"You forgot one; Unstoppable."
Alright, there's something about Sonic I need to get off my chest.
First, there's the movie sequel, which we've been waiting for since the post credit scene of Tails in first film. And this movie was absolutely incredible! I still haven't gotten out of the hype, the Wachowski boys live in my head rent free, I am unable to stop imagining scenario after funny or fluffy scenario and shenanigans. And there are so many retro easter eggs from every media of this franchise (so many in the climax alone, Knuckles jumping back off the Tornado, that light tap from '06, catching the giant robot's punch from Sonic X, Enerjak vibes from Archie comics during Master Emerald's origin story, the air bubble from underwater levels of Sonic Rush, that water slide in the last temple, the drowning scene paralleling first episode of Sonic X, all the classic traps, the same expression and flailing in "I can't swim!" as first episode of Sonic Boom, Fleetway vibes when they had us worried in the first half of that one scene, the snowboarding, Tails' Zeti Zappers from IDW, and so much more!) And don't even get me started on how well the mobian characters were done and finally, that mid credit scene. It wasn't exaggerated that those who weren't STH fans also know this beloved character. My best friend isn't a fan, she didn't even care much about this franchise before the second movie and doesn't know any lore but she also knows Shadow.
Then, while still in the hype of the sequel, there was already a teaser trailer of Sonic Prime released recently along with Sonic Origins trailer and the hype increased ten-fold, again. And I suspect that Issue #50 of IDW will be coming out on his 31st Anniversary so there's that too.
Anyways, all that Sonic content aside, but now even Disney has placed his 2019 trailer version in their movie.
Hear me out for a second.
First, I got upset at learning that version was featured in the film and trending, but then I gave it a little thought and went, "Oh. Oooohhhh! So that's what happened. Are they really that angry at our beloved blue hedgehog now? Oh, boy. XD" Now I'm laughing at the implications of why they placed him in one of their live action films, and in that particular form too. This afternoon, I told my Mom about it in these exact words, "Mom, guess what. Disney added the 2019 trailer version of Sonic in their recent-most live action movie and that one scene with 'Ugly Sonic' is now trending the most." She chuckled so hard at the irony, saying something along the lines of, 'Never thought this time would fall on them.'
Now, no offense to Disney or Chip n Dale fans ofcourse since this is purely from the point of view of a Sonic fan who saw her favorite character portrayed like that after his own movie was a block buster hit, it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots.
Remember those memes and posts Sonic fans were posting before Sonic 2 movie was released? The ones which said something like how we don't even care at this point if the movie is silly or childish or whatever, we want this hedgehog to break records. To make Disney and Marvel and Nintendo nervous, to make the other companies trip over their own feet trying to catch up to a speedy hedgehog fighting Jim Carry. And many other similar memes. Well, that's exactly what's happening and 2019 Sonic appearing in a freaking Disney movie like that just confirms it.
The hedgehog truly is unstoppable this year and I love it!

Since my third fursona Tiffany is a homicidal maniac I figured she's good for vent art.
Anyway here she is killing live-action Scuttle (kinda based on the scene in The Lighthouse where Robert Pattinson killed that sequel) as a metaphor for how I hate the live-action remake trend so much that it actually gives me suicidal thoughts.
Studying Disney has been my passion since I was a kid, I loved researching Walt Disney's life story, his early work with the Alice Comedies, then Oswald, then Mickey, the start of Disney animation, the history and making of their Silly Symphonies and all their animated films, learning all about Walt's Nine Old Men, learning about the history of Disneyland, reading books about Disney, watching documentaries about Disney...
It all fascinated me so deeply that I used to dream about becoming an animator. And now the exact same studio that inspired me after studying it for decades is the one responsible for me giving up my dream of becoming an animator. Because they don't give a shit about their own legacy. They don't give a shit about Walt Disney's legacy.
All their animated masterpieces are being lazily remade into live-action just for money and because animated films aren't "real" films so they need to make them live-action so they can bring them to life (except those stories were already brought to life by all the animators who put their heart and soul into them by bringing them to life with animation). They're not "looking at the stories in a new way", they have zero creative intentions behind any of them, they just need to make money AND unfortunately it works because idiot audiences see the trailers and say "MUH NOSTALGIA" and flock to see them when they could just rewatch the originals if they love nostalgia so much.
It's such a bleak time right now. AI is trying to replace artists, animation if being lazily remade into live-action, Disney almost took a documentary about Howard Ashman off of their streaming service (the man who made the music for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and  the Beast and Aladdin and was one of the people responsible for saving Disney with the Disney Renaissance), they actually DID remove the show Prop Culture (a show dedicated to searching for props from famous Disney films and preserving them, so basically a show about preserving Disney history is now gone forever, further proving how little Disney cares bout their legacy), mindless franchises are still shitting out movies, and Pixar just fired 75 of its employees including the woman who saved Toy Story 2.
I'm so glad I saw Across the Spider-Verse a few days ago, it was something that actually gave me hope for the future of animation.
And don't bother commenting with "WELL I THOUGHT (insert live-action remake here) WAS GOOD" because I don't give a shit.

I have an live action yandere film recommendation , it's an very odd movie filmed in Ireland so you might want to watch it with subtitles,it ends with the boy killing some guy out of jealousy. It's called disco pigs
Tumblr media
Sorry it took me a while, I normally don't watch as much live action films, but here we go. Disco Pigs is a artsy film about two people, Runt and Pig who grow up together, are each other's world until Pig goes out of control after he discovers his feelings for Runt. From what I remember, it's also suppose to be a stage play, which explains why it doesn't really feel like a normal film. Pig is the yandere in this one, considering he does murder someone for Runt.
