Sims - get to know me
Tagged by @igotsnothing thanks so much I absolutely wanted to do this one! Also if ya’ll like occults you better go follow them.
1. What’s your favourite sims death? Either meteor because of HOW dramatic it is, or pufferfish since that’s like, the only way for your own sim to kill another sims (without mods, anyway).
2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Mostly Maxis, but I do have mix elements (like the hairs that aren’t TECHNICALLY alpha but are so detailed they almost look it), especially in my fandom saves because the outfits in those are always alpha.
3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Nah, if I really want a sim to stay the same weight, I lock the weight/gain loss (I do this for my selfsim every time so she’ll STOP LOSING WEIGHT oh my god woman). But if I’m playing with it on, what happens happens.
4. Do you use move objects? I don’t even have to enter this cheat because it’s always ticked on my BBB.
5. Favorite mod? I mean the most practical favorites are MCCC and BBB, and really most of the ;must haves’ the majority of people have, so lemmie pick a lesser seen one – PreferencesPlus by Helaene is a huge game-changer for someone who really dislikes all the missing likes/dislikes in the game.
6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? ...I wanna say Outdoor Retreat? I know, horrible pick, I didn’t know how lacking it was.
7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? Like LIVing
8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? This...is hard, but I’m gonna have to roll with Amie, because she’s evolved beyond being just a sim at this rate – she’s also my FFXIV character, as well as a VtM character. But she absolutely did START as a sim.
9. Have you made a simself? Yes – she’s set loose in EVERY save I have for sake of hilarity – I love passing by her in-game and she’s doing something utterly random. The last time I saw her she was shooting down a goth witch lady flirting with her – thrilled the sexuality update can make her proper asexual now, was so happy to see it without having to put dumb flags on her!
10. What sim traits do you give yourself? Lover, Unflirty, Lazy, Cat Lover, Creative, Foodie.
11. Which is your favorite EA hair color? I’m a pretty big fan of the middle red tone. Or the green, if we’re picking unnatural colors.
12. Favorite EA hair? The RoM updo short locs are SO good. Honorable mention to the EL undercut half-ponytail.
13. Favorite life stage? I’m gonna be boring and say YA, because the game is LITERALLY built around them so you have so, SO many more options.
14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? I do a little bit of everything, but CAS is my specialty. I spend HOURS in there.
15. Are you a CC creator? If some hair/eye recolors and simple tattoos count, then yeah. I really can’t be fussed learning blender beyond pose-making.
16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? My social anxiety stops me from interacting a lot, even if I try my best to talk to people. Like, I know the chances of someone being an asshole to me are very, very slim and that most everyone is chill and laid back like I am – REASONABLY I know I’m being dumb, but also my brain is an asshole.
17. What’s your favorite game? In Sims, I’ve honestly only played 4 (a friend sent me 3 a while ago but I have yet to fire it up). Outside sims? Uh...Okami for single player, Guild Wars 2 for multiplayer.
18. Do you have any sims merch? God I wish.
19. Do you have a YouTube for sims? Hahahah like my internet would let me upload videos.
20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? Lord I have no idea...I’ve been fiddling with different types of sim face styles, but I keep falling back to the same one, really – at least for non-themed saves. And it doesn’t even stand out I’m pretty basic bitch.
21. What’s your Origin ID? Monophony! I mostly make sims, but there’s a few terrible builds there, too.
22. Who’s your favorite CC creator? That is a hard as hell question...but I wanna say @simandy,. For multiple reasons, but primarily because their hairs are just...to die for.
23. How long have you had a simblr? It’s been a year or two, but I took several hiatuses as I got distracted by my MMOs. I have a goldfish attention span.
24. How do you edit your pictures? I have several different reshade presets I’ll alternate between, and a good number of Photoshop actions and/or PSDs, and it’s always some combo of those. Each save has a different reshade/action (or PSD) combination to make them have their own looks (I have a word doc for ref so I know what save uses what combo).
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? Vampires will always be my favorite, but I was shocked by how much I also enjoyed Werewolves – I’m not a werewolf person, really. Non-occult...Growing Together really does add a ton through the whole game.
26. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? I uh...well you see >-> I’M STUPID WITH MY MONEY I HAVE THEM ALL.
I’m only gonna tag a few peeps since I’ve seen most people having done this - @simarcana, @druidberries, @apricote, @lotus030, @salemssimblr if ya’ll wanna do this here’s your excuse! <3 Feel free to ignore if you don’t wanna!

I wouldn't mind that post on VNs!
So I was gonna write three different lists, but then after writing the first part I realized this is very long and takes a while to write and nobody cares anyway so I’ll just post my recommended list only. Well, I mean, you asked, but I doubt you wanted all this lol. Thank you for giving me an excuse to talk about this stuff, though. Hope you enjoy my ramblings!
An explanation for what this list is: Sometimes I know a game isn't perfect in many aspects but I still had a genuinely good time playing it, hence why I'm recommending it. Also I should mention that I could talk for hours about some of these games so if anyone’s curious about more of my thoughts, let me know.
Alright, now that that's out of the way ...
How to Take Off Your Mask / How to Fool a Liar King / How to Sing to Open Your Heart (f/m): This is a trilogy of smaller, single-RO games where you can take one of two routes depending on how you act, and they’re all interconnected where you get to meet and interact with the previous games’ characters in the sequel games. I went into this expecting very little but what I got blew me away with how funny, charming and cute the games were. They don’t take themselves too seriously, at one point an angsty male character monologues deeply about some shit, and another one just slides into frame and starts mocking him. It was so fucking funny, holy shit. Also, a central theme is literally racism against catgirls? Which is monumentally stupid, and probably the games’ main flaw, especially in the final game where it pairs up a catgirl with a catgirl racist, but that one still ends with a literal bisexual queen literally making a man her malewife because she fell in love with his cooking, so like ... It speaks for itself. My favorite game of the three is the second one, where you get to play a punchy fake catgirl and romance a pink-haired prince. And honestly, all the female protags in these games are lovely and a breath of fresh air, and the male characters are fun and not abusive assholes either. There’s full Japanese voice acting, and two out of three female protags are literal catgirls who pepper in “nya” and “mya” into their dialogue, and it’s just treated as a quirk of their catgirl race. I AM NOT KIDDING. Yet somehow it never comes off as cringe, because it doesn’t take it self too seriously. These games are just cozy. That’s the only way I can describe them. Cozy and hilarious. Play them yesterday. Dream Daddy (m/m): Man tumblr did this game dirty. This is just a cute, wholesome daddy dating simulator with gorgeous art. Coming out on Top (m/m): So you know Dream Daddy? What if it was EXTREMELY, MAJORLY NSFW? Though I realize how bad the comparison really is, the only thing these games have in common is that they’re gay dating sims and don’t have an anime art style and oh, yeah, they’re both really well-written. Or at least, extremely funny. COOT (heh) is DDADDS’ horny older cousin, and I first encountered the game on a lesbian letsplayer’s YouTube channel. Yes I watched a lesbian play a gay porn game and it was GOOD. I was there for the cringe and fun and got surprised by how genuinely funny and sometimes actually touching the game was. I can’t give it my universal endorsement because it’s not a game for everyone, as I said, it’s extremely NSFW and the menu theme literally includes the singers screaming “SEX SEX” at the top of their lungs. There’s more to this game than the porn, but there’s just so much porn. It can be censored in the settings but it’s unavoidable. However, I still think it’s worth a look just because of how funny it is and how charming the characters are. If you don’t want to play it yourself, at least watch Anima’s playthrough of it. It hasn’t aged super well in some spots but I still go back to it every now and then. Akash: Path of the Five (f/m): This game markets itself as a more “professionally produced” western dating sim, and that’s accurate in some superficial aspects. The game is pretty poorly written, but it’s absolutely gorgeous and has really good English voice acting by actual professional voice actors. The premise is quite self-indulgent, but I genuinely respect that about it. You play as the only female elemental in a village with only men, and all five of your classmates want a piece of you. It’s clear the writers have put some thought into the lore and worldbuilding of this world, but barely any of it comes through in the actual writing and plot, which is basically just a vehicle for you to get together with your boy of choice. The ROs aren’t very well-developed either, and the plot is the same in every route with only minor variations depending on which guy you pick, up to the point where the protag has the same voice lines in some parts regardless of which guy she’s talking about. It also has one extra half-route that’s so bad and pointless I genuinely wonder why they wasted resources on making it instead of spending a bit more on the writing/adding some variations to the main plot. So why am I recommending this game? Well, it’s pretty, and it sounds nice. This game is a himbo, gorgeous but dumb as rocks. Enjoy it for what it is. I know I did. Get it when it’s on sale, I think if I hadn’t gotten it at half-price I would’ve felt a bit more cranky about it. Also Rocco is bae. Mystic Destinies: Serendipity of Aeons (f/m): Yes that’s the full title, no I don’t know what it means either. You may have noticed how most of the games so far I’ve enjoyed because they don’t take themselves too seriously? Well, this one does. It takes itself SO FUCKING SERIOUSLY. Like, way too seriously. It’s a little embarrassing at points because baby, you’re an urban fantasy dating sim. Calm down. But the game has gorgeous art and 3 out of 5 routes are very good. The last route, the one with your teacher, is both the most problematic yet somehow the one that breaks down the very concept of a dating sim within its own narrative (yes, this shit gets fucking META) and it got so wild at the end that 1) I still listen to the soundtrack for that route and 2) I still remember it to this day despite finishing it ages ago. My favorite route is Shou, he’s a sweetheart, but the mindfuck route is so buckwild that I think the game is worth playing just for that. There’s also a route that’s like a neo-noir mystery? I Do Not Know. This game is many, many things and it does them so sincerely and tries so hard, you can’t help but respect it. It doesn’t always stick the landing but man, just let this thing take your hand and wax poetic at you for a bit. Also get this one at a sale because it’s very expensive to get the full version. I got it for 9 bucks on itch.io and I felt that was a fair enough price, I’d say I wouldn’t have minded paying more for it because there’s a lot of content to enjoy and/or be baffled by. Arcade Spirits: This one’s a bit more weird from what I recall, and I honestly couldn’t tell you much about it, but I remember having a very good time with it and recommending it to a friend when she was going through some tough times and she said it made her feel better. I remember it making me feel better, as well. This is a VN about an arcade and the ROs are wonderfully diverse, with very real human conflicts that get explored in each of their routes. It can get quite existential and heavy at times, but in the end it’s a kindhearted game that I think everyone can enjoy. The main character was also, how you say, mood. It’s a game about getting possessed by a video game and then learning self-love. Ebon Light (f/m): This one’s free/name your own price on itch.io so go play it. It’s a weird plot where you play as a girl who ate an elven relic? And then the elves kidnap you because you’re the relic now. All the ROs are extremely pasty (like, literally white, as in literally the color white) dark-haired elves, except for one, who’s an extremely pasty blond elf, so ... diversity? I honestly don’t know what this game is aside from unique. I used to be a bit put off by the art style but now I think it contributes to the general atmosphere. It’s a weird game that technically doesn’t do anything groundbreaking but still left an impression of “huh. weird” in my mind and I think more people should play it. The ROs are all pretty generic dating sim archetypes but done well, with bonus points to Duliae who’s just a massive creep and I love him, and also Vadeyn who’s the only bitch in this house I respect. The worldbuilding is honestly a bit buckwild and I can’t give enough credit for how unique the elves’ culture is in this game. Definitely give it a go. Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds / Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms (f/m): These two are newer releases of an older Japanese visual novel. I wouldn’t call it a dating sim, it’s ... it’s more of a super depressing historical fantasy epic with some minor romance aspects awkwardly wedged in. It’s seriously some of the heaviest and most grimdark shit I’ve ever played in a VN/otome. I don’t understand why it’s a dating sim, it doesn’t read like one, it’s just historical fantasy based on real world events with characters based on real people, and they kill and they die and they grieve and they suffer. The games are literally about the downfall of the Shinsengumi, there’s no way of avoiding everything going to shit and you get to watch and be in the middle of it all as they struggle to stay alive and relevant in a world that doesn’t need them anymore. And there’s the protag in the middle of it all, being useless and submissive and bland just the way the usual otome protag is. I don’t think these games are necessarily fun, and the romance is certainly a lot more downplayed and deeply problematic just based on the age differences alone with some of the men, but the sheer amount of horror and sadness in these games make them stand out above its peers. It’s like watching a war movie. Since most of the characters are based on real people, they feel like real people instead of the usual otome archetypes, and they are so, SO flawed, it’s interesting to just watch them deal with the shit the world throws at them. It’s an Experience, and if you’re up for it, I think it’s worth the time. Cinderella Phenomenon (f/m): This game is free on Steam so go get it. You play as a really, genuinely shitty princess who gets cursed to be poor and forgotten and she has to help one of the ROs break his fairy tale curse so that she can learn about being a good person herself and return to her normal life. This game doesn’t look like much, but it has a genuinely well-written main character who’s actually at the center of each of the stories and in the overarching plot instead of just being around to make eyes at the real protagonists, aka the love interests. Aside from the main character, my favorite part of this game’s writing is how each route slowly but very smoothly expands upon the overarching intrigue. If you play them in a certain order, you get more and more info revealed to you that you didn’t see in other routes, gaps are filled in as you find out more about what actually happened and why, but every route also stands on its own as a full experience and none is more canon than the rest. There’s also some really heavy emotional parental abuse explored, which I found quite potent at times. The romances themselves were alright, I think Karma and Waltz were my faves.

