That’s you-well, it’s actually Charles and Maui, but it’s you in real life, and not in the fanfiction I’m writing.”

“Huh. Does every Hermit have someone like that?”

“Yep!”

More pictures filled the room. Mumbo with no moustache and lighter hair. Scar in a wheelchair, holding Jellie. Who he guessed the Viewers’ real life versions of Stress, False, Scar, Mumbo, and Iskall were, sitting in a semi-circle talking. A short video of Bdubs standing out in the rain, grinning. He caught snippets of phrases floating through the air.

“Greetings, cyberdogs and citizens of the interbubs! This is Ren-diggity-dog coming at ya in another Minecraft episode from the Hermitcraft server!”

“Howdy y'all! Joe Hills here recording as I always do in Nashville, Tennessee.”

“Ooh, hello, my fellow miners and crafters! GoodTimesWithScar here...”

Pictures upon pictures filled the room, people he didn’t recognize, pictures of cats, builds he had never seen before, random words and incoherent ideas floating around, until they all vanished.

“Sorry,” Gwen said, “I got a little carried away with that, sometimes my brain goes faster than my...brain. That must have been really overwhelming, sorry.”

“Yeah,” Grian sat down on the floor, “So you’re telling me, I don’t exist?” He asked, looking at his hands.

“Oh, no, you do exist, I just took some aspects of you, and put them in my story. So the part of you I’m talking to exist inside my head, and the head of anyone that’s reading this. They could use this characterization as inspiration for their own story or headcannons, a writer could even write their own story based on this one.”

“Whoa.”

“Yeah. This kinda got real meta, real fast, sorry about that.”

“No, it’s-it’s fine. Is that all?”

“Well, you can’t tell anyone about this. The only reason I was able to tell you without your brain breaking was because you’re a Watcher, but yeah, that’s all. I’m gonna send you back to Hermitcraft now, your prize will be waiting on the other side. You ready?” She said, offering him a hand up.

“Ye-yeah. See you later?” Grian said as she helped him up,

“I wouldn’t count on it,” Gwen said as she sat back down, picked up her laptop, and began typing away. He peeked over her shoulder to see what she was writing.

“How were you allowed in here?” A gravelly voice called out from a corner of the lab as you walked in.

“I let myself in.” you reached around you to fix the gun in the waist band if your pants. It was a GSG 1911, you wouldn’t go anywhere near Umbrella without a gun on you.

Guards didn’t obstruct you from entering the building, workers didn’t question your stamping through the halls, scientists let you into the higher clearance area without blinking. Everyone knew of your relationship with Albert Wesker. No one dared to stop you as you made your way to his lab.

“Let me rephrase that. Why are you here?” He stood up from chair he was sitting on, a black turtle neck hugged him tightly as the white lab coat hung loose around him, the shades covering his eyes slipped down his nose and revealed his red eyes to you. They burned right through you. His light brows furrowed at you.

You didn’t have a good answer for that.

You wanted to see him.

That was the worse answer out of all the ones in your mind. You really didn’t have a reason to come see him, and as you marched through the halls you forgot to think of a reason to be here. So you took a deep breath and answered.

“I needed to talk to you.”

“You missed me?” He said it more of an observation, eye brows raised and a smirk playing on his shitty thin lips.

“No.” You answered a little too fast. You walked to him and took a look at him standing. You haven’t seen him in months. The two of you were taking a break from your relationship, you walked out on him.

Stopping a few feet in front of him you watched him sit down in the chair again, facing you, he pushed his glasses back up on his nose. He was a cocky mother fucker. You should dislike him, you should hate his guts, and yet you crave him on some weird level. A part of your brain missed him, begged you to see him, it missed the feeling of his arms around you and his stupid deep chuckle as he held you tighter.

“I hate you.” You looked into the space between his eyes, not wanting to meet his own eyes, but wanting to present yourself as more confident than you really were.

It took a millisecond to register the movement across from you, Wesker had reached behind your back and grabbed the gun, the metal now pressed against your temple, he had dragged you closer to him in the process so you were now in front of him. You flinched at the movement but you stood still as you took a second to understand what just happened, it all happened so fast. You met his eyes that burned under his sunglasses, they held contact before breaking as his gaze shifted to the gun. He dragged it down your cheek, slowly tracing your jawline down to your chin, where he patted the bottom of your chin before that cocky smile reached his lips. The metal grazed your skin as be brought it down to your neck, poking it against your pulse before dragging it back up to your temple. You held still.

