Somewhere else, in a seemingly abandoned building on the outskirts of the city, a figure shrouded in darkness and wearing a dark cloak plots.

In front of them is a whiteboard. It’s covered in pictures, sticky notes, and illegible texts. Some of the notes thrown about that are legible are ‘fight…’, ‘draw blood.’, and ‘DEATH!!!’.

There’s a crude stick figure drawn in the corner of the board, it’s impaled. Other small doodles can also be found all around the board.

Most of the information and pictures are connected by red strings, like you see in movies.

In the middle is a picture of 2 people sitting on a motorcycle, the arms of the person sitting in the back are around the waist of the person sitting in the front. The picture has some arrows pointing towards it and the people in the picture are very obviously circled.

Though the face of the person driving the motorcycle is obscured by their helmet, the other person seems to be heavily blushing and grinning broadly.

“Yes… yes! That’s it! I know what to do…” They seem to be speaking to themselves.

Quickly, the person scribbles down a barely legible ‘sacrifice!!‘.

They start cackling.

“Mwuahaha!”

It’s an evil laugh they’ve been working on for quite a while now, and they’re pretty proud of it.

However, the effect is slightly ruined when a fly enters their mouth, cutting off their cackling with choking as they gasp for air, grasping at their throat.

A few good thumps against their chest, with some coughing out their lungs, helps them dislodge the fly from their throat and they spit it out on the ground. They take a few deep breaths before straightening up again.

“Curse you” the person exclaims, angrily waving their fist at the fly as it flies away.

Bruce’s face gives off nothing as he stares at the streets down below. He’s dressed as Batman, crouched at the edge of a building with Damian by his side as Robin. Spoiler, Black Bat, Nightwing, and Red Robin are further back on the rooftop.

They watch in silence as another group of the Joker’s goons passes by. They’ve been all over the city, wandering around, not doing anything obviously illegal.

They don’t stay in one place and they don’t seem to have much of a purpose. No attacks… No stealing… No smuggling or transport of goods… No, instead they’re inspecting every single inch of the city.

They don’t seem to have any weapons on them. All they’re carrying on them are some flashlights. While most don’t give anything away with their body language or expressions, some seem to give off a bit of anxious energy.

Spoiler claimed she even saw some of them climb down into the sewers earlier and then climbing out again sometime later somewhere else, but this time ‘dejected and stinky’.

One thing seems clear to the Bats.

They’re searching for something… or someone.

“This basically confirms that not even the Joker’s henchmen know where he is. He’s missing.”

“I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing”

“Good… thing?”

“It’s… something. That’s for sure.”

“We don’t know if he’s really missing. For all we know it could be a trap. What if the Joker is hiding, pretending to be missing to have us bring our guard down? Besides, how could he be missing? He’s the Joker. No one’s just gonna kidnap him”

“For all we know he could be lying dead in a ditch somewhere”

“I highly doubt that”

“Everyone, focus” Bruce speaks up, having them draw their attention to him.

“It’s unclear whether the Joker is simply hiding away or missing. Instead of focusing on the why, we need to focus on the where. Missing or not, we need to find him and get him back to Arkham. Oracle, have you managed to find out anything from the footage yet?”

“Nope, still nothing. All the files from the moment he enters Crime Alley are wiped and any attempt at recovering them only brings back corrupted files.”

 “We need Red Hood. Where is he?” Bruce asks.

“He still has his phone on silent and he has removed the trackers and cams. We haven’t placed any new ones on him yet”

“Let’s visit him on his turf then. And keep an eye out for anything suspicious in the meantime. Oracle, try recovering the missing files. If that doesn’t work, go back to the breakout footage. Perhaps he left some kind of clues about his plans or whereabouts behind there.” Bruce states.

“Roger that.”

Red Hood has his arms by his sides as he gazes down upon the street below from the rooftop of a random apartment building in Crime Alley.

He’s lucky to have avoided the Bats so far. But he doubts his luck will last for long.

Red Hood stiffens as he suddenly feels something clamp down on his arm. As a reflex, his other hand has already drawn his gun.

He slowly raises the arm he felt something clamp down on and looks at it, only to make eye contact with a girl with black hair and blue eyes who has sunk her teeth into his arm and is now hanging off of it.

The teeth are sharp, as the girl seems to have some small fangs. They’ve gone through his jacket and sunken into his skin.