The story starts out with Runt being born and seeing Pig for the first time. Ever since then, they were inseperatable, two halves of a whole who did everything together. The two aren't great kids either, causing a bunch of trouble like killing birds after Runt's dad abuses her, or bringing a knife to pop their inflatable doughnut while going to the beach and as teens, continue this trend of being not great people, bullying and attacking a guy at the store to get free booze amongst other things. It's clear that Pig is the more violent of the two, but both are troublemakers and both care for each other immensely. Runt is eventually sent off to boarding school and this is where Pig develops feelings for Runt, believing that the two are meant for each other and that one cannot live without the other. He ends up going to save Runt from boarding school on their birthday, going to bars to celebrate. In one bar, Runt gets to dance with a guy named Markey to which Pig ends up killing through bludgeoning him to death. After this, the two head to the beach, become one and Runt kills Pig, as Pig believes that he's gone to far. At the end Runt has lost the other half of her world and has to live with the consequences.
The film itself was a bit hard to interpret considering I'm really glad the subtitles were on or else I wouldn't really be understanding what they were saying. It feels strangely janky at some points, though I guess it's because it was originally a play rather than a movie. You could feel Pig's gradual decent into yandereness though as when Runt is taken away how big of a hole was left for him and his scene where he's kind of yelling at himself and runs to break her out of the boarding school does encapsulate that. The climax of course comes when he kills Markey in front of everyone after Runt dances with him and his eventually killing off by Runt in the end. To me, it felt like his yandere actions were eventually cut off, but I suppose it's better to end the madness like that if you are able to.
Overall, a pretty interesting film. There's something about it that feels real and yet not real at the same time. I'm not sure how else to describe it.

do you care to share any of your many feelings about Tony? Or why you're team Iron Man? I'm actually so curious about all your opinions about the MCU in general, like Tony and why Endgame ruined the franchise and why you didn't like Loki, so ... if you want to talk about any of those things please share because I want to know as much as you're willing to tell me! If not feel free to ignore this and continue on your day :)
Sure, lovely!
Imma just preface this by saying that I'm not looking to kick the hornet's nest and I'm not interested in having arguments with people about this sort of stuff. If anyone disagrees, that's cool, I legit do not care and please don't come into my inbox trying to change my mind or be upset.
I love Tony because he's a deeply flawed character, and within the story he's completely aware of his faults. He's by no means perfect and he doesn't pretend to be (except as a mask or a joke). He accepts responsibility for his actions the second he realises what's happening, he carries his guilt well and uses his mistakes to improve. He's charming, a snarky little shit, and traumatised, which is my favourite character type.
I'm Team Iron Man largely because I agree with their views in the movie. The Avengers really did need oversight, because holy shit have they done some fucked up things and made things actively worse in many instances. The fact that the accords were brought up by the UN and agreed on by 117 countries really makes it hard for me to just hand-wave those away. I live in a country that has a real problem with certain policing or political entities not having the correct level of oversight, and it's a shit-show. If I lived in a world where people could fly and punch someone into the stratosphere or destroy cities with laser beams and magic, then hell yeah would I want someone keeping an eye on them and at the very least making sure they had training/processes/policies they had to follow. The fact that Steve barely read the accords or took the time to understand them really bothered me. And the fact that the Civil War stopped being about the accords the second Barnes was involved also annoyed me. Steve had tunnel-vision, and it fucked everything up for everyone. So just on that, Team Iron Man wins by default for me.
Endgame just disappointed me. The plot was messy, and the shoehorned humour was completely out of tone. Trying to redeem Howard Stark was dumb. Thor was bad. Thanos annoyed me. Natasha got done dirty. It was just - idk. I don't really need to justify it. I just didn't have a good time overall. I haven't really liked many mcu films or tv shows, to be honest. I think I just watched them because they're the latest trend or whatever, and even the hype wasn't enough to keep me on the tether. There's just a lot of inconsistency with certain projects and it can get frustrating.
I didn't like Loki's show because I couldn't get into the characterisation of him. He turned...almost goofy? Silly? He just didn't have the sharpness I initially really liked, if that makes sense? Him being softer would have been fine, him learning to trust and have bonds would have been absolutely cool, but this was Loki fresh from New York and those first few episode just had him come off as a bit dumb. So I couldn't get into it :/
This was a very rough response lmao, but I hope it shines at least a little light on my thoughts 😂 Have a good day/night, darling!

This is my first imagine based on a tik tok trend! I hope you enjoy it, please leave your feedback in the comments! Tik tok trend: click here
-
Tik tok was of course the place to be everyday and every night with thousands of new trends begging to be shown every single day. You started to become slightly obsessed with watching some of the trends and funny videos which of course forced kostas into liking it just as much. Over a few days you had been seeing a huge amount of videos of girlfriends holding their hand out to their partner to see what they would do and you couldn't help but think it would be such a funny video to make. Kostas wasn't particularly clued up on everything and he was always the first person to get confused upon the simplest of things (weirdly this was something you actually loved about him).
Since you woke up you where trying to find the perfect time to do it and only now at 5 o'clock in the evening where you ready to carry out the tik tok. You where sat on the living room floor with your dogs next to you sorting threw a bunch of old pictures you had accumulated over the years whilst kostas was busy watching a film you had no interest in watching. Kostas was indulged in his own little world enjoying the scenes playing infront of his eyes and it was definitely show time. You took your phone from your hoodie pocket and quickly opened the camera proceeding to press record, you carefully sat up on your knees being careful to not mess up the neat piles of pictures and directed the phone at kostas but not to noticeable to the point he was going to ask a million and one questions as to why you where recording him.
"Kostas?" You said infront of him and the couch causing his head to look up from the arm of the couch where he was lieing. You placed your hand out infront of him with a smile and waited upon his reaction.
"What?" He asked with a confused tone sitting up from his position looking at your hand infront of him. You laughed to yourself aswell as making sure your phone was still recording. All you did was wiggle your hand at him to get his attention upon the idea that he had a relation to your hand.
"Did you get new nails or something? Wait no you can't have you got them done like last week" he reassured himself yet still grabbing your hand gently and moving your acrylics closer to him so he could have a closer look to see if anything had changed.
"Babe what?" He said with a laugh whilst looking at your nails noticing your nails still presented a baby pink colour which you had gotten done not long ago.
"My hand!" You said in a very high pitched tone wanting the attention to set in his brain.