“Curious. Curious indeed. You hate me, and yet you trust me to not pull the trigger.”

Your eyes instantly flickered to the gun only to find his pointer finger on the side of the firearm, the safety still on. He wouldn’t hurt you. He wouldn’t kill you. The GSG 1911 pressed back to your pulse, you felt your heart hammering against the metal.

Something shattered in you, be it your pride or your ego, a wall around your heart started to break down. You missed him. You missed him dearly. You hung your head and the gun left your skin.

“Why can’t you be the person i want to hate?” Your voice was barley a whisper.

Wesker stood up once again and hugged you.

How you melted in his arms was embarrassing, something you wouldn’t admit to anyone, not even wanting to accept it yourself.

“I missed you too.” He admitted.

Steve and Bucky vs. German police unit GSG-9 vs. Black Panther.

The Winter Soldier just (allegedly) carried out the assassination of the Wakandan monarch in a U.N. bombing and now everyone is after him. The CIA just want to get in there and gun him down.

Because. Of course that's what you'd do. Last time anyone saw this guy, he slaughtered countless S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and beat Captain America within an inch of his life to carry out Hydra's ultimate conquest. He is the most dangerous man on Earth and he will kill everyone you send after him if you give him an inch.

Like. Even the Winter Soldier agrees that they should shoot him without hesitation the second an opportunity emerges.

Meanwhile, T'Challa's out for blood in retribution for his father's murder. Because that's how Wakanda rolls.

And Steve? Even Steve's here to take the Soldier down. The cops can't handle the Winter Soldier. Are you out of your mind? Steve's goal here is to stop the Winter Soldier from slaughtering these officers and then dashing off to go carry out another assassination or something. He only changes sides once he sees the Soldier face to face.

Everyone wants to stop legendary Hydra asset the Winter Soldier. And it would have been really easy to write him like, "Steve? Buddy pal, I'm back!" But they don't take the easy way out. Bucky has not reasserted himself. The Winter Soldier legitimately is still who we're dealing with. He's just not with Hydra anymore, and didn't do the bombing. This makes his meeting with Steve very tense.

So we get this really complicated fight where Steve has to stop the cops from killing the Soldier and the Soldier from killing the cops, while the Soldier is trying to fight off Steve and legitimately trying to overpower the cops without killing them (and not doing a great job of that last part).

And then T'Challa shows up. This fight is a great introduction to the Black Panther, as well as a setup for the limitations of the Winter Soldier. T'Challa outfights everybody, despite the Winter Soldier seeming no less unapproachably dangerous in the rest of the fight than he did in the previous film.

The Soldier is still top-tier assassin/super-soldier. But he's become a part of a bigger universe; He just doesn't know it yet. There are things out there that are tougher than the world's finest super-soldier assassin. And today he met one of them.

The top-Tier Captain America fighter is only a mid-tier Avengers fighter.

That War Machine's arrival abruptly ends the entire fight also reinforces that, while setting up an interesting note that will become important in the third act of the film: Nobody here wants to fight an Iron Man.

(Though T'Challa could probably take him.)

Thanks a bunch for the question, it's actually something I have wanted to do for a while so this certainly gave me a push. I'm gonna use this opportunity to just write what I do and don't do all together. Yeah I totally need to go drink some water

What I write for:

Pronouns / gender: Female (she/her) and gender neutral / non binary (they/them)

NSFW: Consequential, BDSM (light), praise, age gap (younger reader in at least their 20's) there's more that I can't think of right now (feel free to ask about specific things if their not on the no list.

Length: Oneshots, series (unrequestable it just happens), prompts / headcanons (I don't have much practice but I'll give it a go), I'm open to most things in terms of forms

What I do not write for:

Pronouns: Male (he/him)

NSFW: Watersports, scat, noncon / dub-con, orgy, underage, furry, tickling, feet, armpits, inflation. (Any typically gross kink)

SFW: Depression, self-harm, pregnancy, mental illness (PTSD is the exception), poc specific / focused (I don't have the experience to get this correct, menstruation, illness (injury is allowed), child or teen, terrorist by choice (eg not a hostage), alcohol / recreation drug consumption

Overly specific requests, in the past I have encountered really really specific requests of like plot where they wanted and I just can't work with it. (Like SUPER specific eg: they do this then do that then escape this way) If you do request something there are no downsides to clarifying what you request. I sometimes do struggle with comprehending things so clarifying exactly what you want is welcome!

