On Monday
On Monday, I met you
It was the first day of school and the first akuma attack when Jane Seymour, a.k.a. Chat Noire, met Ladyblue.
How they met was by accident when Ladyblue flew into Chat Noire, who was walking along her baton like a tightrope, learning her new abilities. Their time to get acquainted was cut due to having to fight an akumatized classmate, Stoneheart.
But the moment Chat Noire met her partner in crime, she was entranced.
I liked you, I liked you
The girl had bronze skin and short, dark curly hair that parted on her left side with blue highlights hanging over her deep brown eyes.
Her skintight was black with light blue on the front in the style of an opened short sleeve jacket that stopped at the waist and on the legs from the knees down her to her feet, and within the light blue were black spots while white pearls lined along her wrists and waist into a “V” on the front. Her mask was opposite of the suit (light blue with black spots), and on her head was a black headband with silver spikes.
Even though she was in her superhero outfit, Ladyblue was gorgeous. Appearance was one thing, but her personality was another, and it's just as beautiful as her. Her bravery, her cleverness, her strength, her positivity, and her confidence.
It’s Monday – bad day
After defeating Stoneheart for the second and official time, the superheroes checked to make sure that the citizens were alive and well. To their surprise and glee, the akumatized classmate ended up dating their crush.
But good day for us
“They’re made for each other,” Ladyblue awed.
“Like us two,” Chat Noire flirted, offering her new partner a hand.
Good for us
Right then, Chat Noire’s ring beeped as the fourth paw flashes green – signaling one minute left before transforming back into civilian form. At that, Ladyblue grabbed her wrist and pulled it forward, showing the ring.
“Uh-oh, you see that?” Ladyblue asked lightly.
Chat Noire glanced at it then at her, and noticed how close their faces were to each other.
Even though they just met today, Chat Noire briefly wondered how those lips felt against her. It must’ve been subconscious because the next thing Chat Noire knew was her eyes drifted close then getting shoved back.
You wouldn’t let me kiss you
“Time to split,” Ladyblue said, releasing her hand.
Too stunned to move or speak, Chat Noire merely stood and watched as Ladyblue walked away.
“See you soon, Chat Noire,” Ladyblue said with a wave, then swung her yoyo out and launched herself into the air and behind some buildings.
Chat Noire smiled and dazely waved.
And that is why
She’s been in a relationship before and truly thought she was in love with him, but he turned out to be douche. She thought she learned to not fall in love so fast, but fighting alongside Ladyblue, Chat Noire was willing to do anything to get closer to her.
“Can’t wait, milady,” she whispered, then turned and vaulted away.
You were my kind of guy
~~~
Then Tuesday, I called you
Chat Noire was playing with her baton while lying lazily on a roof. After defeating another akumatized civilian, the superheroes agreed on doing patrol around London to further prevent harm and more akumas. Chat Noire wanted to talk to Ladyblue, but she left before Chat Noire could get a word in.
Chat Noire wasn’t sure how she felt about that. Wasn’t Ladyblue curious about her partner too? Or was she just too busy today? Chat Noire knew what it was like to be busy. Her civilian form, Jane Seymour, was a famous singer in England, she was bound to be crowded with meetings and rehearsals and classes.
Still, why did Ladyblue leave in a hurry?
Chat Noire supposed she could learn more about her baton’s gadgets. She had the rest of the day anyway. She was boredly pressing buttons when Contacts popped up on the screen. Seeing the only contact on her baton was Ladyblue’s, Chat Noire perked up.
She immediately pressed “call” under Ladyblue’s profile and waited eagerly. To her disappointment, the call went to voicemail. Chat Noire frowned, but it quickly vanished when an idea hit, and she pressed “call” again.
Several hours later, Chat Noire had left about 15 voicemails for Ladyblue of her rambling about her day. Unlike the others, the last voicemail was sincere as she asked if they could meet and talk. Assuming Ladyblue wouldn’t answer, Chat Noire set down her baton, sighed, and gazed at the starry night.
Ignored me, straight voicemail
A minute later, her baton vibrated with a beep, and Chat Noire glanced to see a notification from Ladyblue. She excitedly opened it to a message.
You texted back saying:
Ladyblue: play hard to get. ready. set . . .
You wouldn’t let me see you
Baffled, Chat Noire reread the text over and over. What was that supposed to mean? Was Ladyblue interested? Did she think she (Chat Noire) was messing around? She knew she was a jokester between the two, but she’s real when it comes to feelings.
Whatever it meant, it was clear that Ladyblue was not going to video call with her - at least for today.
Got so depressed by your test
Chat Noire sighed. That’s fine, she didn’t want to pressure her partner to the point of scaring her. Although she probably annoyed her with all of the voicemails. Chat Noire would gladly wait to see her lady, but that didn’t dismiss the depression that she felt at unanswered calls and the game Ladyblue set up.
Still I thought
Yet, a smile crept on her lips at the excitement of the game with Ladyblue, and she typed her response.
You’re the best
Chat Noire: u’re on >:P
‘Cause I’ve been so juvenile
That to take my time is just not my style
~~~
Come Wednesday, black coffee
After purifying the akuma, the victim offered them free coffee. Chat Noire happily agreed, while Ladyblue hesitated but agreed.
“You like black coffee?” Chat Noire asked her partner.
“Yeah, and you don’t?” she countered, raising a brow.
“Just because I look good in black doesn’t mean I like black coffee. I prefer flavor like myself,” Chat Noire teased proudly.
Ladyblue rolled her eyes, and Chat Noire laughed. Once they got their coffee and gave their thanks, the heroes left to drink in peace. They decided to sit on Big Ben, having a perfect view of their city.
Pure talking, clean touching
For hours, they talked and laughed. At some point, they discussed their double lives as being superheroes. While Jane was thrilled to have more freedom as Chat Noire, Ladyblue appeared anxious and concerned.
“I’m glad doing this to save London, but I can’t help but think I’m not the right one for this job,” Ladyblue confessed, staring down at the busy streets.
Chat Noire frowned and leaned back on her hands, gazing up at the sky.
“I get that. I doubt myself too sometimes. This may be bias but–”
Feeling bold, she placed a hand on Ladyblue’s. Startled, Ladyblue stared at their hands then at her with wide eyes.
“–I think you’re perfect for the job. Sure, we have flaws, but that’s what makes us human. I’ve never seen someone as smart, brave, and strong as you. I know we’ve only met and done this for three days, but it feels like a lifetime, and I can’t picture a better Ladyblue than you,” said Chat Noire sincerely.
Chat Noire wasn’t sure if it was the sun’s lighting, but she could’ve sworn she saw color on Ladyblue’s cheeks.
Oh, Wednesday, hump day
Ladyblue averted her eyes and stammered.
“I– um, thank you, Chat. I couldn’t have a better partner than you,” she said, facing Chat Noire again.
From the soft tone and her genuine eyes, Chat Noire knew she meant it and smiled. Then, to her astonishment, Ladyblue turned her hand over, grasped Chat Noire’s, and squeezed it gently. Chat Noire’s heart skipped a beat, and a silent gasp left her lips.
But we just held hands
“And I can’t picture a better Chat Noire,” Ladyblue whispered, giving her a small smile.
Chat Noire beamed and laughed.
“That’s a relief to know,” she teased.
Ladyblue giggled then gazed forward again.
You wouldn’t let me take you away for the day
As much as Chat Noire wanted to do more than hold hands, she was content with this for the day. Facing out, she too stared out at the city. About an hour later, Chat Noire decided to push her luck for the day.
“Are you up for hanging out more? Maybe go see a movie?” she asked.
Ladyblue chuckled and shook her head.
“Sorry, kitty, but I gotta stay. I have some things I need to finish,” she excused apologetically.
Chat Noire tried her best to hide her disappointment.
And I felt so juvenile
“Oh, that’s okay. I’ll see you tomorrow then. Good luck on your stuff,” she said.
Chat Noire then took Ladyblue’s hand, who was close to resisting until Chat Noire simply kissed her knuckles.
“Goodnight, milady,” she said, shooting her a wink.
Suppressing a smile, Ladyblue shook her head.
“Night, Chat Noire,” Ladyblue said.
Chat Noire smirked then jumped away. As she leaped from building to building, a part of her was feeling impatient with her and Ladyblue’s relationship (friends or more). She was clearly pushing it, but she didn’t know what else to do with these feelings – especially towards a girl.
