Tumblr media
song: happier - olivia rodrigo
word count: 1.2k
warnings + genre: angst; break-up, just sad vibes throughout to fit the song
pronouns used: she/her
a/n: (◞‸◟;) i haven’t written angst but idk if this was good or not
Everything seemed so perfect. It was almost as if your relationship was the cliché movie. Together for nearly five years now, you had fallen in love with the best person you could've ever met.
The room was filled with the aroma of your cooking. The sunset shining through the window letting the warmth of the day in as it fades into night. You had your favorite playlist playing as you danced around the kitchen.
You carefully finished plating your dinner for you and your boyfriend as you heard the front door open. "I'm home," Akaashi sighed. You smiled as you approached the door to greet him.
"Hi baby, I made dinner," You gleamed.
"I'm not hungry," Akaashi dismissed. With a small frown, you attempt to try again.
"Well, maybe you could just try a little bit? I spent all day cooking us dinner and-" You rambled.
"We need to talk," He cuts you off, looking at you with tired eyes. A sting in your chest rung after hearing those words.
"What's wrong Keiji?" You tilted your head stepping closer, reaching out to touch his chest. He takes a step back before scratching the back of his neck. "Oh..."
"I just...think we should..." Akaashi trailed.
"Should?" You held your hands together, itching for some type of contact.
"We should break up," He said, ripping off the bandaid. Your eyes widened at his voice, not wanting to know why.
"B- but we're fine- why?" You started. "Am I doing too much? Did I do something wrong? Keiji, I can do better- Just why do you-"
"It's not you," He stopped you. "I..."
You felt the tears run down your cheeks. His hand reaches to wipe them off but retracts knowing it's for the better. "But...I thought you loved me?" You sobbed silently.
"There will always be love for you in my heart, I promise, Y/n," He explained. His heart was beginning to ache at the sight of your cries. Akaashi hated seeing you hurt, even more so if he was the cause. "I...I'm falling in love with someone else. I can't put you in a situation where I'm in love with another when I'm with you...I'm sorry."
You remained quiet as Akaashi rambled on trying to explain himself. Words of not wanting to hurt you laced with apologies of finding another. Suddenly the streetlights now illuminating through the blinds were the only thing you could see.
Akaashi dragged on his apologies to you, almost as if it's a chant. He observed how you had fallen silent and tried to reach out for comfort. You looked up at him before looking around the room. Dinner was getting cold, your anniversary photos meaning nothing now and where you stood was where he promised to marry you one day.
"I...I'll get my things out by the end of the week," Your voice cracked. Akaashi stopped his repeated sorry's, his eyes carefully watching you.
"W-wait, y-you're leaving? Y/n, I can leave, it's not your fault. I-" Akaashi started. He watched you walk past him, grabbing your car keys. You slipped on your shoes without a word before turning to leave. Your hand froze at the doorknob as you hesitated to leave. Wiping away your tears, you grabbed the handle, pulling open the door to walk out.
It's been nearly a month since it happened. You had sat at the window seat of the café with your laptop open to your work schedule. You let out a sigh wanting to take a break from the screen. Peering outside you noticed a familiar face. A hyper pro-athlete bouncing around his old third-year friends. You smiled at the sight of Bokuto, wanting to go out and say hi until you saw them.
Akaashi had walked hand in hand with his new girlfriend, smiling bigger than you've ever seen him before. The grin on your face fell taking notice of every bit of his new partner. Picking her apart as if it were a science experiment.
"Damn, that's her?" Your work husband, Souma, says breaking you out of your thoughts.
"Huh?" You say, grabbing the drink out of his hand.
"The girl your ex replaced you with," He said bluntly. You reached beside you and pinched his nose before turning to look back at her. "She's pretty."
"She is...I bet she's nice too," You huffed. You looked back at your laptop, clicking out the tab. "Okay, back to work."
"You do know you're not fooling anyone," Souma leaned over to rest his head on your shoulder. "You can be sad, it's only been a month."
"Yes, I know. I am sad but...I have to be strong right?" You sighed. "He's probably really happy. That's what I want for him."
"But not happier than with you, hm?" He pokes.
"What?" You ask, not peeling your eyes from the screen.
"You know, when you were together, you'd say some eternal love bullshit," He mocked. "What happened to he's the one person who makes you have butterflies in your stomach? And if we ever broke up you'd never recover? That kinda shit."
"He was the one who said shit like that first of all. I guess he never meant it. Souma, can we please stop talking about it?" You started to type out your report. "Yeah, yeah, I'm heartbroken but this project is due tomorrow."
"Okay whatever you say, Ms. Shattered Heart," He lifts up his hands in fake surrender before leaning back into your ear. "Oh, by the way, he's coming into the café." He whispered.
Your eyes widen before shutting them quickly. You take a deep breath, taking the urge to not look at the door. Souma shrugs, wanting to see a bigger reaction before opening his own laptop.
Bokuto leads Konoha, Komi, Akaashi and his girlfriend to the line of the café. "So then, Atsumu ended up- Oh? Y/n!" Bokuto stops his story noticing the back of your head. He steps out of line to tap your shoulder.
"Oh, hi Bo," You turned slowly. "Good to see you...You guys too." You gestured towards the group. Akaashi's previous smile fell once he saw you.
"How are you?" Bo smiled. It took a beat for him to realize how awkward the situation was, making his grin fade.
"Good, good...How are you guys?" You cringed.
"We're...okay," Akaashi said, softly. His eyes took notice of how different you looked. Darker circles under your eyes, your hair messily done compared to your usual do, and just how tired you looked. Almost as if you gave up on taking care of yourself.
"Y/n and I were just leaving-" Souma interrupted. He noticed your hand grip tightly on your chair before speaking up. He closes both your laptops and goes to put them away in his bag. "It was nice seeing you guys, but Y/n and I have some work to do."
You hesitated but nodded along with your coworker as you grabbed your coffee. You gestured to the group once getting out of your seat. The two of you quickly walked out, Souma guiding you to his parked car.
Akaashi's girlfriend excused herself to the restroom, giving him an opportunity. He exits the café, jogging over to you and Souma. "I'm sorry," He pants, stopping a few feet away from you. "Y/n, I'm sorry."
