The way that post is phrased is certainly very doomposty, hm? Unfortunately, I have pretty good reason to suspect there is more truth than falsity in it.

You see, while I don't usually put more negative posts on my blog (mainly because I don't want my blog to be a very depressing place, more for myself than anyone), that isn't to say I do not keep watch on current events and whatnot. I pay attention to what goes on around me. I know a few things. And if there's one thing I'm good at, it's pattern recognition.

And unfortunately, Tumblr's inevitable demise is something I saw coming from a mile away. All major social media platforms, from Twitter to Instagram to Reddit to maybe even fucking TikTok (though don't quote me on that last one), have currently been imploding as well. Tumblr is simply the first to see the end goal of this trend: utter demise from an unsustainable industry fuelled predominantly by Wallstreet investors once the very thing that let it succeed in the first place, a vastly lowered bar to gaining investors due to the economy crash of 2008, has vanished entirely.

Tumblr was never profitable. Most social media companies aren't, actually. This is why you've been seeing so many weird and often counterintuitive changes to layouts and features, whether here or elsewhere. These companies are desperately trying to turn a profit they will never be able to make.

So to me, while the knowledge of Tumblr's days being numbered does makee uneasy, I can't say I'm really that shocked in the end. It wouldn't shock me if other platforms start waving similar flags sooner rather than later too. It all adds up and into the trend I've observed.

Also, hey... Don't act like I'm gonna be leaving anytime soon. Tumblr ain't dying this year. And until that day comes, I'll be here. If there's anything you ought to know about me, it is that I am horrendously lazy. I'm simply warning others what to watch out for.
