have a word-salad kisame drabble thrown together while i was ugly crying over my fav mitski playlist :' ) *blasts my love is all mine on repeat x 1000*
tags: canon character death, canon character x reader,
Tumblr media
kisame is less of an 'i'm going to make you mine' and more of an 'i want you to make me yours' man
always to a cause has he been dedicated, always to the aspirations of those higher on the chain than himself has his life been devoted.
he wants little and has nothing; even his sword, the gluttonous behemoth of gnashing teeth and merciless scales forged to rip and shred, could one day find its fill of his chakra and rebuke him for another.
his body, his power, and his life have never been his to declare dominion.
and belonging is something life has always deprived him of. to a friend, a team - or even something so small as a warm body that wanted him anything other than fighting or dead.
Tumblr media
grandiose confessions and flowery words are two of many things that exist beyond the realm of his ability. never could he be a man who whispers heartfelt declarations of love and light, but he is a man who could devote himself to you.
his blade, his blood, his body, to his last breath.
only if you choose him.
the words 'i love you' may never fall like honey from his lips - but in the sanctum of the sun's waning light on a sodden, bloodied battlefield his brow could find its home against your own, the ghost of affection unfamiliar twined in his words when he offers himself in his entirety to you.
'let me be yours' is just as much a promise as it is a claim, spoken uncertainly and in feigned jest, through a sawtooth grin that always follows a battle hard-won.
heart pounding and lungs pitching their protest in the dry burn of every breath drawn, he is a man that lays his life like a token at your feet; if only you promise his fealty is kept true in the iron of your loyalty, and unyielding in your times of need.
never will you be his, not by his own word, because nothing in life that belonged to him has survived safe or untainted by the blood pouring like wine from his leger.
kisame wasn't born a monster, he doesn't know why he bites. death and bloodshed only found him young, and never has he been able to find its exit. too late is it now for him to ever hope for an end found in quiet or peace.
so in this world of manipulation and hypocrisy, please, let him belong to the lone pillar of sincerity that he has come to know as you. let his faith, his trust, his life belong to something more kind than the monster that became his namesake.
just so he might be able to - in what time he has left - drag his war-weary bones back to the first person that ever felt like a home, and wrap that someone so precious in his body, like a fortress impenetrable by all that might hope to harm you.
in this life, short and cruel, let the last memories his dying neurons fire be that born from the gentle warmth of your loving compassion for a man so unworthy and broken.
let him die knowing that, in this life, the love you shared was the one thing that belonged completely and entirely to him.

the naruto vs neji fight makes me laugh because:
naruto frames his win as a victory for "hard work" (as opposed to inborn talent) even though the only reason he turned the battle in his favour was due to his innate potent chakra reserves. neji may be a genius, but he also learned and mastered the hyuuga main house techniques through his own labour. neji is a closer representation of hard work than naruto will ever be (especially when it comes to this fight).
naruto goes "haven't you considered HINATA is suffering too" after hearing about how neji's dad died for the main house
realized how fucked up it was that neji refers to hinata with the suffix "sama." the only others who receive that level of deference are the kages and the sannin.
naruto seems more outraged at neji for reacting negatively to what’s been done to him and his father than hiashi or the hyuuga clan in general (because he, too, is an orphan boy and he alone gets to dictate how every other orphan in the series behaves, apparently)
naruto immediately shelves the issue of the hyuuga clan to be revised after he rises to the position of hokage.
naruto says to neji "you can change your destiny." myself and presumably all audience members assumed that meant neji would not die for a main house member exactly like his dad did.
and watching this fight for the first time i thought "great we'll get development on all these fronts for naruto and neji and the hyuuga plotline later on" and isn't that just hilarious

when i said that mha ripped off naruto (which i said only to piss off mha stans anyway) I didn't mean to sound like i was praising naruto. it was actually more like a sigh of disappointment, a reaction to seeing that all the problems that naruto had as a show transpired trough mha too and i was tired because watching naruto was enough for me but then i realized that my problem actually is that i can no longer stand watching shonen anime and i chose not to tire myself by cringing at the repetitive tropes and cliches anymore
#demon slayer falls under the same category sadly#actually it was more a combination of these 2 that made me realize that i had enough of this genre#me judging other shonen having as reference only naruto#but look! i watched both mha and demon slayer and my personal point was proven that i would get bored by them#(with the exception of some rare moments that were really good in mha but the bad and cringe moments made me forget abt them)#like i remember crying bcs this dude who trained deku died but then i remembered that a few episodes earlier he ''punished''#one of his female students by tying her up a ledge and tickling her with a feather :|#LIKE WHY DID YOU NEED TO PUT THAT IN THE STORY? HORIKOSHI OR WHATEVER THE MANGAKA'S NAME IS#WHY YOU FELT THE NEED TO ADD THAT IN???#and then you tried to make me feel sorry for the guy too?#that was such a jiraya death moment like they were playing it a sad but all i could think abt was ''rip bozo''#not saying that other anime don't have cringe moments. even moments that i had to skip because of how gruesome they were#but they sorta make sense in the big picture of the story? but other characters experience it too not just a category of people? idk#also it's funny how pissed mha stans get for having their show insulted like#when i tell ppl that my fave anime/manga are evangelion; black lagoon#and berserk they look at me like i deserve to be put in an electric chair#like they are right but at the same time i find it funny and i rly don't care#but these guys always go bananas if you insult their fav show as if you broke the geneva convention#i'd say that it's because the majority of the fans are children but i know for a fact that they are not 😭

A lot of adults women behave like incels but less violent and more manipulative. They usually love the cringe romance movies where the main girl is average looking and not like the other girls and manage to make the badboy soft. Generally they hate hot girls bc they are jealous (see the way Skr stans talk abt Ino and feel victorious bc they "won" against her, the hot girl). Those women are full of insecurities, thats why Skr is so relatable.
