About Yor: she isn’t dense, but most likely indoctrinated by Garden

So I wanted to address this for a long while now, because I’ve seen one too many posts talking about Yor like she’s just an aloof assassin who doesn’t care about things outside her direct environment, which is why sometimes she says dense things. 

I’m well aware that she’s a fan favorite so people don’t mean her harm, yet I think the whole story actually hints at way more than her being dense, especially considering her background and who she still works for. 

In other words, since Yor was trained but also half raised by Garden’s leader, the Shopkeeper, it’s likely that, considering how they operate and what they’re about, they instilled in her a conditioned dependency since childhood or teenage years that would make her unable to learn things on her own without asking for their opinion, making it very hard for her to turn against them ever. 

Want a striking example? Her encounter with Melinda Desmond. 

Not only did she not know who Melinda was (but I mean, that at least could be understandable)...

...but she also didn’t know what a First Lady is. 

Sure, it’s funny on first glance, but after thinking about it, what does it betray? That Garden probably made sure over years Yor would never get the slightest basic info and understanding on what politics of this country are all about. Because if their strong soldiers start to get opinions of their own, then they could start disagreeing with Garden and turning on them. So, “let’s prohibit people having free thinking, so that they can remain good little pawns” as we “fight for peace in our country”.

In fact, for Yor, until a short time ago (when she met Loid and Anya), all she did was thought and decided for her by Garden and, to this day, she still voluntarily asks them for their agreement when she opens up her close circle little by little: she asked them if it was okay to marry Loid and then she asked them if it was okay to befriend Melinda. 

To be honest, that’s a scary ass thought process to envision, when Yor’s an independent working lady well into her 20s, but this shows how deep Garden’s indoctrination runs in Yor, since they got hold of her as a child/young teen. 

Another striking example is the way she always describes her job, in an almost childish way. Her nickname “thorn princess” aside, I always found it interesting that Yor’s aware she’s an assassin but she isn’t morally anguished at all about killing people and never mentions or distinguishes any grey area in her missions. In fact...

... it’s all in black and white and she clearly thinks that the people she kills are all evildoers (which as we saw in the recent arc with the Red Circus isn’t always the case and begs the rhetorical question “why does Garden get to decide who’s evil?”), therefore “she’s not doing anything wrong”, which also pretty much betrays how she was pushed into it. 

Long ago, Garden probably baited Yor with Yuri’s protection and told her that, since they’re “about peace”, Yor’s work would just help them to “fight against evil”. As a child, she wasn’t mentally fit to understand the deeper implications and then she was mentally conditioned to always do and think like Garden tells her to, which promotes this systematic childish description of her assassin’s job. 

Finally, please take notice of the Shopkeeper’s reaction the first time she tries to argue about her work, in the ship arc: 

Enough said, Garden’s awful. I’m sure there are more examples throughout the story, but I now want to talk about future character development. 

After all, since the story obviously calls for Yor to ditch Garden, to protect what’s actually important to her (Yuri, Loid and Anya), we actually do see her changing little by little so far, thanks to her living with Loid and Anya. Her coworkers quickly mentioned that she’s more lively ever since she got married and the ship arc overall emphasizes that her family is starting to become more important to her than her job, so there is high hope for Yor. :D

Additionally, while she’s still far away from noticing that Garden mentally drove her into a corner, she now openly voices her concerns that “she’s not normal” but that she wants to understand why in order to learn how to change. 

To be fair, fighting against indoctrination is tough and takes time so I’m very proud of her for slowly realizing that she ought to decide for herself from now on. :D 

TL;DR Yor is not dense. She was indoctrinated as a child by Garden and can only (for now) see the world through the filters they taught her. 

Ironically enough, the only character who knows about her real job and could, thus, notice that Yor isn’t being critical about Garden...... actually can’t because she’s a four year old who is too young to understand that Mama’s job is wrong. Well done, Endo-sensei!

Seems like Endo is busy, probably with 5th anniversary events, so we have another short mission today! But first we got this lovely new illustration of Anya with cherry blossoms~❤️

As for the chapter itself, it was cute. Since Bond doesn't talk, whatever he's thinking/feeling isn't always apparent, so chapters that focus solely on him are good to have now and then. Seems like the usual: he's still taking Loid's delegation of him as a guard dog seriously (perhaps too much so)...

...and he still thinks Yor would freak out if he makes a mess (still based on that miscommunication with Anya from chapter 40). However, I also thought it was cute that he wanted to do what Yor said about having a nice meal after "work" (keeping the postman away). Shows that he doesn't only see her as scary 😅

In the Japanese version, Penguinman's dialogue is written totally in katakana, which makes it even more creepy!

But as is typical of Endo, despite the cute, funny mood of this chapter, he manages to slip in a subtle moment of drama - in this case, we get a glimpse into the horrors of the lab that Bond came from.

Having scenes like this in otherwise light, comedic chapters really serves to flesh out the SxF world and its characters, even a simple, mute character like Bond. When we know the trauma that the characters have been through, it makes the wholesome moments that they experience feel all the more rewarding.

And just like the other Forgers, despite what he suffered through, Bond still wants to do good for others, even if it just means licking the wound of a rival.

About Spy x Family Chapter 83

Let’s talk about the latest chapter of Spy x family along with some traditional crazy theories. 

First of all, Twilight has been trained to kill the enemy and he was being attacked, so in theory, he should have killed Yuri, then...Why did Twilight hesitate? I think the whole fandom knows the answer...Could it be because of a certain person? *Coughs* YOR!

Mr. Spy has been compromised. He hasn’t realized it yet, but he’s in love.

Want further proof? Here he is in the middle of a fight, thinking about his wife 😏 Note about this: He must know at some level that Yor is different from other women. Otherwise, why did he ask himself that question?

And here Twilight was ready to do his job, meaning kill his enemy, an SSS agent who is ready to arrest him, torture him, and possibly kill him. I think at some point, he really thought about finishing him off, but then he hears a name...Yor.

And that changes everything.

He hesitated once, then the second time wasn't a hesitation, but a full conscious decision: Twilight knows it’s a risk to let Yuri live. He could discover him, but he still spares his life, not out of mercy, but out of love for his wife and his family (because Yuri is his family too).

Now about Yuri... I’ve mentioned this before, and this panel makes my suspicions stronger: Yuri will be the one who discovers Twilight’s identity. That kid is smart and if he starts putting the pieces together, he may end up discovering everything.

Also, I think Twilight not killing Yuri will be a deciding factor in the end. Right now Yuri is a KID. But at some point during the story, he’ll become an adult and will have to face some truths: That the SSS does bad things and that his brother in law is a spy. This is the point when Yuri will have to choose between duty and his family and I believe he will choose his family (at a great personal cost).

When this happens, things are going to get tough for Yuri, because the SSS high command sees him as a puppy who obeys and does the dirty work for them. What do you think it will happen when he doesn't obey? (This guy is scary 😟)

Plus, Yuri feels he owes his sister for sacrificing herself to raise him. That's why he wants to protect her: he wants to pay her back for everything she has done for him...and what better way to pay her back that to protect her family (husband and daughter).

On top of everything, he now (sort of) owes Twilight. Yuri thought he was going to die, that’s why he mumbled an apology to Yor. Once he discovers who Twilight is, he’ll know the reason why he wasn’t killed.

It’s going to be messy. 

Bonus: Did Twilight kick Yuri on the balls? Looks like Anya won't be having any cousins 🤣

First of all, I don’t agree with shinybluebirdwizard on that. I don’t think it’s good to ask which parent a child loves more, and I don’t think this needs to be discussed. You can’t quantify love, and people have different love languages.

