Carlos Sainz x Celebrity OC Mer&Der trope… Part 1.

For all those who’s seen Greys Anatomy you’ll know exactly how Meredith& Derek got together and that’s gonna be the trope for this story. If you haven’t seen Greys then it’s fine, but OC is a celebrity hired as a reporter during the Grands Prix of 2021. Anyway, I won’t spoil anything further…

AN- I tried to use the name Molly Ashley as the OC name but because I’m so used to writing OC as Jenny or Jennifer that I kept slipping up so just stuck to that, but altered it to Jenna just to switch it up, so if there’s any errors that’s why!!! (Was going to use Belle my real name but it kinda made me cringe). warnings - mentions of sex, maybe a slow start, nothing too graphic… yet. Excuse my lack of F1 knowledge I’m trying my best lmao

“Ahh there she is!” Ted Kravitz, the infamous F1 grid walk reporter exclaimed, grinning as I hurried in, panting desperately as I scurried into the room. “Sorry, I had to run!” I placed both hands on my knees, holding the papers I’d sprinted back to my hotel room to gather before making it back here in a record time of six minutes. I’d run for six minutes flat- and I hadn’t run a singular meter since secondary school. 20 year old me was aging bad.

“Almost beat a world record there!” Oh my god, Jenson fucking Button was stood right in front of me and I was practically wheezing for air. Not to mention I was violently hungover from last nights party. Sky reporters and the crew went a lot harder than I ever could have imagined…

“Hello! Sorry, I’m so out of breath.” I stood up straighter, shaking his hand as I handed over the papers to once of the producers who needed them. “It’s lovely to meet you! I’m Jensen” He laughed as I attempted to laugh back, but it just came out as a breathless wheeze. “I’m Jenna!” I managed to speak as he smiled, patting my upper back. “I’ll let you die in peace.” “Not just yet! Are you ready to interview some drivers, Jen?” Lisa, the woman who hired me headed over. She was like the CEO of F1 reporters for Sky, I didn’t know how it worked, but I was bloody glad she was here to guide me. “Just about.” I managed to stand up straighter. Nicole, the makeup artist, and Sebastian, the hairstylist, both headed over to touch me up- something I found myself enjoying a little too much. These people made me look better than anybody I’d ever had done my hair or makeup, I was starting to rely on them to make me look human, especially after last night.

“Well your first up with Max Verstappen, he was second to Lewis in Bahrain, will definitely be pushing for first today.”

“Oh yes! I know Max.” I waved my hand, I’d befriended Max two nights ago when all the drivers were out. “Yeah, Max and Charles looked to have a lot of fun with you the other night.” Lisa teased. Long story short, we’d taken one too many shots and Max Verstappen had thrown up over the side of a bridge into an Italian canal below. Classic.

Knowing my first interview ever was just with Max was reassuring. It made it all way less intimidating, even if the interview didn’t go so smoothly, it was entertaining and that’s exactly what I was hired for. “If you win how are you gonna celebrate?” I asked, holding the mic towards him. “You know exactly how!” Max began cracking up as I attempted to hold back my laughter. “Did you know your sky presenter can drink men under the table?” He slung an arm around me, tugging me to face the camera directly. I gasped and instantly began speaking again. “Well good luck today Max!! Wishing you all the best!” He laughed out loud as I changed the subject abruptly. “Thank you!” He laughed giving me a quick hug, “and you’ll be out tonight, yeah?” He asked as I nodded. “Sure.” “Hopefully not sneaking off with-“

“Oh, no, no, no!” My eyes widened, preventing him from finishing that sentence. Last night I’d got home with a man- another driver to be precise. It seems news spread quick amongst drivers and the grid. Max smirked and gave my one last goodbye before I moved on to interview a couple more celebrities lined up on the grid, waiting for the race to start. Interviewing random people there was far more easier than the drivers, when it came my time to head back over to where Ferrari were preparing on the grid I felt my chest tighten.

“Uh, Lisa, who’s my next interview with?”

