i’ve seen some people say that if Gale was in the arena with Katniss, and it got down to the two of them, that he would try to kill her. And although i don’t like Gale, i have to defend him on this one because i feel like he would absolutely not kill her in that situation.

I don’t think Gale actually loved Katniss in a romantic way, but he definitely cared for her a lot and did love her platonically, so in this situation i think he would let her be the one to go home. He knew Prim and her mother needed her, and yes his family also needed him, but Hazelle didn’t have a breakdown (as far as we know) like Katniss’ mother, so she was still running the house, they wouldnt need Gale in the way Katniss’ family needs her. If Gale had died and Katniss went home, obviously Katniss would hunt and bring the Hawthorne’s game (and vice versa) but Prim and her mother COMPLETELY rely on Katniss, and Gale knows this. So no Gale would not kill her, he would let her go home.

love it when a character that's hard to read intuitively for you has like a dedicated fandom interpreter who can just glance at their blank face in a panel and then give you a 3k word essay on their innermost thoughts & desires & fears and neatly tie it back into the themes & whatnot as if it's the most obvious thing in the world

Something that really bothers me about the rose coloured glasses vis a vis tellius and fe fans (ESPECIALLY from 3h fans who learned about tellius later) is that many like soren purely because of his main ship (i mean i like ikesoren too but come the fuck on) and jokingly characterise soren as a stereotypical nasty mean limp wristed sarcastic gay man instead of a deeply flawed branded angry at the world and definitely trauma bonded to ike, but micaiah is still absolutely getting raked over the coals over the blood pact and not being ike’s fangirl

Well,

Jokes often involve flanderisation, so Soren being flanderised to oblivion when people joke about him isn't something I really care about, but maybe that's because I'm not really fond of Soren to begin with lol

What annoys me more is when some people try to rationalise Soren's anger and backstory by either pointing at Almedha or Deghinsea being responsible for everything, and I'm like, what.the.fuck?

Almedha's just, idk, I won't call it sexism, but damn - that woman loves her son who is the only reason why she hasn't completely lost her mind over 1/losing her powers 2/being casted away like trash by her "BF" 3/being rejected by her dad 4/thinking her brother was tortured and abused to death because of her actions 5/being separated from her beloved child.

Deghinsea being "uwu bad bcs he's the reason why brandeds are rejected by both beorcs and laguz" is another take I really am not fond of, and iirc I wrote a post earlier this year about it? But to some people who buy the "Crusts BaD" as the reason why Fodlan sucks, I guess they need to have someone to name and pill all of the world's nonsense rather than, well, in Tellius' case, realise that the worldbulding and the lore really sucks, to the point where the duology touted as the most "against racism" of the franchise, is pretty much way more racist than anything Tru Piss can throw us (yes, because in Tru Piss we have characters rejecting coexistence, in Tellius, it's the world mechanics - whenever a Beorc and a Laguz coexist too much, the Laguz dies...).

As for Miccy,

Just like, imo, Soren gains some "new" attention and "uwu excuses for why he's being a snarky jerk at times", Miccy used to be bashed when FE10 was released (with all the Mary Sue accusation being thrown around!) because she was written to be a sort of foil/antagonist to Ike, and when the party reunited, she was demoted to a "soul-jar" role, let it be regarding the greater plot, or, even, her own backstory!

TBH, for people who didn't play FE10, if Ike is the bestest thing since melted cheese, Miccy, who opposes him, must be BaD and so you can pile everything you don't like on her, hoping to see it stick.

Or even worse, I've seen posts here and there comparing Miccy to Supreme Leader and how misunderstood uwu she is, which is the worst insult poor Miccy ever received since FE10 came out rofl

dorcas meadowes and sirius black are the anti hero marauder characters.