Yor and Loid are very different in their parenting styles, and therefore it’s only normal that Anya respond to them very differently.

The fact is, shinybluebirdwizard themselves have stated how Yor is the stricter parent. In one of their posts, they pointed out that Yor would urge Anya to welcome Loid home properly (ch.67.2) and to eat all of her veggies (ch. 76). Yor is the one who really disciplines Anya.

Loid has always been “for the mission”. He’s strict when it comes to Anya’s academic performance. But it’s also quite evident that Anya plays him like a fiddle. Loid has mostly said yes to Anya. Unless she’s asking for a silenced pistol or a castle, then he might have to check if they are available.

Most recently, Twilight would even bring her to a meeting with the Handler just because she REALLY wants to play.

The fact is Anya would do this in front of Loid, but not really in front of Yor.

Because it’s stated right from the start: Yor is the scarier parent. 

At first she’s only scary because she is too strong and could break Anya’s ribs. She hasn’t, although shinybluebirdwizard did try to joke about why Anya doesn’t like Yor’s hugs as much in that certain post. But later, it’s also revealed that she’s also strict. 

I’m not shinybluebirdwizard - Judging from their previous posts, I could only guess being the scarier parent could be one of the reasons why they think Anya loves Loid more. But does that mean Yor’s not as good? Or does it mean that Yor is in fact the better parent?

That brings us back to what the question was. Anon asked shinybluebirdwizard who they think Anya loves more. I disagree with shinybluebirdwizard on this one, because it’s normal for children to behave better in front of the stricter parent. shinybluebirdwizard made another post about Anya being a daddy’s girl, and how she behaves differently in front of Loid and Yor. In that sense, it only means that Anya loves her parents in a different way, according to their different parenting styles. It doesn’t mean that Anya loves Loid more.

I think it’s important to recognise that the question was never about who is the better parent, because I’ve noticed people on Twitter or Tumblr are talking about how they don’t like shinybluebirdwizard reducing Yor’s role. Once again, the question is if Anya loves Loid or Yor more. Anon was not asking if shinybluebirdwizard thinks Loid or Yor is the better parent. Anon was not even asking if Anya thinks Loid or Yor is the better parent.

“Imagining how Anya feels about her parents” ≠ “how the blogger actually feels about Loid and Yor”

And therefore: “Saying Anya loves Loid more” ≠ “Loid > Yor”

Again, I don’t agree with them. I have already explained why I don’t like the original question. But if you attempt to answer this question, you would have to first imagine yourself as Anya. 

What (or how) does Anya think?

Anya is a four-year-old peanuts gremlin. In case you can’t tell that I don’t really mean that Anya is a menace - because obviously people could have screenshot it and put it on Twitter, taking my words completely out of context - I mean it in a loving way.

Sure, Anya has given her parents 100 points.

On the other hand, this is also Anya, telling her parents that she hates them and is running away.

Usually, four-year-olds just spurt out what they feel at the moment. If one day Loid and Yor decide that Anya is having too many peanuts and limit her peanut intakes, while Bond is willing to steal peanuts for her, I’d say Anya would think Bond is better than Loid AND Yor combined. Maybe until Loid makes her Hamburg steaks and Yor makes her hot cocoa.

Does that mean I’m reducing Loid’s and Yor’s roles? Does that mean that Bond is the best thing that has ever happened to Anya? Of course not. Anya can love Loid or Yor more for childish af reasons at a very specific moment. It’s also just how shinybluebirdwizard interprets Anya as a character. It’s not really about Yor, or Loid. It’s about Anya.

The thing is Anya doesn’t know what to expect from her parents.

Anya’s characterisation is not discussed much in the fandom, mostly because she’s smol. However, Endo did work on it. We’ve seen how Anya is slowly realising the importance of studying. We’ve also seen how people have been telling Anya that she should not make her parents worry in both the doggy crisis arc and the cruise arc.

Many have stated that they believe Twilight could leave the family immediately in ch. 84 if WISE orders him to do so. I honestly don’t know. What I do know is, Anya also doesn’t know. Anya’s expectation has been that the family could stay together if the mission is a success. The family would have to break up if the mission fails.

So we see this baby trying her absolute hardest to keep everyone’s secrets safe so she can keep her family together. This is pretty much her only expectation.

On the other hand, she doesn’t really know what to expect from her parents.

Damian had low expectations, but he’s still visibly upset that his parents didn’t come. Anya, on the other hand, had to keep herself optimistic and cheerful. She’s even excited just because she had a chance to ride on a police car.

You can’t tell who’s the better parent even if you ask Anya, because A. again, she’s smol; and B. she honestly doesn’t know what parents should do.

That is heartbreaking to see how much Anya is willing to do for her parents. She’s always trying to help, and she would even wait to confirm if her parents are okay before sneaking back to where she’s supposed to be.

I know people are angry at Loid because he’s emotionally constipated, but we will have to understand why Anya’s happy just because Loid’s there. Like father, like daughter. They are basically doing the exact same thing.

Anya and Loid are very similar in these panels. That doesn’t mean that Anya loves Yor less because they are less similar in expressing their feelings in these panels. On the contrary, this is why Yor IS important. Anya and Loid are keeping so many secrets, and that have affected their abilities to express their love/emotions. They need Yor because Yor is the only one who could freely express her feelings, despite also having her own secrets. She is the only one who knows what being a family should be like (compared to Anya and Loid, because Yuri is weird af).

I know it’s too late to state the following because shinybluebirdwizard has already deactivated their account. I hope they would come back with a new account because I’m maybe 2 days old finding out that deactivated Tumblr accounts can’t be reactivated.

Now it is totally okay if you disagree with me on this particular post, or how I interpret the story and the characters. You don’t need to agree with me on my opinion - I think shinybluebirdwizard is just joking when they’re making the post, and it’s not that serious. You can be unhappy that they are being unserious and unfunny. I’ve included links of their posts and hopefully they’d give you contexts - you can totally think they are bullshitting in those posts as well.

To give you more context, shinybluebirdwizard is a twiyor fan. I have reposted quite a lot of their posts in which they state that Twiyor is a good team, especially when it comes to parenting. I understand that some thought they’ve disrespected Yor, and it’s totally normal to be unhappy about it. Again, shinybluebirdwizard is quite unserious in the post, and I can see why people are not particularly happy with them listing silly reasons. But to be fair, shinybluebirdwizard has also made posts about how Yor is a good character and a good person.

Again, you don’t need to know everything to make a discussion. I definitely haven’t read all shinybluebirdwizard’s posts, because they’d make several new posts every day.

I also have the urge to facepalm every time I see someone trying to say they’re badmouthing Yor because they are Loid’s fan. Let’s be honest, they kinda shitted on (/s, because I finally understand someone really can’t tell) every character, including and especially Loid. The thing is everyone in this story is somehow flawed. That’s what makes them good characters, and that’s why we love them, but that also gives people different reasons to criticise all characters.

It’s fine to have disagreements.

I’m disappointed because how horrible people could be to another person just because they don’t agree on one (1) thing. Some had to dial it up to eleven because of one post, or maybe worse, some screenshots.

I’m also disappointed because some people made this post an opportunity to turn Loid’s fans and Yor’s fans against each other. It’s not like I don’t understand that there are extreme fans who would attack on every single character other than their most beloved. I’m just saying that people are capable of liking both.

Every one has the right to have the discussion and share their opinions. Please. Do it respectfully.

OKAY OKAY OKAY I HAVE A LOT TO SAY

alternate title is "Local anime only is introduced to the entity that is Shopkeeper".

