Stolen Coins and a Tail

tw. your pirate crew treats you like shit tbh

content. you're counting gold pieces after your crew finds treasure when a mermaid appears all of a sudden in the water

a/n. jouno is highkey ooc and i wrote this rlly fast so its not spellchecked but hey whatre u gonna do?? also everyone check out @fayiif bc shes writing mermaid au fics too!!

As per usual, after finding every treasure, you were left counting and calculating every item and their worth. Your captain had found just about any reason to keep you from showing off your skills and capabilities, busying you by having you count the gold coins and various items being one of them. You had found something with a worn down label that you could barely make out as, “Game Boy.” You didn’t know what it was, only that it would be worth a hefty penny back on land. You count every gold piece of the thousands the crew had conquered, boring yourself.

“1, 2…” You mutter counting up another 10-coin pile. As you look at the large pile of gold you still hadn’t finished counting, you realize that given you were already over 1000 coins and you weren’t close to done. Upon this realization, you reach over to the pile, grabbing a small pile of coins to sort out, slipping some down your sleeve to keep as payment for this service.

You stole a few coins every time you did this, keeping them in a little box in your barracks under your bedding for when you returned to land. Part of it was the payment the captain refused to give you and another part was a slight revenge. When your ship would inevitably be hijacked, the captain would lose everything—all his goods stashed away in his office as apparently to thieves as you could imagine—while you would still have your little stash of a few hundred coins under your bedding. Part of you was thrilled for that day, in hopes the other pirates would see your strengths or at least take pity on you and allow you to join their crew.

Unfortunately, the cruelty of your captain wasn’t lost of you when he steps over, knotted black beard waving in your face, much to your irritation. You pull a fake smile, asking what he needed today and praying he didn’t notice what you had done. “Well, I was just wondering how the counting was going!” He says, jovial tone as if you don’t know why he assigned you this job, how he was scared of you getting too skilled and taking over, how he wanted to keep you soft and sweet so you wouldn’t ever use your talents to take him out.

You tell him the items your found and how much gold you had counted out. While telling him your estimates on how much each item would go for, you are interrupted by a crewmate shouting, “There’s something in the water!” He runs off in the middle of your sentence, not a single apology as he looks over to see a tail flick in the water.

You rush up to see what had happened, staring at the mermaid, short white hair with red tips, eyes shut as he feels around the boat. He tunes into the voices shouting, the ale swishing in cups, and even the confident heartbeats that could only belong to pirates. You watch as his face morphs into a realization, his mouth tightening and features scrunching as he attempts to swim away. Unfortunately, he hears a net fly out where he was attempting to swim, causing his to try his best to reroute.

You try to reason with the crew, to let the mermaid leave when one member, a man who had it out for you since day one shouts, “How about we throw Y/N into the water and let the mermaid keep her?” You recoil out of disgust, his croaky voice creeping under your skin. You think he’s joking until him and a few of his friends begin to shout, “Throw them! Throw them!” over and over. You tell them to shut up, calling them immature when the rest of the crew begins chanting along with them.

“Throw them!” Their voices echo, screeching in your ears.

“Throw them!” You can feel the boat shake with the cheers to be rid of you.

“Throw them!” Each voice muddles together until you don’t know who’s who.

“Throw them!” You hear one final time before you tune it out when the captain picks you up, carrying you to the edge of the plank. You kick and scream nearly freeing yourself multiple times until you’re at the very end of the plank and you hear the captain say, “Fine, I’ll let you go,” before dropping you into the ice-cold water below.

The last thing you see before shutting your eyes is the same mermaid rushing over to where you’re falling. You feel yourself sink into the water, accepting your fate. You would never be saved, you’d never get away, you had no one but this crew of pirates that didn’t care what would happen to you so long as it made you miserable. You stop fighting it, you don’t try to swim up, you don’t try to hold your breath. You just open your mouth and let the water begin to fill your lungs.

That is until the mermaid from before pulls you out of the water, he drags you along as you cough the water out of your lungs, not paying the slightest attention to your state. He simply drags you to a nearby island, one you recognized from the maps. An uncharted island with the infamous Amantes Lake, a place swarming with sirens. You assume this is where he came from, thinking carefully as he places you on land. He stares at you in soaking clothes and hair as wet as can be. You know you looked like a mess but it was rude to stare.