It doesn’t really hurt all that badly though, probably hasn’t even drawn much blood, and that’s one of the only reasons Jason hasn’t flung the kid off of him yet. Another reason is the fact that it’s a kid.

They both stare at each other for several seconds.

As Jason takes her appearance in, he notices that she seems rather familiar. In fact, she looks like a more feminine version of Danny, or if Danny had a twin.

The person hanging off of his arm looks younger than Danny though, probably a teenager around 13 or 14, if he had to make a guess.

Slowly, he puts his gun away and takes out his phone with his other hand, watching the random girl’s eyes follow his movements. He raises it level with her face and snaps a picture, quickly sending it to Danny and ignoring the girl’s curious gaze while she’s still hanging onto his arm by her fucking teeth.

Meanwhile, Danny checks his phone to see Red Hood sent him a message. He opens it and is greeted by a picture of Ellie in human form biting down on Red Hood’s arm with the caption ‘this yours???’

Songs are my bread and butter when I have character brainrot bc like with web weavings I feel like there are so many emotions and thoughts you can communicate about something so simply through one… (Which for anyone interested here’s my web weaving tag, got 2 about Chil). Ok everyone saw this coming but this ask ran away from me and I ramble about some song lyrics I associate with Chil & different facets of his life below the cut. Some people find my, ehem, heated rambles about Chil entertaining, this is your cue to get out the popcorn.

When thinking about songs for Chil I have 3 angles I take: About Chilchuck, about him and his wife, or about him & Marcille. Marchil is so engraved into me with their arcs together, that they’re like the concept of closure and letting go and letting yourself live again to me, sorry for all the non-enjoyers… I think currently my top song for him is Jackrabbit by San Fermin, because it combines all three it makes me go wild. It’s about trepidation… Throwing yourself into it even despite the fear (working with traps, survival in poverty where you have to rush & hustle), or just staying there paralyzed(not reaching out to his wife). Flight or freeze!! Saying goodbyes and saying hellos!! Not dying alone!! The life cycle of a wild rabbit living and dying, the baton pass race of life from generation to generation!! Chil and his daughters even!!! Going through life at a frenzied pace!! It is so Chilchuck and so marchil, and the music does give that hurried and scared energy to me too, and sigh the Marcille side to it with fear of death too…

Extra fun context but the other day on the discord server we were talking about what animal each character’s fursona would be as we do and I thought of a rabbit for Chilchuck: Quick footed, ‘cowardly’, small and frail and seen as weak 🙃, athletic and slender, pulls stunts, stressed out, has very fine hearing and has good instincts, etc. And ofc that fits really well with Marcille since she’s kinda associated with dungeon rabbits hehe~ But I think while Marcille’s 100% the cute round rabbit Chil’s more like a brown hare, more wild and like, more like a jackalope if we’re still doing monsters... I do lowkey find it more fun than his associated monster being mimics because he’s crabby, because they’re clever (with where they place themselves) and because of how he has a soft shell but soft insides, lol.

In regards to GUNs contingencies on Tails, are there fears to Sonic's reactions if such contingencies where found out warranted?

Hmmm. . .

I'd say their fears about Sonic's reaction to the Tails contingencies are probably overblown. I'll explain the "probably" in a second.

Sonic's not the type to go berserk and start destroying things over a plan that hasn't been enacted yet. That's more Omega, Amy, or even Shadow's speed. There's very, very few things that would cause Sonic to truly snap. GUN is correct in that serious/lethal injury to Tails is one of those things, but that's where their accuracy on the matter ends.

My personal take on the matter? I don't think much would change if Sonic found out. Sonic's relationship with the organization is already really rocky- he tolerates them, only barely. The events of Sonic Adventure 2, where GUN went crazy and tried to frame and then capture him, are probably still fresh in his mind. In my headcanon land, where Team Dark are GUN operatives, I imagine that Sonic has gotten more chill with the organization- slightly. Very slightly. He still tries to avoid them if possible and hates working with them, though he'll do it if it's the Right Thing To Do.

If Sonic found out that GUN had plans to kill Tails should Tails go rogue, it'd be a pretty serious blow to what little trust Sonic had in them in the first place. I imagine that he'd get pretty pissed, avoid them even harder, and maybe trash some of their robots, but I don't think he'd ever go as far as launching an attack on one of their bases or hurting anybody. Not unless they acted to attack Tails, in which case all bets are off and GUN better start writing their last will and testament.