The logical side of her informed Chat Noire that she’s taking this too fast, but the emotional, useless, romantic side of her wanted her to pursue this. Hell, she only knew her partner for three days, and Chat Noire was willing to do anything for her.
You gave an inch of time, and I took a mile
If Ladyblue wanted to just be friends, she would’ve said, right? Maybe she was interested in Chat Noire, but was too afraid to admit it or didn’t know it yet.
Arriving at her mansion, Chat Noire jumped through her bedroom window and landed quietly on her floor. She de-transformed into her normal clothes then walked over and face planted on her bed with a groan.
“You’re such a useless lesbian,” Plagg said bluntly, floating above her head.
“Shut up, Plagg,” Jane mumbled into her pillow, but Plagg ignored her.
“Psh, why love a complicated human when you have camembert!” Plagg said, throwing a piece of cheese up and into his mouth.
Jane flipped over onto her back and stared at the ceiling.
“She may be complicated, but she’s still amazing. I’m still not sure how we ended up getting these miraculous, but we’re meant to be. I can feel it,” she said thoughtfully.
Plagg rolled his eyes. “Yuck. You being all gushie is making me sick. If you need me, I’ll be in the cabinet with my love,” he said, stroking a piece of cheese then disappearing into a desk under the TV.
Jane grinned and shook her head then stared out her window at the moon as thoughts of Ladyblue swarmed her head.
I was so juvenile
‘Cause to take it slow is just not my style
~~~
Then Thursday, like Tuesday
Fed up with her family, Jane used Chat Noire as an excuse to flee her house. She roamed around London for a bit, helping citizens here and there, then ended up relaxing on top of a building.
Similar to Tuesday, Chat Noire called Ladyblue and left voicemails about her day. She probably shouldn't bother her, but Chat Noire found comfort doing this. She’s not sure why, but being able to talk to someone other than Plagg was relieving.
But unlike Tuesday, Ladybug never responded. This baffled Chat Noire. Was it something she did yesterday? Everything seemed fine . . .
Your “day off” from me
A loud crash came from behind, and Chat Noire turned to see a large robot stomping through the streets. It was about to hit another building until a yoyo stopped it, restraining its arm back. Chat Noire followed the line to see Ladyblue tugging on it.
Maybe that’s why Ladyblue hasn't responded. Whatever the reason was, Chat Noire had to put the issue aside as she sprinted to help her partner.
~~~
But Friday busy
Twice, Chat Noire tried to bring up Wednesday’s night event, but Ladyblue kept dodging it, using an akumatization or needing to hide before transforming as reasons to avoid the topic.
And Saturday too
Another victim saved, and Ladyblue and Chat Noire’s partnership appeared alright, but Jane could see through the mask (figuratively and literally) that Ladyblue was evading more moments with her. Jane’s heart broke the less Ladyblue interacted with her when they’re not fighting alongside each other.
Not wanting to deal with this game anymore, Jane made certain Ladyblue would talk to her the next day.
What’s up with you?
~~~
On Sunday, after a well fought battle with an akuma, Chat Noire caught Ladyblue before she left.
You don’t wanna kiss me
“Ladyblue, wait!”
You don’t wanna see me
Ladyblue froze and stared at her with apprehension.
You don’t wanna take me
“You’ve been avoiding me and I want to know why. I get you don’t wanna kiss me, but why don’t you want to see me? Or even be with me?” Chat Noire asked desperately. “Look, if it’s something I said or did on Wednesday, then I’m sorry. I know it seemed like a game and it’s only been a week now, but I really really like you. But if you don’t feel the same, you can tell me. It’s okay.”
So let me go
Chat Noire lowered her head and closed her eyes, waiting for the heartbreaking words. Instead, a gentle hand rested on her shoulder, prompting her to look up into kind eyes.
But you said:
“There’s things I know . . . you are cute, but juvenile,” Ladyblue said, booping her on the nose.
Then she placed her hand on Chat Noire’s cheek, who happily leaned into the touch.
“Don’t you know the greatest love takes the greatest while? So if you’re willing, take my hand and take the trial for just a mile and then another mile. Be patient for that one day.”
Before Chat Noire could blink, Ladyblue kissed her on the other cheek. When she pulled back, both faces were blushing. Ladyblue chuckled and looked at the sunset.
“Look, kitty, it’s Sunday,” she said, then glanced back at her. “Come with me, and I’ll make it worth your while. Maybe it’s not far away or coming down the aisle, but . . . I do wanna kiss you and try this out if you’re okay with going steady,” Ladyblue asked shyly.
But I wanna kiss you now
Chat Noire beamed. “Can I kiss you now?” she asked eagerly.
Oh . . .
Ladyblue giggled and nodded.
And kiss you
Chat Noire grinned and cupped her cheeks then connected their lips.
And kiss you
Ladyblue tasted like sweetener, and Chat Noire couldn’t get enough.
And kiss you
They broke away for air, but they could barely get some as they laughed at one another.
And kiss you
They then rested their foreheads against each other as they calmed down – goofily smiling.
And kiss you
“Is it too soon that I just want to kiss you?” Ladyblue asked in a hushed tone.
And kiss you
Chat Noire giggled. “We can do it as much as you want, milady,” she whispered.
And kiss you
Ladyblue chuckled then closed her eyes and kissed her again, which Chat Noire gleefully returned.
Till Monday
Thank the Stars
Tonight (April 21) we can see the Lyrid meteor shower in my country. Since I used that event for my contribution to the Kidge zine last year, and since I never posted it, it seemed like a good time to do so, even if I’m not really into Voltron anymore.
Rating: General As he gazes upon the stars, Keith realizes how much of a sap he is. The good thing is, Katie is just as bad as him.
As he was waiting in line to board his bus, Keith realised he had been wrong. So wrong. One would think that students wouldn’t want to get up this early for the 5 a.m bus back home. But here he was, among students still half asleep, nowhere close to boarding anytime soon.
But it was worth it.
The sooner he left, the sooner he’d be back home, back with Katie.
He hadn’t seen his girlfriend since New Year; too busy trying to pass his first midterms to go see her, and her too busy with her last year of high school. And he missed her. Hearing her distorted voice during their daily phone calls wasn’t enough. He needed to see her, run his fingers through her hair, and put his arms around her shoulders to keep her close. She fit perfectly against his side, her warmth all against him the best way to sooth him, and he missed it all.
He was so busy thinking about finally reuniting with his girlfriend that he spaced out, holding out the line when it was his time to board. The guy behind him complained, pulling him out of his thoughts, and he quickly found his place. It was not the most comfortable, but it was cheap, and in a few hours, he would be together with Katie again.
Just as the clock stroke 5a.m. his phone buzzed.
[Katie] Hey hotstuff. Didnt miss ur bus?
[Keith] Hey shortstuff. All ready to get back pain. The things I do for you
[Katie] Aww u sap ♥
Keith was about to answer when the driver announced they were departing, and which stop they’d make. He looked outside, watching the scenery at first, then up to the sky, where the few stars you could see above the city shone brightly.
And Katie was probably right about him because that sight immediately reminded him of the day they got together.
Katie loved space, just like everyone in her family. She was following in her father’s footsteps, aiming to work for NASA. And Keith, while he was interested in space exploration, mostly loved seeing the way her face lighted up when talking about it. So when he had realised the Perseids were around the corner, he had asked her if she wanted to go camping with him, where they could see the stars without light pollution in the way. So, maybe he was indeed a sap.
But honestly, she was just as bad as him.
[Keith] Like you’re one to talk. Remember last summer? The perseids?
[Katie] Yea. We spent hours loading ur car, but it broke
Sure, that wasn’t his proudest moment. He had known for a while that his car was having problems, so it should have been no surprise. But that wasn’t his point.
[Keith] And you found a way to bring the stars to us
As soon as they had realized that they couldn’t go, she had asked him to give her a few hours, and then join her at her place. It was a strange request, but even then, he couldn’t say no to her.
[Katie] And?
[Keith] You’re a sap too
[Keith] You projected the nasa direct just to confess
When he’d gotten to her house, she had led him to the attic, where strangely enough a round camping tent had been installed. She had grabbed the sleeping bags he’d bought over and gone inside, leaving him utterly confused, until he had joined her.
