Haven't seen one of these floating around for the recent MTAP tag but here's some gameplay tips I've picked up as a newbie who picked this up while it was 80% off on steam. I was mega stressed early on due to not knowing things and would be happy to pass on advice to save others the stress:

1. Reddit is good for advice and tumblr is penalizing me for links so yeah. Use the reddit community and/or wiki when stuck. Link to a decent set of advice is in the replies to this post.

2. Repair your workshop as soon as possible bc you'll wake up with low stamina daily until that gets done. Doesn't take more than like 30ish or so pieces of wood.

3. Yep the advice to make more than one machine is correct. Even for the blender. Maybe not the cooking setup or basic skiver per se. Yes, this will use up resources and space. Use the For Sale sign to expand space (or be like me and try to cram a level 2 house into a space too small for it 😅).

4. In the small planter boxes, grow lettuce, cotton, and wheat as much as possible if you can. You can also grow other things, but these seem to be the most helpful for feeding mounts and skiver crafting. Large boxes are for the special giant seeds and you can get the box from the church store and seeds from the Mysterious Man. Fertilize often to have the best shot at winning the Autumn Festival!

5. No, you can't have a rival romance with Higgins, tragically. But you can spar and body block him and chat to him until 9 AM to prevent him from taking commissions, especially the fancy valuable ones. I'm currently chill with being at rank 2 in my first year so I don't bother yet. I still think we should be allowed to woo him. As a treat. And mechanic to make him nicer 😅. Btw once he scams you (you'll know when) talk to him as soon as possible after and you can at least guilt him into giving you money.

6. No seriously do use Gust's shop in A&G to swap for 999 wood and keep furnaces running. You'll get wayyy too much stone from mining and the first quarry only gives so much marble for stone tables to sell en masse when the market is up. Other quarries are annoying to get to in the early game. Use the excess for wood first, then making stone bricks or stone tools etc to sell or whatever. Go wild. I make excess glass to sell since it's more profitable than raw resource selling, yep even with the wood cost. Still haven't figured out how to make excess soil more profitable besides planter boxes.

7. If you don't wanna feel like a monster for killing llamas for their worn fur, you can totally kill panbats. I like all the critters so I feel like a monster regardless 🥴. Kinda has to be done for certain quests and quest items tho.

8. Make allll the Dee-Dee Stops you can for the spots marked on the map. You can also have your mount follow you to the next stop.

9. Bring or make stamina repletion food when mining, esp if you have the game speed slowed down and don't run to the Round Table to replete (you have a limited number of things you can eat and can only eat once daily... Or you could try sitting for an hour if you aren't like me and it won't drive you crazy to sit and do nothing).

10. Annoying timed storyline quest needed items that you can collect earlier while the main story has no time limit for progression per se: pretty much all ores/ore products and special mining items like valves and engines, wild cocoons, ironwood (more than you think), bat wings, bamboo papaya, information discs (I keep the extra beyond the ones I give Petra for research in general for the storyline quest diagrams; I can complete the relics later), knight badges from the Round Table (minimum 250 of them), old parts, crystal necklace x1, dog food x1, soap x1, wildflower bouquet from Alice x1, tempering fluid, copper and steel wire, steel planks, welding rods. Can't think of the other ones that were super urgent and non-commission board rn as of Winter 1st (my latest stopping point) but yeah this is totally a hoarding game.

11. P.S. To get into the hazardous ruins area as a lower level, literally just dodge and run for 60 seconds. Do a hit if you feel brave. Yes, it's cowardly but it totally works and unlocks neat stuff you really need for certain quests. You can kick their asses later.

12. The worst that can happen if you die is that you get warped back home. Same for passing out at 3 AM but without the health depletion. Use that knowledge for what you will. I've noticed in boss battles it just bumps me back to the start of the battle with full health and stamina so I only get warped back further in other situations.

The food you eat does feel pain.

