#it was amazing and hilarious and maybe my new favorite episode
Text
What I'm excited for coming soon (TADC episode 2, SpongeBob, and Wallace & Gromit and more)
Okay, I'm going to start with The Amazing Digital Circus episode 2 since it's all my friends and I are thinking about. Just when I didn't think it was going to be better than the first one, I really trust Glitch and Gooseworx with this! I saw the trailer and I'm way more excited, in fact, maybe a little too much. I just know it's going to be fun and hilarious! Although I'm worried that Pomni might get abstracted, I don't want her to abstract. She's one of my favorites but I don't want anyone to abstract really. I'm too attached to these characters! Also, I saw those moments with Ragatha and Princess Loolilalu meeting each other and I love to see girls supporting girls in anything. I find it very healing to my inner child, and also I just like the girl power, it's so refreshing to see! Also, I heard that this will focus more on Jax, who's kind of a jerk sometimes and maybe they'll give him a softer side here, or something to make people feel bad for him, and I like that idea to show that not everyone is all bad or all good. Also, Jax has been stuck in the digital world since he was a teen so you can't help but to feel bad for him. Another thing, that candy elephant thing looks cool and I really hope Gumigoo is voiced by Tustin Macafee. If he's not, it's fine, but I can't think of anyone better for the voice role than Tustin!
As for the new SpongeBob movie, it's gonna be released in theaters and the OG team is going to come back (except for the creator, who sadly passed away a while ago). I heard something that one of the directors said that there will be nudity in the new SpongeBob movie, but I hope he was joking.
Also, I love that they're making fun of AI with this new Wallace & Gromit movie. As an artist, I think people overdo it with AI and that I think we should stop using it for art purposes unless it's only to mess around with and not actually use. I hope they make fun of Disney too. Imagine making fun of both AI and Disney, in an Aardman movie! That'd be awesome! Also, I heard Nick Park wasn't going to work on it at first but he decided to come back (I think he changed his mind after the new Chicken Run 2) and I really hope Wallace & Gromit makes more money than Chicken Run 2.
Also, I'm not much of a Disney fan so I don't care much about the Inside Out sequel or Moana sequel. I think they're really unnecessary, however, I have more hope for the Inside Out sequel than the Moana one, even though I do like Moana better. I feel like Disney should just stick to Kiff and that Molly Magee show or whatever its called, because those are the only two good things that Disney still has left. (Obviously, I'm religious and don't watch shows with ghosts, so I'm just more interested in Kiff but both shows are better than Disney's movies rn).
Finally, the last Bluey episode... I haven't watched it yet and I hear it's really emotional. I don't think I'm prepared for that so I'll stick to watching my favorites, like the beach one. I just hope they don't end Bluey yet, it's the only good kid shows that's still running. Plus, it's from Australia and they deserve to make a lot of money off this show, even though greedy Disney is involved in airing it in my country. I support the foreign shows all the way!
Tell me your thoughts! PLEASE CHAT WITH ME IN THE COMMENTS, ESPECIALLY YOU TADC FANS! DON'T HIDE!

I FINISHED MLP YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!
(Started December 3, 2022 - Ended January 1, 2024 - 413 Days)
Am absolutely mindblown to see such an amazing series go through 9 seasons and literally continuously keep getting better and better!!!!!!!
Its been very cool binging it so quickly compared to most old fandom members watching it through syndication. Similar to when I rewatched SU there's such a difference seeing ideas and characters evolve at normal pace than to sit there for years brewing in fandom content that makes you expect them to go a different path. Lots of what I've heard be controversial things like Slice of Life and Starlight in general were some of my favorite parts of the show!!
Fav episode is The Perfect Pear, I was spoiled William Shatner was gonna play someone in the series and was SO FUCKIGN EXCITED when I realized it was him and in such an amazing episode!!!!! The ending was so fucking sweet omg.
Second fav was Slice of Life cause I get it was fanservice but on its own it was a great change of pace in the season to focus on background and side characters!!! After that it feels like they focused on background characters way more and it was very rewarding.
Seeing ***every single shot of Derpy*** was the funnest part of the show, I have personal screenshots of every single time I spotted her and stopping in the middle of songs or big fights just to scream and snapshot them was such a fun scavenger hunt. It made me go NUTS to see them do actual stuff on screen (ESPECIALLY THE SCENE IN BEST GIFT EVER WHEN SHE FINALLY GOT TO SPEAK IN FOREVER). It was also hilarious to see all the error derpies with fucked up colors and hair!!!!! It stopped in the later seasons except a time where she had a purple eye in a single shot, and one where she had big mac's face???? I was having a blast.
Similarly I was also just watching every single background character all the time every time, got to figure out which ponies would be used for which locations, when they'd appear in other places, which special ones could show up anywhere, which ones would do funny stuff, seeing new super cute background characters come in like Sweet Biscuit and Rainbow Stars!!! As someone hyperfocused on stupid stuff this was so fun watching the background nonstop.
Favorite season was season 6 or 7. Starlight was a great link for the episodes and it was the most normal seasons while the writing had gotten really good. Season 8 and 9 are still super good and I love that they were so willing to be bold and change things up a ton to keep interest, but 6 and 7 are closer to the usual baseline episode stuff so they're the best to go back to if I wanna rewatch.
I think the early seasons were still looking for a longterm identity for the show but I think starting season 5 it became this really great constant escalation of things. I really expected the show to just linger around the same ol' topics but it it kept changing the characters lives, the plot, and circumstances a ton while developing old characters and introducing new ones! Out of everything I've watched so far it was like the most masterful way to run a longterm series I've seen. Never felt burnt out or that anything was dragging, but also never felt like it ever lost its core identity!
Season 9 also was just a masterclass on ending a series, every single episode focused on bringing back some side character to give them an interesting spin, or conclude some arcs left behind. There were maybe one or two normal episodes but even those didnt feel like filler! I think the show was at its best throwing new ideas out and then taking a break with a standard friendship problem episode in a normal location. After watching it I don't think there was any missing thread or interesting thing they didn't try out! (Though also the series is formatted well enough they definitely could have continued making tons of standard episodes)
I can't remember if it was season 2 or 3 but I think when they first started introducing like regular songs to non adventure/important episodes it was really off, didn't really mesh well having the show be so musical, but they definitely incorporated it better as they went along and its kinda crazy it worked out well.
BTW I've steered clear from almost all opinions on the show outside of what Ray tells me so I dont know what of my opinions are universal to the fandom, but holy shit the season 8-9 intro sucks so much ass, all of the timing is COMPLETELY lost, theres that stupid school zoom out shot thats just maud hitting a rock in the middle of the road as it slowwwwwly pans, the backgrounds are way too visually noisy in the classrooms and the castle and its just an absolutely horrible nightmare that was thrown together in a day.
But yeah great show favorite show best show!!!!! I now get to see a decade of fan content and reviews and discussions n such!!! I watched some that were time appropriate for the current season I was watching to avoid spoilers but nows time for the floodgates!!!!! I'm glad I'll be able to hold onto my opinions now though and seperate them from anything I'm gonna further see discussed by all the old fans. I'm sure there will be tons of complaints I never considered but as I see it now that was a perfect run of television that I love very dearly!!!! Its certainly changed my life going forward lol.