“Well, just grab whoever you can, you’ve been doing so great at that so far, but next you are interviewing…” she scrolled down on her phone screen. Whilst I awaited her answer, I felt my heart rate increase, as if the hungover palpitations weren’t enough, this was giving me full blown anxiety. My eyes scanned over the grid, seeing two men dressed in their red Ferrari gear, it seemed they were awaiting me, looking over in the distance. Charles Leclerc and-

“Carlos Sainz!” Fuck! Simultaneous to Lisa saying his name there was a quick. “Yes?!” Following this, a body appeared besides mine and I was momentarily breathless, Carlos Sainz. The exact man I’d slept with only 12 hours prior and woken up next to in bed this morning. A series of flashback swept through me followed by a serious swooning as my eyes gazed up to the taller man. A pair of his dark eyes met my own gaze, and I saw him physically react. Eyes widened, mouth slightly parted. His gloved hand moved up to touch his chest, I wondered if his heart had leapt the exact same way mine had? “Carlos Sainz?!” I took a deep breath, forcing a smile as I remembered the cameras were rolling. “Hola!” He greeted, surprise lacing his tone, he hesitated slightly, waiting for my reaction before moving closer and greeting me to a kiss either side of my cheek. I gulped at the contact, the close proximity wafting the scent of his cologne, the exact same one that was plastered over my pillow cases. Double fuck! He was somehow even sexier now I was sober! “Jenna Ashley.” He laughed a little breathlessly as I remembered, judging by the flag on his front, he was Spanish. Duh. “Hola.” I giggled, knowing my face was just as vibrant as his uniform. I could feel Lisa eyeing me up from the sidelines of the interview.

“¿Hablas español?” (Do you speak Spanish?) he asked immediately, eyebrows perking, he seemed slightly nervous, unable to hold eye contact. I didn’t know if that was the awkwardness from the fact the man was quite literally inside of me last night.

“Uhhh, un poco. Pero hablemos en ingles o no les gusto.” (a little, but let’s talk in English or they wont like me). I slowly translated, glancing back to the clueless cameraman and Lisa. I think that made sense, my nerves mixed with my limited Spanish probably made me speak like a child. Carlos laughed in response, rubbing his hands on his uniform. I then went through a series of questions, finding it hard not to giggle with him right in front of me. I was reduced to the behaviour of a school girl. “How are you gonna celebrate if you win today? Or if you don’t win?!” “Any way possible… now there’s no COVID restrictions!” He inhaled excitedly. “Sounds good to me.” I glanced back at the camera, feeling his eyes lingering over me.

“Thank you, Carlos, it’s been a pleasure, good luck for today! I wish you the best.” I laughed, barely being able to maintain eye contact with him as his plump lips stretched into a happy smile. God, he was perfect, tanned skin, Spanish accent, insanely nice, polite, perfect mop of hair, and don’t get me started on those eyes, he had me swooning like I was straight out of a cartoon. “Gracias… thank you.” Carlos nodded down to me and the camera as I flashed him a small smile, stealing another glimpse at him through my eyelashes as he cleared his throat slightly once the camera was turned away. I could feel his eyes burning holes into me, I couldn’t tell if he was checking me out or if he was entirely baffled by the situation. I swallowed the lingering anxiety I felt, tensing my jaw at the thought of him scanning over my face. “Good luck.” I then flashed him another smile to combat the awkwardness as he stepped a little closer. “N-no sabia que ibas-“ (I did not know you were going-) he stammered, but his words fell short when I was being ushered onto my next interview. “I promise I’ll let you mingle afterwards! I’m sorry!” Lisa apologised, attempting to move me on. I turned back up to Carlos, opening my mouth but my words fell short. When we made eye contact once more I felt the butterflies in my stomach, the cliche way my heart jumped, and that knot in my chest tightening. It was all happening at once. “Good luck again!” I politely nodded as he offered me another genuine smile, eyes lingering over my face, as though he was trying to analyse my features. Pffft, it wasn’t like he didn’t have chance to do that last night. Talking about last night… my mind roamed back to the events of the night before, clouded from the mix of alcohol and sex that plagued my mind.

in human form, he has scales in a few places

down the side of his hips to the top of his thighs and a few straglers on his ankles

his scales are blue and green. they're iridescent as well, super pretty

the closer to his chest, the lighter his scales are but there's still some dark ones around his hips that are more like a navy blue

his fins are probably on the greener side as well, and im thinking more translucent too

Tommy goes to the aquarium :>

I wish you would write a fic where... ///not accepting theres not that much world building here except that i imagine the mers here are being rented by the aquarium. not in a fucked up way but kind of like how restaurants and partys will hire "mermaids" irl but in this world, mermaids actually exist lmao big noodly boys with sparkly tails. kids love em and its an easy job. just swim around for a few hours and show off some tricks also tommy is supposed to be in like. elementary school on a field trip

The mer was doing something really cool. Tommy just knows it. He can hear the crowd's oo's and ahh's and the other children giggling and shouting. Tommy wants to see so bad but he knows better than to try and join the group.

He pouts on the other side of the room, barely catching a glimpse of the long, sparkly tail rolling in the water.

There's supposed to be three mer today, but only the blue one has been seen. He's really friendly. Tommy saw him for a little bit and he knows a lot of tricks.