"Well I know its your hand! But what about it?" He said running his hand through his blonde curls with a confused look spread across his face.
"What do you do with my hand?" You softly said with puppy eyes letting him know that this was something he should be aware of.
"I don't know" he laughed repeating his confused words again. He looked back at the tv completely ignoring your actions towards him as he was missing more than he would of liked to of his film. Your boyfriend layed himself back down on the couch enjoying the film showing to your camera he had nothing but grey sweat pants on.
"Fine then" you said jokingly in a mood whilst you walked back to your spot on the floor with your two dogs looking intently at you. Your phone was still recording and now you had rested it on the modern fire place under neath the huge TV giving a clear view on you, your dogs and kostas.
"If these two can do it and you can't we are over!" You laughed aiming it at your boyfriend who was now watching you with the two dogs carefully. You placed both of your hands out to both dogs causing there large paws to gently fall upon your palms.
"Oh my god! They did it!!!! Yaaaaaaaay" you shouted giving your dogs the biggest cuddles as they barked up at you aswell as giving many sloppy kisses as a result of your praise towards them.
"Oh noooo!! Nooo! I can hold your hand noo wait" he said with a needy tone jumping off the couch with a run towards you and grabbing your small hands. He held them both gently whilst pulling you up to him once your dogs had disperced from their needy moment.
"You didn't do it" you said once you where eye level with your boyfriend. He pulled your hands up to your eyes and showed you your fingers intertwined.
"But I have now" he giggled letting go quickly and pulling you up onto his waist letting you wrap your arms and legs around his waist. He kissed your lips softly feeling your lips move in sync with one another.
Although kostas lacked in romance when it came to the trend you had fell into and posted all of your fans had become obsessed with it and begged for more of you both and your gorgeous dogs.
I really hope you enjoyed this! Please feel free to leave feedback! Favourite accounts at the moment: @prettylittletrent @mrs-henderson @daddyhendo @hnrfc @travellvogue @weddingdisco @avenirdelight

I don't think agree with that though. You can use a older franchise without it being made for the audience that grew up on it. The new pokemon series doesn't need Ash to be a adult in a "mature" pokemon story. A new teen titans doesn't need to be like the original or care at all about those who grew up on the originals. It's just a kids show using characters new to them in the same way the OG titans were new to us, even though even older fans grew up on the comics.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You absolutely can change up old stories — and creators obviously do — I'm just saying no one should be surprised if adults are disappointed in the creation when it airs. And I think that disappointment is valid. Really, I think we're talking about two very different things here. There's a massive difference between adults becoming so obsessed with children's media that they try to cut the kids out of it completely and adults who say, "Hey, you made a really bad cartoon and I wish you hadn't because the original means a lot to me." What this conversation hasn't considered thus far are the good reboots that please both adults and kids (and getting enjoyment doesn't have to be because it's "made for" the adults in terms of grittiness. Adults enjoy standard cartoons too): Scooby Doo, Batman, and She-Ra to name just three. In most cases it's not really about the adults feeling like the cartoon isn't allowed to change, it's about the adults recognizing that the creators were trying to get by on nostalgia and nostalgia alone. They didn't handle the material respectfully and they didn't create a new story that could stand on its own. To be blunt, it's just bad, and both kids and adults recognize that. There are, as said, absolutely outliers here who take their nostalgia way, way, WAY too far, but they are actually outliers. Most adults love getting new content for a beloved series, whether it's updated for adults or still aimed at kids... provided that story is treated well. If you're not going to treat it well, why did you mess with something an entire generation loved rather than just creating something new?
Take Cruella, for example. Who is this movie for? By all surface logic it's for kids. It's a Disney film based on another, beloved Disney film. Anyone who hears the most basic premise for this prequel would go, "It's about Cruella from 101 Dalmatians? Yeah, that's obviously for children. Who else would it be for? Why are all these adults up-in-arms over a kid's movie? Get a life!" But, well, it's not a kid's movie. Not really. The live action aside, it's now PG-13 (as opposed to G) and it's 2 hours 14 minutes (as opposed to 1 h 19). Take a look at the official trailer:
youtube
Are there reboots, prequels, and sequels designed to breathe new life into an old story and update it for the kids of today? Absolutely and often those stories are great. But there's also a trend of taking what was previously kid's media and not updating it for just adults, but actively trying to appeal to both. Which is when we run into trouble. This trailer doesn't look anything like a kid's movie. From the cinematography to lines like "I guess they were always scared I'd be a psycho!" it's very much aimed at adults, but the subject itself, this character, is supposed to be for kids. It's a Disney movie, but Disney is no longer synonymous with children. Perhaps most importantly, Cruella is getting... mixed responses, to be generous. As said, a lot of adults' reactions come down to whether these beloved stories are treated well and when they're not, people are rightfully frustrated. We can't use "It's not meant for you" as an excuse here because who else is a trailer like this meant for except adults? It's less "I don't want kids to have anything. This is my story. Hands off. It needs to appeal to me and me alone!" and much more, "The creators clearly want me to be a part of this audience, I am arguably their actual target audience as opposed to the kids, and now that I've watched this I'm... I'm extremely disappointed. You took something I loved and did it dirty. I don't like it, I'm not sure if kids can even watch this... so who is this story for? It was pretty clearly for me, but now I'm being told my opinion doesn't matter because it's actually just for kids."
At the end of the day yeah, any creator has the right to change up old franchises to their heart's content — and often times those changes do exceedingly well. Personally, I'm very glad they exist. But if they do badly, if the original spark is discarded, if there's no new and epic spark to replace it, if there's confusion about who is even allowed to criticize the story (is it really for kids?) then those creators shouldn't be surprised when there's pushback. They knew what they were signing up for. They deliberately picked those beloved franchises because of the nostalgia. The flipside of that is, if they get it wrong, adults will criticize the show rather than praising it like they'd hoped.

Bumblebee (2018)
Good Evening worshippers, and welcome! Today the Cult of Cult goes a little more mainstream than usual. It's been a while since i've tackled a big Hollywood superhero film. But I do believe that these sorts of films will be remembered fondly my small groups of people in the future, especially the smaller films that are being overshadowed by the big bad MCU, films like 2018s Bumblebee.