MY GOD. I had no idea we'd see him so soon. I'm so glad his appearance is no longer a spoiler to me XD

To start with, Yor seems quite tense while she's going out to meet with him.

A detail that the anime omitted, is that it seems he was caught by surprise by Yor. Is she so stealthy she can even sneak up on him?

He's... omg he's scary. At the same time he's got one very smooth and sexy voice. I know we heard him on the phone but oh it's so different to hear him from up close. I'm going to feel very conflicted about him, methinks XD

Of course, when he talks about "pruning and watering" and stuff he definitely doesn't talk just about his garden :)

The music was perfect for his introduction. The garden we see around him looks so peaceful and serene, but the music greatly encapsulates that ominous feeling that "This guy is a LOT".

The fact that he's willing to risk decapitating her on the spot just in case she lost one (1) iota of her perfect form is terrifying. And he laughs about it. The fuck. And Yor has been working for him since she was a teenager? O_O

I mean, when I said he's got presence I didn't mean it's not a diabolical one. But holy shit.

Is... is that person in the back wearing a sheet over their head like they're pretending to be a ghost? I'm noticing the important details here!

Shopkeeper looks like he really holds this mission to great value, and feels greatly indebted to protect Olka. It's very interesting that he's entrusting this mission to Yor.

At the same time, we see his face as Yor says she'll need an excuse for the family, and he is NOT impressed.

Like geez does ANYONE in her circles not have negative feelings about this wedding? First Yuri then her coworkers then even Shopkeeper like does ONE person go like "That was a good decision you made"?

I mean, if Shopkeeper really values her... it's not like it doesn't look like he has the power to provide her with some cover. He looks so imposing and Yor is so okay with his tactics I doubt she hasn't told him the marriage was just for convenience, so why didn't he go like "Nah ditch them I'll give you the cover you need"? He looking kinda sus rn ngl.

Final detail: the thingies hanging from the strap of his hat are the same shape of Yor's earrings. Nice detail.

It's interesting that Yor's demeanor doesn't change around him. She's still as lively and sweet as we already know her.

I love how after we saw how Yuri stayed up for days to catch Perkin, he fell asleep like that on the subway. Consequences!

Talking about people in Yor's circles not accepting her marriage...

Yuri is even VERY audacious in how he says he'll never accept Loid. Yor is way too patient with him, but I guess she can't help it. She loves him too much for her own good, and that was evident by the way she decided to become an assassin just to provide him with an education she completely ignored for herself.

I was surprised by the flashing screen but seeing Yuri run for the train as if he could somehow pull it back was hilarious. What a lad.

Yor is just now wondering if there's any point in her keeping her assassin job, when it's been at least a year that Yuri has been financially independent. It really makes me wonder where her money from her jobs really goes to... and considering Shopkeeper's behaviour, if she even gets paid fairly as an assassin. I wouldn't rule out him taking advantage of her in that regard over the years.

So I think it would be interesting to consider that Shopkeeper is trying to keep Yor in his employ by uhm... idk, brainwashing her? With all that "keeping the world beautiful" and whatnot. I mean, she took that job out of need and having no other choice, she's very good at it, (probably) is okay with getting paid unfairly, and takes at least an entire year after Yuri became independent to question whether she should stay in this job. She's a good and willing workhorse, is all I'm saying. Shopkeeper wouldn't want to lose that, would he?

Again, that's just an anime-only's blabbers. But that's what's good with Endo's work - just from one character introduction you can get a lot of insight!

Anya looks so happy while in line for the raffle. I'm so happy she was able to rig the rigged contest and get herself a winning ticket.

I'd seen this face from people sending me spoiler-free manga screenshots, but I had never expected it to be a "Sucks to be you, bitch" kinda face. I love her XD

I do gotta say though, it's VERY convenient that she happened to earn a ticket for the exact same cruise Yor would be on. But I'm not complaining - I mean, we wouldn't have much of a story otherwise XD

If anything, it would not be out of the ordinary if Anya heard about the raffle, then heard from Yor's thoughts about the details of the cruise, then found a way to earn those tickets. But I digress.

Dear director. Why are we getting a full front view of Loid's ass. Not that I'm complaining, just curious.

I actually felt a little touched when Loid said Yor should go with Anya. Like I know it's because he has no "for the mission" excuse to go on the cruise and instead has an "I have a lot of work to do" excuse, but it still felt pretty sweet he thought they'd have fun together on the trip. Or something. Delusion what is that

I love their expressions here. Yor struggling with her excuse and Twilight, Best Spy of WestalisTM, being the lovestruck idiot he is, he just buys it.

I loved this. Devil Anya didn't even go for something "bad" she was just like "ANYA WANTS OCEAN, ANYA SHALL HAVE OCEAN."

At some point she's going to become the boy who cried wolf with how many times she's threatening to go bad if things don't go her way. Even Loid doesn't look that concerned by that "threat" any longer XD

I knew the cruise was happening, so I knew somehow Twilight would manage to get time off, but I didn't expect it would be that easy... and when we switched to Sylvia approving the vacation, the cowbell sound effect pretty much ended me

And... wow. I did not expect Twilight has that sort of fear for Handler.

In the manga we can even see how intense his face is.

Is that an accurate expectation or is it just Twilight's overreacting and overthinking mind? We saw how that's something Shopkeeper would definitely do with Yor but from what we know of Handler I would not expect something like that. I think it's mostly Twilight's perfectionism and dedication to his job, as well as how much he's accepted for it over the years. He's willing to accept anything, so he's always expecting the worst... even if it's not an accurate representation of reality.

It's also very coincidental that Handler was admonished for overworking her agents just as Twilight needed time off. It's probably Endo reminding us that deep down it's a comedy show and things just work and I'm just looking too deep into it XD

She's not wearing the rings anymore. Perhaps she caught on to the fact that they were given to her as a joke?

"Go rest and have fun! That's an order!"

Yor catches herself about thinking of having fun on the trip and berates herself.

Since she's already reached the point of accepting she appreciates her part in the family and not just for the cover it gives her, I think it gives an extra layer to how dedicated she is to doing a good job. She knows it's an important job she needs to take seriously and concentrate on. Family fun would be just a distraction... and she's not used to such distractions in her job, after all.

And yes Yuri was in her life, but he was always separate from the job. Now she's got the two of them riding on the same ship!

And that alone makes her reach the question of whether she could just... stop working as Thorn Princess. My god, good luck with that when you have such a boss O_O

SOME GOOD CGI ACTION OOOOOOOHHHHH

No wonder Anya lost it.

Yor looked so happy while next to Loid and Anya, then she met up with her coworkers and a completely different mask slipped on.

This family should come with a label that says "Do Not Separate".

A grand entrance to the ship, with suspicious characters joining in! And new music I'm not recognizing! Lots of interesting stuff :D

I love that we get to see Anya with Loid here. It's obvious Loid hasn't had fun in probably ever, and he's still not got the gist of "relaxing" yet.

I actually love the face he has in the manga. He almost looks... curious. Like this is something new to him, and it probably is. He doesn't have his usual calculating face. The "order" to relax was one thing, but maybe Anya's excitement is rubbing off on him.

Anya's reaction to their room was priceless. They showed it so well XD

Hey, at least they have a window! Most third-class rooms in ships don't even have that.

Local anime only is also finally introduced to that McMahon guy.

It's so funny that I've seen his name everywhere yet I had no idea what he looked like. Well, now I know XD

So we're told the father as well as the two oldest sons of the Gretcher family were killed because of infighting, yet it looks like the youngest member is still a baby.

