yesss ronance my beloveds!!! this fic has been floating around in my brain for ages I just need to sit down and finish writing it (doesn't help that i had written the opening and then LOST IT and had to redo it and i'm not as happy with it but anyways here we go):

Nancy held her hand as they found Steve’s spare key, under the mat as always, and let themselves into his house, both aware that there were other things that they should maybe be doing but too caught up in the invisible tide drawing them here, together, towards a brief moment of safety in the midst of what was shaping up to be not just a terrible day but a terrible world, too. And even though Robin had spent more time in Steve’s place lately, it was Nancy who led them through the empty house. Up the stairs and down the hall to the master bathroom. And it was Nancy who looked at her and said, “We should really shower.” Robin came back to herself in that moment. She’d been so distracted by Nancy’s hand. So soft and so small in her own, perfect unbitten nails that were barely chipped, nail beds rimmed with blood and dirt. But Nancy talking about showering pulled her back into the moment. “Right, yeah, you’re totally right! Um, you can go first, and I’ll just-“ Robin tried to tug her hand away. Nancy didn’t let go. “Stay,” she said, her voice a little hoarse, but firm and unshaking.