The Messsage
Bumblebee was originally released as a prequel to the Transformers franchise that had started all the way back in 2007. However, reboots had really hit the market as a way to breath new life into struggling franchises, and the Transformers series had already gone to just about every absurd extreme you could imagine. No changes were made to the movie as it was released, but with it's more childish and heartfelt tone, and a new aesthetic that was softer, smoother, and all around just generally more pleasing to the eye, I think it was a wise choice to rebrand Bumblebee as a new beginning.
Our story is of two friends from two very different worlds and how they came together. Our first character is Bumblebee, then known as B- number sign/it doesn't really matter. Not yet Bumblebee is a soldier set with securing a safe location for the Autobots to regroup and make their home as they suffer a pretty serious defeat on cybertron at the hands of the tyrannical Decepticons. Optimus Prime, here again voiced by Peter Cullen and looking so much more like himself, assigns this task to Bumblebee promising him that they will meet him there when the time comes. Then Optimus fucks off for the rest of the run time making way for our little hero.
Bumblebee lands on Earth and is immediately set upon by John Cena and his military goon squad. It probably would have been wise for Bumblebee to avoid John Cena but in his defense, he couldn't see him. Hardy har har. In his attempt to flee his voice box is damaged, he seeks sanctuary by taking the form of a run down little VW bug, and suffers from amnesia.
Then we have Charlie. Charlie is not like other girls. She likes cars, all the retro music, which wasn't retro when the movie takes place, so I'm supposed to just think she's a rocker but it kinda seems like she'll listen to just about anything. I think in 2018 liking Motorhead and The Smiths (who are used ad nauseum in this movie) is perfectly common, but I feel like in the 80s that was a much different and much older attitude to take.
Anyway Charlie's poor family lives in a super fucking nice house and are poor because the dialogue keeps insisting they are so it must be true despite all the shit they have that actually poor people would sell blood and teeth to attain, but hell, this is Hollywood and Hollywood poor is like regular people upper middle class. Charlies family is so poor that instead of giving her a one time graduation/birthday present to buy a part for a car she already has, they just give her a moped, She also spends all her time at a pull apart where the manager (who might be her uncle that wasn't super clear) is willing to just give her a Volkswagen so I don't understand why she didn't already have the project car up and running. Whatever, it's a plot contrivance. All you need to know is that Charlie is tenacious and hard around the edges cuz her dad is dead and she's not yet mature enough to process that in a healthy way. Maybe her character arch will teach her to let others in, we'll have to find out.
There's also a wacky nerd named Memo, and some bad guys, and John Cena. They are all also pretty archetypal and contrived and don't really do anything of note that isn't just filling a beat that this kind of movie needs to walk. Charlie starts Bumblebee up, discovers he's a robot and the two begin to bond. Charlie learns to make a friend, and bumblebee is learning about himself. They get into hijinks and get revenge on a bully girl who makes Regina George look like a saint, she pretty much only picks on Charlie exclusively for having a dead dad.
The moment Bumblebee is woken back up, some technology goof em up that both he and Charlie are unaware of brings two Decepticon baddies into the picture. I don't remember their names, but since I love The Venture Brothers let's say they can be "Jet Boy and Jet Girl". Jet Boy and Jet Girl are sometimes cars, sometimes various flying military vehicles, and they make friends with the deep state and plan to get all the adrenochrome from all the orphans, or just to go find Bumblebee and beat his ass good cuz their bad guys. Let me tell y'all though, Jet Boy and Jet Girl are so bad that they don't even care that the government is listening when they reveal that they are planning on bringing a Decepticon Invasion and after they rough up Bumblebee real good they are going to destroy all life on this planet. So they start by killing a military scientist.
John Cena is after Bumblebee and he's homies with Jet Boy and Jet Girl until the military scientist butt dials him and he hears the evil plan. John Cena goes from heel to face and helps Bumblebee and Charlie save the day. It's a giant CG clusterfuck climax a la any superhero film in the last 10 years and I basically stopped watching. BumbleBee pulls a Hellraiser on Jet Boy, and then he hits Jet Girl with a freaking boat. Charlie uses her diving skills do dive down and save him, but he's a Giant Robot and he was okay and it was literally pointless for her to to except as a way to show that her character has completed her arch by doing the thing that was representative of her connection with her lost father.
Bumblebee turns into the Camaro from the first movie, meets up with Optimus prime, and the stage is set for this prequel to squeeze more prequels out. So it wasn't very creative, but was it bad? Let's find out.
Please Stand to receive the Benediction.
Best Aspect: Transform the Franchise
Bumblebee was directed by Travis Knight of Laika fame and it shows. This movie marks a stylistic change in the transformers franchise, as in it doesn't look like utter dog shit, but it also represents in many ways a tonal shift. It does hold on to a lot of gross sleaze that has unfortunately been forcibly jammed into the DNA of the franchise but it also attempts to be a more heartfelt entry. The characters of Bumblebee might all be sort of a waste of time, but at least they are doing something with emotions, even if the emotions of the characters are only explored as deeply as a children's cartoon I'm glad they are there. In the previous installments the only thing the characters did between running from action piece to seizure inducing action piece was drool over underage girls like a bunch of chimpanzees at the facility where they test experimental E.D. meds. It was nice to see that at least somewhat tampered. This transformers movie feels more like it's for kids and young teenagers, and strangely that more friendly tone makes for a much less juvenile product.
Worst Aspect: Remember I Love the 80s from the 2000s
I hope you really like Stranger Things. I do, but because Stranger Things was so successful it' s going to be everywhere. Not true Stranger Things just 80s nostalgia porn. This 80s nostalgia is going to be forced on you whether you like it or not, and it's not going to be fun. It's gonna be in your shows, in your music, in your Sunday like Bacon in 2010. It's that or Marvel Franchise Brand Whedonisms. Bumblebee is that brave movie that says, "Why not both?" It would seem fitting that a property as quintessentially 80s as Transformers should feel completely comfortable doing a period piece set in the 80's but it's so fucking half hearted it's depressing. It wasn't done to appreciate the roots of the IP, it was done to cash in on a trend and it feels it. All they did was throw up a date and insufferably force an 80s soundtrack down your throat as if that was enough to convince you that this movie needed to be set during this time. Other than that you could have told me this film was set in 2007 and I couldn't tell you any different.