He looks for a few more moments, observing you with a curious stare before he reaches over, placing a few gold coins in your lap. “Those fell out of your sleeve.” Is all he says before he swims off, disappearing into the water. You smile at the coins. It isn’t much but it is enough to get back home if a sailor comes by for research. You think of the mermaid that had saved you. While they existed, it was rare for male mermaids to be seen above water. Women were typically the ones spotted, men are presumed to stay beneath the waters surface to find food and take care of the cove while women were thought to keep others in their species safe from sailors.

It was odd, you assumed it was a rare occasion, maybe due to his clearly poor eyesight, but still, you appreciated him saving you. You were a little upset you couldn’t at least thank him but there’s not much you can change about that. All you can do is stand up, still a bit wobbly and try to look for wood to burn. As you wander, finishing setting up a fire after a few minutes you notice a familiar hed of white hair rise from the sea, heading in your direction. You walk over to the edge and he tosses some fish onto the land. “Food.”

You laugh, “I can see that, thank you.” You respond with a hum, bringing the fish to the fire to cook.

He apologizes. “Sorry, I’m just a little tired from those pirates.”

“You and me both,” You chuckle, beginning to cook the fish, ”At least you haven’t had to be tired of them for the past 2 years straight.” You say, thinking of every rude comment, threat, loud night time drinks where you’d get yelled at if a single one of them saw you.

He snickers, “They’d all be dead if I did.”

“Kill them anyways?” You say, tone quirking into a question. You smirk, giggling as he slinks away in an instance.

He throws his head back to think before pulling closer to your place on the land. “No. I wouldn’t do that for you, you’re almost as annoying as the people I work with.” He states, a twinge of his eyebrow showing an intense disdain. Whether it’s for you or his coworkers, you don’t know.

“Oh, are your co-workers at your nine to five job annoying?”

“Not as annoying as your co-workers on that boat.” He says and you kick at him, “Also, I don’t work a nine to five.”

You ask what his job is then. At first he says he can’t divulge but after a little badgering and a few empty threats from each of you, he begins to explain. “I protect Atlantis from humans, keeping it a safe haven for beings like me.” He goes on, explaining his job which leads you to ask if that’s why he was by your ship. “Yes. You were getting too close to our territory so I was sent to divert you. What I wasn’t told is that you were pirates, the worst kind of sailors. I was just supposed to distract them and get away when everyone else arrived to deal with it but no, you had to get in the way and cause problems for me so now they might be on their way.”

You squint at him, “Sorry that I was thrown off my own ship and have almost no way of getting home.” You take the fish off the fire and start eating, finishing your bite and saying, “My bad.”

Your sarcasm isn’t lost on him and he responds in turn, “It’s okay, I forgive you.” THis causes you to scoff, irritated by him. Who knew mythical creatures would be assholes just like humans. “Look, you can just stay on this island. I’ll bring you food and make sure the sirens don’t fuck with you. If you couldn’t save yourself from getting thrown off a boat by one measly human, You couldn’t possibly be a threat.”

“Or is that what I want you to think and this is my plan to get to Atlantis?”

“Shut up.”

“Okay.” You say pausing for a moment. He goes to swim back down and you stop him, “Thank you, by the way. I don’t really have any other options unless a sailor happens to find me here, which is unlikely since almost no one will come here, let alone make it out alive.”

He smiles a little, “I would say it’s no problem, but it will be a hassle.” He mutters and you toss a rock at him, telling him to shut up through a laugh. He swims off, returning everyday to give you food, whatever items he finds thrown into the sea, and providing you some company on your long days. It’s lonely, and he’s not exactly the nicest company, but he’s kind and he is better than nothing.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR OFMD S2 EP6-7 under the cut

Ok, that was A LOT. I have so many feelings but no coherence so i'm gonna do this bullet point form but def not in order, just in order of me remembering wtf happened lol

-IZZY AND WEE JOHN IN DRAG!!!!! Wee John looked STUNNING with that Divine-esque appearance and Izzy had that transmasc drag king kind of thing going on (iykyk) that made me love him even more

-Izzy singing LA VI EN ROSE took me tf out!!! i'm glad he got to finish it after the *ahem* distractions bc Con's voice is so beautiful I could listen to it forever. We better get it in the album!!! Also someone posted the lyrics translated and i cannot get over the lyrics:

"It's him for me,/And me for him, for life/He told me, he swore to me, for life"

-But not only was he singing the second half had fucking gentlebeard doing the dirty in the next room asdfghjkl which.....was hot, ngl. The passion was electrifying. I'm sorta glad we didnt rlly see it with everything that happened after bc it all kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.

