the worst part is that i’m pretty sure i’m lying when i say i’m 5’9. once i hit 5’8 i literally stopped measuring my height. i definitely grew more. i don’t acknowledge it. told everyone i was 5’8 for years. one night at a party i played in a drinking game and drew a card that said ‘everyone shorter than you drinks’ so i said “i’m 5’8” and i was roasted within an inch of my life. immediate outcry from every single person in the room. got called everything from Big Bird to the Green Giant to Ginormica. since then i always say i’m 5’9

i think the distinction is that they were reacting to people hcing carver as really tall, presumably as in hcs that he is like six foot plus. i don’t think anyone is saying 5’10 is short, just not really tall. i consider it maybe a hair taller than average, i think 5’9 or 5’10 is the average male height where i live?