The way Skr tries to not think about the fact Sske dont wanna spend time with her is the same way some irl women ignore that their husbands are cheating, and if they cant ignore it they will attack the other women but they will NEVER leave the guy. All their self worth is based on having a bf/husband.
Then there are some lesbian/bi women who stan her as an act of feminism. She is a female character who got what she wanted so its a win apparently. Fortunatly those ppl are minority bc as a queer woman and feminist, it is very embarrassing to read those takes. I'm all for uplifting women and for them to get everything they desire but not at the expense of non sexist men. Plus, Skr dont even look so happy at the end of the day. So is it really a win for her and women?
Yeah that makes sense. But it's sad isn't it? Because even trying to have a dialogue with them isn't helpful. There's no point having it if they aren't ready to be receptive to it.
Sakura really sees no contradiction between what she says and what she does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yet...
Tumblr media
Lol. Till only two days ago, she was found styling her hair in the middle of chuunin exams, all skinned knees and having suffered minor injuries, while her team mates were working. She let her hair grow in the first place because she thought Sasuke liked it. Lol.
What impression can it possibly give to the reader? Kishi had to stress on it too, with another character this time.
Tumblr media
Why would Kishi stress so much on Sakura and her obsession with her hair, just to make her say something totally hypocritical five chapters down? Lol. Kishi is very clever about writing his characters act according to the character traits given to them. Like for example, the panel below, Kakashi acts according to his character (where he has a blindspot for Sakura's negative shades) thinks Sakura is not the type to brag when she is actually exactly the type to brag.
Tumblr media
Lol, Sakura's whole personality is about being obsessive for Sasuke which in turn makes her violently jealous of Naruto and Ino. She beats Naruto up regularly for no apparent reason and harasses Ino, even though that girl did nothing but try to help her. And she brags, it's the only thing she does properly. Lol.
Tumblr media
And yet, she is always bragging, showing off. From start to end.
Tumblr media
And I am positive I am missing some panels here lol. She is always looking for external validation. She revels in it. While external validation itself is not a bad thing, since humans need some amount of external validation to measure their abilities, and Naruto does it too, but for him, it's rooted in his quest for acknowledgement and acceptance, so he could make friends and not be ostracized from community. Sakura does it because of her ego. While Naruto has his principles rooted in his belief systems, his emotions and his dream that egg him on to do better, Sakura finds her motivation in the desire to show off and impress people, mostly Sasuke.
She disrespects Ino, Tsunade, and she fights Kaguya while she says this?
Tumblr media
Girl, why are you so embarrassing? If you wanna attack her, just do it. Why even mention her being a woman? She wasn't mocking you, she barely even noticed you. You aren't worthy enough for her to notice.
Tumblr media
Lol. And things she says about being a woman are just so cringe lol.
Tumblr media
No one underestimates her because she is a girl, in fact Kakashi coddles her because she is a girl. She is underestimated because despite training, she is just weak and unskilled, as compared to her cohorts. And if she is skillful, we don't see it in the same proportion measured against the way she talks about herself. Tsunade never had to sing about her being a woman and yet people are bloody scared of her strength. Temari never had to mention it, neither did Kushina. Chiyo certainly briefly talks about how women always get the short end of the stick in their male driven society, but she not only belongs to a much older generation that has seen a hell lot, she is a master puppeteer and a superior warrior in her own right, she has earned it.
It would have been fine if only Sakura had actually consistently kept her word, proven herself through actions and not just empty words. Because when she doesn't, it reduces the value of those words. I don't know if she really meant it when she said women were fickle. Who? Tsunade? Kushina? Chiyo? Temari? Nope, they didn't give any such impression.
She constantly condescends to Naruto despite him having proved himself to be skillful, strong, the one who wins team seven several battles while she stands in a corner shaking and sweating. Thing is, she realises she makes mistakes. She acknowledges Naruto's strength as well, but she doesn't do anything to change. The whole point of a realization is to work on it and correct your behaviour. She is condescending towards Naruto till the end. Konohamaru takes her down a peg when she is being disparaging towards him and Naruto when they are doing the oiroke jutsu contest. She even hits Konohamaru, and he gets pissed off. So he makes a reverse oiroke jutsu just to show her true face, and that face has a streak of blood trickling down her nose lol. But when Naruto uses it against Kaguya, she again condescends to him. Narusakus are kinda embarrassing tbh, Sakura doesn't get Naruto. She thinks she does but she doesn't. She thinks she gets Sasuke but she obviously doesn't. And yet, she makes her 'strategies' in kage arc around her knowledge of Naruto and fake confesses to him. Naruto rejects her. Lol. She goes to Sasuke and tries to kill him (with a kunai...) by tricking him, only to be attacked, twice. Even when she drugs her cohorts before going to Sasuke, they clock her real plan. Lol.
She overestimates herself, even though it's clear that if she only thought things through, she would be much more successful. She is really blind to her own shortcomings even though she tries but remains unsuccessful, which is even sadder.
She does know Sasuke doesn't wanna spend time with her, she also gets a sense that she will always be much lesser than Naruto in Sasuke's eyes, she knows but she doesn't care. Even if it means long term misery for everyone involved.
Yes, I am sure some women find her character relatable. But relatable doesn't mean everything. I relate to Sasuke and I am very wary of establishing emotional connections but I know it's not something ideal or healthy. Connection is what people thrive on. If I ever started to relate with Sakura, I would really be compelled to take a hard look at myself. Lol.

Hey!! I loved your Rinsagi metas and posts. FINALLY someone in the fandom who doesn't infantilize Isagi and sees canon him. Yes Isagi is nice but not like.. nanase level friendly and nice. He's polite but a lil withdrawn and appreciates people's talents but absolutely will not let anyone walk over him. Also, exactly what u said, sadist Dom. Yes please.