If only Dream hadn't come on the field trip. Tommy doesn't even know why he's here! He spent all week up to today talking about how stupid mer are and making fun of Tommy for being excited. But now he's plastered right against the glass with his stupid friends.

It would be better if Tubbo was here, but his friend had gotten lice and wasn't allowed to join. Tommy had promised to tell him all about the mer, but how can he when Dream would push him away if he tried to join?

Sighing, Tommy watches the fish swim by. There's no one by this side of the wall, everyone wanted to see the mer while they could. At least that means no dumb employees were around to scold Tommy for tapping on the glass.

He taps out random rhythms, not thinking too much about it. The sound of his nail tink-tink-tinking on the glass is nice. Tommy likes it.

He stares at his finger, cheek leaning on the cool glass. With his ear pressed to it, Tommy's tapping sounds so much louder. It's sort of cool-

Tink-tink-tink.

Tommy jerks his head away from the glass. That...wasn't him. It almost sounded like someone else was tapping as well, but when he glances around there's still no one nearby.

Only he hears the tapping again. Tink-tink-tink.

His eyes snap to the sound and-

and-

He can see his own reflection on the glass. He can see his eyes widening so, so big. So big he can see the whites of his eyes all the way around. They're almost as white as the mer's teeth.

He's grinning. Needle-like fangs fill his mouth and Tommy's belly kind of swoops to see them. The mer's rises a little bit more off the cliffs edge, emerging from one of the holes in the rocky wall. His tail is a deep, dark black but as he swims into the light, a shimmering green starts to spread.

He's so pretty.

Pretty and scary. Tommy has never seen a mer so close. Not a real one. He's seen pictures and videos but this one is looking at Tommy. This one is alive and real.

Tommy glances around, expecting to see anyone else notice the mer, but he's still alone.

Tink-tink-tink. The mer is tapping again.

Tommy looks back to him and the mer waves with a webbed hand. It's so human-looking. Except for the scales and green color of course. Tommy hesitantly taps the glass again. The mer copies his pattern and Tommy smiles.

They go back and forth for a bit. Tapping little patterns back and forth. It ends when the mer suddenly blows a bunch of bubbles at the glass. It makes Tommy laugh.

Okay, I don't have like, a refrences but I'll try to to explain as best I can and with some pictures I found. (I’ll also go pretty detailed into my thoughts but I do not mind at all if you want to simplify something or change some stuff like that, I just really like to talk lmao)

The fish tail stops between where the hips and waist would be on a human. The "sail" or dorsal fin i guess you call it goes along the "human" back, starts between the shoulders and stops around where the tail starts. The sail looks kind of like this but can rise or lay flat against the back.

I like to think that the mer look very different and take on aspects from different seacratures (such a fish, sharks, dolphins, whales etc). So the tail fin (aka caudal fin) can look very different depending on the mer.

Fit's tail fin shape is similar to this:

While Ramon and Spreen have/had a more this type of shape:

All mers have slit pupils, similar to cats or snakes, and have sharp teeth with four fangs (two top row, two bottom), and have fin ears. Their claws are similar to talons or bear claws.

My oc Lukka (based off of Lago, the bird from Aladdin) loves the heat surprisingly, he enjoys long naps under the hot sun, so Lukka will probably just enjoy himself just by sunbathing during the party. But he will REFUSE to get in the water (hates getting wet)

his favorite color is dark red, and to a beach he would just be wearing short pants, with a short-sleeve tropical button up. Most likely to be the one bringing ice cream in a cooler for the others to enjoy, he would definitely drag along Jamil by promising him that he’ll take care of Kalim for a whole week- (Jamil definitely doubted him but needed a break so he agreed to it anyway)

There's plenty of faces we know here, no reason to watch him like a hawk~" Jamil scowled and motioned to the 'lovely' guests "Oh your right let's see... a chaotic trio of mers, the infamous heartslaybul duo, the cunning big cats... yes what reliable bunch" He rolled his eyes as he turned back to everyone. Tuna had started tossing seaweed around to prank people, but a lost crab had found it's new pass-time, pinching at everyone. The two sunbathers shared an intense stare, a look that said 'I'm not dealing with that' Deciding to let fate take it's course they reclined back into their seats and enjoyed the show of chaos before them. Lukka handed Jamil an ice cream from the cooler, "Dinner and a show~!" ---

aw omg anon first of all, this is so sweet of you to ask <33 the jokey answer is i don't know, im just very lucky lmao

but the more genuine answer is that i made friends on tumblr pretty closely to how i make friends in real life: slowly and organically 😵‍💫

the best advice i can give for trying to make friends on tumblr is to be earnest and enthusiastic about the things you care about, and to seek out others with the same interests! there are a lot of people on tumblr who have kind of quiet/unobtrusive blogs: they don't talk in the tags, they don't make original posts, they dont ask/answer asks, etc; and those blogs usually tend to fade into the background, because for a lot of people that's their intention for using tumblr in that way. but in my experience, i've found and made most of my mutuals/friends on here by being vocal and enthusiastic and personable!

