more firefighter show stuff
so abby's back! still not a huge fan of the whole ghosting thing, but i accept it at this point.
buck and bobby fighting <3 there is so much insubordination in this show. anyways it reminds me of how earlier this year my husband helped out with academy training this year on account of he's going to get promoted so he had to go practice being a superior officer with some of their training and he was telling me all the scenarios they run going in to practice saving firefighters stuck inside. one of them is literally you can't save the firefighter (seriously, if you manage to somehow reach them in the tower at all before time is called the person in question will actively move away from you because you have to practice that no win scenario) and then you have to drag out someone who's fighting to stay in to try and "save" the dude. the year my husband did academy supposedly someone punched someone trying to get back into the tower in the name of acting, you had a bunch of dudes fake crying, they bring the "dead" guy out with an american flag and my husband was there like 😐
oh abby. farewell and good for you getting out of this mess. enjoy your life!
alright and i'm gonna go ahead and snark on maddie's pregnancy test there. because it is absolutely hilarious to me. so the pregnacy test she is holding looks to be a FRER (first response early result). i know these very well on account of i've probably taken like. between 50-100 of them total throughout my TTC journey, squinting at so many of them. they're what's called a "pink line" test and are generally seen as more reliable within the ttc community (you can also get cheap pink line tests for way cheaper (i also had many of those) but they tend to need a slightly higher level of hcg to pop a positive--i believe the FRERs will catch at about 10 mcg hcg in the urine, regular cheapies at 25 mcg hcg but it's been a bit so i could be wrong). with a pink line test you get two pink vertical lines on the test strip so it'll look like | |. the other type of test is a blue line test. blue line tests tend to be a little less reliable as in you're more likely to get a false positive and with a blue line test you get your result in the shape of a plus sign--if it's positive you see a blue +. On Maddie's FRERs they appear to have mixed the two tests--you can see it shows + |. it's just very funny to me because that's just not how those work lmao. (the digital tests that spit out pregnant or not pregnant on the screen are just fancy pink line tests. they just have a digital reader to see if there's one or two lines so you don't have to squint). also sematically i lowkey hate "we're pregnant". nah, only one of you is pregnant. "i'm pregnant, we're having a baby".
and onto season 4.
well. to start, maddie can have a cup of coffee. caffeine is not longer forbidden in pregnancy, they're told up to 300 mcg is fine. oh good, albert got her some. see this is why albert is my second favorite.
but this storyline does hit home a bit because i also had a pandemic pregnancy. luckily things were good enough in our county that my husband was able to participate in prenatal care as much as normal and we didn't feel like we needed to separate. though there was a lot of "hey you know that call you just wore a regular mask on versus n95 because it wasn't respiratory? that person tested positive." somehow we stayed clear in our household until january 2022 though lol. i was terrified when they did my covid test when i got admitted for delivery that it would somehow be positive.
anyways. we're getting to the buckley parents! i'm lowkey excited.
i did get scared when they deployed to texas though, i was very afraid i would have to see rob lowe on my screen.
but good, we don't. we have a terrible woman in the neighborhood in the next episode and can i also say that actress plays chessy in the parent trap and why would you do chessy like that, show!!!
oh man the buckleys are almost comically inept to me. like they're clearly not great. clearly they do seem to love their children. i can tell there's no sympathy for a parent who literally had a child of theirs die (i mean. yea. they did not handle it well.). i do have to laugh a little about the baby box thing because while. hm. obviously it's compounded by their overall terribleness but like. it's also kind of an unfortunate fact of life that younger siblings don't always get everything their older siblings gets because life gets so busy with multiples you genuinely don't have time or energy to keep up with the cutesy stuff. my sil is 9 years older than my husband. my mil did start a baby book for him...it ended at 9 months. she does feel a little bad about it. (my husband doesn't care and thinks it's funny).
like i will not defend the buckleys too much. they are clearly very dysfunctional. like the let's never talk about your dead brother and pretend he never existed is pretty awful, but aside from that, they kind of seem like. idk. run of the mill shitty parents?
every single one of these assholes has shown up to their first day without donuts. so rude.
wait. okay. watching the end of this episode. these are the devil parents???? the ones who don't know their children but end the episode finally telling him that they never blamed him and they're proud of him every day??? like. buck doesn't have to forgive them like he chose to. he doesn't owe them anything. but at least there's an attempt by them to try to make amends and apologize??? i mean it might be too little too late but they don't seem to be totally evil.
oh and they agreed to go to therapy with him to try and work things out????
wait. if the probie is b shift, that would make the main characters c shift, right? i was going to make a joke about c shift but then i looked up the actual lafd shift schedule and holy fuck is it needlessly confusing. 24on/24off/24on/24off/24on/96off? christ. people can barely understand 24-48 schedule sometimes. but they do have to do weird things to reduce total number of hours within the year worked on account of they work over 40 hours a week so weird schedules abound i guess.
anyways, it still works out to about 10 days of work/month like a traditional 24-48 does somehow so i guess it works. but why, lafd, why. that genuinely sounds like such a miserable schedule to keep track of i can't even-

If Julian Fellowes really intends to make us go through a GeorgeBertha divorce a la the Vanderbilts, can we at least have Alva's 1884 pregnancy first? I mean I am not usually a huge fan of pregnancy storylines but the least they could do is to give us something sweet to tide us over
(I mean I'm definitely not convinced it will happen, but just saying)

*spoiler* ngl im not mad at the plot twist the ivf storyline took. Yes, it’s sad Carina can’t have biological children. But she’ll still get to experience pregnancy, something she desperately wanted. Love that the kid will be part of both of them. Maybe the crossover episode will be Carina popping the baby out?
And it’s coincidental but I love that it mirrors what Daniel did for her friend.
Yes, I do like that they are now exploring reciprocal IVF because that's not something you see shown on TV much at all and Carina still gets to give birth (hopefully, whether we see it or not remains to be seen) which is something she's always wanted and I'm glad the showrunners made a point to say that in the interview about it so instead of Maya holding a little Carina, they'll hold a little Maya and I think that's beautiful too. It's just a shame that once again things have to be rushed/we may not see most of the storyline played out because of the cancellation because it would have been nice to see this storyline get the proper time/episodes that it deserves.
I'm not a huge fan of how much it seems to be mirroring Danielle's personal life at this point, especially if the rumors are true that Aspen is going to end up playing Marina's child in a time jump or something. To me that just seems too close to blurring the lines and they are basically repeating that whole situation and going as far as using the actual child? I don't know, it kind of makes me uncomfortable but I guess if she's just going to be used in a montage it's not a big deal.

