opinion on susie?

hi sorry this took *reads clock* oh god this is from 8th of september oh christ i was procrastinating on finishing planet robobot bc i didnt want it to be over :c

anyways the short answer is i absolutely ADORE susie n shes easily one of the best antagonists

(note:my knowledge of anything being confirmed outside the implication of how susie knew sphere doomers and her 2.0 pause screen is non existent so uh lol if i get smth wrong? this is just how i connected the backstory lore drops in my head)

the long answer is i think shes extremely good at being sympathetic while still being extremely funny in an evil way, on one hand, i feel its very easy to understand what her deal is, she gets sent to hell as a child, crawls out of it likely already wondering deep inside why nobody came for her but too focused on reuniting with her father, only to find out not only has his work lost the purpose she knew of, but he didnt even know her anymore.i think it makes perfect sense with this shed end up not knowing what to do other than get back at him, like growing up in hell/space void/whatever man im sleepy will not result in you getting out fine and dandy specially if the person who mattered most to you, and who youd remember as your main reason to escape to reunite with, seems to not even care you were gone, and w having to fend for her life constantly, i can see why she wouldnt care for cooperating with his company as long as it leads her to the result she wants (of having haltmann remember and beg for her forgiveness), no reason girl wouldnt have a self benefit only survival sense

also i have nothing deep to say on her being funny shes just objectively the funniest kirby character.yippee! *gives you fatal computer brain damage while already fantasizing of you begging for my forgiveness*

n regarding what she did to meta knight (which is what pisses off most ppl)...its literally no worse than what taranza did to dedede, and not nearly as bad as what forgo did to him.theres nothing implying the robot turning process was painful for him and he literally flies it off like its no big deal.hes fine.also if she was a guy yall would be writing essays on the homoeroticism of your still overly angsty hcs of mecha knight.if you wanna complain abt something susie might have had dedede buried back into the castle rubble after getting his clone dna thing.kinda rude!

Happy Wednesday! No real updates here other than getting some more writing done. Finally! It's been slow going. Had to run low on that crazy momentum at some point but we are finishing this fic friends. Then I'm entering my silly era. Maybe sorta.

Also wow did the characters come for me in this scene and blow up my whole outline, now I gotta figure some shit out.

Why do you think I hated you so much?” “I always thought you hated me because I was a disaster.” “No, that’s why I loved you, you twit. Fuck your goodness, honestly. Though you are exceedingly good, pure as driven snow. Without significant flaws you’d be truly insufferable.” I snort a laugh. “Seriously? You love that I’m a mess?” “Yes.” “Why?” “Why am I most yours when I piss you off?” I shrug. I think of that fucking fight mostly, and that while I might have hated it, he was showing me something real. I wasn’t ready to see it, but that’s what it was. No mask, no deflection. “You being the hero has always been the thing that made this—us—impossible. But you being a mess? That’s when you are most mine.”

Some general headcanons bc I am in love with this male! These are not x reader Headcanons, just some general headcanons about him.

He actually would cry alot as a child, but learned to keep his emotions in check because Baron would beat him.

Back in the day, humans were kept as slaves for Faeries. The Vanserras still have a few and Eris loathes it. He doesn't particularly care for mortals, but doesn't want to see them in slavery either. It's the first thing he changes as high lord.

He really likes horses. Unlike his brothers, they are more than just tools to ride on. He brushes his horse and saddles her himself.

If he was in modern day, Hozier would be his top artist

He actually does nothing to his hair. It's short, and as long as he pats it back into shape after sleep, there's nothing to do to it.

His mother used to cry over him. Knowing such a sweet little boy would undoubtedly turn into a killer. Little Eris didn't understand, but hated to see his mom upset. He still gets bitter thinking about it.

When he was the equivalent of a teenager, he found out that Lucien was Helions son. He took an unbreakable oath not to tell anyone. And it's a good thing, because he almost blurted it out in an argument with his father.

okay so i saw that post that said "to be loved is to be changed, but in a horrific and unasked for transformation" and this is so snotacon both sides to me.

I mean, think about it. Otacon can't *kill* someone when Snake meets him, and that's true in two ways. Yeah, physically he's a spindly litte nerd who literally couldn't hurt someone if his life depended on it, but he couldn't do it mentally either. He designs weapons. That's a far cry from actually *using* them. He's a pencil pusher who wanted to build giant robots and was willing to believe that MG Rex wouldn't actually be used.

How long do you think *that* lasted, living, working with a mercenary? At what point do you think it sunk in that if he wanted to actually achieve anything with Philanthropy he was going to have to be okay with lethal force being involved?

