The two pairs of boots crunched against the stone pavements leading towards Liyue Harbor’s gates. Coviello reached into their pocket, habitually checking to see if they had their Delusion - yet their fingers brushed against two folded sheets of paper. One, they recognized, but the other....

“You seem to be awfully worried about him,” Sally spoke quietly, moving to lay her head in his lap. Gently, Eddie moved to stroke her rays, rubbing the tips of his fingers on the pointed edges in order to ground himself and his thoughts.

“I wouldn’t be a good neighbor if I didn’t,” he responded quietly. “I care about him just as much as I care about you, or Wally or Howdy.”

Sally nodded, willing to accept that response. “He’s thirty minutes late, you know.”

“I know.”

“And Frank is absolutely never late.”

“I…I know,” he looked down to the side, moving to fidget with his tie. Even if Frank was unhappy with him, it was never like him to be so…absent. It scared him.

“Perhaps I should give him a call!” Sally chimed, hopping up and running to the phone she had plugged in at the corner of the stage. With a few twists of the dial, she had herself a tone. It rang, and rang…and rang…but there was no response.

With sad eyes Sally turned to look at Eddie, who seemed as if he were about to burst into tears.

“I’m sorry, Dearie,” she spoke softly, moving to sit down and hug him, “But it doesn’t seem like he’s available right now.”

After a moment of silence Eddie shook his head, a frown forming on his face. He pushed away from Sally as he spoke, moving to stand and slipping his coat and messenger bag back on.

“No,” he spat sternly. “I *know* Frank, Sally.”

“Eddie—“

“Somethin’s wrong. I know somethin’s wrong. Frank would never ignore a phone call.”

“Maybe he’s not home, or…or…” she tried to reason, letting out a sigh of defeat as she realized there was no changing his mind.

“Excuse me, Sally,” he turned away, hopping off stage, “But I need to check on him.”

“…Good luck, Dearest.”

Love Language (Words of Affirmation) - Nanami x Reader

Nanami is an eloquent man. Whether he’s describing his goals, his personal philosophies, or even just talking about how his day went, he always manages to perfectly translate his thoughts into words. His language isn’t overly flowery or ornate, either; it’s just succinct. Succinct and powerful. 

You think the reason why his words carry so much weight is that he is a deeply thoughtful and reserved person - when he says something, you know that he has put a great deal of consideration into it. He’s careful with how he carries himself in the world, and that approach extends into his use of words; he never says anything that he doesn’t mean. This makes it all the more powerful when you hear him say exactly how he feels. “I’m so lucky to have met you,” he told you out of the blue one evening, as the two of you were making your way back home from dinner. “So much so that I can’t look at you without thinking it.”

He tells you that he loves you quite often: in the notes that he leaves when he needs to head to work early, in soft whispers in your ear when you’re wrapped in his arms, and it’s the last thing he says to you before the two of you fall asleep at night.

Even when he doesn’t say the words “I love you” outright, he manages to express it in implicit ways, as well. You know that he loves you when he asks if you’re getting enough sleep, when he offers his praise on a project that you’re particularly proud of. You can see how much he cares for you every time he speaks genuinely and openly, and when tells you things that he’s never told anyone else.

As well as this, he understandably adores hearing you say that you love him, too. You can tell just how much he appreciates it from the look in his eyes and the way his lips quirk softly upwards every time those words leave your mouth. 

But even more than that, he never tires of hearing you say why you love him - not because of his ego, of course. He’s not looking for flattery, or for one-dimensional compliments on superficial things (though you have a few of those in mind, too).

He just needs to hear the reasons why you love him because he’s such a practical and grounded man, and listening to you describe the things that you love about him makes it feel more real ... like he can finally start to make sense of how he managed to get so inconceivably lucky. 

Ironically, some of the things you love about him are actually sources of self-doubt in his life - this is why it is so important for him to hear it out loud, because unbeknownst to him, his insecurities are often his greatest strengths.

For example, he often worries that he’s not setting a good enough example for the students that he mentors, but you disagree. As often as possible, you tell him that you truly appreciate his dedication to shaping the lives of those at Jujutsu High for the better. His determination to leave this world a little safer for future generations constantly impresses you, and it's important to you that he realise that.

Not only that, but you love how truly content he is with the little things in life. Sure, he often observes that the accumulation of little despairs is what makes someone an adult, but there’s a counterpart to that theory: he also believes that the little joys of day-to-day life are what make it worth living. He has his favourite bread, his favourite colours and types of music, his favourite ways to spend his days off - all of which combine together to make him your Nanami, and not the stoic, stern sorcerer that the world often sees when they look at him. 

He is often concerned that he doesn’t do enough for you, and that because of the demands of his job, he doesn’t give you the attention you deserve … but you know different. Life with Nanami is the very definition of quality over quantity, and you know that you’d happily choose a quick day-trip to the beach with him instead of a luxury holiday with anyone else. The fact that he conveys worry over such things shows you that he cares deeply. You think that it is an honour and a pleasure to get to spend the rest of your lives together, showing him exactly how valued and loved he is. 

He loves you and you love him, and that is more than enough.

Welp, life just decided to piss in my cheerios even more. As if my Uncle dying this week wasn't enough not only did a major client of mine have to halt our project together (Not their fault at all. It's just life, it happens.) but now my cat has to have a $5,000 PUSurgery for his bladder or he'll die w/o it. This just happened today and I'm beside myself.

I vowed that I WILL get that money for his surgery no matter what. I am not letting such a sweet cat that has been nothing but an angel the entire time we had him, die. So now we're discussing payment and gonna be 5k in debt it's worth it for him but it's still a lot to have as a bill rn.

His names Sterling. We've had him 2 years. He showed up at our country home and we instantly loved him. He's scared of loud noises and cries if he sees any kind of fire; even a candle flame. We think something involving fire happened to him. Lightbulbs like you see in the pumpkin are okay tho. He's just a blessing and I can't imagine the pain he's in rn.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can spare tips. Because with me working, that's less time to write the stories I love for all you guys to enjoy.
