In the book (and movie adaptation) of SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, Hannibal orders lamb chops right after Clarice tells him the story about the lambs. Her story is, basically, that she got spooked because the lambs were being slaughtered and their screaming terrified her (and the horses). She ran away with a horse as a result.
I realized Hannibal related to this story. The lambs are to Clarice what Mischa, his sister, was to him. As a child, his sister was slaughtered by starving men, and then Hannibal himself ate her because he was also starving (and delirious). In HANNIBAL RISING, in his sleep he would hear Mischa screaming his name, calling for help, but he couldn't help her. He would wake up in a terror.
Hannibal: You still wake up sometimes, don't you? You wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of the lambs.
Clarice: Yes.
His ordering of the lamb chops expresses the fact that he relates to Clarice.
Hannibal developed this mentality, not just that he has to eat the rude -- basically do to the rude what the rude did to him -- but also, he feels you have to eat that which you love, so as to ensure that their suffering was not in vain. He tried to find the positive in a terribly negative situation, as a means of survival. Basically, to cope with the horrors of having eaten his sister, he told himself that eating even what you love is a GOOD thing.
But yeah, the first time I read these books, I was in my mid/late teens and didn't pick up on as much. I just got to that part in the book, where he orders the lamb chops right after Clarice tells him the story, and I thought that was beautiful in a way. It shows that he is, in fact, still human.
It also explains why he felt such relief after she finally told him the story. He sensed it, her traumas, and he wanted to feel understood. He wanted someone to relate to. Which just shows that he was very lonely and seeking a companion, of sorts.
That's one reason he's an interesting character, he does feel things, and he has emotions, he's just... unconventional. He doesn't think or express himself in the way one typically would -- he is absolutely a victim of trauma, whether he wants to believe it or not.
But most people will see/read that (his ordering the lamb chops after being told Clarice's story) and think he did it just to be Evil. But he actually did it because he RELATES to her, he sees himself in her. His trauma is showing, and it relates to hers.

Thank you to everyone who read, reviewed and sent messages about Cometh the Hour’ and ‘Cometh the Man’. Big shout out to @tnyhpknslvr who was with it from the start!
This is the third and final (for now) instalment of the series... a prequel if you like :) If you haven’t read the other two yet, you should start there first.
Fanfiction: Knocked Up

Ok but... I'm going nuts but... Am I the only one that sees Tserreidnich and Theta and it reminds me of Hannibal and Clarice?

I can't be the only one, right? I saw this art where Theta was in the Silence of the Lambs poster.

- I could make you very happy on Valentine’s Day, Clarice Starling. - How, Doctor Lecter? - By sending you a wonderful Valentine. I’ll have to think about it.
The scenes between Lecter and Clarice are basically seduction scenes. With these scenes I think you approach exactly as if you were writing a sort of courtship between two lovers. - Ted Tally, screenwriter of The Silence of the Lambs (February 14th, 1991)

Clannibal sketch in a kind of anime/manga style, I wanted to try and in the end I like it.

//I like roleplaying with show characters and stuff but I will always be drawn to Clarice and Hannibal. I will always defend the ship. It's so complicated and wonderful and I think she compliments him perfectly. It isn't a submission based relationship, there isn't a dominant persay but they stand on even ground with each other, neither on their knees.

I think I finally solved how I can make even the most tone deaf, gross shippers fucking,,, realize that the main villain in my book is supposed to be a Bad abuser
I just add the plot twist that he cheats, get’s a new wife and starts referring to her the exact same ways he referred to the main character he’s abused, making it fucking crystal clear that he never actually cared about them and everything he’s done and said was just to control and manipulate the main character

favorite color: Any shade of blue!
top 3 ships: 1) David x Maddie from Moonlighting. This ship is my happy place, cuz without fail, they always make me laugh and smile and I LOVE THEM A LOT. Plus, their chemistry is through the roof. They didn’t cause the infamous Moonlighting Curse without a reason, you know. ;) Long story short, they’re the ship of all ships.
2) Ralph x Meggie from The Thorn Birds. I’ve re-read this book at least three times, and will probably continue to re-read it for the rest of my life. I love how I get something new out of the dynamic/book each and every time. During my last re-read, my heart really ached and I was sad for days, cuz I realized they were never truly happy. Like dang, it’s amazing how much perspective you gain after a handful of years.
3) Will x Abigail from Hannibal. (I’m still stuck in this fandom, so I can’t escape it lol.) I love hurt-comfort ships, and this one is like the H/C ship to end all H/C ships since they’ve been through SO MUCH, and at the hands of the same a.buser, so they could’ve really been beautiful if they’d leaned on one another for support. FOREVER BITTER that they didn’t get the same dynamic as the one in the RD book! ***whispers: I also love HannibalxClarice, RhettxScarlett (book version), SpikexFaye, MugenxFuu, GoldenSwan, ETC. ETC. ETC. ETC.***
lipstick or chapstick: In terms of comfort, chapstick (I hate how lipstick tends to make my lips peel!), but in terms of actual enjoyment, and I really love lipstick shades.
last song: I’ve been listening to the Body Heat soundtrack, which are a bunch of film noir-esque instrumental tracks. I’m writing, and that’s what I tend to listen to when I write, nowadays. :) Though in terms of actual songs with lyrics, I was listening to a bunch of Memoryhouse songs earlier this evening. Good stuff! Her work’s very ethereal and haunting.
last movie: True Romance -- pretty good, though it’s rough in parts since it’s a T.arantino film.
currently reading: Some Quiet Place by Kelsey Sutton. I honestly don’t like YA that much (the horrible love triangle tropes always tend to ring true, and in this book it’s no exception), but a friend gave me this a few years ago, and it’s not bad! It took a while for me to get into it though.

“This is really no place for you to be, Clarice,” he told her, stepping over the body of her attacker to stand in front of her.
She lowered her eyes, unsure of what to say.
“Come here,” he urged, softly.
For a moment, she didn’t move.
“Please,” he added.

“Would they give you a medal, Clarice, do you think? Would you have it professionally framed and hang it on your wall to look at and remind you of your courage and incorruptibility? All you would need for that, Clarice, is a mirror”.
