Whumpmas in July Day 9: "Stay with me."
A light, but constant slapping on his clammy cheek. The hand doing it is pleasantly cool on his hot face.
His skin is only hot, because that hand had punched him in that very cheek minutes ago. He just remembered. His theeth hurt. Or maybe it had been hours? He doesn't know.
The touch agitates the bruise. It's not pleasantly cool anymore. It's cruel and intimidating. The slaps get harder.
A voice slowly reaching his attention, as do other details. His arms are bound over his head, his shoulders are burning. He's hanging limply in his restraines. His shoulder joints are about to pop. Pain crawles over his body like a colony of ants. His feet hardly reaching the floor.
His head hangs down to his chest, his eye lids are heavy. Something is dripping from his mouth, his nose, his chin. Everything hurts.
He is hot and cold, clammy and tired. His eyes refuse to cooperate.
The slapping's getting harder, more demanding. The voice's getting louder, more agitated.
"... me."
It's slowly getting through the haze in his hurting head.
" ....ay ..w...me!"
His head is lifted by a painful grip around his jaw. A firm slap, definitely the whole palm this time. His cheek burnes like fire. His head snaps to the side, eyes fly open in a haste. The fingers on his chin are gone. Everything spins, nausea hijacks his stomach.
"STAY WITH ME!" An angry voice shouts. His ears are ringing. Everything hurts even more with the senses of hearing and seeing overstimulated all of a sudden. A low groan is all he can produce, while the blurry colors in front of him slowly shift into a face with a cruel smile. The voice is calmer now.
"Ah, there you are. Fun isn't over yet."

WIJ Day 6
Hold On
The training officer from WIJ Day 9 last year makes a reappearance! He's still terrible!
Contains: military whump, abuse of power, whumpee forced to hold still for their own pain
Kai was led into the punishment cell with a firm hand on their back, pushing them into the centre and locking the door behind them. It was furnished like all the other rooms specifically set aside for punishing cadets, bare concrete walls and floor with a drain set into it. They were directed to strip their shirt off as soon as they entered, and they folded it neatly, setting it down on the metal table at the side of the room.
Colonel Norsaq pointed to the back wall, where a metal ring hung nailed into the concrete. "Grab that, and hold onto it for your whipping." His voice was flat, bored almost, and Kai hurried to follow the order before he could find another mistake to punish them for.
The metal was cold, but they could feel it starting to warm in their grip already. It was slightly rough, like it was just starting to rust after the top layer had worn off, even if it wasn't visible yet. It was high, still reachable but they had to lift onto the balls of their feet if they wanted to keep a good grip. They quickly glanced around their room, confirming their suspicions. The room was equipped with hooks and eyelets set into the walls in the same places as every standard punishment cell, and the ring replaced one where they usually found themself cuffed to.
"You do remember what you're being punished for, don't you, cadet?" The colonel asked. "No need to repeat it for me, just keep it in mind as I do this. Just like we agreed on earlier, twenty lashes with the standard whip, then twenty more with this—" He grabbed their hair to pull their head to the side, showing them a short whip with many thin tails interwoven with small spikes.
"Yes sir," Kai replied in a low voice, pressing their lips into a thin line and trying not to show any reaction that could be interpreted as a protest. They knew they were just being hurt because this officer wanted to hurt them, and at least he didn't make them have to come up with an excuse for him on the spot. They know what he does by now, always picking on them, assigning them stupid impossible tasks just so he could hurt them for their inevitable failure. He claims that he pushes the best and most promising cadets to help them achieve more, but these people say a lot of things about what they do that shouldn't be believed. And, they were certain that when he told them of their punishment earlier, he hadn't mentioned the second set of twenty lashes with a worse whip.
"No need to count," He casually informed them just before the first line of pain flared across their back. Usually, not having to count out loud and be worried about making a mistake made things easier, but with Colonel Norsaq, they knew that only meant he was going to go over the count, and there was nothing they could say about it without just inviting more punishment. They counted anyway, even if they wouldn't know when it will end. They just hated not knowing exactly how much they have taken.
