Writeblr Intro

my name is haven, i use plural ey/em pronouns, and i'm an adult. i reblog most things (including random funny shit and other people's writing) on my main blog, @hghrules, which is also where I follow and like from.

i write prompt fills on here, but i also intend to start posting snippets of my current modern fantasy wip, Seven Lovely Sins (name pending).

i'm new to writeblr, but i'm totally open to ask games and events and anything else; if you send me an ask or something talking about your OCs or WIP, i will absolutely reply!

what sparked your interest in witchcraft?

So I’ve always loved magic systems in fiction and figuring out how they work. To me, witchcraft is a puzzle that I like to take apart and then put back together in interesting ways. The wonderful thing about it is that there’s always something new to learn; nobody is ever an expert in witchcraft, imo, although they can certainly be comfortable and confident in where they are in their own path and not feel the need to explore further (which isn’t a bad thing at all).

That’s what maintains my interest in witchcraft, but to actually answer your question… For a long time I thought you had to be Wiccan to be a witch + I was very skeptical of the New Age racism and general bullshit, but then @jasper-polytheist-wizard informed me that being Wiccan isn’t a requirement and introduced me to the witchy side of tumblr… and the rest is history, pretty much!

It helps that a good chunk of modern witches are conscious of colonialism, racism, queerphobia, and imperialism in the community and aren’t seeking to perpetuate those wrongs, although those issues definitely persist in witchy and pagan spaces; if I hadn’t found witches like @breelandwalker and @traegorn fighting the good fight against misinformation and bigotry here, I probably would have left the community just as fast as I had jumped in.

Omg I am so sorry, I didn’t mean it in a weird way, we just didn’t know much about her. I know some people react differently about the subject of adoption of fostering or whatever she is or was, so I’m sorry.

I don’t really know what you are apologizing for, buuuut it’s okay I think! Tim just is a verbally aggressive guy, but I do want to say sorry if what I wrote was too mean, that is never my intention. I just thought it was funny coming right after people simping for Connie to have Tim immediately be protective of his own mom cause the internet can be a bit weird when it comes to moms lol. The other joke was how the thing Tim said does not match his expression at all so it’s like meant to come off “sounding” cheerful when his words are very harsh. But no no, this is all in good fun so don’t worry! If an ask actually made me uncomfortable I would either straight up say so or simply not answer.

Hi there! I just wanted to thank you for your insights on my work, I don't get much interaction and I really appreciate it! (writer of Thorne & Rainclouds for context)

I'm glad you could feel the feelings coming through Reid's journal entry because I was pouring my own emotions in after my dnd character tragically passed and I feel like that helped quite a bit. Also I have this excerpt which shows Reid & Crow interacting a bit which I think might give you some more context to their relationship if you're interested. I'm totally open to any and all insights and questions about my work, I'm just happy to have the interaction.

Good luck on any and all endeavors you may do! And just know that you gave me a lil more inspiration to keep writing.

#oc #haven #i worked genuinely hard as fuck on this one #tfw you follow someone to their home to demand they speak with you face to face because you want to commit extreme violence on them #over a business dispute. and because they do not want you to do this they simply do not come outside. and you eventually make it clear you #will not be leaving until they come outside so you can discuss (read: harm them over) said business dispute. so they turn on their #sprinkler system and go to sleep. and you decide on the spot that this isn't that big a deal and if you leave now you'll lose ALL #credibility FOR EVER. so you decide to stand around and wait until they come out and . by the time the morning arrives you have #contracted Hypothermia and The Beginnings Of Pneumonia and also Did Not Maul That Guy #started this as a proof of concept test of doing an overpainting on super vivid red #expecting to spend like #maybe forty minutes on it #and then about uh.... like... at least seven hours later i was like okaayyyyy now im done #stay tuned i have two variants that didnt make the cut also #also the picture is big as fuck so i recommend straight up opening it into a different tab to look at details #not that there are that many #i painted it 80% at zoom-out scale

i have never seen two ppl in hollywood speak as genuinely and kindly and lovingly about the other person as jonah and halle do 😭😭 i just love their friendship so much, the mutual love and respect and admiration they share for each other was definitely the main reason ariel and eric's love was so believable in the live action film — they had that sense of genuine friendship as the foundation. i need them in 100 more projects together

yet another reprise of the same post i’ve made dozens and dozens of times before but GEEZ! i am so incredibly lucky to be doing what i’m doing! to think i spend hours and hours and days and weeks and months and years and hopefully DECADES pouring over animation history, lauding the masters and studying their work so intently and absorbing it and feeling and identifying with it, and the fact that i get to walk the same turf they did. that i get to be a part of this business that they established. that i get to carry the torch and that, some day, no matter how small or insignificant, my own work and contributions will be regarded as “animation history” because i work in animation and all history is history. i just can’t believe that i’m privileged enough to indulge in some of the same practices that The Greats did, that i get to study their work and, if i’m so lucky, channel and make homages to it where possible.

this isn’t to say “i’m just like Tex Avery because i work in animation TOO!!!!”, but, rather, an expression of my sheer GRATITUDE and amazement that i get to do what i do at all. i’ve met so many nice people. blossomed so much as an artist and cartoonist. get inspired each day by the talent i am constantly surrounded by. and to think that i get to be a part of it!!!!! that i get to carry the torch! i know this sounds so conceited and pompous and i really don’t mean it that way at all because i don’t WANT to be known as someone who people are only interested in because i work in cartoons. i just wanna be known for me! what “me” is i guess is for you to decide! but, regardless, i’m just feeling extra thankful tonight that i’m able to indulge in my passions and SPREAD my passions and have said passions fostered. that i’m lucky enough to tread the same ground as some of the greatest creatives that gave me this ground to tread on. there will never be enough words to properly articulate just how deeply and passionately my gratitude extends.

#not naming names because i feel weird bragging about them behind their back but one person who works on our show i look up to very very #highly. I MEAN I DO FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. i am literally surrounded by some of the best in the business. but one person i particularly revere #said they were a ‘big fan of my work’ and when i was told that i legitimately went lightheaded for a few seconds #or again Ruth Clampett commenting that her dad would ‘love to see this cartoon live on’ on my art and making me bawl like an absolute baby #IT’S JUST SO CRAZY #i just. man #it’s really beyond words #and so many other kind words from bosses coworkers friends mutuals acquaintances total strangers #i don’t take any of your kindness or even just. awareness for granted #i know i’m not often vreat at responding but i do read every single tag every ask every DM! please know i never take it for granted #thank you for keeping me company and deciding i’m worth the company to keep #okay i think i have officially gone into word salad territory so it’s time to retreat #i’ve gotten much less candid for fear of maintaining some semblance of professionality but sometimes you just need to speak from the heart #(and i’ve gotten much less neurotic about that in recent months thankfully. Tumblr is my little safe haven) #so thank you for making it a safe haven at all