Bottom Ten Three Houses Characters
I decided after a while that I couldn’t fulfill an anon request to do a top 10 list for the whole series, because it would overlap too much with ones I’ve already done - lord privilege is a thing that exists, and I’ve ranked those before - and because it’s really difficult to compare so many characters (~600 if we’re being thorough) across so many different games.  Instead I decided to go negative with it, although around 2/3rds of these ought to be totally uncontroversial at least in my corner of the fandom. Starting from the one I dislike least:
(Dis)honorable Mention: Anna, for putting in such a lackluster showing that she doesn’t deserve a spot on this list despite technically being in the playable cast. It’s not only the lack of supports, although that hurts, but also how obvious it is that the writers have no new material for her. Anna’s gimmick worked fined when she was an NPC and perhaps for the space of a single game as a playable character, and Fates originated the meta idea of making her paid DLC so you have to shell out real money to use her, but that’s the extent of her here too. As a unit she’s far from spectacular, and her paralogue isn’t even good for much but a ton of (mostly mediocre) drops and a tiny bit of context for that Pallardó guy from non-CF Chapter 13. Here’s a revolutionary idea: for the next original FE it might be good to have Anna back to being only a wacky dimension-hopping NPC shopkeeper.
#10 Constance - It pains me that she’s on this list, more than anyone else by far. I really wanted to like Constance, and at first glance she’s right up my alley as a haughty impoverished aristocrat coping awkwardly with her diminished status. I like the dark flier class she’s built around, and her default personality is an even louder pre-timeskip Ferdinand whom you know I love. However, it’s that “default personality” bit that sours me on her, because she’s got two of them. What could have been an interesting take on Constance’s struggles with identity and self-esteem in the wake of her family’s disgrace is presented in such an over-the-top comedic manner that it’s impossible to take her very seriously. It’s more reminiscent of FE13′s Noire than anything, and at least she has the excuse of a mother who performed dark magic experiments on her and fractured her psyche. Constance also supports Jeritza and yet somehow they do no more than lightly allude to their personality issues which is as much a missed opportunity as you can get with such a terrible character (see below), opting instead to try softening Jeritza with his fondness for roses. Lovely.
#9 Leonie - Fandom exaggerates her Jeralt fixation, although it does pop up at the worst times (see: her Byleth support right after his death). As I’m not very concerned with Byleth’s nonexistent feelings though this placement more comes down to general indifference. Leonie feels completely disconnected from the rest of the Deer, and although she’s a supposed reflection of the house’s more egalitarian bent there’s nothing connecting her to the politics or larger culture of the Alliance until you learn about her student loan debt. She really is best understood as a Jeralt fangirl first and foremost, which is why perhaps the most surprising thing about her is when reality comes knocking in her endings and it turns out she picked up her mentor’s vices as well. Jeralt himself would be even further down this list were he playable, but as he isn’t I’ll have to settle for side-eyeing all of his adoring fans. Which brings me to....
#8 Alois - Remember that dating sim Dream Daddy that people were talking about a few years ago? The one that willfully misunderstands what the term “daddy” means in gay male spaces to write fluffy dad joke-laden romances intended for a presumably not-gay audience? Alois is the spirit of that game personified as an FE character, which is not something I ever would have thought to know that I didn’t want. He’s got some funny lines here and there, but that’s the most you can say about him when otherwise he’s just passable midgame filler (of a unit type each house including the Wolves already has one of) standing in Jeralt’s imitation Greil shadow. I don’t even mind the platonic S support all that much because it’s still only Byleth, but it occurs to me that just about the only thing that would have made Alois memorable would be if his S support was romantic but he remained married to his wife. I can’t think of a time when this series has allowed the player to indulge in adultery, so even if it had been limited to an option for f!Byleth it would have been a fascinating option.
#7 Cyril - This isn’t about his devotion to Rhea, which is fully understandable given his circumstances. Nor is it about his performance as a unit which in my experience at least is actually rather good for a Donnel/Mozu-style villager archetype. No, what gets me is that he’s a self-righteous workaholic which makes for quite the grating personality trait. I understand that he finds meaning in his work and that he’s got some entertaining supports calling other characters to task for their terrible work ethics or ignorance of the lives of commoners (VW should have really dug more into his back-and-forth with Claude), but the lectures on not interrupting him or telling Byleth to get back to work are as tiresome as they are frequent. It’s petty I know, but one can only hope he grows out of it eventually. At least he doesn’t wear a pot on his head....
#6 Mercedes - Like Constance, she’s the type of character I wanted to like from the start. She’s pious pseudo-Catholic clergy, with a quirky thing with ghosts and some quiet lesbianism with her BFF that I can take or leave but that I know some people really enjoy (and also she’s bi-for-Byleth, but no one talks about that). Unfortunately as I touched on when talking about Marianne in my Top 10 characters list, Mercedes’s appealing points are sharply contrasted against her more annoying ones. The breathy voice acting I can mostly get used to, but her backstory is unnecessarily convoluted - three families and two flavors of evil adoptive father - and as is also true of Constance her association with Jeritza drags her down a fair bit. To this day I still have no idea what we’re meant to make of the Lamine siblings’ dynamic, but Mercedes’s eagerness to overlook her brother’s crimes and unrepentant bloodlust so she can coo over what a sweet boy he is deep down say some pretty odd things about her personal moral code. Maybe it was implied all along with the paranormal fascination that she’s not as orthodox as she appears to be, but the dissonance is real especially in CF where she gets a support line with Jeritza that tries to woobify him and affirms how much she loves him...and meanwhile in monastery exploration she’s wringing her hands over how much she hates the idea of fighting Faerghus and the church. There’s no through line here, and as justification for characters siding with Edelgard go this one is pretty flimsy.
#5 Gilbert - Similar to Cyril, I don’t dislike Gilbert for the reasons that most of the fandom does. Yes, he’s a crappy father, but as I’m pretty indifferent to Annette and to father-child bonding in general I can appreciate the fresh spin he places on the archetype of the devoted knight. In short, he’s a knight who wasn’t devoted and ran away from his duty, and his arc in AM is all about making up for his past failures both to his family and to his liege. This is an angle to knighthood FE doesn’t delve into often, and it makes him an explicit foil of Dedue as explored in their supports. The reason that Gilbert is on this list though in fact has more to do with that opposition, because I am painfully aware that had AM not killed off Dedue by default in service of self-insert romance Gilbert would not have had to be scripted as Dedue’s replacement both as a unit and as a retainer figure. It’s not his “fault” of course, insofar as one can ever blame fictional characters for the actions of their writers, but whenever I’m running AM and have to take those randomized supply run quests from Gilbert instead of the route’s actual retainer I’m reminded of how we were robbed of power couple Dimidue (in AM anyway - CF of all routes delivers on this point). Gilbert could have been father of the year to Annette and freely given Byleth his (grand)daddy dick and it still wouldn’t overwrite the fundamental problem that Byleth screwed over all three AM-exclusive characters in different ways. As to that, well...look at #1.
#4 Raphael - It’s hard to describe just how much wasted potential there is to this guy. Along with Ignatz and Leonie he could have illustrated the greater social mobility of the Alliance and the increased opportunities non-nobles enjoy there, but all three are mostly side characters. He’s repeatedly positive in the face of tragedy and remains motivated by his love for his remaining family, but 90% of his dialogue revolves around either eating or training to the point that he’s arguably the closest FE16 comes to gimmick character writing (something almost every FE is guilty of, but that has come under heavy scrutiny in recent years because of how much Awakening and Fates used it). He has a sweet friendship with Ignatz with even a bit of chemistry that sits in good company with the kind of simply affability he has with almost everyone he supports, but they have a no homo ending involving one of the game’s eternally offscreen characters. He supports Dimitri, but the bara content is thin on the ground and their line stands out as easily the least substantial of the house leaders’ cross-house supports. Even as a unit he’s lackluster, in the same repetitive category as Alois with nothing that makes him really stand out from the other axe-and-brawling guys. Highest HP growth in the game...whee. I’ve seen arguments that Raphael’s simplicity is the source of his charm, and while I can sort of see that he feels like he belongs in a game like the GBA or Tellius titles where characters have a much smaller amount of overall content to their name. In a game like Three Houses the sheer torrent of lines about food and training wear thin quickly.
#3 Bernadetta - see #8 here. To sum up, she’s annoying, her sex appeal falls flat with me and is frankly just kind of confusing, it bugs me that a significant portion of the Ferdibert fandom headcanons her as Hubert’s bestie when the man clearly does not do besties, and the most positive thing I can think to say about is that based on her habit of befriending known murderers among other things she might be a bit of a sociopath. That’s not very flattering, but at least it’s somewhat interesting. Oh yeah, and Edelgard setting her on fire at the Gronder rematch is good for a meme although I suppose that isn’t technically attributable to Bernadetta.
#2 Jeritza - Jeritza sucks. Everyone, apart from the small number of fans into Bylitza for some reason, is aware that he sucks. He’s a bloodthirsty serial killer we’re meant to like because he killed his father to protect his sister and also because he likes ice cream and kittens...and because he’s clearly mentally ill in some way and Edelgard is weaponizing his illness for her war which means all the murder is okay, I guess. Jeritza is like FE7 Karel if he was somewhat important to the plot and that instead of a redemption arc between games he got Karla and some other characters swearing that he’s really sweet deep down and also he can romance the male self-insert - yay. I love the line of thinking sometimes espoused in anti circles that M/M Bylitza is the only non-Problematic™ Byleth ship because he’s their only gay romantic S rank partner who’s not one of their students, a loli, or Rhea who is obviously the most evil character in the game. As I’ve mentioned above Jeritza also makes other characters he supports worse by association, although he’s not quite as bad in that regard as #1. Do I even need to bring up the painfully affected voice acting? It’s ironic that the vocal director for the English localization turns in unquestionably the worst performance among the named cast, and I have to assume he picked the role for himself solely because he sounds like an imposing Death Knight and not because his voice is at all suited to the troubled twunk underneath the armor. Just about the only thing that would have salvaged Jeritza for me would be if he and Hubert got to have an epic competition to determine once and for all which of them is more evil. Hubert would wipe the floor with this poser.
#1 Byleth - see here at the bottom. They fail as a self-insert, they fail to be a properly realized character even more than previous Avatars, they damage other characterizations and arcs all over the place, and Three Houses overall would have been vastly improved if they didn’t exist or at least weren’t the PoV character. In that previous post I listed just two reasons why I still prefer Byleth to Robin as an Avatar, one being that their significance to the plot is set up before the game even begins and the other being that their lack of a voice makes f!Byleth a less obtrusive presence when it came time for me to have her S rank all the guys to fill out the support log...not enough to where I could treat her as a self-insert, but any amount helps. I do however have to add a third small bit of praise for Byleth, in that they apparently drive antis up the wall for the most asinine of reasons which is always entertaining to witness. I recall when this game’s school setting was first revealed that everyone in the fandom nodded their heads and made the easy prediction that there would be teacher/student sex because that’s just how FE rolls, but somehow still there’s outrage over it. Even so, Byleth is horrible by every significant parameter, and it’s a shame we’ll only be able to imagine what FE16 would have been like had the developers not felt the need to write the whole thing around an Avatar.

Thank you @murphyhatesme for the tag! These were fun! I loved reading your answers, too!
1. What’s something that you’d drop everything to do? Help a friend. It’s hard to resist a Steinway piano, too. Y’all piano players know what I’m talking about.
2. If you could pick anyone, who would you spend a sleepover with? Probably a fictional character or a historical figure. Lol Steve McGarrett? Naked Sleepover? 😂
3. What’s your favorite mobile game? Chess with Friends and a sort of Tetris game with blocks.
4. Do you have a crush right now? What are they like? I’m with my fiancé and I love him more every day than I thought I could ever love someone. I think I might have a crush on my book characters 😂
5. How do you define your own aesthetic? In business? Mean and unapproachable, because I’m terribly shy. I don’t like being approached. In my off time? Paint covered shorts and rainbow neon tie-dye. If I’m in my house, I don’t give a fuck.
6. What style do you wish you could pull off? The baggy French linen clothing that looks gorgeous on waifish people. Same with white cotton sundresses. I am the opposite of waifish and in a sundress, I just look uncomfortable and sweaty 😂

8. What’s your favorite song at the moment? Imanbeck — Roses remix or Lana Del Rey — Old Money
9. What’s your favorite album at the moment? Just Lana Del Rey in general lol

11. Do you like wearing makeup? I can’t stand it but I have rosacea and I cover it so that people don’t think I’m sick or overheating. I have very rosy cheeks.☺️

19. What’s your favorite part about yourself? My eyes, maybe
20. How many people have you kissed? Probably less than 15
21. Do you prefer movies or shows? I can’t stand theater. I wish I liked it 😫 I loooooove a good movie though!

23. Have you said “I love you” to anyone in the past 24 hours? Yes
24. What’s your favorite book genre? Stealing this from Liz because it seems they are the same ☺️ Romance, paranormal, detective, or horror.
25. What’s something you find overrated? Going to bars. Overpriced alcohol and you need to coordinate a ride home. No thanks!
26. What’s your favorite meme right now? Flashbacks to the horrors of 2020 memes. In fifteen years, we’re gonna see a roll of Toilet Paper next to some Purell and like cry.
27. Do you have a favorite comedian? Nope. Not the biggest comedy fan. Aspies don’t get a lot of jokes.
28. Do you play video games? What’s your favorite? The sims. Omfg THE SIMS. (Sims 4) Especially for the home building and home décor. I download the pottery barn mods and go to fucking town.
29. Do people consider you funny? I hope so. I love laughing with my friends.
30. What features are you attracted to? Guys: Big and Tall and dark hair. Who fucking knows though. Scott Caan is none of those things and he’s fine as hell. Ladies: I prefer tall blondes. For romantic partners, intelligence and sense of humor are far more important. Appearance isn’t worth much when times get tough!
31. Do you prefer more muted colors or bright pastels? I wear dark colors and neutrals. I do love bright colors though.
32. Fairy lights or neon signs? I am actually a huge fan of neon signs. I have always wanted one for my house… Like one of those psychic reading signs with the crystal ball? Totally want one. They’re like a couple hundred bucks though.
33. Do you think your appearance matches your mind? I don’t think so. I have resting Bitch face. Lol. The struggle is real!
34. What skill are you most proud of for having? I can write okay lol
35. Do you have a sweet tooth? Unfortunately yes 😫 Gah. Cinnamon rolls are the ultimate treat.
36. Who inspires you? The authors that never quit. Stephen King for how damn fast he writes…
37. Are you more left brained or right brained? Both. I was an art major, but I am only one semester of science classes away from a bachelors degree in Chemistry. If I go into patent law, I will have to take those classes online from somewhere.
38. What’s your favorite word? According to one of my proof readers, it’s “huffing a sigh.” Lol. I had to switch up that phrase because it really did occur everywhere.