No words left your mouth as you looked up at him. Tears had already fallen from your eyes the second you walked out. Akaashi's chest ached to see you in this state. "Forgive me, I- I'm sorry for hurting you," He begged.
"Take care of her, okay?" You smiled, your heart is torn into pieces once again. "Make her happy."

song: driver’s license by olivia rodrigo
word count: 2.5k
genre + warnings: angst; swearing, fear of driving, reminiscing in old memories
pronouns used: she/her
a/n: this was orignially supposed to just be an imagine inspired by the song, not apart of the song series but it fits too well to not change oikawa’s song. i also wrote this for @kybabi bc i love her :D n e wayz enjoy :) (part 2)
"So here you're going to turn and he'll make you do a parallel park in the street. You remember how to do that right?" Oikawa asked as he guided you to the next turn. As you turn the steering wheel, you spot a crowded curbside.
"No, can you please please park for me? I hate parallel parking," You pleaded.
"Only because you asked so nicely," He teased.
Ever since you told your best friend that you wanted to learn how to drive, Oikawa never let it go whenever you wanted to hang out. Having you drive him around for practice and giving you tips as you went. He's helped you a ton while you drove around, the only issues you had were parallel parking and merging onto the highway.
"Maybe we should try the highway again," Oikawa said after you two switched seats.
"Are you asking for a death wish?" You joked. "I drive too slow and I'm scare to merge into lanes."
"We can practice on smaller freeways if you want," He asks.
"No," You growled.
It was always a terrifying thing to drive on the highway. You always saw those horrid accidents and feared being in one. Oikawa would always put his hand on your thigh as you merged to calm you down. Just having him be there was enough to get you to get onto the highway. All your fears just faded with him beside you.
Just having this intimate driving lesson with him was enough for you. You grew to fall in love in your best friend. A cliché thing, yet you couldn't say anything. Only you and your girl friends knew about your big crush. It was a funny thing, falling for your childhood best friend. Iwaizumi always joked about you doing so but you never admitted to liking Oikawa. What would that do to your friendship?
Today was the day, it was your test day. The scariest thing you anticipated was finally here. The thing you practiced days on end with Oikawa. The thing that could either make or break you. Today, you'd either come out with your license or you'll be walking home.
The nerves crept up your body like spiders leaving a trail of anxiety webs. You bounced you leg as you waited in the lobby looking out for your driving instructor. As your sweaty palms go to check the time, you notice a text message from Oikawa.
butthead: hey! good luck on your test today!
That's what cooled you down. A simple saying of good fortune will help, right? Sure enough, the test was a breeze, minus the parallel parking as it was the one mistake you got. You happily drove home to tell the news to your parents.
"Have you told Tooru yet?" Your mom asked.
"I'll wait until my actual driver license to prove to him I got it," You smiled.
"You like him don't you?" Your mom gestured to the joy on your face. "I can tell."
"No," You looked away from your mom as she raised her eyebrow. "Okay, maybe but you can't say anything. I'm going to my room now." She chuckled as you dragged you feet to your room.
Two weeks passes and you finally received your license in the mail. You smiled happily down at your new card as you walked outside the school building. You looked up to search for your best friend. Your eyes scanned the courtyard before landing on Iwaizumi. Assuming Oikawa was nearby, you headed towards him.
"Hey Iwa, where's Oiks?" You asked. Iwaizumi raised up his hand and pointed across to the gate. You looked over to find Oikawa talking to Kasumi, a classmate of yours.
"He's asking her to go on a date with him again," Iwaizumi says.
Again? He's done it before?
"Are they dating?" You ask.
"Not yet, Oikawa wants to ask her to be his girlfriend on the date," Iwa explains. "What's that?" He points to your hands as you fiddled with the corner of your driver's license.
"Oh," You said solemnly. "I got my license."
You waved goodbye to your childhood friend before going into he parking lot. Without thinking, you started the car and just began to drive. Out of the school and onto who knows where. Your mind grew blank as you drove.
How could he not mention Kasumi to you? He used to tell you everything but lately he'd been so distant. Maybe that's why he hasn't texted you all week, you thought. Who could blame him for liking Kasumi? She's so pretty and not to mention how smart she is. She's the class representative and she's one of the nicest girls around.
You fell for the one man you shouldn't have. It was too late to even confess how you felt. He was already falling for another while you were left behind. You felt a sharp pain in your chest as you drove by familiar buildings.
The laundromat where you and Oikawa would go to help with the laundry. You both would end up messing around and your parents would have to kick you two out. You and Oikawa would go across the street to the convenience store to buy steamed buns.
He doesn't like you.
The library where you would wait for Oikawa to finish practice so you two could study together. He'd bring you a bottle of tea and some sort of snack to keep you from burning out. Those study dates where you'd stay until the library was closed.
Give up, stop thinking of him.
The ramen restaurant where Oikawa would take you if he won a game. It was a great celebration and you two had made so many memories there. You two had gone there so often, he convinced the owner that you were his girlfriend.
Let him go.
All the feelings you had for him began to ache in your heart as you reminisced in the memories. You gripped tighter on the wheel as you saw an highway exit. "Fuck," You whispered as you merged into the fast lane. Suddenly all those fears you had of driving, just disappeared. You felt this peace as your eyes locked on the long highway. It was like, nothing hurt anymore. Your tensed shoulders relaxed, yet you felt tears roll down your cheeks. You took deep breaths as you drove attempting to stop your tears.
Soon enough, driving on the highway had shifted from a phobia to an escape. Everyday after school, rather than meeting up with Oikawa and Iwaizumi before practice, you'd drive on the highway and on backroads. It was the only thing that kept you sane when you see Kasumi with Oikawa together.
You became accustomed to the fast pace of the highways. Occasionally you'd speed if you felt some type of pain grow in your chest. You'd blast music to drown out any thoughts or feelings you had. You knew Oikawa could never be yours, so why bother crying over him, right? The thought of being around him began to make you uncomfortable. If you kept your distance, you wouldn't get hurt. You wouldn't be considered a distraction.
butthead: hey?
you: what's up?
butthead: it's been a while since i've seen you :( i miss my best friend
you: are you sure you mean to text me or iwa?
butthead: you, y/n i miss hanging with you
butthead: you didn't come to the restaurant after our game
you: i was busy, sorry
butthead: :(
you: i gotta go, ill talk to you later
Oikawa sighed at his phone and looked across the table to Iwaizumi. "Have you talked to Y/n lately?" He asked.