She had set up her laptop and a projector inside. The projector was facing some kind of dome-shaped mirror, and the reflected projection followed the curve of the walls, giving the impression you were surrounded by a screen. Katie had instructed him to get comfortable while she finished setting up everything, so he had sat on his sleeping bag. The sound of cicadas and wind ruffling through leaves slowly filled the place.
And when the night sky replaced whatever was on Katie’s screen, projected all around them, he couldn’t help his awe. It was almost like they were out camping, the only things missing being the smell of grass and the bugs (which was probably a good thing). She had managed to make them travel, without actually going anywhere.
[Katie] And ill never listen to Lances ideas anymore, that was dumb
He knew her enough to know that it was just her embarrassment talking. She had been just as embarrassed that night.
Lance’s idea of the perfect confession was to set the perfect mood. Not that dumb, but when their trip got canceled his alternative was… so Lance-like.
Katie had waited for him to voice his awe to tell him that it wasn’t as magical as she had wanted, though there was something that could make it better.
Keith being her boyfriend.
Even with the dim light of the projector as their only light source he had been able to see her blush. Which got worse when she’d started word vomiting, confessing that she had planned on asking him out during their trip. That when it got canceled, she’d called Lance in a panic, asking him what to do. That he had been the one to suggest that pick-up line. That she’d went with it because every other time she had tried to confess, he either didn’t get it, or she had lost her nerves. That if he wasn’t interested, she hoped they could still be friends.
He had stopped her then, grabbing her hand to stop her rambling, intertwining their fingers to anchor himself.  To this day he could still remember how fast his heart had been beating. But he had been elated, smiling while he reassured her that he was more than interested.
As anxious as the whole confession had made them feel, leaning toward each other had felt right, natural. It was merely a peck, but that soft kiss had melted the tension in the room, and they had laid back together to enjoy the projection.
[Keith] I liked it
The gesture was sweet, and with Keith leaving for college a few weeks later, he barely had time to do something for her in return. They barely had time to see each other period. But maybe that could change… If he remembered correctly, there was another meteor shower happening in April…
It was a good thing he still had data left and it didn’t take long for him to look it up on his phone— the Lyrid meteor shower, scheduled April 22 to 24, right during his break.
Now he just needed to see if Katie was free, so he called her.
It didn’t take her long to answer.
“Hey, I was just replying. You’re okay?”
Her voice was rough, she was probably short on sleep, but it worked for him. She would catch up on what he was planning if she was too awake.
“Everything's fine, just need to ask you something real quick.”
She yawned. “Ask away.”
“Are you doing anything this week?”
She groaned and for a while, the only sounds he could hear were ruffling and cursing. Keith almost felt bad for making her get up.
“No,” she finally answered, “free all week.”
“Good, cause I have a late birthday present so don’t plan anything for Monday to Wednesday.”
“Urg, where’s my pen now…”
More ruffling could be heard, and Keith couldn’t help it, he chuckled.
“Don’t laugh at me Keith Kogane, this is all your fault. You could have waited till we were together.”
“Guess I’m lucky you love me.”
It took her a few seconds to answer, but when she did her voice was soft, and he could picture her blushing.
“Exactly.”
“I’ll let you sleep a bit more. See you when I arrive?”
“See you.”
He hung up with a smile
He’d have a lot of things to plan, but he couldn’t wait to finally take her on that long overdue trip. He’d need to borrow or rent a car, because his old one was still not trustworthy, but this time, it was going to happen.
 The soft music coming from the radio was the only sound in the car as they drove out of the city. Katie had to be honest, she was kind of curious. Keith had kept his plans a secret, and she had refrained from looking into it despite how much she wanted to know. If Keith wanted to surprise her, she wasn’t going to spoil him the pleasure.
If only he wasn’t frowning and looking displeased right now.
He was looking at the road like it had done something to offend him. Which didn’t make sense, because they were alone, and it wasn’t bumpy or anything, so it was all smooth driving.
“Hey,” she tried to grab his attention by putting her hand on his arm, “is something wrong?”
He looked at her from the corner of his eyes and sighed, finally relaxing his shoulder.
“It’s just the weather…”
She looked up and, sure enough, you could barely see the sky behind the clouds. But at least it didn’t look like it would rain, and she pointed it out.
“That’s… still not enough,” he answered, his fingers drumming against the wheel.
There was obviously more on his mind, but Katie knew when to push, and when to give him time. He would talk eventually, and the car fell silent once again.
It didn’t last.
“It’s the Lyrid meteor shower tonight.”
And suddenly, everything made sense.
Their conversation when he was coming back from college, his sudden phone call… It wasn’t just any birthday trip. It was a second attempt at their failed first-date-slash-confession-date. And as much as she wanted to play it cool, the attention made her shy.
Katie Holt, the high school genius who always speaks her mind, rendered speechless by a date plan. It was still a nice feeling, and she couldn’t help but smile as she grabbed Keith’s arm again.
“We still have some time, maybe the sky will clear. And if not, there’s still tomorrow.”
Keith smiled, and he let go of the wheel with his right hand to hold hers.
“I know, I just wanted to do something nice for you.”
“You’ll call me a sap but,” she took a deep breath, and looked straight ahead to try and hide her blush. “A trip just the two of us is already pretty sweet.”
And as they held each other later that night to keep warm, eyes glued to the sky, they both thanked the stars for bringing them together.
It’s All Fun And Games (Until You Get Blackmailed)
Summary: Dan and Phil are in a relationship, but everybody at school thinks they hate each other. In order to have a fun date night, Dan and Phil travel out of town so nobody recognizes them. They think they’re safe, but are they?
Genre: AU
Word Count: 3,385
Trigger Warnings: swearing (from both Dan and Phil)
A/N: Thank you so much @waitforiiiiiiiiiiiit for being kind enough to beta this! :D
“Hi Dan!”
“Hey,” Dan smiles at the group of girls, chuckling to himself when they all squeal with excitement. Honestly, Dan thinks it’s hilarious that he can speak just one single word to the girls around this school, and they all lose their minds. Dan will never date any of them of course, but why not have a little fun?
Dan gasps as soon as he bumps into someone. “Shit-!” He looks up and his eyes widen slightly when he sees that it’s none other than Phil Lester. Dan glares at him. “Watch where you’re fucking going, Lester…”
Phil chuckles. “Easy, tiger. Might want to watch that language of yours,” he says.
“Fuck off,” Dan snaps. “Are you always a dick? I’m just curious.”
“That’s funny, Howell. Are you always a slut?” Phil retorts quickly, surprising Dan by his choice of words. They’ve always bickered with each other during school, but Phil has never gone that far. “I’m just curious. Next time, why don’t you watch where you’re fucking going?” He smirks, and then he turns around and walks away without saying another word to Dan, leaving Dan speechless.
Dan takes a deep breath as he stands there, ignoring the stares that he’s getting from the other students. He quickly continues on his way, heading straight to his locker so he can get to class.
“Howell!”
Dan stops what he’s doing and looks over, seeing one of his soccer teammates run up to him. “Yeah?”
“You coming to the party this weekend?”
“Party?” Dan asks, raising his eyebrows at Alex. “What party?”
“Adam is throwing a party on Saturday, and everybody’s invited. You coming?”
“Dude, the coach is going to fucking kill us if he finds out we were all at a party on Saturday. We’ve got a game after school on Monday,” Dan says, shutting his locker.
“Since when did you start caring about what the coach says?” Alex asks, raising his eyebrows.
“I don’t. I just don’t want to get kicked off the team for doing something stupid,” Dan sighs. “Look, I can’t. But, maybe next time. I’ve got plans this weekend.”
“Whatever, dude, wanna skip class? I could really use a smoke right now.”
Dan bites his lip, debating on whether or not he should skip. “Well, we’re only watching a movie today. So, hell yeah. Let’s skip. Let me put my books away first,” he says, re-opening his locker.
“Wait a minute… you were actually going to go to class?” Alex laughs.
“Shut up,” Dan reaches over and pushes him playfully, and then puts his books back into his locker.
While Dan is hanging outside behind a building with Alex, smoking, he receives a text.
“Someone’s popular,” Alex jokes when Dan’s phone dings.