Anyway my personal rating of the Persona Games:
From Most to least favorite
Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
Persona 2 Innocent Sin
Persona 5
Persona 4
Persona 3
Persona
Ratings and Opinions
Persona: The one that started them all, the "what if we focused more on the characters, give them Stands and have their personal growth and development in their battles against demons be the main thrust of the game?"
Its a solid concept that makes Atlus most of its money these days and while its a solid story the gameplay itself leaves much to be desired. Its rough, unpolished and of there's a lot it could have done better. Its very much in the awkward phase of trying to be its own thing away from the mainline or other side series while also really being a SMT game. Maki steals the show hard and is fantastic but no one else really comes close to her character development and exploration.
Persona 2 Innocent Sin: The first of the duology. Originally 1 fuck massive game that was then split into two large games. Refined a lot of the originals ideas while bringing greater focus and care to the entire party's growth and development. The struggle between what is "ideal" and reality ties neatly into the real and preconceived sins and their subsequent punishments and almost every named character reinforces this.
The basis for Social Links would be found here with Tatsuya's actions effecting party development which was tied to the plot. The P2 games are basically a bridge between the the old more heavily SMT influenced Persona and 'modern' Persona. Its gameplay is imo even worse than the originals wannabe Battle Network but thankfully the remake overhauled it massively.
Persona 2 Eternal Punishment: The second half of the duology but its written well enough and explains the important bits so you don't need to play IS at all to get the connections between the two. It shares most of IS strengths and weaknesses but what elevates it for me is the mostly adult cast. Eternal Punishment is unafraid to show the fact that you don't suddenly have all your shit together as an adult, that adults can have many of the same problems as teens as well as their own unique ones imposed upon them because they now have crossed that line called adulthood. In addition to that it not only has that old "we shouldn't have to put the weight of the world on kids" but then actually has them solve said problems.
Its honestly something I want the modern Persona games to try their hand at. An all or mostly adult cast.
Persona 3: The first of the modern Persona games. Under a new writing team they took Tadashi and Kaneko's notes and ideas as well as dating sim elements and brought a greater focus on the school and normal everyday life. Much like the original Persona its very rough, the first third of it is an outright drag which is very ugh after it comes out swinging with its opening. In addition to that I personally didn't connect with most of the party members or social links. Aigis, Ryoji and Junpei however are amazing enough to keep dragging me back. Going from the first three games focus on identity and perception to the ever present march towards death was a brilliant decision. And both Ryoji and Aigis pick up where their predecessors left off. Its also the first one where I'd actually say its starting to become fun gameplay wise even with the AI buffoonery.
Persona 4: Refined P3 really. Thematically it actually flounders somewhat and relies on its fun cast, bright vibes and murder mystery to get by. The "true self" theme is somewhat inconsistently used and becomes so repetitive that the game itself lampshades it. In addition to that it also unties the party social links to the main story. There were some advantages gained from that but ultimately (and P5 would reinforce this) I feel like they lost more than they gained as characters are restricted in how they act later on in the game vs any possible developments in the S.L.
All that said however the entire game is fun, there's very few dud characters or social links, the gameplay is great, and no part really drags on or feels too short.
Persona 5: God of Style. Stole the award for best game ui with ease. From top to bottom Atlus crafted one sexy game. The usage of acid jazz is brilliant and just reinforces this. And even the few bits of rock aren't jarring since its a Persona series staple and it also sounds fucking great.
It has a far stronger grasp on its themes of rebellion, the oppressions of [Japanese] society, and the abuse of power by authority figures over minors. It has duds and farts here and there but those are mainly Akechi and them dialing back on the critique because they were too spicy and fear that it might not have sold as well as they were hoping. Which is a shame.
Gameplay is extremely fun and the added semioptional stealth, and the grandeur of the various palaces (even that stupid fucking space station) really sold the Phantom Thief imagery. And what few bits they didn't take from P4[G] they're readding to the remake as stylish as the rest of the game.
Really if I have to make a complaint its how poorly utilized Haru is. Especially baffling given they literally already did her type of late recruitment character perfectly with Naoto in P4. Its not even hard too! They meet up at the rooftop garden initially ffs.

another 2 questions for bros from UT, US, HT, UF, SFR, Gastertale, MT, UL, and StoryShift Papyrus - 1. What games, board-games, video games, or card games might these skeletons play? 2. What is their favorite foods, or the foods they eat the most?
13: this turned out to be a bit longer than I thought it’d be, whoops. I’ve included a brief description of the games I figured most people wouldn’t of heard about to so you should be able to understand most of them.
SansPulling pranks and being a pain aren’t really games you can tell people you enjoy although if they were that’s what he’d say. Instead he tells you his favourite game is questions only. It’s an improvisation game played between two people were they are only allowed to talk in questions. If someone manages to say something that isn’t a question than they’re out and the other person wins the round. He likes this game because he doesn’t necessarily need to stand up to play and there’s no set up. Of course he’s favourite food is obviously ketchup especially if he can have fries with them.
PapyrusWhy stop at a simple game? Being out of the underground Papyrus has discovered the wonders of escape rooms. Not only are they rooms filled with multiple puzzles but most are intended for more than one player making them the perfect bonding opportunity. Escape rooms are by fair his first choice of games if he could pick but he’s basically willing to try any puzzle based game from the digital game portal to just literal puzzles. Of course his favourite food is spaghetti.
RedReally likes RPG video games, his favourite though is the Persona series. They are a mix of RPG, logical thinking, fighting and strategy.  He enjoys other RPG’s to but this series is the one he keeps coming back to over and over again. He particularly enjoys the aesthetic of 5. Red’s favourite food to go along with his mustard is greasy cheeseburgers.
EdgeLikes games of subtle manipulation and control, his favourite of which is the board game series Munchkin. It’s a game where you have to work together in order to move forward but if you help out the others to much they will pull ahead and win the whole game. You have to figure out what alliances to keep and when to break them in order to best benefit yourself. Edge enjoys Lasagna, there are so many different ways to make it that he finds the whole thing very enjoyable.
BlueOne of his favourite games is Double memory! Of course you could also convince him to just play regular memory but double memory is way funnier in his opinion. Double memory is played with two decks of cards laying face down on a table, the joker cards are removed. With two decks you have to match both the number on the card and the suit where as with regular memory you just have to get the number because it’s played with a single deck. If you get a pair on your turn you get to go again, the person with the most matches at the end wins. Blues favourite food is tacos although he isn’t that great at cooking them he likes the different flavours you can get from a single bite from them.
OrangeLikes shooter video games, his favourite of which is borderlands. Not only is it a fast pace shooter but he really enjoys the style in the game and he adores the humour. First time he picked it up he wasn’t expecting it to be funny but it’s got him a few times and he was hooked. Orange has such a big sweet tooth anything to do with desserts he will love, that’s why he drinks honey. If he had to choose one thing though he’d definitely go with donuts.
LordLikes games that let’s him install fear in others usually done with contraptions he’s made himself. One such game he’s created is a game of chicken involving a finger guillotine. Players put their finger in the respective slot and take turns cutting a string. One of these strings will release sharp blade cutting off the players fingers. If you remove your hand you lose although losing a finger might not be the best option for any winner. Lord likes gyro’s and is convinced that they are the superior food.
MuttHe doesn’t really get to play games too often but if he had to pick one it would the card/ board game codenames. The game is played in teams, 12 tiles with different pictures are placed in front of you, the speaker has a card showing the locations of the different agents. The speaker gives the players a number and a word and the players have to try and connect the words to the pictures on the board. The number stated indicates how many agents could be hidden with that word.  The winners are the first team to find all their agents. Mutt likes it because you have to think about what your team or speaker would connect with each word in order to find the agents. Mutt also has a sweet tooth but prefers things a little bit sour. He could eat a ton of sour gummy worms along with the sour cream he always seems to be eating.
AxeHis memory makes it hard to concentrate on most games so it either has to be something he can leave and come back to or something that’s over pretty quickly. He does enjoy backgammon, he knows were his own pieces need to go and he doesn’t really need to concentrate when its the other players turn. He simple needs to role his dice and move his own pieces according to the numbers shown. He finds it easy to pay attention for these short times when it’s his turn and likes the logic and luck behind the game. Also loves ketchup but he will say that his favourite food is fruit. There wasn’t really a chance to get fresh fruit underground so now he really enjoys it.
CrooksLikes classic puzzles. Like puzzles, puzzles, you know the ones with pieces that fit together to show an image. That! The more pieces the better in his opinion and he finds the 3D ones just as fun. Over the years above ground he’s accumulated quite the collection of different puzzles. Like he has a wall in his house with a bookshelf covered in boxes of puzzles.  His favourite food is also spaghetti, he thinks it tastes best if made with rabbit meat or deer.
GGames aren’t really his thing but he has been known to play Tarot Cards of Fate.  The game is played in 3 rounds using a deck of Tarot cards. The cards are placed face-down on a table and the game is played by flipping them up one by one. Cards are assigned a score equal to their number shown on them i.e. The World being XXI is assigned 21 points. This score is awarded only to one of the players. Cards score also depends on their position when flipped up, if they are facing upwards the player is awarded positive points, if they are reversed they award a negative score. The sole exception to this rule is The Fool which serves as the game’s “Joker”. If The Fool is face up it is an instant-win for the score player, if reversed it is an instant loss regardless of any score. Although G does enjoy drinking Hot Sauce his favourite food is curry, the spicier the better.
GreenHe enjoys doing Sudoku puzzles. It’s something he picked up from his Gaster half and with his Papyrus half already enjoying puzzles there really wasn’t much argument about it. He’s filled in so many of those puzzle books that you’re sure it could fill a library. Green doesn’t really have a favourite food but he will indulge himself with different chocolates every now and then.
RouletteChoice poker is his favourite game. Any gambling he enjoys but he finds choices poker really raises the stakes. It has the same rules with common poker, five of a kind being the strongest hand and high card being the weakest hand. You are allowed to exchange your card only once. (You can exchange one to five cards). This game is also played with the joker and it is considered the strongest card instead of the ace. However, having the strongest hand doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll win, the higher bidder of chips in the betting round is given the choice to select whether the stronger or weaker hand will win that round. This means the bets are usually pretty high which makes for an exciting game. His favourite food is potato cakes alongside tomato sauce, he finds the flavour less sweet than normal ketchup although he’ll drink that two if it’s available.
SniperFavourite game is Duel Clash Poker. The game is played with a special deck, two pairs of players against each other. Each player has eight different cards: numbered card from 1 to 7 and one Joker. The player who plays the stronger card wins. However, if two players use the same card, they will cancel each other and the winner will be the person who played the next highest number. For example, when the chosen cards are two 7s, a 4, and a 2, the person who played 4 is considered the winner. The strongest card in the game is the Joker. Jokers can also cancel each other, though. The pair who manages to win four rounds first wins the game. Snipers favourite food is also pasta but he prefers them with white sauces.
LustAlso likes RPG’s his favourite currently being Skyrim because he has install all the horny mods, the same can be seen on his sims saves. He doesn’t play games to often but if and when he does you better believe his favourite things are the sexual mods that other creators have made for them. Lust favourite food is pizza mainly because he can argue it has veggies on it.
CharmPlays dating sims. Not only does he find them fun but he can use them as a training resource or as a way to test his skills. He doesn’t really have a particular favourite title as he’s basically willing to try any title in the genre and he’s actually pretty good at them. Charms favourite food is actually sushi, he finds it more romantic than pasta for some reason.
PoppyHis favourite game is actually Tetris. The other papyrus personalities don’t tend to enjoy video games but Poppy adores this fast paced puzzle game. A game of skill and quick logical thinking what could be better? You don’t think you’ve ever seen him lose unless he was super distracted. Just like the others have a tendency to though Poppy also really likes pasta. He doesn’t have a specific dish he enjoys more but he always seems to enjoy pasta.