And Rin, so many people reduce him to this one-dimensional character who's issues people treat like a joke. When that's not the case? Bachira at least knows his prblms, Rin has no idea at all. Like how horrible does your repression and mental state have to be that the guy that is literally suicidal tells you that you're in a worse place than him. Rin gives off high key depressed vibes.
It's a lot like Post WC kunigami which draws...interesting parallels esp when you look at pre WC kunigami and at how Rin seems a lot happier before the fight. I saw someone make that comparison.
What do you think? How do you think Rin would've been like if Sae had actually bothered explaining instead of what we got?
Also, any opinions on the Itoshi parents? We've only seen half their faces and nothing from them abt their kids's relationship. I mean, it kinda bothers me how we've seen the views of Isagi, Bachira, Chigiri, even Hiori's parents when he's not a main character, Yet we got no input from the Itoshis. Do they just not notice? Are they a bit neglectful esp since they let a 13 yr old Sae go to another country alone? Do they let their kids do whatever they want including fighting for a year? Who knows? I'll love to know your thoughts tho.
Again, thank you for the lovely metas which made me feel a little less alone in the fandom. Have a great day :)
Tumblr media
Isagi stans, please rise up and help characterise him properly lmao
Stupid long response under the cut, as always.
Rant about my issues with the general fandom characterisation about Isagi. Sorry anon if this isn't what you wanted, I have a lot of Thoughts and Salt where Isagi is concerned, and I am Fandom Old who is growing incredibly sad with how divisive current fandom is over a whole host of things. Skip to Itoshi if you don't wanna read about Isagi + fandom musings. Skip to parents if you wanna read about my thoughts on the family dynamics.
Isagi is, for better or worse, the stock shonen MC. He's enough of a regular guy for the target readers, which are teenage boys, to identify with. As he's the MC, the story overall serves to validate and support him, so long as he fits the themes the author is working on, which for Blue Lock, is the concept of being the best at what you're doing, while also bringing out the best in others, and then working together successfully to achieve goals (i.e. the World Cup).
But, Kaneshiro-sensei's also a strategic writer. Isagi, because he's such a bland self-insert for the most part, combined with how he has a very weird form of Power of Heart, has wound up being an especially attractive character for those who like harem, or reverse-harem series. Which then, for better or worse, brings all the fujoshi fangirls around (the curse of so many attractive characters). But most especially the fujoshi fangirls who are a fan of all x MC ships. I am emphasizing all x MC here, because east Asian/gen Asian fandom, have grown incredibly restrictive and rigid about top x bottom dynamics, which is a whole host of other things and issues to talk about.
Look up any popular shonen jump title, you'll find that these shippers generally have the same tastes, and move around the same fandom circles. You'll usually find them shipping all x MC ships, from Izuku to Tanjirou to Yuuji to Naruto etc. Overall, how they characterise them never deviates all that much. It's the nice, 'innocent', naive, guy who is a bit of a pushover, and who has all the other hot characters wanting to get in their pants. That's where Isagi falls into as well, for these shippers. The more thorny and less 'nice guy' parts of his characterisation gets sanded down, though YMMV whether this is a skill issue by fandom or simply a cultural readership interpretation difference altogether.
On the Itoshi bros:
Yep, Rin has a lot of repression issues. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Rin has no idea at all about his issues (how else would he pick out Bachira's loneliness so quickly lol, also there's some hints from official guidebook), but he definitely lacks self-awareness. I also agree that he and Nagi seem to be on different areas at the spectrum of depression (Nagi being apathetic, Rin being hostile).
If there's anything to parallel Rin and Kunigami, I'd say that it's the 'loss of a dream' and 'loss of companions'. In the manga proper, Rin does seem happier before the fight with Sae, like how Kunigami looked happier pre-WC. However, the light novel shows that Rin was already repressing both himself and his style of football to imitate Sae long before then due to external pressures by his teammates and coach, and even more severely than Isagi, who also didn't have much of a relationship with his own teammates from Ichinan.
If Sae had tried to explain more than that one line about 'the world being vast', they wouldn't have such a strained relationship right now, honestly. While I don't think that Rin would have fully understood what Sae was trying to say because he lacked the experience and perspective, I do think he would have been more supportive, which would have been better overall, for the both of them. They were both idiots that night, lmao, though I do view Sae as having been punished by the narrative when he pushed his dream onto Rin.
About the Itoshi parents:
We know that Rin and Sae presumably used to share a room and a double bed as kids (albeit a fairly spacious one, from the looks of it), which makes me think that they're more likely to be middle class than upper class. Young Rin also accompanied Sae to his soccer practice games, rather than going off for other classes like say, art, which implies that his parents might not have been able to afford it. Sae also walked home with Rin, which further implies that they're parents are busy, though its more of a norm in JP. Possibly a double income household, to fund Sae, and later, Rin's coaching fees and time with the youth football squad. Also a household that seems to have no qualms about Sae, and later, Rin's rudeness and hostility, although they may tone it down around their parents. Sae must have picked his attitude up from somewhere.
I'm reluctant to call the Itoshi parents sending Sae to Madrid at 13 as intentionally neglectful, because there are cultural nuances there. I think the best parallel I can draw is parents from less-developed nations sending their children overseas from an early age to secure eventual permanent residency and establish a life in a more developed nation. Sometimes, home just isn’t good enough. And this is one of Blue Lock’s main story themes: that Japan’s football, as it is, isn’t good enough. They have neither the organizational structure, infrastructure, nor support to get the World Cup that Sae, Anri and possibly Ego, covets.
Sae's dream, and talent, is in football. He's been scouted by perhaps the most successful team in the Blue Lock world, with a world-class program for youths, and has been given the best chance possible, for any kid in his shoes, to fulfill his dream to be the best striker in the world. He's being sponsored, and he also left with a manager who would presumably, help take care of him whilst he was there. Sae isn't going there like say, Ashito from Aoi Ashi, who needed to go through a trial to even be considered for acceptance into the youth squad. He's going there as the equivalent of a golden scholarship student scouted for a potential future work placement, with the likely backing of the JFA.