Scientists did a study on a tobacco plant and learned that plants do, in fact, get stressed. They make a noise at frequencies so high that humans can not hear it, so the Scientists used a device to hear said sounds. When plants are bitten into or harmed in general, they even release chemicals to ease pain. When plants lack in nutrients, they'll make higher pitched sounds. Some of em do knocking shit. In conclusion

Plants are fucking needy

So yeah.

Plants feel shit, too. That will not stop me from biting the shit outta that lettuce, tho. That shit slaps harder than my mom.

Also, another reason for me not to give a damn about whether or not I eat meat and a reason for the vegans who force their ideals on people to leave people alone:

Homosapiens used to be nomadic carnivors who followed their food to hunt it. This went on during the Paleolithic era. As we entered the Neolithic era, we discovered that we could selectively breed the plants that were too unsafe to eat so that they'd be edible for us. And our way of hunting back then wasn't really much better than how we do now.

We, as humans, are supposed to have a LOT of stamina. We could run up to 50 miles a day, and the added factor of quick cool downs thanks to sweat glands damn near everywhere. plus, lack of extra fur made moving that often much easier. We are very intelligent and recourseful, unlike most other species that have more natural weapons on their bodies than we do.

We lack in fangs and claws. Yes, our teeth can tear into human skin, but you're not gonna look at me and tell me you're gonna fight a lion with those pathetic ass teeth.

SO! In order to make up for that, we made weapons like spears and bows and arrows. These are our fangs and claws.

Now, how do these play into the human way of hunting?

We would run our prey down until we caught it or until it suffered a heat stroke. As we got more advanced and realized we really didn't have to do all that, nor did we need to follow the food, we started to selectively breed the plants in order for them to he safe to put in our mouths.

This was the start of the agricultural revolution.

This is when villages were settled down, and everyone started storing food for winter instead of being nomadic.

We also started to selectively breed animals and keep them for food. They probably had more purposes than this, but you get the idea.

Humans opened their eyes and said, "Yo, y'all realize we ain't gotta do this shit, right?"

"Oh shit. You right. Let's try those plants instead. We'll breed em to be safe to eat! And we'll settle here and set up a village!"

So, with all this knowledge, I can say that whatever I choose to put in my mouth, I don't have to feel bad for it.

I just need to respect what I eat. I'll get my food from farms that don't mistreat the animals before killing them.

Mom already told me how to tell if an animal was harmed beforehand. We don't eat harmed food.

I got a budge a few months ago and I'm trying to offer some fresh food (I've done research on what he can and can't eat tho) but he doesn't want to even try it? like seeds he eats out of my hand no problem but when I offered a blueberry he ran away... I've tried offering it multiple times but he seems scared of it? idk if this is normal since my friend who also had a budgie didn't have a problem with it?

November also runs away from anything Slightly Too Big as well. Maybe try something smaller/something you can break into pieces for your bird to be able to inspect and taste? Like thin apple or banana slices? If theyre comfortable with your hand near them, you can try holding it in a way that it looks smaller too. November gets fooled by that

I haven't had much luck with fruits but November and Bravo recognize vegetables as food so they took to broccoli sprouts and lettuce fairly quickly

i was thinking about the cooking headcanons i posted a few weeks ago for the boys and decided i wanted to talk about my ocs as well. for me. as a treat.

cassia: very good cook! her father (oliver) is a train conductor and travels a lot, so as she got older she started helping her mom (esme) out in the kitchen at night. not just to help make mealtime easier but, also, because it was a way to spend time with her mom. esme's a hair-dresser, and as cassia got to the point she could be more independent esme will sometimes take evening clients to make bills more manageable (and sometimes to allow for little family 'treats' when cassia's having a bad day or oliver is in town visiting). so, cassia's more than capable of cooking nice meals for herself and some to leave in the microwave for when esme gets home. but as much as cassia enjoys cooking, she's more of a baker! snickerdoodles are her favorite treat to make. you can count on there being fresh cookies or brownies somewhere in the dubois kitchen at all times.

