Adam's Smile and Lute's Tears
Adam was an asshole, no question, but what he had with Lute was a hundred percent real.
Given his past record of relationships, for all we know, Lute was the only person who never left him. He smiles at her because she's still here with him in his last moments. That's the last thing he did before he died and it was all for the sake of someone else.
The fact that Lute shed tears and mourned his death speaks volumes of their relationship. Whether it's romantic or platonic, there is love.
Lute loved Adam and gladly worked by his side despite his many, and I mean MANY flaws. And I think Adam loved Lute too because she stood by him.

Thinking about how in the beginning of the series, Sir Pentious just wanted to be recognized(by the Vees, by the sinners of Hell). He just wanted people to see him and his worth.
And at the end of the season he's redeemed, has the eyes of Heaven itself on him, and has the literal King Of Hell salute to him

Alastor Bleeds Too
We were all gobsmacked when we saw Adam curbstomp Alastor in battle, but it's shocking on rewatch to see blood. Alastor's blood. On Adam's sword!
Alastor, the Radio Demon and a feared overlord in Hell, he's certainly powerful, but this showed that he is not invincible. Nobody in the show seemingly is, not even Adam and the angels, but Alastor builds his reputation on fear, and look at him here. He has been kicked down hard enough to actually bleed.
Everyone is talking about how he was on the verge of a breakdown because of his own situation of being trapped in a deal (possibly with Lilith) but I think his fear comes more from feeling helpless. Take a look at this shot.
He is bent over, clutching at the injury on his chest, the same place where Adam struck him and spilled his blood because he can still feel it, feel pain. He is terrified that he, who without a doubt spills plenty of blood on a good day for fun, bleeds too. That notion clearly horrifies him enough to trigger his panic and genuine fear. The fear that he bleeds too and is not as powerful as he strives so hard to make himself out to be.
