I am very sympathetic to any sort of like “I am feeling too mentally ill to be a good friend now” stuff. I really am. Canceled plans. Not replying to texts urgently. Even forgetting specific dates or whatever. Like, I’ve been there and I know I WILL be there in the future.

But I do recommend that if you are this person, frequently, that you really, really, really need to at least get to a space where you feel comfortable shooting off a a text (at some point, not even immediately) that’s just a brief “Hey, not feeling great/I’ve been super overwhelmed, and can’t respond much rn! Sorry!” or something to that effect. I know it doesn’t feel good but like... neither does having someone go suddenly silent on you.

Even when you know the silence isn’t your fault, it still hurts to send a good faith text or to try to follow up on “rescheduled” plans and get literally nothing in return. If you’re too embarrassed about feeling shitty again, lie and just say you’ve been super busy. ALmost anything is better than just completely bailing.

I do think there is a personal responsibility on both sides here. There is the responsibility to be sympathetic to the fact that sometimes life happens and life sucks but also... there is the responsibility to at least TRY to not leave someone hanging.

In the last few months Ive seen so many tiktoks, comments, posts, ect. where people are harassing, sending death threats, sending suibait, sending rape threats, sending doxxing threats and more just because of fictional ships, and it just blows my mind honestly, like what happened to ship and let ship, and dont like dont read?

I personally dont ship anything people like that would consider "problematic", and i despise pedophilic ships, and other stuff makes me very uncomfortable too, but i dont harass the people who ship it, i just say to myself "ew that makes me uncomfortable", block them or the ship, and move on, LIKE A NORMAL PERSON.

It is FICTION, there has been studies proving that fiction does not affect real life, and if you are harassing REAL PEOPLE over a FICTIONAL CHARACTER, quite frankly, you are the bad guy here.

Something I've been thinking about lately is how RWBY wants to be a show about change but is either too scared to commit or not interested in exploring damages to the status quo. Major events happen in the story all the time, events that should have hurricane sized ripple effects throughout the world, but you would never get that impression from watching the show

We never see anything about Vale after the Fall of Beacon because none of the main characters are there anymore. We don't stay in Haven after the death of the academy's headmaster and have no idea how they plan to replace the huntsman killed at Salem's command. Atlas has fallen, crushing two major cities in a single go and dumping both populations in a literal desert, but we won't find out the aftermath ever because JRWBY had to dick around in watered-down wonderland for a whole season

Every attempt to make it seem like there are actual consequences falls flat, like the Dust embargo. RNJR get Dust just fine in the middle of nowhere without any mention of skyrocketing prices (which already should have been sky high considering Roman stole a bunch of Dust in V1) or complaints about the limited selection or any discussion of how to ration their supplies

It's hard to care about Remnant when it doesn't act like a coherent world should