2018 Game of the Year Top Ten List I guess
2018 has been an interminable mire of exhausting miasma and quite frankly I feel like it has been longer than the entire stretch of 2010-2015 combined. I also didn't play many games released this year because, like last year, I'm still poor. I'll see what I can dig up.
10. Sunset Overdrive PC edition: It's a fun open world game by insomniac. The PC Port is actually balls but like. It's a good game with a unique emphasis on how you traverse the game world, where you can grind and bounce on just about anything and indeed to do so is the only way to not get totally chewed up by the hordes of mutants and scavengers and robots you have to fight. There's also some pretty fun and out there weapons to use, like a gun that shoots vinyl records or one that deploys little auto-turrets kept aloft with propellers or one that shoots out a bowling ball at terminal velocity. The base game didn't actually come out this year (I dont... think it did...?) but it was an XBone exclusive so I didn't play it then. It's got some weird problems with narrative tone and some kind of out of the blue racism but the M rated Nickolodeon toy commercial aesthetic is charming in a weird way. I guess.
9. The Forest: I think this got an official release this year? I don't know I can't fucking keep track. Speaking of a game with weird problems with racism, if you can look past the garbage "main quest" and really deeply uncomfortable racial politics where you murder and steal from cannibal mutants, The Forest is probably the best cool treefort building simulator I've ever played. This game has a love affair with lumber and I respect that. Shouldn't you be looking for Timmy, you ask me? Shouldn't you be shutting the fuck up before I put this airplane axe in your skullmeats? Gazebos are nice. I guess.
8. Spyro: reignited trilogy: haven't actually played this yet but let's be real the spyro games were fucking dope back in the day and giving them an HD coat of paint and packaging them all together is a real standup thing for insomniac to do in between slinging webs and making questionable pc ports. Also its like Dark Souls so it has to be good, right? Everything old is new again. I guess.
7. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: haven't played this one either but like. I know that I am a smash-enjoyer. I even liked Brawl. This is the biggest, smashiest one yet and it's also on the switch which means it could also be portable if I decided I never wanted to leave my bed again. I'm probably going to find some money to get it soon. Should be fun. I guess.
6. The Quiet Man: look no game that is THIS hysterical can be all bad alright? Didn't play it. Won't play it. It's awful. But it's so fucking funny like oh my god. Still better than Fallout 76. I guess.
5. Dark Souls Remastered: was this even a good remaster? I don't fucking know. It's Dark Souls. It's better than 90% of released games by default. I miss Solaire of Astora. I guess there's Shadows Die Twice to look forward to. I guess.
4. Subnautica: I wrote a lot about this actually. Subnautica is great. Just fantastic. A wonderful, visually stunning (mostly) (when it works) journey under an alien ocean to unravel an ancient mystery behind a deadly plague. Building seabases is so much fun (when it doesn't hard crash your computer) and the peaceful playstyle you adopt where you really only kill things for food until you can grow your own, much more efficient produce is a welcome change of pace from everything else. Leviathans are scary, especially now that your cyclops is mortal and not indestructible. This game actually Came Out this year so it deserves to be on the spot. I guess.
3. Dragon Ball Fighterz: Honestly I'm hell trash garbage at fighting games that aren't smash but this was a very well put together, visually impressive as all hell fast paced tag fighter where you can have 3 gokus on the same team fight 3 other gokus on the same team. Goku density alone makes this game worth recommending. The eSports scene that has popped up around it is fun too. I guess.
2. Dead Cells: Another game that gets to be on the list by virtue of it actually coming out this year. Wait, was this on last year's list? Let me check. Ok good it wasn't. Early access is a fucking trip. It's fun, stylish, challenging, has a great deal of variety in ways to play, might have erased my entire save because it became obsolete and I'm definitely not bitter, and it has that classic rogue-lite replay value to give you some bang for your buck. There was that one review plagiarism scandal. I guess.
1. Monster Hunter World: If you really want to know what I think of this game my previous piece on it is a good place to start. In addition to everything said there, MHW is just a fun game. The loop is satisfying and, later on, quite challenging. The combat system takes some genuine getting used to and some monsters like Nergigante actually literally cheat but for the most part the game's unique fighting style, spread across several unique weapon types, is rewarding to learn because it demands some effort be put into it and the dividends of fighting well are very cool, like just knocking a flying monster on its ass with a single mighty swing of the hammer. When a game is hard in any capacity games journalists get dollar signs in their eyes and start drooling uncontrollably because they can immediately declare that Farm Sim 2020 is the next Bloodborne because they somehow managed to roll their tractor into a ditch, but MHW is actually quite similar in style and execution to deliberate Souls combat, but the comparison is made in reverse. Dark Souls is quite similar to Monster Hunter, the first game of which was popular and a couple of years old before Demon's Souls was even a twinkle in Miyazaki's eye. There's a lot of parallels between fighting a big ol' rathalos in monhun and going for the toes against a dragon in Dark Souls, but I think MHW actually does that kind of fight better.  There are a lot of modern conveniences present in MHW that are a godsend to newer players, making the game pretty easy to get into if you're willing to try. It was my favorite game of the year that actually came out in 2018. I kind of wanted to put Warframe in this list but it's been out of early access for years now. I guess.
There were a lot of games this year that I wanted to play, but couldn't. I don't think 2018 was a weak year for video games. It wasn't as strong as 2017 but it had some hits, I just couldn't afford to play them all. Maybe next year I'll be able to give a better list. I think that the whole industry is in for some hard choices and major restructuring of how things get done and how they look at the end result. Stocks continue to trend downward - not just for Bethesda but for most mainstream, prominent AAA developers like EA and Take2. Given the well documented volatility of "The Shareholders", I imagine that they would be most displeased by downward trends even if they were still making a modest profit.
The situation has been likened to an economic bubble ripe for bursting. Games as a cultural institution have come a long way since the catastrophic days of Atari's warehouses of unsold copies of E.T., and I don't believe that we're in any danger of a complete collapse of the institution, but the fact absolutely remains That Something's Gotta Give. The increasingly predatory practices that game developers put in place as they pathologically attempt to Make Every Money Ever are intrinsically unsustainable. People are willing to forgive and overlook the now ubiquitous microtransaction if a game is good enough to overlook it, or if it's the game's only real way of actually making money. Warframe's microtransactions, for instance, are reasonably priced, platinum is often heavily discounted as a login bonus, and you can make large amounts of it without ever spending money thanks to the game's surprisingly robust trading economy. So. Yeah. They get a pass. Warframe is also good on its own merits, despite being free to play. They also listen to their community about pricing. Go check out Warframe. It's free. It's free!!! Warframe is my unofficial top spot.
Sorry I got a little bit distracted. So there's only really two instances where people will tolerate microtransactions and lootboxes in the contemporary sense: either a game is good enough and polished enough and the lootboxes are unobtrusive enough that you can just sort of shrug your shoulders and say "it sucks but what are you gonna do" or it genuinely relies on those microtransactions to support itself. When these tenets are violated, people WILL get mad. People raised absolute hell about Battlefront 2's scummy monetization schemes, enough to get EA to back off. Fallout 76 is getting lambasted in no small part due to its utterly overpriced "cosmetic" shop where you pay ten real dollars to get your power armor to look blue. You can buy fullfeatured, critically acclaimed games for half that price and you already dumped $60 on this lemon of a game. Destiny 2 got into hot water for being cagey about how its exp values were calculated and how the previously free and user-friendly shaders became one-time use items you could only get from rolling the dice. The public is getting positively irate about all of this nonsense, and if Fallout 76 (and evidently battlefield V?) is any indication, we are fast approaching a breaking point where shareholder demand for profit will outpace the consumer's ability to provide it and the developer's ability to skinner box it out of us.
Of course Nintendo continues to march on to the beat of its own drum seemingly unaffected by all of this garbage. Not out of any moral superiority, I imagine. More likely it's just a consequence of that company still being in the process of being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Maybe a few years down the line when everyboy else has abandoned microtransactions Nintendo will pick them up, put a cute Mario motif on it, and we'll be back to square one. Time will tell. We're in a volatile time for games and the timebomb keeps ticking. I just hope the explosion isn't too messy. I guess.

From a Spinal Injury to an Independent Design Professional with Lumion
Despite tetraplegia, and use of only one arm, Lumion user Manakit Thawlom is making strides in the professional design world with his renders of modern Thai structures.
While the architecture profession has progressed to be more inclusive and diverse, there are still many barriers to standard CAD software that limit professional opportunities for some people with disabilities.
With the rise of new computer technologies and intuitive 3D architecture software like Lumion, designer Manakit Thawlom is breaking through and helping change that narrative.
Tumblr media
One of Manakit’s favorite projects was the stylish DeChiang in Chiang Mai. Rendered in Lumion 8.
Born in Thailand to a family of four, Manakit (also known online as Eakira) was in a car accident in 1996 and suffered a C4 spinal cord injury where he lost the ability to move three of his four limbs. With the love and support of his family and friends, as well as years of physical therapy, Manakit is now producing rendered images and videos with SketchUp and Lumion, showcasing the beauty of modern Thai design while getting a little creative with his personal projects.
“Lumion is really great for disabled users,” said Manakit. “For instance, people with tetraplegia cannot use the mouse like a normal user, and we can’t press multiple buttons simultaneously. [Lumion’s] user interface is easy to use, especially when using a pen mouse and head mouse (I often use the head mouse).”
In this blog post, we sit down with Manakit to discuss his story and how he’s overcoming the obstacles presented by his injury while creating spectacular renders in Lumion.
Overcoming injury through architecture and design
When a car accident in 1996 severely injured his C4 spine and spinal cord, Manakit found himself paralyzed and unable to use both his legs and an arm. Bedridden and faced with a new, very different life, his family gave him the love and support he needed and he was motivated to learn new skills and adapt to the challenges he faced.
Tumblr media
Manakit, middle, with his mother and little sister.
Over this period, his passion for learning new things never waned. With a donated computer and a Windows 3.1 operating system, he dived into various software such as MS Word, Adobe Photoshop 5.0, Vegas Pro 9 and Joomla. As he continued building up his skills, Manakit started to work by editing pre-wedding photos.
Tumblr media
Later, he would get involved in magazine work as well as architectural 3D compositing and rendering.
Tumblr media
“My world was opened again,” he said. “With the income, my little sister and I have built a home for our parents. The house is specially designed for the physically disabled, and I designed it myself.”
You can watch his full story here:
youtube
“I’m proud and happy to be able to support my family and help people around me. ‘We can be disabled but there’s always great things in return.’”
Navigating the 3D architectural design profession
For some of his early 3D architecture projects, Manakit mentioned using “The Sims” to help him flush out design ideas. This program, he said, was refreshingly user-friendly for a person with his injury.
It was around three years ago, however, that Manakit was asked to create a 3D landscape with pictures and video. At this time, he was using SketchUp to realize the project. A year later, Manakit was rendering images using Lumion 5.
“My first impression was ‘Wow!’ It was so easy to use, easy to insert a model and easy to edit. Nevertheless, the lighting and color in Lumion 5 weren’t impressing clients. Fast forward to Lumion 8, I was hired by Lanna Asset and they were impressed by Lumion 8’s performance so they bought a license and a PC for me to work on. That was how I really got to start using Lumion. It’s way more convenient and faster than any other program for both image and video rendering. I can render an image and then a video without reconfiguring many parameters.”

One of Manakit’s favorite projects was the ‘DeChiang’ project, a housing project in Chiang Mai that serves as a prime example of modern Thai design.

“My workflow usually goes like this. The team I work with will design the building and create a SketchUp model. Next, I edit the materials and group the colors, and use LiveSync for SketchUp to import the model into Lumion. I position the model, composite the trees and landscape, configure the materials and set up the scene and lighting. The last step is to render images and videos (if requested).”
His most challenging project was Paradise Hills, which was a resort located on a hilly slope and surrounded by forests. “The difficulty here was recreating the forest and the landscape to resemble the actual location.”

Manakit’s favorite features in Lumion are ‘LiveSync for SketchUp’ and the ‘Soften Hard Edges,’ while his favorite effects are ‘Sky Light’, ‘Reflections’ and ‘Styles’.

How Lumion Can Empower Designers With Disabilities
Most rendering software is notorious for being out of reach for architects, leaving them with little choice but to outsource or hire a visualization specialist. Lumion, on the other hand, underscores fast rendering with intelligent controls so that every architect can pick it up and start creating beautiful results immediately.
According to Manakit, “I usually talk about Lumion with my disabled friends and my friends that work in the field, and I mention that Lumion is user-friendly, easy to configure and straightforward when arranging models and materials — just like playing The Sims. It’s even more fun when playing around with the lighting and the lighting effects by simply dragging the mouse. It takes only a couple of minutes to edit the lights.”

When it comes to being a designer with tetraplegia, Manakit enjoys how Lumion has shortcuts for many commands. “People with tetraplegia cannot use a mouse like a normal user and cannot press multiple buttons simultaneously,” Manakit said. “The interface is really easy if you are using a pen mouse or a head mouse (I’m using the head mouse). It’s great for disabled users.”
Fast Workflows, Beautiful Results
The idea behind Lumion is this — architects and designers of any background can throw in their 3D model, quickly add materials and context, and tweak a few effects before rendering engaging, beautiful images and videos with jaw-dropping speeds.
While these qualities can help architects and designers to render incredible results themselves, Lumion’s design and intuitive controls also make it the ideal 3D rendering tool for people with disabilities. To learn more about Lumion, visit our What’s New page.