Dan rolls his eyes and pulls his phone out. He looks down and bites his lip nervously when he sees that he’s got a text from Phil. He’s still upset about Phil calling him a slut earlier.
What most people don’t know is that Dan and Phil are actually dating. They have been for nine months, nobody knows because they decided to keep it a secret to protect their school reputations.
Dan and Phil are the bad boys of the school. In reality, they are quite similar to each other, but people think that they hate each other. They’re constantly trying to one-up each other and trying to impress the other students and even some of the teachers. Whether it be with the clothes they wear, skipping classes, or seeing who can make the other jealous by flirting with other students. That’s how it’s always been between the two of them, and they wanted it to keep it that way. For now, anyways.
Dan opens the text, and sighs when he sees that it’s an apology from Phil.
From Phil: i’m sorry baby, i didn’t mean to call you a slut earlier. i took it too far. i hope you’re not mad at me
From Dan: ur lucky i love u, come over after school?
From Phil: i’ll be there love u
Dan smiles as he reads the texts. He’s glad Phil apologized, otherwise it would have bothered Dan.
“Who the hell are you texting that’s got you giggling like a little girl over there?”
Dan jumps and looks over at Alex, sighing. “Christ, Al. Are you trying to give me a heart attack?”
Alex smirks, proud of himself. “Maybe. Are you going to answer my question or not?”
Dan sighs. “I was not giggling like a little girl. I’m sorry. I didn’t know it was a crime to smile these days,”
“Well, it’s not. But, seeing you be all smiley and shit because of someone texting you is something that you don’t really see very often. So, are you going to spill the beans on who this person is?” Alex asks.
“It was just my mom,” Dan lies quickly. “It’s about something we have planned this weekend. I’m excited.”
“Hm,” Alex says before sticking his cigarette back into his mouth.
Dan sighs and leans back against the building, wishing this school day would just be over now.
After school, Dan says goodbye to his friends before getting into his car and heading home to see Phil.
Phil is already waiting for him on his porch when Dan gets home.
“Hey,” Dan smiles as he walks up onto the porch, and is immediately engulfed into a hug. “Phil!”
“God, I’m so fucking sorry Dan. I know I already sent you a text but I need to apologize again. I shouldn’t have said that earlier and I wish I could take it back. I don’t think you’re a slut,” Phil rambles.
“Phil,” Dan laughs and then he pulls away from the hug. “It’s okay. I’m not mad. I promise I’m not mad.”
“I’m just worried someone heard me say that and they’re going to make it worse,” Phil mumbles.
“Whatever. If it happens, then I’ll deal with it. I’m not worried,” Dan says. He reaches up and kisses Phil. “Come on, let’s go inside.” He grabs Phil’s hand and leads the way inside. “I’m home!” He shouts loudly, before running up the stairs with Phil to his bedroom. He quickly shuts the door, and then he turns around and kisses roughly Phil. “You owe me for what you said earlier.”
“You said you weren’t mad at me,” Phil pouts.
“I’m not mad at you. I promise I’m not. But, you still owe me,” Dan smirks.
“And, what would you like from me?” Phil asks, raising his eyebrows.
“You know exactly what I want-” Dan grabs Phil and leads him over to the bed.
Later on, Dan and Phil decide they want to do something outside of the house instead of the normal ‘making popcorn and try to find a movie on Netflix to watch’ which usually ends with them giving up.
It’s risky, but they decide to go somewhere where hopefully no one from school will recognize them.
Dan and Phil decide on going to an arcade that’s about an hour away from where they live. Unfortunately, they only have a couple of hours to spend with each other due to their curfew set by their parents, so they’re taking advantage of every second they have.
“I hope you’re ready to lose at air hockey,” Phil smirks as he looks at Dan as they walk through arcade.
“Bitch, yeah right-” Dan rolls his eyes. “I kick your ass every time we play air hockey. Today’s no different!”
Phil laughs, knowing how competitive Dan is. Dan hates losing no matter what the competition is; whether it’s playing games at the arcade or simply playing Mario Kart, and does whatever he can to prev Phil from not winning. Phil doesn’t even care if he loses. He just finds Dan’s competitiveness so entertaining.
“Wanna make this more interesting?” Dan asks as he and Phil stand at the air hockey table.
“Go on?” Phil raises his eyebrows as he looks up at Dan curiously.
“Okay, it’s not that interesting. But, how about a challenge? Loser buys dinner,” Dan grins.
Phil laughs. “Okay, you’re so on, buddy,” he says, grabbing a hockey puck and placing it in the middle.
Much to Dan’s surprise, Phil ends up winning air hockey overall.
“What the hell?” Dan throws his arms up angrily after the game is over. “You cheated!”
“Whatever. You’re pissed that I won and now you have to pay for dinner. So, what are you buying me?”
“Ugh, you’re so annoying. I can’t believe I put up with you-” Dan mumbles, shoving Phil away.
“Aw, come on, baby-” Phil quickly pulls Dan back to him and he quickly wraps his arms around Dan, which gives Dan no room to escape. Dan can’t help but allow himself to melt into Phil’s arms. Phil smiles, and leans down to kiss Dan gently a few times.
“You’re lucky I love you so much that I don’t actually mind buying dinner for you.”
“But the fact that you lost?” Phil asks, raising his eyebrows.
“Oh, I’m furious,” Dan laughs, escaping from Phil’s hold. “Come on, we gotta go find somewhere to eat.”
Dan and Phil end up having an amazing date night together, despite Dan losing at air hockey, but Dan honestly just loves being able to spend time with Phil without worrying about one of their classmates seeing them together. It’s rare when they get to act like this in public.
However, the fun doesn’t last very long.
It’s the next morning when Dan wakes up to a horrifying anonymous text, which consists of a picture of him and Phil kissing at the arcade last night. Dan has no idea who took this picture or sent the text.
The picture also comes with a text: I knew there was something going on with you two, and now I have proof. Meet me after school tomorrow and we’ll talk. Say anything to anyone, especially Lester, and I won’t hesitate leaking the picture.
Dan closes his eyes when he finishes reading the text.
“Fuck!” Dan cries before burying his face in his hands, unable to stop the tears from pouring out.
The worst part is, he can’t even tell Phil about this, otherwise the picture will be leaked. Dan doesn’t even know who this person is. It could be anyone. Someone he knows personally, or a stranger. Dan’s terrified.
Dan tries his best acting normal the next day at school, but it’s obvious that he’s distracted and jumpy. Dan’s been avoiding Phil all morning which isn’t that weird to the other students in school considering they all think Dan and Phil hate each other. But Dan can tell that Phil’s getting annoyed with him, as Dan’s not answering any of his text messages, so Phil knows that something is wrong.
From Phil: love u baby, did I do something wrong? pls answer asap i’m worried about u … are u still coming over tonight?
Dan groans and closes his eyes after he reads Phil’s latest text messages, making him feel even more terrible about ignoring him. Dan feels terrible about this whole thing, but he can’t risk talking to Phil because the pictures will be leaked and that’s not how Dan wants his and Phil’s relationship to be known.
“Something got you feeling down, Howell?”
Dan’s head instantly snaps up at the familiar voice. He looks over and his eyes widen when he sees Alex walking into view. He’s been waiting outside of school for about ten minutes for the anonymous texter.
“A-Alex?” Dan asks, taking a deep breath. “Y-You were the one who texted me last night?”
“That’s right,” Alex replies with a smirk, before he walks over to him. “I’m honestly surprised that you didn’t figure it out right away it was me when I told you to come meet me at this exact spot. I mean, we always meet here when we skip. You’re cute, Dan, but you aren’t very bright, are you?”
“Hey, shut up! A lot of people meet here,” Dan quickly defends himself. “Alright, Alex. I haven’t told Phil, in fact, I’ve been completely avoiding him all day, so talk. How did you get that picture of me and Phil?”
“I was visiting a friend last night in that area and we were at the arcade,” Alex tells him.
Dan silently curses. “I thought we were safe,”
“Guess not. I knew you were gay. But, really… Phil Lester?” Alex asks.
“What’s wrong with Phil?” Dan asks, ready to defend his boyfriend.
“Nothing’s wrong with him. I’m just surprised you chose him. You could have anyone you want. Like... me,”
Dan frowns, and looks up at Alex. “What are you trying to say here, Alex?” He asks nervously.
