was talking w a friend about this last night and i think another reason i feel that s3 should combine tvl and qotd is bc i want an actual dynamic between louis and gabrielle. like i've only read the first 3 books in their entirety but the fact that louis and gabrielle spent most of qotd and we don't really get any idea what they think about each other or anything is a crime. and like having gabrielle reveal parts of lestat's past to louis i think continues those threads of a story belonging to whoever tells it and the way gabrielle sees lestat is different from the way louis sees him and how lestat sees himself and the "true" version (if such a thing can exist) lies in the gestalt of all of those things. like a parent sees their child differently than they see themself and a spouse would also have their own perspective. but then bc of how fucked lestat and gabrielle's whole thing is, the lines between parent/child and lover begin to bleed into each other in a similar way that louis and lestat's relationship also has that overlap between spouses and sire/progeny that i think the show has already shown interest in examining in a very compelling way. i think it makes more sense too bc s1 and apparently s2 are incorporating the relevant parts of tvl already so it makes sense to not wholly dedicate a season to a single book going forward (esp bc a lot of these books don't have full plots that are worth adapting lmao)

#louis and gabrielle having an actual dynamic is so important to me bc it would be actually insane #and i'm so angry that the only reason they don't in the books is bc anne didn't like those characters and didn't feel like writing them #but the show obviously loves louis and is interested in exploring his psyche so i hope they keep it up w this and add more layers #and i think there are multiple instances in the series of doubling that are never explored in any meaningful way that the show could- #do a great job w and further the social commentaries they're making in the show #anyway i don't really like speculating on further seasons before the newest one is out but it came up last night and now i'm hoping this is #where they go w it (esp if they do choose to introduce gabrielle in s2 which i don't necessarily think they should) #vampterview

#image commentary in tags once again since they don't allow captions anymore and I feel weird using the alt text for that -- #1. bright very poofy cloud sky #2. saw these weird bugs on a sidewalk that were clustered in a pile and some of them were sitting butt to butt or something.. I wonder if #that's how they mate?? or maybe just some sortof strange bug fight or something.. interesting little creature party happening #out on the pavement on that day #3. Its kind of hard to see but on the inside of this watermelon there is a slightly lighter formation that sort of looks like a heart shape #4. special breakfast of scrambled eggs. soy sausages. and jarred artichoke heart. with some black coffee and whipped cream + a strawberry #5. ARBY.. fish ...traditional summer treat available only until like september maybe for like a month. but I love them because theyre cheap #lol.. the next closest/cheapest fried fish sort of option that is easily acessible to me is a more upscale fast food place where you can ge #three tiny little chunks of fish maybe the palm of your hand sized for about $17 lol... so 4 arby fried fish chunks for like $5 is good #6. & 7 - very cool sunset colored sort of pink/yellow/orange flower I found growing wild in someone's yard #8. got as a gift from someone who got it for christmas but didn't really want it and asked if I did since everyone knows Im like The Person #Who's Obsessed With Cats out of any group of people.. but I still havent done it lol.. it just sits there gathering dust until I have #the time on top of my 600 other projects. #like bro it's ok to not have an opinion on something if you don't know just say i don't know and move on #there's too many fucked up things going on in the world it's perfectly natural to not have proper information on a topic of debate #just remove yourself from said debate theres no needto go marching in with limited information and spreading even more misinformation #i see so many people around my age posting random political stuff be it religious or about lgbtq or women even and they haven't read #a single article about any of these topics ever #their only source is sketchy social media posts or “dark jokes” about a certain community making them think it's cool to shit on them #or random “sigma” edits of things and suddenly the most random stuff becomes everyone's favourite mainstream political affiliation #like have you read a single policy pertaining to this government or do you have a single reason for violently hating a certain community #i understand that some people are genuinely interested in these topics and that is absolutely wonderful it's great that young people have #opinions and commentary on world issues but only when this stems from an area of genuine interest and when at least some effort to be #factual is made not when it's only done because everyone else is doing it and they have some weird sort of fomo at work or they just think #it's funny or wtv without understanding the implications of their words and actions #no one is forcing you to involve yourself in every social issue but the moment you choose to make commentary on a social issue you must take #the responsibility of educating yourself as best you can before you open your mouth

So it seems like tumblr has finally rolled out the new post editor for photosets, which does mean it is finally the end of the image captions

For those of you that are unaware, in photosets you have the option to add a ‘caption’ to the image, that shows up when it’s clicked (see below). I love putting little comments or jokes in many of my photosets, and was a big fan of this feature

Going forwards it looks like this has been replaced with an alt text option for each photo, which while less sightly is probably about as equivalent as it’s going to get

All this to say I reached out to tumblr support and it does seem like the caption feature is pretty much done, and will probably be phased out on older posts soon. That means that the next few days I’ll be going through all my old art posts to save those captions for my own records, but I wanted to post this publicly in case other people were a fan of this feature/wanted to archive their own commentary, and to tell everyone that likes my stuff about all the silly little comments currently on all my old art if you’d like to check them out before they’re removed! 

#Not every image has one but odds are 9/10 of my shitpost images have a double bonus dumb comment attached to ‘em #are the captions important to any gags? no. are they fun and silly? yes. #I will probably transition to putting my silly little comments in the alt text field #which i'm not a fan of since i don't relish confusing screen readers #but I do really like getting to add individual image commentary and would like to continue doing that #humming-rambles #fyi #there is a real chance i am the only user on this site that used this feature tbh hahaha #but i liked it :)
