I think this is done for now, unless I decide to make more accessories for it. I'd call this more industrial than cyber, but I'm happy with that, that's more my vibe anyway. The yellow and black reminds me of the Caterpillar logo, factories, power tools and such. I didn't think the front really needed much so I concentrated on the back.
I've tightened it a little to make the shape more flattering. The patches on the shoulders are song titles (see my original post for how I made them), the two on the back are band logos (Combichrist and, unsurprisingly, V2A).
I like to sew on my home-made patches with invisible stitching. There are tutorials for this online, but essentially it involves ironing down all the hems and then inserting your needle into and along the fold, so the sewing can't be seen when you pull it tight. This has to be done by hand of course!
I remembered I also had this iron on bee patch that I bought ages ago, and although a bee doesn't have much to do with cyber/industrial aesthetics the colours are 100% perfect, and I think it's quite visually pleasing to draw the eye down into a point at the bottom. Though it's iron-on I did also add some safety stitches.
I didn't want to absolutely cover the dress in embellishments, just a little to put my own stamp on it, and I think I've accomplished that!
I did a previous post on this matching collar, but here it is again. I felt like having a single ring at the front was a little BDSM which isn't me (no shade to those who enjoy that, but not my thing) so I doubled it up with a smaller one inside which I think helps make it look more decorative.
And re the cost - the dress was £1 from a charity shop, the matching yellow fabric to make patches, also £1. Yes, technically it did cost more than that because I used more things to make it, but it was all stuff I had in my craft boxes already, so I didn't need to spend any more than £2 😁
not sure what's going on with Tumblr with my reblog but I hope the video works now.