Finale Thoughts...
I have just watched it once through and here are my initial feelings
The Morrigan Manor Episode was ok.
After the Guide tattled on Guillermo for the last episode it was harder for me to feel bad for her in a weird way. I felt like I understand why they aren't friends with her. She doesn't match their vibe at all. Also the oil paintings were too much sweetness. ( that being said I still love the Guide, I just hope we get more of her badass self next season)
Laszlo using the doc footage to save them was great though. Laszlo was top tier all season. The fencing fight was the disappearance I liked best. Matt Berry is so hilarious.
Felt like the reveal it was the Guide was poor/ to obvious and I mostly hoped to have Nandor find out about Guillermo for this episode.
I maybe need to watch again but for some reason I thought Nandor would react bigger when he finally found out.
Exit interview had a lot of highs and lows. Probably my least favorite finale of the show over all though.
High- I loved the gang protecting Guillermo. Each worrying for Guillermo in their own way. Nadja and Laszlo genuinely caring for him. Colin calls him Gigi. Nandor going to his moms house and then there mini fight to prove they trust each other also awesome. Nandor knowing how to fix Guillermo amazing. I was ecstatic when Guillermo finally turned. When he finally felt it. After all this time. The vamps all taking him to hunt awesome. They are a family. I also loved that it is Nandor that knows this is not for Guillermo. The Djinn. The whole crew coming together for the fake ceremony was a genius plan of nandor.
Lows- he turns back so fast. Like after 13 years of servitude, 5 seasons and this whole season? I would have loved for them to just end with the turning, then black. They could have used next season to explore Guillermo changing his mind. Very anticlimactic. Like no matter what everything has to comeback to the status quo. It was a little reminiscent of how the baby Colin stuff meant nothing, and how the time in London was also swept away. Something Something about how if you choose vampirism nothing ever changes maybe. I am also concerned about Guillermo not having that motivation anymore. He just loves the vamps so he stays as their butler? He received everything he wanted. Nandor said he would live their as their equal. So is that off now? Other stuff I was not happy with. Nadja's storyline was pointless in the end. They could have done a lot more with the Guide/Nadja thing. She wasn't even central to how it was resolved. Natasia Demetriu is so fantastic, I hope they finally start centering her next season. I also wish they would have left some kinda cliff hanger. Is that weird? Like is something happening with the creatures they made? The vampire council? The energy vampires? The over hypnotizing Staten island? No? Didn't know I would not like everything tidied up at the end. Also almost would have preferred Morrigan Manor air on its own.
Over all this season was fantastic. Pride Parade is one of the best episode of the whole series. Urgent Care, Local News and The Roast were also top class.
As for the Nandermo of it all, Last year kinda put me on the path to Gen ship them, Guillermo not wanting to be a vampire anymore makes me think the show will end with him leaving them behind.
If they are leaving the Guillermo wants to be a vampire behind I hope next season they give him really great new motivation or maybe just refocus on other characters stories instead. Especially Nadja .

Chronotrek TNG Part 2
Season 1 Ep 8- Season 2 Ep 1
I didn't do a very good job of keeping notes for most of this (and I might not until I'm Actually Watching again vs having it on while I work).
"There can be no justice so long as laws are absolute." More "woke garbage" that conservatives (and shatner) missed the first time around, I guess lmao.
16- Why not just cast actual old people-- oh, it's another de-aging plot. Carry on.
17- Knowing that Frakes had a back injury makes it really easy to spot. Poor guy.
23- ok ffs, if the captain calls down to Engineering, it's because he needs to know something, probably quickly. you don't delay that by giving him your full first, middle initial, last name and title when you answer the phone, you just say "Engineering".
Skipping things and doing them by hand because the _computer_ is too slow?? Are you INSANE?? It's amazing these ships don't blow up more.
RIP Yar. Does everyone just... record themselves saying goodbye to everyone just in case? brb gonna go write a letter then make sure never to update it so the things i say will be weirdly out of context.
25- Data trying to understand jokes and faking laughter is A+, no notes, I totally see why he is the autistic posterchild.
"no logs" except those needed for the narrative I guess.
Still cutting from close-ups to wide angle, from the back, stunt fight shots, huh? Even more jarring in this one with how frequently it cuts back and forth so the old admiral can kick riker in the chin.
And Season 2's opener... I have a few feelings about this one.
1- the captain outing troi's pregnancy to everyone... nice tact, cap. but the hilarious part is that he's like Picard- Counselor Troi is pregnant Riker- no reaction Picard- She's going to have a baby. Riker- :shocked_pikachu: A BABY?! yes, Riker, that's what pregnant means.
I hate pregnancy storylines (and apparently Troi's actress did too, or at least this was listed on IMDB as her least favorite ep)
I do not like the new doctor. Maybe it's bias bc I saw something about how Beverly was removed bc the actress fought against the sexist storyline last season, but she makes a mockery of Data's 'bruised feelings' when he corrects her pronunciation of his name (One is my name, the other is not.) and when he leaves, she has the parting blow of 'Day-ta. Whatever.' like his feelings, his NAME, don't matter to her. There was something else too, but I didn't write it down and now I've forgotten. She's just... grating on me for some reason.
However, the highlight of this episode is Worf volunteering to 'tuck Wesley in at night.' It was a cute scene about making sure that Wesley doesn't feel isolated if he stays onboard without his mom, that he still has people to act as his family aboard, looking out for him and acknowledging that even if he is an acting ensign, he's still a child.

Aight I wanna confess something
So it’s still Pokémon that got me into art in the first place, but like many kids it was Sonic the Hedgehog the got me into writing and story making
I made tons of bad OCs when I was young
Will I be sharing them? No, no I will not.
But anyways, as much as the franchise has been going downhill, it’s still very dear to me. I think I was even obsessed with it long before I knew Pokémon even existed. I have this one memory from when I was three and an episode of sonic X was playing in the living room one morning and it just fascinated me for some reason.
I’m not very involved in the fandom anymore nor have I really kept up with the series but when I saw people talking about sonic prime I thought I’d see what it was all about
And I gotta say I LOVE this new show
Maybe it’s just because my hyperfixation is still undertale but I love the idea of alternate universes. I think the comics even played with this idea for awhile(genesis portals if I remember correctly?) and im excited to see it play out in other media.
So far this is by far my favorite character. I loved how different Nine is from canon tails. He’s an edgy little punk and im here for it. I also love his “suck it up and get it done” attitude. And the idea of a robotic kitsune is amazing
Also apparently his voice actor also voices Rainbow Dash in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and i think that’s hilarious