Best Character: Charlie's an Angel
I liked Charlie. Sure her Arc is predictable, her taste is dumb, and she isn't exactly a master of her own destiny to any degree. But at least she is a woman in a transformers movie who's got something going on. Sure she's defined entirely by grief, but that sure is better than pretending that being able to work on cars is a feminist character trait instead of a weird fetish thing. They certainly do that thing with Charlie, but at least it's not the only thing they throw at the wall. Bumblebee is by no means out of the woods in this department, but it garners a lot of goodwill for trying. Like a racist uncle who just started his journey out of ignorance, but hasn't yet realized he has to stop asking mortifying questions to the barista at Starbucks. Okay, maybe that's an extreme metaphor. I'm saying that perhaps Charlie is not a great character but she's a great character for a Transfomers movie.
Worst Character: It's JOOOOHHHNNNN CEEEENA!!!!
Why is John Cena in this movie? I don't hate the guy, but his character seems pointless. You could remove him from the movie completely and replace him with any one of the random military goons at any point and it changes nothing. What was with that dumb salute at the end? It seems like they put him in this movie in post and it was just to pump up cast list. I wish he was given anything to work with. I can't remember his characters name, and it's not like John Cena did a bad job, I was just annoyed every time they kept giving him hero shots. I felt like I was watching a trailer for a different movie.
Best Actor: Optimal Primo!
Every time Peter Cullen speaks I want to listen. There's a reason they haven't had Chris Pratt or somebody with a bigger name come in and take over the role at this point. He's why the audience keep coming back. Peter Cullen IS Optimus Prime, and there's no changing that. He also wins twice. He's the best actor in the movie AND he's barely in the movie. Good call Peter.
Worst Actor: Mean Girls 2, Meaner and Girlier
I don't want to be cruel so I'm not going to go into to much detail, but there's an actress in this film who's performance is so mustache twirlingly evil and stupid that it ruined my suspension of disbelief when i knew going in that i was about to endure a 2 hour toy commercial about robots that turn into cars. Beldar Conehead was a more convincing human being than Tina.
Best Effect: Goo Be Gone
I really appreciated when the bad guys shot the government nerd into a blast of snot. That was pretty fun for me. Best part of the movie hands down.
Worst Effect: Live Action?
Bumblebee is a cartoon. It's a great looking cartoon but it doesn't sell itself that way. If we were doing a Roger Rabbit thing I'd have no gripes. However, I think CG is just getting worse. I'm criticizing this and it's still lightyears better than the previous entry's on the franchise. No transformation or fight sequence in Bumble Bee had me straining to make sense of what I was looking at. I think it was a great idea to start using some basic shapes and outlines to these characters, and return somewhat to their 80s designs. But at certain points, especially when there were no humans in the shot, i was pretty convinced I was watching Clone Wars. There may not be anyway around this, as the Transformers concept might not be able to be pulled off in any more effective manner. It's a minor gripe, but I just didn't think it looked like anything other than a very expensive cartoon, and in this franchise that's a compliment, because it least it looked like SOMETHING!
Best Scene: Space Opera
I am not a Transformers fan. I missed the boat on the cartoon as a kid. I would sometimes catch it at friends houses but I was more into Batman, Star Wars, and Ninja Turtles. By the time I came onto the scene the world had moved on to Beast Wars. I did one day arbitrarily decide that my favorite Transformer was Sound Wave. He looked great in this. I am a big fan of the return to form with a lot of the character designs in this. They really did keep the things that worked from the other adaptations, and they are steadily removing the things that didn't. For this reason, the scenes on Cybertron, particularly the battle with Soundwave (i prefer for personal reasons) looked great and were exciting to watch. I remember thinking Cybertron used to look like a Marilyn Manson shot a music video from inside to dumpster. This is so much better.
Worst Scene: Blocking the Box
There's a scene in Bumblebee where Charlie's family decides the best way to save their daughter was to cause a pile up of vehicles in an intersection, and it's pure contrived writing that saved any character in that sequence from being killed in a horrific traffic accident. It was stupid, played for laughs, and it wasn't exciting as much as it was anxiety inducing. I also thought that there was no reason the covert military group covering up extraterrestrial life wouldn't just disappear this family of fucking morons in their little piece of shit car. The logic of the scene was just so childish like, "No they won't hit me, I'm a good person."
Summary
Bumblebee may be remembered fondly in a decade. I think especially if the Transformers franchise were to end here. It didn't get the publicity of the other films, and that really is a shame. For my money, this was the best Transformers movie so far. I was very tempted to give Bumblebee a C, it does just enough to right what was wrong from the other movies to make me appreciate all that work. This movie has heart, and if you are at all into Transformers then l think you should see it. It's still pretty stupid, and pretty basic. It's not offering anything new to the genre, and it feels like a commercial for more movies. I really wish we could just get movies that want to tell a story. I thought it over and decided that it wasn't fair not to grade Bumblebee on it's own merits. Bumblebee is substantially better than the films that preceded it, but that's not saying a lot, when the films that preceded it are joyless exercises in self abuse.
Overall Grade: D

About #Menswear Selected By Guaizine:
Digital Fashion Week - A One Time Only Event?
Milan S/S 21 Menswear @showstudio Round-Up Discussion
Just a few @guaizine reflections about some of the opinions from the experts panel:
..."we are not going to get into a pandemic again"... well, I would not be so sure about it, and I think that is the main reason why we should get digital fashion weeks seriously and realize about the potential they have as a format if we manage to take advantage of it in the proper technical way. Those designers still presenting traditional runway shows have different audiences, broader ones, in comparison with smaller brands where the designer as a person is not as important as the product itself. For these smaller brands digital fashion weeks become crucial, as they represent the only -effective- way to reach a client; direct one or an eventual retailer.
