ACOSF Ch. 15 🤝 Wings and Embers

ACOSF ch. 15 is an amazing echo and callback to "Wings and Embers" for Nesta and Cassian.

In ACOSF ch. 15 it's from the words "The House had a taste for romance novels" through the end of the chapter, though the clear structural echo begins once Nesta and Cassian are eating together at the dining room table.

It's like SJM took the incredible set of beats in W&E and let these two move through the same beats as their ACOSF selves, post-Nesta being Made, post-Battle of Hybern, all of it. And the outcome is incredible.

As a reading experiment, reread W&E (you can Google to find it, try searching - wings and embers bloomsbury) then immediately read ACOSF ch. 15 from the line I mentioned, to see what I mean.

Disclaimer that the intentionality of this isn't something I have read anywhere as something confirmed by SJM. It's just something incredible I noticed through obsessive careful reading and rereading.

But! Her hand on his chest! His nose on her neck! The back and forth of who has the upper hand at any given moment and why! (On the latter, I especially love that in W&E Nesta emerges on top in the power dynamic, but in ACOSF ch. 15 I'd argue Cassian does, and that shift is so key to their growing relationship at that point in ACOSF it's just *chef's kiss*.)

Anyway, just wanted to yeet this onto my otherwise slumbering Tumblr as I reread (again) ahead of the HOFAS release in just TWENTY 👏🏻 DAYS! 👏🏻

Tumblr has always been my favourite fandom place, social media site, hangout/safe space, etc. Not anymore. Now I have none after the changes making this site a headache to be on. Tumblr was the last accessible, none-overwhelming site left and now it's ruined...