nyxram: can cook, but it's strictly utility and nutrition. taste isn't important. if you're willing to eat alien food, then you can always count on her meals to be filling and positively reinforce your body/health in some way. ...just don't expect all of them to taste good. ...or, even, taste at all. she has a bit of a routine and is a creature of habit with her meals, so don't expect her to be an adventurous eater or cooker. will often refuse to eat anything considered 'junk food', whether by triceraton standards or... most standards. mikey has never been more offended in. his. life.

gwyn: previously had average/basic cooking skills; she and ash took turns making meals as kids when their parents grew more and more distant. but, due to being on the run for the past several years, she's fallen out of touch with it. she takes what food she can get (often literally; she's not above thievery) and doesn't bat an eye at the taste or sometimes even condition of the food. is the ONE person who would eat whatever don cooked after he burned the shit out of it. because food is food. it's energy to burn, and in her mind she can't afford to be picky or selective. has been known to raid casey and april's fridges without asking. if you don't keep an eye on her during patrols, there's a high chance you're gonna turn around and she's suddenly holding a pretzel she stole from a street stall or a head of lettuce she swiped from the apartment directly below you. once she starts spending more time with the boys/in the lair, however, she'll sometimes linger in the kitchen when mikey or leo cook... --not JUST to pick at scraps/nibble on things when they're not looking (mikey's passive perception doesn't always catch it, but leo's does; he never lets on tho), but also to watch and maybe learn a little. sometimes she joins them.

ash: like i said, took turns with gwyn making meals as their parents grew more distant/obsessed with their work and studies. she was probably the stronger cook/baker out of the two, and her favorite thing to make was bread (a liáfsian version of barmbrack). but, well... now her soul or spirit or something inbetween is trapped in the shapeshifting weapon. she can't eat, doesn't need to eat, and she has no means of cooking independently, either. gwyn will often try her best to describe food to ash (food she enjoys, specifically), but it's been so long that ash has lost a frame of reference to most flavors and sensations that come with taste and eating. a lot of it's lost on her. during the times gwyn will lurk in the kitchen while leo and mikey cook, ash will be the more vocal of the twins; she'll ask the brothers questions about the process, ingredients... and, if she's feeling silly, she'll beg gwyn to hand her over so she can be a cutting utensil. a dagger can be a kitchen knife if you just don't give a fuck.

my dream:

basically there was this small town. they had a party dinner thing in this barnhouse. our main character was this boy, around 11 y/o maybe? he sees this friendly looking man (totally not hannibal) (it was hannibal) and decides to start a convo. convo goes south, man starts pulling out equipment and stating how he'll make "good use" of everyone in the barnhouse at the moment.

THERES SURPRISINGLY BACKSTORY HERE. so earlier on, a lot of the adults were talking about how someone jumped or fell or something off the barnhouse, into the water and died, right? bc the barnhouse was on this like... cliff mountain thing overlooking the water. and ALSO, earlier on, the main dude and his little brother whos around. 6? 7 maybe? had swimming lessons— older bro knows how to swim, his little bro doesnt.

there were also these two dudes sitting at the table in the barn leaning way too close into each others faces...also, i think this was fisher's influenxe but i stsrted fuckign thinking about the symbolism 😭😭 while the convo w hannibal was going on, the light in the barn slowly dimmed and by the time he stated his true purposes, everyone in the barn was in the dark. EXCEPT... these two other kids near a window. i found that weird and started paying attention to them

these other kids were messing around, chaos has started erupting bc everyome in the barn had finally realized what hannibal was gonna do, theyre also an older and younger sibling— younger sibling accidentally falls out the window! into the ocean where someone had JUST died the other day! yippee. older sibling soon follows!

pov switches to little brother. he sees the other kids falling and realizes.. hang on. theres only one way to survive this— i know how to swim!!! (he does not.) still, little bro jumps.

back to big bro. the boys' parents have realized the situation, they tell him to go, big bro saw lil bro jumps and knows tht HE CANNOT FUCKING SWIM!!!! he jumps.