Also Stede Bonnet canonically gets turned on by violence confirmed

-What else happened in ep 6 cause all i can think of is drag and singing and sex-

-oh yeah there was that shortlived sexually-charged torturer who i distinctly recall him being in another scene in the promo so unless that got the cut perhaps he's not dead...?

-Stede...Stedey boy, can I call u that? Now i'm gonna say this nicely, but WHAT THE FUCK DUDE? Stede in his white guy w undue confidence era fr. Zheng Yi Sao was so right for what she did truly

-But in all seriousness i feel like this whole thing in ep 7 was such a parallel to s1 but also a very necessary bit of conflict in their journey together that was bound to happen. THey want different things and neither is wrong or right for that. Stede did react poorly tho but like he just had sex w the love of his life, his first man, and Ed the very next day is like "aight i'm out". I'd be pissed too. After killing someone which we know is a big trigger for him historically.

But Ed also had a valid reaction. He's wanted to retire for a while and stede knows this but it hasn't seemed to have sunk in quite yet. He fears that Stede only sees Blackbeard and...its fair of him to have that impression tbh. These are two messy, traumatized dudes who have never had a real relationship and there's gonna be bumps. I hope we get s3 so we can better explore that like Djenks wants.

hello, hi, im alive. im rlly tired tbh. im trynna get back to writing again because, yknow, consistency but 1) school is kicking my fucking ass and 2) im really stuck in life. i think ive ruined my life lol.

im also like... consistently hyper aware of the ways in which ive ruined my standing/position/place in the kpop writing world because I'm Just A Cunt Who Blocks And Attacks And Hates Everyone, yknwo??.

i miss my friend... he was nice. my other friend is so nice but they don't have gift giving as a love language and gift receiving is my love language so.

one thing about me is that i LOVE mitski... i've been waiting for the new album ever since working for the knife dropped in 2021 and she did not disappoint literally so many of the songs were SO relatable and applicable to my life its safe to say she carried me thru early 2022... heat lightning and should've been me are my two fav songs from the album but literally the whole thing is no skips for me

EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE directed by daniel kwan and daniel scheinert (2022)

no bcos i walked into this movie hearing so many good things about it i was kind of worried ab it being underwhelming to my expectations But It Was Not. it made me bawl the first time i watched it highkey 🤭 something about the specific flavour of parental... disappointment?? love??? it was beautifully crafted and stephanie hsu's performance to me was unforgettable im probably going to go watch her entire portfolio ive watched the vid below like 10 times

jort recommended this show to me and i finally bit the bullet and watched it in may... ITS SO BEAUTIFUL. IT JUST. clenches fist idkkk this show just is stunning on so many levels visually its my fav anime i think??? so many frames that will live in my head forever... also the nature of the narrative about Kindness without the like framework of whether its "deserved" or you're worthy of giving or receiving it really spoke to me. hats off to jort for this i'm rlly glad i got to start it while the show was airing

IT'S SO GOOD. i love my horror movies but i will freely admit that like 80% of the films in the entire genre are just objectively Bad especially american made horror movies 🤭 jordan peele completely sidesteps that issue and nope has to be my fav of his works so far i think. it has layers like an onion i'm still thinking about it like months after watching it... mr peele already had a fan in me for life but this solidifies it

some more misc hcs, for funsies, since i did a couple replies, lmao.

>due to his fondness for insects/arachnids/bugs in general, instead of a normal pet, arvo had a pet tarantula as a child/pre-apocalypse, her name was zoya. natasha also had a pet, a in-training service dog, a rough collie named bolshoi, and lost him fairly early on. >i totally forgot to add these last time i drew him, so. whoops, but arvo has braces, with rubberbands, too. yes, he is tempted to go at them with pilers somedays.