Holding on was easy for the first thirty or so lashes with the standard whip. They gripped the metal hard, wrapping their fingers around it so their nails pressed into their palms. The cold concrete they rested their forehead on helped make the burning in their back easier to take, and they leaned some of their weight against the wall, making it not too difficult to stay off their heels so their hand wouldn't slip. When the colonel switched to the spiked whip, however, the light but sharp pain kept growing and building, and they squirmed more and more as the count neared twenty but they knew it wouldn't be over yet. Their fingers loosened and tightened around the ring again and again, adjusting their grip every few seconds. Their calves were starting to cramp, and they shifted their weight from one leg to another, hoping to keep it as subtle as possible. Finally, they earned a hard crack of the whip against the back of their wrists, and they held their breath, trying to discern if the itchy feeling travelling down their arm was just a reflex from the pain or blood trailing down. They had let go of the ring with one hand, instead holding onto the wrist of the other that was still on the ring. Apparently that wasn't enough 'holding on' for Norsaq, and he made it known. Kai returned both hands to the ring, knuckles white with how hard they now held it, trying not to twitch or fidget. Maybe they were distracted, but the rhythm of the hits didn't feel quite as constant as when it started, and it was difficult to even focus on the pain. They closed their eyes and hummed, letting their mind latch onto the vibrations between their lips, blocking out the sensations in their hands, letting their muscles keep themselves still without thinking.
When Norsaq finished, he stood back and watched in silence for a few long minutes. Without being given permission to let the ring go, Kai trembled and held their position, too scared to make any sounds, just in case he decided they haven't been punished enough. At least, when he finally left the room, he offhandedly told them they could come down now, and closed the door behind him so they could collapse to their knees in privacy.

Who is your Favorite Whumpee?? day 5
I get to gush about my favorite characters- omg yes. The order is from ones I found years ago to ones now! @whumpmasinjuly
First of all, Bee's lovely Zee @deluxewhump
ZeeZee I first read about March 2020- wow when quarantine hit, coincidence?? I loved Zee immieditaly , he was the first whumpee I ever really read for! And ahhh. I loved coming back to check on him, even asked a couple anon questions, and was shook when Bee answered within the same hour. Like omg she could make time for an anon question like mine?? So thank you for that haha. But back to Zee. A broken, quick-to-please whumpee who I just wanted to give a big hug and I will forever recommend Zee's story for anyone looking for a new BoxBoy whumpee.
The only other whump story I found before making tumble in 2021 was Danny by @ashintheairlikesnow
Ok... where do I start... probably with the writing in general. Ash is such an incredible writer and wow. WOW. As a younger writer looking for scraps of writing I could get a hold of, I found Ash's writing absolutely addictive. I'd come back to it again and again, rereading everything from the series. (For reference I rarely reread books and have only done so with 3... maybe 4??) But Danny was such a defiant whumpee but he broke so beautifully. And his recovery with his loved ones makes my heart melt. 100000000/10
Ok I don't remember this story very well- but LOVED it and told everyone I highly recommended it- Martin, @redwingedwhump
Ok so from what I do remember (I need to reread it...) It's about Martin, who was the perfect enslaved man from a very rich family. But suddenly was thrown into a gladiator circle. The poor torment he had to go through, his trainer annoyed by his slowness and having to retrain him, made him understand this place wasn't for smiles but for blood. Again guys if you're at all interested in it go read the first chapter!! It's so so good and highly recommend!!!
Someone who kinda start at the same time as me and showed us lab whump, Subject 17 by @only-shadows-dwell-where-we-are
Pretty sure the first story I requested for a taglist because it was so good. Shadow's writing is so.. detailed?? Like I was so impressed at all the medical terms and just nodding along like haha ya I understand?? So incredible. Unlike other bbu stories, Subject 17 is VERY aware he's being tortured and doesn't like it. Love love love. SO so very much.
Ok, the best recovery series here- Coriander @maracujatangerine
Ya, I have yet to talk to you... but my goodness your writing. But y'all when I tell you I binged like 54 posts... I was so hooked I can't. I CAN'T. Their writing is so lovely and whenever I go to read the recent update on the story I have a stupid smile on my face. Coriander is the sweetest, sweetest boy ever and I love him so much and would kill to protect the bby I love him... too much.
