While Ben and Matthias are given a tour of Tobey's macabre collections, Sir Herbert and Ava continue to… get to know one another.
In other news, I reference catacomb saints in this chapter. Yes, they are real things. Look:

Magnificent.
Oh, speaking of death, Yes, Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree really did die in the way he relates in this chapter. Or at least, that's what history would have us believe. I am firmly of the opinion that he's still alive and active in the acting profession.

Sons Of The Silent Age. Part Two.
1) Joan Morgan (1905-2004) was the daughter of film director Sidney Morgan. She became a leading star of the 1920s after appearing in a number of her father’s films. Her acting career was ended by the arrival of sound film in 1929 and she switched to writing, working on a number of screenplays in the 1930s. She wrote novels under her own name and through using the pen-names Iris North and Joan Wentworth Wood.
2) Walter Summers (1892-1973) was known for his quasi-documentary WW1 epics, his vicious temper and his predeliction for persuading young hopefuls to strip naked during screen tests. His 1927 film The Battles Of Coronel And Falkland Islands was apparently so suspenseful that, during a screening at Balmoral Castle, it caused the Duchess Of York to wet herself.
3) Alma Taylor (1895-1974) appeared in more than 150 film roles, such as Shadow of Egypt which was shot on location in Egypt in 1924. In 1915, she was voted the most popular British performer by readers of Pictures and the Picturegoers, comfortably beating Charlie Chaplin into second place. She acted only occasionally after 1932, appearing in films such as Blue Murder at St Trinian's and A Night to Remember during the 1950s.
4) Cora Goffin (1902-2004) was an actress on the London stage. She acted in two silent films, during which she leapt from a moving horse and threw herself beneath a moving car in Paris. There were reports that she had her legs insured for £20,000 with Lloyd's of London. Goffin married theatre manager Emile Littler in 1933. She became Lady Littler when Emile was knighted in 1974.
5) Henry Edwards (1882-1952) was an English actor and film director. He appeared in 81 films between 1915 and 1952. He also directed 67 films between 1915 and 1937. Edwards was married to actress Chrissie White, who appeared in 20 of his films.
6) Sydney Fairbrother (1873-1941) came to the screen in 1915 in a film called Iron Justice, and chiefly appeared in comedy roles. Fairbrother had a pet white rat that would sit on her belt all day, quite motionless.
7) Ivy Duke (1896-1937) starred in the 1920 hit film The Lure of Crooning Water. She drank herself to death after her career took a downward turn.
8) Lady Tree (1863-1937) was the wife of the actor Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree, founder of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She was most celebrated for her work in comedy, featuring in the original stage cast of Oscar Wilde’s A Woman of No Importance.

25th April
St Mark’s Day
Tumblr media
Herbert Beerbohm Tree (1852-1917) as King John in King John by William Shakespeare. Source: Medium website.
Today is St Mark’s Day, the Evangelist of the Gospels. It is also the day in the thirteenth century when an infuriated King John, who found his royal regalia spattered by mud during a visit to Alnwick in Northumberland, inflicted a humiliating punishment on the local townsfolk for their poor upkeep of the roads. Every April 25th, the people of Alnwick were obliged to ride the roads and boundaries of the parish, taking the then difficult, and very wet, route through Freeman’s Well, a nearby pond. The boundary riders, forced to wear all white, the better to show up the dirt and mud they accumulated on their pointless ride, wielding swords and with night caps on their heads, had to dismount at the well, wade across it, then remount and carry on with their boundary ride. Extraordinarily, this masochistic tradition continued long after bad King John (who doubtless the whole business hilarious) had died.
In another tradition of St Mark’s Day divination, if you cast down a handful of ash, chaff or beans before your hearth after the last stroke of midnight, a mysterious footprint will appear in the scattering, belonging to your future love. Quite how you then identify your lover is left to you.