make jokes/commentary in the tags of reblogs- this will make you memorable both to the person you're reblogging from, and to the people who see you on their dash, i've started multiple dm conversations with new mutuals based on tags that they or i have made on a post, that sparked an organic conversation-- especially artists and authors of fan content you like; reblogging a post of their art/fic with complimentary tags is an EASY way to make friends with people whose art you like and respect- I'm speaking from experience from both sides of that exchange! so many artists and authors on tumblr are so friendly and so lovely and LOVE to get feedback and thoughts and compliments about their work, and even if it doesn't spark a friendship i always think it's a good thing to put more happiness in the world

reblog ask games and send in asks to people you follow/people that you're mutuals with! most people love to talk/share about themselves, and it's a great way to compliment people/ ask questions to someone whom you don't feel comfortable direct messaging with yet!! the common culture on tumblr is to send an ask for an ask game to the person you're reblogging the game post from, and i think that's a great way to get footholds in with people you want to be friends with !!

i don't know how common this is, but for me i kind of got naturally integrated into a big d20 friendgroup/mutual circle a couple years back, and i think it's a really easy way to make new/more friends- check out who your mutuals are reblogging from or sending asks to/recieving them from frequently! look for people with additional shared interests!

participating in fan creation events is also a really great way to meet new people in a fan space, especially if you write/draw/etc-- i've met and become really good friends with quite a few people through d20 gift exchanges and big bangs over the last few years, and it's a good time of year to keep your eyes peeled for gift exchange fan events right now !!

finally, if there's someone you think is really cool and you want to be friends with them: just message them! one of my dearest and oldest mutuals and friends on here started our friendship by direct messaging me entirely out of the blue "hey you seem cool and we seem to have similar interests, feel free to ignore me but i think we should be friends!" and that was like. four years ago<3 (hiii mer!! xox) sometimes it won't work, and sometimes it'll fizzle out or be awkward, but don't let that dissuade you!! you'll find your people, just keep looking <3

tldr: be natural, be human. it's really easy to blend into just another nameless faceless blog on tumblr, so using the tags and the asks feature and having a distinctive url/header/summary/pinned post is a good way to make yourself memorable, which in my experience is the first step to being seen as approachable/friendly to other people on here!! be yourself, and find a niche/group/media/interest you're passionate about, and seek out people with like interests!! tumblr can seem really daunting i know, and especially when you're a new or small blog it can feel really intimidating when all the other blogs around you seem to already have their established little mutual friend groups; but remember- we're all just people here!! and a lot of us are always looking for a new friend <3

I feel like I spend so much time talking about Jesse and AJ so I'm gonna make this a certified Meriwa & AJ-centric post!

Mer is a good relative. Not necessarily a conventionally good PARENT, but you could also argue the same for Jesse. The situation w/ these three is so nuanced but that's besides the point lmao. She curses a lot and thinks her omelets are better than Jesse's. She also thinks it's not a crime to put cheese and bacon into a pancake, they can be savory too "if you open your tiny mind". She hates the PTA moms of Skagway. She's thinking of going back to school. She's so good at being Jesse's friend and so annoyed abt that. She proclaims she's straight edge but gets scolded by AJ for smoking cigarettes. She has a strained relationship with her youngest sister and a relationship she's greatly missing with her oldest sister, who died not long before AJ was born. She loves her little sister Amlliq (pronounced um-sh-k; most just call her Billie) despite their struggles, because family is family. That, family being family, is a little part of the reason she comes back AJ's freshman year of high school.

I've talked a bit about her return but I can't emphasize enough just how much of a catalyst it was for things to start falling like dominoes for AJ. Jesse very gently and very carefully makes him aware of her presence in town, and makes it very clear that he does NOT have to meet her, he has NO obligation to invite her into his life at this point, and whatever AJ needs of him, he'll be right there. AJ is just like ty I appreciate all of that, I don't really wanna meet her but I think I need to hear what she has to say anyway and then decide. He appreciates just how honest she is about why she gave him up, why she's here now, if it's just because it seems "easier" now that he's older. She's basically just like listen I was in my early 20's, I had a lot going on, I still gave your dad a choice, I didn't even know I was pregnant until I went into labor. And AJ's like um okay PAUSE on that last one lmaooo. At the end of it Mer is like "I wouldn't hold it against you if you told me to fuck off. Just figured I'd try reaching out and see if you're open to building some sort of... something."

