i cant believe this is how i found out that ditw is a book too 💀 i thought the graphic novel was all.
After much thinking I have to say that I'm not surprised. The "Demon in the Wood" book was first released on 2014 as an extra alongside "Ruin and Rising". Then, Leigh uploaded it on her page I think. But from the moment the Graphic Novel came out, everybody forgot about the book and almost no one was mentioning it.
Don't misunderstand me. I love the Graphic Novel too. But the book offers an even deeper insight since it's from Eryk's POV.
If you want to read it, dear anon, or anyone else, here is a link:
dug out the 2017 Heaven's Gate podcast again and ugh. i have feelings. i've listened to and watched so many cult docus over the years, and this one is still by far the best. it's nuanced, and it's compassionate, and manages to not portrait them as a bunch of lunatics - the founders as well as the whole group. huge huge recommend.
The embargo for 1899 reviews is up! So I can finally say, yes this show has intriguing mysteries and great imagery. But it also has really fun small moments. I live for the two guys in the engine room who go back and forth about their superstitions. Could it have been wolves who killed everyone on the Prometheus? Better wear a garlic chain just in case! Just against vampires? Naaah, garlic is a catch-all.
And then there are moments that caught me off-guard, that really go down to the essence of the show, I think. Two passengers standing by the railing, watching the seagulls, and one of them going "Even the birds up there have their own prison. They can't escape who they are. And neither can we."
Okay, so I finally got to the credits on the Post-Heavensward stuff, and I have... some thoughts on how the narrative is progressing that, if anyone has been paying attention, are obvious.
But to sum it up quickly, I just made a couple folders and here's the size of the one where I put all my unorganized screenshots and recordings from ARR

Aaaaaaand here's Heavensward.

So... YEAH!
I'm gonna... sort through some of that before I start up with Stormblood, because uhhhh, I have a LOT of things to go through.
The Doctor sat in front of the layout and put his head in his hands. He should have known better. You have to watch these things. You can't let them get out of control. He should have known better. If you give them the chance to grow on their own, they're bound to bring things crashing down around them.