>at one point, arvo found a old journal, and he still uses it tbh, basically using it like a diary. he also tends to doodle in it a lot, nothing rlly good just bored scribbles. he'll also sometimes draw on his arms/skin in general. >sometimes when hes bored enough, he’ll ‘doodle' math and science shit in his journal too, like catch him filling up pages with long ass polynomial problems and calculus. he finds it calming, its like second nature to him and he doesn’t have to rlly think about it.

>though he technically wasn’t supposed to watch them growing up, arvo is kind of a horror junkie ?? like horror movies/books/games are his kinda thing, ok. sometimes his old group used to tell stories to pass the time while traveling, or at night, and arvo highkey got banned from participating bc his stories were always scary. >arvo vc: u guys are nooooo fun smh !!

>a big reason arvo is into botany/plants and gardening as much as he is, is partly because he was a kid he used to help his mom garden and stuff, which sparked his interest in it.

>used to take a bunch of different music lessons when he was a kid, but the only one that really stuck was piano. tho hes a lot better with copying music (playing by ear, sight reading) then he is making some thing new, or making stuff up on the spot. he tends to always think of it more logically / math-like, almost bc that's just what he finds easier.

>arvo has a really bad nail biting/picking habit! it’s an anxious tic, he’ll bite/pick them down super short until they start bleeding, and will probs continue to bite them anyway bc hes stupid, asdfghjkl? he’ll also bite/pick at his cuticles until the same shit happens, (someone pls yell @ him 4 it).

i was rlly rlly enjoying that it felt like s11-esque SP again which, my personal fav seasons are like s6-s12 n around there so i was having a blast and then that ending just. pulled down its pants and projectile-shit all over me. it wasnt bad ig it was just. gross which i mean i'd expect nothing less but. yeah idk this is my way of saying cartman nipples ruined a whole special for me. that being said tho that was. probs my fav special yet? ending aside gkfkf

cartman went back to his roots a bit and i LOVED it (pointing guns at people, correctly deducing a situation like a little genius but then drawing a wildly inaccurate conclusion about it like a little moron, I MISSED HIMM), he even bullied butters into helping him like the good ol days n the cartmanbutterstoken combo like christian rock hard made me SO happy theyre such a good trio. cartman w the two boys who call him by his first name... speaking of i love how token calls him eric even tho he hates him.

i love token sm actually he was so good in this special. hes been rlly good lately in general actually, the one good thing to come out of the weed plot has been the black family (...ahh...) getting more screentime and development. tokens highkey the stan of craig and those guys which rlly Makes the rival weed farm parallel bc theyre both just. the normal ass kids next door dealing w insane bullshit. i LOVED his compassion for the little. chuck chuck creature it reminded me of the goonies and it was cute. cartman scoffing in the background was funny but it was rlly sweet n did remind me a lot of goonies which. childhood nostalgia always good. also im a child and the thing squirt-shitting made me laugh KGFKFK toilet humor will always get me bc im a 8 yr old boy ig

it was cool to have an overarching villain again i do think SP handles narratives with like. Big Bads well? idk i never see it praised but i personally enjoy those plots and i liked how it was done here. tho this is a bit morbid, the, er, conclusion of pipi's story reminded me of that ummmmm verruckt incident in kansas (if u kno u kno; if u dont and u google, sorry) and it made me wince. im sure it wasnt intentional but my macabre lil mind drew the parallel n i cringed fff. but i enjoyed the rest of that story

and oh my goodness it was nice to see south park shit on celebrities again FKFKF like TRULY getting back to its roots. felt like classic sp mockery i loved it a ton