Kim Possible Episode Tiers: The B-Tier
Don't overthink it. These are all pretty good episodes.
Pain King vs. Cleopatra: The introduction of Monique! I have a weird affection for this episode because I can distinctly remember watching it when it was released (and then playing the stupid flash game associated with it). One-off villain and meh plot makes it okay.
Tumblr media
Number One: It's funny to know that Will was introduced as Ron's romantic rival. Obviously the show is much better for them not pursuing that storyline. This episode successfully introduces Duff and has one of my favorite lines of the series.
The Truth Hurts: The half-episodes are about laughs. I don't think this one does amazing at it (apart from the initial Drakken/Shego confrontation), but it's sort of a fun high concept episode that probably would have benefitted from a full length expansion.
The Big Job: The Jr. and Shego relationship is actually pretty fun and could have used a few more episodes. This one is highlighted by how good the fight while trying to park in San Francisco is.
Tumblr media
Ron the Man: The introduction of the Pandimensional Vortex Inducer and Dementor is a bit of a drag, mostly because I'm not sure how poigniant this episode is anymore by analyzing Ron's masculinity. It may be dated, but there's a lot of good here (including Shego asking Drakken how many men he can handle in a fight).
Mentor of Our Discontent: I have previously expressed my love for Lucre, but this episode detracts from that. I want to describe it as "diluted" because there's too much stuff going on.
Downhill: I think this is a really solid episode and maybe the only one where the high school plotline outshines the spy plotline. I don't have any particular fondness for DNAmy as a villain, but the theme of recognizing your parents as actual people does hit true for me.
Sink or Swim: Good episode and the first instance of "Ron is actually valuable." MORE RON AND TARA.
Tumblr media
Naked Genius: I think this marks the point where Shego's respect for Drakken begins to deteriorate. It's a good high concept episode and I love that Ron is successful at making some fashion of doomsday device.
October 31st: It's a solid episode, almost in spite of the "Kim lies to everyone" plot.
Job Unfair: Honestly, this might deserve to be higher. All of Shego and Drakken's weather machine manual talk is brilliant and Janitor Joe is a really likeable character. It's a real success at merging the A and B plots.
Tumblr media
The Golden Years: Kim's nanna successfully completes the dance of going from annoying to awesome. It's also refreshing to see Drakken be such a proponent for the aged community. I also like the hint at his business sense from running the ice cream truck.
Motor Ed: Successful introduction of two good characters. It's a legitimately compelling problem that Kim doesn't know how to speak to someone that's paralyzed!
Showdown at the Crooked D: I enjoy that Shego takes interest in Drakken's high school bitterness. I could listen to Ron and Joss forever . . . it would be nicer if Joss liked Ron better.
Tumblr media
Triple S: It's a very fun expansion of Senior's backstory.
Big Bother: I really enjoy the seemingly main story about Monkey Fist taking place in the background. I'm less into Kim being jealous of Yori and Ron hating his little sister.
The Cupid Effect: I am ignoring the real world implications of the existence of a "love ray." It's a fun Senior plot and I liked Ron giving Wade romantic advice (like, the dude landed Kim . . . he's doing something right).
Ill-Suited: I have nothing to say outside of Dementor attempting to convince Kim and Ron by wearing a house dress.
Tumblr media
Grudge Match: There's a lot going on here with Zita, Larry, etc. It's just a decent episode.
Gorilla Fist: I think this is the first episode meant to make you realize that Kim is actually in on Ron. If I talked about it more, I could probably get sentimental enough to bump it up a few tiers (also the Monkey Fist/DNAmy plot line is hilarious).
All the News: Ron makes Kim suffer in high school and AdrenaLynn isn't the best villain. Should I have had this lower?

I was tagged by @jiminsproof @summerwave & @cosmicdreamgrl to list 10 TV shows to get to know me. Thanks to Natalia, Heather, and Steph 💜💜💜
NCIS LA - This show is the reason I'm on Tumblr and my first fandom. I've met some really amazing people because of this show and it will always have a special place in my heart.
Community - I've lost track of how many times I've rewatched this show. It's one of my comfort shows and I'll never get tired of it.
Futurama - I'm currently rewatching this one for the who knows how many times. It's still hilarious and amazing. Possible controversial opinion - the episode with Fry's brother and the seven leaf clover is more heart wrenching that the one with his dog.
Psych - Shawn Spencer is the dumbest smart boy in the world so of course he's my favorite.
Star Trek - No, I will not choose a specific series and you can't make me. All Star Trek is good so I'm choosing all of it.
Elementary - Platonic soulmate detectives solving crimes while having the best wardrobe in the world? Yes please!
New Girl - Another show I've rewatched a bunch of times. Nick Miller is my soulmate.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend - Just an absolute brilliant show. Every episode has amazing songs that will get stuck in your head forever.
Bob's Burgers - The Belchers are the best TV family. Maybe the best family period.
Justified - Everyone on this show is a sassy asshole and I love them. Plus Timothy Olyphant just keeps getting more and more attractive the older he gets. It's really not fair.
Tagging @lauraperfectinsanity @lightedwindows @zerotolove @sspaz1000 @sonyarebecchi and anyone else who wants to do this 💗