What alternatives could his parents offer him if he stayed in Japan? His own speech to Sendou pre-blue lock vs U20 match encapsulates what could have been for him (Sendou is very much a foil to Sae, especially now that we know they're both redheads lmao). Being the best in Japan, a middle-of-the-road striker in the world, retiring with an average, albeit decent life. Sae's too egoistic, too talented, too greedy to be content with a life like that. I wouldn't be surprised if Sae had also begged his parents hard to let him go, since it's pretty much all he wanted as a kid.
That's without even taking into account the other problems his parents would face if they immigrated with Sae. How to take care of Rin and his education there, for starters. Rent and housing, finding jobs in Madrid where they likely can't speak the language, and face discrimination.
I think we don't get their parents faces because Rin and Sae's story, and their relationship with their parents, are simply emotionally distant. I don't think they have much parental control over Rin or Sae either.  Sae's been more or less looking after himself/being taken care of by Real Madrid + his manager in Spain since 13, and Rin has been strongly implied to be in much the same shoes since Sae left, to a lesser extent. I doubt they know the more minute details about Rin and Sae’s school life and team experience, both within and out of Japan. I even doubt that they know that Rin and Sae had a fight, honestly, though I can also see them being the kind of parents who will let their kids sort things out between themselves.
Overall: Itoshi parents takes care of them physically (buys them material things, makes sure they have a home to stay in, have a physical caretaker in their place), but emotionally? Rin and Sae seem to be pretty much left on their own. No wonder their relationship with each other broke down, and what little relationships they have with others seem like such a convoluted mess.
Thanks for sending the ask! I love hearing from people what they think about the latest chapters, characters, relationships etc. I hope you have a great day too!

now that I've properly finished my rewatch of the chunnin arc I gotta say, as much as I rly like that arc, naruto's fights with neji and gaara were fucking ass. Like WHY is neji being vilified for resenting the people who put brain melting servitude magic on him and killed his dad, all while painting naruto as some type of poor underdog as if he isn't the nepobaby of the century. And don't even get me started on the whole oh neji's dad Choose to die so it's fine and actually so liberating actually 😌 and then neji's uncle apologizes and everything is swept under the rug forever even tho nothings changed. And don't even get me started on gaara like his turn face heel makes no sense sorry why is naruto kicking his ass and crying a little enough 2 make him change his entire life philosophies it feels so rushed cmon 😭
I have not rewatched the wave country arc bc I've already seen it too many times in the past but from what I remember zabuza's ""change of heart"" made more sense there? Bc all naruto is doing is pressing zabuza's buttons until he shows he does care about Haku and is sad abt his death or smth which does makes sense like it feels more reasonable ig

Are you happy with how your favorite canon muse was portrayed in canon? 👀
yes & no !!!!!!! Back around the time season 2 came out One-sensei posted old concept art of Shou & mentioned how he was intending for the little guy to be as much of a "Shounen protagonist" as possible, then he states how he feels like he failed to deliver that energy in the manga & how the anime did good where he couldn't and like- I agree, the anime did a great job making Shou sound & look like a Shounen protag, colour scheme & constant loudness & everything- but it also stripped him of many fundamental traits which made him a really interesting character that didn't fall flat into the "Chaotic fire boy" trope and took away the flavor from his personality.
And like don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the fact that Shou was meant to be a mockery to the Shounen protag trope, but I like it best when that aspect is displayed thru his story & arc rather than personality and looks, if that makes sense ajshsjsv I love the way Shou was presented in the manga, from the mysterious anti-hero to the brave & caring bitter son who is just constantly putting himself in situations that drive him to his very limits, the anime suffers a severe lack of inner monolog
Tumblr media
( look at him. terrified to the bone but still ready to take the hit, i shake him violently. "Do I have to do this alone?" SUZUKI SHOU. )
Story-wise I think Shou's did wonderful on breaking the shounen protag trope. Nothing beats the reality slapped into your face with his failures. He did the whole deal like your usual hero, clearly worked so hard & trained for so long & established strong connections with people to be by his side, he still failed MISERABLY, shounen protags don't fail lol they beat u with the power of friendship & sad anime flashbacks, Shou doesn't get any of these privileges and faces the tragic reality and has no choice but to accept defeat against final boss!!!! No naruto nor goku could pull that off lmao ( i also think it's funny that we get to casually learn that he isn't mother-less as he seems, unlike 90% of shounen boys, I think this also breaks the trope very nicely )
I think all of that paired with the off-putting shady af, unintentionally funny & actually fucking smart vibe of him in the manga made him such a neat & unique little dude and the anime didn't have to change that but they DID to an extent and it made him somewhat lamer and genuinely dumb, it also led to extremely poor and ooc characterization by the fandom imo, i can whine abt it forever and I probably WILL
( old shou concept art tweet under the cut , it's very funny to me cuz ain't no way this is a 13 y/o LMAO 😭 )

HOLY SHIT HI KOTO ANON!!! UR ASKS R LIKE… SUPER COOL. Anyways this ask is unrelated w/ koto-anons ask, i just think they’re cool,,,
anyways, more shiobi brainrot and expanding on my last ask abt kakashi because oh my fucking god, these bitches make me so fucking sad. (also the fucking naruto timeline makes my head hurt so fuck the timeline!)
Ever since he was little, Obito would always make up stories about his team in a fairytale-esk way. For example: “the white wolf who's always a stickler for rules!” and “how he saved a princess!” (this is kinda relevant idk– i wanted to include this part into the confrontation but things just don't work out)
Later on, Obito would die during THE mission– with shisui’s genin team dying within the same month. Shisui was well, inconsolable. That doesn’t help with the fact that the Uchiha clan is now looking at him with those eyes and– obito-nii please. I'm scared. please come back… – and how he’s now treated as a weapon.