he ends up seeing all three other kids in the water, slowly but surely manages to bring all three of them to land on the beach bc none of the others fucking knew how to swim, apparently. but theyre alive and thats good. he also saves this small, runt drowning rabbit.

the other two kids soon wake up and disappear who knows where to, when pov is back to lil bro. he sees the rabbit next to him and thinks omg so cute!! the rabbit wanders off to go eat this. Lettuce, except this lettuce species looks kinda as if it grew... shredded?? lettuce grass??? wahtever its just really thin.

anyways rabbit eats its fill, falls asleep in the grass. lil bro also falls asleep, its sunny, theyre tired, big bros watching over them, all good. WHEN A MAN SHOWS UP TO WHERE THE BROTHERS AND RABBIT ARE LYING DOWN.

turns out its the farmer who grew that lettuce!! he gets mad, sees the rabbit and goes "ohh im gonna cook that thing!" or whatever, big bro is like "nonono please wait!" so farmer pauses, sees the rabbit lying there... single tear rolls down his cheek...

"damn sonny u right. hes just like me... all he wants is a lil peaceful rest to lay in the grass and sunshine... take a lil nap.... yeah. what do you say we go back to my place and make some salad for all three of you?"

so they all go back, farmer carries sleeping lil bro and big bro carries rabbit. big bro finally realizes to think about thier PARENTS IN A BARNHOUSE WITH SOMEONE WHO EXPRESSED MURDER DESIRES and its implied yeah theyre probably dead. then he remembers the other kids who escaped with him through the window.. cuz remember, they ran off right?

as soon as he goes to ask about them tho, the kids pop up from behind a building!! "sorry for following you, we just cant find our parents didnt know where to go and that rabbits really cute can we pet him?" farmer is now making salad for a rabbit and 4 soaked children. their parents are probably murdered tho. but all is good! i wake up

-OHHH the aliens new ship design looks Interesting. I see theyre just floating outside of Earth instead of some kinda inter-dimensional pocket area like they were in the original? Neat. the ship still looks super sparse, which, is weird imo. I get that on a meta level filling it w objects would take time and budget from the team doing this tho. but also I want to see their personal rooms or whatever. what do they eat. what do they do all day when they arent being menaces. -ik it happened in the original but its still very funny that deep blue basically grounded kish hahah. get grounded loser (affectionate) -ichigo's strawberry bento bag is so cute -ichigo BOOKING IT AND LEAPING A RAILING TO THANK AOYAMA FOR THE HANDKERCHIEF LMAO -and then her just awkwardly clutching his back for a full 30 seconds. EP 8: -my god, showing ichigo's crush on aoyama then mints crush on zakuro directly after. really hammering it home. we GET IT they are IN LOVE. -lettuce scaring the shit out of some punks I am Losing My Mind. the fact dudes like that even walked in this ultragirly cafe…pls -supposedly environmentally minded cafe mew mew goes on a cruise, smth that is notoriously Bad for the Environment. lol -aoyama whipping out those environmental facts on the fly..once again I am saying autistic king. -PUDDINGS SIBLINGS!!! CUTIES. and they gave one of them a sort of personality. thats fun -and her lil sailor hat i am crying shes adorbs -not lettuce being infused with a porpoise and getting seasick awww…poor girl -wait are all the girls (sans ichigo) wearing each others colors in dresses…thats so CUTE I love their dresses -lettuce being SO good with puddings lil siblings further enforces my headcanon that shes a teacher as an adult. fuel for me personally -ichigo u got a MAN ON LAND. getting COZY with shirogane on a BOAT. the scandal. -perhaps the concept of them being from another planet is a lie the trio was told? (I am def thinking too hard abt it. but also why would mew aqua let her see that? ? activity from a non-earth planet?? why does it suddenly have that power??? its MAGIC WATER.) -oh my god the underground/cave cities!!! fucking line up with my fanfic/headcanons!!! EP 12: -oh my god, in the og anime kish broke her phone, which is BAD, but this time, a chimera ATE IT??? THATS SO MUCH WORSE IMO. at least with the broken phone most companies have insurance, u could prob easily get a new one!! how do u explain a MONSTER ATE UR PHONE. -god damn kish still is a lil crazy huh. i love that and respect it. itd be boring if he was nice but up until now he rly hasnt been a Huge Menace. but some of the faces hes made so far this ep. THE S O N G. A slowed version, too!! NOPE. i am weeping. I just got hit by 40000 tones of nostalgia -they didnt have to do this to me. AGH -PLEASEE MY GOD I CANT HANDLE THIS. THEYRE SO SWEET. SO TENDER. he 100% saw her ears and was being polite by covering them. -NOOO HES CRYING TOO. THEYRE SO CUTE. HE DOESNT EVEN PRESS FOR AN EXPLANATION EITHER. -and a deep blue tease! ok! kind of expected as much. OOF THOUGH that my sweetheart got me so good im still reeling. the girls mustve lost their minds when they heard that. im girls.