"Yeah, she borrowed gas money from me," Iwa says before slurping his noodles.
"Gas money? She got her license?" Oikawa tilts his head. "How long has it been?"
"A month? You got caught up with Kasumi," Iwaizumi says.
"Hmph," Oikawa huffed as he sipped his drink. He'd been spending so much time with Kasumi that he forgot about you. Or was it, you started to forget about him? He glances at the window behind Iwa and noticed a familiar car parking.
You parked your car across the street of the restaurant next to a convenience store. You quickly got out and went into the store looking for something to drink. As you began to scan the fridge, you heard the door open. "Y/n?" You turned to find Oikawa.
"What are you doing here?" You turned back to grab a soda.
"Iwa came to eat with me since you didn't make it," Oikawa says. "He's still there, did you want to join us?"
"No thanks, I'm kinda busy at the moment," You say dully. Oikawa goes to speak but you had already walked to go pay for your drink. "Later Oikawa."
"Oikawa?" He watched as you left the store and into your car. He follows suit and watched you speed off. Oikawa quickly makes his way back to the restaurant and seats himself disgruntled. "Y/n called me Oikawa..."
"That's your name isn't it?" Iwaizumi raised his eyebrow.
"She always calls me Oiks or Ru, never Oikawa," He says. "Did I do something wrong?"
Iwaizumi shrugged even though he knew the answer well enough. After Oikawa had asked Kasumi to be his girlfriend, your demeanor had changed. Iwa was the first to notice too. Typically, after school you'd see the duo before practice started, yet since you learnt Oikawa had eyes for another, you stopped.
One day, Iwaizumi decided to follow after you when school was over. He trailed behind as you walked to your car door. You pulled open the door handle only for Iwa to shut the door immediately after. You turned to find Iwaizumi with scrunched eyebrows. "What's wrong with you?" He asked. "Why haven't you came by before practice?"
"No reason, I'm just busy," You lied.
"Liar, what's wrong?" He asks yet you remained silent. "I won't tell Shittykawa just tell me why you're being so distant...and also why your eyes are always puffy."
You paused before answering, "I'm just...upset with Oikawa...and Kasumi.."
"Do you..?" Iwaizumi implied. You nod and looked at the ground. "What have you been doing since you found out about them?"
"Driving," You sighed. "Just driving...It's keep me off my mind all week. I bear the fact that he looks so happy with her and not...me. God I'm so stupid."
"Don't say that-" Iwa started but you immediately lashed out.
"It's true! I was too late to confess! And I fell for the one boy I can't have!" You felt tears well up in your eyes. "I can't even drive by certain places without getting upset. I take backroads and I avoid them completely. I hate driving by his house but it's the only way to my own. He just treats me like another fucking fan girl! I'm just so stupid for falling for my best friend." Since that day, Iwaizumi kept to his promise. Not word about your feelings were said to Oikawa.
butthead: hey are you busy right now ?
you: no, what's up?
butthead: can you help me with something?
you: depends
butthead: meet me at the library so i can tell you more :)
You locked you phone and tossed it into your passenger's seat. You looked up to see the light change to green, allowing you to speed into the highway. Your hands rested at the bottom of the wheel as you drove. The slow, lo-fi music surrounded your car as you drove which let you get out of your trapped mind.
It was a crazy thought to think that you and Oikawa were so excited to drive together. Yet now all you want to do is drive alone. You turned up the volume of your music as you merged into your neighborhood. You leaned further back into your seat as you were driving around the suburbs. You glance at the white cars lining one street leading to the library. You scoffed at the sight as a repressed memory resurfaced.
"Why do you like white cars so much?" You chuckled.
"Because they look clean and nice? Sorry I don't like your basic silver car," Oikawa raised his hand to block your face.
"I'm basic? Says the one who wants an automatic," You pretend to throw up to mock him.
"For someone who can't drive yet, you talk big," Oikawa pats your head only to be smacked a few seconds late. Oikawa drapes his arm over you as you walked down the street to the library The entire walk was filled with mocking and talking about the future. "Let me teach you how to drive, that way we could go out together more."
You finally arrived at the library, spotting Oikawa before parking the car. He watches as you easily parallel park and is stunned by how casual you are as you drove. You set out and approach him. Oikawa holds out a snack to you but you politely refuse.
"Let's go inside?" He asks. You shrugged and followed him in. Rather than sitting beside him like usual, you sat across from him. You still had those feelings for him but you couldn't stand sitting next to him. Your heart was pounding out of your chest as you anticipated his next words. "I was wondering if you could help me with Kasumi?"
Ouch.
"With what?" You ask.
"I want to give her a gift, right?" He starts. "A gift that goes along with me telling her I love her."
He loves her?
Your heart aches but you decide to move past that. "Isn't it a bit early to say I love you?"
"Well, we were long time friends before we started dating and I feel like it's the right time to, y'know?" Oikawa leans forward on the table. "Can you help me find a gift?"
This feels familiar. Helping him find a gift for a girl that isn't you. It seems like anytime he does have a crush he'd come to you for advice. This is the first time that you didn't want to give into his favors.
"No," You sighed.
"No? Wait why not?" He raised his eyebrows at you.
"Because," Say it. "Because I-"
"Because?" Oikawa tilts his head at your response.
"Because I can't keep doing things like this for you," You stood up and began heading for the entrance. Oikawa followed afterwards as he could see the pain in your voice.
"Y/n, talk to me, we haven't talked in forever. Tell me what's wrong," He says as you exit the library. You ignore his voice and reached for your car door. He grabs your arm but you shove him off.
"Would you just- leave me alone?" You snapped. "I don't want to help you, okay?"
"What did I do?" Oikawa was beyond confused at your response.
"I- You- Ugh! Just go away, I don't want to see you!" Your voice cracked as the suppressed feelings began to rise again.
"Why not!" Oikawa grabbed your arm again, this time you weren't able to break free.
"Because I fucking loved you idiot!" You yelled. Hot tears streamed down your cheeks as you stopped struggling in his hold. Oikawa paused and stared at you in wonder.