The Hunger Games is massively overrated.
I was 14 when I read them and I liked the first one and was hugely disappointed by both sequels, especially Mockingjay. Fans now like to minimize the role of the love triangle and I understand why, because it did get more than its fair share of focus, especially when the movies came out, and it was probably unfair to treat it like a Team Edward vs Team Jacob thing. That being said, the love triangle does comprise a significant part of the book, especially in Catching Fire.
When I read the first book, I desperately hoped there would not be a love triangle with Gale. The thing is, everything good that is accomplished with that storyline could have been done without the love triangle. Katniss and Gale grew up together; they could be like family. That wouldn't make his involvement in Prim's death any less painful. The love triangle is there because it's YA. Also, I think some people are kidding themselves about how the book themselves were marketed, even before the movies came out. Katniss and Peeta's relationship was featured pretty heavily in synopses. Gale and Peeta do represent different lives for Katniss and different visions of the future, but that's hardly unique to this series; a lot of love triangles do that.
I also think the world-building is a little sloppy, and whether Suzanne Collins always planned a trilogy or not, my reaction to Catching Fire was that it felt like she didn't and once the first book was successful and there was demand for a sequel, she had to quickly come up with a way to put Katniss and Peeta back in the arena. The Quarter Quell is never mentioned in the first book, and I know Katniss and Peeta weren't alive for the last one, but their parents would remember it, and Haymitch participated. It's not that it's completely implausible that it wouldn't come up, but it's a little odd, and does have the effect of making it seem like a convenient excuse for a sequel. I almost would have preferred if sending Katniss and Peeta back was Some New Bullshit the Capitol pulled in-universe. There is precedent with the rule changes, plus they'd have the dual motive of Katniss and Peeta being good for ratings and an opportunity to get rid of them and hopefully kill the movement they accidentally started.
District 13 secretly existing felt way out of left field to me and I hated it and honestly found it kind of hard to believe. Maybe if there had been some more foreshadowing, different versions of how it was supposedly destroyed, something. It also diminished the Capitol as a threat to find out they didn't actually wipe out in entire district, even though they do that to District 12.
I personally didn't feel it was consistent with Gale's character for him to become so loyal to District 13 so quickly, because he always seemed more motivated by anti-authoritarianism than pure hatred of the Capitol. I'm willing to give this one the benefit of the doubt, especially since there may have been development we didn't see from Katniss's POV, but my impression when I read the series was it was a convenient way to show the problem with District 13, the corruption of someone close to Katniss, and that Gale was the wrong romantic choice all at the same time.
On a personal note, I was uncomfortable with the Katniss talked about her and Peeta having children in the epilogue. I know the intention, and I think maybe if we had actually seen that story in more detail it wouldn't bother me, but the way it was phrased did make it sound, on the surface, like Peeta talked her into something she was uncomfortable with. I know that wasn't what she meant, you don't have to explain that to me, but when I was reading it as a young teen my reaction was basically "I know this isn't what she meant but yikes." Especially when she describes how distressing her first pregnancy was.
The Hunger Games is social commentary and it's fine as social commentary aimed at teens, similar to The Giver having its own target audience. But I don't think it's nearly as brilliant as people like to say and I'm pretty skeptical of the whole "this was an anti-capitalist series that got nerfed by the movies!!!" attitude. I don't think it necessarily is anti-capitalist; a lot of works comment on rampant consumerism, corruption, decadence, etc. without condemning capitalism as a whole.
I was also very put off by the fandom on tumblr circa 2014 because they were claiming a lot of diversity that was not explicitly present in the books.

Can I share an unpopular opinion? I don't really think that Gwyn was as good a mother as most fan fiction tends to portray. She always gave me the impression of being too consumed with being a hotshot lawyer than a mother. And she did both Owen and TK really dirty when she was in Texas. She knew damn well she wasn't going to stay in Texas permanently (a posh Manhattan snob like Gwyn wouldn't last long in Texas) and she used Owen to get what she needed at the time. She was literally going to go back to New York without even telling TK if she hadn't been caught when he came home to find her stuff packed. Even when she "saved" him and sent him to rehab it felt like it was more about her feelings than about TK. I know Owen has issues, but he always struck me as being a much better parent than Gwyn.
Sure! You're welcome to share your opinions on the show. I don't know if you're looking for my view on what you've said or if you just wanted to vent or start a general discussion with others who might see this (which is fine), so please skip over what follows if you're not interested:
I really like Gwyn – and Owen, Andrea and Gabriel. They are all my problematic faves; none of them are simple, all of them have grit, and I love the depiction of parents-with-adult-children on the show. That said, in my own fics, I've portrayed Gwyn as a beloved, loving, much missed person who had to enter a crack den to save her son. I also see some of what you're saying, like she was always going to want to be back in Manhattan, even if a pregnancy with Enzo hadn't happened. I think it was always the plan to say goodbye to TK before she left, though. She just needed to compartmentalise at first and get far enough along in her move so he wouldn't be able to talk her out of it (headcanon, obvies). She said she and Owen want to talk to TK about it together (but I love TK’s reaction to that – it giving him flashbacks to when he was seven but this time he gets to stand up for himself).
Tbh it doesn't bother me that she's a hotshot lawyer any more than it bothers me that Owen is highly career driven, and presumably Gabriel too. We don't know about Andrea job-wise, but we do know she’s an attentive mother who let her son down in a big way nonetheless. With TK in a much better place, and an adult, Gwyn can focus on what she wants and make money doing something she loves (can’t relate). She also deeply loves TK, and I can only imagine how difficult it is emotionally to balance having kids and hugely busy high-stakes jobs. You can't be la-de-dah about being a parent, but you also can't fudge being a lawyer. You have to go H.A.M. Fun fact: I'm the sprog of a busy complicated yuppie who I constantly disappoint lol, so I have some skin in the game when it comes to trying to figure all this out, as well as forgive certain things and find peace. (All this is furthering a ridiculous notion I have about bringing Gwyn and Gabriel back as ghosts with unfinished son-business 😅, as I contrast them with each other in my head a lot). I'm not a huge fan of the pregnancy storyline, partly because the timeline drives me bananas. Wish they'd done it a different way. Generally, I'm up for exploring Gwyn's complexities and flaws more.
Ooof…. I strongly disagree re. taking TK to rehab being more about Gwyn’s feelings than about his wellbeing. She was at her wit's end and I see it as a last-ditch attempt to save TK; by that point into TK's addiction, I can imagine she and Owen were both hugely fatigued. It's immensely difficult to deal with loved ones with addiction. It causes frustration and anger that all ultimately comes from a place of love and care and just wanting the nightmare to stop for everybody involved, with the best possible outcome (recovery), and at some point you’re running on empty. Both Gwyn and Owen dealt with TK the only way they knew how. It's impossible at times to know what to do, and everything seems wrong. I recently rewatched 3x08 very closely because I was working scenes into a fic, and I found it highly effective and emotional. To me, their love as mother and son was crystal clear and beautifully played. She flew from New York to California and then immediately flew back again. Imo, that is something else – something totally desperate.
Owen and TK's relationship is what drew me to the show in the first place, and I also like that it's loving and close but also has its issues. Owen, Gwyn and TK have all been through a lot together and apart, they all have their flaws, and it makes them fascinating characters. I like that nobody is perfect – everyone is trying their best but messing up, sometimes big-time (this I can relate to...)
Tl;dr - I like our hot mess hotshot lawyer and her hot mess ex and son and the hot mess in-laws she never got to know. Really like the lilac jumper she wore as a spectre leaning against the tree, so shout out to that as well. You've inspired me to think more deeply going forward about her as a fic writer (I have a couple of WIPs in which she is important) so 👍