The Chay Rewatch
As part of my KP Rewatch, I’m going to be commenting on each episode and analyzing the different Chay scenes. He’s my favorite character, and I thought I’d put down my thoughts (as well as timestamps for his scenes) as a fun way to express that.
Ep 1 & 2 Chay Rewatch
Episode 3 - Enter Kim Stage Right
Tumblr media
Time: 1:46 – 1:54 & 2:04-2:07 – Previously on, my greatest enemy and only ally
At least they used different clips this time
Where is my baby boi? Where is Chay? When will he return?
Ep 3 dives deeper into how screwed up all three of the major family boys are
Kinn can’t commit and is slowly falling for who Porsche is
Tankhun is hilarious, and his outfits are always a treasure trove of weird fashion. His trauma is so present even when he’s having fun. Tong plays him so well.
And then there’s Kim.
Time: 31:38 – 33:51 – Mysterious Balcony Man
The introduction to Kim is done is pieces, slowly feeding the audience. The storytelling carries on the amazing writing from episode 1. It’s a great way of showing that Kim may not be living in the compound or running things, but he’s one to watch out for (and maybe even fear). First, we hear Pete’s description of him back in ep 2 (that essentially states he’s dangerous and aloof while also setting up that his storyline isn’t going to connect to the family compound much) and then we hear his voice just before Big bows to someone offscreen. The build up tells the viewers that this new person, the one that we’ve been waiting for almost 3 episodes for, is powerful and to be feared. The colors of this scene are also noticeably darker as compared to the warmer tones used in the main family compound or the bright pink from Yok’s bar.
I adore the first shot we get of Kim. Standing with his back to the camera, he retains his air of mystery, but the metal fixtures on the glass doors make me think of a birdcage. He’s out of the compound, hell he’s even in the open air, but this shot shows that he’s just as trapped in the mafia world as his brothers despite the space he’s tried to create between himself and his family. He’s the songbird trapped in Korn’s game.
“Are you in the wrong place?” – Kim is so bitchy I love him. This is Kimhan Theerapanyakul, the third son. Before we even see his face, we get to know his arrogant and aloof side. Except do we? Kim immediately asks who is protecting his brother, and he knows enough about Kinn’s guards to know that Ken is the likely successor with Big injured. Kim’s emotions are always just under the surface. The only problem is no one digs deeper until we get to Porchay. Everyone is scared of Kim or just accepts the mask he shows them.
Kimlock Holmes makes his introduction. A new bodyguard with a suspicious background? Who’s been put on the security detail of both of his brothers? Big you might as well have wrapped this mystery with a bow. In all seriousness, Kim is protective of the few people he allows into his heart (though he will never ever tell them that), and this news would have put his brain on red alert because Kim will not tolerate any harm to his loved ones.
“Do you want one heartbroken song, huh?” – What a little bitch, again I love him. Kim sandwiches his concern for his brothers with two backhanded comments attacking Big. Kim (I’m going to let you all in on a secret) is very bad at hiding. His concern, his conspiracy board, his feelings for Chay, etc. This man is so lucky that everyone is a little scared of him and knows to keep away, or he’d be found out in an instant. (Also, only one Kim? After Chay blocks you, you’ll be writing a million. Love the foreshadowing to Kim’s inevitable heartbreak though. This show does do great set up for some of the storylines)
And then the scene ends without ever showing the viewer Kim’s face further drawing out the viewer’s introduction to Kim. Its honestly great set up for this character, and while he’s not the only one receiving this kind of drawn out treatment (hello Vegas in ep 2 with the hot assassin lady) his is done successfully. I remember first watching this show with no background at all wondering who the hell this guy is (I did have to rewatch the scenes to match the voices before I could connect mysterious balcony guy to WiK but that’s neither here nor there)
Kim’s outfit: Either costuming or Jeff really love themselves an oversized suit jacket. It makes Jeff look bigger than he actually is which works for the introduction of his character. Its also very different from his other outfits through the series. He’s dressed closer to the major family look with his suit jacket and darker color scheme. He still retains his idol status though making this one of the few looks that blend his two personas. I have a few theories about how Kim uses his different jackets as a shield to hide his real self, given the only times we see Kim not wearing his jackets is when he’s in his feelings about Chay (ie the warehouse scene, the fight in Yok’s bar, him recording the song, him crying over Chay’s polaroids), I’d say I’m close to being right
Still no Chay, but I will accept meeting his love interest during this Chay drought
Overall Chay Rating (Chrating): I’ll give this episode a D
There’s still no Chay, but we get a really great introduction to Kim which sets up Chay’s entire storyline. Thus, a slightly better grade. Episode 3 in general is better than episode 2 to me. Its not jamming a ton of character intros and wacky worldbuilding into the episode the same way Ep 2 does. We get a real introduction to Tankhun and Kim as well as the first sparks of KinnPorsche. I could have done without 2 party scenes in one ep (mainly because to me it makes them feel rushed), and it makes me as a viewer wonder when we’re going to get any real mafia action in the mafia romance story. But overall, I have one question... WHERE IS MY BABY BOI?!

Barry.
Tumblr media
"Admit that you were scared, that you hate yourself. That there's some days you don't think you deserve to live. And the only thing that'll make you forget is by being someone else."
IMDB: 8.4/10
SPOILERS
It's not always that a show can make you laugh your heart out, get you biting your nails and be so mercilessly sad at the same time. It's odd how picking up a show on a whim just to give 1 episode a shot can lead you to skip all your exam studies, not get out of your room for 2 days and look at yourself in the mirror and think that you have made your own life worthless.
I do not like going to the places that shows like this take you to. Was Barry hilarious? Absolutely. It's one of the funniest directions of comedy I've ever seen. The on-going jokes to quick witty callbacks, and even comedic action with zoomed out shots- the show has it all.
Bill Hader as Barry and the director of Barry, the show, might be one of the most telling details to me. The comedy is so on point, but the truly horrifying and dark moments? They are as dark as they can get. You wouldn't expect someone known for his comedic roles to direct such grotesque and dark moments, but here we are. It's funny how comedians are the ones who end up playing the best complex and troubled characters. Maybe it takes a good laugh at the world to truly understand how horrifying it really is?
The show actively calls me out and I dislike it. It's like watching Bojack Horseman, or finishing Oyasumi Punpun. Except that the comedy is absolutely gold. Did I mention the comedy enough times already?
Anthony Carrigan is my new favorite comedic relief. Noho Hank is a memorable character, and I'll never forget how much I loved him saying "what the fuck. they are hugging" during the first episode. Truly glad to have seen him shine throughout the show.
Henry Winkler and Sarah Goldberg may shine among the other stars, but I can't get past how amazing Bill Hader was. His slow descent into madness, portrayal of a military vet, always and always failing to get a hold of the "second chances" he is given.
One of the few 10/10 shows for me. I really would've loved if it ended on Season 3 episode 8, but it didn't. And it took us to an unforgiving ride, a fitting end to every character of the show.
youtube
I still think about this. "Frrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeedom."
And of course, how both of these scenes are from the same show.
youtube
The absolute deterioration of character. I thought he was evolving. What the fuck, Bill?
An assassin pursuing an acting character is a really funny plotline if you ask me. It getting so dark wasn't what I expected. Came for the laughs and I'm leaving even more fucked up.