"You...loved me?" He asked.
"I still fucking love you! God, I hate you- I just- Let go!" You pulled off him. "I'm leaving. If you try to stop me, I'm never speaking to you again." You wiped your tears as you entered your car. Driving off into the neighborhood, crying at the red lights knowing you could've ruined your whole friendship.
Oikawa watched as you sped off. Those words lingered in his ear as he stared down at his hand where you let go. His mind was lost in thought, how could his best friend love him? Was he that blind that he couldn't see your admiration? "She...loves me?" He thought.

song: streetcar by daniel caesar
word count: 2.6k
genre + warnings: angst to fluff; reminiscing in past heartbreak, breakdowns, timeskips, swearing, someone gets slapped
pronouns used: she/her
a/n: here's part 2 to driver's license,, i hope this was okay >~< i had to include a new song to the mix (its going into the playlist) soooo enjoy :) also my ratio for angst to fluff is TERRIBLE im sorry
Ever since you had confessed your feelings to your best friend, you had became so distant from everyone. Knowing you might've ruined one of the best friendships shook you. Lately you'd been driving around past curfew just to keep your mind off him. Passing all the street lights just felt like you were driving down memories.
That flickering light at the corner where Oikawa had helped you after crashing your bike into a pole. Or that bright cool light by the park where you, Iwa, and Oikawa first started playing volleyball. Or that one littered with stickers where you told both the boys that they better remember you when they were famous.
Apathy overcame your entire being. Nothing seemed to matter anymore, who knew heartbreak could have this effect on a person? It was hard going to school, avoiding Oikawa in every hall, dodging Iwaizumi on your way out, and even trying to ignore Kasumi was too much. It hurt like hell but you didn't want to know what Oikawa had to say. More so, you didn't want to hear what he was going to say, you knew what he'd tell you.
Two months until graduation.
It had been a over a month since that confession. The bright girl everyone used to know dulled out. No one knew why nor how it happened. It only stung between you and the boy you knew you could never love. Oikawa and Kasumi remained together despite the lingering thought of those words you said to him.
"I- You- Ugh! Just go away, I don't want to see you!" The crack in your voice shook those hidden feelings within you.
"Why not!" Oikawa held onto your forearm, restricting you from running away.
"Because I fucking loved you idiot!" You screamed as hot tears rolled down your cheeks. Oikawa froze at your words, unable to process them.
"You...loved me?" He asked.
"I still fucking love you! God, I hate you- I just- Let go!" You shoved him away from you. "I'm leaving. If you try to stop me, I'm never speaking to you again."
Yet, you never spoke to him regardless. The sudden break between you two effected Iwaizumi as well. Although he had no part in the situation, he was torn who's side to take. He knew your secret but he couldn't betray both his best friends. Seeing you two spilt was like watching glass break. It's sudden, scattered, irreplaceable but if you tried to fix it, you could cut yourself or ruin the glass even more.
Oikawa took your last words as your goodbye. What was worse was that, he couldn't bring himself to find the right words to say to you. How could his best friend love him and never tell him? He never did end up telling Kasumi that he loved her. He began to question his feelings about her and well, you.
One more month until graduation.
"Hey Y/n, are you going to the third year dance?" Hanamaki taps your shoulder as you doodle on your notes. You shook your head, knowing well enough how you'd have to see Oikawa and Kasumi together. "Come on, we're all going."
"No thanks," You smiled. A sudden ache in your chest hit you as you looked back at your notes. "I don't like dances."
"Liar," Matsukawa joins into the conversation. "What happened to you?"
"Hm?" You looked up, tilting your head at him.
"Just come along, we'll drive," He suggests. "You don't need a date. Just tag along with he boys and Kasumi."
"Again no thanks," You turned him down. "I'm not on good terms with Oikawa right now. I don't want to see him."
"Well, then let's all four go together then. Me, you, Mattsun, and Iwa," Makki says. "We lowkey miss having you around."
"Yeah, come on, we don't have to go with them," Matsukawa agreed.
"Promise we won't hang around them?" You ask solemnly. They nod at you, prompting you to let out a long sigh. "Fine. I don't have a dress, do you guys want to come with to find one?"
Two weeks until graduation.
You stood in line with the three boys to get inside the ballroom for the dance. You carefully adjusted Matsukawa's corsage that matched your dress. Kasumi and Oikawa had came later, waiting farther back in line. He rests his hand on her waist as he examined the people in line when he spots you. This was the first time in forever since he could see you clearly. He had only caught glimpses of you through the halls, never seeing your face.
Was that the reason the guys didn't want to ride with him? For you? It hit a bit knowing they chose you over him but he knew how you haven't hung out with anyone lately. Always avoiding people, never trying to talk to anyone.
Inside the ballroom, you and the boys sat together at your assigned table. The songs seemed redundant, leaving you four to occasionally get up to dance. It wasn't until a slow song that caught your attention. You had your head leaning against Iwaizumi's shoulder when you spotted Oikawa and Kasumi walking center stage.
"I'm gonna go outside for some fresh air," You say, standing up. You adjusted your dress before walking away to the outside patio. The muffled sound of the slow song was heard as you rested your arms on the railing. You closed your eyes, trying to focus on the sounds of the streets nearby. It was hard to drown out the feelings of Oikawa after seeing him with Kasumi. You feel the pain well up, trying your best to resist crying.
You open your eyes as you feel something being placed on your shoulders. "You'll get sick out here," Iwaizumi says, standing beside you. "You're thinking of him aren't you?"
"Can we not talk about him?" You breathed, tears slowly rolling down your face. "I just don't want to think about how bad I fucked up."
"Well," Iwaizumi looked down at the ground. "Will you dance with me?" You turned to see him holding out his hand for you. Taking his offer, Iwa holds you close as the music played. He let you cry in his arms, knowing well enough that you needed this. Having held all your pain behind driving, you couldn't show how much you were in pain.
"Thank you Iwa," You sniffled into his chest.
"I'm always here for you," He smiled. "You're like a little sister to me...It pains me to see you all dull and hurt...When Makki asked you to come out with us, I didn't expect you to agree but I'm glad you did."
