Hey! I just saw your post about the southern accent and it's a breath of fresh air to see someone who likes out accent and doesn't mock it, appreciate it 🤠
I seriously don't understand how people mock it, do you mean other Americans? Because the Southern/Texas accent is really the best/most attractive one. Tbh the only American accent I like (like, a lot)
I'd pay someone with a southern accent to just sit next to me and talk 😀 *sweet talk required*

You might not have to hear this but some one piece ships literally don't make sense that it gives me the ick 🥲 (some ships i just respect and leave alone, i'll color them in blue.) (And the ones that give me severe trust issues is purple)
AceSan - ...okay... The smirk...? What else...? Trauma bonding?? What...? I mean, its cute, i can leave the ship alone and its fans. I think this ship stemmed from the way Ace was drawn looking at Sanji *my boy was greasy* Y'all are horny though.- (sorry. But they'll get along so well with supporting and stuff- TRAUMA. MY GUY. I KNOW IT WHEN I SEE IT 😭
HanLu - thats a grown ass woman.
LawLu - and thats a grown ass man. (But Luffy's 19- AGE GAP???)
ZoSan - i'm sorry HUH. The two men that insult each other 24/7 were being shipped??? HUH. (But they respect each other- I KNOW THAT??? BUT GODDAMN THE FICS DON'T GET THEIR CHARACTER RIGHT 😭 ZoSan is a well-liked ship, but don't consider them canon and that they'll kiss after Zoro defeats Mihawk)
ZoBin - THAT IS HIS MOTHER FIGURE.
SaboSan - ...They never met 😶... and what if they do? Trauma bonding again?... Y'all I'm sorry but huh- how. Legitimately I'M SPEAKING RATIONALLY, HOW THE FUCK WOULD TWO PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE??? THAT WAY???
UGH ITS JUST A 2D CHARACTER!!
Well DAMN YOU WEREN'T TREATING THEM LIKE THAT WHEN I WAS DISSING THEM??

I know there are as many religious good guys as there are religious bad guys in IDW, but I think I pinned down the reason why it feels like the most prominent religious figures are all bad guys and it's pretty much due to the worldbuilding.
Maybe my memory of the comics is just really bad, but the religious worldbuilding in IDW is....kind of trash honestly. I'm not sure there's a single religion or religious custom that doesn't exist solely to further the plot along. Like, it's one thing for the Camiens to worship the Primes and that causes a lot of stuff in exRID/OP, but what does that worship actually look like? What are their holidays, customs, religious texts? What about "spectralism" which basically the only thing we know about is the Festival of the Lost Light and some hippie color coding and aura shit? Like sure, there are characters who are religious and their beliefs come into play sometimes, but it honestly feels (especially in MTMTE) more like their religiousness only exists when it's relevant to the plot and it's just kinda. Disappointing eh. Lacking in worldbuilding. Plus the more religious a character is the more it's written as their entire personality and the driving force making them evil so it just kinda made me cringe to read honestly.

this post is gonna seem so fucking random, and its really not at all important, tiktok is just being tiktok, and I have something to say that really doesn't mean shit but would get me flamed on that hellsite, and I hate not saying whats on my mind, even when its in my best interest so I'm saying it here, cause I can, just ignore me.
there seems to be this devote group of people in the SoC's fandom (*cough cough* I've only seen them on tiktok, and they're always those types of fans, that just like, care way to much about others opinions. *cough cough*) who hate people who see the dynamic of kaz and wylan as a father/son-esque relationship, like getting all types of mad about it. again it was like 5 or 6 people, but it was enough to make me really think about it and then proceed to get pissy, cause I'm a stubborn asshole at heart who can't just drop something once it's pissed me off, and it really only pissed me off cause someone said interpreting them like that was "infantilizing gay men" and I just... no, please no, that's not at all whats happening, I promise.
so here's my unnecessary two cents, cause I can't just move on;
what would you like me to call their dynamic hmm? kaz is only a bit older in age, but forced himself to mature and take on burdens that make him much older then he is, burdens he won't let anyone take off his shoulders. while he is very much like a mentor or older brother to wylan, trying to be who he needed after losing jordie, his role within the group as a whole puts him into much more of a caretaker role. he's the dad of the group, he is provider and protector, he is the brawny brains so to speak, a very paternal energy as head of the 'family'. he is the protector of his crows, he takes care of them, all of them, in his own fucked up ways, being what they need him to be. he would do anything for them, even if he tries to hide it, and this typically ends up with him in one way or another taking on a nurturing role of sorts (describing this man is so hard, cause his internal vs. external actions are so fucked by his mental state. going above and beyond for him and like bare minimum to the average person, and I don't know how to verbalize it). factor that into the fact that wylan lacks a father figure, a good one at least, he naturally plays that role in a very similar way that an older brother or mentor would fill the void of a younger sibling/mentee. wylan also looks up to and takes after kaz a lot, which points into the father/son-esque vibes. all in all, no they aren't your traditional father/son dynamic, but like, that's the closest simple term I can slap on them, cause I'm not giving this little speech a million times. their dynamic is messy and layered and complicated by both of their metric tons of trauma, paired with the overall found-family/trauma-bond thing those littles shits got going on over there. let them be messy and let me just sat father/son for my sanity, I beg (if someone tells me I'm infantilizing wylan cause he's gay/dyslexic/autistic-coded I'm gonna have a stroke, I just want my boys to be vaguely happy and have some semblance of family alright, and sure, maybe my daddy issues play into it, but that's none of your goddamned business)
please say I'm not the only one to encounter those fans, and please tell me this makes sense to someone, I beg of you.

I have a late hot take Tuesday take: Ringo is the real PR Beatle. I have nothing against the guy but I have noticed nothing sticks to him in the way it does for the others. Reading Beatles bios, he's often described as the least communicative and even stand-offish. In many photos and videos, including Get Back, he looks like he's having the worst time of his life. There's been rumors over the years of him being grumpy to fans, not paying well, and there's the infamous "peace and love no more autographs" video. In his individual parts of Anthology he's subdued, monotone, and serious. And YET. Who has the reputation for being the stick-in-the-mud? George.
He outright admitted to almost beating Barbara to death and it sounds like the last years with Maureen got dicy yet who is known as the wife-beater? John.
Paul doing stuff for kids and playing up to cameras is cringe. Ringo doing it is charming. While Paul's response to John's death was awkward, Ringo came across as admirably vulnerable. Paul dying his hair? Pathetic. Ringo? You mean the guy who's somehow looked the same for 30 years?
He moved to Monaco to avoid taxes, was regularly photographed with different women, was one of the most notorious partiers in the 70s, has questionable political opinions, and was drunk in pretty much every 80s appearance but he narrated Thomas the Tank Engine, sang Yellow Submarine and loved his old bandmates so he maintains this cuddly approachable image. Ringo is down-to-earth!
His twitter is also a masterclass in PR.
That's not to say I think the way Ringo expresses his feelings is calculated or that all of this was necessarily intentional but I don't believe it's an accident either. So it's not fair Paul is the only one called out on it.
Wow this was an essay. Sorry. lmao
i know you're not trying to cancel him, and not to dunk on you, anon, because i love that you sent this (an Actual For Real Hot Take), but this reads a little like a Your Fave Is Problematic callout post where "nearly beating his wife to death" sits alongside innocuous things like "quit the band and went on vacation" lmao
i mean, i do totally agree with your point as a whole that ringo gets away with a lot in terms of his public image. he definitely does. i feel like of all of them, ringo gets talked about like a rounded complex human being the least.