He doesn't at first, but once things fall apart with Jesse he starts spending a lot of time around her-- in the grand scheme, knowing what he knows, she suddenly becomes the lesser of two evils lol. He does end up enjoying their time together, she's functionally a cool big sister at this early stage of their relationship.

She knows, by the way. Meriwa's known about Jesse for a good long while and it's the other reason she decides to come back. That part gnaws at her; she knows he'd been troubled, but not much more than that. Her continued inaction the longer she knew about this without checking on AJ led to a growing guilt, which kind of paralyzed her further into not checking in, and so the cycle went for several years. Mer's well aware she herself is not perfect, and she has a brain, so the nuance of the Heisenberg chronicles was not lost on her. And then actually meeting AJ, seeing how he turned out, how he and Jesse interact... it was very relieving. At the same time, she doesn't question or judge when AJ needs that space from Jesse to come to grips with everything.

I feel I've already piled on a LOT of information but I wanna touch briefly on their first mother-son trip that I've mentioned before as well!! Summer before sophomore year she bring him to Fairbanks to meet the rest of her family. He has a lot of cool aunts and uncles and cousins, there're two cousins in particular around his age and he really enjoys getting to know them. His family is so big now!! And frankly he needs it, sad as the reality of it is he needs that breathing room from Jesse; the two need time to repair separately before they can come back together. He feels great warmth at having more family to be a part of, but throughout the trip starts to feel dejected and a little jealous over how doting, affectionate, and playful an aunt Meriwa can be to her youngest nieces and nephews. The pendulum of AJ's grandfather clock of angst is never not in motion and it's just frequently swinging back and forth between these two forces in his life: one that used to represent stability but now belies unrest; and one that used to represent the opposite but now hold the promise of something more permanent, but that scares him!! And with his state of disillusionment he's convinced it'll all fall apart at any second.

One day I'll talk more abt the dynamic btwn Jesse, AJ's godmother Delilah, and Meriwa, but that's a whole can of worms loll and would also mean I need to actually Talk abt Delilah, bc I never do for some reason but she's SO important in the AJ Lore

She's had a passing interest in journalism and so that's what she's thinking of majoring in when she goes back to school-- Jesse always says WHEN not IF bc he fully believes Mer can do it and she'll absolutely kill it

She's closest with her uncle and her mother :')

Her pancakes are stellar, both of the sweet and savory variety, but she'll only make chocolate chip pancakes for the former. She refuses to get cc pancakes from diners bc they never put it in the batter and you can't just slather it on top what's even the point--

Mer doesn't put a label on it but she's bisexual, and is definitely sure Jesse is too. She'll lean over to AJ sometimes and be like, "Does he know..?" and AJ's like "Not a clue"

🤔 What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

At the moment, it's a Valjean/Javert story set during the Montreuil-sur-Mer era, that's very confusing for both of them because they get entangled (because of fanfic reasons lol) and feelings get involved, and it all feels really good in my head but what are words? How do I turn it into a story? :D Most likely, I will combine it with post-Seine, because I like the idea of them having to untangle the Madeleine era stuff too (especially when they get closer and then Javert just gets angry and petty and turns Valjean in anyway) ... idk it's all very vague because coming up with "but how would they get closer during the Montreuil era is HARD" LMAO But funnily enough, because it's a book with so many adaptations that just do whatever, it feels kind of freeing because I don't feel the pressure to really stay 100% true to the characterization because people who make adaptations don't either, so I kind of hope that trying to write Valjean/Javert fic will be less pressuring than writing Star Trek fics.

🛠 Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?

I do have a Valjean/Javert wip that's based on Les Misérables 2000 - I just want to use the scene where Javert walks into the Seine, his wrists handcuffed, and I like the dynamic Valjean and Javert have in that series - so far, it's also the only adaptation I've seen that has Valjean talk about Javert after Javert's death (and it also feels that if he got that chance, he would follow Javert and stop him from killing himself, more than others) - but I just can't figure out how to make Valjean take Javert home after Seine because my brain is like, but would he truly? (ofc not, but I want him to, brain!!!! :D idk maybe he should follow Javert to his home instead? 🤔)

how does their tail regrow???

I will preface this with it's all made up and has no actual biological basis, purely fantasy, don't @ me science side of tumblr lmao.