I love the question memes and my fave kind is the kind @pixiedane just tagged me in (thank you!). [Also sidenote: ILU @theawkwardterrier for always tagging me in the tagging memes but JSYK I won’t be doing the latest one because I’m just not really a picture person so I don’t really have a lot of pictures saved and the idea of trying to use whatever weird random stuff I might have saved to describe myself would just not work. But you’re the best and I’ll catch ya on the next one!]
The rules:
Post the rules
Answer the questions given to you by the tagger
Write 11 questions of your own
And tag 11 people
1. What’s the meaning of your name? Does it suit you?
Rosemary doesn’t seem to have a specific meaning, although of course it’s an herb, and Rosemary is for remembrance, which is hilarious given my memory problems. Mary means bitter, so some name meaning sites say the meaning of my name is “bitter rose” which I guess is a nice combo of sweet and sad, which I would not really classify myself as. So, no, the various meanings of my name do not suit me.
The name itself? Does. I love my name, and while most people can’t be bothered with a 3 syllable name in casual conversation, my preference is to be called Rosemary and not Rose. Rose does not feel like me.
2. What’s a movie you never get tired of?
A lot of movies fit under this category, but the movie I have probably seen the most amount of times and can still watch either in full or in chunks and still enjoy every single second of no matter what is Dirty Dancing.
3. Your favourite movie soundtrack?
Are we talking soundtrack as in collection of songs used in the movie and put into an album, or as in score for the movie, or?
Because nothing but nothing beats the Star Wars scores for me. Well, original and prequels and TFA anyway - the last two have diverged quite a bit which has felt odd to me but whatever. [Second place would be the scores for the 70/s80s Superman movies - also John Williams of course]
If collection of songs - then we’re back to Dirty Dancing.
Although if we’re considering soundtracks of musicals, then I’m gonna be reduced to flailing and just naming half a dozen or so, so we’ll just pretend that’s not part of the question.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
Accidental? I pretty much just buy things that I find interesting, and then put things together that seem interesting to me, and then end up with some pretty ... interesting outfits. One of my roommates actually described my look yesterday as “crazy” if that tells you anything.
Think colors that don’t quite match, conflicting patterns, stripey socks, chunky jewelry, and then at times like now at the end of winter when I haven’t shaved my head in awhile - short floppy hair that is sticking up in all directions that I swear I tried to tame but it just doesn’t take.
5. Name a fictional crush.
Spike from Buffy. Also Buffy from Buffy. And put them together? Double crush.
6. What’s your motto?
I don’t really have a motto, per se, but I do have a mantra, which is: love, peace, joy, hope. Those are the qualities I try to embody, embrace, spread, whatever. All four are of equal importance to me.
7. Are you a gamer?
If by gamer, you mean obsessively playing the Sims, then yes. But most people who consider themselves gamers would probably say no.
8. Would you rather spend time on a secluded beach or at a fancy cocktail party?
How about a fancy cocktail party on a secluded beach? Too much sand in the drinks, never mind.
Ah, these are both problematic for me. I don’t do so well with being completely alone, especially without some kind of distraction or diversion. I guess if I had a book with me on the beach, I’d be okay for a little while, but I’d also get uncomfortable super fast if there wasn’t, like, a comfy sofa or something to recline on.
And I also don’t do well with fancy, or come to think of it with cocktails since I can’t drink any more with the meds I have to take.
But, if I had to choose, I’d probably pick the party. I’d be dressed inappropriately (probably something with loud colors and polka dots?), and sitting in the corner mostly people watching, and I’d get overwhelmed and head home early, but still.
9. Recommend a television series.
oohhhoooomygods just ONE?
I’ve rec’d this one many times, but since it just came back for season two last night (I haven’t watched the ep yet - it’s next on my list), I’m gonna recommend Imposters to you all again.
Imposters is a lil show with a small but dedicated fandom on Bravo.
It stars Inbar Lavi (Prison Break, The Last Ship) as a con woman and Rob Heaps (Home Fires, And Then There Were None), Parker Young (Arrow, Suburgatory), and  Marianne Rendón (Mapplethorpe) as three of the people who she has swindled. Additionally, Brian Benben (Private Practice, Dream On), Stephen Bishop (Being Mary Jane), Chastity Dotson (Pitch, Veronica Mars), and Denise Dowd (Secrets and Lies, Beverly Hills 90210) star.
The story of season one is that these three scorned exes find one another and begin a quest to find the woman they all alternately view as their loving spouse and the cruel con who stole everything from them. Along the way, they learn some cons of their own, gain back some of their confidence, and of course discover the power of friendship.
There are many twists and turns along the way which I won’t spoil for anyone who wants to watch season 1 for themselves, but it involves cons within cons within cons and unlikely teammates.
Also - Uma Thurman as a hitwoman.
As the finale of season one had our three scorned exes riding off together into the sunset, I am very excited to see where season two leads us. Seriously, you have to watch this show.
[But if I may very quickly rec some of my other underwatched faves: 12 Monkeys, Colony, Counterpart, Ghosted, Insecure, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, Madam Secretary, People of Earth, Scream, Speechless, Timeless, UnREAL,You’re the Worst - ask me about my underwatched faves plz.]
10. Do you have any phobias?
Boy howdy, do I! I have OCD, which often comes with phobias as part of the anxiety which leads to some of the obsessive compulsions. [FELLOW PHOBES MIGHT WANNA SKIP THIS PART - PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES.]
I have a slight germ phobia which I mostly don’t go deep into because I don’t have the energy to do what I’d need to do to feel better about it so I just make myself not-think about it really hard, but the underlying anxiety is Still There.
This is especially true of what I call “poop germs” - which is anything that has ever been inside of a bathroom ever. This makes, you know, having to use bathrooms very upsetting and problematic for me, so again, I deploy my aggressive pretending it’s not there as much as I can, but poop germs can cause me to break down into tears on a bad day. Fun times!
I’m also an emetophobe, which means I’m terrified of throwing up - a fun little phobia to have when you have constant low-grade nausea which occasionally flares up to higher-grade, lemme tell ya.
Another biggie is infestation of any kind - so any kind of insect or small animal that comes into my home. Like, I am absolutely fine seeing these critters outside where they belong - I might even oooh and aaah. But the second I see one INSIDE - I’m screaming bloody murder and waking up the entire apartment complex.
I’ve worked real hard at being less scared of the harmless single bugs that enter a home, especially the kind that EAT other bugs - so for example I am perfectly fine with spiders (being obsessed with Charlotte’s Web as a kid helps), and even centipedes after the initial screaming over how creepy they look is done. And I’ve gotten where I look insects up on websites that identify bugs and talk about them in positive/scientific ways and have stopped panicking about certain bugs and their larvae now as I can tell which ones are and aren’t actually harmful or prone to infestation. BUT. I’m still prolly gonna scream when I initially see them because eaauughhss.
Those are the main ones, but the fun thing about OCD is that new ones develop all the time if you don’t stay vigilant about letting those obsessive thoughts do their thang, so I try real hard to ignore those news segments and articles about bringing black lights into hotel rooms and about all of the horrible ways people are committing violent crimes these days and other terrifying and/or gross things that might creep their ways into my fear center.
11. What’s your rarest rarepair?
Oh, good question. I don’t tend to have rarepairs because the way I fandom is deep immersion into canon and not necessarily delving into fanon/fanfic. So even my non-canon ships tend to be ones that the canon itself at least played with a little bit or that the fandom-at-large has talked about enough that I start to see it. lol
I’m having trouble even thinking about a ship I have that could be classified as rare? It would probably be something involving Spike because I ship that fool with pretty much everyone he’s ever shared screentime with because he is just so yummy, and because Marsters was just really good about getting his character to bring interesting things out of whatever characters he was interacting with, and because he’s clearly so omnisexual that he just oozes chemistry with everyone he meets, but like. I’m also definitely not the only one who sees all that about him and also is shipping him left right and center. So. I’ll just toss out Spike/Harmony because I’ve never heard of anyone else who actually liked them together ha!
Phew! That was fun. I hope all of you all who I end up tagging have as much fun with my questions (and if not, feel free to use some of pixie’s).
My questions:
What is your #mood rn?
Tell me the sweetest childhood memory you can think of.
Favorite mythological/fantastical animal/creature.
What is your favorite mode of storytelling - for example, books, movies, TV shows, graphic novels, video games, etc. - and why do you think that’s your fave form?
Star Trek, Star Wars, or Starlord? (this is not a serious question and you may feel free to expound upon all three if you wish)
Favorite type of geographical location to visit, and is it different from where you prefer to live?
Name a character that you love, but who you would probably hate in real life.
Reboots, renewals, and revivals. Are they ruining your childhood or do you love ‘em?
Tell me about your favorite cookie (or other sweet if you don’t care for cookies).
If there is one thing people could just atomatically know about you upon meeting you that would make socializing with you better or easier, what would it be?
A lot of stories based on comics posit the theory that eventually humanity will evolve into at least some humans developing super powers. Suppose this started happening today - what would the results be, do you think?
Tagging:
(and of course, please consider yourself tagged if you wanna do this - I’d tag all of you if I could but I try and just pick folks I think enjoy doing these. if I’m ever wrong - please feel free and ignore the tag. additionally - please remember to tag ME so I can see your responses! also, feel free to re-tag me in this one since the questions differ and you all know how much I love to talk about myself.)