-overall thoughts:

-VERY good!!! there were times the animation got wonky, but that happened many times in the og anime too, so. eh. this one at least kept mostly stylistically similar, whereas in the og the faces style could change WILDLY ep from ep. this one was more like, quality changes from scene to scene but still roughly the same style. which is fine, I know how budget and time restraints are. its Understandable.

-there were other things I def liked better in the og, too, like the outfits n transformations, but the colors here were amazing, the costume colors esp worked super nice when all the girls were in the same shot, they looked awesome together!

-I love that each girl will assumedly get a turn w the mew aqua rod! and it changes color to suit each one!

-I loved the OST. So Much. def gonna have to listen to each song again

-and all of the masago moments were REALLY cute. idk, ppl who know me know I love them both a lot in the og anime and the ship. but this one, it rly felt like they let aoyama be more..shy?? I guess?? it was CUTE. also he was a damsel far more, which was also cute. really, I love Strong Catgirl GF and Awkward Normie Shy BF. (normie for NOW. season 2 when)

-the pacing was nice (I do like the og animes fillers, but I can do w/out them! it still felt fleshed out enough! things happened at a really nice pace when u watch back to back, not sure how it wouldve felt waiting a week between and digesting them more?)

-I didn't super love the changing of the aliens backstory from earth to some rando planet, or masha being the mew aqua rod?? or something?? but those are SUCH minor nitpicks honestly.

-I loved how scheme-y the girls got together. their friendship is so sweet and the best thing from the show for me. mint being the og and ichigo not being like, The Leader (yet?) but all of them feeling pretty equal standing is Nice. they rly seem like real friends and I love just. how supportive they all are of each other!! I rly do feel like they work so well together by the end of the season as a team.

-im glad they kept the animation pretty silly and let the girls make goofy funny faces!!! like, they were still cute/pretty in a lot of shots, but they kept the Silliness and Antics at a Max Level. they felt their age if that makes sense. I appreciate that

-like I KNEW what would happen, but the OST and lighting/color schemes on a lot of the scenes made me like. Genuinely Feel Panicked or Excited!!! (of course I was excited to watch)

-my god 'my sweetheart' got my blood PUMPING HEART RACING AT THE END I COULDNT BELIEVE IT. AAAAH!!!

-when is season 2 I need it NOW!!! Im still glad I waited to watch, bc now I have fanart to go thru :3 and I didnt have to wait to watch the next ep, waiting for s2 is gonna HURT. I want it SOON.

okay. i gotta get serious abt losing weight again. like its getting back to the point i feel uncomfortable in some of my clothes again, especially my bras. so im gonna start doing nightly journal entries taking abt what i ate today, any exercise i did, how i felt, and what my plans for the next day are. if i count calories or purge ill put that here too.