So in my head it's sorta combo snake/salamamder/tadpole. The skin sorta slophs off around their hips when it's getting close to time to leave the water for somewhere warmer, finding a mate (matey in this case, pirate joke) or buring themself in the mud like a frog to hibernate if they are too lazy. Then the rest of the tail sorta pops off and sinks to feed the swamp biome for the 3 months. During that three months, the fishy snakey skin starts to regrow (it's a bit itchy!) on their legs and fins appear (hips and ankles) and just before the legs fuse they jump back in the water. In my head their tail starts out short, cuz their feets grew the tail fins, and over the course of the next 9 months gets longer like the snakey tail in my original mer Caro art. And the cycle starts over. Tbh I just love the trope of only being able to TRULY be around your lover part time since being on land is uncomf for them with tail and he can't swim, plus it echos JxCs canon long distance relationship. Its very silly and I spent WAY TOO LONG thinking about this.

“How did you even get sick?” Azul sighs, watching the panther in front of him act an absolute fool as he mumbles something about chasing after his cub in the rain. Grim causing more trouble, surely. “You look distasteful. Come here.”

It’s with a heavy knit in his brow that the octo-mer wraps Yuujirou in a blanket, huffing and puffing the whole way, nothing but worried scoldings leaving his mouth.

It’s funny, the panther thinks, how Azul tries so hard to cover up his care with nagging. It's not effective in the least, so it's really just entertaining to watch him splutter over himself and become increasingly less composed.

“Now, go lay right there,” He references the couch in his office, trying futilely to will his cheeks not to go red as Yuujirou starts purring.

“And I’ll keep taking care of you. You’re lucky you have the Tweels wrapped around your finger, truly… Otherwise I wouldn't even consider this, you know. So troublesome...”

“Mmph.” That was a lie, but Yuuji sounds his agreement anyways.

He collapses onto the couch without a care in the world, blearily looking back at the octopus, smiling softly when he saw how red he was. “Thanks, ‘Zul… 's sweet.”

That’s all it takes for Azul to practically combust, sentences starting and stopping all at once before he ultimately decides to hurriedly wave the hybrid off with a sound reminiscent to a dying whale as he ran off to go find the Tweels and get their assistance with taking care of Yuujirou.

It seemed he was even more forthcoming when sick, unfortunately for Azul. Hopefully the eels would take over caring for him until Azul was functioning again.

My headcanons for MerRin.

Rin is a Mer-Princess of one of the 7 kingdoms of the Sea. The greatest Kingdom is the Uzushiogakure, ruled by King Minato and Queen Kushina. Rin is very special because of her ability to commune with all sea life and control water, she is beloved by all and revered for her kind and gentle nature as well as her beauty.

Her best friend is Lady Konan, she is also close with Lady Shizune the apprentice of Queen Tsunade. She also has a close bond with the young mermaids; Sakura, Tenten, Ino and Hinata. She is also like a big sister to Prince Naruto.

She also bonded with the mighty water spirit Isobu, which she keeps secret from everyone, due to the merfolk fearing him. Only Konan, Shizune and Naruto know of her friendship with Isobu.

Another close friend and confidant, is Lord Nagato, who often serves as her psychologist (He does NOT get paid unfortunately) and he encourages her to keep her mind open to everything.

The Nara, Akimichi, Yamanaka, Senju, Hyuga and Haruno are all merfolk. Mei Terumi is another queen of the 7 kingdoms and a mentor to Rin. She is served by her two loyal bodyguards, Kisame and Zabuza. Who are considered the greatest warriors in all the seven seas.

Obito is a human. He is a lord and technically a prince. He is the nephew of King Fugaku and Queen Mikoto. He's the older cousin of Prince Sasuke, Prince Itachi and Lord/Prince Shisui.

His best friends are Baron Kakashi, Lord Yahiko, Sir Gai, Lady Anko, Lady Kurenai and Prince Asuma.

Obito is a powerful fire wielder, but a kind and fair man as well as supreme commander of the Army. The Aburame, Inuzuka and Sarutobi are part of the kingdom. And the Land of Suna is a close ally. Lord Danzo Shimura is a powerful man within the kingdom and plots to size power for himself. Hiruzen and Jiraiya are two trusted lords and advisors to Fugaku.

King Fugaku is a fair minded man, but he is a man under a lot of pressure and strain, so he doesn't always make the right decisions.

Now the Merfolk are constantly warned about not to go near the surface due to the danger of land. But Rin is always curious, as is Naruto.

Obito tries to be a fair and just man in everything he does, but suffers from sorrow and depression after the death of his parents at a young age.

That's what I've got. Really want to hear your thoughts on this AU and how do you think Obito and Rin would meet.

There are things I agree with and things I cannot agree with here.

I'm going to offer my most honest thoughts respectfully. Forgive any harshness.