Hitman Review
“Hitman” starts by introducing the Breakfast Kingdom, one of my favorite kingdoms in the show, located in the Bad Lands. Similarly, Breakfast Princess has one of my favorite princess designs. The crew couldn’t decide whether to go with the drawing of Breakfast Princess or of what became Toast Princess, so they put them both in and made them sisters. Good solution! They’re eating breakfast in bed and it looks so relaxing. I love the oranges hanging in their bedroom. It’s just one scene and it left me dying for an episode set there. Ice King breaks in, which seems pretty routine for them. Breakfast Princess just calmly calls Finn. It’s funny how Finn and Jake immediately burst through the door. Finn accuses Ice King of using a love potion, a reference to “Ricardio the Heart Guy.” Finn and Jake view Ice King as more of a nuisance than a villain after the season two finale. They treat him like a misbehaving kid, grounding him instead of beating him up like we’re used to. Their argument over being grounded, with escalating punishments, is hilarious. Finn’s exaggerated smug expression when he threatens to increase the punishment to four weeks is the funniest Finn expression in the series. I love how Ice King takes the grounding seriously. Finn calls him “bubble butt”, and Ice King runs off with a shot of his big blueberry-looking buttcheeks.
I love Ice King throwing a temper tantrum back at his castle. Even in his anger, having to obey Finn and Jake’s punishment is just a given for him. He is fine with hitting them, as long as he stays grounded like he was told. He turns on his holographic computer, which has a pear logo. Ooo must have misinterpreted whatever records of Apple products they still have as a pear. That or Adventure Time takes place in the iCarly/Victorious universe. Ice King searches for a hitman online, wanting them to just literally hit Finn and Jake. He doesn’t know what a hitman is. No other episode portrays Ice King as stupid as this one. It’s an interesting revelation that Ooo has the internet, something that stays consistent. With how easy it is to find hitmen, the internet must be the wild west in Ooo. I can buy that as I doubt Ooo has an international body regulating the internet. Or Ice King just knows how to access the dark web. He hires Scorcher, another amazing new character design. Ice King is way out of depth interacting with someone like this.
Scorcher sets fire to the treehouse. Finn and Jake are making meat-filled sandwiches that look even better than the breakfast at the beginning. They got their meat from the fabled Meat Man, a character that we never see, which is probably for the best. Ice King puts out the fire, and I like how devastated Jake is at his sandwich being frozen in ice, and how angry Finn is at such a horrible tragedy Ice King brought upon Jake. Ice King still doesn’t understand that Scorcher is trying to kill Finn and Jake. He does not want them dead, he’s come a long way from his threats of murder in “Prisoners of Love”. Scorcher tries again while Finn and Jake are sleeping. Eating Meat Man’s meat is really weighing on Jake’s conscious. He has a guilt dream about it. Scorcher’s ability to transform into deadly smoke is really cool. He tries to suffocate Finn and Jake until Ice King again saves them.
Ice King pulls out a big cash money wad to pay Scorcher not to kill Finn and Jake. Scorcher burns it. He never asks for payment. He doesn’t give a shit about money, he does this for sport. He doesn’t speak, but you can tell he goes by a strict code. He made a signed contract with Ice King to not stop until Finn and Jake are dead. Ice King offers a talking reindeer head to hang, another amazing joke, this one much more random. Next he offers night-vision x-ray goggles “for when you have a lady houseguest”. The combination of both night-vision and x-ray is funny, as is Ice King using it to see women naked. Pretty sure you would only see their skeleton, but maybe that’d still be a turn-on for Ice King. He offers to let Scorcher kill his least favorite princesses instead. It makes sense LSP is one of them, as he didn’t like her lumps in “Loyalty to the King.” The picture of her looks derpy, she has more lumps than that! Scorcher views these attempts as nothing but insulting bribes. Ice King getting away by faking a leg cramp is another great joke.
Hiring a hitman hitman is a brilliantly funny concept. Blastronaut charges nearly a hundred dollars. No idea where Ice King gets his money from. I love how Blastronaut blasts through guns blazing and Scorcher just calmly defeats him with a single slice. He looks like the protagonist of an old arcade game. But, it turns out he’s just a tiny, naked goblin in a suit. Ice King still has no idea who he’s dealing with, and tries to pull the ol’ “look over there!” trick. Ice King proclaims that somebody got hit in the “boingloings”, Ooo terminology for balls. It took the writers a long time to get this line past Cartoon Network. They went from using the word “balls”, to “nuts”, to “cashews”, and finally settled on the funniest version of the line anyway. It’s a very funny behind-the scenes story, just as funny as the episode itself.
I love the look on Jake’s face as he stares outside the window, having an existential crisis. He decides to stop eating Meat Man. The running gag about Meat Man is great. It’s totally unnecessary as this episode is funny enough as is, but it adds yet another great element to this one. Ice King comes to warn Finn and Jake about Scorcher. It’s quite the sign of development that he’s willing to swallow his pride in order to protect them. I like how Ice King saying “I hired a guy to kill you by accident” is just framed as a kid confessing to their parents that they did something naughty. Jake’s sarcasm is great, “Good job. Good job, the Ice King.”
Scorcher chases Finn, Jake, and Ice King. It’s cool to see the three of them working together again. Scorcher almost kills Finn and Jake again, but Ice King blocks the attack. Even though it's his fault, Ice King saved their lives multiple times this episode. Scorcher is one of the strongest characters in the series, very few villains have managed that. Ice King proposes to freeze Finn and Jake to fake their death. They are having none of that idea, but it seems more like they think Ice King is too incompetent to not accidentally kill them, which is totally fair. I wouldn’t trust season 9 Ice King with my life. He freezes them anyway. It’s a good plan, and the first intelligent thing Ice King has done all-episode. I like Ice King aggressively hitting and kicking Finn and Jake while yelling “dead” to convince Scorcher. Convinced, he leaves. I would have liked a sequel episode where Scorcher finds out they are still alive because I really like him and he’s an actually intimidating threat. A sequel episode probably would have paled in comparison to this one though. It ends with Ice King sitting on Finn and Jake, finally being the one grounding them. Who knows how long he kept them like that. He probably got bored in a couple minutes and unfroze them, but it’s a great note to end on.
So, this one’s pretty great and memorable. It’s one of the funniest episodes, if not the funniest, in the series. It’s just nonstop jokes that all hit. Ice King has so many amazing lines (although the comedy isn’t limited to him). Even though I mentioned a lot of the jokes, there’s still plenty more great ones I didn’t (Ice King saying your eyeballs explode when you’re burned alive). There’s new amazing character designs, including an awesome villain. It’s also the first episode entirely from the point of view of a character other than Finn or Jake, and Ice King works wonders in that role.
Grade: A

EPISODE TWO THOUGHTS
“maybe if there’s a swimming challenge, caleb would have taken his shirt off” “WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?! I’M ALREADY SAD!”
I want to say I like emma and bowie’s friendship, but also...I know it’s not completely genuine so like...
with every scene involving ripper, I’m liking him less and less. ugh he combines like all of owen’s bad characteristics, duncan’s bad characteristics, and a hell lot more fart jokes--it gets way old after a while
on a different note, damien’s amazing, he’s so pure
yeah ofc it’s not okay to you, ripper, that’s why you have an IQ of like...1 (sorry, ripper fans, I just rlly don’t like him now)
mk reminds me of a less nerdier scarlett--more so the morally gray scarlett that revealed herself in the control room thingie. she’s got the brains and she’s willing to do anything to get to the top (even if it means putting everyone else down)
....which also gives me slight noah vibes too, but that could just be my noah brainrot--I can’t seem to get over that lmao
“cabbage isn’t a fruit. that’s all I came here to say”
with every second bowie’s on screen, I love him more and more
ohhh I know the context behind that promo pic now--the one with julia and nichelle! I rlly want a friendship involving them or y’know ~lesbian undertones~
“okay losers, hands up if you want axel as your captain” *everyone’s hands go up* yeah ripper! in your freaking face!
YES AXEL YOU KICK HIS FUCKING FACE OFF THAT BOAT *wipes tear* that was the most beautiful thing I’ve seen all week
oh I forgot to mention, I love chef’s new getup!
it’s okay priya, you tried your best--those moves were sick...until you got smacked in the face by a cabbage...
:0 millie being worried abt priya...a potential friendship???
priya def gives courtney vibes--a nicer, less manic courtney vibe, to be exact
zee all curled up and rocking back and forth while cabbages are raining down around him is such a mood lmao
wayne calling raj “rajie” all the time is 🥺
SO THAT IS HOW THEY REVEALED AMPUTEE ZEE
literally everyone’s reactions when they saw zee’s leg ‘ripped off’ was fricking hilarious lmaoo--including chef’s
and zee playing along to bullshit everyone??? gold, I’m dying rn
“it was my favorite leg too” hjkfljkdhffd
my g o d, chase and emma are a m e s s. [ god, I’ve been told by several posts that they get back together??? noooo they should each either find different love interests or like don’t, I don’t care. but don’t get back together. I mean I don’t mind the ‘exes get back together’ trope, but from the way everyone’s acting, it wasn’t well-executed here ]
ugh I know he doesn’t get eliminated this episode but RIPPER SHOULD JUST GO
Yeah I was waiting for Axel’s boot. She seems like a mix of Shawn and Eva--sure, she may have been a bit one-dimensional and may or may not have a short fuse, but I def would have preferred her to stay over Ripper. Gods, that guy is annoying!
sorry Ripper fans, unless that guy redeems himself greatly, I don’t think he’ll ever be in my fav. I don’t dislike him--I don’t think I dislike anyone in this season so far--but he’s not on my like list either