Last but CERTAINLY not least... my newest story obsession favorite villain whumpee, Haze by @whumpwillow
Oh my gosh... oh my gosh... how do I begin. Willow... you're the reason I am able to say hero and villain whump is my FAVORITE trope because of the way that you write it. I haven't seen much villain and hero stuff around here, and when I do I always enjoy it, but your story just... the concept of it I've never thought of. Haze is not a meh villain but a downright evil villain now bowing at the whims of furious heroes. He's such a lovely whumpee, so perfectly broken and the half recovery half whump I'm sure is only traumatizing him more. Yes, I love him so much... and I love you *mwuah*
Y'all go read these stories, or at least check out one of them out, these authors deserve the hype

Whumpmas in July: Day 13
Tumblr media
13. Share a sneak peek of something you’re working on.
This is a little different than what I usually post here. It's in first person, and is intended to eventually be a book. Not exclusively whump, but a good deal of it interspersed with some comfort.
CW: implied lab/medical whump, forced sedation
---
Everything hurt.
Even with my eyes closed, the lights were too bright. The gentle movement of the air against my skin felt like I was being scraped raw. The quiet conversations around me were an assault on my ears.
I couldn’t help myself.
I screamed.
This made absolutely nothing better. The talk around me went from quiet conversation to frantic dialogue, people talking over one another in their urgency to be heard. I couldn’t understand what they were saying; I caught only fragments, stray words.
“Don’t understand—”
“—why is—”
“—results?”
“Unexpected—”
“—the noise—”
“—sedative!”
Something stung my neck, and I fell into merciful unconsciousness.
-------
I still hurt when I woke again. This time, though, it was less all-consuming. It was agony, but there was space in my mind for thoughts beyond the pain.
I managed to open my eyes this time. There were people milling about, all in the same type of loose-fitting, nondescript clothing. Some were gesturing emphatically to each other; others were looking at various instruments displaying… something.
I tried to move. The effort brought a small whine to my lips, limbs letting their displeasure at moving be known. The trouble and the pain were for nothing: I couldn’t move.
I looked down at myself. I was laying on some kind of table. Straps went over my chest and hips and circled my hands and feet. Some kind of restraints?
I pulled one arm experimentally, wrist flexing against the strap. It was padded, soft enough to prevent bruising, but still plenty strong to keep me in place.
I did not want to be kept in place. I didn’t want to be there at all.
I pulled harder against the strap. My panic rose along with the lingering pain, and both threatened to overwhelm me. A small whimper escaped.
That brought me to the attention of one of the people in the room. They looked at me, eyes widening and pointed ears twitching. A sharp scent, bright, almost metallic, rose off them.
“It’s awake!” they shouted.
The sharp-bright scent permeated the rest of the room, stinging my nostrils. It was practically strong enough to taste.
I pulled harder at the restraints. I wanted them off, I wanted to get out of here I wanted to be gone who were these people where was I what was happening no no nonono—
The light fled from the room, replaced by growing tendrils of darkness. They crept around me, curling protectively over me. I felt them slide between my skin and the restraints, creating a barrier between me and the source of my panic. I calmed at their touch.
The others in the room did not have the same reaction. They started shouting, voices overlapping into an incomprehensible kaleidoscope of sound. Here and there phrases jumped out of the jumble: code black, insufficient sedative, higher dosage, need help.
Another sting in my neck had me falling into unconsciousness again.
---
This is set in the same universe as my whump series No Prisoners, which you can find here.

Whumpmas in July Day 5 - Favorite Whumpees
@ashintheairlikesnow 's whumpees are all so good but Jameson holds a special place in my heart. Something about his anger and resilience but the way he just melts around those he loves...
@redwingedwhump 's everyone. Obsessed with all of her stories. But especially Alec the Tiefling (he's just a sweetheart!), Yves (the sexy vampire of my dreams), and Riley (who's also just a sweetheart)!
@hold-him-down 's Leo. He's a professional at stealing my heart and breaking it in half.