"Can I tell you something?" You panted for air through your tears.
Oikawa held Kasumi close, carefully swaying back and forth together. With her head resting on his chest, he was able to see through the patio window. He spots you and Iwaizumi dancing but for some reason it stung in his chest to see that. Why is he hurt? He's with Kasumi and he loves her, right?
Graduation day.
A group of cheers goes around the ceremony as your final day in high school is finally over. You greet your old classmates one more time, saving your close friends for last. For some reason, all the pain you previously carried had faded away. You approach the gate to meet with your friends for the last time before you go off your separate paths. Makki and Mattsun agreed to text you more to keep up with each other.
Iwaizumi had hugged you once last time, telling you to do your best. You smiled for the first time in a while. It was strange but Iwa was glad to see you starting to move on. You and him agreed to update each other on your mental healths and to hang out whenever you'd visit. Then it was the one you dreaded.
Saying goodbye to Oikawa, it'll be the last time you'll see him. You waited patiently for him as he was caught up by some fans and Kasumi. When he did manage to leave the underclassmen, he spotted you waiting. "Hey babe, can you go on ahead? I want to talk to Y/n," He says to his girlfriend. She nods happily, walking by you as she left.
"Hey," He stops a few feet away from you, scared to step any closer.
"Hi," You said. "I have a few words for you." You let out a small chuckle, leading him to believe it was something good.
"Good or bad?" He laughed.
"Well," You started. "I just wanted to say goodbye for the last time...It was nice being your friend and I know how rough it turned out in the end...I'm sorry for not telling you before how I felt. I just thought I wasn't good enough for you and that you'd fall for someone else. Kasumi is a great girl and you two are amazing together...I really wish you guys the best...I know you'll do outstanding in volleyball like the king you are. You better not forget us when you're famous..Listen, I have to go before I'm late, so this is...it...Goodbye Tooru." You wiped a tear from your cheek, smiling at him. You quickly turned around, disappearing into the city.
"Wait! Y/n!" He rushes after you, only to get lost in the crowd of third years saying their goodbyes. Oikawa felt tears well up in his eyes as he desperately looked around for you. "You didn't let me say..." He whispered to himself.
A week later, Oikawa and Iwaizumi join each other to lunch at your favorite restaurant. Iwa scrolls on his phone waiting for the food while Oikawa looked at the booth you two would always get. "Hey Iwa-chan?" He asks. "Do you know where Y/n decided to go after graduation?" Iwaizumi stopped scrolling to think back at the third year dance.
"Can I tell you something?" You panted for air through your tears.
"Anything," Iwa replied.
"I'm moving away from Miyagi immediately after graduation," You sniffled. "Remember when we were kids and we said we wanted to live in Tokyo or Kyoto?"
"Y-yeah," He was a little shaken up hearing that you'll be leaving so soon.
"My uncle just moved to Kyoto and he offer me a room there...and I said yes," You started to trace circles on his back. "It's by that college I wanted to go to and they have good jobs there and-"
"You don't have to explain yourself. You'll do amazing out there," Iwa chuckled. "Just promise you'll visit sometime?" He knew how much you needed to be away from Miyagi. Although it pained him, he knew it was only for the best.
"No," Iwa lied. "I haven't seen her. She hasn't texted in a while.
Three months after graduation.
You got into a cab on your way to your new job at a café. You stared out the window, admiring the new city you live in. Learning to adjust and work around the city was tough. The feeling of calling Kyoto home was strange, knowing that it wasn't.
Ever since you had said goodbye to Oikawa, things in his life changed. He believed losing you wasn't fair, not knowing where you'd gone always haunted him. He had broken up with Kasumi over the guilt held over his head. Always thinking about you when he was with her wasn't right. With you being gone, his only priority became volleyball.
You however, had let go of those old feelings you held onto. That last goodbye satisfied you, letting you sleep at night and allowed you to love yourself more. You've grown so much from dull slump you were stuck in for weeks. Though living in a different environment made it feel like you weren't even there.
Oikawa roamed the streets slowly approaching different shops along the sidewalk. He had some free time before the practice match he had, so it wouldn't hurt to explore, right?
That's when it happened.
You closed the door to your cab, turning towards the café's direction. Your eyes lock onto a set of familiar pupils. Frozen in time, the two of you never exchanged a word yet, suddenly a rush of emotions filled you both.
Pain, anger, fear, regret, almost everything you felt in the past came back to you seeing him. Standing before you, the man you once loved. The man you might still love.
You snapped out of your thoughts, walking towards him, stopping a few feet away from him. "Y/n what-" You raised your hand, harshly impacting Oikawa's cheek. His hand flies up to his face, holding the spot you smacked.
"You seriously broke up with Kasumi for me?" You growled. "Y-you're an idiot y'know? She was good to you too! Also ignoring Iwa for volleyball? I told you not to-"
"You kept track of me?" He whispered, a slight smile creeping on his face.
"W-Well obviously! I ask Iwa about you from time to time," You muttered. You looked up to Oikawa and saw him grin down at you.
Before you could say anything else, Oikawa puts his two hands on the sides of your cheeks. He pulls your face close to his, crashing his lips against yours. You tense at the action, gripping his wrists. He doesn't pull away until you settle into the kiss.
Your hands melt away from his wrists and reach for his torso. Your lips moved together in sync, almost as if it were a familiar feeling. He pulls away from you, pressing his forehead against yours. "You never let me say my goodbye," Oikawa snickered. "You said goodbye to me then disappeared without a trace."
"Sorry," You blushed. His hands move to your waist, still holding you close to him.
"I wanted to tell you that..." He took a deep breath before continuing. "I love you too. I'm sorry I'm so late in telling you and I'm sorry for being caught up with Kasumi. I didn't know what I was doing and I couldn't talk to you...I fucked up for not seeing how much you- well how much I loved you...I know this is all late and you probably don't want to hear any of this but-"
You tiptoed and kissed his nose, making him stop. "How'd you find out you loved me?" You looked at him curiously.
"I was driving down your street and all the old streets we'd walk through," He started. "It reminded me of you and then I saw that white streetcar. The one that is always parked by the laundromat? It made me realize how much you meant to me."
"Seriously? That old junk car?" You laughed.