OH RANDY oh my lord. when he went back to normal i was like. holy hell i missed this. tht was nice to have back. modern randy can be plenty funny but he's overwhelmingly annoying and played out and the meta behind his plot made me wonder if m&t agree w that sentiment? ik they started using randy as a mouthpiece for themselves once they hit. 40 or 45 or whatever idk when it started but them acknowledging the weed shit was played out (when previous recent eps had had more of a "haha we know u hate the weed shit and WE DONT CARE LOL!!!" stance) was kewl. ik randy reverted by the end but im hoping maybe smth might carry over. and it was nice to see the marshes being. normal n supportive n smiling again. i dont rmr the last time i saw sharon smile ;( and the sacrifice stan made of letting randy do what he needed to do... he sounded so sad. he'd only jus got his dad back. man i luv stan hhh poor kiddo

the karen shit actually made me laugh i thought it was funny. i don't hav any deep thoughts on it it jus amused me

okay another cute boi rant post be warned (it is a bit long)

sO we hung out tonight it was SO date vibes and aaahhhh h hh h

he wanted to show me this like park area in the city (not naming names bc mmm internet stranger danger) cause i dont remember seeing it before, so we like went to the top of it where there weren't a lot of extra lights or people (theres like a light show event going on atm so its rlly busy) and we sat on a rock and vibed for like an hour?? maybe two?? i dont know time went by really fast

hes like so easy to chat with and lose time around and like it was so nice and i have really cold hands all the time especially if im outside, and he has warm hands a lot, and like REALLY WARm hands. so like he let me hold his hands to warm mine up

and i was so pleased like oml, it was so nice. and like we were sitting at different heights so like i played with his hair and he let me and he laid his head on my lap at some point so it would be easier for me to play with it and :)))))

idk i find it really soothing to play with other peoples hair and if its a way to somehow make people be more inclined to play with MY hair well that doesnt matter does it and we really just like sat on that rock in the cold chatting without keeping track of time for so long.

and and at some point my hands were the warm ones so he like grabbed my hand and lowkey stole it like i was doing earlier and we ended up highkey holding hands for a while and it was really really nice.

and hes nice to strangers TOO my god. he gave directions to like 3 different lost people when we were sat on that rock

and he has like such a nice soothing voice and hes really warm and soft and adn adnaksjdhAKJSD.

on our way home way later we linked arms and it was so warm and nice and idk how but when we would like look each other from that close?? it hits different. i may have liked the way he looked at me a bIT too MUCH

idk i find myself really relaxed around him and like i feel safe? its different from normal. and hes got such a nice easygoing sense of humor that somehow matches mine so well? because i laugh at the funniest shit and some people dont get that.

AND OML okay so i have tics, which have been better lately but they definitely still exist. and like i was getting tired and a bit sugar high-y near the end of it bc like we had waffles (they were very good) so i was doing like a hand tic that i have and cute boi soUnded so genuinely concerned when he asked if my wrist hurts, , ,, , ,, ,,and like idk the way he said that he doesnt mind and the whole suportive wholesome vibe was really really nice and mY GOD i like this man.

So i visted my friend out of state for almost 2 weeks and she only has the most unhealthy food imaginable so i felt DISGUSTING the whole trip. Its ok tho im back home, i got a dog, and im more motivated than ever. I so badly miss starving :( also my homie i kiss on the mouth talks to me on the ohone alot so it distracts me from eating :) !! Also new puppy means i have to go on walks :)) !! Im so excited to be skinny omfg. I rlly deserve it after the shit ive beeb going thru 😭. 2023 overview

im such a loyal person man LMAOOO i still specfically come back here to do this lool anyways this year was fucking insane like FUCKING insane and long as hell... grniguehrsi

i think i started the year a lil depressed cuz i was working that fuckass job

i think jan 2023 was nothing but me suffering through that fuck ass job, gyming, etc.,

that old apt ahahah i mean tbh it was nice but too big and TOO SECLUDED omg

actually the way i spent a whole year so isolated from society was crazy what the fawk

i dont even think i got much out of it like self improvement wise

maybe japanese? guitar? but that came only at the end

i guess playing ps5... lol -_-

i gained so much weight cuz of depression and that stressful ass job

the way i think majority of that weight was just the AMOUNT OF CORTISOL BUILD UP I HAD

anyways jan was whatever

then i went to umrah in feb which was stressful cuz the amount of ppl and the BUGS man god

this whole time i thought my prayers werent answers but they were tbh i had a good year even if there was struggles

i didnt get gl yet but APPARENTLY thats too much to ask for

then barcelona lMAOOO which was okay!! i think i would have obv enjoyed it more if i wasnt there for work but i mean still it was just another european city