Avengers #200 Review: One of the Worst Moments in Marvel History (Comissoined by Brotoman.EXE)
Tumblr media
Trigger Warning: Rape, Manipulation, and Gaslighting.
Avengers #200.. is the worst thing i've ever had to cover ofr this blog. I thoguht after the 22 minute transphobic nightmare of quagmire's mom it'd NEVER be topped.. but as I wrote this the anger just welled in me more and more, every stupid line, bad decision, and gross bit of misogny and rape just pissed me off mor eand more and more. Quagmire's dad is close and it physically hurt to write this one too but not as much. I'm honestly suprised I finished writing this, but i'm proud I did but man was it a lot.
If you haven't heard of this issue… super good it means your life is slightly better. But in short it folllows Carol Danvers through the worst moment of her life. At the time Carol was , naturally, an avenger, having migrated from her recently canceled solo by Chris Claremont to the avengers and at what started as a good time: David Michlinne of Iron Man and Spider-Man fan started a , from what i've read of it that's not this steaming bowl of elephant piss, fairly good run, clarifying Wanda Maximoff's backstory , having nice dynamics with the team and writing Carol Herself well. Carol had just had her ongoing by Chris Claremont, which despite it's issues is worth checking out and also integral to the sequel to this story we'll also be covering shortly, canceled but was popular enough to get ported to avengers, and Michline continued the work claremont did having her as strong, indepdneent and badass.
So what to do with her next? Have her slowly work up to leader like future Captain Marvel Monica Ramebeau would? Have her serve? No his plan.. was to get rid of her by magic space pregnancy.
Tumblr media
See for a long time the Kree Supreme Intellgence, the incredibly huge head that rules the miltaristic Kree Empire, had wanted to end his species genetic stagnation, and thus was fascinated with Carol as a Kree-Human hybrid. So Dave's brilliant idea… was to have her be pregnant thanks to him.
Tumblr media
Yeah that's already not great, but likely would result in her fighting him. and the build up.. wasn't half bad. It still had both the terrible trope of "magic prengancY" which is RIFE with terrible implications on it's own and had a moment.. like this where David interprets "feminism" as "hates the idea of having children" instead of "Supports women's rights to CHOOSE if they want to have a child or not"
Tumblr media
But I chalk that up unlike the decision to do this storyline at all or it's awful, AWFUL conclusion to David simply not getting how feminism worked and to his credit when writing Mary Jane on spider-man, the years had taught him how to write an independent female character with a career driven mind with more nuance. I mean he still had her kidnapped and stuff but like… it's progress from "You know what would be funny and ironic? Have carol hate the idea of having a child, as is her perogative, and instead have her get forcibly imprennated?" I mean most writing decisions are better than that but I respect when a writer changes with time and actually evolves as he goes instead of stick to sexist belieifs.
Carol suddenly fates and at the hopsital dr. phil announces her prengancy with all the grace and tact you'd expect.
Tumblr media
"I mean what woman WOULDN'T be exicited to suddenly find out she's pregnant after three months and clearly didn't know it? It's not like they have a dangerous job where the baby couldn't of been hurt, could've been assaulted or GASP dont' want to raise a child" Women amirite?. Get used to that last one, as this comic has big "Women amirite" energy
Anyways next issue, we do get a genuinely tender well done scene as Carol admits her vulnerability to Scarlet Witch.. as well as her secret identity.
Tumblr media
It's a touching moment between friends and something Chris Claremont clearly remembered for his followup. It's also notable Wanda is one of the only people who seems to consitently think about Carol's needs during this whole debacle.. even if sh'es dead wrong about two thigns: that scarf she tied to her head is absolutely not working for her, and The Avengers are going to be as unhelpful as possible. Well okay unhlepful as possible would be chucking her into the grand canyon while 9 months pregnant, as she'll be shortly, but even that sounds better than some of teh shit they'll do and say.
Finally after an incident involving a giant samurai robot built to kill Godzilla, which also isn't even in Wanda's top 10 but does at least make the top 20, the avengers return to find Carol.. though weirdly Captain America, one of the sharper people in the marvel universe.. can't recognize carol despite not wearing her domino mask. I mean look the ms marvel outfit is fine but like… it's not that concealing. Though frnakly his reactiona t least makes sense as he's shocked since he only saw carol days ago entirley not pregnant. IT's the resonable reaction to finding out your friend has a rapidly escalating pregnancy. The less resonable ones are…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah these responses are a sign of things to come from these three idiots… and just for some context, Janet Van Dyne is fucking aweosme. Henry McCoy used to be fucking aweosme.a nd Simon Williams eh he's alright. But the weird dopplegangers replacing them for avengers 199 and 200 can fuck right off as their written so terribly it hurts. Janet wants to celebrate despite being told in THE PREVIOUS PANEL that she was suddenly 7 months pregnant, beast makes a stupid joke, and Simon CONGRADULATES her. I get Janet wasn't the firey independent woman she'd become post divorce but she still was empathetic enough not to do this. Hank is a certified genius and hindu sex god, he'd at least know whne not to joke and Simon out of all of them at least comes off like he had no idea what to say to any of this. It's also neat Donald Blake is way better to Carol than his alter ego will be, but we'll get to that.
Thankfully Janet is back to being herself for a moment next panel.. as the avengers worry.. and we get one heck of a cliffhanger
Tumblr media
Yeah the labor itself is normal. But everything about this is as nuts as it is awful, so join me under the cut as I get into the issue itself if you feel comfortable doing so. I'd normally just say join me under the cut but given the books contents (poitns to content warning) I feel just saying "GET IN THERE" isn't reomtely approraite. If you can though, come right this way
So with a bunch of the avengers waiting outside the Mansion's operating theater, where Dr. Donald Blake is tending to MS. Marvel. As for who donald is he's the alter ego of thor, who had one for most of his life till Walt Simonson decided "nah" and did away with that and most attempts to try it again haven't stuck. He's sometimes a diffrent being, sometimes just thor in a human body, sometimes a mad god after being stuck in his own pocket realm. He's a multifacted indivdual. Point is he's the doctor the avengers turn too when needed without most of them knowing he's actualyl mighty thor since they didn't want to bother to introduce another superhero doctor, kinda like how Doc Sampson is the psychatrist to most superheroes. At any rate he's operating with Jocasta. Jocasta is a mechanical wife built by Ultron, who being based on Hank Pym's brain patterns in the comics, decided to base Jocasta's on Hank's then wife Jan. But like all Ultron's creations except his robot dog I just learned existed
Tumblr media
Such a good boy he, she rebelled and became a sorta member of the avengers for a while. She also ended up dating Hank Pym despite being her grandfather as she saw him more as "god", and really given her own creator wanted to make her his wife, I can't blame her for not wanting to go with that line of logic.
Waiting around we see some other avengers: Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and the previously seen Wonder Man and Beast. For those more familiar with the MCU I don't really need to explain the first two. Hawkeye as you can see had one hell of an outfit, one that's both a tad goofy.. and really cool at the same time. Why they coudln't of just adapted this one but took off the giant mask (Which I love but get may of not worked on film), and isntead just gave him a purple bodysuit I don't know. He also had an actual personality instead of "Has family, did spy stuff, natasha was like a sister to him", being a bit abrasive, when just starting out he had a habit of challenging cap at every turn which makes them later being close friends all the sweeter, but ultimately a well meaning guy. He had his lapses in judgment and periods written as a total ass hat, see "getting mad his wife didn't save her rapist" and "any time brian micheal bendis has ever written him", but at his best he's a well meaning hot mess whose far more capable than most give him credit for .
Wonder Man is a sun glasses wearing fellow with a complicated history. In short, he was a faile dindustralist who was given super powers by the masters of evil, think evil avengers, and sent in as a mole. He genuinely bonded with them but his body seemingly gave out.. but instead his ionic powers put him in a death coma, and when he was brought back as a zombie he genuinely came back and thus became an avenger for real. The Vision was based on his brain patterns, with how he feels about Vision depending on whose writing him: At best, like under Steve Englehart, he sees Vision as a brother if it's a bit awkward since he wasn't ask. At worst, lik eunder JOhn Byrne.. he refuses because he wants to sleep with his wife. Most of the time though Simon is pretty likable, just not one of my faviorites.
Finally we have Beast. Most probably know his deal as he's been in almost every x-men adaptation and is you know awesome.. or at least was. But many are likely curious why he's an avenger. It's pretty simple: a few years before this the x-men's ongoing title ended, and for whatever reason Beast got a very short lived solo adventure. It's also where he got his iconic fuzzy apperance as he drank some science juice to give him an extra boost while exploring some corrupt employers and didn't change back in time. For whatever reason Steve Englehart took to this new version of Beast and had him join the avengers during an open tryout. He's also the one who gave beast his cheery personality, with Hank deciding after some moping to make the best of his new form. He and Wonder Man are best pals and he was a valued member for some time and it's why when you see him in the early chris claremont x-stuff, he's with the avengers, first asking the x-men to take care of a dangerious situation we'll get to next month, and then guest starring for a few issues during the dark phoenix saga, which we'll hopefully get to later this year.
So yeah while I just defended clint not a paragraph ago.. this is one of those total asshat periods as.. this is what he has to say abotu cap being understandably worried about his friend having a mystery child she dosen't rmemeber conceiving coming out of her about a day after finding out.
Tumblr media
YOU SEEM PRETTY WORRIED OUR CLOSE FRIEND HAS A DEEPLY TROUBLING MAGICAL PREGNANCY, YOU MUST HAVE PUT LITTLE STEVE IN HER AMIRITE? Anyways the birth goes on as WandaVision join them, and while everyone's worried, the birth is soon done and Doctor Blake announces
Tumblr media
God I wish it were Freddy Kruger. But no it's a seemingly normal baby they all coo over forgetting you know.. this is fucking weird. Also Beast thinks he'll be quarterbacking for the jets. I didn't know Hank liked sports ball.
Also at the birth are a recently arrived Wasp and Yellowjacket. For those less familar with two of my faviorite heroes, their Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym, but in the comics they were both around the same age as Scott Lang instea dof the previous generation. Their relationship also ended pretty badly with hank having a severe mental breakdown and phsyciclaly and emotoinally abusing janet. Hank did later make amends, get help , and what not but he never forgot wha the did nor stop trying to atone for it. So it makes it kinda awkward to see them here just a few years before all that happened. Hank was Yellowjacket becaause during one breakdown brought on by some lab chemicals, he developed a split personality that claimed he killed haank and Jan's reaction instead of.. telling her friends so she could cure him.. was to marry him like this. I can't imagine why no one voted for that one in the valentine's poll. At any rate Jan goes to check up on Carol, Ms Marvel at the time. Carol is.. abotu enthused about all this as she should be.
Tumblr media
Carol is right that both she was used, how we'll get to and this isn't a good thing. She's RIGHT to be pissed after being forced through birth and having everyone around her tell her. It's especially bad since for all we know she has postpartum on TOP of having been grossly used, and everyone's response is "OHHH A BABY SO CUTE WHO CARES IF HE"S A HORRIBLE MIRACLE BABY WHO POPPED OUT OF OUR FRIENDS UTERUS AFTER SOME UNKNOWN ENTITY POPPED IT IN HER" .
Tumblr media
So we get some interludes for a bit: Vision and Wanda happily make up for lost time (He stayed on duty during her sabstical), and both agree having kids right now probably isn't the best decision since they both have very dangerous very active careers, while we get a fun scene of Hank hustling Hawkeye at pool, using a calculator to easily fleece him. Both scenes that would be great and fondly remembered if they werne't in the middle of hell.
Speaking of which the demon baby speaks with one word "c'-change" Because apparentlye ven rapists self birthing baby men like david bowie.
Anyways after a guy ends up in another time period after coming back with groceries. This both has an explination and as we've sene is far from the most baffling thing in this comic
We cut back to Carol whose back up and about and in costume.. and we get.. this scene
Tumblr media
youtube
Okay this one isn't AS infurating as while Simon is still being a dick.. it's more of a "it was 1980 most men would likely say this kind of shit and not get what they were doing". The effects of having a child through rape, which is what this is and what it comes off as in Carol's reactoins, wreen't known and Simon dosen't get forcing her ot face her trauma this soon is bad. But at least he's trying to take her feelings into account and trying to help. He's doing it fucking horribly..but he's not going "OHHH BABY OOHHHH BABY" like he just ate some bad enchaladas. He's still a bit of a dick but it's at least more "this has aged poorly" than
SPeaking of which as you can see Beast's reaction.. is to give the now child nightmare baby some sports stuff but he instead wants electronics. Cap, apparently carying the team brain cell at the moment instead.. interogates him since it's obvious the kid has full intellgence.
Tumblr media
…. okay i'm really starting to wonder about that gas leak. So to recap in response to Cap wanting to honestly find out what is going on here, and spoilers Marcus, as he calls himself, ISN'T lying, and it's every bit as horrifying as it sounds but we'll get to that, Tony's response is "Oh just give the mystery baby who apparently impregnanted our friend against her will with himself it'll be fine". We then get simon being a full on dick as his repsonse to Carol not showing up.. is… is… this.
Tumblr media
I'm struggling to write this one because a good chunk of this comic is just… pure infuration. Just sexist nonsense about how Carol should just buck up nad face a baby she didn't want nor ask for that was raped into her and that it's just "WOMEN AMIRITE" while al lher friends give said baby man everything he asks for with no questions. Every panel is some form of character assasnatoin and it's not even the INTENTIONAL kind. It's so assinine their doing this purely on accident. I mean so far Jan has cooed over Marcus, Beast just wants to give him sports ball, Simon has berated his friend for not wanting to face her child by rape just yet that also done did it, Hawkeye cracks jokes about Steve being the dad, Tony and Thor give him electronics, and Jocasta hasn't been mentioned by me but is busy being mad Vision is with his wife instead of her, but at least has the exccuse of emotoins being new to her!! Steve , Wanda and Vision are either on the sides or have their own crap to deal with and Carol is you know HORRIFIED. Every other character is being butchred by this fucking thing. And given as I've said I love Hawkeye, Beast, Janet and Hank, it's PAINFUL to see them butchered by this and disgusting to see this done to carol.
Okay so back with the plot Carol decides to see her son when.. this happens
Tumblr media
…. just.. my god. The only thing more unsettling than this.. is the reveal of just what's going on her. Which is somehow worse than Carol eyehumping her newly born now adult son.
Tumblr media
The Avengers, somehow, have bigge rproblems as a spaceship, a t-rex and god knows what else are appearing outside as time itslef breaks down. And the ensuing actiona s most of the avengers go to deal with it… is pretty awesome. Like the scene with beast were this comic not what it was, this would be pretty badass. I mean iron man punches a dinosaur, vision lasers a ufo, wanda hexes a medivil witch hunting knight. It's all pretty dope stuff.
The dope stuff ends for a second.. with some racisit sterotyping.. and with Cap succumbing to the gas leak.
Tumblr media
Yes le'ts not assume the mostly naked man who mysteriously appeared inside your friend's uterus and has been buidling some science fiction tower in your house is behind time suddenly going apeshit. ONE OF THE 616'S GREATST STRATEGESTS EVERYBODY
So while Marcus finishes his machine, the rest of the avengers join the fight and while Vision takes out some lasers, Wonder man gets attacked by a prehistoric snake… and again while the rest of this comic is pure agony.. we get something really awesome. Like… all time i'm going to bring this up when possible awesome. Something that dosent' remotely make this worth it but helps keep me coherent enough to finish instead of just banging my head on the keyboard a few times and calling it a day.
Yeah you saw it here.. unless i'm halucinating this from the stress: Wonder Man just fast balled special a large prehistoic snake into a ptreodactyls' throat to free iron man from it's cluttches. Even in it's darkest hours shit like this reminds me why I love comics.. and it somehow gets better as thor's solution to all of this?
Tumblr media
BEHOLD THE THORNADO! Forget going to the head he should've just done THIS to thanos! This may be one of the coolest, dumbest, most awesome things i've ever seen. It also dosen't make this comic worth it but LORDY this is fun to look at.
We get some more as Jarvis, the team's butler instead of an ai here, cold cocks a musketeer and jocasta helps beat witch hating knight.. btu sadly the fun has to end as we get back to marcus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am crying tears of agony right now.. not a joke. I just… my god this is fucking painful to read. Someone WROTE that. I know they were desperate to rewrite things, but .. SOMEONE THOUGHT THAT LINE WORKED. Who.. what.. who what… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. tyghb hnhygghyghb vghkjklghg… I.. I had to stop banging my head on the keyboard I don't want to get more of a headache from this shit. Which sadly means I have to finish this. So hawkeye UNDERSTANDABLY thinks the almost naked man attacked his best friend and destroys the machine. Marcus cries then tries bating hawkeye , then the rest of the avengers into killing him
Tumblr media
Sadly.. they don't as his victim stands in their way and we get an explination.. and if you thought I was mad before, I have not BEGUn to rage yet. Okay so Marcus is the Son of Immortus, whose also a lot: So Immortus is the possible future verison of Kang the Conquerer, avengers foe and soon to be mcu big bad, a time traveler who conquers throughout time and space, hence the possible future self. He apparently died even though that makes no sense, but we don't have time to unpack that.
Marcus was born when Immortus saved a woman from a shipwreck then …
Tumblr media
Okay first off FUCKING EWW showing Immortus raping this woman on panel. Second , unlike with Carol they basically acknowledge this is rape,.. yet still romanticize it. RAPE IS FINE IF YOU LOVE HIM. So much horseshit and so painful to. Like.. did we need EXTRA rape in this?
And I do mean extra as we cinally get to marcus' OWN rape of Carol Danvers>... speaking of which ...
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Yeah… not only do we see his rape on screen too.. but they trry to protray him as diffrent.. despite unlike Immortus just kidnapping carol, using her for his own ends, and when he couldn't win her INFLUCING HER MIND. Immortus RAPED her. He brainwashed her into loving him, and into becoming his own incest baby. And when you look into his sick, fucked up thought patterns, you can see just how selfish he is: his thorughts are "I need someone strong enough to rapid birth me" not "I wonder how she'll feel about this" and he makes her love him when he can't get her to naturally. Marcus is a FUCKING monster and the story tries to paint hi mas sympathetic! He's a fucking rapist who put all of reality in danger because he was bored! and his only excuse for not helping was "Would you help if I told you I was the son of your enemy". Well probably not at first but they might've if you reached out. You coudl bring peole there, bring cap there, and give him a few weeks to get to know you. The avengers have the genius of tony stark and hank pym.. well not today, gas leak and all but usually! They coudl've helped you! Instead you raped a woman because you wanted to! Because at the end of the day it was easier to just rape your way into this world and because you WANTED to. And Jim shooter thought THIS was okay? I get he had to change gears but THIS wa shis first thought? and everyone went along with this? All of this can fuck straight off. Originally when I started writing this it was only tied for the worst thing i've read but nothing, not even the blatant family guy transphobia that once held the spot has made me this. fucking . angery. They had a character rape a woman and had the fucking GALL to try to go "oh but he's so sad and lonely". So was the Phantom of the Opera and you know what? He murdered a bunch of people even did a kidnapping but he didn't RAPE christine! He had weird conseual sex that produced a son accoridng ot the sequel but he didn't. You did. You violated a woman because you deep down wanted to and then told the story in a way to make you come out the hero while still BLATANTLY mentoining you manipulated her. It was right there, as Carol will rightly point out in the sequel. Marcus.. is a rapist and the story treats him as the hero
So Marcus explains he has to leave forever.. and….
Tumblr media
Yeah you just saw that. Marcus leaves.. and they LET Carol go with him despite CLEARLY not being hersel fat the itme, having hated this whole idea before seeing marcus and "suddenly" being infatuated with him. At the very least despite you know, helpng with the stupid tower plan, Tony is clearly like "what the actual fuck" and it's VERY clear he dosen't remotely think this is a good idea, want a part in this or want this to happen. Thor though? thor is like "ZOUNDS I'LL TAKE YOU THERE YOU WANNA GO THERE I'LL TAKE YOU TO THAT GREAT PLACE OF RAPE AND MORE MOLESTATION!"
And all we get of possible regret.. is this
Tumblr media
Go jerk off in a lake, both of you. Oh and in case your wondering, as I did ther eis some followup next issue and both simon and tony CLEARLY doubnt what they've done. Which somehow makes it worse as it's clear at least one of the writers knew this was wrong but coudln't stop it.
Tumblr media
Thor: God of Dickheads. Yeah as you can tell this issue is a disaster. I'm sure there were letters against it but most dammingly was the essay the rape of miss marvel published by one Carol A Strickland, which nicely details how utterly gross this was with less mental breakdowns than me but just as much anger.
Thankfully her stay wasn't long. And trust me in comics it can sometimes take DECADES for a bad decision to be overturned. The stupid ediotrially mandated retcon that Sam Wilson be a pimp took until the mid goddamn 2010's for a writer to formally say "this didn't happen", and shockingly easily and in a way that could've been done long ago. This only took a year as one of the many pissed off.. was X-Men's CHris Claremont. See before this Chris had written Carols' solo, so the first chance he got he fixed this and just to make sure nothing else horrible happened spirtied carol's body and mind over to Uncanny X-Men. HOw'd he do it? We'll find out next time. As for this issue: it's terrible, you shouldn't seek it out, and you should stay far away form it. You shoudlnt' forget it exist so shit like this dosen't happen again, and it should serve as a dark reminder of the worst comics is capable of.. but you don't have to go through it yourself. It's agonizing, terrible and gross and I feel bad for having read it and everyone involved feels as bad as they fucking should have fo rhaving made it. Thanks for reading, sorry it had to be about this.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, everyone but Sheila had left. She insisted on staying and said Jessie would watch the ranch until Christmas.
You think she just didn't want you alone because of the pregnancy, but you stopped pushing the issue and just let her stay.
Tumblr media
Monday morning, you got up early and went to your workout room. You placed your headphones over your ears and started with 15 minutes on the elliptical and then did 45 minutes of weight training.
Tumblr media
After you were done, you went upstairs to the kitchen where Sheila and Montgomery were cooking and chatting.
"Good morning, Doctor. Would you like some breakfast?" Montgomery asks.
"That would be great."
"A high protein?"
"Yes, please. I'll take a shower first."
"Yes, Doctor."
"Y/N. Should you be doing so much exercise?" Sheila asks concernedly.
"Yes. This is nothing. My doctor encourages me to work out."
"I mean, it's not going to hurt the baby?"
"No. Far from it. It's actually healthy for the baby. Now, if you'll excuse me." You head to your bathroom.
Tumblr media
"You need to fix this!" The woman's voice yelled angrily over the phone.
"Well, Mother. I didn't expect her to get married on her vacation," a male voice responded.
"I didn't spend my inheritance on you for nothing! FIX THIS!!"
"Yes, Mother."
The phone call ended.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You walked into work and the receptionist, Jane, stopped you while behind a large bouquet of flowers.
"Doctor Astor-Seresin. These came for you." Jane pointed at the flowers.
You looked at them.
"Your husband must be quite the romantic," Jane says as her eyes romantically glaze over.
"Yeah. He's a huge romantic," you say as you raise an eyebrow wondering if your husband would just send flowers out of the blue.
"I hope to find a man like that someday," Jane says, her eyes still glazed over, holding her hands together by her heart.
You take your flowers and start walking to your office. When you get to the door, you realized it was going to be difficult to unlock your door.
Tumblr media
"I'll take those for you," a familiar voice says behind you. You turn around and see Scott and hand him the flowers.
"Thank you." You unlock the door and walk in with Scott following behind you. "Just put those on my desk."
Scott did as instructed.
"How's your husband?"
"He's fine," you respond as you move some papers on your desk and turn on your computer.
"I'll see you later." Scott walks out of your office.
You look at the flowers questioningly, grabbed the card and opened it.
~I'm sorry.
-Scott
You pick up the flowers, walk through the doors of your lab and throw them into the large trash can.