Those are some interesting family dynamics. Were the sons mentioned this woman's sons, or was one her husband? Or was the boss her father and the sons her brothers? Also, interesting pin on the lapel there.

Similarly, this suit Yor is wearing is the only piece of clothing aside from her office clothes that doesn't have the rose-shaped buttons everything else she wears has.

The guy goes like yo will that Forger woman be enough and McMahon looks like he's like bruh you have no idea. She may be just one but she's enough for twenty.

The little kid is so cute. I felt touched when Olka said that he probably recognizes her as his mother from her voice and her scent.

Olka asks for a favour, to be let out for a bit, and Yor is kind and empathetic enough to indulge her. Most other bodyguards wouldn't be so lenient. Though I guess this is what, in the end, causes her to be caught...

Anya is being Anya.

One (1) stomach ulcer acquired.

I loved how they put shadows on his face for this part.

He's fully prepared to treat the ship as a place where he may be attacked, and to gather as much intelligence as he can for his surroundings. That is, until Anya reminds him why they're there.

And he takes it upon himself to have the most fun ever! For the mission!

I think we will all lose our minds when this man bursts into genuine, uncontrollable laughter. We're clowning him now but when such real emotion bursts out of him I think we won't be able to handle it.

It's a small moment, and it's shown in a comedic way, but it's also heartbreaking to know how he genuinely doesn't know how to have fun. What does this man enjoy watching? What music does he like? What foods are his favourites? We don't know, and the sad part is, he doesn't either. Twilight has no identity and thus no preferences, no profile and no favourite things.

Leave it to me to take a humorous scene and turn it into crying about Twilight hours.

At least Twilight isn't the only one lying to himself. Like two peas in a pod, they're trying to distance themselves from the family. Meanwhile Anya and Bond are like "They are my fambly and I'll love them forever :3"

You kind of feel for Olka. Regardless of whether she was born or married into the criminal family, it's the kind of life you can't leave easily. And I mean, morality issues aside, Yor's hands are not clean either, so it was sweet to see them bond, and to even have Olka entrust her with Gram's real name.

Sadly, this move of trust is what caught the attention of dude with long beard and impressive hearing.

Just like the way Franky describes Garden assassins, this guy looks to have some supernatural levels of hearing and comprehending, since he's monitoring dozens of listening devices at the same time and still manages to hear one word that tips him off to who his target is posing as.

Overall, an amazing introduction to this new arc! I'm so excited to see the plot and the characters develop, and especially some long-overdue focus on Yor! It's promising a lot of action and character and even humor with Anya dealing with a "gotta relax and have fun!" Loid. Can't wait :D

My thoughts on Spy x Family Chapter 83

Needless to say, my folks, huge manga spoilers ahead 🌹

Oh, boy, I was totally wrong! He he, but also, I got some things right!

No more guns, thanks, Lord! What was this wait? I was anxious, trying to keep my head off the upcoming update, and It was successful, I relaxed a little bit and BOOM, Sunday came, and I didn't even realize It was chapter's day, until I saw the notification on my smartphone and read it all in 10 seconds (have I mentioned I'm diagnosed with anxiety? No? Okay, yeah).

Now I'm trying to analyze a little bit of this week's chapter with you all while trying to stay sane till the next one, may Endo help us! So, I got a few hypotheses right! Actually, I believe only one 🤣

No revelations yet!

Which is something I'm really grateful for, even though we can not be sure if it will happen in the next chapters, I truly believe it won't. I feel like it's not the moment, the manga is at its peak (so is the anime) gaining a huge amount of notoriety and I don't Believe Endo would rush things, not right now. So I'm glad, I really feel revelations will make the story take a huge turn that we are not quite ready for it. There's so much to happen yet! What is the Garden? Which side is the organization it? What about Westalis? We know nothing. Spy x Family is a huge slow burn, and I'm all in for it.

Twillight is the one hurt, I'm surprised, truly. Yuri is quite a soldier, however, the hesitation present there was bigger than Twilight's ability, reflex and advantage (since he was the one pointing the gun first). My heart truly hurts for seeing him injured, I can't even explain. We've grown fond of our Spy, and It's not a nice feeling. At all

I know, I know he will be fine, he can't die or anything (haha, can he?😨) But still, it is making my heart hurts. In need for those "Yor takes care of Loid's wounds" fanfictions, please? Moving on.

See? Our Twilight is a smart guy. He senses his wavering. He knows it is there, but he doesn't understand why. He can't figure that by hurting (or killing) Yuri, he would deeply hurt Yor, and he would not do that. His unconscious is pretty clearly messing up with his conscious mind and decision-making. I doubt he will bring that up to the Handler, but it's possible, since they know each other very well. My guess is that Sylvia will just know. He won't even say a word and she will know.

Yeah, Yuri boy, I would totally be creeped out as well. His ability is outstanding and scary, even.

See? This guy had this major hypothesis (which is right?) figured in like, 5 seconds? He is so bright, Yor is proud as floof as she should. Yes, Yuri, he is someone close to you, someone observing you.

"But that doesn't matter now!" It will surely matter once you find out, but my guess is that he will keep that insight for himself, trying to figure it out on his own, but who knows? It will certainly be on his head, constantly.

Yuri on his fight mode is scary (not as much, but it is), just like his sister. I believe one of Endo's objectives is to make us scared of the Briar's brothers and damn, boy, yeah. I don't like that "I will kill everything on my way" expression.

This was such on point. I loved it, I mean, his floofing daughter is being raised by Yor, so I would consider it a huge plus. Besides, he is thinking of her consciously right now. It's not his unconscious, unknown feelings and thoughts. He is rationalizing and that's major.

Yeah, that resilience is not even NORMAL anymore. Mama Yor, can you pick me up? I'm scared 😨

Oh, well, okay, that's expected. Poor Yuri is going to be so hurt after this. I'm wondering if Yor will know about his or Twilight's injuries, she is not as bright as his brother, but she can think about it later, can't she? I wonder If Yuri will visit her while recovering. The tension in the air if Loid is also on this meeting. Damn. This was so much better than a revelation or a simply hurt Twilight. This growing tension makes things so much better (and torturing).

And this expression right here is a Twilight on Twilight Conflicted Mode. Yeah, I just made that up, but he is clearly conflicted, may be in pain and not getting understanding a single thought coming from his mind. Only focused on getting out of there, leaving that behind.

You couldn’t just stand by and do nothing…

A few meters in front of you, a group of teenage boys were harassing a little girl. Now that just won’t do. 

You rushed forward and shoved the biggest of the boys out of the way, and he barely stumbled back. 

The little girl looked so scared…you picked her up in your arms and glared at the boys, “What? You can’t take on someone your own size so you mess with a little girl? Real low, you creeps.” And you tried to walk away with the little girl. 

The boys all laughed, and a couple pulled out knives. 

The little girl began to cry, and screamed “MAMA! PAPA!” 

You shushed her to comfort her and tried to run, but one of the boys grabbed you, trying to take the girl out of your arms. 

“We’re gonna take that little one there. She goes to that big fancy school, that outfit could make us lots of money.” 

Before anything else could happen, the girl looked up at you and smiled. “They’re here.” She said. 

A man and woman rushed up, and took care of the boys within a matter of seconds, before turning to you. 

You set down the young girl, and she ran over to her parents. They looked so scary for a moment, before melting at the sight of their little girl all safe. 

The woman glared at you over the girl’s head, but the girl spoke to calm her “Mama! This person saved me! They came just in time and tried to fight the bad guys but they were scary!” 

The look on the woman’s face turned soft, and she bowed to you “Thank you for saving our Anya.” 