@peachy-panic 's Jaime. Also stole my heart and broke it in half.
@deluxewhump 's everyone! All of her whumpees are incredible and exactly my type. Carlo, Zee, Matteo, Bo... they all got me in a chokehold.
And there are so many more that I just adore!

Whumpmas in July Day 14:  Describe the ideal fic you’ve always wanted to read but have yet to find or haven’t written yet.
I'm not that sure about this one. And I'm even more insecure in writing one like it on my own.
I love all kinds of whump, but I actually prefer a whump taking place in our time, reality and one that's pretty realistic.
It makes identifying and enduring in empathy kind of easier. I do like it so much more, when I can feel it all just by reading it. Then the whumperflies are crawling under my skin :-)
I like a strong whumpee, who is brought to his knees, to his breaking point. It doesn't matter if it's through an actual whumper or just from circumstances. But I do love a bleeding stab wound, one or more gunshots and just the good old blunt trauma.
The most important part for me is, that he suffers while trying to be strong. Reasons don't matter, he just needs to have a strong will, that'll keep him upride until fading energy and the whole situation taking their toll on him. I'd love that soooo much!
Please bring him to the brink of death. I'm a sucker for cpr. Can't help myself, but when the thready pulse turns into a flatline and a bunch of people fighting for that particular whumpee, probably even cracking ribs while doing so, I'm more than happy.
Gimme me more of that, please ;-)

Lost - WIJ Day 3
Tumblr media
@whumpmasinjuly
CW. political themes, discussion of potential for war, onset of a panic attack, plane hijacking, manhandling, threatening with a gun, detonation of an explosive, kidnapping
--
Dawn brought a wave of warmth passing over Tariq’s skin, the smell of moss, and awfully bitter coffee.
“Mr. Rahman, we’re back soon.”
As the coffee-maker dinged lightly, Tariq watched the co-pilot snatch the pot and top off his paper cup. He returned a tired smile and thanked him as the earthy scent reached his lungs.
It didn’t matter that the forest near the plane’s landing was so torrid that he could barely breathe or that the heat was eating him alive. If he needed anything right now, it was coffee.
He had landed no more than thirty minutes ago. The Captain had mentioned something about needing to make a couple calls on the ground and, with the co-pilot out cold, they had rerouted to a runway built near a massive stretch of forest and a little lake that had put Tariq off
He drank slowly, letting the bitter liquid wash away the crackly feeling in his throat.
Not my best idea, Tariq admitted to himself a minute later. This suit’s already clinging to me.
Suits, suitcases, jackets folded away into the little plastic cabinets. There were more pleasant things than spending hours lightheaded and nauseous while reading and rereading his script, letting every word ring in his mind. Conjuring up reactions of the politicians.
“Look alive, people. Only a few hours left.” The pilot tossed a glance back to the diplomat, idling still over his coffee, pretending not to have heard.
Tariq ran after the party as they left the cabin. An unfamiliar jet caught his eye across the field and he began to look for someone to ask about that. The group was walking too fast, though. He felt as if he might get lost in the fog.
It’s just anxiety. Deep breathing. They already know about the other jet so there’s no use in asking about it, right?
Though, it was he who was going to sit in a conference of strangers and try to dissolve tension which - if it snapped - would end worse than his speech did.
Tariq knew the neighbouring attack had been a false flag operation. He knew that. A lousy bid by a weaker nation to get a stronger one to mobilize against his own and it would be his job to assure their allies that exploitation was far from their intentions. That they wouldn’t meddle in another nation’s affairs. He knew that.
He wasn’t sure if they knew that.
After boarding the jet, Tariq flinched a bit as the door spun, shut, and clicked in place. There was something about boarding airplanes that threw him off of his balance and made him hesitant to stand up for any reason.
Today, especially.
Tariq took his own seat and buckled up as the pilots disappeared into the cockpit and the guards to the back. It was then he noticed that his fingertips were quivering a bit.
I really need to stop drinking that.
Swearing quietly, he stood and left for the bathroom, giving the guards a nod on the way. They split and let him pass. He slipped into the stall and let the door shut him in with a small, suctioning click.