Why I haven't been posting + thoughts on upcoming movies
Okay, so I mostly am gonna still spam reblog about the KOSA bill until we can finally stop it but I want to still use Tumblr for what it was meant to be for all along; to have fun! I just will take a short break on posting cartoons but I'm still active here every night! Tumblr's honestly the only place I feel like I can truly be myself right now...
Okay, let's put the stupid bill aside for the moment and talk about my thoughts on some upcoming movies and shows right now. Disney's really been p*ssing me off lately with their sequels. Like, I feel they're only making sequels of Moana and Inside Out to impress the hardcore Disney fans, because their "new original ideas" failed (like Wish, but it failed because they used A.I to write the story). The Inside Out sequel looks cute from what I seen, but I still have trust issues when it comes to Disney. And before you go blabbing "It's Pixar", let me inform you that they're not the same and Pixar is literally just Disney with a better animation studio. Like, it's literally part of Disney! Like, I feel like I trust the Inside Out sequel a little more than the forced Moana sequel but still... I don't trust them. The worst is the Moana sequel though. I heard they originally planned for it to be a Disney plus show but instead they're making it a sequel on a super low budget and the animation is gonna be done overseas. No joke! I honestly think Disney needs to take a break on making movies for a while and focus on stuff like Kiff. Kiff is the only thing from Disney right now that's keeping me from leaving them all together. And when Kiff ends after season 2, I'm done with them forever! I honestly think they should let Kiff run a little longer than 2 seasons, look how long Kick Buttoski ran (that was a weird show, let's face it). Anyway, that's my thoughts on Disney right now.
I haven't posted my review on Orion and the Dark yet but I think I will soon. Like I said, I been really terrified after hearing about the KOSA bill and will continue to spam reblog until I get justice! Long story short, Orion and the Dark was better than DreamWorks's other recent movies. I haven't seen Kung Fu Panda 4 yet but I'm sure Orion was better. I mostly only like the first two Kung Fu Panda movies. Orion and the Dark was better than Trolls 3, though. I don't think Chicken Run 2 Dawn of the nugget counts as being DreamWorks (the first Chicken Run will always be a DreamWorks movie whether you like it or not) but Orion and the Dark was better! Maybe I can post my review on it soon...
Okay, let's talk about The Amazing Digital Circus now! We all love that, don't we? I hope TADC episode 2 makes more money than Disney on their forced sequels. I'm really excited about episode 2, although I really really don't want to see any of the main cast get abstracted. Like, every character fits in with the show so well and makes it worth watching. Ragatha, Gangle, Pomni, and Kinger are my favorites, but I don't want anyone to get abstracted because they all fit in together perfectly. You have Pomni the new girl, Ragatha the supportive friend and optimistic "peace maker" of the group, Jax the sassy trouble maker, Gangle the emotional one who doesn't stick up for herself, Kinger who's upbeat and crazy and childish, and Zooble who's also kind of sassy and doesn't really care much. Plus, there's Caine and Bubble who are hilarious as well. Like, I just don't want any of the main characters to get abstracted so soon. I'm just way too attached to all of those characters! However, I'm still a huge fan of the show and hoping that episode 2 will make more money than Disney! And if there's anyone here in the comments who's also a TADC fan and wants to see my sketches that I'll never post on tumblr, I'll dm them to you!
PLEASE DON'T IGNORE ME, I DON'T BITE! CHAT WITH ME PLEASE!!!! Just please chat with me in the comments, I'll be nice!

Having listened to "Talkville," "Drama Queens," "Office Ladies," "Welcome To Our Show" and now the new Full House rewatch podcast "How Rude, Tanneritos" I have strong opinions on which cast hosted rewatch podcasts work.
1. I absolutely love the Full House rewatch podcast. Granted, only the first episode is out so far and it wasn't even covering an episode. Next week is the Pilot and this one was just an introduction and they did talk about the opening theme and credits.
2. Maybe coincidentally the podcasts that work have been the ones led by women entirely. My favorites have been Drama Queens, Office Ladies and now How Rude Tanneritos. No diss to the Smallville podcast but I don't feel a whole lot of enthusiasm or chemistry between Tom and Michael with Talkville.
3. I also believe that these types of podcasts are so prevalent that a lot of actors feel like "it's the thing to do" so there's no kind of real thought of which actors should host it. Like for instance, I think that if Tom and Erica had hosted Talkville that would be a lot more fun because they have such chemistry and a rapport. Also Michael Rosenbaum already had a random celebrity interview show prior to Talkville and so now Talkville just feels like an extension of that. It doesn't feel organic or unique.
4. The actors who end up hosting really make the show. With Office Ladies.... Angela and Jenna are truly best friends and you really feel that. You feel the friendship chemistry even in podcast form. Also they are very dedicated to it and are knowledgable. I've never heard a podcast that is quite so chock full information and trivia and previously unknown behind the scenes stories because if they don't know the answer to something then they do a ton of research and ask cast and crew the questions. You can also tell that Jenna and Angela are having so much fun together and they are really proud of The Office.
5. Drama Queens is hosted by Bethany Joy Lenz, Sophia Bush, and Hilarie Burton and it's another situation where you can tell that those three are amazing friends and really love each other. They have a perspective and they are really passionate about anything they are talking about. They are just a fun group of women to hear speak on One Tree Hill or even anything. They do go on some minor tangents but they also try to keep a good structure.
6. With How Rude Tanneritos I can only go off of the first episode but I just found myself entranced by the conversation because Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber are really good friends for real life. Also the reason they wanted to do the podcast seemed more moving and organic. Ever since Bob Saget passed away they've been wanting to revisit those old memories and wanted them recorded in podcast form for the fans, themselves and their loved ones to enjoy forever while they still weren't too far removed and could still remember those times to a certain extent. There were some funny moments and some fun trivia. I think that this is the oldest show to have a rewatch podcast for it which is pretty unique.
7. Welcome To Our Show I haven't listened to for a while but i'm a part of a popular Facebook group for New Girl and most people on there seem to hate it. Honestly the problem I had with it was the lack of structure and how little they talk about the episode they are covering. Also weirdly, I don't feel the chemistry between Zooey, Hannah, and Lamorne. Which is weird cause they have great chemistry in the show itself. I think this show could have been better if it had been Lamorne, Hannah, and Max hosting. Max has a really funny personality and I think it would have added some spice. And I feel like Hannah and Lamorne have great chemistry but honestly Zooey hogs the conversation a bit too much. I have nothing against Zooey, ever since the podcast I feel like a lot of people have come to dislike her. It's not even that she hogs the conversation to talk about the show, it's that she hogs the conversation to talk about herself and her other filmography. But I do feel like some people are overly harsh with her. I just feel like if you don't create a strong structure around the episode and how you're gonna talk about it then that's just bound to happen.
Disclaimer: These are just my opinions. Some of you may love Talkville and Welcome To Our Show and that is great. Also I haven't listened to them in a while so some of this stuff could have improved. If so, please let me know. I could use some inspiration to start them up again.