Surely we don't think everything was non-lethal up to the tanker? I mean, he has to explain the tranqs work at the beginning of the mission, so it's probably new to him, right? So what were they doing before that? And they don't ask themselves if they should pull out when it becomes apparent that lethal force may be necessary, so clearly these won't be the start of Philanthropy's body count.

So when was the point that he resigned himself to the fact that he was going to have to be a lot closer to death and direct killing than he ever had been before? Did Snake insist on having final judgment off the bat? Did Otacon try to convince him that they needed to do it non-lethally, did they run a mission, maybe even a few come off clean, only for something to go terribly wrong? Did they get out by the skin of their teeth? Did Snake have to kill someone, and Otacon get upset by this first death? And did they have an argument where Snake points out that he is the one that has to pay the price for Otacon's personal mission against killing?

But that's all so obvious. Killing is bad, etc.

What about Snake?

I think the idea of caring for anyone is scary to him. Especially the extent to which he cares about Otacon.

I mean, half of his utility is in the fact that he just doesn't give a shit about himself, and has nobody left that gives a shit about him. He doesn't have anything to hold him back from giving 110% to the mission. If he dies, he dies. What does he care? He's a washed up alcoholic with PTSD previously known only to shrimps.

And he clearly values his utility. Even in 4, it's how he refers to himself. "An old killer." What use is he if he's concerned about whether he'll make it home in one piece.

When do you think that sinks in to him? Do you think was the first time Otacon told him to drop the mission and get back safe when things took a turn? Do you think he'd ever been in a situation where someone cared more about his life than whatever they were sending him to do? Do you think Kaz even pretended to genuinely care about his safety in the field? Forget Campbell, that's right out, he couldn't even let Snake be as he's fucking dying. Do you think he tried to finish it out first, only for Otacon to beg and scream at him that he was serious?

Or do you think it was when he got hurt, badly hurt, and he sees Otacon sitting over him at night, making sure he's okay, changing his bandages, and out of the corner of his eye he sees a hand wipe away tears, or hears a quiet sniffle, because Otacon realized how close he was to losing Snake.

Or maybe comms get cut unexpectedly during a shootout, and he gets sidetracked, held up somewhere, makes it back to the rendezvous point just under the wire, and Otacon is bawling because he really thought he lost Snake for good this time.

Do you think Snake realizes that at first? Do you think he's too obtuse to realize the tears are over him? Are from fear for him?

At what point do you think he realizes that the numbness he's fostered, that's been intentionally fostered in him (remember, he's the "Cipher-backed son", he's been moved from foster family to foster family more times than he can count, made intentionally to feel disposable, for the sake of creating a perfect soldier) has been replaced with this new pain, this fear, not even for himself, but for Otacon, for the gaping hole he realizes he'll leave in Otacon's life if something's to happen?

At what point do you think Snake realized that he'd turned a regular civilian into a mercenary, in mind if not body?

At what point do you think Otacon realized he'd fundamentally taken a US military asset and broken it over his knee?

I have no idea if theres like a term for this, but like, where i used to live (bronx projects babeyyyy) you would have lots of old ladies and men sitting outside their apartment complexes, talking for HOURS on end. And in front of some shopping areas underneath trees it was SPECIFICALLY old men in like their 70s just kinda vibin in the shade and talking to each other. My dad called them pigeons bc there were so many of them and they chatted (cooed) at each other for hours n hours. Which i thought was cute (i love pigeons rhfjfbdjdbd) and the men were very nice to me; very old cuban and puerto rican men who asked how my day was and asked if i wanted to play dominos or checkers w them. (There was a group of older black men that would play old 80s hits and play chess too ☺️)

ANYWAY i am saying this bc when i think of catty old men, i think of that group of men i saw almost everyday for 20+ years of my life 😭 they could be SO mean and with the little bit of spanish i did know, i could hear them talking shit about people on the block😭 but they were very nice to most people, u literally just had to say hi and they would smile super wide

Peppino clocks out and hes like “i got plans today, sorry.” And its him going to the saloon in the desert to go get drinks with vigilante and like Other Old Cheeses or something, like thats his idea of a good time; talking shit about people he doesnt like with OTHER people who are eager to hear him shittalk (and vice versa) 😭 he doesnt get shitfaced, hes just there to relax and listen to Vigilante get in a tizzy about some bounties givin him a hassle. And sometimes Vigilante comes along with his group of friends to the Pizzeria instead and they all settle down after hours and drink 😊