“Dammit, I’m in love with you, Dan!” Alex yells, making Dan jump. “Shit, we’ve been friends for years, and I’ve had a crush on you since we met, but you’ve been completely oblivious this whole time.”
“Alex,” Dan whispers with shock, and then he shakes his head. “You should have said something, Al!”
“Yeah, and what the hell was I supposed to say?” Alex asks. “I didn’t know you were gay back then. I was just figuring out that I was gay and I was worried that I would lose you as a friend.”
“I would have never judged you for being gay. I don’t judge you for being gay now,” Dan says. “So, what? What are we doing here? You’re not going to tell anyone about our relationship, are you?”
“I’m not going to tell anyone,” Alex shakes his head.
Dan sighs in relief. “Thank God. I knew you wouldn’t actually tell anyone,” he smiles.
“Not unless I get what I want,” Alex adds quickly.
Dan blinks a few times. “And, what is it exactly that you want?” He asks.
“You,” Alex says simply. “I thought I made it clear what I wanted?”
“What? No. I’m sorry, Al. But, I’m with Phil. I love him,” Dan says. “I thought I made that clear.”
“I know that, Dan. I’m not a fucking idiot,” Alex snaps before taking a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I-I just… fuck, I’ve always wanted to feel what it’s like to be with the Dan Howell.”
“So, you think blackmailing me is going to achieve that? You’re sick, Al. I thought you were my friend,”
“Well, I want you as more than a friend!” Alex yells, before grabbing Dan and kissing him harshly.
Dan’s eyes widen with shock, and then he quickly pushes Alex away before the kiss goes further. “Enough!” He cries as he takes deep breaths. “I’m really sorry, Alex. I’m sorry that it has to end this way but we can’t be together. The only person I want to be with right now is Phil and nothing will change that, so I don’t care if you post that picture. I really hope you decide to do the right thing because no one should be outed that way. But do what you have to do, I guess. I-I have to go,” Dan shakes his head, and then he runs away from Alex as fast as his feet can possibly take him.
Dan gasps when he bumps into someone.
“Dan?”
Dan looks up and his eyes widen when he sees that it’s Phil who he’s run into.
“Baby, what’s wrong?”
Dan doesn’t realize he’s crying until Phil wipes away his tears.
Dan sobs and falls into Phil’s arms. “I’m sorry, Phil! It’s my fault! I should have been more careful…”
Phil frowns as Dan rambles on, though he still keeps the smaller boy close to his chest. “Dan, what…?” He bites his lip, and then he pulls away from Dan. “Come on, let’s go sit in the car and calm down.”
Phil quickly leads Dan over to his car, and the two get in.
Phil looks over at Dan once they’re both settled into the car. “Dan, talk to me. What happened?”
Dan takes a deep breath before looking up at Phil. “I should have told you as soon as I got the text, but… I was too scared. I couldn’t risk it,” he says.
“What text are you talking about?” Phil asks softly.
“I got an anonymous text last night after I got home. It was a picture of me and you kissing at the arcade. They told me not to tell anyone until we talk because they would leak the picture otherwise, so I met up with the person after school just now,” Dan explains, hoping that Phil won’t be upset.
“Dan,” Phil’s eyes widen after Dan finishes. “Jesus Christ, Dan. I’ve been fucking worrying about you all damn day! I thought I did something wrong, or that you were going to break up with me.”
“No,” Dan shakes his head. “I-I just wanted to talk to this person first.”
“So, who sent you the text?” Phil asks curiously.
“Alex,” Dan mumbles. “Alex sent me the picture. He was going to blackmail me. He’s in love with me, Phil. He wanted me to be with him, not you.”
“That son of bitch!” Phil yells, clenching his fists angrily. “I’ll kill him. Did he do anything to you?”
“Phil, can we talk at home please?” Dan begs. “All I know is that there’s a chance Alex is going to leak that picture and the whole school will find out about us. I’m sorry. It’s my fault.”
“Dan, no-” Phil reaches over and grabs Dan’s hand. “It’s not your fault.”
“Yes, it is!” Dan snaps. “I’m the one who suggested that we go out of town for our date.”
“Dan, listen to me. We both thought it was safe. There’s absolutely no way that you or I could have known that Alex was going to be there on the same day as us. It is not your fault,” Phil warns softly.
Dan closes his eyes. “I just didn’t want our relationship to come out like this,” he whispers.
“I know, and I wish there was something I could do to change it,” Phil whispers before pulling Dan into a comforting hug. “We just have to wait and see what happens. That’s all I can say.”
Dan pulls away from the hug. “It’s all fun and games until your best friend decides to blackmail you,” he mumbles, shaking his head.
So when Dan walks into school on Friday morning, he expects to be hit with stares and whispers from the other students. But, he’s shocked when he walks in without a single look from anybody.
This is not what he expected. Did Alex not leak the picture of him and Phil together?
Maybe Alex actually did have a change of heart.
Dan nervously walks to his locker by himself. He and Phil decide not to walk into school together tomorrow in case a miracle happened. If Alex doesn’t end up posting the picture, then they still want to come out on their own terms. And, right now… they just aren’t ready to come out yet as a couple.
Dan opens his locker, his hands shaking slightly. He looks around. Still nothing.
Then, he surprisingly spots Alex down at the end of the hallway. Dan stares at him with wide eyes, and he can actually see the guilty look on Alex’s face. Alex gives him a small smile before turning around and walking away. This surprises Dan. Alex had been acting totally different yesterday, after admitting that he’d been in love with Dan this whole time. But now, it seems that he has had a change of heart.
Dan’s unsure of what this means for his and Alex’s friendship, but right now, he’s just happy and relieved that his and Phil’s relationship still remains a secret, and hopefully they’ll be able to come out soon.
Dan quickly pulls out his phone and then sends a text to Phil.
From Dan: I just saw Alex. I don’t think he posted the picture. I think we’re in the clear.
From Phil: that’s such a relief. keep me updated. love u have a good day baby
Dan can’t help but smile at Phil’s second message. He turns around and leans against his locker, and can’t help but sigh in relief. Maybe things will be okay after all.
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1844
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Summary: You just graduated high school and were ready to embark on your last summer of being a dumb teen and going on adventures before having to face the realities of the adult world. One day you were driving to a lake to meet some of your friends when your car broke down in the middle of nowhere. With no service and no gas stations around you wandered a little down the street and found one house where you went to ask for help. You expected to find an old couple living in the middle of nowhere, but a nice young British guy (Tom) answered the door. Due to unforeseen circumstances you spend the rest of the afternoon and most of the night together, but when it’s time to leave he says he wants to see you again. You exchange numbers with the cute British guy and embark on a long, secretive summer fling. You both lie about what you do for a living and what you were both doing in the middle of nowhere, but the moments you too bonded were all genuine. Will he find out about your plans after summer? Will you find out what he actually does for a living? Will this fling extend past summer?
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 4 Chapter 5
Chapter 3
You and Tom had somehow shifted closer to each other as the night wore on. You were now both seated on the floor with your backs against the couch and only mere inches away from each other. You were both wrapped up in your own blankets, mainly because you’d both just spent an hour trying to figure out how to turn off the AC and failed miserably. It was 2 am now but neither of you were tired, and neither of you wanted to be the baby and tap out to go to sleep first. You had both just been sitting there since after dinner talking about everything from your favorite memories ever to dumb things like whether or not you believed in aliens and ghosts.
“No yeah living with 3 brothers is both the worst and the best, but I wouldn’t trade them for the world. I’m the oldest of us so I think I got the best deck of cards handed to me,” he said running his fingers through his curls.
“That’s adorable! It’s just been me and my mom for as long as I can remember so I’d always wished I would’ve had siblings or even cousins,” you tried to laugh off the last part of the sentence while silently cursing yourself for oversharing.
“You don’t have much family then?”
“Not really. My mom got pregnant at 16 so I never met my dad. It used to be my grandmother, my mom, and I but my grandma passed away when I was like 6 so it’s just been me and my mom since then. Well also my moms best friend and her kids. She’s our neighbor so she’s like my non blood related family. Every time my mom has to leave for work I usually stayed with her so she’s like a second mom to me.”
“What does your mother do?”