You giggled softly “I didn’t do much. If you two hadn’t come in and saved the day I could have been badly hurt…but I promise I would have done anything to protect her.” 

Now the man looked at you, assessing you with his eyes before he walked over to you and shaked your hand. “We’re the Forgers. I’m Loid, this is my wife Yor, and our daughter Anya. Thank you for trying to protect her.” 

Anya looked to her parents, before turning to you. Something like gear turning happened in her head and she swayed towards you, “Oh, how I wish I had a babysitter. Mama and Papa can be so busy, they would pay really well, but how will I ever find someone to babysit me?” And she fell against you, causing you to hold her to prevent her from falling over. 

Loid and Yor deadpanned at her antics, and you spoke up, “Babysitter…?” And you turned to the couple, “If you need someone to babysit her, I actually have some experience!” 

Yor walked towards you and beamed, “Someone who would do anything to protect our Anya is trustworthy enough to watch her! It would only be a few days a week, and I promise we can pay well!” She grabbed your hands, and smiled wide at you. 

“Well…I’m in school, but it’s all online! If I would be able to work on homework while I babysat her it would be perfect!” And you smiled back at Yor to match her own smile. 

Loud patted Anya’s head and stepped towards you as well. “It’s settled then, when can you start?” 

And that’s how you began to work for the Forgers. It was perfect, and you harbored feelings for the couple after spending not just time with them, but Anya as well. 

To them, the fact that you had such a good relationship with their daughter meant the world. It only caused them to like you so much more…

Today, you were having dinner with the Forgers, sometimes you did a couple times a week after they returned from work. 

It was…quiet. They seemed to be thinking deeply about something. Anya looked back and forth between the three adults, and she said, “Mama…Papa…can they live with us?” 

They both looked shocked at the question, before Loid spoke up, “Well Anya…that would be up to them. They have been babysitting you for a couple months, it would be nice to have them here all the time.” 

There was some type of hidden meaning behind his words, but you couldn’t decipher it. 

Yor looked at you and smiled, with a light blush on her face, “What do you say? Would you like to live with us and work for us full time?” She looked hopeful, and her leg was bouncing up and down, as a nervous tick.

“I-I would love to!” You beamed at them, and they looked relieved to hear your answer. 

Anya hopped up and scooted your chair out, hopping in your lap, “Yay! Anya has a babysitter all the time! And mama and papa can spend even more time with them!” Both looked flustered at the outburst. 

Loud frowned, “Anya, finish your dinner.” He said to her in a scolding tone, but the glimmer in his eyes showed it to not be too serious. 

“Mkay!” She said. 

After that…it seemed as if the Forgers were home more often. They took a couple days off work to help you get moved into their home, and you found you liked them very…very much. 

It wasn’t until someone tried to break into your home that you realized just the extent they liked you too. 

It was a normal day, you took Anya to school as usual and Loid and Yor were both at work. You heard the door knob jiggle from your spot on the couch. That was weird…it sounded like someone was trying to get in. But Anya wasn’t supposed to get off the bus for another couple hours, and Loid and Yor both had keys. It didn’t take this long to unlock the door…

You walked over to the door, and pressed your ear against it. 

“Damn thing…come on…open…” 

That wasn’t their voices.  

You panicked and called out “HEY! GET OUT OF HERE THIS ISN’T YOUR APARTMENT!” 

The jiggling didn’t stop. In fact, it seemed to get more vigorous. 

Without thinking twice, you called Loid. Please…please pick up. 

He answered quickly “Hello? Is this an emergency? I’m at work.” 

Tears started to fall down your cheeks, and you whispered back “Loid…I don’t know what to do someone’s trying to get into the apartment.” 

You heard something drop from the other side of the line, and he talked to you as calmly as he could, “I want you to push the couch against the door. I’ll be there soon, just stay calm. I need you to call Yor, she’ll come as soon as she hears.”

So you did, and the lock came undone on the door as soon as Yor hung up. She seemed to be on her way as well. The couch moved as the door came open more and more, and you used all your strength to hold the couch in its place. 

It only lasted a couple minutes, and you heard a grunt from the other side, before hearing Yor yell, “GET AWAY FROM OUR BABY!” Followed by noises of pain. 

“Yor!” You called, moving the couch out of the way. 

She didn’t answer, but you heard running up the stairs, which could have only been Loid. 

You slowly opened the door, and were met with the sight of both Yor and Loid beating this robber to a pulp. 

It was terrifying to say the least. 

But wait…did she call you…their baby?

You rushed over to them, and put your hand between them and the robber. “He’s…he’s beaten. You don’t have to hurt him anymore.” 

They turned to you with cold expressions, and Yor spoke up first, “He could have hurt you. He deserves this and worse.” 

Loid pitched in afterwards, “Someone so vile as to hurt you is in for a world of pain. If he even touched you…we’d kill him.” Before he realized his words and gave you a shy smile, “What I mean to say is…we love you. We’d do anything to protect you.” 

If they weren’t standing over a body, you might have blushed. But alas…there was a man who may not even be alive anymore at their feet. 

Yor stepped over the man and came to you, “We got you something!” She sounded way too happy for someone who may have killed a man. 

Loid walked over as well, “We got it a while ago…but now seems like as good a time as any.” And he pulled something out of his bag. 

It was wrapped, so you had no idea what it was. 

“Close your eyes dear.” He said. You didn’t wanna question them right at this very moment, so you did. 

You felt something wrap around your ankle. 

Opening your eyes, you looked down. Was that…a tracker?

“Loid! Yor! What is this?” You leaned down and tried to get it off, only to get a light shock sent through your leg. 

Yor smiled, and leaned in, giving you a quick peck to the lips. “Don’t worry, it’s just so we know where you are. Press that button on the side and it called us immediately. It will tell us if you’re in trouble.” 

You froze in place, “But…” You started.

“But nothing,” Said Loid, “Things could be dangerous for you. We want to keep you safe.” He put a hand to your back and led you into the apartment, leaving the man on the floor in the hallway. 

Yor followed you two, and Loid moved the couch back to its place, before sitting you down in the middle. 

Yor sat on one side, Loid on the other. They both held your hands, and you found yourself at a loss for words. 

“Don’t worry baby,” Yor said after a few moments of silence, “We’ll keep you safe. At the cost of anything.” 

You were theirs...like it or not.

“I-I will go and call for help! Please be careful MC!”

Then he started to run away from the scene.

You looked at the assassin.

He was trying to struggle out of your grip but it was impossible.

He actually didn’t expect that.

He thought that you was just a naive girl how did you-

“You were the one who told Jamil that Mr. Crewel was looking for him right?”

“…”

“Hmm… I would love to take your life with your own dagger but…my friends wouldn’t want that. But you have to know that my mind can change instantly so be good now and stop struggling. Your target already ran off. Give up. You lost. If you go to your boss with a failure they would most likely to kill you too.”

The assassin stopped struggling.

Yeah… He was damn sure that scary face of yours will haunt him every night.

That alone was a punishment for him.

“This Scarabia student is actually an assassin. Luckily I stopped him before he could harm Kalim.”

Needless to say that ‘student’ was kicked out of school and put behind bars.

Kalim thanked you million times for saving his life.

After that conversation Jamil started to trust you…No really congrats it’s hard to gain that snakes trust but you did it.

I HAVE THOUGHTS ABOUT THE LOIYOR EDEN ACADEMY AU:

They weren't friends at the start but they did take notice of each-other for their achievements and skills (Yor's supernatural strength & agility as well as instincts). Yor noticed Loid for his incredible intelligence, excellent grades and sharp senses.

