My stepmom met Egon for the first time today and while he was a sweet little gentleman she says to me "wow he's hyper, are you sure you should have him?"
And I'm just like :|
Idk it bummed me out. I sink a lot of time and effort into this dog. I take him to a professional trainer, I walk him five times a day (actual structured walks up and down the street, not just let outside into a yard) not even including game time where we play fetch, I take him to a groomer on a six week schedule just to make sure his nails get cut by someone competent, he sleeps indoors and doesn't even need to be crated anymore.
I feel like I'm doing very well as a dog owner thank you very much. You're going to have to forgive the boy for being excited to meet new people.

Every time i cringe when old of mine gets notes again, I then get this kinda swell of pride
Like man I never would've thought that a silly doodle I did in the middle of a hyperfix in 2019 would over 4 years later bring a smile to someones face
Like how many times I've gone down internet rabbit holes and found fanart over a decade old but still managed to bring a smile to my face, how many abandoned fics and comics and art people dont really think abt anymore still bring me joy when I stumble upon them
And I might not be proud of my old work because I've improved and I get embarrassed because I know I could do so much better if I re-did it nowadays, but like thats not the point. When I made it way back when it made me happy, and while it's not up to my personal standards anymore, it still makes other ppl happy. Other ppl arent holding my old art to the standards i am.
My one lil moment of joy that sparked a doodle inspiration kinda went across time and brought a smile to someone else's face way down the line when im not even really in the fandom that doodle was for anymore
AUs I've since gone back and went "eugh" with because I know I couldve approached them with better designs and writing nowadays, even tho I don't think it's good enough, someone else does, and like. thats just. thats just nice.
Idk. I dont have a point to this. I just hope that stuff i make today makes ppl happy years down the road. That's a nice thought.

Hey!!! I just got on here from twitter and was wondering just what exactly does it take to grow on tumblr, I'm extremely new to the audience and general atmosphere aroudn here, so just wondering <3
Hello hello!! welcome!! :")
I know this,, isn't gonna be super helpful and probably isn't what you were asking for,,,, but here we go
genuinely I feel like things are much more casual here on Tumblr than like. anywhere else. you don't see people's follower counts, so it feels less like a competition, yanno? and the algorithm doesn't suck all that much-- whereas it feels like stuff on twitter either falls flat or is chewed up and spit out within moments, on Tumblr posts stick around forever.
it makes it easier for smaller fandoms and more niche things! people will see it. and they'll probably keep seeing it. I have stuff from small fandoms from years ago being reblogged even today :')
it's pretty passive here, too. like. on twitter I feel like you have to stay with the current popular thing to gain followers-- even to maintain them! I feel like it's more common here to have older fandoms still be active even though it isn't being currently released, and it's more common to be multifandom. It also isn't super important to post regularly!!
but if you want to get an audience here, it isn't super different from how it is on twitter-- It really just depends on what's trending and what's popular, since that's what people would be actively looking for through tags.
but my biggest tip would be that short, digestible comics tend to do well, especially if they're funny!! when I was starting out I would literally be in the mindset of "ok now I need to make a funny comic of bnha" after getting torn up over how low the notes were on my normal art posts lol.
tl;dr post what you want! people will like the things you make!! Tumblr is probably the best place to do fuck-all and wing it
