it was not as i hadn't put it anywhere concrete into the outline since I was waiting on someone to ask him about it that was close enough to him that he wouldn't shoot them down (partly why Nast was gonna be his friend)

It was a reminder to himself not to forget about Tial I believe. Since Madness could suppress memories, he had to fight for them and kept the reminder in case he started to forget.

A cold, autumn night swept the cityscape. Passerbys enjoyed the spooky ambience becoming of ornate decorations inside the street-lined shops. Kids with curious eyes lit up seeing this year’s popular costumes of choice, the life-like statues of plastic gargoyles perched above doorways, and of course, limited run editions of their favorite Halloween candy. No matter where you went, the smell of cinnamon and pumpkin spice tickled your senses. 

No one escaped it. A holiday of this caliber was one celebrated across the globe. 

Even to those believed to not exist. 

Stories of the supernatural spread far and wide when the time for spooks and pranks came around yet again. Children being kidnapped in the night by a monster hiding under their bed, horror movie celebrities and murderers rumored to have been spotted in prohibited areas, and ghosts passing through the mortal world to scare humans until they dropped dead. Halloween was a time for autumn’s blessings, but for some...

....it was the perfect opportunity for tricks, not treats. 

Miles away from the light of the town’s bustling commotions, something stirred. The woods all but quiet, albeit the occasional chirp of summer’s fleeting sounds or night creatures stalking their dinner. A clearing was where something...or someone...found themselves. No memory of their arrival, or even how they got here, except for the haunting words of a poet’s last message. 

Two fiery, red eyes burned bright beneath a carved helmet. The creature’s own head appeared to be shaped like a pumpkin, moreso a jack-o-lantern gutted out to be used as a holiday-themed lighting implement. Their jagged smile, permanently fixed but showing hints of a mischievous nature. Gloved hands lacked any attached limbs, yet still moved freely without worrying about any muscles or ligaments. And in one of those hands was a fixed lantern, a flame burning white and hot. 

 “Heeehooo, heeehoooo...where did they all go??”

 There were others with them, last time their memory worked right. The darkened clearing held no sign of their arrival, only a chilly wind and unsettling silence. The small creature floated further, navigating well beneath the forest’s canopy. Avoiding any threats below was their best option, until their pointed hat peeked atop the edge of the woods. 

Lights. Bright, but far away. 

Which could only mean....

“I sense mortals a-plenty! Heehee hooo! Am I truly free to do as I please? What fun it will be when they can’t see me, hee hoo~!”