i was wondering how you think it would be if everyone from New Orleans (let’s pretend hope does not exist) went to Mystic Falls and they literally see a pregnant Caroline…
how do you think klaus would react ?
Hello anon! Ohmygod lmaoo I srsly can't imagine the scenario. It feels like there's endless possibilities of how it could go. Honestly pregnancy tropes are not my type but well...
Okay jokes aside, I'm trying very hard to picture it and here's what I got. The ton will be absolutely shocked. The mikealson family flabbergasted at the news of it. At the same time I'm sure Caroline will be looking at them and be like "been there, done that" Like seriously I don't think they will be thrilled at the news at first cuz it's so out of the blue yknow. But well there's Elijah being Elijah and probably the first one to recover from the shock and react how he reacted in TO.
Caroline probably goes through a lot of mixed feelings and stress cleans lmao. I mean carrying the town enemy's baby?? lmao but she's also a mom person and is a good mom. Some part of her would want that baby and want whatever she and Klaus has between them to work. But I think it will take a long time for them to work past the rough patches they face with her being pregnant tho.
As for Klaus, I guess some part of him feels happy because it's Caroline periodt. But also he probably dislikes the idea of having a baby because it's a huge commitment for him. Oh plus his trauma since young about how Mikeal treated him. He definitely wouldn't want to commit to being a father which is totally understandable because what he went through was just so painful.
So that's what I think in my opinion. Glad you brought this up anon because I never really thought too deep into this since I'm not a fan of pregnancy tropes. Do feel free to text me or ask me further about anything at all hehe. This is so fun! <3
Lastly anon, if you're interested in this storyline, I highly recommend THE WOLF by @galvanizedfriend if you haven't read it!! The writing is insanely good and the plot omggshahsh. It's a rewrite of The Originals and you won't be disappointed after reading it I promise!! have a good day<3