The first encounter they had that brought them a bit closer was when they defended others from bullies and injustice, especially when their juniors got bullied by older students

They saved each-other when the other didn't want to fight said bullies/from trouble from the teachers, afraid of attracting unwanted attention and not getting angry at their own behalf but on the other's

Yor gathers her courage once and approaches Loid while he's on lunch break on the roof of their school, she meekly asks if he would mind of them being partners in crime (Loid:"Um, friends you mean?" Yor:"Y-Yes, that's what I meant!")

Rumors spread fast of Eden Academy's weirdest but most powerful students striking an alliance

Yor trains with Loid and helps him in biology and science (Loid:"Yor, why do you know how much blood a human loses when you stab them in the thigh?" Yor:"Um, w-well I was-I took a EC course in um- criminology-biology!" Loid:"Hmm..I understand, must've been some course.")

Yor is impressed with Loid's reflexes and senses, he could match her in their training sessions, despite Yor always winning. She suspects he let's her win bc he's a gentleman, not bc he's dying of internal bleeding every time she manages to punch his stomach (Yor:"Loid, how comes you're so good at fighting?" Loid, lying out of his ass:"...My father uh, owned a farm and uh, whenever I would feed the pigs they would attack me so I learned to defend myself." Yor, in awe:"Oh my! Pigs are scary.") They're dumb your honor.

They started with polite honorific of -san at the beginning, but gradually transitioned to -kun. Loid was too embarrassed to call Yor bc -chan, so the -san in her name stuck.

They did have a moment of panic and worry over each-other when they thought the other was in danger and they completely dropped honorifics & just...stared in shock ("Were we really that close?")

They sort of adopted the first year junior Anya, who was often left to herself and they took a liking to her bc she reminded them of themselves (they just can't stand watching children cry)

Anya sometimes insinuates that they act like they're married, Loid is a controlled flustered while Yor absolutely combusts

When Loid's friends tease him for constantly hanging out with Yor, he keeps using the excuse of them just being friends. When Franky teased him about seeing Yor once on top of his lap on the rooftop, Loid spits out his drink. ("I-it wasn't like that at all, Franky!" "Oh really? Your red face tells me otherwise." "I had-I had a bug in my hair and Yor-san was kind enough to get it out!" "Uh-huh, and your hands are her waist were necessary?" "It was to steady her!!") Lmao dumbass

Yor's friends keep teasing her too, Camilla in particular tries to spread nasty rumors about Loid and his many lady companions, of him being a ladykiller...etc. Since Yor is always with him and has never seen him shown interest in any of the girls in their semester, she doesn't believe Camilla at all. She's just jealous

Yor is so weird at this point in the story, she is just kind of …dead eyed and spacey? I sometimes get annoyed at how often we revisit the “Yor wants to learn to be normal” plot line, but it seems like she had given up on ever having a normal life here. She’s not even trying to interact with her coworkers, she’s barely paying attention to the conversation. She’s just sort of there.

Anyhow, the office bitches are being mean to Yor because that’s what they do, and we are introduced to the concept that Ostania is a scary police state, which will somehow have almost no effect on the daily lives of our characters, but that’s a rant for a different chapter.

CLASSIC TEEN MOVIE PLOT

The popular girls have invited her to a cool kid party just to be mean.

Yor’s empty apartment makes me so sad.

Yuri wants her to get married here?? I'm gonna chalk this one up to Yuri's character not being entirely nailed down yet, but also I imagine that Yuri likes the idea of Yor being happily married, but not her actually being married, which is scary and a threat to their perfect brother/sister bond.

People kind of talk about Yor and Thorn Princess like they are two seperate personalties almost, but honestly? That stilted politeness? That's all Yor. I really doubt "May I have the honor of taking your life?" is a line that is, like, Garden protocol.

The main difference is how collected she is as Thorn Princess, which like, this is the thing that she's good at. Everything else in life she second-guesses, she thinks she can't handle, but killing? That's nothing. She can kill like 20 armed dudes without breaking a sweat.

The weird creep was Franky!

Should Loid be telling Franky so many details about his mission? I feel like he shouldn't be. They have an interesting relationship. They are not quite friends (I'm not sure Loid is capable of making friends?? currently??) but it's closer than simply being a spy and his go-to informant. I think Endo said something like "they have an understanding" about them, and I like that. They are two people who can't really afford to have friends, but are as close as they can get without complicating things.

Franky points out that Anya does not look the part of a privileged kid expected to attend an elite school, and so off we go to the tailor's.

Not if you're a good girl. Also, activist seamstress backstory when??

Yor comes in and honestly? This is borderline love at first sight on Loid's part. This girl is as stealthy as she is beautiful! She caught him staring at her! Even though he is professionally sneaky! Anya immediately shows up, leans that this lady talking to her Papa is an assassin and decides that she shall be the mama.

I love that both of Anya's parents were selected by her. Anya adopted her parents, not the other way around. You can choose your family provided that you are a quick-thinking and adorable little telepath

They come to an agreement. Loid was divorced a few minutes ago, but he is now a widower, a real tearjerker of a backstory. Yor is moved, and they agree to meet on Saturday for the party.

CLASSIC SITCOM PLOT

His mission is also on Saturday!

He has again involved Franky, who is more of a lover than a fighter, but is psyched about the possibility of stealing some shit. I love you Franky.

This panel is so funny.

Poor Yor concludes that she has been stood up, but continues on to the party solo. The office bitches are predictably mean about it.

It's Dominic! Dominic is one of those people who tell you their dog is a rescue and really sweet once they just need to get used to you, and meanwhile said dog is shredding all your furniture and is lunging at your grandma, except it's his girlfriend not his dog.

But Loid finally shows up and, whoopsie daisy, he screws up and introduces himself as Yor’s husband.

The first time I read this I was assuming his little fuckup here was one purpose, but upon reread, no this bitch has a concussion. Anyhow, despite the fact that he showed up like an hour late bleeding from the fucking head, Loid still oozes charm, and Camilla straight-up loses it.

I had actually forgotten how just intensely fucking cruel she is at the party??? Like, the office bitches have really grown on me, and particularly Camilla post-cooking lessons, but here? Girl this is some middle school bully shit right here. You are an adult woman hosting a semi-formal dinner party?? Your coworkers are here?? You look completely unhinged right now.

UNDERSTANDING AND BEING UNDERSTOOD

Loid’s speech here is the moment. Yor, who is weird, and lives alone in a sad little apartment, and hides her terrible secret, has never had anyone who understood her and accepted her as is. Loid defends her and tells everyone that she is a wonderful person. Yor is 100% in love with Loid from this moment.

It’s important that we see this shot of Loid working his own dangerous, thankless job too. It would be easy to say he's just playing the role of Loid Forger here, but he really is speaking from the heart. Yor is like him. She has sacrificed herself for others, like him. Neither of them can begin to understand how alike they are at this point, but still? There's a little something between them. A little bit of understanding.

We have arrived at the Big Theme. Understanding = Love = Peace.

Little lost-in-translation thing here, Loid calls her “Yor” at the party, but she’s “Yor-san” as soon as they’re alone. Loid and Yor always keep a polite verbal distance between them.

Anyhow I have surprisingly little to say about the fight scene and subsequent proposal besides the fact that it is completely flawless. Concussive therapy is such a good joke, both of them are being so incredibly suspicious, but they have already both developed Love-Adjecent Stupidity Disorder and will never critically examine any of this ever.

