Let's be honest...my ultimate goal is to write an Aziracrow fic that inspires someone to make art for it.

The last time I tried doing NaNo was over 10 years ago.
Back when I had neither husband nor children and had heaps of free time.
I think I tried it like 4 times/years, and never succeeded or won even once.
Not even a little bit. Not even close.
I really don't know what I'm thinking or expecting by trying again.
But hey--Hope Springs Eternal, right? :)

Best of luck to everyone doing NanoWriMo 2023! (Or some version of it.) Whatever happens, I hope you fare better than I (surely) will! <3

your cosmic call sign
pairings: steve/eddie, steve & the party; background relationships: dustin/suzie, mike/eleven, lucas/max     chapter count: 6/6     rating: t     summary: Steve looks up at the sky and sees stars. Eddie looks up at the sky and sees alien spaceships. It’s going to start with a graveyard shift, a midnight radio hour, and Dustin Henderson. It’s going to end New Year’s Eve, 1985—one way or another.     read the finale on ao3. start from the beginning here.
And love, well. Love is a very small thing. It slips through the slotted fingers of intertwined hands. He carries it out in a takeout bag from Benny’s. It’s the length of an episode of The Twilight Zone, not a second longer than a song recommended to him by a voice on his radio. It’s captured on 8mm. Only when he steps back and considers these tiny and insignificant acts together, does love reveal itself to be a vast sky of a million little stars.

it is like, sort of ridiculous how much easier nanowrimo has gotten over the years for me. i remember being in high school and just absolutely fucking gritting my teeth to get through the last few hundred words each day. extracting everything I had and discovering it was only like 30 words. having absolutely no idea what to do plot-wise. having absolutely no idea how people even thought of plots. because i just couldn’t! i couldn’t do it and i didn’t know why! I threw so many random events at those drafts because I could not conceive of any other way to build a story. and i struggled through the 50k each year somehow with like Herculean fucking effort, and don’t get me wrong I am very proud of little me, but im also mad it was so hard!
this year I can draft like 3-4 pages by hand, and type them up, and that usually gets me over 1667. if not, it’s not too hard to carry on from there. i am ahead. i have coherent ideas about what I am doing and how to get there. I have an ending and I can rotate a whole project in my head like a beautiful rotisserie chicken. this specific change is not due to years of writing experience. this is because i got properly medicated. i have actual working memory capacity now. i have the mental processing space necessary to write a coherent story, which I didn’t even know was something i was missing. the difference is boggling. i just thought i naturally struggled with big-picture stuff and that would never change. no bitch!!! i have a goddamn motherfucking neurological disorder

Hey guys, I finally got around to editing the final draft of the novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo 2021!
If you want to check it out, it's available as an ebook for £1.99 here :3
There's a blurb/summary for you to read on the page, but just for the hook: if you like cozy/low stakes summer fun, mermaids, selkies, sea monsters, confused bi girls, and fantasy that's kinda sorta set in the 'real' world then you might like Seaglass!