Something I've noticed lately in the Call the Midwife tag is that a lot of people are focusing on 'Turnadette' to the exclusion of all else... meaning that there's little to no discussion of the events of the episode. No hate to Turner fans, I just find other aspects of the show more interesting, so I wanted to do a recap of the most recent episode and try to start some different conversations about the social issues it highlights.
SPOILERS BELOW!
This episode was a huge one for Lucille and Cyril - let's talk about Lucille first. She's been through a lot this series, first discovering that she was pregnant despite taking the Pill and having to adjust her expectations about what kind of home she would be raising her family in. Then, tragically, just as she was starting to get excited about her pregnancy, she experienced a devastating miscarriage. It was really heartbreaking to watch her deliver another woman's baby while going through so much herself - but as Lucille said, in the delivery room it is only the birthing mother who is important. So as a nurse and midwife, she feels she has to put her own feelings aside and prioritise her patient. But Lucille herself is also in need of care, which is where Phyllis steps in. I've really enjoyed seeing their friendship develop during this series.
Lucille also had to consider how motherhood might affect her career - a question that women are still asking themselves to this day. Retraining as a health visitor sounds like a good compromise, but would it take her away from Nonnatus House?
Cyril, meanwhile, was struggling with his own career path - despite being amply qualified and passionate about civil engineering, he's struggled to find a job in his field because of racism. I think this was really at the heart of his argument with Lucille; he feels powerless and at times resentful of Lucille, who seems to have so many more career opportunities available to her than he does. He even says 'there's no career for me here, a job is just a job' - as a Black man and a member of the Windrush generation, he is expected to work but not to aspire. There's also a gender angle, as he wants to be able to support his family but Lucille doesn't want to give up the career she's worked so hard for, which he misinterprets as a sign that she doesn't have faith in him. Of course Cyril does eventually succeed in getting a job, but I was struck by his conversation with the police officer, who is clearly engaging in racial profiling (still a problem in the Metropolitan Police to this day). Cyril is already at his lowest ebb, and now he's treated as a criminal when he's done nothing wrong. It was a stark reminder of everything that was and is wrong with British society.
Elsewhere, I'm still feeling sceptical of Matthew 'slum landlord' Aylward, but his relationship with Trixie seems to have taken a huge step forward in terms of both physical and emotional intimacy. I'm interested to see where this will lead - especially whether Trixie will ever tell Matthew about her struggles with addiction. Going to Portofino will no doubt remind her of that time in her life, so will she need to lean on Matthew for support?
I also haven't yet discussed the 'patient of the week' storyline about the Packer family. It was a horrifying story of domestic violence and abuse - which, as Trixie points out, are not always the same thing. It also touched on the issue of disabled people being abused by their caregivers, which is a real and urgent problem. Mrs Packer is able to conceal the abuse for a long time, in part because she is white and middle class - without these privileges, would she have been able to resist intervention for as long as she did? However, as we've seen earlier in this series, 'the Welfare' can be rather a blunt instrument when deployed against so-called 'problem families'.
END SPOILERS
This post ended up being much longer than I anticipated, but it just shows how much there is to discuss. Please reply or reblog and share your own thoughts on the episode!