"Hey, it reminded me of you okay, just seeing it whenever we hungout and passed it," Oikawa squeezed your hip, making you chuckle at him. "Will you ever forgive me?"
Your laughter ceases as you look up at him. "I had to learn how to drive on the highway on my own, jerk," You brought up.
"Is that a yes?" He smirked.
"...No...Maybe," You squinted your eyes at him. "You owe me ramen."
"Wait how'd you know how I've been these last few months?" Oikawa pulls away from your hold.
"Oh Iwa was the first to know I was moving, I asked him to check on you every now and then. I just wanted to make sure your pretty face doesn't do anything stupid. You did by the way, you did some stupid shit," You grinned. "Hey are you hungry? I can get you something from the café for free." You turned away from him, heading to your job.
"Hey you can't just insult me then leave, come here," He runs after you stopping you a few steps away from work. Oikawa plants a rough kiss on your lips before looking down at you. "The only stupid thing I did was not tell you I loved you sooner."

genre + warnings: friends to lovers kinda; swearing, established friendship, morning after, suggestive [ no smut ], also DONT HAVE DRUNK SEX.
pronouns used: female insert (she/her)
a/n: first part of the haikyuu song series :)
Your cheek were warm as you entered Sakusa's apartment. If it weren't for the alcohol in both of your systems, he wouldn't let you near him. You held his hand as you followed him into his bedroom. Sakusa closed the door behind you, pinning you against the wall. "I wanna get to know you better," He says. You feel his warm breathe against you before he crashes his lips into yours. "Are you okay with that?"
"Yes," You smiled as he trailed his hand to your back. Both your lips, moving in sync as you made your way to his bed. His hand began to roam your body as you landed on the sheets. "Omi are you sure?"
"Definitely," He says as his mouth connected with your neck.
After the two of you finish, you two laid beside each other on the bed. The room was warm from your heat and all you could do was admire Sakusa beside you. He reached over and combed your hair. "I was drunk when we started but," He sighed. "I'm not anymore."
"You're so pretty," As you were still a little tipsy, you smiled at his touch. "I thought you didn't like germs."
"I hate germs but...something about you, I'm okay with," He smiled. "I trust you."
"Hehe, you like me," You giggled. Sakusa rolled his eyes as he pulls you closer to him. You lay on his chest, drawing shapes on his naked body. "Does this mean we can have breakfast together?"
"Do you want to?" He chuckled at your drowsy proposal.
"Yeah," You yawned. "We can make pancakes, eggs, bacon.."
"Don't get my hopes up," Kiyoomi chuckled. "Do you work tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I work every morning," You groaned. "I wish I could stay here forever."
Kiyoomi laughed at your tipsy antics and began to comb your hair with his fingers. The night continued with your pillow talk, mostly making bold statements. Sakusa found your post-sex talk rewarding. He could tell he made you happy and you made him feel over the moon.
"You know I've never felt this- this- amazing with person in so long," You smiled. "Thank you Omi."
"Glad to be the one who made you feel this way," He chuckled.
"Thank you," You say. Your voice began to drift as you slowly fell asleep in his arms.
It was an odd feeling for Kiyoomi. He never let anyone touch him, not even his teammates. Having someone so close and so intimate with him was strange to him. He looks down at your naked body, pulling the blanket to cover you up. "Goodnight," He smiled. He kisses your forehead before falling asleep.
The sun began to rise hours later, the light shining through the blinds. You awaken to see the glistening lights hit your eyes. As your eyes fluttered open, you noticed yourself naked in a different bed. You looked over to see Sakusa's back facing you.
Your cheeks flushed red and you pulled the blanket up to cover your torso. You looked around to find your dress and undergarments on the floor. You quietly slipped out of bed and into the bathroom, grabbing your clothes on the way.
You examine your body, noticing the red marks littered along your chest and sides. You hide your face at the sight before quickly getting dressed. Quietly, you exit the bathroom to see Sakusa still deep asleep. "Sorry Omi," You say. You carefully leave the bedroom to head home.
"Shit, we took an uber home," You realized at the doorstep. "Fuck."
You ended up calling Hinata to pick you up and drop you off. You explained to him your mistake and how you hooked up with Sakusa. Hinata was shocked that he even let you touch him.
While you were on your way home, Sakusa was just waking up to an empty bed. He pinches his nose as he realized that you had left him alone. "She really left?" He grumbled. Sakusa dreaded getting up from bed but proceeded regardless.
As he entered the bathroom, he noticed something on the floor. It must've fell out your jacket because why would you leave your work ID card? He picked it up before turning on the shower.
Sakusa after his shower, he felt a pain on his back. He turned in the mirror to see scratches all over. He grazed the marks with his finger tips, wincing at the sore feeling. "Damn," He muttered. His phone began to ring from his bedside table.
"Hello? Omi-kun?" Atsumu answered.
"What do you want?"
"Oh just wanted to see how you were doing. You and Y/n were very drunk."
"I'm fine, I don't know about her. Thanks for checking in."
"You sound disappointed, everythin' okay?"
"Yeah, she just left me in the morning alone."
"Wait what?!" Atsumu exclaimed. "Did you two-"
"Yes, 'Sumu. We did," Kiyoomi rolled his eyes as he spoke.
"Oh my god- wait she ditched you? Was it bad?"
"No..." He began to think about last night. "It was more than just good actually."
"Oh, damn. Well, what are yer going to do now?"
"I'm going to her work to talk to her, and give back her ID card. I'll see you at practice later."
"Okay Omi! See you soon," Atsumu ends the call, leaving Sakusa to get ready to leave.
You had gotten ready for work after a long shower. You dragged your feet out the house and into your car to drive to work. It was a quiet ride on the way to the office and all you could think of was last night.
It wasn't that you regretted it, last night was amazing. The connection between you and Sakusa grew stronger yet you were too afraid to face him. Once you arrived at your work, you noticed a familar masked figure waiting for you out front. Your cheeks flushed red as you approached the entrance.
"What are you doing here?" You ask, avoiding eye contact.
"This," He flashes your work ID card.
"Oh, thanks," You reach out for the card but he holds it above his head.
"Where were you in the morning?" He asks. "You left me without a warning. Did I do something?"