Then boom Inoichi and Shisui bonding time. (more like therapy sessions but shhh…)
During this time, Shisui has never seen Kakashi ever since Obito’s death. And with the rumors of Kakashi being well… a friend killer. Uhm. yikes.
Later on in his life, he was well recruited into anbu– he saw like kakashi in his hound mode (kakashi’s inner thoughts: oh god oh fuck– OBITO’S LITTLE BROTHER. IS IN FUCKING ANBU. FUCK. (kakashi’s a mess and i love him))
He passes yada yada. Skipping to Kakashi’s and Shisui’s confrontation–
“S–Shisui...?” and just like that, the air within Shisui’s lungs [just evaporates.] He knew that voice– no, he knows that voice. [smth smth about being obito’s teammate)
His mind is clouded with denial, grief, and.. and..
… and anger. [so so so much anger boils inside Shisui]. He wanted to yell why Obito died instead of him. He wanted to sob into him knowing that his older brother’s death didn’t go to waste and how he knew he cared way too much about his teammates and and– He wanted to attack Kakashi right there and then because how dare he–!
He… … feels a lot of things about Kakashi and it takes [his entire willpower to not contort his face.] “... I hate you so much,” He blurted with [such venom in his voice]. He knows he shouldn’t let his anger get the better of him– he knows it isn’t kakashi’s fault but… feelings are so so irrational, aren’t they?
Hou– Kakashi [took a step back– no, backpedaled.] and and … fuck.
“I’m… For what it’s worth, I’m.. I’m sorry,” Kakashi said, his voice hitching. “Sorries won’t bring Obito back.” He spat, before walking away from him.
Ok so, i cannot believe i actually wrote that WHOOPS. Is Shisui a bit ooc? Maybe but shh! Anyways! After that, they both tip toed towards each other before they decide to actually get to know each other and bond through the trauma they both went through.
Shisui never knew how Obito truly died just that he knew that Kakashi had Obito’s eyes (and for all that he hated Kakashi, he knew he wasn’t a bloodline thief.) and then boom trauma bonding then boom Shisui died presumeably from suicide. (which uh… not the best move Shisui)
Kakashi just went straight to grieving mode because he lost the last connection to Obito and spent his life devoted to protecting Naruto because he isn’t gonna lose another precious person of his.
This is just a rough idea, my daydreams are wayyy more in depth but i need to get this outta my system lol.
It is currently 11 pm. I think I have a problem with asking during ungodly hours <3 ALSO IF ANYONE ELSE WANNA WRITE ABT THIS… PLS DO. I DON’T HAVE THE MOTIVATION TO WRITE 😭
- N
N-anon 🤝 me, star struck for Koto-anon lmao
This ask is a feat! I'm so impressed, let me try to respond systematically
Fuck the Narutoverse timeline? Fuck the Narutoverse timeline! I spent three days in 2021 trying to make it make sense and then i just gave up and built my own timeline (hence some wonky ages, most notably Shisui) 😅 it was waaaaaay too long for my AO3 A/Ns (not because i thought so, c'mon i don't shut up, but because it literally went over word limit) so...idk if people are interested, I could talk about it more on here???
Honestly the fairytale element just makes me desperately want a fantasy, magical, or even an InkHeart AU 🥺
Honestly, I'm not sure it IS OOC because, let's be honest, Shisui probably has a fair bit of repressed anger and he probably (ironically) would have some feelings about eye implants so writing a scene/fic where Shisui flips his tits at Kakashi just sounds cathartic to me! I can't believe you wrote honest to God dialogue in my askbox, I'm very honoured (genuinely, this takes time) ✨
This sounds like a great wip idea! If it ever hits the page (I'm not sure my askbox counts?) then please link me!

I give you the opportunity to rant about how you view the Akatsuki's dynamic (like the group as a whole). also I'm curious abt your Sasuke and Naruto opinions 🧐
Ask game
Akatsuki
My general thoughts on it
WHERE DO I START. Canonically? there is barely any dynamic going on. It's a MESS. Kishimoto clearly wanted us to think of them as monsters and that's it. Their group meetings are far and few in between, and they seem to argue everytime they do meet. Obviously they're a radical group so they can't be seen getting along and having good plans, but it's still sad bc the potential was there. There ARE hints of them genuinely caring about one another, even outside their little duos. Funnily enough, most of those hints are related to Deidara and Kakuzu. His arms were stitched back together by Kakuzu, which implies that a) they do meet often outside their hologramic drama meetings and b) Kakuzu was probably also the medic of the Akatsuki, on top of being the treasurer, which shows that Pein deeply trusted him to handle both. Kakuzu also defends Deidara when Hidan mocks him, which is another hint that Kakuzu and Deidara care about/respect each other (plus Kakuzu being comfortable enough to joke around the other members and his banter with Hidan is probably a sign of them being friends).
Kakuzu's also forgiven for killing 3 of his teammates, and still trusted to be treasurer and makeshift nurse, so Pein had to trust and respect the old man a lot. Kakuzu also clearly shows respect to Pein during their few interactions, and his loyalty to him is above his obsession with money or his own bad temper. Why he killed his teammates, I don't know, but it's possible it's less about his temper and more about him considering them either not loyal enough or not strong enough for the Akatsuki to let them live, or maybe they really were THAT annoying, bc his mood swings don't seem to be severe enough to attempt to hurt Deidara, Pein, or even Hidan. In canon, Hidan's the one who's physically threatening. Kakuzu only ever blocks or throws a few verbal threats.
Sasori also shows that he cares for the members by wanting to kill Orochimaru for betraying them. Him being so impatient around Deidara could also be because he's constantly worried he will never come back, but he's too proud to admit it.
Nagato implies to Naruto that he considered both the old Akatsuki and the new Akatsuki as friends.