Micro-Reviews: Stuff I enjoyed with my Apple+ free trial, Part I
Recently had the chance to spend a couple months with Apple’s streaming service, and while I’m not going to keep an ongoing subscription, I did find several shows that I watched and enjoyed in their entirety and would recommend! The ones in this post are all documentary-related, and I think several would be worth having a one-month subscription to watch, at least.
Tumblr media
Prehistoric Planet
Fantastic dinosaur documentary, narrated by David Attenborough, with the more current (presumably) understanding of prehistoric creatures’ lives and appearances--including feathers! I know feathered dinosaurs aren’t new, but I feel like it’s taken a while for feathers to make their way into moving depictions, y’know?
Anyway, it’s very fun, because dinosaurs are very fun. The creatures are photorealistic, and the backgrounds were so realistic I literally couldn’t even guess if they were all CG, or if they used real-life shots and placed the creatures in.
I know I’m not talking much about the content, because I can’t find much to say other than fantastic, absolutely worth watching. It combines a bunch of my favorite things: dinosaurs, BBC documentaries, and David Attenborough narration.
Tumblr media
Fireball: Visitors From Darker Worlds
Another one for the documentary and science lovers. At an hour and a half, I broke it up into multiple sessions. This is about “the cultural, spiritual, and scientific impact of meteorites” and their craters.
Narrated and written by Werner Herzog, whose narration continually delighted me because it’s a bit like a monologue from a conversational partner. We’re introduced to a South Korean antarctic station, and as the camera walks trough the spacious, sunlight rooms, Herzog recounts how nearby, Robert Scott’s men spent the winter in tiny cave.
As we watch people prepare food in a shiny modern kitchen, he recounts how the historical men dreamt of banquets ripped away from their forks; one man who managed to eat in his dream was “rightfully hated” by his comrades. [heavy pause] But we’re not here for lobster and kimchi. Anyway, about the science...
Later, we get a digression about how delighted he is by some footage of someone walking into the background of a camera shot and doing some work on the ground, against the rules of good filmmaking.
Topic to tangent back to topic again. I suspect this is what people experience in conversation with me. The subject matter was interesting, but Herzog’s narration himself was so much fun that when I discovered he had previously created a documentary about people living in Antarctica, I immediately placed a library hold on it.
Tumblr media
Earth at Night in Color
Absolutely fascinating. Using state-of-the-art cameras that are able to film at night not in the grey-and-green-toned night vision we’re used to, but in color that, if you didn’t remember the name of the show, would have you guessing they’re filming in the day, or maybe dusk at most. If you’re the kind of person who likes nature documentaries, you’ll like this. I also enjoyed the “behind the scenes” bits at the end of each episode that show how the crew filmed things, or issues they ran into. I am continually amazed at nature documentary camera people--the episode on Patagonia noted that the crew walked a collective 5000 kilometers.
Also notable is learning via Tom Hiddleston’s narration that apparently the British way of pronouncing puma is pyoo-mah, which led me on a google rabbit trail that ended in a linguist’s blog post from 2006.
Tumblr media
Tiny World
A nature docuseries that spotlights small creatures, narrated by Paul Rudd because he played Ant Man, which is hilarious. (The narration is perfectly fine, but reading the rationale in an interview cracked me up.)
I was continually amazed and astounded and the close-up footage they got of tiny creatures--at least with pumas (*Tom Hiddleston voice* pyoo-mahs) you can film them from a distance! Each episode focused on multiple creatures--more than five each time--so you get a good look at a lot of things. “Tiny” here ranges from ants and other teeny insects to small lizards, shrews, geckos and more.
They did a great job keeping a light, inquisitive tone--it’s not a comedy and you’ll also find yourself fearing for a hummingbird in the middle of a Caribbean hurricane, but my absolute favorite part was the episode with peacock spiders (tiny and cute and colorful), the males of which do a courtship dance. Tiny World made the fantastic decision to play The Macarena to accompany this.