So, I recently got Magician’s Quest: Mysterious Times for the DS and here’s what I think of it.
It's been about almost a week since I had gotten Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times. That’s on November 5, 2017, so not too long ago. Before I get to “reviewing” this game, I just have this to say:
I am in love with this game. I wish I had known about this game when it was first released back in 2009, but I'm happy to have come across it now in 2017. I haven't picked up my 3DS in a long time and this game has gotten me hooked. It feels like deja vu all over again when I got Animal Crossing for the Game Cube back in 2004. I can gush on about this game, but I want to tell you guys about my week experience with the game. I'll be telling you guys about the game play, graphics, sounds and both good and bad things, as well as some mixed opinions.
First off, the game play:
Did you play Animal Crossing? If you did, this game will feel very familiar to you. The most common comparison would be as if Animal Crossing allowed you to attend Hogwarts! However, if you didn't play Animal Crossing, let me give you the run down. This game is technically a life sim game where you live in a town full of different sorts of people while also attending a magic school. Of course, you don't have to go to school, but it's recommended that you do because there are some game play elements that you will need to know if you want to progress through the game. Also, the game runs by the actual real time clock on your DS or 3DS. So, if it's 5 PM in real life, it will be 5 PM in the game. Pretty much the same concept as Animal Crossing.
When you first start off you will be greeted by the school's principle where he will ask you your name, when you were born, what your gender is and what school (or town) you are planning on going to. Once you are finished, you will be taken to the dorm where you are met with the dorm master. He will show you where your room is and will give you a piece of furniture to put in your room, which is nice. A lot better than a certain raccoon that I know...
Once you finish exploring the dormitories, the dorm master will then escort you to the school itself. There, you will meet with the school principle again who will then take you to the classroom where he will introduce you to your fellow classmates (or villagers if you want to call them that) and give you your first set of magical equipment. Here, you can either mingle with your classmates and get to know them, or you can go out of the class room and head back to the dorms where the dorm master is waiting for you. If you choose to go back to the dorms (which you don't have too, but recommended if you do) he will give you funds for your scholarship. He's certainly a really nice guy! First he gives you a room to stay in, a piece of furniture to store your stuff, escorts you to your school and gives you money?! Tom Nook can suck big one! This guy is my new favorite person in the world! He doesn't extort you like that over weight raccoon!
At this point in time, you are free to do whatever you feel like. You can explore the whole town, talk to your classmates, go to class, etc. However, before anything can really get started, it's recommended that you go through the “tutorial”, which will teach you how to use your wand to transform it into certain tools, the basics of magic linguistics and so on. You can talk to which ever teacher who is standing in front of the class room door to begin your lessons. Each teacher will teach different subjects and will award you spells at the end of each lesson, as well as a stamp on your attendance records. There is one teacher that will now give you spells, but will teach you how to speak in magical linguistics. I would assume was also used in online game play (RIP Nintendo WFC...), but certain quests will require you to understand how to use them effectively.
Upon completing the “tutorial”, the principle will summon you and will give you a key to activate an event called “Mystery Time.” Mystery Time is an event that will change the entire town to a different color, no matter the time of day, and this is where things can get interesting. Upon activating it, you will see a silhouette of a certain creature before being transported outside of your dorm. During Mystery Time, you will notice some things have changed and there are new bugs and fish for you to catch. Which then, you can turn into items to sell to make some money. During this time, you can also take extracurricular activities which can range from finding a certain items or to evening dueling your fellow classmates in a magic duel. Mystery Time lasts for a while, so take advantage of it while it's still active. During Mystery Time, however, all classes are dismissed until it ends.
Once Mystery Time has ended, this is where you can actually start your “missions”. Remember that silhouette when you activated Mystery Time? Well, your classmates will be talking about it and it will be up to you to figure out how to solve that mystery. Some are easy while others you may have to do a bit of thinking on how to complete them. It's surprisingly deep in a way. Once you do solve the mystery, things go back to normal like they should until the next mystery. There is one time where you cannot activate Mystery Time, and that is if something is knocking on the door to the other side when you have the key to activate it. I haven't had this happen yet, but I believe it connects with the real world clock which could indicate a holiday event. There are other events that may happen such as getting an invitation to fight a pirate on the island where your school is. It's really neat seeing that anything can happen on a weekly basis.
There's also the school's bulletin board which will tell you of up coming events as well as who is in town and banters between students. It's a good idea to check it out throughout the day since new info is always added. And speaking of your classmates, you can build deep relations with your classmates and there are a lot of diversity among them. In Animal Crossing, all of your neighbors were... animals. In this game, your classmates aren't only just animals, but they can be robots, aliens, humanoid plants and foods and even cell phones. I mean, sure, you can befriend a phone. It seems fitting in this time where people are practically glued to their phones.
What sets the relations apart from this and Animal Crossing, you can actually pursue either a platonic relationship or a romantic relationship. Of course, this is just a little something extra, but it's nice to have deeper relations with your fellow classmates. This on its own keeps me coming back just to see what they have to say. Depending on certain circumstances, rumors about you and other students can spread like wild fire! If you are getting really friendly with one of your classmates, the entire school will know. If you are playing tricks on your classmates, the entire school will know. Even if you are just minding your own business and not doing anything bad, you guessed it, the entire school will know. So, yeah, just lock yourself in your dorm. Nah, don't do that, they will know anyway! Joking aside, I like this feature and it makes things interesting when you talk to your classmates the next day.
Lastly, at the end of every week, you are graded on certain factors that you have done during your play time of that week. If you manage to “make good grades” you will rank up and earn a new hat and a wand. I feel it makes it worth while on what you do for your town and how you interact with your classmates. This also falls on how many mysteries you were able to solve within the week. However, if you are mean to your classmates, leave litter in your town and just slack off, your rank won't go up. So, play nice, keep the town looking clean and go solve any mysteries you can!
Alright, onto the graphics:
For a DS game from 2009, it looks pretty good. I like the style it has going for it. Of course, going back to the DS days is hard enough, especially being spoiled by today's graphics from the 3DS. But for the most part, everything looks alright. The character models are cute and nice to look at. The scenery is also nice and colorful. Nothing stands out all that much that seems jarring. There is this one texture in the shopping area that looks weird when you move in and out of it, but that's pretty much the only thing that stands out. I really can't say much of anything else about the graphics other than they look good, if not, look better than Wild World.
Time for the sound:
Oh boy, the sound. The music in this game is really nice and relaxing. You may notice some familiar tunes from the game as that it does play a lot of classical music during certain events. One thing I do have to say: you better like the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy during Mystery Time, because that is all you hear. However, there are some relaxing tunes that I find myself zoning out on, as well as jamming to some. If you get the chance to look up the OST on YouTube, you should! Of course, there aren't any hourly tunes like in Animal Crossing, but instead plays music based on the time of day. There's different music for the morning, afternoon, evening, night and late night. And depending on the weather, different music will play. I personally like the cloudy evening music. It does put me in a mellow mood to the point of making perfect music to fall asleep to. Overall, the music is really nice and calming.
There are music CDs that you can buy in the game that are nice to listen to. Each CD has a different genre and style that I find are really good. My personal favorites are Night Garage, Ragin' Rivers and X-Ray Invasion. I guess you can compare these to K.K. Slider's air checks, but instead of getting one piece of music every Saturday, you can get up to four new CDs (if you don't own them already) every day.
The actual game sounds themselves are okay. They are expected in every game. Also, everyone in your town and school speaks in what could be described as animalese, which is the default voice setting in Animal Crossing. However, each student (well, a majority of them anyway) has their own “voice”, so no two classmate will have the same voice. I like this because it gives me the general idea of how each student should sound like. There are some that sound a little off, but I like the varied “voices” either way.
Now onto the good stuff I liked about this game:
I think what made me fall in love with this game was the fact that you can have jam sessions with your classmates. If you have an instrument and you have learned a piece of music (you can do that by standing around in the towns bar and listen to the music there, or from a CD you bought) you can whip out the instrument of your choice and start playing music. It's all automated, though, so you have very little interaction with your selected instrument. Depending which instrument you use will determine what part of the song you play. So, if you're playing the drums, you're playing the beat of the song. If you have an electric guitar, you play the bass. If you have the flute, you play the melody and so on. Each instrument has a different role. If one of your classmates see you playing a song, they may come and join you! Each classmate has their own instrument they like playing, so it's really fun to see who will come and join you and what instrument they brought them with.
I still like the fact that you can have a romantic relationship with a classmate of your choosing. It sort of makes it a lot better to interact with them and have cute banters with them. Of course, you can have a strong friendship with them as well and take them to go fishing, catching bugs or have a drink at the bar.
I also feel that the touch screen mechanics (because that's what the DS was all about back in the day) feels a lot better than what Wild Worlds did. Of course, you aren't forced to use it, but it makes planting flowers, trees and bushes a lot easier since you can drag and drop any item you want and your character will walk to that area and put it there, versus walking there and just selecting “drop” like you had to in Wild World. Of course, you aren't forced to use the stylus, but it makes inventory management easier.
I love the music in this game. A lot of it is calming and some had made me feel really nostalgic. The CDs you can get from the store is an awesome bonus since you don't have to wait every Saturday to attend a concert to get an air check.
Your player avatar has more facial expressions that what Animal Crossing's player avatar does. Sure, you don't get to learn emotes from an axolotl, but during certain situations your character can be pretty expressive, which is really great!
Did I mention the diversity of the students? There are quite a few students that are not only animals, but of different kinds of beings! I won't go more into that since I have already mentioned it, but just wanted to express that I like that all of the students are different.
You are able to buy an unlimited amounts of berry bushes (this games equivalent to turnips) and plant them anywhere in town and grow berries. There are six different berries you can grow and they can fetch a nice price when Cat Sith is in town. And since there are six different types of berries to grow and sell, you can make bank! Unlike turnips, you can store berries in your dresser where they will stay fresh forever, so you don't need to worry about them rotting if the prices aren't right when you plan on selling berries. Cat Sith comes on every day that is divisible by 3. So, if it's February 3, he will also come on the February 6, February 9, and well, you get the idea.
Like to keep your town looking good? Well, new flowers are planted everyday in certain key locations. So, you aren't forced to get flowers from the flower shop to make the town look nice. Well, so as long as those spots where flowers do grow aren't already covered. And you can sell them if you need a bit of pocket change. Oh! Also, flowers can have different colors if they are planted in certain locations in town and if you know a certain incantation, you can turn those different colored flowers into special flowers. So, in retrospect, breeding flowers and getting different colors of certain flowers is simplified!
The room that your dorm master gives you is huge! So, you have plenty of space for new furniture and customizing it to the way you like. And you want to know the best part about that is? IT'S FREAKIN' FREE!! No greedy raccoon will be knocking on your door and hounding you to pay back a debt that you didn't want in the first place! Again, suck a fat one, Nook!
Lastly, the mysteries. This is essentially the game's “story” mode. Each mystery will be different and there's quite a lot of them from what I can tell. Some will require you to know certain spells while others are basically fetch quests. Some mysteries will also test your knowledge of how well you know your magical linguistics, since most of the mysteries will require you to read and speak in linguistics. I really like this since it gives me a reason to keep playing and to see what the next mystery will be.
Okay, onto the things I don't like about this game:
Do you like waiting? No? Well, guess what? That's what you will be doing. ...A lot. I didn't find this out until I had to look them up, but you are limited to a max of 3 classes every week. Of course, there are some other classes you can do that will teach you how to use your magical linguistics, but if you want to learn a new spell or incantation, you will have to wait until the next week to get a new spell to play with. Sure, you can cast magic that you haven't learned, but you will have to memorize that spell every time you want to use it, as opposed to pulling up your player's info where your new magic spell is listed there for quick reference.
The game's camera, especially while exploring within the town is a bit jarring... It feels that it's too zoomed in onto your player character, unlike Animal Crossing with the bird's eye/overhead view. Not to mention, if your player runs behind any buildings or trees, you can see them. This may not bother some, but it can be annoying if you are either treasure hunting or trying to find a classmate to talk to.
Speaking of classmates, man do they like to spread rumors a lot. Not that I don't mind it, but some of the rumors are... questionable? From what I gather, the rumors are randomly generated and may come off as not making any sense. There also seems to be some translation errors when it was being localized. I don't know if it was because they were having trouble translating the game, or they were being rushed to get it out and left some errors in the dialogue. I just find it weird when one of my classmates runs up to me and tells me a rumor that was thrown into Google Translate and spat out. While some are intelligible, others elude me to the point of just responding back saying that the rumor was true.
Some mysteries may be too difficult to figure out without the aid of a guide or FaQ. On the flip side, there are some mysteries that are too easy. The first mystery took me too long to figure out and had to consult a guide to figure out how to do it. Of course, your classmates will give you some ideas and suggestions on how to complete the mysteries, but more times than naught, they will often leave out key information on how to complete it. You are given a week to complete it, though so there is plenty of time to finish them. However, from what I gather, if you don't complete it you will miss your chance of completing it and you won't get another Mystery Key (which is needed to do the mysteries) until the next week. So, again, more waiting!
“I'm getting tired of waiting! I'll just change the system's clock!” Sure, you can do that, but the game will punish you for it. Like in the vain of Animal Crossing, time traveling will cause your town to decay. Which means that if you have a nice looking town, say good-bye to your flowers, berry bushes and trees. That's right; trees can die! Which is a perfect segue to the next part: you will have to wait for trees to die if you want to get rid of them. The game doesn't give you an axe to use to get rid of trees that may be in the way. Also, mushrooms will grow in your room, which you need to throw away because the shop keeper will not buy them. Well, no, the shop keeper will buy them, but they will be dirt cheap. Students may move out (or, in this case, transfer to a different school) and the love of your life may find a new person to be with. If that's something that will bother you... So, yeah, don't time travel, even if things are going slow.
Want to have music playing in your room the entire time? Well, too bad! If you wanted to have a CD you bought from the store to keep continuously playing, you will sadden to hear that you will need to turn on your music player every time you want to listen to your CDs in your room. It's nothing too major, but it's a bit of an annoyance to walk into a completely quite room...
Getting money in this game is extremely tedious. Every bug and fish you catch must be taken to the tower (this game's museum) to be converted into items that can be sold. While this is a great way of getting items without having to dig around for them, but it becomes really tiresome of having to run all the way to the shop keep (and yes, it is quite the jog) and then back to where you need to catch more bugs and fish. Speaking of selling, once you guy furniture or clothing, you're stuck with them until Cat Sith comes to town. He is the only NPC that will buy them off of you. So, if there's a piece of furniture or clothing you no longer wait, you gotta wait until he's in town.
And lastly, everything in all of the shops are too expensive! You will find yourself being constantly broke if you want to buy new stuff for your room. Even instruments cost a fortune! It makes saving really difficult since there's usually something that you might want to buy. There is a bank, but from what I've read, it's glitched out. I haven't personally put anything in the banks, but I don't want to chance it an not being able to retrieve my money or any items that I put in there. Also, if you are a person that likes to collect things, you will be hard pressed to learn that there is no catalog in the game. That means, if you got ride of a certain item, you cannot reorder it and you have to wait until it's in stock again. That can be a real pain since you don't know how long it may be until it becomes available for purchase...
Lastly, my mixed feelings on the game as a whole:
While familiar, the game is no Animal Crossing. I keep telling myself that every time I play the game. Even while starting up for the first time, I decided to reset the game to see if I could get a different town layout. Turns out, the town is predetermined and the only thing that is randomized is the classmates you will get. This may not sit well some with some people, but I soon came to accept the fact that if there was a classmate that I didn't like, or didn't have, I could reset it without getting a weird town layout. Speaking of which, there isn't a whole lot of customizing in this game... You can, of course, customize your school outfit and the school bell, but that's it.
There are some instances where the students and NPCs were to slide across the ground without any walking animations. This is definitely an immersion breaker for me. Also, some students are actual “true magicians” because you turn your back for a second, they are on the other side of the map in the blink of an eye! Not to mention, if you see a student outside of where you are and you go inside a building and come out, they always end up coming out of a random building (usually their house) and greet you. It's weird... Why not stay outside?
While I do like the music, I often get thrown for a loop when it comes to the time of day. Every time a new hour strikes I keep thinking that a new hourly tune will play. The day is split up into morning, afternoon, evening, night and late night. So, a total of 5 different music tracks will be played throughout the day, which doesn't seem like a whole lot to some...
Mystery Time takes way too long to end... As soon as you start it, it will last all day until 4 AM. That means that class will be out for that day and if you don't like the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy you tempted to shift the clock a bit to end it. Of course, you can always end it prematurely by making a new character, but some people may not be bothered to even doing that. Messing with the system's clock is another way to effectively end it, but that will cause extracurricular activities to be halted for the next 24 hours... With shops closing at midnight, I feel that Mystery Time should end at midnight.
And lastly, let's talk about a little mole that I'm sure everyone is familiar with. No, he's not in this game, but you will soon appreciate him after what I am about to tell you next. If you turn the game off without saving your dorm master will come to yell at you. Seems tame right? Oh... But here's where it gets good! What if you were to tempt him by turning the game off without saving multiple times? More tongue lashing and verbal abuse? No... You will be forced to clean the school's bathrooms! That's right! The game outright punishes save scummers by forcing them to clean the the schools bathrooms! And if you keep doing this, the task gets longer and harder and soon, not only will you have to clean the bathrooms, but the teacher's lounge as well! And that will take EVEN longer to do! But you want to know what the kicker is? The principle will award the player a title for being “forgetful”... I had to laugh at that. And during the whole time while you're cleaning, the dorm master will constantly yell at you! If you thought that Resetti was bad, he's a puppy dog compared to your dorm master! And to me, that's hilarious. He gave you everything you needed to start your wizard training and by god, if you force his hand, he will make you clean!
Those are my initial thoughts of the game. I LOVE this game! Everything about this game is charming and it brings me back to a time where things were much simpler. To me, if the game had gotten a lot more recognition, I feel that it could go toe-to-toe with Animal Crossing. However, upon release, it had gotten some rough reviews and I feel that people merely passed this off as an Animal Crossing clone or rip off. And to me, that's not fair. I love Animal Crossing, but I also love this. If I had to choose between the two if I had known about it way back in 2009, I would have chosen this one for sure. There's just so much to do and it has kept me coming back every day for a week. Sure, there will be a day where I will have to put it down and forget about it because games do get boring after a while. However, from what I have experienced, I'm glad I was given the chance to find out about this game and try it out for myself.
There is a 3DS version of this game, as well. Sadly, upon doing more research about the game, the 3DS version of this game (which is the fourth game in the series) isn't doing so well in Japan. Which would explain why we haven't gotten a localized version of it yet... I'm not entirely sure why, but my guess may have to do with the timing. The game was released around the same time that Animal Crossing New Leaf was released, so that could be it. I wouldn't hold my breath on it, though, since the 3DS is nearing the end of it's life. But, if you have a Japanese 3DS, you can still get it and give it a shot.
Overall, I highly recommend getting this game for the DS, at least! You can play it on either the DS or 3DS since it is backwards compatible! It is on the expensive side, though... I was lucky enough to get mine for about 50 some-odd dollars. If you are looking to get the cartridge itself, you may be lucky enough to find it for about $60. But, if you are looking for the complete package of the game, I hope you are willing to spend more than $200 for it alone. The highest I've seen which had everything plus the special pre-order stylus was about $400. So, if you got the money to spare, you can try your luck.
This game needs more love... If you happen to come across it and you like playing Animal Crossing or life sim type games, don't pass this up!