"I-" You stopped and felt him bring your chin up with his fingers. "I was scared. Even now I am.."
"Why?" He pulled his hand away.
"You never touch anyone and I don't know if you meant what you said last night," You explained. "I was scared that you'd be freaked with me next to you. So if I left first.."
"You didn't have to face me," He finished your sentence. Sakusa hands you your ID card as he pulls off his mask. He brings his face close to yours before speaking. "I meant what I said."
"Oh, I-" You were cut off by Sakusa pressing his lips against yours. "I'm sorry Omi...for leaving."
"Make it up to me later today then," He stands up straight and adjusted his mask. "After practice, come to my apartment again. You owe me a meal."

song: hello? by clairo (ft. rejjie snow)
word count: 1k
genre + warnings: fluff; phone calls, nun bad
pronouns used: they/them
a/n: i didn't use any pronouns for the reader but still they/them;; ITALICS ARE KAGS
You laid your head on your desk staring at your phone. You were debating on calling Kageyama tonight or letting him rest. The two of you didn't become close until he found out your dad played for the Schweiden Alders. That's when he gave you attention, but then his intentions changed.
Kageyama used to only talk to you about your dad until he started to enjoy your company on the phone. The only issue was you were falling for him more and more when you talked to him.
It was a common thing to call him at night to ask him about practice, help him with homework, or just tell him how your day was.
Tonight felt strange, you weren't sure about calling him. You were too scared to talk to him now that you confirmed your own feelings. You had always called first but what if he only talked to you because you called?
Then it rang. You sat up and looked at the caller ID.
kags :)
"Hello?"
"Hey hey," You say.
"Why didn't you call?"
"Oh, was I supposed to?"
"I thought you liked talking to me."
"Who said I didn't?" You laughed. "Am I not worthy to speak to the king now?"
"Shut it," He growled.
"Just jokes," You smiled at his voice. "How was practice?"
"Tiring. Can we talk about something other than practice? Hinata got on my nerves" Kageyama was laying back on his bed, his phone on his chest. "How was your day?"
"It was fine. Aisaka-san and I went out to the café after school to talk about stuff," You say.
"Talk about what?"
"Oh...Uhm..This boy I like," You stuttered.
"Oh," Kageyama felt a pain in his chest hearing that.
"I dunno, I just...When I'm with him it feels real but how would I know he's not faking the way he acts around me?" You say.
"Well, who is it?"
"You wouldn't know him," You sighed. "He drives me crazy sometimes but I just want to kiss him so bad."
"Hmph," Kageyama was going through all the boys you've ever talked to. His mind was clouded by his own feelings.
"I doubt he even knows how I feel. It's like, when I'm around him I have to feel fake.
"Fake?"
"Well, I can't show him my real feelings or else I'd ruin our friendship. He means a lot to me and I don't want to lose him...Can we change the subject? I feel like I'm boring you."
"Sure." The rest of the night, the two of you talked about the future, school and just enjoyed each other's company. What scared you was how you could potentially ruin a good friendship over your teenage love.
You fell asleep on the phone together, Kageyama waking up first like always. The two of you had started a video call before going to bed like you normally did.
Kageyama stretched his arms and looked at his propped phone. You were snoring softly, hugging a pillow close to your chest. He always liked admiring you, especially when you snored, it gave him an excuse to tease you. He smirked at the sight and decided to not wake you from your slumber. "I'm going to get ready boke," He whispered. "I'll walk you today, you better wake up."
After a while, you woke up to see Kageyama putting on his shirt. "Eww," You joked. He flips you off before grabbing his jacket.
"You have fifteen minutes to get ready before I leave you," He responds.
"Yea yea, I'm not Hinata don't race me to get dressed," You say. "Call me back when you're outside."
The call ends and Kageyama is left with his own thoughts. Then an idea popped into his head. He had these same feelings as you did. He thought he should confess now before he gets hurt. Kageyama was already hurt to hear you like someone but he believed he could be the better man.
A week passes since you told Kageyama about your mystery man. He grew more and more anxious on how he'd do when he confessed to you. What was worse was he sucked at showing how he felt when it came to you.
The two of you were on the phone when he was excuting his plan. He had a bouquet of roses and a small bear with a letter on it. He didn't buy any of these himself, he had asked his sister on what to buy and asked the third years to buy what he needed.
"Wait what did Aisaka-chan say?" He asked as he walked into your neighborhood.
"She said she didn't like Joji like I said before. I called it, she never likes transfer students."
"Hey, Y/n?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you come outside? But put on a jacket it's cold."
"Outside? The hell?"
You climbed out of your warm bed and walked to the front door. You open the door to feel the cool air touch your body. Your eyes fell straight onto Kageyama's hands then onto him. "What-"
"I like you," He blurted. No thoughts behind it, plain and simple. "I've liked you for a while and I thought I should let you know. I enjoy talking to you everyday and I'm starting to fall for how... stupid- wait that's mean... For how amazing you are. I know I tease you a lot but my sister says if you bully a person it means you like them. I bully you because I like you and that's how we became closer. So please, I ask that you take my gifts."
"Are you being for real Kags?" You asked. Kageyama nodded and held out the gifts. You giggled at the sight of his rosy cheeks.
"Please accept my confession," He bowed. You walked out and pecked his cheek.
"You're the boy I tell Aisaka-san about," You whisper into his ear. You step back and take the gifts from him.
"You're being serious too, right?" He asked. You nodded profusely as he continued to pester you with questions. You go to tell him to stop asking when you were greeted by cool wind hits your body. "I told you get a jacket dumbass."
"Alright, off the porch," You shoo. "Call me when you get home jerk."
"I know, I will," He takes a step close to you before kissing your cheek. "See you." You were left a blushing mess as you shut the door. Leaving your heart filled with hopes of the future and that teenage love you always wanted.

song: dancing in my room by 347aidan
word count: 1.3k
genre + warnings: fluff; swearing, emo mode & insecurities mentioned
pronouns used: female insert (she/her)
a/n: no thoughts just bokuto <3 also requested by @lulu-102 also ive been tagging my general taglist not my imagine taglist bc it makes no sense to tag everyone in my playlist event thing
The upbeat music filled your room as you danced around in your room. You smiled as you jammed out to the melody. It was late at night and you'd been home alone all day. A dance session was the one thing that relieved your stress.