..."give the youth more control of the creation"... this is a very good point of view, and I am pretty sure that many of the people involved in fashion for years, -for generations actually - like happens in many of the houses that take part on the MFW for example, had or still does have that great idea of bringing new blood to their business in mind too, but I am pretty sure also that such a thing won't ever happen if that “old” generation do not effectively see that the new one has the proper tools to make it work.
..."Brands are forced to bring their narratives to people and audiences"... Yes! that is right and that suppose to be the right way to approach the digital fashion week from a brand point of view, that is why I was surprised about not hearing about brands like MSGM or Zegna XXX, that having a quite sharp knowledge of their audiences manage to arrive directly to the core of it with a couple of beautiful presentations undoubtedly effective, taking a few steps away for the storytelling and focusing way more on the product itself, a product that seems to be made for their very specific buyers, and not focused at all on trying to generate trends during the next season. Playing safe is always a valid way of being part of the game.
Another interesting point of view is the budgets brands have to put digital shows online, and is obvious that a bigger budget gives you the potential to do something better in theory but this is not always the case and this is the perfect opportunity to bring the Magliano presentation to the discussion, a low budget presentation with an original collection presented is a creative way, nothing was left behind, and everything works as a perfectly executed puzzle. The video is simply a video art piece, that gives to a group or fashion insiders with an unique point of view the task of sending a message to an audience they know well so they manage to address them exactly what they are expecting from the brand, going even further away by pushing forward the brand appealing with content that to me is interesting to look at also to people who is not actually interested in fashion.
..."I really didn't watch a lot of the films and stuff...because they are so much content to sort of digest"... and? so? What do you think editors do then during fashion week? How can someone build some criteria to later go and write a piece to be posted or published if it is not by watching in this case, or attending in person to every single show in each city season after season? How can you give an opinion about a fashion week by only looking to a few instagram feeds of two or three brands? would that be the proper way to approach a panel discussion?
About Philipp Plein, Pierre was quite clever about going further instead of giving it time to be discussed. I have the feeling that the main reason why we still listen about him and his "work" during every fashion week is because with plenty of resources you manage to survive even if people only talk about you to criticize what you do. Maybe a bit less attention will give him the chance to reflect on his strategy and realize that maybe he has a market -obviously he does have one- but fashion weeks are not the kind of platform his brand needs and that huge budget can be invested on design or marketing.
About Etro doing a physical fashion show instead of a digital one in a city that has been suffering so much during the last months, I think is a topic very difficult to talk about especially if you are out of the social, economical and even political context of it. So I will leave to the brand itself and their PR team to deal with it, but also will avoid giving my free opinion about it on social media because saying that the event was inappropriate because I saw people not wearing masks for example is not only superficial but shows a huge lack of understanding of the context of the industry of fashion in the country, of the circumstances of the city today and so many other topics that goes beyond fashion. So saving the social media hubs our opinions about it I guess is the right attitude towards an issue we all know so little so far. Let's focus on fashion guys, please.
..."The people who were invited to Etro...most of them were white"... how can we be surprised about this in 2020?, there is not much black people involved in fashion, it is been like that for decades, so for me the element of surprise has no place at all in this discussion, what should be the brand doing instead? Inviting a bunch of random people just to make the show look diverse? I think the problem we need to face here once again is the lack of diversity in people involved in the whole industry and not in a particular fashion show that happens to take place immediately after the world has been facing weeks of protests that fight racism. Ironically seem to me like is way more honest a show like that, than the attitude that the most of the brands adopted for digital fashion week trying, desperately to look "inclusive": Being "inclusive" in fashion in 2020 according to digital fashion weeks, from Russia to Paris is "to exclude", Yes, exclude automatically from any fashion presentation or show any blonde model, as simple as that, Go for it and you instantly become "inclusive". Sounds exactly like a few years ago when we saw in the industry suddenly loads of oriental models to reach runways, presentations, and magazines after the fashion insiders finally realized that the oriental market was exploding and greeting western fashion and lifestyle as never before.
About the @gucci presentation and "...who would wear that"... is funny that after years of Alessandro Michele, a panel with plenty of stylists think that way about the brand and seems not to have done the exercise of to look at the clothes produced by the brand and designed by the designer and his team, properly, closely and separately. They all seem to stop instead at the styled looks they get from a magazine, or sadly once again, from the brand's instagram feed...
Let's move on..."There are a lot of brands struggling to survive, struggling to sell"... I agree, that is not a secret to anyone these days, But ironically you only had time to "watch and digest" two, maybe three digital fashion shows and they were of the biggest brands, so? What is the point here? won't those small brands be struggling less if we all will be talking more about them? showcasing them more on our websites and YouTube videos? "watching and digesting" more of their design and ideas? Don't you all guys think that would be a more fair approach to it, and without a single doubt an easy and effective way to "help" them?
..."Milan is always a step behind Paris"... please, let's be careful about this kind of opinion because we risk to look like people that see and live fashion -once again- from and around Instagram and Tik tok. The only reason why Paris and Milan are different is because the brands they showcase are different between them, different because they have different audiences, different markets, different targets, those factors make the difference and are not the trends they generate or not after the runway shows the relevant matter on this issue.
About Versace, the approach I agree was quite good, very much attached to the times. But I still have the feeling, even a few days after, that they missed a huge opportunity to make something great! They have everything that they need to make a video successful, but the director seems to be behind on the timing of the scenes, and rhythm was the big absent on the film, the whole final product seems lacking energy and action, which seems to be difficult not to be able to reach with such  a vivrant tune, an stunning dancer, and good clothes - either you like the brand or not-  at the end the whole looked more like a music video and not as a fashion presentation. With probably a huge budget you would expect a pretty much perfect piece of content, especially if in the past, smaller brands like Grace Wales Bonner, did stunning pieces like Practice, directed by Harley Weir and Grace herself and Devonté Hynes as a collaborator, demonstrating that is not money to make the different in this cases but talent mixed and balanced in the right way is.