The bathroom here was larger than they usually were on public planes and he was grateful for the space the government could afford him. Especially now, where he might keel over if he didn’t get a few precious minutes of silence and solitude. A curtain was oddly pulled at the back of the stall but Tariq hardly acknowledged it.
Instead, he watched his hands wander to the sink, as if they were detached from his body, and then unconsciously hunched over.
Five things you can see.
His mind replayed what the agent had said earlier that week, about anxiety and keeping collected before things like this. It was just he never had to do something like this and with the fluttering in his chest, he breathed in gulps. His fingertips were cold. Sweat, there was enough on his face. Enough he could feel it cool.
What if this ends badly?
Four things you can touch.
“Two nations, already plagued with a history of-...” Tariq gasped and clutched the metal sink harder until his head stopped spinning. Nope. Again. “Plagued with a history…”
Three things you can-
We can’t handle fucking armed conflict right now. I need to do this right.
“I encourage our allies to ignore the belligerence-” Suddenly, rustles from behind him broke his train of thought.
“Need a little help?” A dark voice asked from behind the curtain.
Tariq didn’t react quickly enough. By the time he had jumped up, a rough hand had already grabbed and pressed him back against the bathroom wall. Another hand clamped over his mouth, pressing so roughly against his jaw he thought it might crack. A knee between his legs, and his assailant’s face so close to his he could feel his satisfied exhale.
“Mmph-!”
“Well? Do you need a little help, diplomat?” the man repeated in a dangerous whisper. Tariq’s panic almost whited out his vision but he caught a glimpse of the man. His hair fell almost to his shoulders in clean but untamed strands, framing his sunglasses. He stood, frozen, as if his limbs had stopped working.
Trembling under the crushing grip on his face, Tariq’s eyes flickered to his mouth where he saw the remnants of a white scar.
Before he could struggle, his assailant grabbed him by the shoulder to spin him around. The other one brought a cold hum of metal against his throat followed by a soft click. Tariq couldn’t stop shaking, suddenly fearing that if his heart hammered too hard against his ribs, that it might set the gun off.
He couldn’t remember a word of his closing remarks.
The man smiled back nonchalantly at his white terror. “Now, are you going to do anything stupid?”
Tariq made a sound of fear low in his throat. The weapon vibrated in response. “N-No.”
“Excellent. Now, in a moment, you and I are gonna walk out of this stall together. And when we get out-”
BANG.
Tariq felt himself jolt back and yelp at the shockwave of whatever had just been set off outside the door but the man didn’t let him go far, gripping him roughly as if he didn’t appreciate the exclamation. Tariq’s breaths came in pants now, his shaking no longer controlled. “What the fuck?”
His assailant tsked under his breath. “Do not panic. Open the door, Mr. Rahman.”
Tariq’s eyes had glazed over when the door swung open and what greeted him was smoke. Smoke, wreckage, and blood splatters on the windows of the jet, groaning from too many directions. His eyes darted around frantically, searching for a guard but found none who were standing.
A few windows had been blown open. One of the women lay on the ground, clutching her eyes and breathing in stuttered gasps. One of them must have been a flash bang.
“Nobody move!”
“Except you,” the man reminded him coldly, nudging him forward with the pistol. “Keep stepping forward until you find the exit.”
“Hands up or you die!”
“O-oh, God.”
Tariq felt a chuckle against his back. “He won’t save you here, Mr. Rahman.”
Forcing his legs to move, he dragged himself forward through the fog in trembling steps as unfamiliar faces swarmed the jet. Tying, threatening, growing more and more distant from him. He should have fought back, screamed, warned the guards before the grenade had gone off, and attempted to kick off his attacker. Bitten him. Something.
“What do you want?” He whispered, knowing the man was close enough to hear him.
But he knew he couldn’t have done a thing.
"You’ll find out soon enough.”
Tariq kept moving forward robotically until he could no longer see anything, losing himself in the smoke.

I’m not sure if this will be a new series but I started it last year and never posted it. Let me know if you would like to be tagged in the future!