I can't cite every single one of them or this will become a novel, but they all show tiny hints that they care about the group as a whole, and esp their partners, and I wish this was explored more. These people all were heavily traumatized by the system and share the same values, there is no way they can't feel kinship towards each other, esp bc nukenins are so often demonized and their deaths forgotten about. The very act of sticking together and caring about each other and refusing to let one of them die or their life be forgotten is an act of rebellion against the system. I wanted to see more of that. I wanted to see their individual opinions about Pein's plan, and more of them questionning/giving advice to their leader. Also I wanted it to be acknowledged that the Akatsuki embody Hashirama's dream. They're a bunch of people from different countries, different clans, different backgrounds, who put their differences aside to work together towards peace, as one family. There is this post about them being LGBT separatists which is quite interesting.
I also really like how the Akatsuki as an organisation doesn't judge its members. None of them mock the other for their kekkei genkai, place of birth, or past crimes. They even accepted Orochimaru in their ranks, until he attacked Itachi. No one mentions Hidan's murder spree, Kisame and Itachi betraying their own, or Sasori committing mass murder as a child soldier. It does give a sense of mutual understanding and compassion amongst them. They do tease each other though, Kisame esp does, but it's mostly harmless.
My opinion on how it's received by fans
Too much "they all hate each other and Konan is their mom". I don't like it. Or, "all the adults who met their partners as teenagers wanna fuck them". The few people who make found family content tho *chef's kiss*, that's the good shit.
Naruto and Sasuke
My general thoughts on it
I don't ship it but it's canon. Like fr, I don't see any other interpretation than that they're in love but are too homophobic to date. However, I don't ship it bc it just doesn't seem healthy to me, nor do I like the idea that Naruto is Sasuke's "saviour" or whatever. Naruto being so hellbent on being a Konoha bootlicker rlly sours the whole thing for me. Also the drama is there, but HashiMada is way more tragic and believable, if that makes sense. I just don't think they can work in an everyday setting. I'm not even sure when they became friends bc they never hung out or shared interests other than compete and yell at each other so. I like the fanarts tho.
My opinion on how it's received by fans
Too many people make Naruto out to be Sasuke's saviour, his sunshine, and it's neither healthy nor accurate. There is also way too much discourse over who puts his dick in who, and it feels homophobic to me. I've also seen some fans be misogynistic towards female characters (whether part of the canon ships or not) and I don't like that either.

Hi! One last question heheh
Sorry to bother you
I just keep thinking, if the character of Sasuke was added as a form for suggestion from the editor, how Kishi got the idea to make Naruto and Sasuke a gay couple? , or do you think it just happened? I mean it was a Shounen, and if Kishi wasn't intentional in make a gay romance before bringing Sasuke to the story, like why he took the risk and the stress (to be more subtle abt the romance) to begin with? Or he was intended to make Naruto gay before he even added Sasuke?
Maybe is a dumb question hahaha
Don't respond if you don't have time.
Thank you for taking your time making all these post, they are really interesting, they blew my mind many times when reading them😁
Like before finding your blog I didn't think that Hinata was such an horrible character, like I can't believe I missed all the hints and storyline that Kishimoto wrote, I still can't believe how he managed perfectly to write a gay romance and the whole world ignored it or think it wasnt (at first I thought that😅😂) , his writing is top tier, honestly he managed to trick us all. Naruto succeeded in a homophobic society and it's still one of the most successful manga in the world, with one of the largest fandom around the world, its so mind blowing, I can't find any other word to describe it haha.
Now with the given information of your blog, I just feel soo sad about the ending, and I didn't feel much like this before, like I used to think: "well it was okay with the wedding of NH and the other stuff like meh, a cliché ending like many other animes" 🤷‍♀️ and theeen I discovered your blog and I felt so eye-opened and so sad at the same time😭 like imagine how many years of kisses and hugs Naruto and Sasuke already lost before the reconciliation, and then they lost another 12 years because they can't be together because of their fking nh ss, like fr😭
( P. S. I apologize for the bad english, I'm not a english native speaker)
Well thank you again and greetings!
I'll be looking forward for more of your post.
Have a amazing day😊
Hi.
If readers feel sad reading this blog, then I have accomplished my goal. You got what I was trying to say. Hehehe. You are supposed to feel sad. Because it is such a grand and beautiful love story with such a tragic ending. Like it's the longest love story I have ever sat through. The longest, most feelingly written, love story with a sad ending and yet you would wanna sit through it again. It's a kind of sweet torture. It has a weird hold. If you have really truly seen it, you realize you have never seen anything like it before. It's so righteously earnest and yet cleverly subversive. The themes of light and darkness, yin and yang, night and day, sun and moon, with all the shades in between, the story itself reads like that. There is such innocence and lightness and a tenderness to it and yet there is darkness and it's bloody and sinister. There's so much hope and despair at the same time. There's such feather lightness and crushing heaviness to it. So many scenes make you feel happy and sad and aching and nostalgic at the same time. I will never forget the scenes with tiny Gaara. Ever. It's branded on my brain. Kishi is a very sensitive writer, make no mistake. He understands. He knows there are no binaries. He writes all shades. So many characters he wrote are so iconic, because so many of them are so relatable to fans in their own ways, that's quite a feat for a writer. He is inspired by one of his favourite films, 'The never-ending story', which I feel like he also relates to. In the sense, he relates to the notion of a troubled young boy who uses his imagination to cope with the world, building fantasies and entire worlds and great romance and elaborate characters in his head. He put quite a bit of thought in his characters, the way he has written them consistently, and yet very shrewdly. He has written them so well, he has polarised his audience. A huge audience. Powerful storytelling.