The collection was presented under the title of "flash" because it was a "see now, buy SOON" collection and not a "See now, buy now" since as you mentioned it was not very successful at the end a few years ago. Keeping on Versace, I agree Gianni Versace was one of the main designers of the 90's but saying today that the brand needs to be given "expertise, fabric development and technical design" sounds to me a bit irresponsable. If you want "something a little bit new" I suggest you once again to look and focus on NEW brands, If we like -or not- brands like Versace is because they manage to keep a concept during their history and they try their best to present it in a different way season after season; sometimes they reach better results than others, ( becoming a "miss more than a hit" ;-P ) but at least there is a constant attempt on going beyond fashion and transforming those ideas more into a lifestyle for the people that likes, follows, and more importantly buy the brand products.
Moving into the JW Anderson presentation I heard ..."A designer explaining the meaning behind it...we do not get that from the designer mouth anymore"... come on, that is what designers do to press right before every single fashion show is about to start, and they do it once again to press and buyers after the show ends, is part of the fashion protocole, it is been happening for years, decades, so you will get that from "designers in the future" still, there is nothing to worry about.
A final word goes to Pierre A. who I talked to very quickly on Twitter to express my feelings about this round up discussion and he mention that "a live panel is not an easy exercise (specially on Zoom)" and of course underlining that it was his first time doing it, but from my very personal point of view you managed very well, in this cases one of the most important things to keep in mind is to give space to your guests and you definitely mastered that bit! Very well done! <3

I've never seen you express so much hatred over a remake before. Why don't you just ignore the film? You're giving it the attention you wish it wasn't getting. Focus on the things that you enjoy. :(
Normally, I would do that. But honestly, this was the final straw for me. I am sick fo seeing my favorite animation company acting like this. I am sick of their remakes. Yeah, there’s a legit concern about how many things they’re doing and how them acquiring so much is legit scary. But IDK enough about business and stuff to delve into that. But I do know what I like Disney for: telling good stories via animation. To me, these remakes say ‘yeah, the animation was inferior, let’s do it in live-action and make it more ’real’ AND bank on people’s nostalgia at the same time!’. It is a cheap money-making scheme that despite how EVERYONE has said they hate it, they won’t stop doing it.
This was the last straw because A, Disney still won’t get the message that if they have to do these remakes, we at least do NOT want it to be the exact same story beat for beat with minor or stupid changes. It’s why so many hated Beauty and the Beast, for example. Like I despise Maleficent, but at least it tried something different. And two, like the other ones, so much of it is utterly lifeless. There’s no energy. No passion. No expression. I watched the Hakuna Matata scene, and what should be a charming and hilarious number that makes all of your cares go away made me bored, annoyed, and angry to see this film be so utterly dull. You know, The Lion King. The film that many, and I mean many consider to be Disney’s greatest film of all time. And this is coming from a person who finds the film overrated, but you would think that Disney would put everything into making this movie of all movies the greatest of them all. Instead? Because of how little they put into it, is by far their lowest point with these remakes.
You do have a point though. I probably should quit talking about it. After all, giving it attention isn’t worth my time and it doesn’t deserve it. I’m probably going to stop pretty soon and again go with the ‘if the movie stinks, just don’t go’ argument. But I couldn’t keep quiet about my utter rage at this trend anymore. It’s why I’m glad that Mulan isn’t going to follow the original film, which means that I can safely ignore it (and considering how Mulan is my favorite movie of all time, then my rage if they had messed it up would have been even worse than my rage here). I’ll try to tone it down Anon, but at the same time, we do need to talk about it. Not this film specifically, but about the remake trend. because I want to see them stop and get back to doing animation, and I do NOT mean sequels that weren’t needed to begin with like Ralph Breaks the Internet.

★ INTERVIEW: Salman Khan On Ghosts Of His Past, Attempts Of Image Rehabilitation, And Why Critics Don't Matter !
In an exclusive interview, Khan opens up like never before.
15/06/2017 | Ankur Pathak
It's no secret that Salman Khan has a rather whimsical equation with the press. Whenever I have seen him at events and press conferences, the actor either appears distracted and zoned out or the opposite: funny, attentive, and in the mood to have a baller time.
On Wednesday evening at Bandra's Taj Lands End, Salman is busy gorging on keema pao, straight from the containers of the buffet spread. At the same time, he's also talking to a journalist, calling Pritam, the music composer, 'lethargic and lazy.'
While I worry he'll be his usual inattentive self, Salman, dressed in a black tee and a black denim, takes a smoke break. His film, Tubelight, is days away from release and the pressure is palpable. Khan's eyes look droopy, his gait, tired. He is not only acting in the film but also producing and distributing it.
After waiting for over two hours (that'd come at the cost of standing up a date), Khan sits with me for a chat. Excerpts:
Kabir Khan's Tubelight once again portrays you as a sincere, innocuous, do-gooder who's just too nice to do any wrong -- a trend that started with Bajrangi Bhaijaan and was seen in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo too. What draws you to these characters?
Like you said, the niceness of it. But with Tubelight, my agenda is different -- after the film, I want brothers, who may not have spoken to one another in months and years, to call each other up and forget the differences, if they had any. I want them to be so emotionally overcome that they just let past differences aside and say, "Hey man, let's party." Many times, in our families, we end up cutting ourselves away from our siblings. Sometimes the issues are trivial, sometimes serious. But why let it affect you? I hope Tubelight can achieve that. It touches on those emotions. This film is beautifully shot. It's also styled very well by Lepakshi Ellawadi, who did Sultan and is doing Tiger Zinda Hai.
But Salman, do you actually believe films can end family feuds and change people's lives?
Absolutely. I've seen films that have changed my life. And trust me, if a film can change me, out of all people, a film can change anyone. It is the only medium that has such a huge influence on your psyche. When you sit in that dark room and see a character, you are also internally absorbing its ideas and traits.