Let's start off with what needs to be scrapped:

-We're gonna scrap off the friendship with Konan because it's too OOC, along with Nagato being her "psychologist" - too OOC as well. People should not forget the characterization and personality of the Ame Orphans at all. They were one way with Jiraiya, but as full-fledged characters they are no where near fluffy and friendly.

-Yes, Yahiko is scrapped off from the friendship with Obito too. Put the Akatsuki on the side, they are their own organization that have diplomatic ties with the kingdom.

*I must strongly emphasize that there is absolutely no need for everything to be a friendship just to have more characters involved.

-Also, Rin being a princess is unnecessary given that Minato and Kushina are the rulers here. She does not need to be completely royal to have value. Also, while she's a lovely and genuine mermaid, her being friendly with nearly every living being is too Mary Sue. You can have her as a subordinate to the royal family instead, and with a pleasant social status amongst the merfolk.

-The whole apprenticeship with Tsunade/parallel of Sakura thing is also unnecessary. Paralleling with Team Minato with Team 7 is already overused and makes the characters lack so much personality. To put it bluntly...parallelism with Team 7 is annoying as hell.

-Mei Terumi's loyal guards can be Ao and Chojuro, given that Ao is her right hand and Chojuro is her close subordinate, lmao. Her being Rin's mentor....no. Minato WAS her teacher.

-You can throw in Kurenai as a mermaid here so she can be close to Rin instead of Shizune. Shizune is off somewhere with Tsunade so...yeah. She can also develop a connection with the human Asuma and have their own little story, lmao.

Here is what is approved:

-Rin's friendship with Isobu even though it's a secret because yes, he is apparently the terror of the ocean, lol. Nobody needs to know other than Kushina and Naruto who is clearly connected to a Nine-tailed fox spirit that roams in the land.

-Rin controlling water, approved. She is a mermaid, so of course she can commune with sea life. She's a healer type, so that's cool.

-Obito's best friend is Kakashi and he's close with Asuma and Gai, yes, approved. As I mentioned, Kurenai can be a mermaid.

-Rin having a close bond with Naruto, totally approved.

-Fugaku and Mikoto being rulers, approved. Obito being a fire wielder as well as a commander and his fair personality, also approved.

-Merfolk being warned and all, approved. Danzo's plot, the clans' status in the kingdom, etc etc...approved.

-Obito's depression, very MUCH approved. Perhaps Rin would not have parents either and would be orphaned too, and that way she and Obito can be connected based on that. :D

How would Obito and Rin meet?

-We can always use the Little Mermaid reference; and have Obito drowning. It can start off with Obito and Kakashi fighting off some threats on the borders of the kingdom, and Obito saves Kakashi by running towards an enemy and tackling him off a cliff, which makes Obito fall into the water. The enemy would be dead. That's where Rin finds him, and drags him to the land.

-Kakashi of course, after finishing off the enemies with his lightning attacks, would immediately alert the kingdom to send out a search party for Obito.

-By the time Rin drags Obito to the shore, Rin would use her healing powers to heal him, and then Obito would wake up and see her hiding behind a rock. He'd be a little disoriented, and then Rin would tell him what happened slowly. Taking a closer look at Rin, he'd ask her if she saved him, to which Rin would nod her head cautiously.

-When he realizes that Rin is still in the water, Obito would question it, and then would hide further behind the rock. Obito calls out to her again, and Rin would say that she is not allowed to be out here and that he cannot tell anyone he saw her.

-Obito promises he will keep it all a secret if she lets him see her, and that's when Rin reveals herself to him as a mermaid. Of course, Obito would be astounded by her beauty, and they would exchange each other's names. Obito swears that this is all a secret. Rin would say that she needs to go before someone finds him, and Obito agrees.

-As he watches her swim off, he'd see her tail flailing in the water before she is entirely out of sight. The image of Rin is fully imprinted in Obito's head, while Rin anxiously returns home - not without thinking about the man she just saved.

Extra thoughts:

*Yes, as usual, Rin would have long hair. I'm sure you can imagine how pretty she is already; maybe with a tiara made out of coral (tie-in to Isobu's coral jutsu in canon). :D Her tail's colors would be a mixture of purple and blue gradient, and there would be some gold on the pelvic area.

If we are still referencing Little Mermaid (although I don't see the necessity to follow it all the way): Orochimaru could be the wizard (with octopus tentacles for his tail much like Ursula LMAO) that would give Rin the potion for her to have legs and all...XD

Would you be a mer, a beastman, a fae, or a human? (or other!)

Some sort of sea mammal merperson. I like to swim but I'm warm-blooded and huggable. Maybe a manatee, since I'm just vibing most of the time. Not in a hurry, not trying to show off.

Would you be at RSA or NRC?