otome / dating sims tag
Thanks for the tag, @otomebubble :)
1) What is your favorite otome game?
Mystic Messenger just because it is undeniably one of the best otome games ever made. It’s got beautiful art, amazing characters, awesome voice actors, magical music, and to top it all off it has a unique play style unlike any other otome game.
Other favorites: Code: Realize, Collar x Malice, Ikemen Sengoku
2) What is your least favorite?
Out of all the otome games I have played so far (which is by no means a lot) I’d have to say Norn9. Just didn’t get it. Wasn’t right for me. Story didn’t make sense to me. I did like some of the characters but…¯\_(ツ)_/¯
3) What is your favorite route?
Woahhh.
Hakuoki – Harada Sanosuke
Collar x Malice – Kageyuki Shiraishi
Code: Realize – Impey Barbicane & Saint Germain
Lust in Terror Manor: Rui Akizuki
SLBP: Takeda Shingen
Mystic Messenger – Zen & 707 (And probably Ray’s very soon)
4) What is your least favorite route?
Minami Kira from SSS. I really thought that I would love Minami’s route before I played it. I usually love the snarky-teasy kind of characters. But when he almost lets you get raped right in front of him, that was it for me. Holy crap. That made the rest of the route completely unbelievable. Only an MC who was out of her mind would want to stay with that guy. -__-
5) How much money have you spent on otome games?
Oh lawd! Considering I have only been playing otome games for about 7 months now, I am sure that the amount of money I have spent is too much. Since I always buy the premium options, and go hard on events in Ikemen Sengoku, I have honestly probably spent 1k. But hey, I am an independent woman with a job so I do what I want.
6) How much otome have you played?
16 Mobile Titles
5 PC Titles
6 PS Vita Titles
7) Do you prefer male or female love interests?
Male, but if the story is good, I will play whatever.
8) If you could make one LI in real life so you could date them, which would you pick and why
I don’t think I expected even myself to say this, but if I were to pick just one to actually date, I think I’d have to go with Impey Barbicane from Code: Realize. Impey is often kinda just thought about as the comedic relief LI, but I love him. He’s got amazing hair, he’s a genius inventor, he’s a chef, he’s a vampire that does kick other people’s asses when necessary? Haha. I believe that a life with Impey would be one of never ending fun, laughter, and delicious food. Plus we’re going to the moon!
(Plus plus, Impey does not canonically have a terminal disease… I still love you Shingen!! You are number 1 in my heart >_<)
9) Have you ever cried while playing an otome? If so, whose route(s) made you cry?
Boy have I ever! I am always instantly attracted to the saddest characters right from the start, even though I know nothing about them! In order of most tears shed to least:
1 – Kageyuki Shiraishi from Collar x Malice (this one still gets my eyes moist if I think about it. They did my boy so dirty.)
2 – Ray’s death – V Route Mystic Messenger (I am sure Ray’s own route will make this list. I’m scared. That phone call right before the explosion fuckin destroyed me)
3 – Takeda Shingen Divine Ending from SLBP (because WTF how does an ending get any worse?! Doesn’t rank higher only bc his Fates end isn’t terrible)
4 – Saint Germain from Code: Realize (I didn’t know what to expect from Saint, but it wasn’t THAT. The scene with him begging on the ground make me choke on my own tears)
10) Favorite LIs based on personality?
Oh jeez. I typically like characters that are confident daddies, smart sneaky snakes, or cold to MC.
Takeda Shingen and Tokugawa Ieyasu – SLBP (Shingen is love, Shingen is life)
Ray/Saeran/Unknown, Zen, 707 – MysMe
Akechi Mitsuhide and Date Masamune - IkeSen (Mitsuhide doesn’t even have a route and he is all over this list)
Impey Barbicane - C:R
Kageyuki Shiraishi – CxM
Rui Akizuki – LiTM
Harada Sanosuke, Okita Souji, Sakamoto Ryouma - Hakuoki
11) Favorite LIs based on visual design?
#1!!!! TAKEDA SHINGEN – SLBP (That ponytail…)
Harada Sanosuke – Hakuoki (Especially his traditional attire because that’s when he still has his PONYTAIL)
Kageyuki Shiraishi – Collar x Malice (he COULD have a ponytail. He does have a braid in some official art. Plus he has that wolfish grin thing going on.)
Akechi Mitsuhide – Ikemen Sengoku (Again, wolfish grin)
12) What is your favorite plot from an otome game?
Well apparently I love it when characters have terminal illnesses or tragically horrible endings because those characters are always who I am immediately drawn to! But anyway! I can get behind any plot that is well written! One of my favorites has definitely been Lust in Terror Manor since it has more of a horror genre since it takes place during a murder/survival game situation.
13) Do you name the MC your real name or a nickname?
I go by my real name (Holly) when it doesn’t seem too far-fetched that someone named Holly could be in the story. Whenever I play games where all the other characters have Japanese names, I use the name Yuna. (Shout out to FFX)
14) What kind of love interests would you like to see in future otomes?
More ACTUALLY sadistic characters? Hahaha. SLBP Ieyasu and Rui Akizuki are the only ones that truly hold that title. Gimme more meanies! Haha. Usually though, characters labeled as sadistic aren’t mean enough (**Cough cough, dear SSS, teasing =/= sadistic**) or they turn so soft hearted by the end that they aren’t even recognizable anymore.
Also… MORE PONYTAILS <3
15) Which LI do you think you are most like?
This is actually the hardest question? Lol. I am going to say I relate most to Impey just because I like to be goofy and crack jokes, but I am really serious about the things that I want and the things that I want to accomplish. And I like to be creative, even if sometimes my efforts blow up in my face.
I’ll tag @almost-rainy :) But don’t feel obligated! :)

The Line of Best Fit - Suburban Boy (Cameron Dallas)
88/100
If you would’ve said about 5 years ago that Cameron Dallas would leave Vine and social media fame behind, get a record deal, make serious music, become one of the most successful artists in the current music industry, and become a Grammy winner, you’d be carted off to an asylum. But that’s the world we’re in and judging by the monumental hits that this young man has put out into the world recently, it seems everyone’s loving the change of scenerey. After a star making EP, Dallas has returned with his debut album, one of the most anticipated albums of the year. He’s gone through a lot of changes in the last little while so heading into this album to see what he’s going to talk about is an interesting task. It’s also quite interesting to see if the album reaches the hype that came to greet it.
The album kicks off with an unexpectedly beautiful track , “Boys Don’t Cry”, complete with string arrangements and choir elements. It really takes you aback, but in a good way. It’s instant expectation subversion, but not in a way that feels manipulative. The tracks is a very relaxed one and keeps at a fairly even tempo. Cam’s voice is very smooth but also somewhat broken on the track and it adds some emotional weight to the proceedings. The lyrics are really quite intersting and they deal with some familiar topics in a new way which is always something that grabs your attention. It can be interepereted a few ways; the end of a relationship, one going bad, even a metaphor for supression of identity. It’s layerd and it makes for a great, if brief, opening. The mega smash “Make Up”, the one we all know, still holds up! This track was the perfect summer anthem and even now as we head into fall, it’s just as much fun. Dallas and Grande have such great chemistry and they bubble with excitement and energy on the track. The melody is catchy and memorable, the atmosphere is free and wild, and it’s just a damn good time. The only detraction from the song is some fauls in the production side, almost like Dallas and Grande’s voices aren’t fully connected to the music. But it’s a small detail that most untrained ears won’t notice. As it stands, it’s still a hugely successful song that’s endlessly memorable. The album’s second single, “(Not) Thinkin’ Bout You)” is a very good track that’s just short of true greatness. The track is very smooth and chill, and it feels like a nice spiritual successor to Make Up. The R&B style approach fits the vibe of the lyrics perfectly and the production becomes the strongest element. But the song’s lyrics become a little to repetative and Dallas’ vocals become a little inconsistent as the song goes on. It’s still very easy to get into and really vibe to, even if it’s not a highlight of the album overall.
Perhaps the sexist track on the album, “Powerslide” stands as one of it’s most memorable. Everything about this song just clicks. The production is the epitomy of cool. It’s one of the sexiest beats that you can find out there today and it makes this song take on a personality that almost can’t be described. Cam’s voice is just as sultry and seductive, slinking his way over the beat, really gripping you in the whole time. The lyrics are basically one double entendre and it’s humorous but also still pretty sexy. It’s a winner all around and a definite highlight of the album. “3 Nights” is another absolute winner, this track once again creates such an amazing vibe and it hooks you in. The production is rock solid, light as air, almost bubbly. And beautifully so! The most intersting part of the song though is Cam’s performance. He covers a wide range of emotions here. Seeming almost dismissive in the opening, to really biting anger in the second verse. It’s like he really let some emotions spill out by accident but kept the take. It’s shocking, but in a really beautiful way. The only issue here is that the song is so short and snappy that it doesn’t get much room to breathe. The lyrics are stacked and fast paced, which still works, but maybe a little more wiggle in the runtime couldn’t have hurt.
“Real Thing” falls about even with “(Not) Thinkin’ Bout You” in terms of it’s impact. It’s a well made song that has a lot of great elements, but it’s not a star among the tracklist. The lyrics are a bit overly repetative, especially toward the back end of the song. It seems there might’ve been more to say but it wasn’t really expanded on. Cam’s vocals however are outstanding, especially in the hook. This song does give his voice a lot of room to shine seeing as it’s production is a little more lowkey. It’s a nice track and certainly not a skip, but not the first track you’d run to when you go for a relisten.
“Camo” is absolute standout, this track hits hard because it speaks about something incredibly raw for Cam. Discussing his sexuality, this song takes a look at that from a perspective we’ve not seen before. He’s discussing repression, but also having all of that truth spill out in such a public way. It examines the effect it has on him as well as the people around him. And it’s not all that pretty. But there’s still a touch of relief in the statements, the repetition of “that’s life” not sounding like just a dismissal of the feelings but an understanding that there’s going to be bumps in the road when it comes to living your truth. It’s a really special track and one that could potentially mean a great deal to someone out there who may be struggling with these issues, and for that, it stands apart as a testement to the power of music. “Bruise” dusts off a skeleton in the closet for Cam, discussing being with a man while in a relationship with a girl. It’s really quite an interesting track and far and away the most experimental track the album has to offer. Rather than singing, he mainly relays the story of the song over a beat and then when it comes to a really sensitive portion of the story, he warps his voice with effects, almost as if he’s feeling like someone else as he relays this information. The song’s only true flaw is it’s pacing which feels off a bit. There’s a lot happening, then chill, then a big moment, then chill and it doesn’t always stay on track, but then again with a story like this it may not be meant to. “Sunflower” is another solid track, this one can be filed as another welcome vibe song. It’s a perfect summer track but it also feels like it could work in the context of fall oddly enough. Cam’s vocals are top notch here and Post’s are too to be honest! But the production is the real star of the track. The beat is intoxicating, the background vocals weaving in and out of the main vocals is a stroke or brilliance. However, the two artists here feel too seperated. They never sing together, never cross paths. It makes for a bit of an odd dynamic and you could be left wishing you got to really hear them together. But still, it’s an amazing track and one that will have endless replay value.
At first it doesn’t seem like you can take “The Sims” seriously. And then you get in the end and you’ve taken it completely seriously. Though the title may sound almost like a joke, it’s really treated like it means something because it does. It’s a love song, a longing song. And love and long don’t always come in smaltzy sweet packages. Sometimes it’s humorous and a little confusing. The song really is a nice number and it’s quite possibly the most charming one on the album. You feel what he’s talking about and the way he sings it (the melody!!!) adds so much to the affair. It’s one that like it’s predecessor has a lot of replay value. “Painkiller” is another interesting song but one that lacks some of the personality that you find elsewhere on the album. The writing is clever and the production work is mostly solid, but it feels a little ordinary in places. Though Cam does good work to make the song his own and in his style, he doesn’t feel as committed as he does elsewhere on the album. But as mentioned the song’s production is smooth and nice, almost carrying some soul vibes with it which is an interesting choice. “Break My Heart” is a song that’s likely to break the hearts of the rabid followers of Mendallas, this is one of the most emotional and experimental songs on the album. It’s an unpredictable song, weaving traditional vocals with vocodor and then an outro from Kris Jenner. It’s strange, it’s weird, but it works. It’s almost like a trip into the mind of someone who’s hurting, it doesn’t exactly make all the sense in the world but it doesn’t have to because it’s a feeling. The effects on the song really accent, not detract. The only downside is that it moves somewhat slugglishly. It’s just four minutes but it takes a while to get there due to the way the progression is treated. But it’s still a very solid track with a lot of elements to keep you re-listening so you can pick up on everything. “Party’s Over” is a song that’s likely to repair the hearts of the rabid followers of Mendallas, this song esaily takes the cake as the best on the entire album. Everything about it works. The beautiful instrumentation which brings us back to the similar strings we started with. The melody, his voclas espcially in the “over” in the chorus (goosebumps!), the mood, the meaning. It’s a perfect capper and it remains with you far after the album draws to it’s close.
It should come as no suprise that the album is incredible, but even so it remains a surprise at just how incredible it is. There’s no song on the album that feels disposable. Every song really builds to this growing narrative. Every song also sounds incredibly close to him and authentic to the man we know, but it also peels back new layers that we’ve never seen of him before. The production work is always interesting, smooth, and well worked by the talented producers. This is an era of music where artists are going way beyond in the quest for the next it thing, but Dallas achieved just that by stepping back and doing something releatively simple. Sure there are bells and whistles, but its by no means flashy. Dallas made a personal work, and because of that it’s a very affecting work. It stands as one of the most quality releases this year and one of the best debut albums of recent memory.