Kishimoto did say in one of his interviews that Yahagi San, his editor suggested giving Naruto a rival which happened to be Sasuke.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kishimoto paid a lot of attention to write Sasuke and Naruto in character, and why wouldn't he? They are the main characters, the main act. He works with a team of editors and artists. This doesn't mean that Kishimoto hadn't thought of Sasuke's character before this. Obviously a lot of thought has gone behind Sasuke's design, characterisation and arc. Kishimoto has often talked about how Sasuke has been the most challenging character for him to write and draw. That he had to give Sasuke a lot of situations for his arc and story to proceed as Kishi needed to, for it to move the plot. Sasuke has been written in a lot of scenes. Kishimoto said Yahagi San suggested to make Sasuke Naruto's 'rival', rival being the operative term. Kishi probably had already conceived of Sasuke's character, it's not possible he hadn't, given how much Sasuke's character contributed to Naruto's own arc and story from start to end. But a seasoned Yahagi San must have guided a very young and professionally inexperienced Kishimoto about how to go about introducing different characters and specifically a character as important as Sasuke.
Yes, he intended to write Naruto as closeted gay from the start. It's one of the defining features of his character in the story, none of it comes without deeply brainstorming about it. Even the pilot has portrayed shades of his sexuality, but I am glad Kishi changed many things post pilot. But Naruto's characterisation as a closeted gay boy is pretty consistent throughout.
Writing a story and characters is a matter of inspiration and creativity. A professional writer can write something in a matter of hours if the inspiration strikes them or take months and months and nothing would materialise. It depends.
But whatever the author writes, it's the editor's job to make sure that the desired impact of the story is properly delivered, as intended by the author and anything that is a hindrance to that is removed or rectified.
As for your question here, I don't really need to debunk anything. What I mean is that there's nothing to debunk.
Tumblr media
I know SS stans put a lot of weight into this panel for two reasons : 1) Eyemex or whatever they call it. Eye contact ie. 2) Panel size, where it is a largish panel which shows Sakura being held by Sasuke.
And apparently this panel makes all of the things that happened between Sasuke and Sakura alright. Everything. Sasuke's contempt towards her, his apathy, his brutal honesty, his utter disinterest in her and absolutely nothing that indicates he is being tsundere towards her. Yeah, SS stans are embarrassing like that.
But the fact is that it still doesn't prove anything. If anything, even here Kishi was gung ho on maintaining the focus on Naruto and Sasuke. The Sasuke and Sakura panel is a het bait. Because Kishi had to draw one scene with them together foreshadowing the canon ending where Sasuke and Sakura were paired together. That's all this panel means.
Because what else could it mean? Through the entirety of Shippuden, we hardly see any significant SS interaction, and what there is shows how much Sasuke doesn't care about Sakura. The war arc itself underlined it again and again what with leaving Sakura to perish in the lava dimension, mocking her or dismissing her as she would try to interact with him. One has to look at what precedes and succeeds the panel. One cannot simply draw meaning out of an isolated panel unless the context is set up.
And what is the set up here? The context is that Sasuke and Naruto were together fighting Kaguya while the rest of them were feeling pretty useless and a burden/liability, including Kakashi and Sakura. Obito is feeling guilty. Kaguya sends Sasuke to another dimension while Naruto is determinedly and strategically fighting Kaguya, while being worried about Sasuke. Obito senses it and is prepared to help him out with Sakura's help. Naruto is very grateful to Obito because he is helping him to look for Sasuke.
Tumblr media
Kishi even made sure to mention it in the external narration. Naruto and Obito go to save Sasuke, hehe.
While Naruto, Sakura and Obito are looking for Sasuke, Naruto is trying to sense Sasuke's chakra. On the other side, Sasuke is trying to sense Naruto's chakra. They can sense each other's chakras. Just like that. What does it imply?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What impression does this give the reader? That they are so thoroughly attuned to each other, they can easily sense each other's chakras and just follow it to find each other. Like they are connected.
Tumblr media
In this panel, Sasuke thanks Obito for his help, which he used in conjunction with his own Rinnegan ability. Yes, some focus is certainly put on the eye contact. But like I said, if there's nothing romantic indicated in the context and subtext, in fact, the opposite, you can simply attribute it to het bait which Kishi serves the audiences pretty regularly. It also helps the reader build expectations as to what will happen in future.
If Sakura was so instrumental to this scene and Sasuke, why isn't that present in the context? Why is Kishi only focusing on Naruto and Sasuke? Well, he ain't the only one. Lol.
Tumblr media
This happens right after the panel under discussion. It's about Sasuke and Naruto. They are the core. They are the main act. They will change the fate of the shinobi world together. All this is already established properly by this point in the arc.
And right after Sasuke is rescued and brought back to the dimension where Naruto is, he immediately runs towards Naruto, Naruto becomes really happy, and they bicker, like usual.
Tumblr media
Lol. All of this, the way the scene was built up and rendered, puts stress on how solid Sasuke and Naruto's bond is. Like the entire thing. The way situations are created, the way conflicts or problems are presented and then the way they are resolved. In the Sasuke rescue mission, the focus went to Obito's character who had a specific reason to help Naruto.
Tumblr media
Narratively, the focus was put on Obito who came off as the true rescuer, Sasuke is made to thank Obito after the rescue operation, the external narrative also doesn't even mention Sakura. Sakura was effectively a replacement of Naruto in this scene because the real body of Naruto was fighting Kaguya and Naruto's clone wouldn't have had enough chakra, so she volunteered. Because she could help with the one commodity she could offer at this point, since nothing else she could offer really helped here. And she needed to be brought in the narrative, since so much emphasis was put on teamwork just prior to this, so Kishi wrote this in, Sakura being a part of Sasuke's rescue operation. The least she could do and not be labelled completely useless. That and punching Kaguya as Kakashi set it up for her. Seriously, what else did she even do that didn't end up as a complete embarrassing disaster for her in this arc, especially after Sasuke joins the war and she starts to show off? Lol. And following this SS interaction, if you can even call it that, the next SS interaction in the same arc should be enough for fans to stop considering this panel as so important. Lol. Sakura confesses to him like she is dying without him, no matter the current situation where there's a freaking war going on lol, he emphatically rejects her and then genjutsues her ass so she would stop getting in Naruto and Sasuke's way.