ok i’m sorry cause this is literally sooo random but i was going through your posts and i agree with you so much in that i’m not always a huge fan of baby storylines for my ships and sometimes it feels so ooc and weird for them or it just doesn’t feel needed for their rl, etc. and not every ship needs a kid. also i agree with you that like i feel like both kate and anthony are so well-suited for parenthood and it’s clearly something they both want and i’m so excited to possibly see it onscreen like they’re gonna be soooo adorable and excited to have a lil family ☹️ it’s gonna be so sweet. and ik anthony is probably gonna be rlly freaked out and worried abt kate when she’s pregnant and they’re both gonna deal with trauma related to it (maybe) but i feel like he’s gonna be such an amazing dad after their baby is born and throughout her pregnancy and he’s gonna be so cute with the baby, like seeing them holding their own human they created in the background while everyone else deals with random relationship drama is gonna be so 😭😭 i do hope it’s benedict’s season for s3 cause i feel like that would actually be more interesting but i honestly don’t care as long as we see kate and anthony in some capacity, i miss them sm already :(
hi!! omg don't apologize. i've actually had dadthony brainrot all night so i'm happy to talk about it!! i totally agree, i think setting anthony up as such a loving older brother was a great way to show us he'll be a great father and i'm also hoping we see kate talk about how she wanted kids but never imagined she would have the chance etc. i def think anthony's trauma is gonna make him a nervous wreck while she's pregnant and i'm really excited to see them work through it together and talk about it. i think it's so special that they have such similar life experiences and can truly understand each other.
tbh i also wanted it to be benedict's season but i read an interview where simone said smth about it being penelope and colin bc she was excited to see them rock it and while anthony and kate are all loved up and how excited she is to play that. i kinda get the feeling that they're trying to intigrate all the arcs together and make it feel less like an anthology series. but same! i'm so excited to see them all married and 💓🥺🥺
i got so emo reading the 2nd epilogue of the viscount who loved me and i hope we smth like this at some point

I am livid right now, and y'all me, I'm a huge Owen fan and I love Gwyn buuut...
I'm wondering if this is setting up for a more tragic storyline for later in the season 🤷🏼‍♀️ not likely, but I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that something happens to Gwyn that is tragic. I don't know why, I just do. I kinda felt there would be a pregnancy announcement, and now I feel it's gonna lead to a bigger story
Not that we need a bigger story for Owen (I know, I know, everyone hates him). but it could also be a big deal for TK and those around them.
idk... just me rambling my thoughts away. thanks for listening!
ahh of course! my inbox is always open for rambling!!
but i did have that sinking feeling too. and i really really hope nothing happens to gwyn—in my dream world, she and owen decide to go their separate ways for good and she just goes back to new york after actually having some bonding scenes with tk. but writers love drama, so. i guess we’ll have to see where it goes!!!

7 huge Emmerdale fan theories that will blow your mind
What's next for the villagers? The superfans have some ideas.
Emmerdale fan theories, Cain Dingle, Robert Sugden, Moira Dingle.
In recent months, Emmerdale has really gained momentum. With new arrivals, flashback surprises during the special Big Night Out episodes, heartbreaking and hard-hitting storylines for Victoria and Lisa and, of course, the gripping twists in abusive Maya's downfall – it's been exciting stuff.
We all know one sign of a great soap storyline is if it gets fans talking. Currently, Emmerdale has a wealth of fan theories about what might happen next. Social media has been rife with speculation and we've put together some of the best theories for you to ponder over. Do they sound probable or are they way off the mark?
1. Victoria will give her baby to Robron
Victoria Barton confides in Moira Dingle in Emmerdale
ITV
One of the biggest Emmerdale theories of the moment centres around the outcome of Victoria's pregnancy after her horrific rape. As this storyline has played out in parallel to Robert and Aaron's struggling surrogacy plans, fans have put two and two together and speculated that Vic will give her baby to Robron.
While we know Victoria is pregnant, not much has been said yet about whether she plans to go ahead and have the baby. With brother Robert desperate to have a child with his husband Aaron, could Victoria's tragedy have an unexpected outcome for all three of them?
In truth, we have our doubts on this one, as it wasn't so long ago that Victoria was desperate for a baby herself, so we'll just have to wait and see what she decides...
I'm wondering if Victoria will have her baby and give it to Robron #emmerdale

Robert and Aaron are going to bring up Victoria’s baby aren’t they #emmerdale

2. Maya has groomed other boys
Maya Stepney in the woods in Emmerdale
ITV
Ever since manipulative Maya began worming her way into Jacob's affections, viewers have wondered whether she has done this before. She might have protested her innocence to the police and Jacob's loved ones, but her efforts to groom him have shown a clever and vindictive woman at work. Could it be that there are other victims of Maya out there? Could they be the cause of her downfall?
Viewers were quick to pick up on ex-husband Liam Cavanagh's reaction to her arrest and after all, it was Leanna who tried to warn the villagers what Maya was like long before we saw her true colours. Will it emerge that Maya has done this before?
Now it's out in the open it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out that Maya has done this before. #Emmerdale
— Penn Wooding (@BrixhamUK) May 22, 2019
Going to guess that this grooming #Emmerdale storyline will finally end with the revelation that Maya has done this before and that Maya isn’t her name.
Yes, I watch Emmerdale. 🐏🐄🐓