About that "probably"- the nature of any sort of emergency planning is to be more cautious now rather than have to suffer for the lack of preparation later. GUN thinks that there's a chance that Sonic could be seriously turned against the organization if he finds out about this contingency, and rather than risking that small chance coming true, they go overboard with stringent protocol. That's because Sonic turning on them is, in their minds, the worst case scenario. Better safe than sorry.

TL;DR: Sonic's a pretty chill guy and his relationship with GUN is already pretty rocky. I don't think things would get much worse for GUN as a result.

i have seen a lot of your posts mention canine-like qualities of the echani, but i don't seem to be able to find anything like that in the official sources of information. i tried looking for a post where you establish the idea, but you know how tumblr search system works: it doesn't...

could you explain the concept or link to a post where you originally talked about it?

Certainly! As it turns out, I didn't have a post written up and simply rambled about it in the tags...which I thought I had explained the concept before, but oh well.

The only official lore of the Echani, besides that of the Thyrsian subspecies, is that they are similar biologically to humans, have body-reading abilities, and light/dark-hued appearances. Which, as you can tell, is not only sparse but probably the least alien thing you can think of when making an 'alien' species. Star Wars tends to place a lot of emphasis on humans with a different coat of paint. There is also the fact that they are rumored to have ties to Arkanian experimentation, which might suggest their similar appearance. There are no ties to canine biology in official lore.

My added headcanon is that they are descended from the Echa'olm, or the wolves of Eshan (Echani homeplanet), as canine species are incredibly movement-sensitive in a similar way to how their body-reading works. Their coloration would carry over as well, since dark brown/black and white are common colors amongst wolves.

Echa'olm are, sadly, a fanspecies, but one cobbled together from multiple concepts I've seen online--none of them canon. This idea mostly came about because of my desire to see such a vague species have more alien traits besides being non-human. While one could attribute the pale features of Echani to Arkanians, I thought it would be more interesting to have a biological explanation beyond other-species' meddling, and an example of a canine species that are more alien within rather than out (opposite, to say, Bothans).

I've been thinking a lot about how because there are people who are easier on female villains because they're hot there are also people who are too hard on female villains because they're hot because they assume there's a bias towards beautiful women getting away with crimes.

There is also a bias towards ugly female villains when we do get those so overall we've wrapped back around to things being rougher for women overall lol.

Yeah, man, even evil ladies can’t catch a break, smh. 😩

Just since we're on the topic of villainesses in general, might be a little OT to your point but this just reminded me of how it always drove me nuts whenever I would read or hear things about how they never made more storylines with Sedusa in the OG PPG because it was too "difficult" to do or whatever. I wonder if the difficulty wasn't so much letting an awesome villainess thrive and do her seductive, evil thing and more that the network wouldn't let her? Maybe? If it wasn't the network though, that makes me seethe/rage because, okay, you couldn't let her just be bad without being seductive? You’re viewing her as that one note and not bothering to do anything about it? You just make this villainess and go, "Well, her power is seducing, guess she can't ever have any other powers or do anything else it’s impossible to be creative about that shruuuuuuuuug." It's similar to the reasoning to take Ms. Bellum out of the reboot, "She's too smart!" but with Sedusa it was, "She's too hot!" Okay, yeah, sure. 🙄 The comic did a couple of storylines where she wasn't trying to seduce anyone and was just being her awesome bad self (usually things to do with like something beauty related but at least it was SOMETHING…) so I mean... it was possible to do! But they never did it. I don’t know. That’s something that gets a little under my skin sometimes when I think about it.

Speaking of the reboot, props to them for one thing: actively trying to make new female villains even though those ones kind of totally absolutely sucked (and actually they did take Sedusa out of the show entirely, so… it all cancels out in the end I guess). At least an attempt was made, albeit misguided, which I can't say much for in the OG show because... I mean, as wrong as Femme Fatale was about most things, when it came to female villains the girls basically did only really fight that bratty girl and the chick in the underwear and then the show… never really addressed that again (this kind of thing could also probably tie into part of my criticism of Members Only and why I think that was written with the girls kind of being OOC but that's a rant for another day lol).