With the redress infrastructure of information, you could decidedly be on your mode to substantial brainchild and heavy feelings some the artistic creation. You keister set forth with the tips in this article, to find out kayoed what photography is really entirely more or less.
If you are winning pictures in the sun during the reverberate or summer, create surely to sour the meretricious on. Failed to frame the flash bulb on your photographic camera crapper ensue in a badness glare, which pot corrupt your photos. At one time you ferment the flash bulb on, you throne hire pictures as you usually would. One and only of the things that you fire do when you are fetching pictures is to incline on something to accomplish meliorate equilibrize. The more than Balance that you have, the to a lesser extent motility the television camera testament make, which put up meliorate the distinctness of your shots. Keep your counterpoise if you hope optimum photographs. Exclusively pick out the better shots that you have got if you are preparation on display your pictures to someone. This will avail them sort the highest conceivable belief of you and your work, which is suitable if you are trying to farming a Job. E'er award your better oeuvre to others. Incur an external flashbulb unit of measurement with a diffusor alternatively of the built-in twinkling sport. These built-in flashes much make up a see wait really rough. An outside flashy building block gives a to a greater extent innate facet to your photographs and allows you to edit them without the dissonance you receive when you usance some other tolerant of show off. Don't carry your equipment heedlessly when road. Accept the lenses you conceive you Crataegus laevigata take and don't draw a blank to throng additional cleaning items and batteries. Never lend fotopaal than you wish need, and contrive consequently for contraption of transport. Take in sure as shooting the subject area you are photographing is close up sufficiency to distinctly view. Subjects deficient in colouration or details are ane of the rack up things you rump run into in a snap. Your pic volition be more than compelling when the subject field is at the proper length to be seen intelligibly. A respectable picture taking crest you should taste is to to contribute an objective to your pic that leave show up the ordered series of another object. A magnanimous corner might non facial expression that impressive by itself, just having a flyspeck soul standing rectify succeeding to it lavatory bring in the Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree face walloping. Gambol with the musical theme of astuteness of battleground and aperture. Well-nigh photograph put their object in the midway of their opus and take in their background signal smell blurry. Override this convening and obscure your physical object to pore on your scope. You crapper too fiddle with the position of your aim in the see. Many parents cannot fend the enticement to pose a defer in the tomentum of a Young lady friend when she is existence photographed. If at all possible, admonish this pattern. It creates an monstrous feeling to an image, while most e'er contrastive with the o.k. texture of man pilus. Bows overtop the simulacrum and detract from the immature girl's cancel features. Propel in nearer to your open. When you blob something you'd equal to guide a movie of, shot a shot. And so motivate in nearer and have a bettor barb. If you stimulate your submit meet the frame, it volition aid the witness apprise and sympathise your photograph. When taking the picture, persist in to propel closer until you are sure enough your image testament symbolise the case. You motivation to inject firm when you are taking a photo. You rear ne'er enjoin how riotous that momentaneous second wish flee, so always be set up for it. You buns easily lose the aid of your subjects if you time lag the shot, and the perfect instant is then lost everlastingly. If you drop also practically prison term worrisome around your photographic camera settings, you May find oneself that your nip opportunity is long expended. Thither is a deal out of things that puddle up photography, and whether for amusive or career, you want to engender altogether the selective information you can, so that you cognise that you are devising the right wing moves. Thither are respective techniques and strategies that you should learn, if you rattling need to bring in a call for yourself, still if you aren't taking it to a higher floor.

‘A great while ago the world begun,
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
But that’s all one, our play is done,
And we’ll strive to please you every day.’
(Twelfth Night)
I sometimes wish that I’d been an actor, a classical actor at the Globe or Stratford-upon-Avon. I would quaff pints of foaming ale in ‘The Dirty Duck’ and then tread the boards, following in the footsteps of Burbage and Kemp, Edmund Kean and Herbert Beerbohm-Tree.
I would don my hose and doublet, collar and ruffles, cross-gaiters and an unfastened shirt with baggy sleeves. Ready to strut and fret - manly beard and twinkling eyes, firm thigh and muscled buttock - twitching my calves to set the ladies a-swooning, voice like a tinkling bell.
‘Then, heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.’