Furia & Eli: 2, 7, 13, 24, 26, 31, 40; Cinq & Shaundi: 4, 6, 11, 20, 36, 38, 43; Ravi & Co: 8, 11, 16, 22, 28, 30, 44; Remy & Matt: 5, 10, 18, 24, 32, 35, 45; Wei Sheng & Lin: 3, 13, 19, 23, 33, 39, 42
The Big Ship Question List
Furia & Eli
2. How’s their team work? Do they share well?Furia shares very well. In the domestic AU, Eli can still kind of be on the self-absorbed side and doesn’t always see his own selfishness. Mind you he’s also quite giving, but there are moments. Overall, their teamwork is above average. There are things they could still work on, but it’s good.
7. What annoys them the most about their partner? Would they change it if they could? For Furia, it might be the playing with the food and talking with his mouthful, but even so I don’t think she’d change that about him. I think the thing that might make Eli crazy is that she tends to not be as forth coming as he might prefer. Sometimes she beats around the bush and tries to come at a thing through metaphor and figures of speech. And that I think might just irk him.
13. What do they do for fun? Do they have a favorite activity or do they like to switch things up?Dancing, singing, going out to clubs, dinner, and amusement park/street fairs. These two like to switch things up. Neither of them are particularly scheduled and they both are on the spontaneous side.
24. Any doubts about the relationship? In the beginning, maybe. I think Furia remembers the thought that Eli was a great lay. And she still finds herself surprised every once and a while that he’s become so much more. But I think the doubt faded once Eli admitted how he felt, perhaps up to that point she probably felt foolish feeling more than just a tingle between her thighs for a musician--let alone a musician with his reputation.
26. How do their friends feel about their relationship? Their families?I think initially Furia’s friends and family thought it was just going to end in a bonfire (of all his shit). They figured Eli would hurt her. Once he became famous they were more certain of it. I think of everyone her friends and family are the most surprised, and it take them the longest to come around and realize he’s not a total cad.
31. Do they finish each other’s sentences? Pick up any phrases or habits from each other? Know when the other is hiding something?Oh, yes. On all counts. I think Eli’s picked up some choice phrases in Spanish that just thrill the censors in television interviews. Furia’s picked up some of his words and sayings as well. She’s more likely to finish his sentences, than he is hers. But they both know how to read one another, especially well enough to know when something is being hidden.
40. Any special memories? Do they have a special place they like to go to?I think the way Eli proposed is a memory they’ll share. He’ll never forget how nervous she was when she found out about their first child--he still has the ultrasound picture in his wallet. Their special place to be with each other might sound boring to most, but they just like being home together, because for them it is a rarity.
Cinq & Shaundi
4. First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight? Not necessarily love, but there was probably some lust at first sight. Cinq always appreciates a well-built woman, which Shaundi was, and I think Shaundi was attracted to him as well.
6. Any tasks that are always left to one person?Cinq tend to let her handle the electronics, and to a point he tries to keep her out of the line of fire--but only in part because she’s important to him. He also knows that Shaundi is one of the Saints most valuable resources and he doesn’t want to squander her talents on some dust up.
11. Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?Yes, all of the above. Even stupid little holidays like cherry cheesecake and grilled cheese day.
20. What does their home look like? Their room?Once they start sharing a space, it is a mix of his sleek style and her more comfortable one. The leather bed and slick black furniture is set off by plush chairs in a deep shade of purple. So there is a mix of decadence and opulence in their bedroom. And it’s surprisingly neat and free from clutter.
36. What’s their greatest strength as a couple? Their weakness?I think their greatest strength as a couple is the fact that they fill in the places where the other is lacking. Cinq can be smooth, but he doesn’t always leave a good impression. Somehow, Shaundi can manage that and more. Their weakness is probably based on the fact that he’s a little over protective and she’s headstrong. The two traits don’t mesh well and it create friction.
38. What are they like in the bedroom? Any kinks/fetishes/turn-ons? Anything they won’t do?Even with as much as he trusts Shaundi, Cinq won’t allow her to completely restrain her and he’s not into abusive talk--that actually will rile him and ruin the mood. Other than that, these two are pretty open to just about anything. Shaundi loves to be teased, which Cinq indulges in. Cinq is a bit of a voyeur--he likes watching Shaundi on her own, and loves to watch her when they are together. Luckily, she seems pretty keen on the save a horse, ride a cowboy idea.
43. Do they talk often? What about? They do talk a lot. While most of their conversations in a day are about “work,” in the bedroom that topic becomes off limits. They talk about little things there--the last game of skeeball she played, the band at the club the night before, the fact that some idiot threw up on his brand new loafers. It’s just things and stuff, nothing weighty.
Ravi & Co.
8. What do the like best about their partner?I think one thing they all have in common that they like a great deal about one another is their openness.
11. Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?Holidays not so much, but they do celebrate anniversaries.
16. Do they keep secrets? Lie? Cheat?Johnny is keeping a secret from both of them, and several from Matt. None of them cheat on one another. But I do think all of them lie to some degree, even to one another.
22. Does their work ever interfere with the relationship?Occasionally. Though they don’t really bring their alien overlord fighting into the bedroom so to speak. Their relationship is usually a place of relaxation, release, and solace from the stress of fighting for their lives.
30. Could they manage a long distance relationship?Oh, no. I don’t think they could. I’m pretty sure that would be more than any of them could stand, except maybe Johnny and he’d only probably work that hard for Ravi. He loves Matt, but I’m not sure he’d get into the whole cyber thing, though he could pull off and deal with phone sex, I think.
44. Are the comfortable with each other? Anything they have to have their privacy for? They are all very comfortable with one another. Johnny would be the one to say far too much so, because according to him, a man needs to be able to take a shit in peace.
Remy & Matt
5. Nicknames? Pet names? Any in-jokes?Oh, there’s kind of a joke centered around Matt trying to convince her to give him five minutes. There are nicknames Matt would like to be called, but that only happens rarely, if at all. And Remy is a nickname.
10. Who drives? Cooks? Does the handiwork? Cleans? Pays the bills? Handles the public?Driving: RemyCooking: Neither--though they can both make a few thingsHandiwork: Both--depending on the type of work neededCleans: RemyPays the bills: Matt--I’m sure he wrote a bot for thatHandles the public: Remy
18. What are their dates like? How long do/did they date? Do they ever feel the need to take a break from each other? They didn’t date prior to the Zin invasion, so a lot of their “dates” tend to center on cuddle time or sex in one or the other of their quarters, and occasionally, elsewhere. They haven’t really gotten to a point of needing a break from one another, unless Remy drags Matt into the sim, then there are moments where he just wants to leave because he doesn’t get the same thrill she does from combat situations.
As for the how long? I don’t honestly know how long they are together overall.
24. Any doubts about the relationship?Remy has more doubts than Matt and all stem around her lack of experience with relationships. She’s only been in one other and it was a horrid one. That one didn’t offer a chance to learn anything more than not to be in a relationship like that again. She actually took the lesson to the extreme until Matt and never really had an actual relationship.
Matt’s doubts spring from Remy’s in a way. He’s had a few and knows that communication is key, but Remy tends to keep her own council which leaves the pair of them scrambling sometimes because she’s not always immediately forthcoming about things. It can sometimes leave Matt wondering where he stands in terms of their relationship.
32. Do they ever get into trouble? Is it serious, or are they just mischievous?Yes. Both. Sometimes there are pranks and silliness. But they’ve been stranded on new planets together. Nearly been killed more times than I can count. And their relationship goes through some rocky points due to silly misunderstandings, as well as some deeper concerns.
35. Do they bring out the best in each other, or the worst? Do they have a fatal flaw?I think Matt brings out some better and more hidden parts of Remy’s character. She can be kind of gruff, but she tries not to be that way with him. I’m not sure if it is a fatal flaw, but their age difference is a little strange for both of them from time to time. If I had to say, I think the only fatal flaw in the relationship, at least in the boss’ opinion, is Remy, herself. She really does think she’s all wrong for him, and that he deserves someone more like him, and someone who’s not so much trouble.
45. Any special dreams or goals they have as a couple? Any heartbreaks? Regrets?Matt regrets that he didn’t have the gall before the Earth ended to attempt something with Remy. I also think Matt might just be harboring pipe dreams of a family with Remy, though I don’t think he’s brought it up to her.
Wei Sheng & Lin
3. Are they open about their relationship? How do they feel about public displays of affection? At first, no, and that trend continued through the move to Steelport. Then it became more open-ish. But Lin wanted it to be known that she was her own woman. She never wanted anyone questioning her or her place at the head of the Triad in Stilwater (yes, that’s what happens after she survives the Rollerz attempt on her life). She has no doubts about Wei Sheng’s opinions of her, but it is the others that concern her, given the cultural expectations that are pervasive in the Triad. While she proved herself, like any man in the organization has, her place isn’t as solid as her uncle’s had been.
Before the Saints there was no issue with PDA. Once she was infiltrating the Rollerz, their relationship went underground, and there it has stayed since. It does place a limit on public displays of affection, but they deal with it.
13. What do they do for fun? Do they have a favorite activity or do they like to switch things up?Given the fact that their relationship has been sequestered, they are big fans of ordering in something extravagant and watching a movie together. Sometimes it’s curled up on the couch, sometimes it’s more upscale. But that’s their main thing.
19. What do they fight about? What are their arguments like? How do they make up?One thing they fought about was just how far Lin was willing go and just how hard she was pushing to get information on the Rollerz. Wei thought she was going a little hard at it, tried to convince her not to rush the job. It’s a bit of lecturing and raised voices, perhaps a little yelling in Chinese.
When it comes to making up it can range from heated kisses because Wei won’t leave without a kiss even if she’s pissed at him, and that usually can diffuse the situation. Other times it’s a little more tender--cuddling, nuzzling, whispers, and soft kisses.
23. How do they hug? Kiss? Tease? Flirt? Comfort? They hug like it’s a goodbye, even when it’s hello--like they might never see one another again and they don’t want the last embrace they shared to be lacking in anyway. Wei always loops one arm tight around her waist, and pulls her tight against him.
Wei Sheng showers Lin with kisses--her shoulder, the back of her neck, her eyelids. I’m certain that at one point or another he’s kissed every inch of her body. Outside of sex, Lin limits her kisses to his mouth or cheek/temple.
Lin’s flirtations are mostly in her gestures--touching her neck, tracing her collar, running her fingers down his arms. Wei’s are generally in the looks he gives her, the things he whispers in her ear.
33. What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions?Wei likes to lavish surprises on her--everything from tools to unique and custom jewelry. Sometimes they are things she needs. But more often than not they are the things he happens across incidentally, the ones that remind him of her that he ends up picking up. He’ll do it whenever he sees something, though it’s just as possible that he’ll forget the holiday coming up and just give it to her the day he purchases it.
Lin is a little different. Her gift giving is more structured--holidays, birthdays, anniversaries. And she usually buys him a weapon of some sort--swords, guns, knives, things of that nature. It helps that he is a connoisseur and collects them.
39. Who initiated the relationship? Who kissed who first?  When did they realize they were in love?Wei Sheng initiated the relationship. He thought she was beautiful from the start. She rebuffed him because he approached her like he might any other girl. They finally got to know one another, and it was only then that his interest was returned at all.
The way their relationship started set Wei up to follow Lin’s lead, which is why she kissed him first. Wei Sheng realized he was in love first. Lin took much longer, in fact I think it’s possible that she didn’t realize quite how she felt about him for certain until the grief of losing him struck her.
42. Do they let each other get away with things that would normally bother them? No, not in the least. Wei will grump at her when she gets grease on his jacket and she nearly shot him once for stealing one of her cars. He called it borrowing. She did not see it that way.

Video game asks! 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 13, 19, 23, 33, 39, 46, 50, 51, 59, 67, 69!
FINALLY I’m doing this!
1. First game you played obsessively?- This is a toughie. But if my memory serves, it must’ve been either Mega Man 2 on NES or.. Bubble Bobble on NES. We as kids also obsessively watched our elder brothers obsessively playing the original X-COM. Too scary and complex for us tiny people to play.
5. Ever use cheat codes?- Yes. Especially whenever I’ve played anything from The Sims series... yes... and I’m not ashamed at all.
7. Any games you have multiple copies of?- Not really.. technically my Stem account does have both the GotY version and HD Edition of Skyrim, though.
8. Rarest/Most expensive game in your collection?- I think I have some original PS1 Final Fantasy games, which are nowadays hard to come by and expensive, as I understand.. though I’m afraid that some of the discs might be scratched up to thep oint they’re useless.
9. Most regrettable purchase?- Honestly, I can’t really name anything.. I mean, I’m REALLY picky about game purchases. Especially nowadays due to the whole eyesight thing. And as a kid I rarely had enough money to even make purchases, and when I did make a purchase, I had to be damn sure of it.
13. A game you’ve never played that everyone else has?- Uhh.. that’d be a pretty long list. Any popular FPS... Overwatch.. Team Fortress... I could list bazillion titles here. :p
19. Favorite handheld console?- The only one I have real experience of is my own Nintendo 3DS XL. Never done much with handhelds.. though I did have some pretty fond experiences with PS Vita.
23. The game that you’ve logged the most hours into?- Thisis difficult one.. not that I have any proof, but overall and over hte years, I’d say it’d be The Sims 3.
33. Did you ever have any bootleg games or plug-n-play games?- Nope.
39. A sequel that you would die for them to make?- Uhm.. this could have multiple answers too. But sequels to things like Jedi Knight woudl be cool.. and Vampire: The Masquerade. And where the hell is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 3?
46. Do you like relaxing games like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon?- In theory, yes. I should just bother and getting wi-fi for my flat so I could properly experience these fully.
50. If you were a game designer, what masterpiece would you create?- Uhh.. wow, this is difficult. I guess I might go for some sort of J-RPG inspired thing. Or maybe something that’s like a point-and-click adventure in a similar style to Tell Tales games or Heavy Rain.
51. Have you ever played a game for so long that you forgot to eat or sleep?- Yes. I’ll.. leave it that. It’ll be to oembarrassing if I admit what game it was.
59. Do you play any cell phone games?- Naw. When my eyes still worked enough for that, I did sometimes play some sudoku on my phone.
67. Do you have a happy gaming-related childhood memory you want to share?- Well, the most straight-forward ones would be something like playing Bubble Bobble with one of my siblings closer to my age. But there was something strangely nice when it would be midwinter and we’d sit around and watch our elder brothers play some bigger and more complex game.
69. In your opinion, best game ever made? - I’m gonna cop out and say nothing. I mean.. it’s really difficult to pick out “the best”. Different games have different aspects. Some good, some bad. But if I were forced to say something.. I think Final Fantasy VI is pretty close.