“She’s a photographer. Nature, portraits, fashion shows and magazine covers; you name it, my mom’s done it. After my grandma passed she really threw herself into her work, which was all amazing but usually meant she’d spend less time at home. The money was great, and my mom gets invited to all kinds of cool stuff but sometimes I just wanted my mom at home you know? Oh my god why am I telling you all of this? I’m sorry for rambling.”
Your cheeks turned a bright red and you diverted your eyes to the floor avoiding eye contact with Tom. To your surprise he actually extended his arm and gave your arm a sympathetic rub.
“No you’re fine, I can’t imagine where’d I be without my family so I’m sorry you had to deal with all that stuff alone.”
You tried to piece words together but the moment he touched your arm, even though it was over the blanket, it sent your heart doing backflips as you started to hear your heartbeat in your ears. You were staring into her beautiful eyes for a second too long when suddenly the phone in the laundry room started to ring. The both of you jumped.
“I should probably get that,” you said getting up and running toward the phone.
“Sounds good!” he yelled from the living room.
You tried catching your breath before answering the phone.
“Hello?”
“Tom?”
“Uhh no, hold on a sec.”
“Wait if this isn’t Tom who is this?”
The voice on the phone had the same deep British accent as Tom so you assumed it was a family friend. You set the phone down on the washer next to the phone and ran into the living room. “The call’s actually for you,” you said grabbing your blanket and dropping yourself on the couch.
“That’s weird I didn’t know anyone had that phone number,” he said slowly walking over to the laundry room.
“British accent.”
“What?”
“Whoever’s on the phone also has a British accent.”
“Ah.”
He seemed to know exactly who it was but you decided not to inquire. He left the room swiftly. Your phone started buzzing wildly on the coffee table. It was a FaceTime from your best friend, but you didn’t feel like answering it considering you’d been messaging her since 6 pm and she didn’t bother to check up on you once. You were originally planning on asking her to pick you up on her way home but you were so overcome with anger that you suddenly decided you’d take a taxi home if you had to. Anything to not have to see any of your friends for a while, you could even try to give them the silent treatment.
She sent you a message. “hope ur doing something non y/n-ish and having fun. guy must be bored out of his mind. see u tmrw, get home ok.”
You rolled your eyes and put your phone face down on the coffee table. Your friend always teased you about being the safe one in the group. Even though your mom wasn’t usually home much, you didn’t do anything behind her back and you followed most of her rules. There were even times when your mom would encourage you to sneak out to see a boy or go to a party but you never really cared for being a rule breaker and your friends never ceased to remind you how lame that was.
Tom walked back into the living room and smiled at you as he walked over to the couch.
“That was my mate Harrison, he went to visit some family in town and somehow got tricked into having a sleepover with his nieces so he won’t be coming back tonight.”
“Oh I thought you were here alone?”
He froze and started running his hands through his curls.
“Oh yeah Harrison is my best mate and kind of like my assistant, you know for the book writing and stuff so uh he takes every vacation with me he can with the excuse of it being a business trip.”
“Sounds like a fun guy. He sounded so confused when I answered the phone, sorry about that.”
“No worries. He was a bit confused so I basically had to give him the long story short of cute girl with a broken down car in the middle of nowhere seeks help.”
“Why thank you.”
“Uhh no what I meant to say is- “
“Are you really going to take back a compliment now Tom?”
His cheeks turned a light pink as he gave you a goofy grin.
“You got me there.”
The phone rang again.
“That might actually be the tow truck this time.”
You power walked over to the phone and answered it.
“Hello ma’am our tow truck is about 5 to 10 minutes out from getting to you. We will call you as soon as we get word that he’s on his way back, and unfortunately you will have to come till tomorrow morning to get your quote.”
“That’s fine, thank you.”
You walked back into the living room and grabbed your jacket.
“The tow truck will be here in 5 to 10 minutes so I’ll probably wait for it on your front porch. I can’t get a quote till the morning so I’ll probably order a taxi as soon as they leave with my car.”
“Let me just grab a hoodie and I’ll wait out there with you. Also youcanstayhereifyouwantto.”
He said the last part so fast as he tried to dart up the stairs.
“What?” you called from the bottom of the stairs.
He stopped on the second to last step and turned to face you.
“Yeah not to be to forward or anything but I’ve got plenty of rooms and I would hate to put you in a taxi from the middle of nowhere at almost 3 am. I have rooms that lock from the inside if that makes you feel any safer.”
You thought about the text from your best friend and all the times your friends made fun of you for being so “lame” and decided to take a risk.
“You know what I’d love that. Thank you.”
He smiled and shot you a thumbs up before descending into his room. He ran back down and accompanied you outside. It was completely dark outside, the street was just illuminated by the moon and the stars. You could see the tow truck approaching from some ways down the road.
“I have a duffel bag with clothes in my back seat so I’ll probably get that and bring it in.”
He nodded and followed closely behind you. You waited for a bit as the tow truck approached. The guy seemed nice but tired, considering as he made almost no small talk except to ask you to sign certain papers.
“I’ll see you in the morning ma’am,” he said climbing into his tow truck.
You and Tom quietly walked back to his house.
“Do you want me to show you the rooms?” he asked as soon as he locked all the doors behind him.
“Do you have a pool?”
“Yeah why?”
“Is it heated?”
“I believe so.”
“Are you up for a night swim? The sky is too beautiful to pass up a night swim with a new friend in summer, Tom Holland.”
He looked at you confused but intrigued.
“I really like where your head is at Y/N. I think this can be the start of a beautiful relationship-UHH I MEAN FRIENDSHIP.”
You laughed as his cheeks went a deep red this time, traveling all the way up to his ears.
“I’m going to go get changed and get some towels, the bathroom is right through there if you want to change in there,” he said as he started climbing up the stairs.
“Okay I’ll be waiting out there.”
You went into the bathroom and exhaled. This was something you’d never in a million years thought you’d be doing, but you were glad that you were. A cute British guy with a heated pool in the middle of nowhere? Even you weren’t dumb enough to pass up on that opportunity. You quickly changed into the bikini you packed in your duffel bag. You would usually beat yourself up for having the duffel bag in the first place considering you had it in there since the day your mom told you the chances of you needing an overnight bag in case of emergencies and you completely missed the joke about needing it for when you stay over at a guys house, but you were just happy you had an extra pair of everything right now.
You walked out of the bathroom at the same time Tom was walking down the stairs in nothing but swimming trunks. You could see his toned abs and arms and everything. It made your heart race. He walked up to you with a goofy grin and handed you a towel.
“You ready?”
“Of course,” you smiled at him and followed closely behind him admiring his back muscles.
Boy was this the best idea you’ve had for a while.
