So I really liked Yu-Gi-Oh! when it first came to 4Kids! and I was in about 4th grade, so about 9 or 10 years old. Was super into Duel Monsters, thought it was awesome.
My mom found me watching the episode where Kaiba, dueling Yugi, stands on a parapet of Pegasus' castle and tells Yugi that if he attacks, it might send Kaiba flying off the castle wall and kill him. My mom said, "I don't want you watching this show." (She was fine with Pokemon and that TCG, but this was Too Dark (tm). )
Never lost my love for it. Watched the neighbor kids play it. Watched classmates play it. Watched the first series in college and then watched my college friends play it.
About a year ago, some friends started teaching me how to play Duel Monsters speed duels. I'm not any good but they are great teachers and it was loads of fun!
So Geoffery started encouraging me to buy some cards, but I always had a reason not to... couldn't spend the money, wasn't familiar with these monsters, etc.
Then this week I was sick as heck and miserable. And I had worked a ton of extra hours the last couple weeks and made some extra money on my most recent paycheck.
So I wanted a treat for myself, because I was miserable and had some extra bucks.
And Geoffery found me this
And that's how a 21-year obsession finally came full circle and how I, a 31 year old, came into possession of my first ever brand new Duel Monsters cards, and I am SO FREAKING DELIGHTED.
HARPIE'S PET DRAGON??? DARK NECROFEAR???
The set came with a die, 5 different designs possible and I got the Dark Magician which is OF COURSE the one I wanted!!!!
I am like a kid on Christmas, ooooooooooh girl I am so EXCITED!!!!

so like I'm not the only one who really dislikes the humanoid familiars and finds them weird in FR even if lore wise and everything they make sense
Note: Also clarification for what I mean by "humanoid", I don't mean "furry adjacent" but I mean like straight up almost a person
#i know familiars ≠ pets but when a lot of the familiars in FR are creatures and animals its kinda like ehhhhhh#i actually think itd be really cool if theres a super rare chance of having a harpy or other humanoids join your flight#theyd essentially be just another dragon in your flight; i kinda think the mechanic would work like eggs#idk just a cool idea :] me thinks anyways#flight rising

Epithet: The Harpie Family's Ambassador
Voice Actor: Darren Dunstan
Tribe: The Dragon Republic
Biography: Although called 'Harpie's Pet Dragon', Cassius of Galestorm isn't just some pet for the Harpie Lady Sisters to ride into battle.
A member of the Dragonian Senate, Cassius is also known as The King of the Winged Mountain, which is home to the Harpie Ladies that patrol the north-to-northeastern mountain ranges that protect the Icy Frontier that Hyo calls home.
He willingly submitted himself to the Harpie Queen when she defeated him in battle, and became the representative of the Winged Beasts after he and the Harpie Lady Sisters helped overthrow the Five-Headed Dragon.
He's also part courier for the Harpie Queen herself, who once spoke with the Dark Magician and was convinced to be an ally in exchange for helping redistribute land taken by the Dragons that once controlled those northeastern forest areas.

The reason the harpies have a pet dragon is because harpie girl found a baby dragon and brought it back with her and asked if she can keep it like a kid who finds a stray animal and asks their parents if they can keep it.

Just some practice things lol I like the perspective on this
Btw Grian lore down below cause I didn’t put it in his design post lol there’s a lot so sorry in advance ^^
Base design:
Base design is based off a mockingbird, his exact species category is a Mocking harpy, with the ability to shapeshift and mimic other birds
(his feathers will never lose the base inspo, even if he is mimicking other bird species, so if he was mimicking a parrot the yellow would replace the white and reg the light brown and blue the darker brown etc the yellow will have a hint of white markings but ye!)
season 7, would be a Parrot mimic, since he lived in the jungle for the most part and he did the pesky bird bit
season 8 would be a snowy owl/ender dragon mimic, cause he did a harry potter inspired build, and harry’s main pet is a snow owl and had a ender dragon baby(egg)
the life games are just dependent on his surroundings!
(ex, Last life would be burrowing dessert owl, cause they lived in a dessert that session!)
He is constantly feathered, mainly seen on his cheeks and shoulders. He will keep this feature throughout the entirety of his mimics as well as his signature ‘waffle’
he can hide his wings, tail and bird like legs to appear more human but he will never lose the feathers on his back/shoulders
Clothing:
hes clothing also serves a purpose i didn't just make his clothes revealing on purpose lol
His backless sweater, for his wings to move without hindering the movements at all, would show his upper body so I added an additional undershirt just so he isn’t practically shirtless. Both tie in the back at the back above his tail but only the under shirt ties in the back on his neck
his pants! They have long slits in the sides so he can access his pouches (his inventory basically) on the side of his legs and knives. Bird legs are difficult to make pants for so the baggy :D he also had shorts so he wouldn’t flash anyone lol it has a clip in the back that goes over his tail so he wouldn’t have to pull his tail through his pants
Watcher Nature: (Still in progress)
Rouge watcher
When he has high negative emotions his eyes will get a purple tint and will become more intense the more intense emotions he gets
While in his watcher form, he can have any amount of wings, like a seraph, and his wings get glowing eyes like the one floating above his head. He is rarely in this form but he is often overwhelmed in this form and chooses to hide from the hermits in a dark space to calm down.
(hermitcrafts security mechanics for watchers do not work on watchers already in the world. Thus would not go off if Grian is in this form, X would later add him to the exceptions list)
Shifting nature:
Grian was originally human, when evo started he was just a guy hanging out with his friends, but when he was taken by the watchers they gave him a ‘gift’, that being part harpy. The watchers fused Grian’s code with a birds, and eventually he grew traits that made him a harpy. Shapeshifting was just a oopsie trait the watchers didn't expect grian to develop