Ok miscellaneous spy x family foreshadowing/stuff I’ve noticed/theories bc I’m hyperfixated

*note for manga spoilers

1- since Twilight was secretly in the team that was going to raid the bus- Anya has now saved twilight from a bomb three times. This pattern is very scary to me. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. I think something very bad is going to happen with a bomb and someone will get hurt. Although I’m not positive which member of the forger family will be the one to get hurt bc you can make an argument for all of them

2- one of the first ways both Loid and Yor bonded with Anya was by saving her from a kidnapping attempt. Plus she literally escaped from an evil lab. This girl is 10000% getting kidnapped at least 1 more time and saved by the both of them working together. I wouldn’t be super surprised if she gets kidnapped a couple more times actually.

But like twilight and thorn princess working together to save Anya from the labs is just such a monumental thing. I don’t think it’d be like the very last thing to happen but it feels like a huge climactic deal that can be used a ton of different ways in the story. Ie could be used to bring them back together if the identity reveal makes them break up, could be used as a way to solidify Loid and Yor in their identities as parents, could be used to prove to Anya this family isn’t going anywhere despite what her abandonment issues might think. Just to name a few.

3- Anya’s experiment name was 007. James Bond is agent 007 (double-0 7). I haven’t seen anyone else mention this before and just wanted to point it out

4- both WISE and Garden are complex and flawed systems. Both think they’re going for what’s best but ultimately I think both Yor and Loid will have to turn against their respective organizations and choose their family. Especially twilight I think that him going against WISE and choosing Anya will be the culmination of his character arc

4.5- I also think others like Handler, Shopkeeper, Yuri, Franky, and Fiona will be put in similar situations but I’m not as positive on what they’ll choose.

5- twilight will eventually drop the name twilight and fully adopt the persona of Loid forger as his true self and name. He’s said many times before he gave up his identity and his personal ambitions when he became twilight. In his mind his ability to have a family is directly connected to his identity, or lack there of. In his mind He can’t be a father bc twilight isn’t a real person, just a spy and a martyr. So even if he remains a spy and keeps the code name I think eventually he will accept Loid forger as his true self - alone with the family that comes with that name

5.5- another reason I think he’s going to like shift and adopt Loid as his true name or whatever is bc his whole character arc is about duality and fighting between the two sides of himself. The word twilight literally means the time between day and night. When he’s no longer fighting between the two sides of himself why would he still identify the name that represents that battle as his true name?

5.6- also also when I say he accepts the Loid forger persona I don’t mean like he just no longer considers himself a spy or anything. He’s already accepted that he’s a spy, he hasn’t accepted that he’s also a father. When he does accept the Loid part of him he’ll be a mix of both. And the name Loid means grey, which is a mix of black and white. Symbolism and all that

anya's experience being an esper

recently got into spy x family and i love it, but thinking abt a little kid with telepathy is honestly rlly sad and scary,, like its played off for silly laughs in the show but just like imagine the things anya was never meant to see that she was exposed to by seeing/hearing people's thoughts. think past caretakers thinking horrible things about her that they would never have said out loud but she still heard regardless and internalized (think the scene where damian's lackeys are thinking of mean things abt her and she starts crying). she could probably also have been desensitized to rlly gory stuff from reading yor's mind and the intrusive thoughts of other people. i wonder if the series is going to explore not only the way she was made into a lab rat but really get into her experience as an esper bc i think that's a really interesting subplot point

I barely like mangas that follow the next Gen (especially when I’d rather spend time with the original cast). But Anya is actually part of the original cast … it’s more of a timeskip than next gen/ part two/ epilogue

But I would love a mini series for spy x family. I mean there is so much humor and adventure for until Anya graduates for the original series 😍 *

But after that I’d like to have a Timeskip during which Anya officially studies medicine but secretly does work for a spy agency. Damian becomes a political leader on his own. He reminisces about Anya as a childhood crush and friend but they didn’t kept contact. Then they meet again bc she has the mission to protect him. They bicker all the time just like during school days and even call each other shithead and stubby legs. But they also share heartfelt moments. In the end he isn’t ready to let go of her & even Anya has to admit that it wasn’t alll just for the mission. Of course Henry Henderson, Becky and Emil and Erwin have to appear, too. Flash forward: Loid ugly cries at their wedding. Yor is sweet and all but warns Damian to never hurt Anya in a very scary Yor Forger way. Loid likes Damian and develops a fatherly bond towards him.

* I know Operation Strix is planned for 4 months but in my head the truth about Anya‘s abilities will come out and Twilight‘s main mission is to protect her and then he has a lot of side missions and further needs to keep the appearance in the clinic. WISE thinks it’s the best not to disrupt the situation to stay under the radar.

as a trained individual from quite a strict family, xiao wasn’t surprised when your strength was almost from beyond the boundary. not only were you fast and agile, you were also quite sharp with your opponent’s next move. he must say, your skills weren’t lacking. though, you do have a risky job at the qixing. however, just because you’re like this doesn’t mean your strength is as strong as those who are adepti. xiao still had more potential, even if you already have a vision attached to yourself. mortals and adepti were still from one another.

even if your skills were strong and mostly feared in battle, your personality was quite the opposite. from time to time, you would come over to wangshuu inn to bring your boyfriend some almond tofu with the cutest smile on your face. you were quite affectionate, despite being raised in a loveless household. for someone who was not only strong in physical, but emotionally as well, xiao understood why half of the people he knew respects you. ningguang was amazing when picking such candidates.

he also does train with you. when ganyu wasn’t around to do her daily adeptus training, xiao would often find you to spar with him for a while. and you gotta say, it was fun. it also helped distract xiao with his daily every day duties and increase his karma. that’s why he’s thankful to have you by his side in the first place.

the fresh green grass that grew across the silent fields of liyue harbor smelled like fresh mint from mondstadt. not only do those herbs grow everywhere, but they were also quite helpful for every day meals. xiao was standing still on the balcony of wangshuu inn, his eyes focused everywhere—sensing if danger was nearby under the place’s noses. once he sensed something, he was quick to open his eyes to find a familiar figure stand somewhere far down. at first, he must’ve mistaken it with somebody else, but as he looked hard enough, his vision clearing, he sees nobody else but you. wait did he say nobody else? he’s mistaken again, he sees you…with a bunch of treasure hoarders surrounded by every direction you had.

he panicked a bit. xiao knew you could easily beat them up, although the thing is he never saw you take down a huge group of people before. from all the training he had with you, it was the most fun thing he’ll experience. but for now…he has to leave you on your own. he scoots closer to the area you’re in, and watches. he trusts you.

reasons why if they were highly looked upon by the qixing and adepti themselves, then you better not mess around with them. within just 2 minutes, all the enemies were down, and you were calmly just sitting on top of one of them. xiao was impressed, and he could hear them apologize with small whimpers escaping their lips. with such a sweet smile on your face, you accepted their apology, with a group of mililith waiting for them on the side.

mortals…can be scary sometimes.

they can be. but at the same time, he just can’t help himself from loving one.

humans can be interesting…

chief alchemist’s notes: overall perspective; y/n’s strength is far from normal. they are very skilled in not just hand-to-hand combat but very talented on their legs as well. not only do their attacks can plunge on air with such agility and speed, but their reflex is also fast enough as a speeding eagle. their body is also flexible, being able to spread their leg up in the air when performing a kick to their nearby opponent.

you sometimes didn’t liked how your boyfriend treats you like a new human experiment. but this wasn’t him, really. he loves you just as you love him. sucrose says is that he took those notes down because your strength was far from great. one thing is what he mainly became interested in you was just you, add the strength but that reason was quick to push to the side. he knew you loved learning martial arts as a kid, besides your good wielding with the sword and agile body that can almost dodge anything, albedo was curious of why your personality was somewhat the opposite.

it wasn’t like he disliked it, don’t misunderstand him now. he was just bewildered of how you could be so happy-go-lucky when your strength was almost as strong as two fatui anemoboxers combined. albedo saw you take down fatuis before, and he must say, it was probably more than that. although your personality and strength were as different as night and day, albedo still had a lot of faith in you when going on your own or going out to clear commissions.

from time to time when you returned, you would cuddle up next to him with small bruises on your face. he would sigh and patch you up, kissing the areas of where your bruise hurt the most. despite being well-known as the genius alchemist who almost shows no emotion, albedo was quite loving when you two are alone. it seems he was a little shy when your relationship with him is shown in public, knowing that they never knew the alchemist out of all was your pick to be the first guy you’d go out with.

mostly your greets would go like this: “you returned.”