3. Laurel and Jai set to be Emmerdale's next big romance
Charlotte Bellamy as Laurel Thomas in Emmerdale
ITV
Forget Robron, Coira or Vanity – could Emmerdale's next biggest ship be Jaurel? After Laurel's disastrous affair with Bob, are producers lining up her next romance with another unlikely admirer? Fans think they've spotted sparks in the Sharma sweet factory between Jai and Laurel, and they've certainly been spending more time together in recent months.
Since Jai's last relationship with con artist Nell ended badly, he's been on his own and even actor Chris Bisson expressed interest in Jai having a bit of happiness. What do you reckon, could that be with Laurel?
Anyone else getting the feeling that Laurel and Jai are going to end up together? #Emmerdale
— Anzi (@Monkey_Moom) April 10, 2019
Is it me or are we getting Jai & Laurel vibe? 😊 #Emmerdale
— Sulagna (@maitra_sulagna) April 10, 2019
Think there's going to be a Jai and Laurel romance.. #Emmerdale @ITV
— Eleri (@EleriEdwards) March 21, 2019
4. Moira or Cain will cheat
Moira Dingle in Emmerdale
It hasn't gone unnoticed that things have been strained between Cain and Moira of late. With Cain spending more time with ex-flame Harriet, and Moira left to confide in new farmhand Nate, even the couple themselves seem to be aware they've hit a rough patch. With frostiness at Butler's and each of them spending more alone time with others, could this be a sign that Coira are doomed to split?
Theories circulating have predicted Cain might return to the arms of Harriet again or Nate's attraction to an older woman might mean he'll bunk up with Moira.
But Coira fans might not need to worry too much yet as actor Jeff Hordley's recent interview on This Morning suggested Cain and Moira are solid. Unless this was just to throw us off the scent...
I really don't understand where emmerdale going with the Cain/Harriet and Moira/Nate. I just know they love messing the Cain and Moria fans around. I just want them to have a decent storyline. Not in involving exs. I'm not worried about Coria they love each other ☺☺☺#Emmerdale
— Royal Princess Alice Rinderette 😘😘😘😘😊😊 (@WoodhouseAlice) May 16, 2019
Still can't help but feel the writers of emmerdale are going to split Coira up .Cain getting close to Harriet and then Moira cosies up to Nate not feeling positive but normally turns out ok
— Coirafanatic (@Lunascatcat) May 19, 2019
5. Is Mandy Dingle dying?
Chas Dingle attacks Mandy Dingle in Emmerdale
ITV
You might think the Dingles have had enough tragedy in recent times, but that doesn't stop fans speculating that there's more on the way. When Mandy Dingle returned earlier this year, she hinted that she hadn't revealed her biggest secret, and left without another word. While some fans predicted that her son Vinny could be Paddy's, others had more heartbreaking ideas.
Could Mandy's real secret be a terminal illness? Was her brief visit to Emmerdale to set up a later story where she makes peace with her family and comes home to die? Whatever Mandy's secret, we'd love to see Lisa Riley back in the village – her fun return was all too brief.
Is Mandy ill?? #Emmerdale

6. Jamie's mystery caller is Joe Tate
Alexander Lincoln as Jamie Tate in Emmerdale
ITV
There's no better way to get soap fans speculating than by throwing in a mystery phone call. Newcomer Jamie Tate has so far seemed nice as pie compared to his mother Kim, despite being embroiled in a car accident in his first week. Nevertheless, Jamie seemed clean cut until we saw he was hiding a secret – twelve missed calls.
Fans' thoughts immediately turned to Joe, once presumed dead and now AWOL somewhere in the world. Could it be him who's trying to get in touch with his estranged uncle? Or is there someone else desperate to get in touch with Jamie?
I bet you that’s joe ringing jamie #emmerdale
— 🌚 (@nottjayy) May 16, 2019
Did anyone else notice Jamie having missed calls from an unknown number? It's Joe Tate!!! He's coming home! 😀
— Dan (@DanONeil95) May 16, 2019
7. Adam Barton will make a return to the village
Victoria and Adam Barton fear Pete has threatened their adoption chances in Emmerdale
After Victoria's rape ordeal, we've only just begun to watch her heartbreaking story. But some viewers are already predicting there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Could a return of Victoria's ex-husband Adam Barton give her back some happiness?
We've seen how much Victoria misses him and with actor Adam Thomas reportedly keen to return, we wouldn't rule it out. But just what would this mean for Moira and her killer secret?
@emmerdale I think Victoria will keep the baby and Adam returns #Emmerdale
— Tam LizAnn ODriscoll (@tamlizann) May 9, 2019
Victoria will give the baby to Robert and Aaron and go in search of Adam her true love

Even Marina crumbs won’t be enough for me to keep watching , cause ya know they r gonna make the pregnancy and the baby all about Jack, I bet he’s gonna be in the delivery room and Maya won’t for some drama reason, and they are gonna make the kid a boy to give more excuse for Jack to be around….maybe even give his name to the kid or making him constantly babysit…
For me this storyline and show are tainted with manipulation of the audience guilt tripping them into having opinions and so on….
I have the episode in front of me but I won’t start it, if I do it feels like proving them right!
I’ll live through your awesome gif and commentary….
I’m just sad I lost one of the best wlw tv couple honestly…
It does feel like Danielle's video did work on a lot of the fandom, especially on Twitter. People really did a 180 and a lot of the comments ended up being positive, especially when replying to her tweets so I guess she knew what she was doing because it worked.
And now it makes sense why she did it before this episode aired because there was more about the donor storyline then I thought there would be. We got an official answer and Jack expressing how he wouldn't be able to just give sperm but them also saying he would be an uncle and have a "special bond" which is absolutely Danielle's input on her real life experience. So yeah, I think she did have an input in the storyline and that's why she seems a bit sensitive to the backlash it's getting but I wish she understood there's a huge difference in her real life experience and the show using Jack. They all want to pretend the cheating storyline never happened but we as fans are not going to forget.
For now I'm still attached to Maya & Carina as a couple so the little scenes/crumbs we get of them just being their cute selves like we did last night is still enough for me to hang on. But of course the minute Jack is included in every single baby minute moving forward and if he continues to be involved in more than an Uncle way next season and that's their whole storyline then eventually I can see myself getting to a point where even that won't be enough. But I totally understand your frustration and it sucks because as we all can see, there's so much potential there and the chemistry and connection they have is so strong and they can do so much with so little so it sucks that it's always wasted on the dumbest things nowadays.

So, the first half of the movie follows the 'happily ever after' fairy tales pretty closely, which is cool and all. Except that James Corden's 'The Baker' spends the entire time trying to sideline/send home Emily Blunt's 'The Baker's Wife,' and like ... why would you want to sideline Emily Blunt?!
Then things get solved - and it seems like a pretty quick movie, but you're like "okay, happy ending." I mean, sure there's the reversion to the more 'grim' fairy tales: Cinderella's step-sisters lose parts of their feet to their knife-wielding, greedy mother and lose their sight to her birds, and Rapunzel's prince is blinded by the evil witch, but like ... then there's a happy wedding-type celebration and all seems well. I mean, there's no real point to the whole 'giant' storyline, but then, movies aren't always great at finishing off all their storylines.
And then, just like that, everything changes. There's an 'earthquake' which is actually another giant, and shit just hits the fan.
Like, you literally have no idea what happened.
Actually, I guess the craziness starts a bit before that. Rapunzel's prince is blinded and Rapunzel is banished to a swamp - but just 5 seconds later, he finds her, and she cries some tears and he's cured. That leads up to the double celebration of both princes, and then everything that follows.
Cue giant #2. They were just having a huge celebration - and 5 seconds later, Rapunzel is separated from her prince. Cinderella is separated from her prince. The evil witch has gone from 'evil force driving the movie' to ... well, irrelevantly evil. The Baker's Wife cheats on him: no wonder they were sidelining her throughout the first half - she has no real development beyond just dying right after giving birth after the fastest pregnancy in cinematic history. The Baker and the Wife go from 'let's sideline you' to 'let's work together' ... to the miserable 'Imma cheat on you and blame it on the woods' in just seconds. Cinderella somehow knows after just seconds of being together pre-giant that she doesn't want to be with the prince anymore and separates from him. The prince is a doof. The whole reality that Rapunzel is like the Baker's sister or something is completely ignored, even after they brought it up near the beginning.
Like, yes the story needed multiple conclusions and we sort of got some of them, but like ... where the hell did this all come from? I don't mind the sudden change in tone, but like - it's like just in a split-second, every character's personality just completely changes. It's like they left out a good half of the movie in between.
I do like some of the songs, and I do like most of the actors. But, well, the movie leaves a bit to be desired - and while I'm sure some of that is just due to high expectations (Anna Kendrick! Emily Blunt! Meryl Streep!), some of it most definitely is not.
In true fairy tale fashion though, all our main characters lose someone they love/care about at the end: Cinderella her prince, the Baker his wife, Jack his mother, Goldilocks her grandmother and mother, Rapunzel the mother-figure (though, she did turn evil and get shunned by Rapunzel at the end); the Prince his Cinderella, the evil witch her Rapunzel and her life, the Baker's wife her husband and the prince and her life, the wolf his life.
Fairy tales are weird.