Coffee shop AU- Percabeth
I based this off of an AU prompt I saw a LONG time ago. I honestly forgot I had written this it had been about two years but I decided to finish it :) I have no doubt that there are probably lots of mistakes and the format probably got a leetle messed up while I tried to figure out how to blog THis but please enjoy :) also prompt creds to whoever made the prompt along the lines of “my computer battery is low and I need to finish my assignment and ur the only seat near an outlet can I plz sit w u?” OK I’m done rambling now
••••••••••••••••
Annabeth had been staring at the boy for seven minutes, and her computer was now at nine percent. It’s not that big of a deal, she thought for the fifth time. Just go up and ask if you can use the outlet. It was just her luck that the hot guy with messy black hair and one hell of a jaw line was sitting at the table blocking the last unoccupied outlet, and Annabeth’s computer was dying and her essay was due tomorrow. It shouldn’t be this hard, and it’s not like she would usually have this much trouble, but the guy was really cute and he was probably playing candy crush on his phone and what if she interrupts him before his high score is achieved? She would steal his outlet and his high score. Not that she knew for a fact that he was playing candy crush. Maybe he was writing a really important email to his teacher or texting his girlfriend. Annabeth cringed. Girlfriend. He probably did have a girlfriend. A whole bunch of girls probably swooned all over him at school. She knew guys like him, from what she was observing. He was probably an athlete. No, definitely an athlete, judging by his broad shoulders and muscular arms. She shouldn’t even bother approaching him, then, if he was anything like she assumed he was. She could imagine his pink lips curving into a frown as he ignored her and went back to tapping on his phone. Annabeth shook the possibility out of her head. She was over thinking this whole thing. Her computer was at seven percent now, and she still had two more paragraphs to proof read for the third time, even though her work was already typed and edited. She wouldn’t let her essay be less than perfect all because of cute guy blocking the outlet. Annabeth made up her mind and shot out of her chair, scooping up her laptop, computer charger, and coffee before marching over to the boy’s table. She plopped her things down across from him, and jammed her plug into the outlet, finally calm now that her essay was safe. The boy looked up with a small smile, and Annabeth was slightly taken aback. “Well hello there.” The way he said it wasn’t flirtatious at all. He seemed amused, as if he had watched her fight herself before stomping her way over. Annabeth winced when she realized that he probably had noticed her glaring at the outlet from her own table. It took Annabeth a moment to recover after she locked eyes with him. She had never seen such bright green eyes before. She replied with a nod and a smile that probably looked more like a grimace, because that was all she could manage. Annabeth stared at her computer blankly for a moment, before looking back up at him. “My computer was dying. You were the only table with a power outlet next to you,” she said, feeling stupid after her awkward explanation. The boy raised an eyebrow. “I don’t mind.” He chuckled, and held out his hand. “I’m Percy,” he told her. Annabeth tilted her head when she heard the name, deciding she liked it. “Annabeth.” She shot him one last half-smile, unsure if she should continue the conversation. If she wanted to finish her essay, she needed to get to work. Forcing herself to tear her eyes away from his mesmerizing green ones, her own eyes began scanning the screen, searching for mistakes and quickly running her fingers over the keyboard letters to fix any. “What’re you working on?” Annabeth nearly fell out of her chair when she felt Percy’s breath tickle her neck. Her head whipped around to find him crouching next to her, looking over her shoulder at her essay. He was so close to her that his head was almost resting on her shoulder, and she caught a whiff of his scent. He smelled like chlorine and spearmint gum. She swallowed. “Um, essay. For school.” She inwardly rolled her eyes at her lame answer. She expected Percy to be satisfied with her answer and sit down again. What did her essay matter to him? Instead he leaned in closer, and Annabeth held her breath. No stranger this hot had ever been this close to her before. “What’s it about?” Percy asked. “Why do you need to know?” She shot back instinctively. She didn’t mean for the response to sound so rude, she was honestly just curious. Percy didn’t seem bothered by it, though. He just shrugged. “Wondering if it’s anything worth reading.” He smiled. Annabeth frowned. “No,” she blurted. Percy’s smile shrunk slightly, and he raised an eyebrow and held his hands up in surrender. She shook her head and started over. “No, I mean, it’s not.” she swallowed, “worth reading, I mean. You wouldn’t want to read this.” She laughed humorlessly, gripping her cup of coffee in her hand tightly. “It isn’t anything good. Just school work.” Percy frowned, and suddenly gripped his chair and dragged it around so that he was seated next to Annabeth. She sucked in a breath of air, her shoulders tensing. What was with this guy?                                                                     “Nah, I don’t believe that.” He pulled her computer closer to him, and Annabeth restrained herself from stopping him, and instead wrapped her other hand around her silver A necklace that her mother had given her when she was in sixth grade. She stared down at her now cold coffee, anxiously waiting as Percy’s eyes scanned her paper. Honestly, under normal circumstances she hated people reading her work, but something about Percy made her curious to hear his opinion. She hated that.                                                                         Percy hummed as he read something, and Annabeth’s head snapped up.
“What?” she asked, overeager to hear his thoughts. He tilted his head and looked at her. “You didn’t write about your mom?” Annabeth’s heart stuttered for a moment. “Excuse me?” she breathed. Why would he ask about her mom? Percy was frowning. “No, it’s just,” he shook his head and squinted like he was doing a hard math problem. “The prompt was asking you to write about someone that inspires you, and you wrote about,” Percy raised his eyebrows. “Your teacher?” His tone wasn’t judgmental, but one of disbelief. He glanced at her, hiding a smile. “Kiss ass, much?” Annabeth narrowed her eyes. “First of all, I’ll have you know that my teacher is amazing, okay? He’s taught me a lot.” Percy smirked. “He taught you a lot academically, or,” he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. “In other ways?” It took Annabeth a moment to decipher his sentence, but when she did, she instinctively shoved the boy away from her, astounded. He let out a loud laugh as Annabeth made a noise of disgust. “So now I know you have the immature mind of an middle school student,” she huffed. Percy was still laughing, and Annabeth glared. “That was gross and uncalled for,” she scolded him. “And not even funny. Get some better material,” Annabeth added. Percy held his hands above his head in surrender, but his playful smirk never vanished. “Okay, okay. I’m sorry. Bad joke--my nerves got the best of me.” He turned his attention back to Annabeth’s computer, while she made the effort to brush off the last part of his sentence. “Tell me more about your teacher,” He said, and Annabeth shot him an incredulous look, raising her eyebrows in an accusatory fashion. Percy raised his hands even higher. “I promise my middle school mind won’t make anymore inappropriate jokes,” he told her seriously. Annabeth eyed Percy for a moment, waiting for him to break. He held her eye contact, though, and seemed genuinely interested. So she launched into her history about Mr. Brunner. He was practically the father she never had. Well, she had a father. Just not a particularly good one. She explained how his lessons were more than just lectures; they were meaningful talks about life and the world around them. Mr. Brunner was just about the most inspiring person she knew, and that was more than what she could say about her own family. Annabeth paused her speech and took a sip of her cold coffee, which was more of an excuse to stop rambling rather than her actually enjoying its taste. Percy seemed to be letting her words sink in, and Annabeth laughed at the expression on his face. “Still trying to figure out how someone could actually admire a teacher?” she teased. Percy shook his head. “No, not at all. And I get that. I mean he sounds super cool and all. I was just surprised. Like, for me, my mom is the most inspiring person I know.” Annabeth felt her chest tighten, and a pang of a nameless emotion jabbed at her. Immediately she felt guilty for her reaction. So what, Percy had a mom he loved and admired? Why should she feel bitter towards him for that? He was a total stranger, but Annabeth already longed to have something he had. Percy seemed to have picked up on her expression, because his face displayed the same guilt Annabeth felt. He placed her laptop back in front of her. “But that’s just me. Family means something different to everyone.” Annabeth wanted to laugh at his use of the word ‘family’. Family could never fit her idea of the people she lived with. She exhaled, wanting to release every emotion Percy had dug up inside of her. Shaking her head, she said, “I’m basically done writing it anyway. Just editing.” For the third time. She stared at her computer screen with a new hatred, the formerly passionate essay now tainted with reminders of people she resented. People she would never write a praising sentence about even if her college acceptance letters depended on. Percy jumped to change the subject. “So why are you here on a Tuesday? Saturday’s are usually when you’re here?” She stared at him for a moment, registering his comment. Percy seems to be doing the same thing, because his tan complexion turns slightly pinker, and he starts to fidget with his hands. “Not that—I don’t like…know your schedule, I’m not a stalker I swear to god, I just mean this one Saturday—well, actually more than once, like it’s actually been three Saturdays that you’ve been here. Not like consecutively, actually the first time I saw you here was five weekends ago. Not that I count. I mean I do? But I’m not creepy, really, I just got really bored, so I like made up this kind of game where I was like, hey, let’s see how many times that cute blonde comes here to do homework. I mean not that you’re cute—wait no, you’re really cute. God. I just mean—“ “Percy.” “Uh, yeah?” She tried to hide the smile playing on her lips. “Do you want to meet here for coffee next Saturday?” Percy’s mouth fell slightly open. “Um, okay. I mean, totally,” He cleared his throat. “Uh, yes. Yeah. Coffee,” he swallowed. “would be good.” Annabeth closed her laptop and began collecting her things, looking down at her busywork to hide her blushing face. Unable to help it, she let out a little laugh when she thought about Percy’s adorable ramble. She stood, clutching her items close to her, glancing up at an already-up-right Percy and meeting his eyes. “So Saturday?” she confirmed. Percy let out a short, low laugh, partially aimed at himself. “Saturday.” He beamed at her, shoving his hands in his pockets and swaying back and forth on his heels. He had recovered from his flustered rant, and was back to his charming ways. Annabeth nodded, and turned to exit the shop before she exploded with giddiness. Percy called out to her, and she turned around to meet his sparking eyes. “I expect that essay to get an A. Anything lower, and I might be too embarrassed to be seen on a date with you.” Annabeth ignored the way her stomach swirled at his use of the word ‘date’. She laughed, giving him a shrug that said, “we’ll see”, and fell back on the door as it glided open for her. She turned and felt pep in her step as she walked home. She was feeling better about this essay.