SS stans are not to be taken seriously. Oh sure, Sasuke and Naruto talking about giving their lives for each other while delivering full fledged romantic Shakespearan dialogues for each other isn't romantic but Sasuke looking at Sakura is. Lol.
As for your question about the post I wrote about Gaiden.
I saw in one of your post, about how sasuke proposed to Naruto after his journey after war, and how naruto rejected him because Naruto is a closeted gay, all of it this proposal was implied in Gaiden( I haven't read it)?Or is just a theory that connects all the dots of why the SasuSaku looks so bad in the Boruto era? hehe
Yes, it was my theory but like I wrote in the post, it's entirely extrapolated from canon. Shippuden, Gaiden and Boruto movie. All I am doing is writing about the consistent nuances that Kishi writes in, given its shounen and he had to be careful about writing a gay narrative in it, Brokeback Mountain style, hehe. He wrote Gaiden in a way which compelled the reader to read between the lines, at least the perceptive audiences. He uses several allusions for the SNS dynamic that he uses throughout Naruto and Shippuden and writes very consistently granular nuances that he writes for Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura's characters in their respective scenes. If one is paying attention, they can tell all of it. You can give Gaiden a read, it will all become clear to you. Kishi wanted to bridge the gap between the larger narrative and the disparate ending that didn't satisfy the potential climax he was building towards with it. He wanted to tell the audience that SS was a sham and that Sasuke and Naruto are truly the real pairing but because of the worldbuilding of the shinobi world, they couldn't be together as they were meant to. Rather, they are carrying their burdens, sharing their burdens because they are shinobis who are meant to suffer and endure. But at least, they are doing it with each other's support. It is still heartbreaking.

i was screaming abt this on twitter the other day so i figured i’d share it here 2. this is from an official naruto poster series that comes out yearly, and apparently as my friend has found, the artist also draws gay naruto doujinshi. is this not the gayest shit you’ve ever seen, look at hashirama’s face, and then madara is gay panic (tomato) and they’re both blushing. i don’t care if it’s an arm wrestle or whatever this is gay as fuck

Thank you so much for the new chapter! I’m in exam period rn so this was a very welcome reprieve lol, I kid u not I reread the chapter at least a few times. I’ve also never properly commented on a chapter before so I’m a bit shy and was tempted to send this anonymously haha
Word vomit of lengthy thoughts on the new chapter:
Natsu training Sasuke!! I’m curious to see how their relationship will develop, now that Sasuke’s perspective of Natsu has changed from ‘reliable brother figure’ to ‘reliable brother figure + teacher + goal + caretaker’ of sorts. Knowing Sasuke’s character in the anime, this probably marks the start of an intense rivalry that’s likely one-sided on his part for a long time..
I’m also curious how Natsu’s ‘mentor’ relationship with Sasuke will affect the canon rivalry between Sasuke and Naruto. Perhaps this will also affect Natsu’s relationship with Naruto somehow? With Naruto maybe wondering why his beloved bro is teaching both his friends but not him
It’s sad to see Natsu finding it hard to face Sasuke, being reminded of all the angst with Shisui and Itachi. They’re all so precious 😭
Also… the bamboo chain necklace!!
Hinata standing up for her friends (and herself)! I love their little trio, but seeing them interact with Natsu on the side also drives home the fact that Shisui and Itachi are gone… also the line abt Natsu still being reluctant to return to any empty apartment… 😭😭 Eagerly awaiting Natsu interacting with more of Konoha 12! And having ppl to talk to! And eventually have a heart-to-heart with!
Natsu avoiding using Shisui’s tanto bc he doesn’t feel worthy of it yet, him telling Shisui not to linger bc he’s afraid Shisui will see what type of person he becomes.. or what Konoha makes of him.. my heartt ❤️‍🩹
More Itachi/Natsume parallels… really driving in the angst rip
Ino and her cute crush on Natsu!! “None of to ur business!” and running away, aww. The start of ppl crushing on Natsu and him being entirely oblivious, it seems. I’m curious as to whether Ino’s initial shock at seeing Natsu is bc of his striking appearance / she knows he’s the ‘demon child’ of Konoha / maybe she’s seen him around since Natsu’s been picking up Naruto?
Natsu finally learning the meaning behind the camellias 🥲
Natsu teaching Hinata fuuinjutsu and Hinata teaching him how to act like an heir… curious to see how this goes and them surprising ppl with it!!
Also, some random things I’m wondering regarding Natsu, Naruto and Sasuke living together:
Who does most of the cooking? I imagine Natsu taking the lead and making sure Naruto and Sasuke learn how to as well
Do they all sleep in the same bedroom and share 1 or 2 beds?
Naruto and Sasuke fighting over dinner and who gets which blanket… adorable kiddos
Anywho, love the new chapter sm! Also super excited for the new arc 😆😆
Happy to hear you enjoyed it, and good luck on your exams!!! (I do not miss that time period, lol) It’s super nice to hear all your thoughts, and I’m glad you shared! I honestly get so excited to see that people like my writing enough to really thinking about it. As for your questions:
1) Natsume does, in fact, handle most of the cooking. Naruto is actually learning rather well (with Natsume’s influence) but he can’t be trusted to cook things on a stove because he gets distracted too easily. Sasuke can make cereal. In the end, Natsume tries to cook huge portions to keep leftovers for as many days as possible because he can’t actually cook every night. Otherwise they end up getting takeout maybe a little too frequently…
2) There is still only one bedroom for now! It’s not going to last long with three growing boys, tbh… Naruto and Natsume have resumed sharing a bed, giving Sasuke the other one. Sometimes if Natsume feels too crowded, he’ll just sleep on the couch instead. Seems like a problem that needs to be solved soon… :)
Thanks again for reading!!! I’m looking forward to the new arc as well >:3c (and more of the Konoha 12 as well!)
