Help a Fellow Simmer

Howdy, folks!

I was working on an updated version of this mod for my game, but with fizzy drinks from TS4 Eco Living.

I ran into an issue where the recolors are not "linked" wherein if they pull from the green recolored 6 pack, they'll always get the main file's blue texture.

Is there a tutorial or a knowledgeable modder that can help me out? I'll pay you in gratitude :D

Split-level Apartments

Has anyone ever successfully built split-level apartments in TS2?

I've built lots of apartments! I kinda think I "know what I'm doing" when it comes to building things in TS2. But I just can't make this new apartment build of mine rezone to apartments! Grrrrr.

It has to be because of the split-level stairs. I'm pulling my hair out over it.

I know the inner doors are all out of their walls... I was sealing up every exterior point. The garages are not accessible from inside the apartments right now. And it still doesn't work! HELP!!!

Hi! Question: I'm looking for a mod that may or may not exist. When a Sim ages up to teen or when a teen/(young) adult Sim is spawned, the game randomly rolls a hairstyle for them. Sometimes I change their hairstyle to something else. But when they age up to young adult/adult/elder, they will revert back to the randomly rolled hairstyle. This is true for both active and inactive Sims, despite the changed hair being available for their new age. Do you or does anyone know if a fix for this exists?

Hmmm...to be honest I haven't come across a mod like that, so sorry if I can't provide a direct answer. 🥺

What I can do, at least, is to pass it on anyone who knows better. I hope someone knows where to find it..🙏

I'm onto something: My first 4t2 download. It's a tree for @lamare-sims and @tvickiesims planting overhaul. But something is off with the mesh?! It already looks quite nice from above. But from the side the leaves disappear. Did I do something wrong? In Blender you can see the leaves from all sides (but they are transparent?).

I'm new to extracting Sims 4 meshes and a bit overwhelmed.

Question for my fellow Sims 2 players...

On the Sims 2 Default Database, in every age group under Career/Work Outfits, there is this outfit. It has several default replacements which are all lovely.

However, I've just been testing all of the work outfits in the game and this doesn't appear as any of them (not even Medicine).

I'm stumped - what is this outfit for and when does it appear in the game?

Looking for help with big 3t2 tree project!

Hi, hello.

Do you love the trees in TS3? Have you been sad that they're not available for TS2? Well, I've got good news for you: I think I can convert them . . . I just need help.

Here's proof: three trees from Midnight Hollow!

Do you know how to fiddle with tree meshes? Or make them seasonal? If so, please keep reading below, I'd love to collaborate with you! (I posted a help request on GOS, but I thought I'd post here too).

The technical nitty-gritty: Right now, I use an older version of TSR Workshop to export them as speedtree files (.spt) and then I've converted them to .fbx and then finally imported them to Blender for editing and exporting as .obj. The issue is that because these are dynamic speedtree creations, the export creates an almost 2D version of the tree with the leaves and branches all facing one way. If you rotate the tree mesh, it's completely naked from the other side (but usually the trunk is fully 3D).

So in the UV mapper screenshots below, you can see the "front" of the 3t2 tree vs. the "back" (I use quotations since these are just arbitrary directions) and I included a shot from the top-down so you can see how one-sided everything is.

Right now, my solution has been to copy + paste the leaves meshes three times at 90 degree angles to give the illusion of a full tree. In the pic below, the tree now looks more "full," but in the top-down view you can see that I've just made a bunch of boxes and majorly increased the polycount. It's not a very elegant solution.

So, do you have any thoughts about how to make this sort of mesh look like a nice, full tree? Are you an expert in making plants seasonal? Are there trees in TS3 that you've been pining for? I'd love to hear from you!

I'm also happy to share the .obj files if anyone wants to try fiddling with the meshes themselves--just DM me.

Hello guys I'm sorry if I'm currently unable to post updates.

Right now I'm busy with work.

I'm also trying to set up my own company/consulting firm. It's a digital marketing firm and we will offer social media services, email and calendar management, project management, etc... Setting it up is a slow process because I also have to work full-time as I do it. I already have a team and some of the basics. I just need a few more things and I'll be set up. Currently, one of the difficulties I'm facing is funding.

My aim is to establish my own consulting firm so I can have more free time to do what I want while still having a decent amount of income. Since I'm also currently a single mom, the fact that I'm always too busy with work constantly weighs down on me. I hope to spend more time with my son. And this is why I have to succeed with the firm no matter what.

That being said, I would like to ask for the support of my Sims 4 community. I hope to raise money to fund my firm.

Hi Nikki! First off, I'd like to thank you for your contributions to our sims games, you've made so many of my 4t2 wishes come true! I was wondering if you had the old (pre Dec22 update) meshes for AM, TM and EM EP10 sweater mock neck? I replaced them with the new ones, only to realize I really liked that loose fit. Could you share them if you still have them handy? If you don't (or don't like them to be available anymore), that's perfectly fine, too.

I'm sorry, @plumbbobtoggled! I don't have them anymore (I even looked back into my workshop archive and other save files), but I'm sure someone kept them around and will provide the meshes

My converted object from TS4 looks fine in TSRW but in game it looks weird. The glass seems to have this weird gap on one side. Any ideas what settings to tweak? A big thanks to anyone who can answer..🙏🙏🙏

HALP: solved!

EDIT: solved! It was a dress I had recategorized in SimPE by another creator, and I have entered the category number into the wrong line, resulting in a widespread error. Fixed thanks to the amazing @goingsimcrazy​! huzzah! 

Er... something is wrong. I opened BodyShop and all my AF full-body models are completely white?? Details below. 

DETAILS: 

- this is happening to my YAF/AF model only  - it doesn’t appear on the top + bottom sections for each clothing category. Only the full body ones.  - I haven’t done a single thing differently  - happens with all default skintones  - appears fine in-game but the sim’s display picture/thumbnail still shows the white 

Does anyone know what’s going on? Has my game forgotten skintones or something? HALP.