I lov ur writin!!! c: could u write a lil ole gay smthn about sportacus nd robbie havin a chill time at robert lair? :0 if not I understand !! c: (gayzytown !! c: )
(Heyo friendo, I LOVE your url and I relate to it on a deep, deep level. Here, have a fic about these two idiots on their three-month anniversary)
“Robbie! Robbie!”
A deafening creak filled up the complete silence of his lair, causing Robbie to jolt and drop the screwdriver that he was using. His eyes immediately shot up towards the ceiling, and indeed, Sportacus had opened the squeaky hatch into his lair, looking just as hyperactive and happy-go-lucky as always, but he seemed to be holding something. A brown bag. Quickly, Robbie scrambled to tidy up his work table, eyes desperately scanning the room at lightning speed for something that he could use to hide what he’s been doing. There was his cow blankie. It wasn’t ideal, but he’ll take it. Without delay, he snatched it off of his orange chair and covered up what he didn’t want Sportacus to see, sighing to himself when the sports elf jumped down to greet him. he was so, SO close to catching what he’d been doing. “Robbie!” Sportacus looked like something of a little kid, head tilted up to look at the taller man with a toothy grin, eyes sparkling like a Caribbean seaside blinking up at him. He batted his long, blonde eyelashes as he shuffled from foot-to-foot, being so bouncy, behaving so YOUTHFULLY, nothing like how a man their age should act. He had something that he wanted to say- or SHOW to him, he assumed due to the brown paper bag that he was holding in his hands.
Robbie put up his usual front, sighing somewhat exasperatedly at the elf and putting on an air of ill-temper, although he would like always, humor the man that he had admittedly grown so fond of and give him the time of day nonetheless. “You must have a reason why you jumped down here and interrupted my work. Go ahead, spit it out. What is it?” he asked.
“Robbie! Today the kids and I went to the mall together!”
“Okay, that’s nice,” Robbie said ungenuinely. “And so?”
“There was this store there Robbie,” Sportacus continued excitedly. “And it smelled very nice, Robbie! Like flowers and sportscandy!”
“Yes, we ALL know how much you love flowers and sportscandy,” Robbie said, rolling his eyes. He may be acting like the other was wasting his time but on the contrary- he LIKED when the other shared things about his day like this that made him happy, and he was actually hoping that the elf would drop by today. -However, he was hoping that he wouldn’t visit until later in the evening… “What was it, a candle shop?” “No no.” Sportacus shook his head. “It was a different store! And it smelled SO good, and Robbie- Robbie, they had these THINGS there- and- and they made pretty colors and they went pssssshhhhhh-” Sportacus began to make this weird fizzing noise, gesturing wildly as he tried to explain to Robbie what was getting him so worked up. “And I BOUGHT YOU ONE, Robbie!”
“You bought me what?” Robbie asked, raising a brow just as Sportacus thrusted the brown paper bag at his chest, expecting him to take it. Instead, he just stared at the bag, a little lost. “Sportakook, you’re not exactly the best at explaining things. What’s in here?” “I don’t remember what the kids called it, but I think you’ll like it!” Sportacus insisted, grinning at him. “I saw a purple one and then I smelled it and it made me think of you right away so then I HAD to get it for you because if it made me think of you, then that means I have to show you-” he rambled on, but suddenly became a bit bashful, his cheeks slowly transforming into a warm, rosy color. “…I wanted to get you something pretty,” he smiled meekly up at him, rubbing the back of his neck. “…Because tomorrow is our three-month anniversary. I was going to give it to you TOMORROW, …but I got a bit too excited-”
Ah, yes. Their three-month anniversary. Robbie didn’t forget, he was well aware that tomorrow marked three months since the beginning of his *ahem* “romantic involvement” with the sappy blue kangaroo. He didn’t forget to do something for him either- but he WAS hoping that Sportadoof would’ve given him some more time to finish up his gift before visiting. Ah well, that’s nothing that staying up late couldn’t fix; the elf’s early bedtime made it easy for him.
“You can open your present now, Robbie. -I mean, …unless you want to wait until tomorrow-”
“…I’ll open it now,” Robbie decided, sticking his hand into the bag and beginning to pull out a bunch of tissue paper, dropping it on the floor carelessly. “Since you’ve got me all curious now with your whacky explanation of whatever this thing is-”
After having cleared away the layer of tissue paper hiding the gift, he reached down blindly in the bottom of the bag and grabbed something that felt a bit hard and surprisingly powdery. It was round, and baseball-sized, and Robbie wasn’t any less puzzled when he pulled it out of the bag. Puzzled, however quickly captivated by what he was holding. It was sparkly, a beautiful lavender color with swirls in a darker purple, that made this weird ball he was holding look almost like a galaxy, or a little purple planet. It matched his aesthetic to a tee. Remembering what Sportacus said about everything in the store smelling nice, he brought it up to his nose and sniffed it, and was unable to help but sigh contently at its sweet, sugary scent.
“So?” Sportacus once again, was bouncing from foot-to-foot, his trademark habit when he anticipated something and was hardly able to contain his happiness and excitement. “What do you think?” “It..” Robbie focused on it. It was so…brightly colored, and sugary-looking. He felt this compulsive desire to put it in his mouth. “…It smells like cotton candy-” He brought it up to his mouth, about to take a bite. “NO!” Sportacus practically screamed out the word, grabbing both of his wrists to stop him. “It’s not food!” he cried out, looking at his villainous boyfriend as if he had almost poisoned himself.
“It’s not?” Now Robbie was EVEN MORE lost. “Then…what is it?”
“Ah,” Sportacus chuckled, his bright smile coming right back. “Let me show you, Robbie! You’ll LOVE this!”
Before he could say anything, Robbie found himself getting dragged by Sportacus into the BATHROOM, of all places. He let go of Robbie and turned on the warm water in the bath, beginning to fill the tub up.
“Umm…why are you filling up the bathtub?”
“You’ll see,” Sportacus answered, waiting for a moment until the tub was about two thirds of the way full and then turning off the bath. “There we go!” He said cheerfully, stepping aside. “Alright Robbie, now, I want you to drop your present into the tub.”
“Uh…okay-” Robbie gave him a strange look for a moment, but he followed the elf’s instructions, and dropped the purple ball into the tub, immediately stepping back from the tub and shutting his eyes when he heard it plop into the water, not quite sure what to expect. When he heard fizzling, he opened his eyes and gasped. The beautiful purple ball was disintegrating and turning into EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL, sparkly purple bath water. A sweet, faint smell of cotton candy and flowers filled the air, and without even having to hop into the bath, it already made Robbie feel relaxed. But that wasn’t even all- there were apparently FLOWERS inside of it, because soft-looking orchid petals were floating atop the water among swirls of sparkling foam. “Wow…” he whispered.
“Do you like it, Robbie?”
“Yes. I like it,” he said back, unable to tear his eyes off the water, entranced, and contemplating something. After a while, he nodded to himself, and unbuttoned his vest, letting it drop to the floor. He then pulled off his shirt, and began to undo his belt buckle. “…Are you you going to take a bath now, Robbie?” He found that Sportacus wasn’t looking at him anymore. Instead, he kept his eyes to the floor, face red. “…I’ll give you your privacy-” he turned to the door. “Wait-” He stopped him, hand clasped over the other’s shoulder. He bit his lip. …It was now while he had the sudden courage to do so, or never. “…Take a bath with me.”
The elf stopped dead in his tracks. “…Are you sure?”
Was he sure? “Well-” He felt his face heat up. “…Don’t you think that it would feel nice, having someone wash behind your ears for you?”
“…Y-yes,” the elf answered without a moment’s hesitation, only blushing darker when realizing so. “Yes.”
“…Well then,” Robbie pulled off his pants and his underwear in a single tug, stepping into the bath water. “…Get in, Sportablush-” …He may not be able to get the custom-made in-line skates that he was going to give Sportacus completed in time for their three-month anniversary, but he’s sure that seeing each other naked for the first time would make up for it as a gift.
…He’s pretty sure.
(Wow, this ended up being long! I might post it on AO3)