The grey zone:

Poly relationships are something I'm open to writing for but I'm rather picky on the groups. For R6S at the moment there's no poly groups that I'm currently open writing for.

Love triangles isn't exactly something I write for kinda. I'll write exes and like moving on from them.

Prompts for all of a group are a grey zone, so long as I write for a decent amount of the group (orange and above) then I'll probably just do it if it's like headcanons or something. If I do struggle with a certain character, I'll just exclude them. I might write any things for groups as just like a discussion/headcanons or drabbles. You are welcome to mix match as well if you want the same headcanon but for multiple ops. (Try not to go a max of 4, I may or may not write them all so please say if you have a higher preference of who if you have one.)

If the reader is from a country it will default to NZ because that's where I'm from (possibly Aussie because our culture is similar). I'll put it in the A/N if I am mentioning this, which also means a lot of cultural things will always be to NZ culture for example schooling is primary - intermediate - high school - uni.

This is of course subject to change, some of the characters in red / orange I do like but may not have a good characterisation of them. The orange zone is very orange and certainly depends on the request, some people are closer to green than others. If there's a specific orange operator that you wish to know about feel free to ask how I feel about them. Green is more of the will always say yes (so long as the prompt is something I write). If I just don't like something I may just say no even if it's to the rules.That being said, so long as something isn't a strict no/red, feel free to ask! Fresh out of anodizing!

I am in love with the incredibly vibrant turquoise on that jpl- the heart was fun to play with- and a few other pieces surprised me happily. The gsg at top right however made me sad.

So now I have to go write and torture my characters because that 20 gauge titanium didn’t want to go past a hint of rose gold when I was shooting for rainbow.

Morning Consult’s just released weekly tracking poll found something that we’ve been discussing as the likely scenario this spring - that as the campaigns turn on, and it becomes clear it is Biden-Trump, a big chunk of Biden’s wandering base will come home. We will then we have a campaign to go get the rest and hopefully go beyond it and get to 55.

Biden retakes lead from Trump: Biden leads Trump, the likeliest Republican presidential nominee for 2024, by 1 percentage point (44% to 43%) in our latest national tracking survey. It’s Biden’s first lead over Trump since early January, and is driven by coalescence among the voters who backed him last time around: 85% of Biden 2020 voters say they’d vote for him if the election were today, the largest share since early September.

As I keep writing what the polls are finding is a close, competitive election. Trump does not definitively lead. He is a far weaker candidate than in 2020. the Y.I.G.A. in lu gsg stands for young industry gunslinger agency and they solely founded to honor ganondorf, a once government agent who, once fired, started an assassins guild for the gerudo people these assassins were called gunslingers and while ganondorf was eventually caught and placed into prison those that opposed the government saw opportunity in gunslingers and eventually started an agency to train children who would ultimately be abandoned and left to die by society :’) the only reason Y.I.G.A. is able to work with the secret government is because they employ mostly sheikah, people who the kingdom of hyrule trust greatly

Ignoring a Writing Blooper

I had noticed a major blunder in the MCU film, “CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR”.  Following the bombing of the Sokovia Accords conference in Vienna, Austria; Bucky Barnes became the major suspect, thanks to Helmut Zemo framing him.  Bucky was spotted living in Bucharest, Romania.  

However, screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus had German police special forces - the GSG-9 - go to Romania in order to arrest Bucky Barnes.  I had questioned this writing decision, considering that a) Bucky Barnes was an American citizen; b) he was living in Romania at the time of the bombing; c) the bombing occurred on Austrian soil; d) the GSG-9 has no jurisdiction outside of Germany or over NON-GERMAN citizens or property.  Also, Romania had its own special police forces - the Independent Unit for Special Interventions and Actions aka the SIAS.

When I had brought this up on forums or message boards like Quora or Reddit, I received some of the most contrived excuses ever known to man.  NO ONE wanted to admit the presence of a writing blooper in “CIVIL WAR”, a MCU movie.  This determination to pretend that McFeely and Markus had not committed a writing blooper struck me as incredibly blind and very pathetic.
