I don't really like that Tulin turns out to be a descendant of a Sage and that's why he's able to control wind.
Like in BotW (and AoC), Revali was special because he developed his ability through hard work. He was the strongest/most skilled warrior the Rito had. That was the emphasis of his character. There was no talk of his history (like Zelda), his lineage (like Zelda/Sidon/Riju), or any devine rites (like Link/Zelda) or devine powers (like Urbosa/Daruk/Riju/Yunobo/Mipha).
Revali was just a guy. A guy who was good/strong enough to stand amongst essentially demi-gods in spite of his totally ordinary background.
Same with Teba. He was just a guy who heard the story of Revali and wanted to be strong like him. He looked up to Revali and his achievements so much, he became the hero his people needed.
We could've had that w/ Tulin. Make him have natural skill which he hones into the mastery he shows in the game. Someone who grew up w/ stories of the Great Master Revali. Someone who saw his own father, just a normal guy, rise up to help the chosen of the Goddess defeat the darkness around Vah Medoh. Tulin could have been someone so inspired by his community and family he became great. Someone the Sage could acknowledge and pass on his gift and title to despite not being related.
This also allows for the impulsive/prideful loner to humble teammate storyline to work too.
Idk, it just bothered me a little too much. The Rito of BotW (and AoC) never had any mention of lineage or devine intervention. It made them feel like they could achieve greatness instead of them being destined for it, regardless of who they are.

Okay, I was one of the horde who was confused at why they PASSED the solstice deadline in the casino but now that the last episode is out I get it.
Percy went into the whole thing with a "fuck them gods and fuck this quest" attitude (totally deserved), and him still returning the bolt AFTER the quest deadline had passed served to not only uplift Percy's character but also emphasize that he still couldn't give a shit about the quest.
He's not returning the bolt because the gods ordered him to, he's returning it because it will save the people he loves from suffering. No one can paint him as a good little kid who does what he's told, he is still a menace to the gods which is exactly what he's wanted to be for the whole show.
The deadline being already past both lifts Percy above being Zeus' errand boy and brings Zeus down to listen to the kid who has something really fucking important to tell him.

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT
With the developments (aka SPOILERS) of Book 7 Part 2.. could that possibly explain the limited time events and their "place" within the order of events of the main story?
They are each their own little (mostly) self-contained dreams - scenarios that fill in missing pieces from the waking world. Where time is a little whoosie -even more so than usual- where Yuu can celebrate birthdays with the other students they've come to love again and again. Where some dreams might be more grandiose fantasy fairy tales, and others mundane nightmares of exams.
Dreams that maybe aren't always what malleus imagined. Dreams that don't always include him, but still let him spend time with people whether directly or through observation.
It let's him hold onto these experiences and the company that he never really had...

Ok, let's talk about Heaven, Iowa. It's a conversation between Pete and Patrick. It starts with Pete and he's having a down moment. Then Patrick swoops in with the love at "They don't know how much they'll miss...".
He's telling Pete he sees him, he found his glow in his darkness. Patrick cares. Patrick would miss Pete if he was gone.

shadow sk8 the infinity with chronic migraines after he got attacked.
cherry sk8 the infinity with chronic migraines after his beef with ad*m.
shadow & cherry bonding and becoming besties. them having... not a strained relationship with each other before, but neither of them knew how to talk to each other before but after being in the hospital together and after cherry literally leaving carla with shadow so he could be included and could watch reki’s beef and make sure he’s okay... like...
just thinking about them bonding. realizing that they’re more a like than they thought. shadow making cherry take days off from work when the migraines when they get bad because he doesn’t like to take breaks. cherry snatching shadow’s board and refusing to let him skate during s when they get bad because shadow doesn’t know who he is when he isn’t shadow so not skating is hard for him.
both of them being vigilant of each other during s to see if the sound or light is too much for them and forcing the other to leave with them... cherry having a key to sia la luce, so they always go sit in sia la luce when they leave and when joe and the kids get there after s, they find one of them sleeping on the counter and the other causing a mess in his kitchen (or they’re both making a mess in the kitchen).
thinking,,,

had a fucking hilarious dream that tumblr replaced the "block" function with the far funnier "glock" function, which did the exact same thing except whenever anyone blocked you a random bullet hole, like a png of a bullet hole, would appear on your blog. discourse blogs were unreadable bc you'd go to the page and the sheer amount of bullet hole pngs stacked over the blogs obscured everything. I woke myself up laughing

Now that the post is over 10k and my notes are straight-up unusable...
One thing I wish I'd spelled out more explicitly in the original post because I see this point getting lost on a lot of rebloggers who don't understand why the healthcare thing was such a big deal is like
The subtext I thought would be understood bc I lived back then but apparently has been lost today is that making sure queer employees and their partners had healthcare in the early 90s meant Disney was paying for a lot of AIDS treatment.
This is one reason fundie Christians were so upset and queer employees were so grateful. It's one reason why it was such a controversial decision. It was a major talking point amongst my family, who believed back then that AIDS was a punishment from God.
(Some still do, I think. We don't talk.)
I keep seeing people saying that Disney only chose that option "because of their bottom line" and it's like??? Were you listening??? Disney has been paying for that decision for literally decades, but they've stood by it.
Like... the 90s weren't like now! It wasn't profitable to cater to the queer population of the country back then. They weren't raking in money with this.
It's in no way a perfect company but I fully believe in criticizing people for the specific things they do wrong and praising them for the specific things they do right. Disney has fucked copyright, monopoly, and labor laws and I'm not about to defend that. But they are well known in FL for being friendly to both queer people and disabled people, and that is unambiguously a good thing.
(Like side note, I could talk about Disney and accessibility for days. I have traveled extensively while disabled and no one does it like Disney.)
I've had people reblogging the post like "I straight-up don't believe Disney is an industry leader in equal protections for queer employees" and it's like ??? do you think I just pulled this out of my ass? If you want more information, go look it up! You'll see that this is well-established history. It's not my fault y'all don't read! :|

i dont know how else to put this but to approach books (or any media, really) solely for the sake of relatability is genuinely incredibly heartbreaking......to have such little (or such unwilling) imaginative scope that you cannot stretch yourself, even marginally, in a different direction to what you’ve known or are used to knowing when the very POINT of stories is to transport you somewhere else, into someone else, so you can do just that........when fran lebowiz said a book is supposed to be a door!” and george saunders said good prose “is like empathy training wheels” they were right!!! they were so so so SO absolutely entirely right!!!!!