Bokuto could see from his window you dancing all about your room. He wasn't trying to peek in, but your bright LED lights and music caught his attention. He chuckled at the sight before returning to his conversation with Akaashi over video chat.
"Okay, that's the third time you weren't paying attention Bokuto-san. What are you looking at?" Akaashi asked.
"Y/n," He sighed. "She's dancing in her room and she's just too cute. I just- Sorry Akaashi."
"It's okay, why don't you ask her out?"
"Because she's in Class 6, why would she go out with me?" Bokuto groaned. He puts his head on the table as he sulked. "She's so fucking pretty."
"Bokuto-san."
"Hm?"
"You're one of the most popular boys in school, how wouldn't she like you? Plus, you guys are neighbors, isn't that a good thing?"
"Hnnnnngh." Bokuto groaned. He sat up and looked at his best friend. "We used to be close as kids then I took volleyball seriously and she drifted off. I don't even think she would like me. Fuck it, I don't even care."
"Bokuto, don't be so hard on yourself," Akaashi turns to talk to his mom. "I have to go, just try, you never know."
The call ends and he's left in his quiet room. The muffled music from your room made Bokuto wonder about you. He leaned over to peek at you dancing and notice you trip over yourself. He giggled at the sight as you immediately picked yourself up.
Bokuto sighed before turning off his light and laying in his bed. Only thing on his mind was you. He'd fallen for you in your first year. Whenever he saw you, his mood was brought up but then dipped back down. He told himself that he'd never get a relationship with you and that there were better guys for you.
After your stumble, you notice the light in Bokuto's window turn off. You tilted your head and lowered down your music. You looked around to find your long umbrella and approached your balcony. Sliding open the door, the cool air hit your arms, causing you to shiver. Carefully, you reached over and tapped Bokuto's window with the umbrella.
No response.
"Hmph," You huffed. You tapped again and the light flickered on. You watched as Bokuto made his way to the window. "Hey Ko." You smiled.
"Hey," He says softly.
"Oh, did I wake you?" You panicked.
"No, no, I'm just..." Bokuto rubbed the back of his neck.
"Didn't have a good day?" You ask.
"You could say that," He sighed.
"Well, I saw your light go out early so I was confused. Since you're having a bad day, did you wanna come over?" You suggest.
"Wait, come over?" He asks.
"Yea," You smiled. "You could always climb over the balcony like you did when we were kids."
"No, I shouldn't," He sighed.
"Please," You pouted. You quickly took the remote for your lights out and change the color to blue. "Come dance with me?" Bokuto chuckled at your way of begging.
"Fine, move over shorty," He says. He closes his glass door and turned back to you. You rolled your eyes at your old nickname and entered your room.
"I was taller than you back then, just saying," You argued. Bokuto easily climbed between balconies and followed after you, closing the door behind him.
"Yea but who's taller now?" He joked. You jabbed his shoulder before turning to change the lights to a color fade. "How do I dance with you? I haven't danced before."
"Just do what feels right," You say as you started swaying to the beat. You held out your hand to him as you moved. Bokuto chuckled at you before grabbing your hand. You tug him closer as you continued to dance.
As the songs end, you couldn't help but notice the smile on Bokuto's face. You two danced for another twelve songs before you got a text that you were being too loud. You turned down the music as Bokuto played with your lights while sitting on your bed.
You seat yourself next to him, leaning yourself on his shoulder. "It's been too long since we hung out Ko," You sighed.
"Yeah, last time I was here you had Hello Kitty on the walls not-" He paused to read the record title on your wall. "Not records that say Sex by The Beach." He looked at you chuckling.
"Shut up," You laughed.
"Is this us?" He pointed out a frame by your bedside table.
"Oh, it fell off my wall," You say. "It's one of my favorite photos of us."
The picture was of you and Bokuto in his sister's room. You had put on heels way too big for a seven year old and wore a long feather boa. Bokuto had a cardboard crown on his head and your pearl necklace. You two held up both ends of a bear to the camera, smiling like idiots.
"Damn we look fly," He laughed. You changed the lights to a less intense blue before laying back on your bed. Bokuto pokes your stomach before standing up. "I should get going now."
"Nooo," you whined. You held out your arms for him to cuddle you. "Come here snuggle bug."
"You haven't called me that since we were eight," He laughed. "Plus we're older now, it wouldn't be right."
"Why not?" You sat up.
"Because you're a girl and I'm-"
"A boy? Ko, what's wrong?" You tilt your head.
"Nothing, what would people say if they found out we slept next to each other?" Bokuto says. You could tell he was worried about your reputation. You shuffled to the end of the bed and reached up to Bokuto's shoulders. "Wha-"
You peck his cheek before sitting back. You notice his shocked expression and giggle at the sight. "Who cares Ko? No one will know we cuddled. Not unless you tell them. What's the harm?" You say. Bokuto sighs and looks at your puppy dog eyes. "Please. Just this once."
"Fine," He gave in. You open your arms for him to join you but he decides to tackle you into your pillows.
"Oh my god Kōtarō you're suffocating me," You muffled. He rolls of you and lays on his back. You turn to snuggle him, laying your head on his chest. "I...kinda missed this.." You hand subconsciously began to draw shapes on his torso.
"Really?" Bokuto looked down to see you and noticed your sleepy eyes. He chuckled before staring at the ceiling. "You know, you really made my night. All the dancing brought up my mood and...I'm glad it did. I missed hanging out with you."
He looks at you to find you asleep, softly snoring to the ambient noise of your fan. Bokuto could feel the heat rise to his cheeks as you shifted to hold him closer. He couldn't find himself to fall asleep after thinking about you all night. That was until you began to sleep talk.
"Mfffm Ko," You mumbled.
"Hm?" He looks down to see you dead asleep. "Sleep talking." He whispered.
"I like..I love you..." You slurred. "I miss hanging out with fou...But you're too pop- popular to date..."
You fell back asleep before you could finish your sentence. All Bokuto wanted to do was wake you to confirm your confession. Nonetheless, he smiled before kissing your forehead. "I love you too," he responded. He knew that in the morning, he'd repeat himself to you, starting your new relationship.