Let's talk about the last HSMTMTS episode.
I LOVED IT. It was HILARIOUS. Carlos' drama was so fun to watch !
And the end. I loved that everyone exploded. Like no more secrets, finally everyone knows everything and hopefully it can only be better.
About the Portwell/Rina drama, honestly I'm just sick of it. At least it wasn't uncomfortable like in the previous episode... Ricky crushing on Gina: not new. Gina being angry at EJ: legit. EJ who doesn't understand why she is angry: also legit.
I don't ask for the moon, just a little of 💫 COMMUNICATION 💫. It not THAT hard. Like Val, I'm on Gina's side, she has every reason to be angry at EJ, I just hope it will be resolved next week! Is he calling Gina's mom at the end of the episode?
About Jet and Maddie: YES YES YES YES. Finally we know what happens between them! And Jet's song was soooo good!! I can't wait to see Maddison coming at CSL, to see the two Maddie be happy together! Plus, it's JoJo Siwa!!
Ashlyn and Val: Wow, I didn't expected Ashlyn to react like this... She definitely feels something for her, but she won't recognize it because she loves Big Red. And honestly, I love Ashlyn and Big Red, they are the best couple of this show, no drama, just chill... I'm totally for Ashlyn to be bisexual and to crush on Val, but I don't want the best couple of the show to break up... And we don't know what Val's sexual orientation is, maybe she's just straight and that's why Maddox stop crushing on her?
I just want to talk quickly about Ricky and Gina: yes there was something, yes he feels something for her, but honestly? I feel like there was so much more potential in his scene with Jet... They could be really interesting together, and like I already said: anything other than Rina/Portwell drama is welcome... Even in his scene with EJ, the slap scene, there could have been something between them, more than just the fight for a girl... 🙄
Kourtney being judgy was very fun, Gina's catchphrase was on point, Val's psychology was impressive, Carlos as the director of this was amazing, Maddox crying was cringe AND hilarious, Jet being the bad boy was very funny, his accent made me laugh!
Carlos' list was the best thing of this episode. It was very funny when he used his marker to validate an action. And RIP Ricky, but except Gina, I think everyone knows it.
I also really liked Kourtney talking to the girls, it was very nice seeing her reassuring them!
The performances were really good, I liked Anna and Kristoff duet, just like I liked the duet between young Elsa and young Anna (+Olaf). But I really think my favorite performance of the episode is Jet's song. I love the music, the lyrics, his voice... So great! I really can't wait to see the next episode!
Oh and we finally saw the scene that was in the trailer with Ricky and Gina! People thought it would be in the dance episode, but no! And I think it's better that it was here!
To end this post let's talk about EJ: as Sven it was ridiculous. But very funny. But what about his name!! His parents really named him Elton John?! And now his dad is surprised that he doesn't want to be a business man?! With a name like this it was obvious that he would love being on stage! And the revelation about 'Rocketman', like Carlos I thought it was something more original than that!
Anyway, great episode this week, I liked it better than last week's!

The Venture Bros. #36: “Tears of a Sea Cow” | July 20, 2008 - 11:30PM | S03E08
The Monarch isn’t allowed to arch Dr. Venture anymore, and this episode is about him defying the bonds of his Guild affiliation and going over to the Venture compound to fuck it up with Hench people 21 and 24. They decide to do this because Dr. Venture and Brock are out of town.
What they don't know is that Hank and Dean are left home alone (or maybe they do! I didn’t do a good enough job listening to all the dialogue!). Hank has his no-goodnik friend Dermot over and we see the first inklings of their band, Shallow Gravy (they haven’t arrived at the name yet, though). They also go camping in the yard and have a run-in with Henchman 21, who tells Hank that he’s an immortal, since he’s personally seen (and at least once caused) his death multiple times. He shoots Hank with what he assumes is a fatal dart, but turns out to be a tranq, causing Hank to believe he actually is a Highlander.
Meanwhile, the Monarch breaks into Dr. Venture’s lab and messes some stuff up, including GUARDO, who we saw in Home Insecurity. The Monarch spitefully makes love to the ailing robot and Dean walks in and catches him. The Monarch psyches him out by pretending that he’s playing some game to get Dean to betray his own good nature by tattling on him. Eventually Dr. Girlfriend gets him out of there before anyone’s the wiser. Those are basically what make up the main story beats of this episode.
I consider this one to be a decent hang, and maybe my favorite of this comparatively lackluster run. Not much in this one stands out to me as amazing or particularly hilarious, but I don’t think anything’s particularly wrong with it, either. This is the same spirit of episodes I really love; one where it’s mostly about the characters interacting and letting moments breathe. The biggest thing this episode is lacking, though, is Dr. Venture and Brock, who only appear in a brief cutaway at their science conference. As mentioned in the commentary, this helped the Venture crew stay under budget, seeing as how the cast consisted of three actors (two of whom were Jackson and Doc).
There’s a lot made of the title of this episode in the commentary and the reason for that is that apparently this ran in some TV guides as “Murder O’Clock”, which they changed when they finished the closing credits of the episode. Doc remarked that he’s bad at titling things, and forever knows this episode as his initial title of “Goes to Compound”. I agree it’s a bad title! It refers to the cold open and nothing else, so I always look at this title and think "that's the one where the Monarch kills the Seacow guy in the cold open" and remember nothing else.
In the cold open, the Monarch half-heartedly arches a good guy named Dr. Dugong, who is half human/half manatee. This is my least favorite part of the episode, and my least favorite joke that The Venture Bros. tells. Because of bureaucratic Guild of Calamitous Intent policy, The Monarch is not allowed to follow his truth bliss of arching Dr. Venture. Since this villain and hero have been jammed together by the guild, we have these super heroes and villains all self-consciously playing a role and acting almost as though as they’re reading from a script.
The point of it is that it’s dispiriting, and it works as a set-up for the rest of the episode. I just find it unfunny and as joyless to watch as it must feel in-universe. There’s almost nowhere you can take that premise and have it be interesting. The scene ends with The Monarch, at the urging of Dr. Mrs. the Monarch, telling him to just pretend his new foe is Dr. Venture. He does, and murders him in a crime of mistaken passion, which lands him in hot water with the guild. This bit winds up weighing on the overall story of the series when the Ventures move to New York and we find out he was the relative of a main antagonist.
Other things worth noting: Dean’s mimeographed Venture news paper is memorable. It’s implied that Henchman 21 wrote to the advice column about his unrequited crush on Dr. Mrs. the Monarch, which first came up in season two during the first Dr. Killinger episode. This gets developed as the series progresses. Dermot also claims to be Brock’s long-lost son to evade a confrontation with 24. This is also the beginning of 21’s insistence that he and 24 are like “main characters” in a TV show, a delusion that winds up getting dashed at the end of the season.
There’s also a reference that caused me to rent and be disappointed by a motion picture: Eddie and the Cruisers. Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives is sitting on my Plex server as we speak and will likely never be watched (or, for mental illness reasons, deleted) as long as I’m alive. The show loves referring to forgotten, lame movies. Sharky’s Machine, aside from one really impressive stunt, is also a bore.

Robot Chicken: Star Wars DVD (July 22, 2008)
When I was at the height of collecting Adult Swim on DVD, I bargained with myself that I would not buy the DVDs for shows that I heavily disliked. But, what I WOULD DO is, is I would rent the DVDs from Netflix and make a DVD-R copy of them. I would also print out a copy of the cover and include it in my collection of Adult Swim DVDs, which I kept together, organized by earliest episode’s air-date for each volume. It was convoluted, but I liked seeing them in rough-chronological order on the shelf, lord help me. I also made custom DVDs and covers for shows that didn’t have official releases. I sometimes get the urge to put it all back that way on my current shelves. I am almost 40 years old.
I guess what I’m saying is, even though I don’t like Robot Chicken, and I especially don’t like Robot Chicken: Star Wars, I still at one point possessed a DVDShrink-authored DVD-R of the DVD’s contents, and marveled at how much extra stuff was on there. There was literally like 5 audio commentary tracks on this fucking thing. I think one of them had George Lucas’ kids on it. Ugh. I hate that I know that. I didn’t look that up, I swear. I just remembered this. There are literally girls who I had crushes on whose names escape me, and I remember who participated in the fifth audio commentary track of the Robot Chicken Star Wars DVD. Goodbye, everyone *kills self*