ill start them all w the date and tag them all "#shellys day" so u can black list that if u want. i know i havent reblogged pics in a while but ive just been in such an awful binging cycle and also getting most of my th1nspo from insta lately

anyway

today was really bad. i went to work decided on panda express for lunch. i always get kung pao chicken (290), chow mein (510), and some crab rangoons (190), so for lunch i had about 1,000 calories. it wasnt even very good and even tho i was full half way through i ate the whole thing anyway cuz im a disgusting pig. i spend the rest of my shift at work wishing i had got some poke instead so naturally even tho i wasnt hungry i stopped and got poke after work. i have no idea how many calories are in it, i at least get the poke salad option so theres just lettuce instead of rice but it was still way too much and again even tho i was full half way thru i made myself eat the rest. i also got some fried rice balls cuz im a fucking cow and decided to really make myself feel worse than i already did. after i ate i just laid down and kept feeling worse and worse til i went to throw up like maybe an hour or an hour and a half after eating. i still have two rice balls left i really want before i go to bed. i dont have any more easy high calorie foods left in the house other than the cookies my dad made but hopefully hell give those away to friends before i binge on them. im gonna try to do better tomorrow. im gonna go to the gym with my dad in the morning if i can make myself get up in time. im also supposed to see one of my partners tomorrow evening and he always orders taco bell super later at night so i know ill end up eating something there but if i can have a little discipline itll be the only thing i eat tomorrow. then starting saturday night after whatever i eat w my partner im gonna start a 36 hour fast. im gonna allow liquid calories but nothing crazy, just its ok to put a little creamer in my coffee or a spoon of sugar in my tea i mean. if i mess up im gonna restart til i make it thru the fast. once i make it thru im gonna go back on a low-carb diet and focus on protein and veggies again. carbs are always my downfall. once i start on pasta and potatos and bread and sugar i always ruin my diet and start binging on everything. maybe ill make more balerina soup again. idk but im gonna fix this. my current achievable goal is to lose 20 lbs by december. if i can lose about 2 lbs a week i can do that. i just gotta focus and stop binging. i can let myself have a cheat day every now and then when im w my friends or a partner but i have to stop rewarding myself with food and overeating when im depressed.

I got a new houseplant today!!! It’s an umbrella tree, and it’s adorable. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that it’s super toxic to cats (I had one before, but it was while I was in college, so I didn’t need to worry about pet friendliness), so I have to keep it on a high shelf and make sure our two boy cats stay out of my room since they’re the ones that eat plants 😅 (they’re already banned from my room because they like to munch my plants; Bunchy is a good girl and doesn’t consume my leafy children)

#max actually more goes after fish when i have them then plants even #but he does like plants #he also eats lettuce #loki prefers dried plants but also likes flowers #we had an african violet on our kitchen windowsill for a while but it never had any flowers and also coincidentally loki wasn’t eating much #and would throw up every few days and we were like ??? and then we caught him eating the plant #he also once ate the entirety of a baby (like 2 little 3-inch leaves) aloe vera plant that i had after breaking into my room #but those aren’t toxic so he was fine #he also ate sunflower seedlings i was trying to start a few years ago #his favorite is dried kale and spinach tho #he goes crazy for the stuff #we dehydrate it ourselves in a dehydrator and he spends the day or two that it takes just #circling the floor under the counter where we put the dehydrator #it’s actually to the point where we get the dehydrator out and he starts going crazy and just... crying for the dried kale/spinach #and we’re just like sir it’ll be a few days yet but here’s some fresh stuff #sorry i went on a ramble there but our cats are weird and i love them but i also love my plants so i just have to watch out for loki #fortunately he knows he’s not supposed to be in my room and i keep my door closed to protect the plants #but sometimes he’ll sneak in if he sees it open so i have to make sure to block it when i go out because it doesn’t latch so it opens p easy #chit chat #asked and answered #claire’s tag

armin is always freezing (this is so relatable tho). like his hands are always so cold to touch. hes always wearing socks. always bringing a jacket with him (even a slight sweater in the summer, incase you "go inside and theres air conditioning on!!!") he is always wearing layers lol he is just a cold little guy

this could go with him being cold but i also think he has anxiety so he sleeps w a weighted blanket <3 he likes the pressure on top of him, it soothes him and feels like a hug <3 when u guys begin dating he finds himself using it less, as he'd prefer you to lay on him instead or vice versa

