Pink Venom by Blackpink was released today. I’ve always heavily criticised YG’s management of their ‘musical careers’ but I’ve since been quite fond of the girls in the recent year. Sadly, Pink Venom is tragic. Lisa’s rap always ruins everything for me. 

If this MV is the most expensive one ever made in KPOP then I do not believe it (is this just the pre-release??) The set designs look great and the girls look beautiful but I wish they really leaned into Jisoo’s set with the chanting and creepy clones. They are dancing in a box so how did it cost more than any other MV? Money unwisely spent because the best MVs of 2022 have already been released. 

Anyways, I understand their concept. They deliver on what YG’s vision of them is. It’s my fault for expecting more and I suppose it’s frustrating to see them not evolving at all. They never do anything different but at the same time, if they break every record regardless, then they have no incentive to change.

This is the first time I’ve ever looked at a Blackpink MV and felt the gap between them and everyone else become so very small.

Christmas as a cultural icon is starting to get really dystopian in a climate sense, december has historically been a time of year in which there would be snow in a significant portion of europe and north america, and the fact that its not even icy this time of year and all the christmas songs and decorations reference a time of year that will likely never exist in the same way again in my life time is so strange.

You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).

Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.