“yeah, sorry i was late…!”

“doesn’t matter. so, how’d you beat them up this time?”

you remembered sucrose or either timaeus flinching when they heard albedo question that to you so normally. it was humoring to see, you weren’t gonna lie. their faces looked extremely afraid when they turned to look at albedo who payed no attention to either of them. but, they soon got used to it after time to time. it was a nice change. besides, you were helpful and kind to them anyways. it wasn’t like you were going to beat them up next for no reason.

albedo didn’t had to worry much about your physical being when he sees you about to brawl with an opponent. instead, he cheers you on or he either helps you out. we love a supportive boyfriend ! <33 he remembered one time you sent a hilichurl up in the air with just one swift kick while you and sucrose were out to collect some ingredients for her next alchemy experiment. the poor girl thanked you the entire day for saving her :,}

in the end, you knew in the inside, albedo always worries. he established something inside himself that even if you were strong and skilled at combat, you were still human, a mere mortal in land. he may not show it, but just by looking at his small actions, you knew fair in your head he wants you safe all he time, which you happily oblige. albedo made sure you are always in contact with him. he loves you after all :) make sure you don’t worry him too much now <3 still, he wasn’t much sure how you managed to find your way through his heart. love is strange in different ways after all.

My chapter 66 (scene 2)

Twilight knew better than anyone that a good spy should know when an unforeseen event is a threat and when it isn't.

His wife being late while shopping should just be an accident. If it hadn't been 3 hours ago!

As she prepared dinner, his mind swung between the mood of a spy calculating possibilities and a worried husband.

When the immense list of bizarre but harmless possibilities was over, there was only the worst left to imagine. What if she's been arrested by the SSS? No, Yuri would never let them torture her. But what if there's been a robbery and she's fighting with the thieves? Or if she fell into a storm drain while she was walking...

"Pal!" Loid felt a small pink-haired human touch his knee. "Don't be worried, Mom is fine."

"I...I know." He flushed with embarrassment. "I wasn't worried..."

"If something bad happens to Ma, Bond will tell me."

He couldn't help but smile at the girl's cuteness. But he could see that she was just as tense as he was, as if she'd watched something violent, but the TV was off and the only scary thing was his own imagination.

Before he could ask what was going on, the doorbell rang.

The two flew to the door, but all they found was the delivery man. The next moment they were staring at that mysterious pile of cakes placed on the kitchen table.

That only made Twilight's suspicions worse. What did that mean? Where did it come from? Is it a message from WISE? It was a bomb?

"Huh?!" Anya was so alarmed that she nearly choked on the piece of cake she'd already stuffed down her collar.

"Anya!" Loid exclaimed as he went to help her.

"Are we going to explode?!" She screamed in fright.

"What?!" Loid looked for signs of explosives and then remembered that he couldn't play the spy in front of his daughter. "What are you talking about?"

Then it was Anya's turn to be stunned. What does she respond without revealing the powers?

"My belly…hurts!" She forced a cry of pain, and luckily for her, Loid readily believed her.

"Is it poison?!" He let it slip.

"Poison?!" Anya despaired.

"Did I say it out loud?" Loid fumbled, asking that question, more to himself than to her.

"Was she poisoned?!" A third voice entered the scene.

"No. I..." he realized. "Yor!"

"Ma!"

Anya jumped off Loid's lap and into her mother's arms. Twilight almost hugged his fake wife on impulse, but stopped in time.

"You're fine, Ma!" Anya hugged her dramatically.

"I am." Yor patted her back to soothe her. "Sorry for the delay."

"Were you fighting a bear, Ma?" Anya asked suddenly excited.

"At the." Yor thought maybe this fight would have been easier. "Well, let's say I had  a disagreement with a person."

"And this person is alright?" Loid figured that this wretch must be in the hospital by now. "Who was?"

"Hmm... Er..." She swallowed and Anya made a face of astonishment. "That person was Melinda Desmond. Damian's mother."

Loid's jaw dropped to the floor. And he could only mumble "Melin...melinda Desmond?"

From the look of guilt etched on Yor's face, Loid quickly deduced that not only had Anya hit Donavan's son, and now even this guy's wife didn't escape a punch. And worse, a punch from Yor!

"Ma! Did you hit her?!" Anya was alarmed

"Did you hit her?!" The husband exclaimed desperately.

"No! No! It wasn't a fight it was just a misunderstanding." Yor tried to calm them down. "Er... The thing is after the punch stuff she started to investigate...us." She completed in an apprehensive tone. "And I didn't like it."

"Then did you punch?" Anya asked.

"Anya, no! I didn't punch anyone today." Yor defended himself. "Actually, I met her by accident, but she and her friends were quite nice to me until she brough up that incident between Anya and Damian and..." Yor sighed as he realized she was also bad at reporting. "Anyway, I said I didn't like her attitude, I rejected her cakes..."

"Are those cakes that arrived here were hers?" Loid asked tensely.

"Did she send cakes here?" Yor became aware of the cakes on the table. "But...but I didn't mention our address..."

Loid and Yor looked at each other tensely and apprehensively. On the other hand, Anya concluded that without punch, the mother's story wasn't all that interesting and those beautiful cakes shouldn't be explosive (and Bond always warned when there was a threat). She and Bond went back to devouring the cakes.

"Maybe…this is an apology." Loid tried to smile to reassure his wife a little. "Rich people have extravagant habits."

"Huh... She already apologized and..." She hesitated. "She asked us to be friends."

"And what did you say?" Loid tried not to look too curious.

"Anything." He admitted embarrassed. "I just ran away..."

They were so involved in that conversation that they didn't even notice the phone ringing insistently. They didn't notice until they heard Anya's voice on the phone.

"A friend?" They only noticed when they heard Anya's voice on the phone. "My mom doesn't have any friends. She just has mean coworkers."

Yor pulled the phone out of Anya's hands as if it were a bomb.

"Oh, hello." She said all flustered.

"Yor!Hi!" Yor recognized Melinda's excited voice. "I just called to let you know that I sent the cakes to your house. And I'm sorry I know you're still offended. And rightly so. But I would feel terrible for interrupting your shopping. So please accept the cakes as part 1 of an apology."

"Part 1?" She asked.

"Yes. I know it's a very small gesture for the amount of inconvenience I've caused." Melinda was doing a fantastic job of showing regret in her tone. "I really want to make amends to you. I'm serious. And... I know it was pretty weird me making that proposal for you."

Yor noticed a certain confusion or shyness in the various pauses Melinda made in her speech. It was as if she wasn't quite sure what to say, or was too nervous to say the right things.

"Would you accept my invitation to go shopping tomorrow?" Her voice was full of expectation.

Yor looked at Loid, who beside her overheard the conversation. They both nodded (Anya also shook her head, so as not to feel left out).

And an important decision was made.