When you see nobility being projected by a hero, you are inspired to emulate it. This is one of the reasons why I haven't ever played a negative character. Negativity in a character doesn't impress me. Say if you have a character who earns a living through corrupt means, man, that puts me off. I will never play a dark character. Underdogs impress me. Those who make it against all odds impress me. I want to tell their stories.
But doesn't that limit you as an actor? A lot of great performances in cinema have come from actors who've played dark, twisted, villainous roles.
Well, I don't know. From the stuff I do, a Dabangg is a character that is sort of, somewhere-in-between. His intentions are good, actions aren't all that good. So you try and balance that off. My next, Tiger Zinda Hai, also veers in the grey area. I am also doing a crazy dance film. So while I do wanna portray characters which are inherently nice, I don't want them to be one-dimensional. It has to have style and swag and some depth.
While your popularity in the country is undeniably huge, I believe there is a certain section in the audience who aren't your fans and perhaps, they'll never be. While some don't want to be seen endorsing your brand of cinema, some will find hard to appreciate even a good film only because you are in it. A lot, I think, has to do with the notoriety of your past.
Well, I don't know. I move around and meet all sorts of people but funnily, I have never been told that. Neither have I noticed that. But if you say so, all I can say is that I will probably have to work that much harder to win them over. I know it won't happen overnight but I can only hope that some day they'll warm up to me as an artist.
Do you feel you are unfairly judged by your critics?
I genuinely, honestly don't care. I believe that they've no right to take anybody's hard work down. The fans will decide that, in any case. The box-office will prove it one way or the other. What have you done to earn the right to rip a film apart? On Day 1 of the release, you write some rubbish crap. It destroys films and a lot of hard work that went behind making it. With me, of course, it doesn't make any difference. And I think they know it all too well. My films are critic-proof. I am telling them now: go give my film minus 100 stars, why just zero. Let's see how that pans out. My fans will anyway watch my film and that's my reward. It only makes them look like a bunch of idiots.

I am pretty sure that our critics aren't under the delusion that they can influence the market of a Salman Khan film. What I want to know is -- what is your analysis? Why do you think they are so insanely crazy about Salman? I cannot even send a negative tweet about you without getting massively trolled by this insane sub-culture of bhaifans.
I don't know. Maybe they think I'm one of them. Maybe they think I am just a regular dude who's chill and approachable and has no airs of being a superstar. And I have remained like that right from the start. I lived in Indore in a boarding school until the age of 16. That really grounded me. I hung around on the streets, went to the farms. There's nothing fancy about my life. I like cycling around the city, I hop into an auto-rickshaw now and then. I don't drive a big car -- I hate big cars. Maybe that, along with the kind of films I do, make them think I'm, I don't know, accessible in a way?
I don't drive a big car -- I hate big cars.
Perhaps. It's hard to decode stardom.
It is. I just think I am a guy who lucked out. Mostly because of the family I was born in. I am immensely fortunate to have the kind of family and friends and the fans I have. Some people come to me and tell me that their children are yet to talk but if they see a Salman Khan song, they jump, react, laugh. They can recall me by my name. Earlier it used to be Prem and Chulbul but now it's Salman.
I don't get it. There are children and youngsters who idolize you and have deified you. They look up to you, want to emulate you, carry your style. But I believe you're obviously a very flawed person to idolize. You've had some very serious court cases against you. Why should anybody just forget and forgive and move on to your next blockbuster?
Everybody has a past. Does that make you a bad person for life? In my case, there is deliberate malice. When people go after you for something you have not done, it's bad. Next thing you know you are running around courts and people are judging you.
For 20 years. 20 years is a long time, man. It's a lot of years. It takes a toll on you and your family. The financial toll on our family because of the cases has been huge.
For 20 years. 20 years is a long time, man. It's a lot of years. It takes a toll on you and your family. The financial toll on our family because of the cases has been huge.
When I was a nobody I had nothing. (Pauses) When I become somebody, I got the magistrate court. When I become slightly bigger, I got the High Court, then. And now when I am in this position, I have the Supreme Court.
Well, something awful did happen. It's not going to leave you.
It will leave me. It's God's way of anchoring me down. If these things didn't happen, I would have lost the plot by now. That's how I see it. It's my journey and whatever it takes, I will go through it. Thankfully, I have family and friends who've stood by me and pointed out whatever happened wasn't correct.
How do you deal with these ghosts of the past, Salman?
I don't have any ghosts. These ghosts have been created by people who are running businesses on them. There are so many incidents like mine that happened and nobody ever talks about them. Whenever there's a hit-and-run that happens anywhere, they drag me into it all over again. I mean, what the hell, come on, man. How much will you go on and on...
Whenever there's a hit-and-run that happens anywhere, they drag me into it all over again.
That's because some do think you got away with it quite easily.
...well, the High Court looked into it and they came up with a verdict which says that nothing of that sort ever happened. Ye sab galat hi hai. The courts said it. But what about the 20 years? What about it? Mere toh wo gaye na? And there's nothing to compensate for that. Nothing at all. And during all this, when I am seen doing a comedy show, or romancing beautiful women, or just laughing, they go like, "Look at this brat. He doesn't care. He is indifferent to what happened." And I am like, dude. It's my bloody job. I have to do it no matter what. I have to do it to sustain myself and pay my lawyers. If I don't do it, where is the money going to come from?
The idea still lingers around that you got away with it because you are a powerful movie star.
Which is not at all true. It's not true. It's all nautanki (mischief). Even now there are 5 out of job people who'll show up on television to debate my case. Some for, some against. It's ridiculous. None of them would have happened if I wasn't a star. None of it.
There's an argument that your Being Human charitable trust has been cleverly designed to rehabilitate your image. That, along with your Mr. Good Boy roles, carves a certain perspective that glosses over your moral transgressions.
Do you have any idea of the amount of work we do at Being Human? We do s***loads of work on a daily basis. I haven't even put my name there, man. It's Being Human. I am not even on the Board or any of the trustees. The idea is that years from now, people should forget who even started the foundation. You have no idea, man. Do one thing: Come and live my life for one day.