I really cannot deal with either the brain injury storyline or the Sebastian one for much longer they have both been problematic from start and still are now I'm actually quite surprised that Emily, Ryan and Danny have gone along with the storyline and not expressed their feelings as surely they know how problematic it is.
It doesn’t surprise me Emily’s gone along with it. When she was hired, she must have been given some inkling about where her characters story was heading (and even if they only had 6 months drafted, a pregnancy takes care of the next huge chunk of time too).
The thing that bothers me is there were small adjustments they could have made to tell the same story, but make it so much less offensive to genuine groups of society.
Tie Robert’s cheating to his character, not the entire group of bisexual people, if cheating is the plan. Change “I’m not going to cheat on you because I’m bi” which he said several times over 5 months to “I’m not going to cheat on you just because I cheated on Chrissie.” That ties it to Robert the character, not “All bisexuals cheat.”
Make Aaron make a decision to leave Robert on his own, don’t chuck in the self harm for 4 episodes then drop it and ignore it for months. And when you do get back to it, only mentioning it in passing. It makes Aaron’s (and real peoples) self harm struggles less. Less difficult, less traumatic, just less. It should never have been used for the robron break up.
Give Rebecca a perspective. I made a long post about this one before, but who did we see reacting to the baby’s gender? Robert and then Aaron. Who did we see concerned about miscarriage pains? Robert, Aaron, Vic and Chrissie. Who’s reaction did we see to scan photos? Robert, Aaron and Lawrence. Rebecca was never allowed to be an expectant mother, she was only allowed to be “robron’s problem.” Which is one reason she was never liked and now it’s too late.
There ARE tweaks that could have been made to make this story more palatable, less misogynistic and less biphobic while telling the same story. Plus the repeated references to Rebecca being able to give Robert something Aaron couldn’t from Rebecca, Aaron AND Robert in different guises is plain anti LGBT.
I don’t know how they first sold it to them, and I doubt they’d have highlighted these issues, the consent issue (bisexuals are statistically the most likely group to be sexually assaulted) and a host of other problems when pitching it to the actors. And at the risk of bringing a whole world of trouble down on my head, Danny has been biphobic on twitter and in interviews, so there is that.
I think most of these issues were and still are brushed under the “fans don’t like it” carpet. Which is a shame because genuine concerns are there, which are being ignored. The representation of minorities has been shockingly bad.

I'm still confused about what they are doing with Rebecca, is it bad writing or can you see a twist coming? And about the baby, her bump has varied or been non existent for months and now it remains massive. I thought she was supposed to give birth in December but now she looks like it could be any day now?? sigh.. this mess gives me a headache. Its like they gave up writing the storyline half way through
Okay, here is my advice with trying to understand the character, just don’t. It’s not worth it. Her personality and motives are changed daily to fit whatever plot point they need for others in that moment. It was kind of bad in the beginning but not as bad as it today. Can you literally tell me the last time Rebecca appeared onscreen and advanced her own story or had a scene that wasn’t about other people? It’s been since like June or something. She literally only appears in scenes for others’ benefits. She has no real story. She’s a walking plot device. They could be doing so much to create a character with this pregnancy but it really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things because the character will be gone in a few months. Why invest?
The problem is the show never took the time to actually figure out what they wanted her character to be. They’ve changed her so much because they just like to use her to advance other people’s plots. You have to realize that a lot of the changes in her were written before she even aired. The show writes about 4/5 months in advance so everything from her introduction to January was already written before any input from the fans. The show didn’t try to soften her because of the fan backlash but they do it for the plot. They wanted her to be the victim of Chrissie’s at first and then they would redeem Chrissie through Rebecca. Then they vilified Robert through her but I’m not sure why at this point.
The biggest changes that have been made to the character are the minimization of her in this story and in the village. If there was some huge plan to keep her and make her the last standing White they would be doing more work. They would be having her making more friends and being apart of other plots. They wouldn’t have Robert shouting off how much he hates her and that baby. They wouldn’t be painting her as this huge albatross in the middle of Robron who are the endgame here. They literally wouldn’t have Aaron, Liv and even Robert acting this way to her. She’s just a plot point for Robert to get into Home Farm as is the baby. I’m just not sure what they do with them afterward that is if they were gonna be keeping them at all.
At this point, I have no idea when they are gonna have her give birth but I can’t see them sustaining a bump that big through December. There is no way. This whole plot is very tedious at the moment and I can’t seem them dragging it out much longer, but also with Moira’s birth coming up I’m just not sure how this all fits together. I would guess since Rebecca is a bigger part of the Robron story then the Whites she must disappear offscreen while they do and she’s not involved as much. I don’t know. It doesn’t fit. When the show did the two live births during the 40th Anniversary episode it made a lot of sense. We had the birth of a boy and a girl, plus the circumstances around their births were very different. Jack was conceived for Sarah and it was a huge plot point in the Killer Cameron saga, and well Molly was a much wanted and loved baby. With Moira and Rebecca basically having very similar stories and having them both have baby boys it feels odd for the show to do that unless something happens to one of them.
I don’t know if the show gave up telling the story halfway through or they just realized when Rebecca was introduced a lot of points of this story just weren’t going to work and so they’ve made changes but couldn’t scrap it completely. To me, they never really committed to the pregnancy as a thing outside of plot to separate Robert and Aaron. Since the reveal, the baby has been the thing that would destroy them. It was always there. They made it clear. Maxine is usually pretty deliberate in her writing so that line was not a throwaway line, but it’s actually the most consistent part of this story. They don’t work as long as the baby is around. It keeps coming up and like I could have bought switching the narrative and making Aaron accept it if they hadn’t done the self-harm stuff. That’s where this loses the plot for me and I guess I would honestly expected the show to stop framing the baby and Rebecca as the /problem/.
You can sell someone changing their mind or coming around in a soap, but there is a narrative way of telling the story. You have to more ambiguity. There really isn’t any at this point. Robert hates Rebecca and the baby and just wants Home Farm to fill the Aaron shaped void in his heart. Aaron hates Rebecca and the baby and doesn’t want anything to do with Robert as long as they are around. Liv is no fan of Rebecca and this baby as well, so at this point, we are close to her giving birth where are they gonna make the switch narratively? They should have done it months ago and I would argue should not have had statements like ‘I hate her and that baby’ and the same goes for Aaron. Again, you can do whatever you want in a soap but usually, these kinds of huge narrative switches don’t happen suddenly in stories. It’s years later or there is enough ambiguity to allow multiple outcomes.
This is really long and very rambly (plus off topic), but I think the show is stuck at this point. I think they had general ideas of where this story was going and potential endings but realized very quickly that this was a bad choice. They not only got destroyed by fans but also by the press so now they are trying to make adjustments as best as possible. That’s probably what has led to a lot of frustration from Danny & Ryan as they don’t get the point, and probably why EH has struggled to play this part as she has no basis for her character.
Basically, it’s a mess because the show doesn’t know what story it wants to be telling and it’s probably best to disengage with figuring out logic or reason till it’s over. Maybe then it will make sense but I’m not sure there can be a satistifying conclusion to this story.