#if you're wondering why regulus isn't here. i shall explain my decision. #right so. an anti hero is a character who does good but has un- heroic like traits #an anti hero focuses on personal motivation above a sort of greater good. #and is generally disliked/on the outs with the clearer hero/villian characters #dorcas is on a clear side of good. but the way they go about it isn't that moral #they kill practically hundreds of people (bad people) out of more anger and grief than anything else #dorcas could be classed as a hero with more villianous qualities (acting on more selfish desires/careless about people they hurt) #sirius comes from a family of more villian characters but runs towards good #his intentions are some 'for the greater good' and just. to rebel. #they tend to act selfishly and impulsively and make bad choices #sirius strives to be a hero but his trauma and intentions land them in anti hero #whereas regulus. #he (unlike sirius and dorcas) isn't on/striving for good. #he is a very neutral character that is trapped in a villianous world #an anti hero actively does both good and bad. an anti hero thinks firstly of themsevles #regulus doesn't. his good deed is stealing the horcrux. his bad deed is joining the death eaters. #he does do both good and bad. but that just lands him as a neutral character. a morally grey victim. a complacent rebel. #dorcas and sirius do good things with bad intentions and bad things with good intentions #whilst regulus does a bad thing and a good thing. and so on. which cancels each other out. making him neutral. #marauders era #marauders #sirius black #dorcas meadowes

i get why people would opt to say walter was a terrible person since the beginning, but i think that's like, the most boring takeaway you can get about his character. he was already insecure and prideful from the start, and it's what would hurt him and keep hurting him. but like, being insecure and prideful are regular traits any regular person can have. the actions that he makes because of these traits, which in turn keep fueling his ego more and more, are what makes him an interesting character. and he was already pretty capable of hurting other people, but he wasn't doing it out of malice, but more because of careless selfishness at first. what makes walter terrifying is that the more he does it, the more he becomes aware of what he's doing, and the more he keeps going and keeps being more and more meticulous and deliberate about what he does that hurts people and even to the point when it was specifically to hurt people.

i think the traits were there in walter from the beginning—the pilot did a pretty good job of establishing how powerless he's felt all his life and just how susceptible he is to letting this newfound perceived power get to his head so easily. he even says this explicitly in 5x06 "Buyout" when he tells jesse "i'm not in the money business, i'm in the empire business". but saying he was this monster from the start kind of implies he didn't undergo through a character arc throughout the show when it's quite literally what he did. he got worse. so much worse. through mostly the fault of his own fragility.

#idk if i put it into words right but i'm just musing #was walter a good person when brba started? up in the air. but his family genuinely adored him. despite feeling like a loser teacher #some of his coworkers actually really liked and respected him. he was just as much of a regular person as anyone else was tbh #you know it's interesting that he and gale basically have the same motivations. why jump to meth of all things. why go from 0 to 100 when #it sounds COMPLETELY ridiculous. but they were both very passionate about chemistry who felt like their potentials were wasted and felt #like they were finally putting their skills to good use again. getting to flex their muscles and shit. whenever they cook better purer meth #than most other people. i think it's a really genius idea to have this premise for the show lol #cz as much as walter is motivated by him feeling like he desperately has to take control of his own life he also is a scientist at heart #who desperately needs to apply his knowledge and skills somewhere where it would feel gratifying #seriously dude you could've tried to get a paper published or two or something. djhdidhd #but the academe has its own Politics and whatnot. so one could only speculate why walt didn't get to pursue that any more #(aside from the whole grey matter industries thing) #anyway uhhh i hope i get the post across lol not to sound cheesy cliche but brba is a corruption slash character deterioration arc #quite literally the whole point is that he Didn't Start Off Like This And He Gets Worse #again. he already had some of his bad tendencies and traits but it's like. we all do that's not necessarily inherently make or break #it's what he DOES and KEEPS DOING. I am in love with your link between Links Hyrule. He's just the cutest, sweetest thing and the character design is immaculate. The details on his wings are so intricate and gorgeous, and I don't care if his hair is "weird," it looks good on him!