I don't think I'm "good" enough for RSA. I'm lazy, selfish, and have a hard time sticking up for myself, so I'd probably end up being some stronger-willed NRC student's lackey. (Also I don't know anything about RSA and I wanna be able to finish this questionnaire lmao)

Pomefiore, mostly for the artsiness, and I'd like to learn how to make potions and such.

Does the Pop Music Club need a ukulele player? I'm super confident when I'm performing, but I have to hide behind some kind of persona to pull it off. Offstage, I'm a shy bean. That could also mean a spot in the Film Studies Club. Even if I didn't perform with them, I'd have fun doing "behind the scenes" type work - making costumes, arranging sets, that sorta thing.

How do you think you would survive in twisted wonderland/what would your life be like in general?

Thinking about what I was like in high school, I'd be glad to be at NRC, away from the strong influence of my parents. I'd start out shy, but I feel like I might become stronger by graduation, as I'd be able to make my own decisions and figure myself out more living away from home.

WiJ 2022 - 01: (Re)introduce Yourself

Intro!!

Hi, I'm emc, and I write whump of original characters in original settings! I've had this blog since some time in August last year (2021), and in these short few months, I've come a long way in the whump community. Everyone I've met here is wonderful and friendly and I've enjoyed every second of whumpblr and whump discord.

I've had at least a vague awareness about my taste for (fictional) blood since I was a kid around 5 or 6, but I first remember seeking the whumperflies in my teens (I'll get more into that in tomorrow's post :3c), and later still, I discovered Whumpblr posts through Pintrest, and joined a whump discord server a few years later, and then made this blog a year after that ^-^' . Getting into whump is the best thing I've ever done tbh, it's the gift that keeps on giving.

(I can now run off whump derived dopamine instead of trying to be happy!! /j/j/j/j)

Some fun facts are... I'm Australian, I do karate, I'm in the Danny Phantom fandom, I have an interest in cutting gems and other semiprecious stones, I have three cats, I love plants and gardening, and my favourite colour is unironically a deep, cool red. I also draw!

Project Updates!

Since joining the community, I have made tremendous progress on my nearest and dearest project Shifting Phases! Not only do I now have a rough idea of how to get everyone to the end scenes, I've actually started writing it!!! I'm super excited! I want to get it beta read in its entirety before I post it though, so it's a long way off yet. (As a byproduct, this means that I'll never post the fic unfinished lmao)

This story has spawned an AU that somehow manages to be darker. It's still in the ideation phases (brainrot spam to all of my whump friends on discord, rip them), so it'll be a little while before you see much posted about this one :3

My friend I recently made a lot of progress on Satanus Magus! We have basically the whole plot figured out, it just needs to be beefed up with some scenes. I look forward to writing that all out in the word doc void :)

My friend and I actually hope to publish this irl one day, so, That's A Thing!

It's an older idea of mine, it spawned in around 2018... But getting out of school and into this community has really boosted my creativity (bouncing ideas around is a powerful tool). It's like an action movie, but instead of guns and explosions, it's elemental magic and explosions!! It's not an outright whumpy fic, but ofc bc I'm involved, there are definitely a lot of whump themes.

Lastly, I have a new fic idea kicking around in my head involving a vampire and a human. It's still veeeerrryyy early days for it, but I'm already in love with the concept, and I have been sorely lacking in vampire whump for many years. I look forward to working with Malté and Corwin >:3c though I'm sure the same eagerness is not extended back -rubs my evil little handses together-

A whumpee getting tangled and/or ensnared in something they can't get out of

A painful mobility impairment as a result of a traumatic injury

Delirium and panic where they don’t recognise their friend/caretaker, maybe they’re waking up from a nightmare, and they lash out at their friend/caretaker-- most fun with nightmares/night terrors ;DD

Ab00se (but like, not romantic relationships)

Nonhuman whumpees (mer and vampire/demon whumpees are where it's at tbh)

Painful transformation (and the aftermath, especially if the whumpee ends up Different than they were Before)

Bonus points for terrified, horrified, and very uncoordinated bb getting used to their new body and having an awful time

Secret based whump where bad things happen if anyone ever finds out whumpee's secret

An injury jeopardising the secret-- the secret needs to be revealed it to treat the injury

A whumpee going stupidly far to hide a secret, leading to a dramatic collapse and injury/scar reveal :D

A secret reveal gone badly never fails to give me whumperflies <3

I love it when circumstances are what leads to the whump. Not all of my whumpees have whumpers at all times, and where the whump comes from often fluctuates, but a common theme of my works is that the whump is primarily a product of circumstance that enables my characters to be whumped, whether by another person (whumper), or otherwise.