i feel like he has a really sensitive stomach LMFAO so i feel like he eats pretty healthy and clean. makes you guys salad a lot but he knows how to make it good!!! like it doesn't just taste like lettuce and veggies, he adds nice stuff to it to give it interesting flavors or themes! is most definitely lactose intolerant so he stays away from dairy and cheese 😩😩 when you guys get coffee he gets his w oat milk

loves harry potter!!! def went through a phase as a kid where we binge-read all of the books and watched the films. OBSESSED. knows all of tiny details like the spells, curses, and quidditch terminology. says he's a ravenclaw but is a big fat SLYTHERIN lol

i've said this before but his favorite flavor of ice cream is mint chocolate chip (BC HE HAS TASTE!) he likes how its fresh and minty but also sweet! its the only food he makes the occasional exception for w his lactose intolerance LMFAO

i feel like his love language (giving, not receiving) is gift giving!!! he absolutely adores randomly giving you little tiny gifts he sees when he's out shopping. he sees your favorite candy when he's checking out at cvs and picks it up for you. he sees a pair of socks with cartoon images of ur favorite animals so he has to get them for you??? he especially likes making you a gift, like if its a little bracelet/necklace he beaded together or a rock he found at the beach and painted. he hands it to you like a 4th grader with their art project like 😁😁

he is such a little gossiper omg. people think he is so cute and sweet and innocent, so they just blindly trust him with information??? he's learned to go along with it and use it to his advantage. he knows everything about everyone LMFAO he comes home and hes like "babe you will never guess what i found out about ____ today" and ur like omg how do you know that?? and he just shrugs and is like "oh, their best friend told me" HUHHHHH?

oouh :oo i shall try explain .. . ok. so the theory basically was that, via some sort of folktale-y nature god magic, caduceus is connected to the health of the savalirwood. it started, i think, when the level 10 art got released and cad looked notably more unhealthy than the previous art (i think this was just bc the artist drew him more accurately in the level 10 art.. he’s not rly thin in th first art and doesnt look that tall sjskj its a nice artwork tho!) and also, his hair was turning white. . and people were like wtf what happened.. (turns out his hair was losing colour because of the lichen growing on him, that dyes his hair, wasn’t getting enough sun while in the tunnels and in rosohna.. but we didnt know that then.)  from what i remember, the evidence at the time was: - cad is described as unhealthily thin, and stays that way even after leaving the grove, so its not just from being alone without food (i watched a talks machina ep not long ago where tal explained it as him being "a vegan on a roadtrip" n therefore having not much to eat apart from like... lettuce lol)  - cad basically having an ecosystem growing on him.. the lichen is also only from the grove. so people took that as him being made by the forest/god in a strange way, or maybe being a changeling, like his parents found him from the forest. that or he was poisoned by it as a young child.. and so the lichen getting suddenly unhealthy was weird - cad is paler (and maybe smaller?) than the rest of his family (tal said so in a talks ep, idk which one though.. see this is why people who make timestamped lists are big brained) who all seem to have naturally pink hair, except his father who married into the family, who's hair is grey. cads natural hair is white. his aunt’s hair is also white/greying but its because she’s vry old. i think matt said hers and cads hair looked about the same, in the episode (96) the clays were introduced i think..  - there was also a point about the blight reaching the grove at the same time cad was born.. between 80-100 yrs ago, but i cant find where this info was from tbh.. the corruption started centuries before so .. ??. . this was all way before we knew anything about the savalir being connected to the arboretum and aeor (which, i love that plotpoint so much. its.. a little annihilation-esque, sorta makes me think of the toxic forests from nausicaa . .. love it sm.)

anyway it got disproven and said in episodes and on talks machina that cads hair changed because the lichen didnt have sunlight and it was whats dyeing cad’s hair, like how flamingos are pink from eating the foods they eat :-3  it was still so good tho and perhaps ill think of au things. ..
